As a fashion and beauty blogger I’m always keeping my eyes peeled for what new trends and products are hitting the high street for us to try out and buy, this lipstick being one of them.
The Sunday Girl posted over on her blog about three new shades from Maybelline, Shocking Coral being one of them and from her swatches alone I needed to check it out.
Before purchasing this I owned one coral lipstick and one coral lip gloss and I love them both but I wanted something that would last longer so that I can wear it during the summer and for work and this lipstick has done just what I wanted a coral to do.
The first thing I think of when I look at the packaging is how pretty it is and how much it reminds me of summer holidays (not that I’ve had one in a very long time…) and for a high street brand it is gorgeous, as well as that as people may know the colour of the packaging matches the colour of the lipstick bought.
I have to add, it took me ages to find one of these that hadn’t been messed with by people, which was annoying, they should put some sort of tape or plastic on these. There must have been 7 of these and all of them apart from mine had been tampered with, not cool!
The above pictures were taken with the flash on my camera, as I felt it showed the colour true to life better than it was without the flash. The colour is a gorgeous pink coral, which reminds me of a pinker shade of Betty Bright from the new Archie’s Girls Collection for MAC. This colour will look gorgeous on all skin tones, especially if you’re pale or tan easily like myself due to the pink undertones.
As you can see from the swatch it has a glossy finish to it, which I love as it means my lips don’t feel dried out. I tried this at work for a couple of days and my lips didn’t feel dry at all throughout my shift and the colour didn’t fade too quickly either, which I liked. I got a couple of compliments from people saying how summery the colour looked and how it suited me, which was lovely. This is very creamy and will glide onto your lips no problem, although I would of course recommend a lip balm underneath it, just to protect your lips.
Unlike MAC lipsticks, this sadly doesn’t smell of doughnuts, for that matter it doesn’t smell like anything but that doesn’t bother me.
I paid £7.19 for this from Boots and at the moment they have an offer on Maybelline, ‘3 for 2 on selected Maybelline cosmetics – cheapest free’ I could have taken advantage of this and a bought a few more lipsticks from this collection, but I knew I needed to be good!
I’ll definitely be looking at the other shades from the collection, especially as Mother’s Day is less than a month away now and I need to get my Mom something, lipstick being one of the things on my list!
Hope you found this review useful and this time I have a picture of me wearing it! Enjoy.
