Grunge Attire

Good morning one and all! I hope you’re having a great week so far, especially now it’s Friday and the weekend is just around the corner. After my week off work, this week has dragged a tad for me at work, but meh it’s been okay otherwise! I do love my job, so it’s never a bad thing to be back at work after some time off… Although I do miss the lie ins and sitting in bed playing games and reading manga. 😛

Quite some time ago I was approached by the brand Grunge Attire asking me if I wanted to review some products for them. At first it was only going to be accessories themed, but as there was only one accessory I liked on the store, so instead I was sent 2 clothing pieces to review instead!

This was the third opportunity I was given in a row, which really excited me! I’ve worked with loads of brands and companies so far this year and that in itself makes me so damn happy!

Of course, all items that I’ll be talking about and reviewing in this post were gifted to me and will have a little * next to them.

We all good? YESH then let’s get on with the review!

First of all I’ll give you a little bit of information about Grunge Attire, this is taken direct from their website;

Grunge Attire was launched in 2017 to pay homage to the grunge scene, including the grunge fashion style.

The site was created for those that love rock music (especially grunge, punk and indie), but don’t feel comfortable wearing ‘all-black’ clothing. I wanted to create a site that sold rock clothing that didn’t represent heavy metal or goth (both, great genres). I was tired of not finding the ‘right’ look.

We knew there had to be an answer!

So, after finding the best grunge rock styles, Grunge Attire was born.

There are many great styles and designs for both Men and Women to enjoy, with collections being updated monthly.

What’s great about grunge attire is that is something for everyone, for every informal occasion; whether it be a gig/concert/festival, night-out with friends or dress-down Friday at work.

Whatever I have done in life, I have tried to offer the best possible service to people as possible and Grunge Attire is no exception. If there is something you aren’t quite happy with, or there is something you can’t find, then feel to send us a message. We aim to respond to enquiries within 24-hours.

Future plans for Grunge Attire will include creating original designs, so watch this space…

Grunge Attire sounds right up my street! Whilst I don’t have an issue with wearing all black clothing, I get that not everyone is into that sort of style so it’s great to see a brand that is reaching out to those who don’t wish to be all emo and goth with the shade. 😛

I was sent two items to review, a t-shirt and a pair of leggings. I just want to state that I am being honest in my review, whether I’m sent items for free or if I pay for them myself, I am always 100% honest when it comes to reviews.

When these items were ordered for me I was sent a confirmation of this with tracking details, etc. Both items were sent separately which surprised me as I’ve never seen this happen before whether I’ve been sent stuff to review or bought stuff for myself.

Both items took over a week to arrive, one arriving a day before the other. When the first item arrived I kind of understood why it had taken so long, they’d been shipped from China.

I kind of realised that these items were stock brought items from China due to the stock images on the website, as well as when researching certain pieces on the website it took me back to stores similar to Ali Express. I didn’t realise they would be coming direct from there, I thought they’d be from a warehouse or home in the UK, seeing as this is where the brand is from.

This is stated on their website however, which I didn’t think to look at until after the items arrived;

The time frame for order delivery is divided into two parts:

Processing time: Order verification, tailoring, quality check and packaging. All orders are usually sent to our Chinese manufacturer for dispatch within 48 hours after the order is placed and payment is received. The manufacturer and China EMS/China Post process the orders, which takes an additional 2–4 days.

Shipping time: This refers to the time it takes for items to be shipped from our warehouse to the destination. Outside of the US, delivery can take between 20–35 business days. US delivery orders usually arrive within 10-20 business days and are shipped by E-packet, which is a US Postal Service product. After processing and leaving the warehouse, items usually take between 7 and 14 days to arrive at their destination but can take longer from time to time. Please allow up to 20 business days for delivery to a US address, and up to 35 business days for delivery to a non-US address. Note that for some countries, shipping may take longer than estimated.

The second parcel however appeared to have arrived from China to the brand and then was sent to me. I found it odd that one came direct from China to me but the other hadn’t… It doesn’t matter really, it just threw me a little. They arrived in perfect condition though!

  • Torn Elastic Waist Leggings* – £17.99 (link)
The leggings have been given the ‘wear and tear’ treatment with ripped holes on both legs. Perfect for those lazy weekends and easy-living days. Material: Acrylic,CottonBrand Name: SWALLOW BIRD

This was the first item to arrive out of the two and they were folded up nicely in a plastic bag. I took them out and I’m not going to lie I laughed so much when I saw them. These look TINY and I have a massive arse and thighs. There was no way I was going to fit into these. This being said they are stretchy but not THAT stretchy! I put them on and I felt really uncomfortable, they’re not the nicest material in the world but it’s due to the sizing that they weren’t as good as they could have been. I ordered a L which on the website is a 14-16. I’m a 12-14 and these are too small for me. I would have ordered sizes bigger if I actually KNEW they were coming from China.

This sadly isn’t the only issue I had with these. There were threads hanging off in two different places, one on the ankle on the left and one on the side by my thigh on the left. As well as that the little drawstrings on the waistband aren’t even and no matter how much you pull to make them even or even tighten the waistband, it’s just for show. When wearing these the crotch area is really baggy and I would pull them up higher but due to how tight they are because of the sizing, I just can’t make them work. They’re described as being, “Perfect for those lazy weekends and easy-living days.” For me they aren’t due to the sizing. They’re not comfortable whatsoever and even taking them off hurt my legs, I practically had to unfold them. This again is due to the sizing being wrong.

These cost £17.99 and do I think they’re worth it? Sadly no. They’re actually incredibly disappointing leggings for how much they cost and considering I had a pair arrive with loose threads this is VERY POOR, very poor indeed. I know if I was a paying customer I could and would send these back for a refund.

Sadly it’s quite obvious there were made in China and myself and others could go onto eBay and search for these and pay half price for these. I don’t mean to sound bitchy but sadly it’s true. Very disappointing indeed and sadly not worth the price for what they are. I’m not going to lie, it didn’t really set a good opinion on the brand for me.

Also, I would have posted a picture of me wearing these as a comparison but I honestly don’t feel comfortable wearing them and taking them off is uncomfortable. Sorry guys. 😦

  • Angel (Japanese) T-Shirt* – £15.99 (link)

Whether you are looking for a classic, band or humorous print t-shirt, there are is something here that will look great all year round, whatever the occasion.

As many readers of my blog will know, I love anything Japanese! So when I saw this t-shirt I knew I wanted to review it. This arrived the day after the leggings and sadly after what happened with those, I was quite nervous for how this t-shirt was going to be. Thankfully it wasn’t bad!

Like the leggings the t-shirt came in a plastic bag and when I took it out I did have a slight moment of concern that this may not fit me. If the leggings didn’t fit and were meant to be the size they claim on the website, then would the t-shirt be the same?! Thankfully it wasn’t and it fits quite snug and nicely! It’s a little shorter than I would wear but that isn’t an issue, I can live with that.

The quality of the t-shirt is quite nice and it feels really nice, not too thick and not too thin. The quality isn’t £15.99 worth in my opinion and it reminds me of a t-shirt you could pick up in Primark for £8.00.

I had a quick look and search online to see if it was actually Japanese for Angel and it actually is! It’s the Tenshi for Angel. I can’t wait to wear this t-shirt out and about now to be honest with you, it really is a gorgeous top and it’ll be great for casual wear.

Again, apologies for no picture of me wearing this tee.

Overall, what are my thoughts on Grunge Attire?

They’re great to be honest, there’s definitely some grunge pieces on there as well as some indie too, which is good! The one thing I really don’t like is the prices, I feel they’re too high for the quality of the stock. The images on the website are all stock images, whereas it should be a model wearing them so we can see what they’re like in unison on the same person. I know all this stuff costs time and money, but in my opinion when you’re investing into something anyway, why not go 100%? I mean I Google searched these products and found them online for prices between £5.00-£8.00. Such a price difference!

There also needs to be more accessories on the website. There’s hardly any for women and say I wanted to buy an outfit for a festival, I’d want to grab a bag, some shades and jewellery. There’s no bags on the website and I know it is to me and all other women, bags and shoes are our best friends. 😛

The website and store definitely need some work but it’s a work in progress that needs some TLC.

I think the question my readers are really wanting to know the answer to right now is, “Nat, would you buy anything from Grunge Attire?” and my answer is… No, I wouldn’t. Why? There’s nothing really on the store that shouts out to me to buy it and not just that, again the prices are too high for what I could go on eBay and search for myself, as well as Wish, which is REALLY blowing up the internet right now!

Look I haven’t meant to be bitchy or knock the brand for their prices but I don’t want to see fellow grunge fashion wearers to get ripped off, it isn’t fair. 😦 I told you at the start of this review that I would be honest and I have been! I haven’t been paid for a false review and I NEVER will for as long as I’m writing on my blog.

Would you buy from Grunge Attire? If so which piece(s) would you pick up?

Until next time all, take care and I hope you’re having a lovely week!

  1. I always love your review posts because you are so honest about what you think of products! It sucks that the leggings and the store overall weren’t great, but it was a great post to read nonetheless because you say it like it is! 😀

I’m happy that the Japanese Angel shirt is nice though, I really like the design of it 🙂 I love grunge fashion, but I always struggle to find cute outfits in plus sizes! – Sarah x

    • Yeah I was a tad disappointed myself! 😦 but meh it’s a new store.

The t shirt is lovely but I feel like it’s shrunk since washing it! :/ I dunno though, it might have been just me wanting baggy clothes on. xD

I wonder if EMP might be a good place for you to shop for grunge clothing! 😀

      X
