Horror Movie Tag

Halloween is literally under a week away now and whilst I’m excited for it, I’m also not all that arsed… Why I hear you ask? I’m just not arsed anymore… The last time I went out for Halloween was back in 2015 and it was so much fun, but shit at the same time. Me and Dane dressed as South Park’s Mysterion and The Coon and we had such a laugh! Loads of people recognised who we were (some too bloody much!) but the whole night we couldn’t get a drink and we constantly had the same guy shouting out character names out. After the 10th time, we knew it was time to go home.

So since then, we’ve stayed in and greeted trick-or-treaters. We don’t even watch a horror movie it anything. This year however we’re staying in and playing Luigi’s Mansion 3, which we’re looking forward to! May also watch some scary films too… Just to shake it up a bit!

Last week the gorgeous Sarah over at Raiin Monkey tagged me to take part in the Horror Movie Tag that she had taken part in. I know she’s been loving Halloween this month and as I got myself into the spooky spirit a few weeks back at the Bubble Boba Halloween event (which you can read here), I thought this tag would be a bit of fun to take part in! I don’t recall doing anything like this before and I do miss taking part in tag posts on my blog.

1. What is the first horror movie you remember watching?

Alien and I fucking hated it and still hate* it! I was only 6 when I first watched it and the only scene I saw was the chest burst one. It frightened me so much that I didn’t sleep for about a week. Since then I can’t watch that film (or any of the other Alien films for that matter) because they just make me anxious and sleep doesn’t happen.

*I don’t HATE the film… But it freaks me out! 😛

2. What is your favourite horror movie?

Shaun of the Dead. Now I know this is a comedy style horror, but it’s still up there as a horror movie for me and as it’s one of my favourite films, it’s definitely up there as my favourite. Alongside that however I also love 28 Days LaterHostel II (I love the first one but I prefer the second one more), the Saw series (Saw II is my favourite!), Rosemary’s Baby, A Quiet Place, Carrie, Planet Terror and many more. Those are just a small few.

3. What’s your favourite horror movie genre?

Does thriller count? Alongside slasher and zombie. I’m not a massive zombie movie fan, but I have named a couple on here so… 😛

4. What genre scares you the most?

Probably sci-fi to be honest with you. As I mentioned, I hate Alien due to how much it freaks me out… But alongside that some other alien style films creep me out too. I guess it depends, but other than that nothing really scares me, you know? Might make me overthink and be anxious after… Which the Alien movies are good at! 😛

5. What is the last horror movie you watched that actually scared you?

I haven’t in all fairness… Again Alien creeps me out so if I re-watch any of those I do usually feel a bit… Unsettled when trying to sleep. The last time I watched an Alien movie was when I lived at home and that was over 3 years ago now!

6. Who is your ultimate Scream Queen?

Nah not really… If anything I usually react by saying, “Whoa what the fuck is going on?” I never scream at horror movies. I might jump at times, yes, but never scream.

7. What’s a concept that you’d like to see in horror?

I don’t know in all fairness… This is a tough question! Something unique to be honest with you. I feel like we rarely get this now! I did love A Quiet Place as I found this was done so well! I couldn’t say what concept I would like… I do love my horror comedy films like Shaun of the Dead and Doghouse.

8. What is your favourite on-screen kill?

Definitely the scene in Hostel II where Beth cuts off Stuarts genitals and lets him bleed to death. He’s such a prick at the end of the day and was going to rape and kill Beth! He deserved to die, he was such a fool. 😛 I’m sure there are better on-screen kills but this is the first one that popped into my head.

9. What’s your favourite franchise?

I don’t think I have one when it comes down to horror to be perfectly honest with you… I’m not really all that arsed about horror when it comes down to it… If anything probably Saw because it’s probably the only horror series and franchise I’ve fully kept up with. That and I do really love the story behind it. BUT although I used to be a massive horror movie fan growing up, I’m not so arsed about it now. 😦

10. Who’s your favourite horror director?

Eli Roth is one of the first people who come to mind. He’s the guy behind Hostel I and Hostel II, as well as Cabin Fever. I can’t think of anyone else in all honesty with you. 😦 I’m so crap when it comes down to horror movies! 😛

I have to add though what an amazing job John Krasinski did with directing A Quiet Place! I honestly loved that film so much and if anything I regret not watching it in the cinema. A Quiet Place: Part II is set to come out at the start of 2020, so I am beyond excited for that! 😀

So that is the end of the Horror Movie Tag! 😀

I want to say a massive thank you to my best blogger friend Sarah for tagging me to take part in this! It really cheered me up yesterday on my lunch break at work as I wrote my answers!

I tag EVERYONE who reads this post to give this tag a go themselves! 😀 If you do take part, please tag me in your posts so I can come and read your answers myself! 🙂

Until next time all, take care and I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. 🙂

  1. I loved reading your answers to this tag! I love a good ol’ tag post, both answering & reading! 🙂 it’s fun to just write up a chatty-style post & I also love being able to learn more about the person behind a blog. Awww, I’m so glad that I helped to cheer you up lovely ❤️

What an epic idea to dress up in the South Park costumes!! I love dressing up, I sometimes do it even if I’m not going out anywhere for Halloween, because I’m sad 😀 haha but it’s just awesome fun! I’m not going anywhere this year but I will likely attempt some cool Halloween makeup at least. Enjoy playing the game 🙂

It’s so cool that Alien was your first horror watch, too! (Well it was my second, but it was on the same day as the first so it still counts :D). The idea of alien creatures is just so freaky, isn’t it? :O

Shaun of the Dead is a brilliant movie! I will constantly quote ‘you’ve got red in you’ at appropriate moments for the rest of my life, thanks to that movie XD

That hostel 2 scene is amazing!! I laughed and cringed so much at the same time, definitely one of my favourites too. I’m planning to watch A Quiet Place tomorrow as part of the Horrorthon challenge I’m doing… i’m excited since I’ve hears so many good reviews about it! 🙂

Wonderful post as always! – Sarah x
