Shop Small – Claire Likes To Doodle*

Can you believe Christmas is now less than a month away? With Christmas comes Christmas present shopping, have you started yours yet? I have and I’m almost finished! I know some people who wait until the last minute to buy their presents and some who buy them throughout the year.

I like to get my shopping done early and always have done so that I have more money for Christmas parties and trips to the German Market throughout December… None of those are happening this year due to COVID… ๐Ÿ˜›

However this year I have decided to shop small and mostly buy Christmas presents through small and independent artists. Some own their own stores online and host on websites like Etsy. I’ll be writing and sharing more stores with you in the coming weeks.

Today I want to talk about my good friend Claire, who owns Claire Likes To Doodle. I spoke about Claire and her commission work last summer (which you can read here) and we have decided to work together again, but this time to talk about her online store!

Claire opened her store again around July this year and since then she has filled it with loads of amazing goodies – especially her original character Bernard.

Since working together last year Claire wanted to share an update in regards to how her work has changed since then, as well as how Claire Likes To Doodle will be in 2021!

The last time I was featured on Nat’s blog, it was primarily for my chibi work. That was my main focus for commissions and merch too. I’m still a commission artist, I do watercolour pieces and portraits, MTG alters and tokens. My personal work has changed up a fair bit though!

The great (and sometimes frustrating) thing about being an artist is that you’re constantly evolving and changing up your work and style until you settle into what you love creating best. I found that when I was doing Inktober 2019 and I introduced a little monster called a Bernard. Since then I’ve been creating more and more work around Bernards and their world, and people have fell in love with them! I now have an active shop with Bernard goodies, original art and other oddities.

I’ve got big Bernard plans for 2021, watch this space… Once again, thank you Natalee for featuring me and letting me introduce Bernard to your lovely readers!

I really love when independent stores/artists I work with have an input in my posts to tell me all about them and how they got started, their store and plans for the future.

I have been friends with Claire since 2006 and our friendship has grown more and more as the years have gone by. I’m so proud of Claire for how far she has come and I have a feeling 2021 will be her year!

Inside this package there was a lovely note from Claire that really made me smile. As someone who has anxiety and depression this note is very much appreciated. Whenever people write down words like this, whether it be on a letter or a text I keep them and read them back when I feel down. I’ll be doing the same with this note too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Claire kindly gifted me all the items in this post (apart from one item which I bought with my own money) for reviewing purposes. Apart from the quote above from Claire, all words are my own and items that are gifted will be marked with an *.

Claire has a variety of goodies on her store to buy from stickers, badges, original work, paintings, stationary and more. I was sent a little bit of everything to show to you today!

First things first – if you are UK based like Claire is – she offers Free UK shipping on certain items. If she does offer this, it will state it on the item in question e.g. stickers and badges. I felt this was an important note to add as I know a lot of people in the UK may be looking for small gift and stocking ideas for Christmas and throughout the year.

The cut off point for ordering in time for Christmas is Monday 14th December 2020. Commissions are now closed until January 2021.

Finally before I start to share the goodies share sent me – Claire Likes To Doodle is having a Black Friday sale! When you use the code “YOULLBEBACK” at checkout you will snag a cheeky 20% discount on everything in her shop. This is valid between Friday 27th November 12am GMT – Sunday 29th November 12am GMT. So, if you like the look of anything here, make sure to go and grab a bargain.

Oh… I also have an exclusive 10% discount code for Claire Likes To Doodle’s store, which will be on the right hand side of my blog moving forward. I have added it here though too for readers who my see some good below and want to make an order. ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally… I’ll share with you the amazing goodies that Claire sent me! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Autumn Bernard – Square Sticker (link)*
  • Autumn Bernard – 38mm Square Badge (link)*

A square sticker/badge with a cozy autumnal Bernard, enjoying her favourite pumpkin spice beverage and wrapped up warm. Take a bit of autumn with you wherever you go with this unique sticker.

As regular readers will know, I love enamel pins, badges and stickers! Badges remind me of my emo kid self back in the day, I would stick badges all over my bags and jackets to try and show off who I was as much as possible. This autumn Bernard is so perfect to me purely because I love autumn. It’s my favourite time of the year and Claire has captured that perfectly with her autumn Bernard design. My favourite colour is purple so I love that Bernard is wrapped up in purple accessories and is holding a warm drink. I also love the little pink flushed cheeks, just showing how cold it is where Bernard is. You can show really off your love of autumn all year around with both the badge and the sticker, as well as show off and support Claire’s original character.

  • Chill AF Bernard – 32mm Badge (link)*

Need a little calm in your life? I get it. So does Bernard. May this 32mm button badge be a reminder to take a step back every now and again.

This chill AF Bernard is a reminder for everyone right now to take a deep breath and relax whenever you can. With the way the world is at the moment I think everyone could do with this badge as a reminder to step back and take a few minutes for yourself. It can also help with anxiety too to remind people to take care of themselves. I really love this badge and I think I’ll be sticking him on my work laptop bag to remind me to relax for five during the busy work day and grab a drink and maybe a casual chat with colleagues. ๐Ÿ™‚ To add as well by the way that both of the badges I received from Claire are amazing quality. They feel really well made and sturdy!

  • Flower Crown Bernard – Sticker (link)*

Original design – take this summer-themed Bernard wherever you want to go!

This Bernard reminds me of the summer, drinking with friends in beer gardens, going to festivals and basically summer vibes and activities with friends and loved ones before COVID. This is a sticker that reminds me that we need to be patient, because when COVID is gone – we can all have fun with our loved ones again and make some amazing new memories. The flower crown Bernard is so precious and I love how colourful the crown is! I wish my garden could look more like this. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Halloween Holographic Stickers (Halloween exclusive piece – not available to buy)*

Sadly these stickers aren’t available anymore, but Claire sent them me so I wanted to show them off to you guys! These were exclusive for Halloween and only stuck around the shop for a short period of time. There were two designs released with a baby Bernard inside of a pumpkin and a Bernard flying on a broom. They’re both so adorable and the fact they’re holographic too makes them feel even more spooky and seasonal for Halloween. The quality of these stickers is thicker than the other two stickers Claire sent me which is really cool! I might not stick these anywhere and actually use them as decorations for the Halloween season and stick them on my kitchen window! ๐Ÿ˜€ In the future keep your eyes peeled on Claire’s store for more store exclusives!

  • Round Cat Painting (Twitch stream piece – not available to buy)

This is a painting I purchased on one of Claire’s streams in the summer during lockdown and sold pieces she painted on stream. Due to to COVID I’ve only recently received it due to not being able to meet up and such. I paid ยฃ10 of my own money for this print and have been so excited to add it to my little growing collection by Claire. It’s a little round cat that looks like a Siamese breed. It’s so derpy and cute that I just had to buy it! I’m not a cat person to be perfectly honest with you but the derpy look in this cats eyes just had me! It feels so… Expensive(?) if you will due to the special art paper Claire has used. It was so relaxing watching Claire paint this piece, it’s cool to now have it in person. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Artgust – Original A6 Watercolour Paintings – Electric (link)*

Through the month of August 2020, I did a painting every day based on a prompt list put together by myself and my wonderful Discord community. A mix of funny pieces, sad pieces, portraits and Bernards done over 31 days! Each piece is A6 size, painted in watercolour.

The final piece I want to talk about that Claire sent me I was taken back by. I didn’t quite expect her to send me one of her watercolour paintings but I’m not going to complain, especially considering she sent me a Pokemon themed print! Back in August Claire took part in Artgust where you draw/paint something everyday of the month. This was day 28 of August and it’s titled “Pikachu”. As you can see it’s Claire’s original character Bernard who is surrounded by hearts and has a Pikachu on his head. It’s so bloody cute and I love it! This is going to go on my plushie cabinet alongside my other prints. I’ll be keeping it in the cellophane packet it came in to keep it safe. For an A6 print size it packs a punch and not only looks amazing, the quality of the piece itself feels high quality too and expensive.

Claire still has quite a few prints left from the Artgust challenge, as well as one she took part in in October called Annarack October that are all looking for homes! The prints created during October are all Bernard themed too, so if you like the look of Claire’s original character and would like to pick up something with them on, definitely go and check those prints out!

They’re all A6 size and cost ยฃ15 each. They’re also unique one of a kind pieces, no reprints here. Once they’re sold, they’re gone. For example if you go onto the website the Electric print is sold out, because of course I own it now.

I’ve had my eye on one for a while now and definitely contemplating buying it soon! It’s the Black design from Artgust. I’ve always loved the look of it and if there’s one style of art Claire does really well it’s the blackout style. She did it for a time on her Instagram page and it’s one I always find myself gravitating towards. Who knows, I may end up buying it after this post is live… ๐Ÿ˜‰

'Distanced' A4 Year Planner - 2021

Something else I may pick up soon for when I return to the office for work is the ‘Distanced’ A4 Year Planner 2021. Not only is it handy but also really nice to stick on the sides of my desk for a bit of artwork… Nothing wrong with livening your desk up, eh? ๐Ÿ˜€

So there you go guys, the first of many independent artists I’ll be talking about during shop small in December! I’m so happy that Claire Likes To Doodle could be the first one I talk about.

September Favourites โ€™20

Wow, did September fly by or what?! I can’t quite believe it’s October and I’m still saying and writing September down when referring to this month.

As I mentioned this time last month, September is my favourite month of the year, for autumn and it’s always the month I have associated with as a “fresh start”. This is down to starting education in September and preparing myself for that. I was one of those teenagers who started a new year of school with a “new year, new me!” approach… But never really changed much. xD

However, September 2020 for me has been… Shit. Due to lockdown I haven’t been able to do stuff I usually would in the run up to autumn, which sucks, but without saying too much, I’ve been grieving during September and I can only see October being the same. This is also why there wasn’t a blog post last week.

Aside from that September was just bland really. I had to “take a stand” and look after my mental health. I’d found being part of group chats and Discord chats to be too much for me and I’ve ended up muting them for the foreseeable future. That “new year, new me!” stance I’ve always had since the age of 13 appears to have been used this year for sure! xD

This months favourites are strange. I found that a lot of beauty related items I’ve loved have been holy grails for me, especially for my hand, which flared up with my dermatitis. SO, I hope the one product mentioned may help others out there who have dermatitis like myself, or eczema.

Anyhoo, enough of me waffling and being depressing (ha! xD), on with the monthly favourites for September!

  • Happy Place Cosmetics Wild Child Body Scrub.

I got this body scrub towards the end of July/start of August in my Happy Place Cosmetics monthly box. This is my favourite item that was in the box, but I was wary I wasn’t going to like the scent after reading the description on the website. It’s described as being a dupe of Lush’s 29 High Street scent. This is a definite dupe, but back in the day when I was a Lushie, 29 High Street wasn’t a scent I particularly liked. However, it’s really grown on me and actually reminds me of Christmas! It’s a warm foral, but fruity scent! Lush say that 29 High Street is said to be the scent of a Lush shop when you walk in. I think this has changed the past 8 years however…

Honestly though, the Happy Place Cosmetics body scrubs are AMAZING and by far the best I’ve ever used. They’re really scrubby, but they also foam up too depending on how much water you add. I don’t feel like I’ve had a body scrub work as well as these do. I use them once a week and they make my skin lovely and soft. At the time of writing this post (evening of 30/09/2020) there are some body scrubs available on the Happy Place Cosmetics website, so if you’re interested in them, go and check out the website.

  • Lyonsleaf Calendula and Marshmallow Balm.

When I say this product has been a lifesaver, I really mean it. I’ve mentioned on and off on my blog how my eczema/dermatitis is really bad on my hand the past year and at one point over the past month it got so bad and uncomfortable. So much so, it was waking me up in the night due to how itchy it was. I decided to research what products I could buy and use on it after washing my hands and in between the ointment my doctor had prescribed me. Lyonsleaf came up and after doing a lot of reading and watching of reviews on YouTube, I decided to order myself a little tub. It’s honestly amazing stuff! It’s greasy in consistency but a little goes a long way. It doesn’t have a scent or taste when applied to the skin, but in the jar it does remind me of a Sunday dinner/gravy sort of smell, which is so odd! I really do recommend this though if you have really dry skin and need something to soothe it, especially if it’s just patches like what I have.

  • Doll 10 Doll Skin Perfecting Treatment Powder.

This is something my mom bought me as a gift quite a while ago. I’ve only really started to use it during lockdown whenever I’m popping out for the day, or fancy wearing doing myself up as if I’m going out for the day. Lately I’ve been venturing out a little more, whether it’s going for a shop, getting my nails done or running errands out and about. This is a light translucent powder which goes on pretty straight forward. It’s been my go to really to remove any excess oil on my t-zone. I couldn’t say if it actually keeps the oil at bay all day but it works for me enough at the moment during “lockdown” and whilst I’m working from home. I’m never usually a fan of loose powders as I find they often don’t get picked by the brush (if that makes sense?) which can wind me up a little as I feel like I’m constantly trying to get an even coverage on my face. This being said, this powder is pretty good for that!

  • Nivea Blueberry Blush Lip Butter.

I mentioned this a couple of months on my monthly favourites and I’m mentioning it again! This lip butter by Nivea is so lovely to use and as sad as it sounds, it’s a treat for me to use throughout the week during work. It’s buttery, creamy and a little goes a long way. It feels really nice and moisturising on the lips and it smells absolutely gorgeous! I love blueberries and especially love blueberry scented things so this is right up my street. I usually go to Vaseline when it comes to lip balms, but I’m really loving the Nivea lip butter lately, so this is definitely a product I’ll repurchase in the future. I highly recommend it is you want a good lip butter/cream. It’s not greasy or sticky, yet it lasts ages on the lips!

  • Bath Bake Love White Cocoa Fluffy Whip Soap.

The final product I want to talk about for the beauty side of my monthly favourites is Bath Bake Love, an independent beauty brand I have fallen in love with during lockdown. I’d like to write a blog post about them in the future, but I don’t know when it’ll be. Anyway, this is the first and only fluffy whip soap I’ve tried by them and it smells of white chocolate/white hot chocolate. It’s divine and it isn’t just me who loves it too, my boyfriend has really taken to this and has been using is everyday to wash with in the mornings. It’s a thick creamy soap, it looks more like a buttercream than soap and it smells like it too. A little goes a long way and when used in a sponge or a shower puff it really foams up and leaves you with loads of lovely smelling lather/bubbles. This can also be used in the bath, which my boyfriend has done. Bath Bake Love has definitely become a must have for our shower and I cannot wait to try and own more of their products in the future. They currently have their Halloween range on their website, so make sure to go and check them out. ๐Ÿ™‚

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Fuck You Amazon Prime Video GIF by The Boys

Gif taken from GIPHY

Favourite TV Show –ย The Boys.

First of all, sorry for the C word being used on the gif… Butcher is one of my favourite characters for the way he is, so I had to include that gif. ๐Ÿ˜› We are already six episodes into season 2 of The Boysย and so far I’m really enjoying it! There’s been loads happen since season 1 finished last year, which is always good. One of the episodes so far felt really slow and I know I wasn’t the only person saying this. Monday morning meetings are spent with my team discussion the episode of The Boysย from the weekend and what we thought of it. We’ve all had the same feelings about it and so far we are all loving it! I really do look forward to spending Friday night or Saturday morning watching the latest episode with Dane.ย The Boysย reminds me ofย Preacher, which ended last year, just afterย The Boysย began. They’re both based off of comics of the same dark comedy, so they’re good in my books! I definitely recommend checking out The Boys andย Preacherย if you have Amazon Prime, as that’s where they’re hosted.

Favourite Movie โ€“ I’m Thinking of Ending Things.

Although we watched this film at the end of start of September it’s the only film I’ve reallyย watched lately that I could think of adding to my monthly favourites this month. This is one that Dane had watched the trailer for, heard about online and really wanted to watch. We popped it on and I swear throughout we were constantly questioning what the fuck was going on. It’s a psychological drama about a young woman who is contemplating ending the six week relationship with her boyfriend as they drive to his parents house so she can meet them for the first time. It spirals from there, but I don’t really want to say much in case it reveals any spoilers but it’s based off of a novel and is directed by Charlie Kaufman the guy behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.ย If you have Netflix or are able to watch it another way I highly recommend it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Chris Evans Oops GIF

Favourite Book – Oops…

Oops indeed. I didn’t read anything this month. I really need to just have an evening off of my phone, Nintendo Switch and laptop and just read! Sometimes though I just don’t feel like I have time. I’m always trying to make way for everything and reading takes a back burner. Earlier today I ordered Aggretsuko Vol. 1 comic book! I love Aggretsuko so I’m rather excited for that to arrive tomorrow or Friday to read over the weekend… If I’m able to! Honestly though, I have so many manga volumes and comics to read. I really need to get on it!

Favourite Music โ€“ PVRIS –ย Use Me.

PVRIS new albumย Use Meย came out at the end of August and it’s one I’ve been listening to on and off throughout September, but I definitely need to listen to it a lot more. I wanted to share one of the songs from the album that I’ve already fallen in love with, starting with “Loveless”. This song is clearly about a breakup but it’s got such a lovely acoustic melody behind it, as well as powerful lyrics that a lot of people who have or are going through a breakup can relate to. I just love it so much and after I heard it for the first time, I replayed it a few times and got the lyrics up to read as it played and sing along to. Who else does this? ๐Ÿ˜›

Overall I really loveย Use Meย but I think it’s one that will have to grow on me. I love PVRIS’s previous two albums so much, but that isn’t it. I think due to the fact 5/11 songs on the album have come out gradually the past year as singles and EP’s, nearly half of the albums isn’t a “surprise”, if that makes sense? Even so, I still love it! PVRIS has fast become one of my favourite bands the past year and a half and that’s not going to change.

Favourite Game – Not Tonight: Take Back Control Edition (Nintendo Switch).

I only bought this game about a week ago but it’s already earnt it’s place on my monthly favourites for September due to how much I’ve played it already! The week I bought this was when I received some bad news and I looked on the eShop for something simple to play, but not for a lot of money. I pickedย Not Tonightย up for a BARGAIN price of ยฃ1.94! I think it was 90% off so the game was roughly ยฃ19? Crazy how cheap this was, but totally worth it! It’s set after Brexit and you’re playing a bouncer with European in their blood. You live in a dump, work for shit money and have loads of bills and taxes to pay. You have to check the ID of people coming in pubs, clubs, festivals, events and even on the border of the UK. I love it, it’s such a “relaxing” game to play which has a dark sense of humour about it. Some people I’ve spoken to about the game said it sounds depressing. It’s really not. If it’s still on offer on the eShop I highly recommend it, I’m sure you won’t miss ยฃ1.94 eh?

So, there we have it, my favourites from September. I’ve had to write this post the day before it’s due to be out and I honestly can’t believe tomorrow is going to October. This year has flew, even with the circumstances of COVID. I wish September hadn’t gone by so quickly and I wish myself and my family hadn’t received the news we did… I’m kind of glad for a new month due to that, but at the same time, I don’t know what October will bring. Fingers crossed something good, eh?

What have you been loving throughout September? Are you excited for autumn, the nights starting to draw in and Halloween? I’m excited for Halloween! I’m going to try and use October as the month to watch Halloween movies I’ve always meant to. ๐Ÿ™‚

Speaking of, what’s your favourite Halloween movie? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, stay safe and take care all. ๐Ÿ™‚

FoxLeap โ€“ More Lady and Tramp Enamel Pins!

It feels like it has been far too long since I wrote a blog post about enamel pins (Quirkory in February) and we are well overdue for another now!

I pre-ordered these two enamel pins from FoxLeap whilst I was in Japan and due to Coronavirus, they arrive a little later than planned. This didn’t bother me and in all fairness it was to be expected.

I still love my Lady and the Tramp pin I backed through Kickstarter (you can read about it here) last year from FoxLeap, so when I saw that she had brought out two more designs to do with the movie, I knew I had to buy.

Sophie, the person behind Foxleap designed a Scamp and Angel pin, as well as the three female pups, Annette, Collette, and Danielle pin. I knew I needed both, no matter what.

They arrived at the start of May and I haven’t been able to stop looking at them since. I know how much I love writing about my enamel pin purchases, as well as sharing amazing artists with you guys too. PLUS I know how many of you loved the first time I spoke about Foxleap on my blog, so I knew I had to share these enamel pins with you all.

Sophie also sent me some goodies for free as an apology for how long I waited for my pins to arrive, as well as some pins as a pick me up during everything that is going on with coronavirus, which was so lovely of her! I’m actually going to gift some of these pins to friends. ๐Ÿ™‚ FYI when I say sent goods for free they wereย not sent for review purposes.

Right, let me share the pins with you all!

These both came in two separate packages, but I wanted to show them off all together.

The first package I received was a thank you package and a “coronavirus” package if you will. The one that Sophie sent me (which she sent to everyone who had/made an order) contained some duplicates of the Lady and the Tramp II pins I ordered, as well as a print, some stickers and a Simba and Nala pin.

Then I received another package from Sophie which was my actual order. Due to how long I was waited for my pins to arrive, Sophie was kind enough to offer me a free pin, as well as some free stickers. I opted for some of the fox stickers, as well as one of her Pokemon pins that I’d actually been toying with ordering around Christmas.

The two prints I was sent in both packages are gorgeous, but I seriously cannot get over the Scamp and Angel one that was included. I adore it so much and have placed it up in our bedroom so I can look at it. It reminds me of when I was in my final year of primary school and how hard it was. My mom bought me Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure on video and even got me a cute plush of Scamp (which is still at my mom’s somewhere!) and it cheered me up so much. I watched the film loads and adored it. So, this print reminds me of that period in my life. Plus, the detailing on it is adorable!

I was also sent the Okami print! I have always wanted to play this game and now it’s out on the Switch too, I may finally take the plunge and buy it. This print is also available on a t-shirt, which I’ll link here.

As always, Sophie pops a lovely message on the back of the prints with “Thank you” as well as “stay safe”. This is such a lovely touch and it always makes me smile.

I was also sent some stickers (as I mentioned previously), which I adore! The sticker sheets from Foxleap are adorable and they make me happy to look at.

I was kindly sent the fox and one of the two dog sticker sheets. I’ve already stuck some of these on my new iPad case and they really do add something adorable to it… Not that it doesn’t already have it. ๐Ÿ˜›

Finally, let’s talk about the enamel pins!

Scamp and Angel (link)

This pin is adorable and considering how the Lady and the Tramp pin looks, this has really worked well alongside the original! The original design also had a heart, so it’s nice to see that there is a heart between Scamp and Angel too. This scene is meant to be from when they’ve both been for food and are walking through the park. The design is just perfect and I especially love the light blue colour for Angel’s eyes.

The enamel pin is gold plated, and although I’m not the biggest fan of gold, it isn’t obvious with this pin and if anything, it works really well with both of the pups colour schemes.

Lady Pups (link)

The lady pups pin is very much different from both Lady and Tramp and Scamp and Angel, but I put this down to the fact there are three pups to incorporate AND we don’t know a whole lot about them from the film. However, I feel like we do also get the personalities of the three puppies and it works so well due to that. I really love the design, it’s so cute.

The enamel pin is rose gold plated, which I feel compliments the puppies colours so much.

Nickit (link)

I love Pokemon and whilst I’m not the biggest fan of the new Pokemon series Sword and Shield games, I did really fall in love with this new fox type Pokemon. I kept Nickit for as long as I could before evolving and it really is one of my favourite things about the new games. I’m so glad to finally have this pin, the Nickit looks a little grumpy, even though I know it doesn’t mean to. It’s perfect!

Simba and Nala

Finally we have a Lion King pin and it’s Simba and Nala. This was part of the Kickstarter design I backed last year for my Lady and the Tramp design. It’s so cute, with Simba and Nala looking at each other in a loving way and with their tails making a heart shape together. I don’t know if I’ll keep this design or if I’ll gift it to one of my friends… I’ll see how I feel as I am growing rather fond of the design myself.

Since my review back in late 2019, I have purchased from FoxLeap a few more times and each and every time she has been lovely and delivered, especially recently considering the circumstances. Sophie is an amazing designer and seller and it’s why I wanted to show off the latest enamel pins I picked up from her.

Iโ€™m going to pop any social media and store links down below for FoxLeap. Although Iโ€™ve linked it throughout the post, itโ€™s always good to have stuff together too.

What do you guys think of FoxLeap? They sell some really cute enamel pins, as well as t-shirts, stickers, notebooks and keyrings. They donโ€™t just design Disney either! They also design Pokemon too, so make sure to go and check out their store!

As I said on my previous post, I’ll definitely purchase from Fox Leap again, as well as for friends, which I did around Christmas. Sophie’s designs are amazing! BUT I am still after a Meeko and Flit design from Pocahontasย as well as Dumbo. ๐Ÿ˜›

What pin(s) would you pick up from Fox Leap if you could? ๐Ÿ™‚ Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time all, take care and stay safe!

Christmas Gift Guide 2019 – Animal Crossing

switch animal crossing new horizons GIF

Image taken from GIPHY

Do you (or someone you know) love Animal Crossing?

Would you (or someone you know) love to receive an Animal Crossing themed gift for Christmas?

Last question – are you (or someone you know) excited for Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March 2020?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then this is the perfect Christmas gift guide for you, whether it’s for a friend or even yourself!

I am a massive Animal Crossing fan and it’s by far one of my favourite franchises to date (alongside Pokemon and Persona 5) so I am always on the hunt for merchandise, whether it be to treat myself or even ask as gifts over the festive period.

Withย Animal Crossing: New Horizonsย almost 3 months away, I thought I would do a gift guide on what to buy your Animal Crossing obsessed friend… Or maybe you could get some ideas for yourself to hint to your loved ones.

Items mentioned here may be owned by myself already, or items that I’m even lusting after myself. I hope you enjoy this gift guide! ๐Ÿ˜€

This mug is by far one of my favourites that I own. I’ve only owned it for a couple of months and I use it quite a lot in comparison to some of my older mugs. It’s a gorgeous design with so much detail and since I’ve discovered it and shared it with friends, it has generated a lot of attention, which is always lovely. Due to the locaton of SarahDandh being in Spain, delivery may take a little longer… But in all fairness it didn’t take too long for mine to arrive and you can always email the seller and ask. She’s so lovely to talk to and I’m sure she would be more than happy to help! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Various stationary from washi tape, stickers and notebooks.

If there is something I am obsessed with, it’s stationary! I really do love it and personally I also find it to be the perfect gift if you want to give little gifts to blogger/online friends, or even stocking fillers for friends and teenagers. I thought I would share loads of stationary that I love the look of from sellers on both Etsy and Redbubble.

  • PolymerNai washi tape (link)
  • ShatteredStore washi tape (link)
  • Tinkalila washi tape (link)

I don’t actually own any washi tape myself, but it’s something I have always wanted and still do! The Animal Crossing ones above that I found on Etsy are gorgeous, especially the one by ShatteredStore!

  • minkandmango stickers (link)
  • ncdoggGraphics K.K. Slider sticker (link)
  • CobaltCity16 Goldie and Lucky sticker (link)

I can’t get enough of stickers! I want all of the ones mentioned above, especially he Goldie and Lucky sticker, seeing as they’re my two favourite characters from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

  • KnightNick Celeste spiral notebook (link)
  • CactusCatArt yellow hardcover journal (link)
  • GSunrise Isabelle spiral notebook (link)

If there is one gift I always love to receive for Christmas it’s a notebook or journal, especially one with a print on that I love! These notebooks and journal are gorgeous, with my favourite being the Celeste galaxy one. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • diyCrossing Music Box Set – (link)

Not only does diyCrossing sell cross stitch patterns, but they also sell cute little music boxes and music strips with music from Animal Crossing. This is something I have asked for for Christmas myself, as it would make for a cool little thing to have on my collection. You can pick from 7 designs which are all based on the game, as well as various music strips to choose from. You can even choose a design you would like for your music strip too! I love how personal and unique you can create your music box. This would make a lovely gift for any Animal Crossing fan, especially if the music relaxes them as much as it does for me. Like the cross stitch designs diyCrossing is constantly coming out with new music strips each month, which I think is great! He also recently announced some new music box designs too, which are cute! Be warned however, this item is in stock but won’t be shipped out for 3-5 weeks.

  • Various charms/keychains/rings.

If there is one thing I love it’s charms, keychains and keyrings! So of course I had to share three I’ve found over on Etsy from some independent artists. As a user of an ita bag, as well as backpacks that are COVERED in charms, I like to think the designs/items I show are gorgeous and unique!

  • ToasterKiwi Isabelle charm (link)
  • MochironStore Goldie charm (link)
  • JupyPoopy shaker keychain (link)

These charms/keychain are so pretty and I love them all! Especially the shaker keyring and the Goldie charm. I would love the shaker keyring to keep on my car keys. I can only imagine this keychain to be so relaxing to shake when feeling anxious/nervous about anything.

  • Amazon Gym/Travel Bag – (link)

This isn’t anything fancy but I keep seeing this pattern pop up on my Amazon page when searching for Animal Crossing bits and pieces and I thin the print is gorgeous! There are loads of bag designs to choose from, but I like this one the most! In the New Year people like to go to the gym more and be healthier, so this bag would be perfect for any Animal Crossing nerd who also ventures to the gym, dance classes and more. Plus its not stupidly expensive either, which is fab!

  • Various enamel pins.

As many readers of my blog will know, I love enamel pins and have been collecting them since 2018. I don’t even have a handful of Animal Crossing pins and I would seriously love more! Enamel pins make for great gifts and I know for a fact any Animal Crossing fan would love an enamel pin in their Christmas stocking. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Stami Studios Villager Girl Pin (link)
  • Illustrator Jake Isabelle Bumper Kart Enamel Pin (link)
  • Stami Studios Becoming Smash Rainbow Pin (link)

I wanted to share some sellers that I really love pin designs from! I especially love the Villager Girl pin as it’s something different, considering it’s fromย New Horizonsย of the girl in the trailer.

  • Miss Octopie “Be My Valentine” Short Sleeve Cut Out Dress – (link)

I’ve had my eye on this dress for ages, it’s not cheap though in all fairness but the quality looks amazing! This would be cute for a kawaii/otaku to wear every now and then! I would love something like this to wear for Japan, but I doubt I’d wear it any other time aside from comic cons in the UK and geeky events…

  • diyCrossing Cross Stitch Kit – (link)

If there is one store I have discovered this year and fell in love with, it’s diyCrossing. I can’t even remember how I found it now (although I am feeling like it was through an Instagram recommendation!) but I’m so glad I did. DIY Crossing specifies in selling Animal Crossing made items including cross stitch kits. They have 39 villagers to choose from and even offer seasonal designs for free for you to download at home! I made sure to bag myself a free Jingle one (no purchase necessary), as I may give it a go throughout the festive season this year or even throughout the year ready for Christmas 2020. In the set you get everything you need to get cracking with the design you choose as soon as possible!. I’ve actually asked for the Goldie one for Christmas, as she’s my favourite Animal Crossing character. The great thing about diyCrossing is that he is constantly coming out with new designs each month (3 max), which I think is great! It means we will get more and more of our favourite villager designs to choose from.

So there you go guys! That is my first out of two Christmas gift guides! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m going to try and get the second one out next Wednesday too, considering Christmas Day is 2 weeks today I thought it would give you all plenty of time to view both of the guides before the big day.

UPDATE – Also make sure to use my discount code below on Illustrator Jake’s store to snag yourself a nice 10% discount! ๐Ÿ˜€

THEREMIGHTBECOFFEE10

I really wanted to work on an Animal Crossing gift guide, as I know I’m stoked for the game in March 2020 and I know damn well that others are too!

Do you like any of the items mentioned on this gift guide? Whether that be for yourself, or a friend. Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time all, I hope you’re having a good week so far! ๐Ÿ˜€

JenniFairy Illustration – Review*

2019 is the year where I really got to work with some amazing people and companies on my blog, but 2019 is also the year where I have been privileged to work with one of my favourite independent artists, JenniFairy.

As readers will know, since 2018 I have discovered a new hobby, which is enamel pin collecting. I just love them so much! They’re affordable, can be pinned anywhere and best of all a great way to show off some of your favourite artists, game series and more.

If there is one independent artist I really do love and adore, it’s JenniFairy! I love her Pokemon pins, as well a her food pins too. We’ve been talking together for a while now through Instagram and I’ve discovered what a lovely person she is to talk to! We spoke about Japan, what she hopes to do with her store in the future and more. She’s one of my favourite artists to talk to, purely for how approachable and honest she is.

So, when we decided to work together, I was so excited! Whilst I have worked with loads of big companies and people this year, I have also learnt that I actually get more joy out of working with smaller/newer companies and independent artists, especially ones I have loved and bought from for many years.

JenniFairy is definitely one of those people! I’ve spoken about Jenn and her store on my blog before. Once back in 2017 when I first discovered her and mentioned her on my old independent artists series and literally this time last year when Jenn worked with Sour Attitude Club to create two gorgeous Pikachu enamel pins in their Pika Sweets Cafe range!

I remember wearing these pin badges to Birmingham Comic Con in March on my Persona 5 varsity jacketย and EVERYONE asked me about them. Who they were by, how much, etc. I felt so happy to share JenniFairy and her store with everyone at the con. ๐Ÿ˜€

I am so excited to share with you guys not only the pins that Jenn sent me to talk about on my blog but I’m also going to show you some I have bought myself! As always, I will share links, prices and of course which pins were gifted to me, as well as which ones I bought. ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of the items mentioned in this post have been gifted for promotional and reviewing purposes, so all views on this post are entirely my own. Items that have been gifted will have a * next to them.

I have a few different pin designs (and a sticker!) from a couple of different “series” that JenniFairy has released recently, as well as throughout the rest of 2019. ๐Ÿ™‚

The first series I will talk about is the most recent one, which is called Spoopy Cuties. I remember when Jenn was sketching the ideas up for these cute pin designs and I honestly fell in love with all the dressed up ghosts! I knew I had to pick up one of these when they came out.

The Spoopy Cuties will be perfect all year around! I know loads of people who love Halloween and I feel like these designs will be perfect for showing off your love of the spooky month. ๐Ÿ˜›

In the collection there are 6 designs to choose from – Pumpkin Buddy (you can also grab a glitter variant too which is special edition!), Boolloons, Angel Ghost, Devil Ghost, Witch Bunny and Boonicorn. I was gifted and bought the last 2.

Witch Bunny Enamel Pin* – A Grade ยฃ8.00 and B Grade ยฃ6.00 (link)

I know loads of people who actually picked up the Witch Bunny enamel pin and I can honestly understand why. This is one of my favourite designs to come out in the Spoopy Cuties because it’s so cute with that bit of Halloween too! The purple hat works really well with the white bunny and I especially love the star detailing on the hat too. This is on a gold finish and has two clutch fixes on the back. I do really love this bunny! It would be really cute to wear on a leather/fake leather jacket!

Boonicornย Enamel Pin – A Grade ยฃ8.00 and B Grade ยฃ6.00 (link)

This is the pin I knew I had to buy when it came out! I actually picked up a B Grade for a change and I have to be honest, this doesn’t look like a B Grade at all! If anything it looks like an A Grade, which makes me so happy. I can’t see any defects on it at all, which is good. The Boonicorn is so pastel, I love it! It has a pastel mane made of colours yellow, pink. blue and purple, as long as a sparkly white unicorn horn, which I found to be such a cute and magical unicorn touch! It’s face is so happy with it’s pink rosy cheeks and little arms. It’s just so damn cute! I love ghost themed things at Halloween so this pin is perfect for me! I already plan to wear it in my new itabag whilst I’m in Japan! This is on a gold finish and has two clutch fixes on the back.

The next collection I want to talk about is actually from the first Kickstarter that JenniFairy released this year, which is Big Cat Cuties. The campaign came out in July, with pins being sent out to backers at the start of October. I backed one of the designs, but Jenn was kind enough to also send me one of the cats I regret not picking up!

The collection (as the name suggests) is inspired by big cats of the world, with the collection including 6 designs to choose from – Jaguar, Black Panther, Snow Leopard, Lion, Lynx and Tiger. Again, I was gifted and bought the last 2.

Big Cat Cuties Tiger Enamel Pin* – ยฃ9.00 and Seconds ยฃ7.00 (link)

I actually think this is my favourite design out of all the Big Cat Cuties! It looks so bright with the orange and adorable with it’s little happy face! As I mentioned before, I did regret not backing for 2 pins because I wanted this one so much! This will look adorable on a cream jumper or cardigan at work, or even on a coat throughout the winter months. I know cat fans are also massive on cat toe beans, which the Tiger has! It has little black pads, so cute! It’s the only Big Cat Cutie design to have this. This is on a gold finish and has two clutch fixes on the back.

Big Cat Cuties Lynx Enamel Pin – ยฃ9.00 and Seconds ยฃ7.00 (link)

This is the Big Cat Cuties design I chose from backing the Kickstarter campaign and it’s so adorable! I’m not a massive “cat” fan, but I couldn’t resist this cute animal pin designs, especially as they were by JenniFairy. I love the grey colour of the Lynx design and especially the cute little pink nose. It adds such a perfect touch alongside the white and grey. This is an enamel pin I know I’ll wear loads, as I love the colour scheme so much. I love the fluffy detail on the ears, it’s so well done and really does bring out more detailing on the character. I would love to wear this both in my new itabag as well as on my red winter coat! This is on a gold finish and has two clutch fixes on the back.

Big Cat Cuties Sticker Sheet – ยฃ4.00 (link)

I was gifted these with my Kickstarter campaign award (Lynx) and just wanted to show them to you guys! They’re so damn cute and I don’t have the heart to use them yet, as I’m not 100% sure HOW I want to use them! You get all of the Big Cat Cutie designs here and these would make a lovely little Christmas gift for someone who loves cats.

The next pin I want to talk about is a design that brought me to JenniFairy’s store in the first place, which is her adorable Eeveelution collection called Chubbilutions! I actually already own a couple of the Eeveelution pins already, which is both Eevee (a seconds pin) and Sylveon. The one I opted for this time is Vaporeon, which is one of my favourites out of the 9 cuties! Of course you can pick up Eevee, Flareon, Jolteon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon. I would LOVE to own all these in the future! ๐Ÿ˜€

Vaporeon Enamel Pin* – ยฃ8.00 (link)

I’m so glad I chose this design as it’s absolutely adorable, as well as really well detailed! I love that all of the Chubbilutions are munching on their tails, which is such a cute idea. I love how JenniFairy worked on this for each Eeveelution too. I do love the tail in Vaporeon’s mouth though, the cute little mermaid pupper that it is! I also love the detail on the scales of the Vaporeon too along its tail and as odd as it sounds, it feels really comforting on the fingers when you stroke it. This pin will be perfect to wear all the time and I especially can’t wait to put this pin and the Sylveon one together in my itabag! This is on a gold finish and has two clutch fixes on the back.

As well as enamel pins, Jenn also sent me a sticker! I actually own the enamel pin design of the sticker that I was sent. I wanted this sticker to pop either into my Filofax diary, or even a notebook.

Pikachu Crepe Sticker* – ยฃ2.00 (link)

I love this design so much, it shouts Japan to me in every sense with both the Pikachu and the crepe. It’s so cute and really does remind me of when I went to Birmingham comic con in March and everyone adored this design, alongside the Pikachu ice cream design that I own both of the pins of.

Finally I’m going to be talking about my favourite item that Jenn sent me in my gifted package and it’s an item that is sadly no longer available as it was limited edtion. HOWEVER, Jenn will be bringing a special Christmas edition out of this little cutie, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for this!

Detective Pikachu Enamel Pin*

I love this pin so much and it’s one that Jenn was kind enough to put to one side for me before it sold out, as she knew how much I wanted one! As I mentioned before, this pin is now sold out but I just had to mention it here because I know JenniFairy will be bringing this back for Christmas… So make sure to keep eyes peeled for this limited edition cutie! The original design has his cute little deer stalker hat on and his takeaway cup of coffee! I love the pastel colour scheme for this too, it’s perfect and really does shout JenniFairy’s unique style to me! I loved Detective Pikachu so I’m so pleased to have a little pin badge to show this. This will definitely be going into my itabag and taken with me to Japan! This is on a gold finish and has one clutch fixes on the back.

So that is everything that both JenniFairy sent me, as well as the few bits I picked up myself. ๐Ÿ™‚

I cannot thank Jenn enough for giving me the opportunity to work with her for this blog post today and it is by far one of my favourite collaborations of 2019! I’m so excited to put these pins in my itabag, as well as on cardigans, coats/jackets and more to show off to the world and especially when I go to Japan! ๐Ÿ˜€

I love talking about independent artists on my blog, especially when I love what they do! If it means I can talk about something I adore and help my readers discover new places to buy kawaii goods from at the same time, it’s real blessing.

Overall I honestly love Jenn’s designs and they’re so unique and whenever I see her work I instantly know it’s her. Her designs are cute, pastel and chubby, can you get anymore kawaii than that? I don’t think so. ๐Ÿ˜›

Not only does she design Pokemon themed goods, but she does also design food and Japanese food, as well as some other animal designs too. Make sure to go and check out her store for more, as well as go and bag yourself some goodies as well! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’ve posted JenniFairy’s links down below so you can check out her store, as well as all her social media platforms. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian & Zamazenta Edition

You guys voted for today’s post over on my Twitter account, so I’m being a good blogger and bringing it to you today! ๐Ÿ˜€ I did also mention in my wish list for November that I had bought this too.. ๐Ÿ˜›

I decided recently that it would be a good idea to order my own Switch, whether it be the original or the Switch Lite due to Pokemon Sword and Shield coming out, as well as mine and Dane’s upcoming Japan holiday.

I settled on a Switch Lite, especially the limited edition Pokemon Zacian & Zamazenta one! If there is one thing I disliked about the Switch Lite’s when they were released in September is the three colours they came out with. Yellow, turquoise and grey. YUCK! Why not a purple, neon green or red, for example?

So when I saw that the Pokemon edition was grey, cyan and magenta I knew I had found the Switch I was after! I didn’t really want to go for a Switch as me and Dane already own one (it’s his!) which would be sort of pointless. So the Switch Lite was just a better option for me!

I am so excited for so many Switch game releases, including Pokemon Sword and Shieldย on Friday andย Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March 2020.

I already plan to take my Switch Lite with me to Japan and (as sad as it sounds) to work some days for lunchtimes when I want to play Pokemon or Animal Crossing.

So, I’m going to show off what the Switch Lite Zacian & Zamazenta Edition looks like! You may be thinking about picking this up yourself, or just want to know what a Switch Lite is like in comparison to the Switch.

I hope you enjoy this post today! It won’t be anything special, but I know you guys wanted me to write about it… So I am! ๐Ÿ˜€

First of all the box it comes in! It’s nothing special but shows on both the front and back what the Switch Lite will look like, both on the front and back. In the box you get your Switch Lite console, as well as a charger. The 3DS never came with a charger, so I’m really pleased that Nintendo learnt from their past mistakes and made sure to supply one with the Switch Lite.

Apart from this, there isn’t much to the box at all! However, the Switch Lite itself is gorgeous, in so many ways.

The Switch Lite is amazing! It’s gorgeous to look at, feels good in the hands (both weight and feel) and is a perfect handheld console.

It’s a light grey colour with accents of both white, cyan and magenta. The cyan and magenta were chosen after the names of the two new legendary Pokemon – Zacian (sword) and Zamazenta (shield). Cyan is blue, magenta is pink. I didn’t really think of this until the Switch Lite arrived on Friday. The cyan and magenta work really well with the light grey colour of the Switch Lite overall and if anything, makes it pop!

A D-Pad has now been added to the left hand side of the Switch Lite, which used to be 4 buttons previously on the Switch. This is the only noticeable thing in all honestly.

Something else I noticed is how much better the ZL and ZR buttons feel on the Switch Lite in comparison to the Switch. They just feel firmer and that little bit more satisfying to press… I hope this makes sense! ๐Ÿ˜›

Another thing, I don’t know if it’s because my Switch Lite is new, but I’m struggling at the moment to open both the game card slot at the top and the microSD slot at the bottom. This being said, Dane didn’t have an issue when I asked for some help! I think I’m just being too sensitive with my Switch Lite, which makes sense.

On the back of the Switch Lite is a gorgeous design of both the wolf legendary Pokemon, Zacian (sword) and Zamazenta (shield). The outline of both the wolf designs is in a darker grey which pop out of the back of the Switch Lite! It looks amazing and works well with the light grey and white which is on show around them.

My one issue with this however is the fact they could have added each legendary on the same side as their matching colour, instead of the opposite… I know this sounds fussy but in my head it makes sense…

So that’s all I can think to talk about with my Switch Lite! I really love it and have played a little but of Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee!ย but I have been on the lookout for a small game to play between now and the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Before I wrap up this post I thought I would show off some comparison images of both the Switch and Switch Lite alongside one another!

So! That is the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian & Zamazenta Edition! ๐Ÿ˜€

To buy this it will set you back ยฃ199.99, however I picked mine up from the official Nintendo UK store for ยฃ179.99 and I bet yourself wondering how I got it so cheap?

When me and Dane visited the Pokemon Center London (which you can read about here!) we popped upstairs to demo Pokemon Sword and Shieldย and we were given a new guidebook about Nintendo Switch, which included a 10% discount code for the Nintendo UK store! You can get one of your own by following this link! Fill in your information and you’ll receive one in the post. ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you guys think of the Switch Lite that I picked up? ๐Ÿ™‚ Do you own a Switch or Switch Lite? What games are your favourite and which are you excited for? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend! ๐Ÿ™‚

October Favourites ’19

We literally have 2 more months until 2020… This is scary. I can’t keep saying each month, “WOW THIS YEAR IS FLYING BY!” because it’s so repetitive… It is scary though, isn’t it?

October was a pretty busy month for me! As I write this blog post I’m currently on my last day off from work after an amazing week off. We didn’t do much in all honestly, it was more of a mixture between doing things fun together and relaxing separately and doing our own thing. We also went to the Pokemon Center in London on Monday, as most of you seem to have already read and enjoyed! It was a crazy day and I will link the blog post here so you can go and read it for yourself.

October really did fly by and I’m so not ready for November already! It’s going to be such a great and yet busy month, but I’ll talk more about that on my monthly newsletter, which will be live later today. SO make sure to subscribe if you haven’t already so you can see what I’ll be up to this month. ๐Ÿ˜›

Anyhoo, I’m going to plod on with the favourites of the month!

  • Nivea Indulgent Moisture Coconut Shower Cream Gel.

I picked up this shower cream gel from Poundland (obviously for a ยฃ1) on the whim that I needed some more shower gel and this stuff sounded good. For a ยฃ1, this is such a great shower gel as it really does leave my skin feeling baby soft after getting out of the shower. It has a gorgeous soft coconut scent to it too, which is always lovely! Coconut scents really do remind me of Fuerteventura so I always love to use coconut scented stuff in the shower/bath. This is such a good find for the price and I’m definitely going to pick it up again in the future.

  • Baylis & Harding Oatmeal, Milk and Honey Cream Hand Wash.

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this hand wash on my blog before and it’s really one I love! It’s not the best in the world for my eczema prone skin, but it’s better than most, that’s for sure! I recently had a phase of using Method’s foaming hand wash and I tell you what, it ruined my bloody skin! It made my hands so sore and they would split if I didn’t put much hand cream on them. Once those hand washes were used up, I decided to go back to my Baylis & Harding one, which smells gorgeous and keeps my hands feeling clean and somewhat soft. I really need to find a good hand wash for my hands. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  • Bath & Body Works Black Cherry Melot Hand Sanitizer.

I recently had a clear out of some of my old beauty related matter and I stumbled across a little metal tin FULL of Bath & Body Works hand sanitisers! At least 10 in there that are either brand new, or been used a few times. I was in need of some more sanitiser to keep in my bag so I decided to throw the Black Cherry Melot one in. This smells gorgeous and reminds me of autumn due to the warming scent of black cherries. Whilst me and Dane were at the Pokemon Center in London we used this hand sanitiser before we had something to eat and the scent lasted ages! It’s gorgeous! I’m planning to use up all of the bottles I have and then somehow buy some fresh new smells in 2020. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Lush Candy Cane Reuseable Bubble Bar.

This doesn’t look like the traditional/usual Candy Cane from Lush and this is because I’ve broken it up so it’s a little easier to use in my bath sieve. I’ve used a couple of chunks of these this month in the bath and even used one in a bath I ran for Dane. This isn’t something I’ve picked up recently and was actually a part of a Secret Santa gift from my previous job last Christmas. The person who bought me my Secret Santa gifts did good and I loved everything she bought me! ๐Ÿ™‚ This bubble bar doesn’t smell anything like peppermint, as you would expect it to and it doesn’t even smell of candy, as the name could suggest. It smells of bloody lemon… Lush’s favourite scent (insert face palm here)… This being said it leaves a lovely light red colour in the water and leaves me feeling soft. This has lasted ages and as you can see from the photos, I still have a fair few chunks left. I actually plan to use this in the bath tonight! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Taya Copaiba Amazon White Clay Advanced Blend Thickening Shampoo.

Finally we have a new shampoo! I was in need of something new as my previous one was really close to running out. I decided to go with Taya Copaiba again as I loved the shampoo I had previously from the brand. This one is a thickening shampoo and it really does thicken! I’ve used it a fair few times now and do feel like my hair looks and feels thicker after drying and especially when I plait my hair ready for the day! The only issue I’ve had so far is that this seems to take a lot to foam up and go through the hair without using too much product. I’m sure this is something I will get used to soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – The Dog House.

This is a TV show over on Channel 4 that me and Dane binge watched recently in a couple of days. We love dogs, so when we saw there was a TV show to show people rehoming dogs, we knew we had to watch. There are so many lovely dogs on the show and it makes us happy to know they were all adopted by loving families. We wish we could get a dog, so the fact we can’t, it’s nice to get some joy from TV shows like this. ๐Ÿ™‚ Plus all the cute dogs and puppies on there made us happy! It’s an 8 episode series and sadly we have now finished it. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I hope we get a second series of this show already.

Image taken from GIPHY

Favourite Movie – Joker.

We haven’t been to the cinema since July, so I decided to book for us to go and watch Joker a couple of days after it came out. It was worth going to and both me and Dane loved it! The film is a mixture of drama and thriller and really does work well. I love seeing how Arthur declines throughout the film and how well this is done by Joaquin Phoenix. The best thing about watching this in the cinema was the sound, which was amazing! Honestly loved this film and I’ll definitely look at picking it up on DVD or Blu-Ray when it comes out.

Favourite Book – Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe (link)

I haven’t been reading my manga/comic books again… I honestly just don’t feel like I have time to sit and read right now and I know this sounds like an excuse but I honestly do feel that way. I would take books with me to work to read, but I like to do my blog work on my breaks at work and soon enough I’ll be taking a Switch to work to play… Probably… Either way, you get the gist! This being said, I have on and off been reading a cartoon over on Webtoons right now called Lore Olympus, which is about Hades and Persephone. I’m really enjoying it and I really need to keep on reading it.

Favourite Album – Calvin Harris – Ready for the Weekend.

I go through phases of listening to certain albums that I haven’t listened to for ages. The album I am talking about this month is one of them. I LOVED Calvin Harris back in the day, but after theย Motion album, I kind of fell out of love. He’s just changed a lot from back in the day and whilst he’s improved dramatically, I just have too many memories of his first two albums and how much I loved them when I was younger. They were all the songs I’ve heard when on nights out with friends and I especially lovedย Ready for the Weekendย because of this. I remember when “Flashback” came out and I was at my “going out” prime. I was out most evenings partying with friends and would always request this song to play. I still love it to bits and whenever I’ve been driving home from work I’ve played it. Honestly, just love it! ๐Ÿ˜€

Favourite Game – Borderlands 3.

I could have mentioned this game on last months favourites to be honest, but it came out at the end of September, so I didn’t play it much throughout September. This game was constantly played by both myself and Dane and I’ve honestly enjoyed it so much and still am. I’m not a massive fan of first person shooters as I’m just rubbish at them, but the more I playedย Borderlands 3 the better I got and the more I enjoyed playing! I decided to go for a siren and have really enjoyed stomping on my enemies and sending them flying. ๐Ÿ˜› We’ve also played this online with friends, which has also been loads of fun! ๐Ÿ˜€ November is going to be such a busy gaming month what with Luigi’s Mansion 3 being out now, as well as Pokemon Sword and Shield.ย So, make sure you’re prepared for lots of game talk in November’s favourites post. ๐Ÿ˜›

So, that is all of my favourites from October! I honestly can’t believe how quick this month has flown by! It’s been a really busy one, but one I have loved too. I was so excited for certain things such as the Pokemon Center London, getting my nails done at a salon and especially my week off with Dane. It’s been good but I don’t know if I’m prepared for Christmas yet… ๐Ÿ˜›

How was everyone’s October? What were your favourite things and what did you get up to? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time all, take care and I hope you’re ready for the weekend! I know I am. ๐Ÿ˜›

Pokemon Center London – My Experience & Haul

This is a post I am writing literally 3 hours after I have arrived back home from our short trip to London… I am tired, unsure of what to do with myself right now and kinda poor. ๐Ÿ˜› If you haven’t gathered from the title, I went to the Pokemon Center in London with Dane and we bought some stuff… A lot of stuff as a matter of fact.

I wanted to talk about my experience of the Pokemon Center in London here on my blog, because not only have I been excited for this pop up store to come to the UK (as mentioned in my October wish list hereย as well as on my October Newsletter) but I am also a MASSIVE Pokemon fan and have been since 1999 when the first generation gamesย  came out in the UK.

So when I heard that we would be getting a Pokemon Center here in the UK, I knew I had to go… However there has been some ups and downs with this since it opened on the 18th October, which is over a week ago now. It shuts on the 15th November, when the new Sword and Shield games come out.

I went yesterday on the 28th October and I’m going to tell you all about it, including the good, the bad and the annoying. I’ll also be showing you what both me and my boyfriend Dane bought too… Because I just HAVE to show you all the awesome goodies we bought!

As you know as my reader(s) I’m from Birmingham and the Pokemon Center is in London. That’s either a 2 hour train or car journey to London for me. We did at first book a hotel and plan to leave early on the Monday to go and start queuing for the Pokemon Center at 5am… This plan didn’t wash with both me and my boyfriend though. We felt it was a waste of a hotel payment when we weren’t even sleeping in the room we’d paid for for long. So we cancelled our hotel, got our money back and decided to drive down early on the Monday morning.

We toyed with the idea of going stupidly early and semi stupidly early in the morning. Eventually we opted to arrive in London for 5am to begin queuing. We both woke up at 2am to get ready and at 3am we left to make our way down to London. It was a lovely quiet drive and we spoke about all sorts on the way down, including what we planned to buy, whether or not we would go upstairs to play the demo of Pokemon Sword and Shieldย as well as other things.

Before we knew it we arrived! We parked in the Westfield shopping centre and made our way through the quiet and empty shopping centre to join the queue. As we got closer to the queue people were bring brought inside by the security, which was good! It wasn’t exactly warm outside! Not long after we joined the end of the queue we were also led indoors into the warm, which I was grateful for! We joined the queue and sat down to make ourselves comfortable, we were due a lonnnnng wait!

Food and drink wise we made sure to take plenty with us to keep us going for the wait. We took Red Bull and Lucozade, some sweets and we even cooked some pizzas for us to have for lunch… Which we ate half of for breakfast and the rest for dinner in the evening! It was so odd, but that pizza was so yummy yesterday morning. ๐Ÿ˜› Some of the restaurants and cafes open at 8am, but I did see some people leave the queue and later came back with McDonald’s breakfast.

We were waiting by Love Coffee, which I toyed with going to for coffee when it opened at 8am. We didn’t bother in the end however, as I was feeling really dehydrated and caffeine wasn’t something I was all that arsed about… Which is a shock for me!

Toilets were close by to where we were queuing all of the day and there was also some drinks vending machines too and were contactless payments, which was handy! I never carry cash. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Security were amazing and if you don’t happen to be queuing as close to a toilet as we were, they’ll allow you to go and do your business and rejoin the queue when you return. Just make sure there is someone around to hold your space, or at least someone nearby who will remember you!

Entertainment… This is something you will definitely need to think about, especially depending if you’re on your own. No matter what time you join the queue, you will need to take some form of entertainment with you so that you don’t die of boredom! We didn’t take our Nintendo Switch in the end as I know Dane was worried about us being outside with it… What a shame we didn’t take it though as we were inside straight after we started queuing. I saw a lot of people playing their Switches together, as well as alone. We only took our phones for entertainment, which didn’t bother me too much, but I could tell that Dane was really bored!

If you don’t take a handheld games console with you, at least take a book and a battery pack for your phone! My phone didn’t go down to 10% until after we had left the Pokemon Center, which was good! But I know Dane’s ran low not long before we headed into the Pokemon Center.

Whether you’re going alone or not, both me and Dane regretted not taking earphones/headphones with us to tone out people talking and to kill some time as well… I made sure to connect to the free WiFi in Westfield as I didn’t want to eat into my data. I just regret it so much… It would have killed a lot of time as I could have binged YouTube videos and listening to podcasts.

I can’t think of anything else here in regards to what to plan for with waiting times… If you have any questions, just ask!

Something that annoyed me at this point of queuing was the amount of people who were taking up LOADS of space, when others (including us) were confined to hardly any space. If me and Dane both sat down next to each other we were practically on top of one another! A couple next to us had more than enough room to move over and give us more space, but the guy next to them wouldn’t move over. Behind that guy there were two guys and a girl who took up so much space. So much so, the guys were both lying down with their heads next to each other. It really pissed me off and they weren’t the only people don’t this. Security should have really nipped this in the bud, but didn’t, which pissed me off. I’ve posted the photo to show you guys what it was like. I’ve blanked out their faces but if you’re reading this who did this, shame on you.

Another thing that annoyed me was hearing people gossiping about stuff to do with the Pokemon Center that just wasn’t accurate or true. I could hear them telling people who hadn’t yet been (I have a feeling the person in question had been maybe once or twice) and what they were saying felt very scaremongering to me. I won’t mention what was being said as I don’t want to openly out someone, but it was frustrating me. I didn’t want to hear it, but I couldn’t help it. It was at this point I regretted not having some earphones/headphones on me… I don’t mean to sound nasty but I just want to be honest. I understand people sharing experiences or things they have read from the official Pokemon Center Twitter page, but to gossip about facts that are not true, is downright annoying…

A lot of people have mentioned online of how they have made friends with people in the queue, but sadly we just didn’t do this… We were tired, bored and hardly spoke to one another. Plus the people around us just didn’t seem that sociable.

Eventually around 8.15am we were moved forward and stood up for the remainder of out wait before entering the Pokemon Center. Security will keep you as bunched up as possible and don’t like you sitting at this point as it can take up more room! This was fine, but I was shattered. We were standing for 3 hours before we entered the Pokemon Center. I appreciated the sit down in the coffee shop we ventured to after.

Obviously we weren’t here at 8.15am! This was us at 11.15am.

Security were amazing! They were friendly to talk to, any questions you wanted to ask they were happy with answering and they made sure that people weren’t pushing in!

There were a couple of incidents where people either thought the queue started where we were and needed to be redirected and a few times people blatantly tried to push in. One guy was “on his phone” and stood at the end of the queue. Security asked him to move and leave and he was pretending to be on his phone, he blatantly wasn’t! He eventually got moved, but he clearly knew what he was doing was wrong.

Another great example of the security was how someone wasn’t feeling very well in the queue and they seemed to be having a panic attack. I think they were dehydrated and hungry, plus anxious so they were taken out of the queue to be sat and calmed down by security. Not long after we entered the store, I saw them in there. It was good to see they had perked up and been able to enter the store after queuing!

Please excuse my fat, tired, anxious face! ๐Ÿ˜›

Eventually after six and a half hours later we entered the store! We were greeted by happy staff at the front of the store, which was lovely! The store is tiny… Smaller than I thought it was going to be! It was really busy too, which was a shame because it meant I couldn’t “enjoy” the aesthetic of it as much as I had planned to.

For all the time we waited outside of the Pokemon Center, we realistically only spent 30-45 minutes in there. Crazy, right?

Wait… What is that pink thing on the back?

Mmm let’s look closer at that pink thing…

Would you look at that! It’s a lonely Ditto. ๐Ÿ˜› Honestly if it wasn’t for the fact both me and Dane had picked up our 5 items each, I would have grabbed this forever alone Ditto. ๐Ÿ˜›

Look… He’s still there. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ๐Ÿ˜›

You go into the store and on the right you have the tills and on the left you have a section the Detective Pikachu merchandise and the new Galar starters. Still on the left you also have a mixture of the Galar starters again and some London exclusive merchandise.

We made sure to grab a London Pikachu plushie each! We kept one and we also bought one for a YouTube friend Found on Film, which I sent off today for her. FYI she paid for the Pikachu as well as the postage costs and I didn’t charge any extra for doing this for her. Yes, I am annoyed at people buying and selling stuff on eBay, but I don’t mind when people help out others.

Then you can go through a tunnel style part of the store to go to the back of the shop. On the left there was loads of Nintendo Switch stock for sale, including the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite consoles, games and accessories for the Switch and Switch Lite. Next to that was a section FULL of various plushies, especially the cute Eeeveelution plushies! I toyed with the idea of picking up a Vulpix plush, but left it. I can always pick one up when I go to Japan if I really want one.

All along the right hand side were Pokemon Trading Card related merchandise and London exclusive clothing merchandise. I knew I wanted both of the London exclusive hoodies (one has a zip and one has a pullover) and when I went over to both of the hoodies in their sections there weren’t many sizes left! I made sure to grab XL’s in both and shoved them in my basket! I’m definitely not an XL in unisex, but I wanted to make sure that both of these fit me as I’d heard things about the sizes come up small. Plus, if Dane wants to wear the zip hoodie, he can, as it fits him too! ๐Ÿ˜€

Dane also picked himself up one of the white Pikachu pocket t-shirts too, which he quickly grabbed a bigger size in due to the sizing issues. I’m glad he picked that t-shirt up for himself!

Sadly I did not get ANY photos of this part of the shop, apart from me standing in front of the photo at the back. This was just due to how manic this part of the shop was… The only images I got were of the Eeveelution plushies. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Then for the rest of our time in the shop we made sure to relax a little (we grabbed the bits we really wanted first) and have a nose around the shop. We ventured back over to the London exclusive items and picked up a poster, some stickers and I found some of the London socks thrown on top of the Galar starter merchandise, which I gave to Dane. The socks had actually sold out so we were VERY lucky to have found these!

We finally went over to the Detective Pikachu merchandise to have a nose at what they had. As regular and older readers will know, back in May this year I bought the lifesize Detective Pikachu plushie from Pokemon Center Japan (which you can see and read about here) through YY Kawaii and I still to this day love it! They were selling this plushie at the Pokemon Center in London, but it had sold out by the time I got into the store. However, they did have the smaller versions. I picked one of them up and instantly fell in love with it. It looked so happy with it’s face and it really did make me smile. I put it into my basket and Dane even picked himself up a little key chain version too! Now we have a big happy Detective Pikachu plush family! ๐Ÿ˜›

That was it! We were happy with all our purchases and headed to the till.

In regards to stock levels, when the queue closes for the day and any other updates in regards to the Pokemon Center, their Twitter page PokemonPopUp is the best place to go for updates! I constantly watched it whilst I was in the queue after the store opened at 10am for updates of what had sold out as we queued. For example I did toy with the idea of picking up the fleece blanket they were selling, but this sold out before we went in… Which I was gutted about! This being said, I’ll live. ๐Ÿ˜›

We decided to go upstairs to have a go at the Pokemon Sword and Shield demo, as whilst we’ve pre-ordered both the games I fancied having a look upstairs, take some photos and of course give them demo a go on a Nintendo Switch Lite. I’ve actually ordered myself the limited edition one forย Pokemon Sword and Shieldย which I’m excited about! So, I wanted to have a go on a Switch Lite to see what it was like.

One of my favourite parts of the Pokemon Center was actually the photo wall they had upstairs! You could pick up and hold one of the Pokemon that is going to be a part of the new generation and I decided to grab Grookey for my photo. This is the Pokemon I’m planning to choose right now for my starter! I have to be honest (and vain) and say how much I love the photos that Dane took of me here! I’m not as keen on the photo from downstairs in the Pokemon Center and same can be said for the one outside too. I don’t know why… I guess I look a mixture of tired, anxious and stressed due to the waiting and then how busy it was inside the Pokemon Center. Upstairs where the demos were taking place was lovely and chilled, which I enjoyed. ๐Ÿ™‚

The demo was fun, for the 10 minutes it lasted for. You were playing through one of the gym puzzles before you go and play the gym leader. I never got to finish battling the gym leader, but Dane did. We both loved it and enjoyed playing it on the Switch Lite! I plan to talk about the Switch Lite on my blog when it arrives next week (maybe the week after) by the way. ๐Ÿ™‚

Once you’ve started to go upstairs by the way, you will not be allowed to go back into the Pokemon Center… You’ll be told this as you’re about to go upstairs so make sure you’re happy with everything you’ve done before going to play the demo.

Then when we had finished the demo we headed downstairs for one more photo of the Pikachu in the window and headed to a coffee shop for a sit down, something to eat and drink and chilled with my favourite independent artists Chibi Shibbyย (check out her store here!).

Shibby kindly picked up the umbrella for me from the Pokemon Center when she visited the weekend it opened! Due to how busy it was I started to get anxious that I wouldn’t end up going. Not only that, but I also worried that when we did go, the umbrella (which at the time was the thing I wanted the most!) would be sold out too. It wasn’t when we went, but we couldn’t see it anywhere!

We sat and chilled with Shibby for a bit and before we know it, we were all ready to head off home. Two hours later we got home at 3.30pm. We were shattered for the rest of the evening, ate our leftover pizza from the morning and I even filmed a video of a live haul and feelings about the Pokemon Center on my Instagram page.

FINALLY I am going to show you the goodies I picked up, the prices and why I picked things up. You know, the usual stuff I say when I write a haul post. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • London City Pikachu Umbrella – ยฃ29.00

This umbrella is really hefty and it feels like a “professional” one, if that makes sense? It’s an automatic spring umbrella too, so when you push the button on the handle the umbrella opens up. It’s a navy umbrella with a Pokemon Center London logo and Pikachu on, but it’s inside the umbrella where the magic happens! Inside it’s grey with all the different London Pikachu poses, as well as some UK related things a Pokemon inspired red postbox, a lamp post, green bushes, clouds and even an Eevee. I am beyond excited to use this umbrella, but also anxious as hell because if this breaks, I will cry! xD As I mentioned in the post, Chibi Shibby was kind enough to pick this up for me (of course I paid her for it).

  • London City Pikachu Scene Poster – ยฃ10.00

This wasn’t something neither me nor Dane contemplated picking up but when I saw it on show in the store, I just knew I had to get it. It was shown to the public a week or so before the store opened, which I fell in love with! I know a lot of people thought it wasn’t anything special, but honestly I did really like it. Granted, they could have done more but in my mind if they had of done more it would have looked too much and then people would have complained about that. You know? So yeah, the print made me happy! This will eventually be put into a frame and put on the wall somewhere in our house! I would have taken this out of the tube to show you all, but I want to keep it in there until we decide to take it out and frame. Dane picked this up in the store.

  • London City Pikachu Socks – ยฃ12.00

As I mentioned this was something I saw on the starter plushies and I grabbed them quickly for Dane! I would have loved to pick these up myself, but I feel like I had picked up enough stuff and I knew Dane would really like and get some use out of these. More so than I would have, for sure. I’m glad we managed to grab these considering they had been sold out. ๐Ÿ˜› These socks feel really quite thick and they’re also really long, which is awesome! I know for a fact Dane will wear these in the summer with shorts. ๐Ÿ˜› Dane picked these up in the store.

  • London Pikachu Hiding T-Shirt – ยฃ24.00

This was originally a t-shirt I wanted to pick up, but left it as I wasn’t all that arsed considering I wanted the hoodies more. I was really happy when I turned around and saw that Dane had picked this up! I had read loads of people saying to pick up a size larger in the clothing as it seemed to come up smaller, which Dane did for this t-shirt. It fits him perfectly, but one issue we both have with it, is that it’s rather see through… This isn’t a problem, Dane can always wear something underneath it. ๐Ÿ™‚ This t-shirt is really cool and I’m glad he picked it up for that alone! The London Pikachu is hiding in a little pocket on the front. I love t-shirts with these pocket designs. ๐Ÿ™‚ Dane picked this up in the store.

  • Detective Pikachu Plush Key Chain – ยฃ12.00

This little key chain version of the Detective Pikachu plush is adorable! Dane plans to keep it in his card, which I think is such a cute idea! A part of me was tempted to do this myself, but I don’t think I will do currently with my car. This is so soft and very small! They had loads of these left for sale, which isn’t a surprise. This would be cute to keep on an ita bag or a backpack, as it has this little clip so you wouldn’t need to worry about it falling off. ๐Ÿ™‚ Dane picked this up in the store.

  • Detective Pikachu Plush – ยฃ20.00

I cannot tell you how bloody happy this plush has made me. As I am writing this post I am currently every now and then looking over at it, as it is peering out of the top of the bag with all the goodies in from the Pokemon Center. I cuddled with this a little last night as me and Dane chilled out in bed and I really enjoyed it. I sound like such a kid, but sometimes things like that really do make you feel like a kid again. I just love it’s little face. It just looks so perfect and happy! I definitely have the perfect plushie here out of the bunch… ๐Ÿ˜› I have to add here, I loved Sooty as a kid and not going to lie, I still love watching it now for the nostalgia and this plush sort of reminds me of Sooty due to the yellow colour and it’s cute little face. I think that’s one of the reasons it has made me so happy haha! I picked this up in the store.

  • London City Pikachu Poke Plush – ยฃ20.00

Of course I had to pick this plush up… I’d have been crazy if I hadn’t. These sold out not long after we left the Pokemon Center (including the demo section upstairs) and I’m glad we were able to grab one. These were in pretty good stock when we grabbed ours, but this was something I wanted to make sure we grabbed first! I do not have a clue where I’m going to keep this little guy, but at the moment I am contemplating my manga cupboard, if not my cabinet that is full of Pokemon Center plushies from Japan. I love this plush, he’s got so much detailing to him and he’s just perfect! He has a bowler hat on, a Psyduck style umbrella, a tie that is covered in Poke balls and all around is pudgy and cute! He was well worth the ยฃ20 I paid. ๐Ÿ˜› I picked this up in the store.

  • London City Pikachu Stickers (4 Stickers) – ยฃ6.50

This was a random purchase and was a toss up between these and the greetings cards. I feel like if I’d have bought the greetings cards, I would have never used them… However with the stickers I’m planning on making a little scrapbook for our Japan trip, so I would like to stick loads of cute stickers I am accumulating together right now onto a scrapbook cover… OR do the same with a notebook for myself! I’m also planning on sending one of these stickers to someone in a Christmas card. ๐Ÿ™‚ I picked this up in the store.

  • London City Pikachu Crest Hooded Sweatshirt – ยฃ65.00

This was something I REALLY wanted as I’d seen photos of it and it just looked really comfortable, different and it’s limited edition… Why wouldn’t I want it! I’m not a small girl and usually when I buy hoodies I pick them up in a L… A man’s L more often than not. I can rarely pick up clothing from the Pokemon Center’s in Japan due to the sizing, as Asian sizes are usually a lot smaller than ours are here in the UK. So getting genuine Pokemon Center clothes is rare for me (I say this but I do own one Flareon tee…) so I knew I wanted this. I grabbed an XL to make sure it was lovely and baggy and damn it is!

It’s a dark grey zip up hoodie, so this will be perfect if I’m popping out for a while and just want to throw something on quick. It’ll be perfect for work too whenever I have dress down days and in the summer when I want something light to wear on the way to and from work. On the back there is a gold photo of the London Pikachu, with the year 2019 and London. There is even Mew and Mewtwo on the back too, which I didn’t notice until just now! The hood also has all the London Pikachu designs in, which is amazing! Finally on the left side of the chest is a Pokeball logo. I cannot wait to rock this this week. It wasn’t cheap by the way, I know but this is limited and worth every fucking penny to me! As this is an XL Dane can wear it too. ๐Ÿ™‚ I picked this up in the store.

  • London Sweatshirt Black – ยฃ55.00

This is the final item on this list and it wasn’t a sweatshirt I wanted originally, but the more people I saw sharing it and talking about it, the more I wanted it. I’m so pleased I picked this up and especially glad that I grabbed an XL in this too, although I feel like an XXL would have been better. This fits perfectly with a long sleeved t-shirt underneath, but I would have wanted it a teeny bit baggier… There is so much detail on this sweatshirt and for that I love it!

This is a black pull over hoodie, but it’s being called a sweatshirt with some yellow detailing in places. On the front on the left hand side there is a London Pikachu in a sitting position, which is adorable! This design hasn’t been on much merchandise alone, so I’m glad they did it on this sweatshirt. Below the pocket on the right hand side there is the coordinates of the Pokemon Center in London! Which is amazing! This store will never be there again (unless the petition actually works and Nintendo keep it permanently!) and it makes me feel cool to wear something like this. It’s just an awesome idea and I love it. It’s the main thing I loved about the sweatshirt. Then on the back there is a yellow Poke ball stitched on the left shoulder, which I didn’t notice until I tried the sweatshirt on and Dane pointed it out to me. I honestly love this and can’t wait to rock it during the colder seasons and especially in Japan!ย I picked this up in the store.

I want to make a disclaimer here, I am in no way showing off how much I bought and how much I spent… I mean let’s face it, why would I show off how fucking skint I am now?! I saved up for the Pokemon Center as I planned to spend a lot of money and I have zero regrets. I am a massive Pokemon fan… No matter what and it’s not like it’s everyday that we get a Pokemon Center here in the UK!

I wanted to show prices so that if people were/are planning to go to the Pokemon Center themselves, at least they/you could see the prices for items. ๐Ÿ™‚

That was everything I bought anyhoo and now it’s time to wrap up this VERY long post…

So, what did I think of the Pokemon Center London? I have so many feelings about it that I will list below:

  • I loved the Pokemon Center London, even with all the queuing. I waited 6 and a half hours, people have waited a lot longer than I have so I cannot complain. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t love queuing but before I knew it, we were going in!
  • I hated how busy it was inside. Some people were rushing around and grabbing what they wanted, whilst others were relaxed and taking their time. I was actually one of the people rushing to grab what they wanted, as I was worried I had travelled all that way to find all the stuff I wanted was out of stock. I didn’t want that worry!
  • I HATED how much anxiety I had in the run up to going, as well as moments before entered the store and even when I was in there.
  • BUT I loved the relief of when I got the goodies I wanted the most (two hoodies and London Pikachu).
  • If anything the thing I have hated the most from the Pokemon Center London is how selfish people have been. I’m not going to go into detail on my post but this store opening has really brought out how people can be.

This being said, I loved it. The child deep down inside of me was really excited for the pop-up store and I’m so pleased that both me and Dane went and we had a lovely time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Would I go again? No. Not at all. Honestly I don’t need to. I don’t even think I would go with a friend because I honestly can’t be arsed to queue again. ๐Ÿ˜›

If you are looking to head to the pop-up store yourself then I will pop all the information down below for you, as there is plenty to take in! ๐Ÿ˜›

Bubble Boba Halloween 2019*

If there is a time of year I love, it’s definitely autumn and in autumn all the cool stuff happens, including Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Halloween is just over a week away now and I’ve already made my plans to chill out at home, playingย Luigi’s Mansion 3 with my boyfriend and relax. Not exactly the spookiest evening in the world, but it’ll be amazing nonetheless!

A couple of weekends ago I was kindly invited by both Bubble Boba and Amy over at Writing into the Ether for an evening of Halloween antics and to try the two new limited edition Halloween drinks for 2019!

I’ve been to Bubble Boba for an event in May where we all got the chance to make our own bubble tea drinks, which was so much fun! I was so happy to be invited again for an event and couldn’t wait to try the Halloween drinks that Bubble Boba have brought out for Halloween this year!

I really do love Bubble Boba and whenever I’m in Fargo Village I always make sure to pop in to grab a drink… My two favourites are red velvet cheesecake and matcha milk tea with pudding.

Both myself and my boyfriend Dane were invited to the event, which was amazing! I do love going to food and drink related events with Dane as and when I can, as I love writing about it from a couples point of view. We both love bubble tea too and are always enjoying discovering new places wherever we go.

Alongside me and Dane, both Amy and Lizzie from over at Hello Lizzie Bee were at the event too! It was lovely to see Lizzie as I hadn’t seen her for a while. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you love my content in regards to Japan, you’ll definitely love hers!

I was excited to give the Halloween drinks a go, but sadly I was unable to try the one drink due to allergies… However, Dane tried it for me and he loved it so much!

The food and drink gifted during the evening was for reviewing purposes, so all views on this post are my own.

As I mentioned, Bubble Boba have brought out two new drinks for Halloween:

Witches Brew Apple pie milkshake – A creamy Halloween treat with sweet apple pulp, shortbread ashes and cauldron slime.

Jack-O’-Lantern Milk Tea – A tricky tea that fuses pumpkin spice with all the things nice… Can you smell burning?

Witches Brew was a definite hit with everyone, especially Dane who loved it! This is the drink I wasn’t able to try due to allergies but I’m glad he was able to enjoy it. You need to give it a good shake before you drink so that all the sweet apple pulp and shortbread can mix together! Dane described it of being a drink-apble-pie* in a thick milkshake.

*See what we did there? ๐Ÿ˜›

I tried the Jack-O’-Lantern, which was such an autumnal drink for me! I’m not a massive fan of Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks (or any coffee place for that matter!) so I worried I wasn’t going to enjoy this one. I did really like it though. I personally couldn’t taste the pumpkin… But I don’t know if this is due to the fact I don’t eachย much pumpkin anyway? This is just such a warming drink though and the smells and flavours from it reminded me of Bonfire Night, standing around the fire to keep warm and watching the fireworks. It really did flood memories back of the first Bonfire Night me and Dane went to in 2017. I loved it and I can’t wait to go out for Bonfire Night this year with him.

You can have your drinks hot or cold, I decided to have the Jack-O’-Lantern warm, after it was recommended to me and with some whip cream on top. It was delicious and a real treat! However, I did find I was struggling to drink it after getting halfway through. It’s a very filling drink and due to how warming it is with the flavours, for me it was a little too much. This being said though, I enjoyed it from start to finish! You could maybe go for a smaller size if you’re similar to me and now a massive spice and pumpkin fan.

Alongside drinks, we were also given some yummy bubble waffles and given the option of adding whatever we wanted to each of them! Dane opted for bubblegum and raspberry sauce and ice cream, whilst I opted for chocolate sauce and matcha powder.

Can never say no to yummy bubble waffles! I couldn’t finish mine so I took it home with me to nibble the next day. ๐Ÿ˜›

For our time there during the event we were in awe of all the amazing Halloween decorations that Bubble Boba had put up around the store! They really went for it, all whilst leaving the adorable alpaca plushies across the cupboard in the store. I loved that the store went from spooky to cute in seconds. ๐Ÿ˜›

We were also given some Halloween hats and headpieces to wear too! This was a little bit of fun and I really enjoyed it.

The night came to an end and me and Dane hung around Fargo Village for a little to chill out before we headed home.

I had such an amazing evening and although I’m not going to do much for Halloween this year, it has definitely got me into the Halloween spirit! I’m going to decorate my house on Saturday ready for the spooky week ahead!

If you’re local to Coventry, make sure to go and check out the two Halloween drinks that Bubble Boba have on offer! Which one takes your fancy?

Iโ€™ll also link down to their social media pages too, just in case you want to go and check them out and follow them! I know they recently opened up new store in Cardiff Universityโ€™s student union! If youโ€™re also local to the Coventry or Cardiff stores you can also use Deliveroo or Uber Eats to get your Bubble Boba bubble fixes direct to your door!

5 Films That Make Me Sob

I have a reason why I am writing this post today… So bear with me! ๐Ÿ˜›

A few nights ago I was watching one of my favourite films from my childhood,ย A Little Princess.ย I remember my mom buying me that film on video and I fell in love with it. It was such a heartbreaking story, but with the best ending!

Watching that film and talking about it on Twitter with followers got me thinking about what other films make me cry whilst watching them. I never used to cry at films, but around 2012/2013 something broke in me and I started crying at pretty much anything sad in a movie!

So, I thought it would be interesting to share with you number ofย films make me cry and which scenes hit me hard!

This post WILL contain spoilers! I’ll try and not write as many spoilers if it can be avoided, but for some it will be hard. I will pop a “SPOILER ALERT” when one is coming up just as an extra! This post will also ramble loads, which is the point of the post in the first place. ๐Ÿ˜›

1. A Little Princess

I’ll start off by talking about the one that inspired me to write this post. I cried so damn hard whilst I watched this film recently, I don’t feel like I’ve cried that much for agggggges! I must have cried on three separate occasions!

When Sara’s father leaves to go to war, I was sobbing at the line, “I already know you by heart”. OH GUYS WHY DO THIS TO ME?! The bit that got me the most is when Sara is sitting in the window, cuddling her Emily doll and watching her father leave. At this point the film hasn’t been on that long and we already have the first out of three crying moments. DAMN!

SPOILER ALERT – When Sara is told her father has died and is made to be a slave for the school, that’s just sad, okay? But she also finds this news out on her birthday and doesn’t get the chance to “enjoy” the rest of the day. The worst past is that she has to spend the rest of her birthday on her own it in a leaking attic with just her Emily doll, a book and her thoughts. OH and let’s not forget her locket with the only photos of both her dead parents is taken away. Urgh my heart. I broke.

SPOILER ALERT – Finally we have the scene where Sara has escaped to the house next door (and nearly died doing so!) to discover her father is alive and well (but at this point he has amnesia), you see how happy Sara is and relived that her life of slavery and torture is over, only for her father not to know what the hell is going on! I FUCKING SOB OKAY. EVEN BEFORE SHE SEE’S IT’S HER DAD!!! But the bit that gets me the most is when Sara is being taken away by the police in the rain and her father runs out and shouts, “SARA?!” after his memory returns and he realises who the little girl is. I am adding the scene above because you need to watch it. If you haven’t watchedย A Little Princessย you need to. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Dumbo

I watched this film recently (back in March to be exact haha) and I sobbed throughout. My face was just damp and I was tiring myself out from crying so much. I put it on as me and Dane had bought a Dumbo puzzle to work on together and I thought it would be nice to watch the film as we did the puzzle. It was definitely a bad idea. The scene where Dumbo’s mother is locked up and he goes to see her breaks me every damn time. Where she rocks him and baby mine plays. The gif I have attached above is the bit where I break, because I know what’s coming. Just the fact he’s so happy to see her, but then immediately sad is really heartbreaking to watch. I don’t care if this is a cartoon, we’ve all been there where we have seen someone but know it won’t last forever, or need to say goodbye to someone after a short time. This is the film where if I need a good cry, this is on straight away!

3. Precious

Likeย A Little Princess, Precious contains various scenes that really pull on my heart strings for so many reasons. For a start the acting in incredible and so passionate and that passion alone makes me cry.

SPOILER ALERT – This film is set in the 80’s and as many of us know, HIV was a big thing and it wasn’t quietening down as the years went on. Precious discovers her father has died due to the aids virus and goes for a checkup to make sure she doesn’t have it… Sadly she does and she sits in class, pencil to paper and writes, “Why me?” Ms Rain notices this and asks Precious to go for a talk. This is where Precious tells the whole class she’s HIV positive. Ms Rain tries to encourage Precious but it doesn’t work and results in Precious breaking down about her life, including things she’s never had/done and even about the abuse she’s endured. “Love beat me. Raped me. Called me an animal. Made me feel worthless. Make me sick.” With Ms Rain replying, “Your baby loves you. I love you.”

I get shudders at this scene and of course I cry. Ms Rain cries and walks away from the class due to how emotional she is at the point. We begin to realise that Precious hasn’t felt or shown love throughout the whole film and it’s at this point, she is finally told she is loved. Not just by her baby but by Ms Rain, who has helped her more than anyone. It’s such a strong and powerful scene and one that was needed in the film. Precious deserves to be loved after the shit she has been put through.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT – This is the second scene that makes me cry and I just knew I had to add it above, because although it is incredibly sad and powerful I just love it so much. It’s the last scene of the film where Precious’ mother comes in to talk about what happened with Precious and the abuse she endured at the hands of her father. It comes about what happened whilst Precious was a baby, but most of all we FINALLY see some emotion from Precious’ mother and due to that it’s just sad. It’s sad most of all to hear how she felt… Even though she does creep back in with her bitter, angry, bitch self. She treats Precious like shit and she explains why. You do feel sorry for the woman. Her partner wanted and DID have sex with their daughter, so much so that he impregnated her not once, but twice. “My man who was supposed to be loving me, who was supposed to be making love to me, was fucking my baby.” Even though she continues and reverts back to her usual self, this is heartbreaking. No one EVER wants this to happen, so the fact it does and she explains this in such a poetic way is sad to watch and hear. Mo’nique played the part so fucking well and I adore her for that alone.

4. Forrest Gump

If you don’t cry at this movie, you’re just an animal and need to think over your life for a while. ๐Ÿ˜› AND if you haven’t watched this movie, then what are you doing with your life? Stop reading this and go and bloody watch!

This film makes me cry at various moments throughout. Forrest has my heart in bits, even at happier moments. I’m not even going to put spoiler announcements on, because I know for a fact you will have seen this film.

Quite near the start Forrest makes me cry, when he’s telling the story of him trying to get a seat on the school bus, with everyone denying him. Then, Jenny offers him a seat. I sob at this because I feel so sorry for the little boy, his first day of school and because he has braces on his legs is singled out. It’s nice that someone is nice to him and for that, I cry.

When Forrest is desperately searching for his friends during the war scene, it’s such a powerful scene, but when he finds Bubba and Bubba says, “I wanna go home.” I cry. It’s so heartbreaking, but when Forrest says, “Bubba was gonna be a shrimpin’ boat captain, but instead he died right there by that river in Vietnam.” I fucking bawl! It’s more so the way that Tom Hanks says the line. Forrest isn’t upset, but you can hear from the way he words it that he’s upset. Sometimes the way someone says something can be more upsetting, than what the emotion behind it.

I could go on forever about scenes from this film and how much they make me cry, so I’ll leave you with the worst one for me. Everything about the scene where Forrest is stood at Jenny’s graveside is sad and heartbreaking to me. From the music in the background, to what Forrest is saying. Most of all we finally see Forrest break down and cry and show some emotion. Of course we see this when meets his son, but I find that this is different. This is Jenny, the woman he has always loved and fought for throughout the film and now she’s gone after he finally “gets the girl”. We never see this emotion, even when his mother and Bubba die. We gradually hear him break throughout the scene, espeically at the point where he is talking about their song and how product of him he is. I can only imagine this is due to how proud he is, but also I suppose is because it’s the one thing left that reminds him of Jenny. He breaks even more so when he says, “I miss you, Jenny. If there’s anything you need, I won’t be far away.” Which in itself again, is heartbreaking because although she is no longer there, he will ALWAYS be there for her, like he was when she was alive.

Then we have the scene as he walks away and all the birds leave the tree above her grave. Now think back to when both Jenny and Forrest were younger and she prays to God to become a bird and fly far, far away? There you go.

Fuck Forrest Gump is just so sad. I know if I need a good cry, this is it!

5. Theย Green Mile

I didn’t want to mention this film in my list… Not because it’s bad or anything but because EVERYONE cries at the film, or at least generates some emotion at the last scene where John Coffey is executed. It’s a sad scene. We find out that John is actually innocent of his crime and was actually trying to revive the two little girls who were murdered. Paul is the one to give the green light on John being executed, but at first isn’t able to bring himself to do so. With some encouragement from his colleague and even from Jogn himself, Paul can finally give the order and says, “Roll on two” and the execution begins. Paul has tears in his eyes, as the camera pans to the other wardens, some clearly upset and crying, whilst others composed. It’s after this scene where you can hear the chair doing its job and the music playing that I cry. Then the lights in the execution room post and spray light behind Paul, this is to show that John is in pain. I don’t want to see John killed, he’s a miracle from God and never did anything wrong. It’s a very powerful and moving scene and quite honestly it’s one I couldn’t not mention in this post. The whole film makes me cry, just like Forrest Gump and A Little Princess, but I wanted to mention the main one for me and the one that stands out the most.

So those are 5 films that spring to mind where I sob my eyes out throughout! A lot of films didn’t make the list including these 5 below:

Avengers: Endgame

The Fault in Our Stars

Nil by Mouth

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

A Silent Voice

I do apologise for this post being semi rambly, it was kind of meant to be that way! When I’m crying and sobbing at this films, this is exactly how I will talk.ย Dumboย recently when me and Dane watched it together was hilarious for me rambling about why I was crying and how sad it was making me, in a hilarious manner!

I hope you actually laughed at this post, instead of crying!

What films make you sob your eyes out? I’d love to hear! I love a good cry at films, especially now I can. I never used to cry much at films. ๐Ÿ˜›
