Christmas Tag 2020

On My Way Christmas GIF by MOODMAN

Christmas is now less than a week away and you know what? I have zero festive spirit behind me and it kinda sucks. SO, I thought I would have a go at being festive in the run up to Christmas and found this Christmas tag online! I’m going to nominate everyone who reads this post to give this tag a go themselves!

I think I’m not feeling festive due to a mixture of COVID, age and especially due to the loss I experienced in September. So, I would really love to get into the festive spirit now… Especially with Christmas just around the corner. I really hope you guys enjoy the tag and take part in it too!

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

This is quite an easy one and it’s hands down Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. I just fell in love with the film more so than the original one… But I do love Home Alone just the same! I just found it to be the perfect Christmas film growing up, but I also loved watching it throughout the year too. It’s usually the first Christmas film I stick on in the year and this year it was kind of different to the other times I’ve watched it. I found myself questioning a lot of what happened and it made me laugh! A couple of runner ups here are Jingle All The Way and The Grinch (the one with Jim Carrey).

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

I don’t remember to be perfectly honest with you… I know in 2017 we had snow just before Christmas which was amazing! I literally had to Google when we last had a white Christmas in Birmingham and apparently it was 2010… But I cannot remember that for the life of me. 😛

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Mostly at home now, but me and Dane tend to change it up each year and go to each others families together Christmas Day. However I think after this year we’ll be staying at home all day. I like to be able to cook our Christmas dinner together but then we tend to have to “rush” and then go out not long after eating. It’ll be nice not to have to rush around this year.

What’s your favourite Christmas song?

Paul McCartney – “Wonderful Christmastime” and Slade – “Merry Christmas Everybody” are two that always come to mind. I do like “Last Christmas” as well BUT I overheard it so much one year that I can’t stand when I hear it now. This year, as of yet I haven’t listened to ANY Christmas songs yet and I’m happy with that… 😛

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Not really to be honest with you, we like to wait until the big day to open our gifts for one another. We get breakfast, snuggle up in bed and exchange gifts. I’m quite excited for Dane to have his presents this year as I’ve really spoilt him. 🙂

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comic Blitzen, Rudolph (of course) and Vixie? I know there’s more but I can’t think of them… *Googles* Prancer, Dancer, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Dasher, Vixen, Blitzen, and Rudolph! I got five out of nine so I didn’t do toooooo badly! 😛

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

We don’t really have any to be perfectly honest with you… I think one we’ve really gotten now is the whole, breakfast in bed and opening presents together. 🙂

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It’s fake. I’d buy a real one but our living room isn’t big enough for it… Although I have always wanted a tiny one to keep on the table OR by the front door over December. Maybe next year. 🙂

What’s your favourite holiday food/treat/sweet?

I’m a sucker for the dinner to be honest with you. I love sweet ham over Christmas with pigs in blankets, massive Yorkshire puddings, my mom’s gravy (mines good but it will never beat hers!) and crispy AF roast potatoes. 😀 I’m cooking lamb this year. The first Christmas we did at home (2018) the meat I cooked wasn’t good and it was such a shame, so I’m giving it another go this year in the hopes it’s really yummy! 🙂

Be honest. Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?

Giving gifts. I love being able to buy gifts for people who either won’t buy the item in question for themselves, or surprise them with something I know they would love and appreciate but don’t actually know about and such. Plus it’s always nice to buy a gift and see someone’s face light up. 🙂 I especially love when I see Dane open his gifts, as well as my mom.

Christmas 2013 – Cinnamon the German Market fox from Dane.

What’s the best Christmas present you’ve ever received?

One that comes to mind is my Olivia Burton fox snow globe watch. My mom bought this for me in 2018 and I still love it so much. As the little crystals move around inside it’s one I always stare at during meetings at work and when I’m out and about… However, I haven’t worn it much this year due to lockdown but before COVID existed I was wearing this all the time! She even got my name etched on the band too, which is a really nice touch. I may try and get a replacement band at some point soon as the one I have at the moment is looking tired.

Alongside that there is also one of the presents I received from Dane when we had our first Christmas together – this little fox plushie. I don’t think we’ve been to another Birmingham German Market together since 2013, but whilst we were there we walked past a stand that sold plushies. I saw this cute little fox and Dane bought it for me straight away. I still own this plush to this day and it’s now in my plushie cupboard, where he belongs! It just always reminds me of Dane and how excited I was for Christmas with him. For a very long time I’d hated Christmas, but when he came into my life he really made me feel better about this time of year. P.S. We called my little fox Cinnamon. 🙂

What’s your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Japan, for sure! I would love to go to see how festive it would be, have a KFC for Christmas dinner and if possible stay somewhere like a private onsen where we could spend the evening in and out of the hot bath, eat yummy food and just relax together and exchange presents. It might be something I suggest to Dane in the future for sure. 🙂 I’d only want to go for a week, maybe ten days at a push so we can enjoy the festive period together.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m in-between. Before I met Dane I used to fail miserably as I never really concentrated or had as much to wrap as previous. I feel especially since we moved in together I spend a bit more time on my wrapping and whilst I’m not a pro, I’m definitely better! I’ve watched how my dad and one of my friends wrap their presents and they’re definite pros! They take their time, make lots of folds and more and their gifts look to good to open. 🙂

1995 – My parents bought me the Pocahontas Braided Beauty doll for Christmas when I was five. Image taken from Amazon.

What’s your most memorable Christmas memory?

Mmm… I don’t know to be perfectly honest. There’s a couple that stand out but I always love to share this one…

When I was five Pocahontas came out and I fell in love with that film (still one of my favourites!) and my parents made sure to buy me plenty of Pocahontas presents that Christmas. I received a cute red jumper/sweater with Pocahontas on, that I LIVED in for as long as I can remember. They also bought me the Pocahontas braided beauty doll which I LOVED! It came with Pocahontas doll as well a a braiding tool that looked like Meeko. I loved Meeko and my parents knew that, but I imagine there weren’t any specific Meeko toys and this was close enough. PLUS I had long hair growing up, that my mom would braid for me, so I imagine she saw this when shopping in Toys R Us and bought it because it was all the things I loved. 🙂 It was clearly a thought out gift for me as a kid. 🙂

What made you realise the truth about Christmas?

I remember I had written a letter for Father Christmas as a kid, as well as drew some pictures of Rudolph and Father Christmas. I knew it was my dad when I woke up the next day to read, “Well done!”, “Great picture!” and “Merry Christmas” on each picture and the letter I wrote. I know my dad’s writing and it was the same. It was from then on I knew who was really delivering my Christmas presents and who they were from. I’d had my suspicions for a while and I’m pretty sure the year before I’d seen my dad putting presents in my room as I turned in my sleep and was half awake.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Being with people I love and making them smile. Obviously yummy food and being merry is always good too, BUT it is definitely about making people happy and being around the people who make you happy. I’m sad that I can’t see my parents properly over Christmas. They’ll be driving over to my house next week to drop off gifts and have a chat from the front door to their car at the end of the drive. This year has been hard for my family due to our loss in September and I especially feel for my mom this year. I just wish I could give her a hug and a kiss when exchanging gifts and more. I know the time will come where we can ALL make up for lost time… But it’s just really hard this year.

So, there we have it! The Christmas Tag! It’s kind of started getting me into the Christmas spirit this afternoon whilst answering the tag questions and to be honest with you guys, I hope I get more and more festive as the time goes on.

This evening I’m actually going to host a mini “German Market at home” for me and Dane. I’m making hot dogs (not the nasty shit in the jars!), fries and instead of hot chocolate, I’m going to serve chocolate cake with Bailey’s!

I’m super excited for it and I just hope it goes down well. 🙂

How are you all feeling about Christmas this year? Especially with COVID. Me and Dane will be staying at home throughout the festive period, including New Year to stay safe at home. I hope my readers will be doing the same…

Please let me know what you are most excited about this year in the comments. 🙂

Until next time guys, please stay safe during these times and see you soon.

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like A… CHRISTMAS TAG!

With every season and special event(s) that arise around them, a tag post will always be flying around and if there isn’t, I always find one. I love taking part in tag posts and especially love reading peoples answers on them! I just feel like it helps you find out more things about a blogger, whether they’ve been around for years, or just starting out. It’s also a great way to share fellow bloggers websites and Twitter handles out there on the World Wide Blogging Web!

Before the weekend Sarah over at Raiin Monkey tagged me as well as some of my gorgeous fellow geeky bloggers to take part in the Christmas tag (you can read her answers here!)

AND since it snowed in Birmingham before the weekend, I’ll be using my own snow pictures for this post! 😀

1. Do you start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday or wait until last minute?

I get my Christmas shopping done WAYYYY before Black Friday! I try and get it started at the start of November so that I don’t have to do the rustle and bustle of Christmas shopping at the end of November an on wards. My family have always left Christmas shopping until the last minute and I always hated that. My dad is terrible for it and literally a week before Christmas he’ll be buying stuff and wonder why everything is sold out! xD

2. If you could be in any Christmas movie, what would it be?

Home Alone for sure! That’s my favourite Christmas film and I’d love to play one of the bad characters. 😛 OR star as like a character is a jokey Star Wars Christmas was made. 😛

3. Which do you like better: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

I like both to be honest for different reasons. I like Christmas Eve because it’s that little excitement for Christmas and you get the buzz! I also love Christmas Day because although I’m excited to receive my own gifts, I just love seeing people’s faces (especially Dane’s) when they open their gifts from me. That’s my favourite part to be honest. I see Christmas as a way to thank people for being there for me throughout the year.

4. When does your family (or you) put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it?

Me and Dane put our tree up on the 1st December and we both decorate it together. I think it’s going to become a thing where we take it in turns to put the tree up, but we’ll decorate it together. I put it up this year and making a tree look plump and fluffy is one of the hardest things to be honest! Dane had to finish it off for me, as apparently our tree was looking bald down below. xD

5. White lights or coloured lights?

I like both to be honest, but we have coloured lights for Christmas, which we haven’t even switched on yet this past week and a bit!

6. Are you guilty of peeking at your presents or do you like the surprise?

I can’t help but have a peek to be honest… I’m always curious what I’ve been bought I suppose. I’ve had a peek in my bag of gifts from Dane, as he has with his gifts from me but I want a surprise. I love surprises! 😛

7. Would you rather live in a gingerbread house or in Santa’s workshop?

If the gingerbread house constantly smelt of gingerbread, then Santa’s workshop. HOWEVER if the house didn’t smell like that, then the gingerbread house. 😛 Not going to lie, I actually really love that question. 😛

8. Tell us your Christmas Eve traditions!

As our first Christmas was last year, I don’t actually know if we’ve fully made any yet. We watched Sausage Party last year and ordered a curry. I wouldn’t want to make having a takeaway a tradition to be honest. Just cuddling and watching Christmas films, or new films would be nice. I want to try and cook us something really nice this Christmas Eve. I’m thinking of getting some nibbly party food for me and Dane to have.

9. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone who would it be?

Definitely Dane. 🙂

10. What tops your Christmas tree?

We have a blue star, although I keep meaning to bring the angel that I used to top my tree with at home.

11. Can you name the 12 days of Christmas?

A Partridge in a pear tree

2 white doves

I can’t actually think what the rest of the song is! I am awful at this! xD

A funny story though, me and my cousin one Christmas Eve we were watching TV and came up with a rude 12 days of Christmas. I won’t write it here, but I am legit texting it to her now! *many moments later* Okay I did it. 😛

12. Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?

I was about to write no, but I actually did once when I was at school! I was part of the choir when I was in secondary school and we were taken to an old people’s home to sing to them one Christmas. It was lovely to be honest and I was gutted that it was never done again. 😦

13. Do you countdown to Christmas? If so, how many days left?

I can’t help but countdown to be honest! Whether it’s hearing it on the radio, reading about it on social media, or just events coming up so quickly you forget where the time has gone. Currently it is just under 2 weeks until Christmas. DAYUM!

14. What are some foods and treats you can count on having every holiday season?

I’m not sure to be honest, probably just the usual stuff. I always try and get a chocolate cake, especially one that contains salted caramel! You can never go wrong with that sort of stuff. 😛 OH and chocolate truffles! Oh man, I want to go to Aldi now to buy yummy goodies ready for Christmas! xD

15. How has Christmas kept its magic for you as you’ve grown older?

To be honest I haven’t always had the “Christmas magic” that many people have, purely because of always being made to feel let down over the years, not just by family, but mostly by my friends. Christmas is a time of being happy and celebration, but it’s also a time of people being selfish, as well as being sad. I think since meeting Dane in 2013 my Christmases have gotten better and better! We always do nice things together, as well as with our friends and families and it’s lovely. I wouldn’t say I have any Christmas magic, I just use it as a time to appreciate the people in my life more and more each year. You know? 🙂

So those are my answers on the Christmas tag!

A massive thank you to Sarah for tagging me because before she had, I had forgotten all about doing a tag this year.

I tag EVERYONE who reads this post to take part and do it themselves!

I hope you all have a lovely week though and until next time, take care.

20 Christmas Tag Questions

Dayum I have been quiet for ten days now! I am sorry for this but I have been awfully busy with life right now. I know I keep excusing myself and saying this but it’s true. To be fair I could try and make more effort to do blog work but I have just been so damn busy. If it isn’t busy from being at work, it’s busy from housework and more so recently from socialising… Which isn’t going to die down for the next couple of weeks.

But seeing as Christmas is almost a week away I thought I would do a Christmas themed blog post, yay! I found these 20 Christmas tag questions on this website and thought I’d have a go at them! If you like them too make sure to give it a go yourself. 😛

1. Use one noise to describe how excited you are for Christmas.
A squeaky fart followed by a childish giggle… I don’t know! 😛

2. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
NEVER! The only time they’re opened before Christmas Day is if they’re from friends who want to see my face when I open their presents and vice versa.

3. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
I’m excited that me and Dane will be making our own traditions, these including giving each other stockings with little gifts inside, as well as opening our presents in bed together which will be lovely. I’m so excited for it!

4. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
It’s fake! I don’t think I’ll ever buy a real one…

5. What is your favorite Christmas film?
I don’t know if I haven a favourite one… I have a few I really like… Jingle All The Way, Home Alone, Home Alone 2 and Bad Santa. I can’t think of anymore sadly. I’m really not a Christmas movie person.

6. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
I usually spend it at my parents, although last year I spent most of it at Dane’s parents and then the rest at mine. This year we’ll be spending some of it at our house and then the rest at my parents, which will be lovely.

7. What is your favorite Christmas song?
I’ll attach the YouTube video down below…

8. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?
Pigs in blankets is always a good one! I also love pigging out on yummy ice cream and chocolate Christmas pudding. This year me and Dane have bought some Bailey’s ice cream. So damn excited!

9. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
I like giving them and seeing peoples faces light up when they open their gifts, especially Dane. Not going to lie I always get excited for what Dane has bought me every year and I’m especially excited this year!

10. What is your favorite thing about Christmas?
I like that I can spoil the people I love to a gift(s) that I know they will love and adore. I especially love to write soppy messages in cards. My close friends and Dane only get these.

11. When do you start getting excited for Christmas?
Usually Christmas Eve which is leaving it a little late to be fair… It’s hard to get excited for Christmas when you work in a job where you work most of Christmas…

12. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
This is a really hard question as I’ve received some amazing and beautiful gifts over the years… But shit this question is so hard! Probably something that I look at and have fond memories of… Such as a Pandora charm, my massive Totoro plushie. Actually I would say my fox plushie as Dane bought it for our first Christmas together from the German Market in Birmingham. I love it and keep it by my bed.

13. What is the worst present you’ve ever received?
I’ve been given earrings before and the reason for these being the worst is because I don’t have my ears pierced and to be honest when people do buy me earrings they usually aren’t even my style. So yeah I can’t be dealing with stuff like that!

14. As a kid, did a sibling ever receive a present that you wished was for you?
Not really to be honest as my siblings are both male and a lot older than I am. 😛

15. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Japan! It would be amazing to have KFC for dinner instead of a proper one, just for a change really. 😛

16. Most memorable Holiday moment?
Probably a few years ago when I bought Dane his first Nendoroid and he had no clue as to what I bought him. I recorded him opening it because I wanted to be able to keep the memory of that moment forever. I just asked him what his favourite present was and he said it was this one! This makes me happy. ^_^

17. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I do sometimes, usually the bog standard stuff like dieting, keeping a diary, etc. I usually stick to them but not throughout the year… Probably up until after the summer. I intend to make a couple this year.

18. What makes the holidays special for you?
Being able to spend time with my family and Dane. I never really do anything nice with my family throughout the year, so being able to sit at the dining table and have Christmas dinner and open our presents with each other is something I hold close to me.

19. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
The above. ^^^

20. You have been granted one Christmas wish… What will it be?
For anyone who is alone this Christmas to not be. I don’t need a wish for myself, I’m a pretty lucky lady. :’)

So that was the 20 Christmas tag questions! If you’re a blogger like myself why don’t you give this tag post a go yourselves? Make sure to reply to this blog post with a link to your answers so I can check them out!

Until next time take care all and I hope everyone is ready for Christmas now. 😛
