YY Kawaii Sakura Itabag – Review*

My Japan trip is fast approaching and if there is something I want for my trip it’s an ita bag, so I can show off all my gorgeous enamel pins! I want one in general to be fair, but I feel like in Japan I can really show off all of my loves in one place.

YY Kawaii was lovely enough to gift me her Sakura Itabag recently and I’ve been so excited to share it with you guys! I wanted to make sure all the photos were perfect, as well as all the different pins I popped inside the bag too.

I wanted to make sure I got enough photos so I can do a full review for you guys! Ita bags are becoming more and more popular these days, especially unique designs. I feel like the sakura one by YY Kawaii is one of those unique designs out there right now, for a decent price.

I honestly love this bag and not only have I really enjoyed using it over the weekends, but I have also loved all the compliments, comments and questions it has received too!

Without further ado, let’s get on with the review, as well as allllllll the photos! πŸ˜€

This was a gifted item for promotional and reviewing purposes, so all views on this post are entirely my own.

The first thing I noticed when I opened this bag from the packing is the beautiful pastel pink colour, as well as the sakura cut out shape on the front of the bag. To me ita bags are kawaii and cute, so the pink colour was the perfect choice for YY Kawaii’s ita bag design.

The bag has gold hardware on both of the zips, as well as the loops for the shoulder straps and the clasps and buckle on the strap itself. Although I’m more of a fan of silver hardware, the gold definitely compliments the pink more.

The one thing I love about this ita bag the most is that you have the choice between wearing it as either a shoulder bag, or a bumbag, which is so handy if you want this bag for travelling with!

To wear it as a bumbag there is a strap you feed through the back of the bag, which is really good! It feels comfortable when you wear the bag on your hip. To do up the bumbag strap you use the buckle, which is really quick and easy to do and undo! You can also adjust the strap for the bumbag to your fitting, It’s really easy to adjust and doesn’t take long.

Personally my only issue with this being worn as a bumbag is the size of it, it’s a little on the larger side for me and I’m unsure if I would feel comfortable using it due to this. Maybe on a night out with friends I could get away with it, but whilst I’m in Japan I don’t think I’ll use it this way.

However, I will definitely use the strap to make it a shoulder bag! If you want to wear this as a shoulder bag you just need to simply clip the strap onto both sides of the bag, via the loops and you have your bag ready to wear! I really love the way it sits and feels on my side and it’s perfect for quickly grabbing anything out of, as it sits at the right height for me. You can of course change the length of the strap, which is handy and I like that it’s with a buckle.

The thing I like the most about he strap being a buckle is how (if you wanted to) you could put some pins in the holes where the strap hasn’t been adjusted to. I’m tempted to do this and use my lock backs so that I don’t have to worry about losing any of my enamel pins whilst travelling around.

As I’ve mentioned at the start of this post, I actually plan to take this bag with me to Japan so having both of these options will be great depending what we plan to do each day!

There are two compartments on the bag, one is for you to keep all your goodies in and one is where you keep your pins. I’ll talk about the latter first.

The front compartment of the bag is a flap where you keep all your pins for your ita bag. Inside this compartment is a round padded “pin cushion” which you stick all your pins onto. The cushion is REALLY padded, which I like! Due to how thick it is the pins will never poke out of the back. This also means that it’s really quick to change enamel pins around as all you need to do is push them onto the padding and you’re done!

With this it means if you’re travelling and want to show off more and different enamel pins in your ita bag on different days, you can! Say if you were going on holiday like myself, or travelling to a convention for a weekend, you could take plenty of enamel pins, charms, key chains, etc and always be able to customise your ita bag quickly! This is definitely my favourite thing about the Sakura Ita bag by YY Kawaii.

The back compartment of the bag is really roomy for the size and I really do like this. It’s big enough to keep your essential items in like your phone, small wallet or purse, keys, Passport is travelling etc. There is also a little pocket for you to keep some items in, such as cards, money, etc. It sadly isn’t big enough for a phone, which would have come in handy but I’m never all that fussed about phone pockets in bags anyway.

Going back to the gold hardware on the bag, the two zips for the compartments on the bag both have gold hearts hanging from the zip area, which I think is a really cute addition to the bag. It also makes it a little easier to open and close the bag as you have the chunky heart to grab onto.

For me the bag is a good size if you don’t want to carry too much. I’m terrible if I have a massive bag, as I feel I need to fill it in order to benefit from the space available. It’s perfect if you want to take it out for a night out with friends or a date, if you just want to carry light for a trip out for the day and especially great to grab if you’re popping out to run some errands. I love using this bag whenever I’m going out with friends up town as I ALWAYS get complimented on it, especially when I go into geeky shops! I am always asked where it’s from, as well as where the enamel pins are from inside the bag.

Being able to show off some of my favourite enamel pins makes me so happy and it’s something I have wanted to do since I started collecting enamel pins last year. Personally this bag is perfect for a first ita bag for me due to the size, the colour and the fact it can be both a shoulder bag, as well as a bumbag.

I thought I would show off some of the enamel pins I have put inside my bag on the days I have worn it out. The three times I’ve used it so far, I’ve changed the pins! When I was taking the photos of me wearing the bag, I was actually about to pop to the shops to grab some bits and pieces for a games evening later that day! πŸ˜€

I’m so excited to take it with me to Japan and I can’t wait for all the photo opportunities I can take with it too, especially with all the different pins I can add inside.

You pay a 50% deposit of Β£24.50 for the bag but overall the price for the bag costs Β£49 and can be ordered from the website here.

MCM Comic Con – Birmingham

On Saturday me and Dane went to the Birmingham Comic Con and it was one of my favourite ones to date! Maybe not over Hyper Japan for obvious reasons… πŸ˜›

It was pretty much a last minute decision to go after umming and ahhing for a couple of weeks and due to this we weren’t able to grab priority tickets like we did back at the 2014 Comic Con. This being said it turned out well as we booked our parking in advance so we didn’t have to pay after etc etc. We got there an hour early and had to wait what felt like 10 minutes to be let into the convention. Then we had 6 hours of browsing around the stalls, doing some shopping, admiring all the amazing cosplayers and have a good time.

Before I go onto what amazing cosplayers I met and had pictures with throughout the day I want to show off what I wore as I loved it so damn much and got loads of compliments on it!

A few weeks prior to Comic Con I did my weekly eBay search of Black Milk Clothing bargains and came across this Adventure Time dress. These came out YEARS ago and are now museum pieces, meaning they aren’t coming back unless Black Milk decide to release a limited amount. I wanted this dress back when it first came out but due to money and such I didn’t get it. What probably would have cost near to $100 AUS dollars I go for Β£35. What a bargain! Of course the pattern as you can see is Lumpy Space Princess who I adore!

It’s a skater dress so it flares out a little which I find to be the best style for my figure. The material is lovely and think meaning if it needs to stretch a little the pattern on it won’t get ruined. I teamed it up with a long white t-shirt as I knew it would be too cold outside to wear it without anything underneath. All about the layering in the winter time! I also teamed it with black tights (which I wish had been thicker!), my triumph Dr Martens boots, my new red coat from M&S and a navy choker.

So when we were ready to go we set off to Comic Con!

This was one of my favourite comic cons I’ve attended to date for one reason, all the amazing pictures I managed to get with cosplayers! I’ll be talking about who I saw in the order I saw them!

The first cosplay we spotted was this amazing Totoro from Studio Ghibli My Neighbour Totoro, which is one of mine and Dane’s favourite movies. I never usually have pictures with anyone at conventions as I often feel too shy or they walk off and I never get chance to have a picture at all. However I shoved my way in the best I could and got my picture.

The next cosplayer we saw was another Studio Ghibli related one, which is from my favourite movie, Spirited Away. This person was dressed as No Face and was definitely one of the best cosplayers I saw all day! I’ve never really seen anyone dress as No Face before so I was so excited to see him. Again like Totoro I waited for my turn to have a picture and got it. By this point I was like a little kid, I was so happy!

This next cosplayer felt kind of official due to where you had to stand to have a picture and although there wasn’t an official queue, it did feel like you were queuing to have your picture with him. Of course it’s Deadpool and oh my God he was a legend! Of course it would have been better if it was Ryan Reynolds, but hey it was a guy dressed as Deadpool, a proper costume too not a shitty morphe suit! No offense to anyone who wears/wore a Deadpool morphe suit… πŸ˜›

When I went over to him I didn’t expect him to talk, but he did! He say hello, asked if I was okay and even complimented me on my dress and said, “Purple really suits you!” WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING!

Ahem… Anyway! He got me to put my hand in a backwards C shape to form a heart and thus our picture was taken. I loved how chatty he was and how into the role of Deadpool he was. It was amazing and I hope everyone got the chance to get a picture with him who loves Deadpool just as much as I do. OH and he even has his little unicorn. πŸ˜›

This cosplayer was one of the hardest to get a picture with and I’m so glad I did to be honest, even though I did feel like a pain in the arse. I was tired, as was Dane and I couldn’t be arsed to push and shove to get a picture BUT by not doing this a lot of people were being rude and barging their way through. One girl in particular was very rude and as I went over to have my picture she barged past me. I ended up calling her something very nasty (begins with a C…) and walked off. Later on however I saw the Totoro again and this time with the cosplayers family who were dressed as Satsuki and Mei and not only did a somewhat get a picture of them all together, but I finally got my picture with Totoro.

After taking some photographs of me by the big MCM Comic Con sign we were just about ready to go home when we saw the last cosplayers we had pictures with and by far the best ones we had pictures with. Dane had wanted to get a picture with a Stormtrooper (or two) all day and we never got the chance to. So we saw them having pictures with some other people and went over to have ours done too. Dane had his picture taken first which he loves, but then it was my turn and it got funny very fast!

They had proper Stormtrooper armour on that also had voice changers inside so they sounded like the ones from the movies. They told me to get down on my knees as I was being arrested and proper went for it! The officer in black wasn’t there beforehand but when he saw how I was having my picture taken he got into the picture without me knowing… Until I saw the picture anyway! I loved the two pictures that me and Dane got with the Stormtroopers and a part of me wants to pop them in a frame at some point so we can remember what an amazing day we had.

Haul wise we bought each other a couple of Christmas presents, as well as some pictures for the house, but in Dane and Natalee tradition we always get at least one picture drawn of us, which is this one. We both love it so much and it’ll go in a frame and put in the house somewhere.

After a long day we came home cooked some dinner and relaxed. We had a lovely time at Comic Con and it was definitely better than the first one we attended together in 2014. My only negative about it this year was how many fake Nendoroid’s were flying around. One stall in particular annoyed me as it just sold nothing but fake items. You could tell they were fake too… I wanted to say something to some guys buying them but I couldn’t, I didn’t want to worry I would be kicked out for being rude or offensive.

Other than that it was amazing and I can’t wait to either attend Comic Con again or even Hyper Japan next year!

Did you go to an MCM Comic Con event this year? If so let me know which one and which cosplayers you saw and loved! You may have even attended Birmingham like I did! If so what did you do there? Make sure to leave all your comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you had a lovely weekend.

I’m Going To Comic-Con!

Image taken from weheartit.com

Yep you read the title correctly, I’m going to Comic Con this year… The Birmingham one of course!

As I have mentioned over and over, from time to time on my blog I am a massive nerd and my boyfriend shares this passion with me. We wanted to go to Comic Con in Birmingham earlier this year in March but it was last-minute and we were pretty poor at the time, so we ended up leaving it. This sucked whilst I was on my way home from Coventry on the train, as it passes Birmingham International, and as Comic Con is held at The NEC (which is practically next door to the airport) there were loads of people dotted around who had attended Comic Con.

We both said how we would go when the next Comic Con came around and now eight months later and we’re actually going! The tickets are booked, neither of us are working and we have some spending money to burn. We’re ready!

Due to how nerdy my boyfriend and I are, I can see me buying my boyfriend loads of Christmas presents, as well as some presents for one of my best friends. I won’t lie, I can see me buying myself some bits and pieces too…

Mish Mreow who is one of my favourite bloggers attended Comic Con in March and when she posted (you can check her posts here, here and here) some pictures from it, I was green with envy! The first image she posted was of loads of Pokemon plushies and I squealed with excitement! I know already that either my boyfriend will spoil me rotten and buy me quite a few for Christmas, or I’ll spoil myself rotten and buy myself some as a treat… Either way I’m going to be coming home with a Pokemon plushie!

My boyfriend is a huge Attack On Titan fan and he has actually gotten me into it since our holiday to Bristol and I couldn’t thank him anymore. I am going to be spoiling him to plenty of Attack On Titan goodies this Christmas. He does read my blog and he knew before reading this post that I would be spoiling him. So I am hoping there will be plenty of Attack On Titan goodies to choose from, as if I can pick him up some presents next weekend, then that’ll keep me happy!

My manga of choice at the moment is Nana, but I’ve had to stop reading it since the summer, due to no stores selling the next books I need! So I’m hoping that at Comic Con they’ll have the books that I actually need. Fingers crossed!

Now, some of you may be wondering if I’ll be cosplaying? Sadly my answer is no. I used to cosplay on and off when I was younger, but as I’ve got older I’ve found it’s more fun to watch people do it, than join in. Plus I can’t be bothered to spend loads of money on a cosplay outfit and instead invest said money in merchandise!

Are any of my readers going to Comic Con, or have you been before? If you’ve been before please let me know what it’s like in the comments, I want to know what I have in store for me!

Until next time, take care all and have a good weekend.
