Dr Martens x Lazy Oaf Buckle Boot

First things first, Happy belated Easter everyone! Last weekend with the bank holiday was so busy for me that I unfortunately didn’t have time to do much with my blog. Regardless of how busy Easter was, I had a lovely one that was filled with yummy food, shopping, birthday celebrations and more.

Anyhoo… I know you probably didn’t sign up for fashion based posts, but bear with me… Ten years ago when my journey with There Might Be Coffee began it was pretty much all about beauty and fashion. I was obsessed with both and I wanted to shout out about it to the world! Granted, I still love my beauty stuff, but fashion has been hit and miss the past ten years. Before I got with Dane I was all over it, but after me and Dane got together I definitely relaxed with it a little and the past two years with Covid, the way I dressed really changed, and not in a good way. Due to being stuck at home due to lockdown I lived in joggers, leggings, t-shirts, sweaters and hoodies, and some days my pyjamas. 2022 is the year of me really identifying how I’d like to dress, both for my age as well as my aesthetic. I know for a fact I’m not the only one who got a kick up the arse from lockdown fashion “to sort myself out”…

I think I mentioned all of this on my blog post about Tallulah’s Threads, but before Covid I practically lived in mom jeans and sweaters/t-shirts. I can’t remember the last time I reached for my mom jeans as these days I just prefer dresses, both for comfort and for how bloody cute they are, especially smock dresses.

Alongside buying loads of staple pieces for work and personal (mostly dresses to be fair), I recently decided to buy myself a pair of Dr Martens boots I’d been eyeing up for quite some time. I wanted to share them with you today as not only do I feel like I snagged a bargain, but I also want to share my Dr Martens tips with you all… Aka a guide of not coming away with broken feet. 😛

This isn’t the first time I’ve written about my Dr Martens purchases on my blog and I’m sure it won’t be the last! You can read about my first pair of Dr Martens boots here and my Adventure Time Dr Martens here too.

So, just a little about these boots. They were a 2019 collaboration between Dr Martens and Lazy Oaf, which is kind of obvious from the name of the post. There were a few different styles brought out in this collection, including sandals, creepers and especially the buckle boots I’ll be sharing today.

From memory I do recall seeing these released/discussed at the time but didn’t really think much about them. I had booked my trip to Japan and was trying to save as much money as possible for that. However, I did see quite a few people I follow on Instagram get them and the more they posted about them, the more I wanted a pair myself. Again, due to the Japan trip I didn’t look or buy myself a pair.

Just before we booked our Japan trip I did buy a pair of Dr Martens boots I’d had my eye on for a while… Which I’m now selling after only wearing once! They’re heavy to wear due to a steel toe and yeah, I regret buying them. I hope they go to a good home soon.

During lockdowns between 2020 and 2021 I did look at the buckle boots again, but never really thought much about them. The sole is thicker than what I’m used to with Dr Martens and the idea of it put me off. This being said, I stupidly bought some platform trainers… Which have since been sold as I never wore them…

To add here by the way, I’ve always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Lazy Oaf. I’ve always loved their quirky pieces, especially the Boring rainbow cardigan (which I own), as well as the pastel version of it (which I want), but I’ve always really hated some of the pieces they bring out, and don’t even get me started on the prices! I feel like Lazy Oaf is a great brand, but it often feels like influencers on Instagram or YouTubers purchase or are sent the goods, do reviews of them and haul videos (which is great!), but as soon as us “norms” go onto the website to buy stuff it’s often sold out or stupidly priced.

Aside from that, I do have some Lazy Oaf pieces I’ve obtained second hand through Depop, Vinted and eBay. Only one of my Lazy Oaf pieces was brand new, but even then I bought it through Depop. I don’t think I can afford Lazy Oaf new to be honest with you… 😛

Some second hand buying advise (that your probably didn’t ask for), for anyone who is after Lazy Oaf pieces on a budget, or just wants to do their bit buying second hand, I definitely recommend Depop, Vinted and eBay for sure! Look daily and don’t pay more than you would brand new. I recently found a Lazy Oaf grail and paid an amazing price for it second hand. I’ll share it in my April favourites next week!

Aside from that, let’s talk about the boots. I could be here all day talking about my Lazy Oaf finds and purchases over the years. If this is a blog post you would be interested in in the future, please let me know in the comments.

As I’ve already mentioned, these boots have a double sole, something I’m not used to, but that being said it’s not really noticeable when wearing the boots. I was expecting them to be really heavy, but alas they aren’t, which I’m grateful for.

The boots themselves are black, with pink heart motifs on the tongue, as well as on the back of the boot.

As you can tell by the name of these boots, they are a buckle boot, with the buckle shape being a silver heart, alongside with a silver zip in front of the tongue and behind the buckle.

Although these have the traditional Dr Martens boot staples of the yellow stitching and yellow and black tag at the back, without them, these boots could easily be mistaken for another brand. They don’t shout Dr Martens boots to me, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I love the Dr Martens and combat boot look, it’s always something I wanted as a teenager and the day I got my first pair of combat boots (some cheap ones from a market), I was thrilled! I lived in them until they were too painful to wear. That’s when I bought my first pair of Dr Martens and I’ve never looked back.

If there is one thing I have always somewhat disliked about Dr Martens is the laces. Sometimes it feels like the laces can take an age to do up and then I also worry I haven’t tightened them enough. I think this is due to years of living in slip on Vans.

With the buckle boots, it’s one thing I really I love about them as there’s no laces in sight to worry about! Just a zip and a buckle! I really love the look of the Devon boots for that reason alone… Alongside the fact they’re pretty AND have plenty of colours to choose from. I really want the dark purple pair Dr Martens recently announced.

Comfort wise I wanted to share my experience of wearing these so far. It’s not been too bad, thankfully. They were practically new when I bought them so I was wary my feet may end up being ripped to shreds. I’ve always had my tips and tricks to avoid sore feet when wearing new Dr Martens boots but I wanted to look for some more, just in case there had been some newer ones spoken of and shared. Alas, ankle protectors from Amazon was making the rounds, so I decided to buy some.

I’ve tried them once so far and my experience isn’t great. I wore them out to run some errands with Dane and decided to pop them on over tights. First of all, when I was attempting to put my boots on with the ankle protectors, they kept moving as I was putting my foot into the boot. This meant I had to dig my finger in after my foot was in the boot to move them around how I needed them. It was a painful exercise, but doable. It’s a good job we weren’t in a hurry, let me put it that way.

Then when we went out and we were walking around, the ankle protectors quickly slipped from around my ankles down to the bottom of my foot, which wasn’t great. We went for coffee and I attempted to move the ankle protectors back to where they should have been, but it proved to be too much effort. We’d almost finished what we needed to do anyway, so I risked the potential of cut up ankles. Thankfully however, this didn’t happen and my feet were safe!

I’ll definitely given the ankle protectors another go, but this time I’ll pop socks over tights and see how it works. Or maybe even wear the ankle protectors underneath my tights/socks and see how I get on.

My tried and tested method for the past ten years however has been simple. Thick socks, wide plasters/bandage tape on the ankle (and any other part of you foot you may experience rubbing) and a day out to really break them in! My first pair of Dr Martens I wore to Stratford-upon-Avon for the day. I wore plasters and took some with me just to be safe. I don’t remember experience too much discomfort, but I remember the soles of my feet being sore from new boots and lots of walking.

This hasn’t always been the same story with my Adventure Time Dr Martens however, which do really hurt my feet at the best of times. These are boots I really need to break in though, hence the slight discomfort each time I wear them. I’ve also worn these to Stratford-upon-Avon for a day and did come away with sore feet. Ouch.

I wanted to mention my experiences with my other pairs of Dr Martens boots, as last time I wore my buckle boots I did just this and I was in a bit of trouble. I wore tights, my thick Dr Martens socks over the top and risked not wearing the ankle protectors, or plasters. Due to how thick my socks were, the boots felt tight and unfortunately my ankles did start to rub. I only walked to the shops and back, but I was in a bit of trouble! Me and Dane were going into town for the day and I had planned to wear my boots into town to break them in, alas, this didn’t happen and I took them off and wore my Vans instead.

I think a couple of brisk walks to the shops (ten minute walk) and back may help to break these in.

I don’t think I’ve spoken about it yet, but you’re probably wondering how I came to find these boots from almost three years ago? Let me share!

So, my Instagram friend Daysei is a terrible influence when it comes to clothing (sorry Daysei, but you know it’s true :P) and as I know she loves Dr Martens, I mentioned to her in passing how I’d love the Lazy Oaf buckle boots. I wasn’t aware, but more so recently, Dr Martens shoe sizes have been really off and the size you expect to fit could be too big, or too small. This has happened in specific styles and then at random. I’m always a size seven in my Dr Martens, so I started to look at websites such as Depop, eBay, Vinted, and even Dr Martens Facebook groups to try and find the Lazy Oaf boots I wanted. I had no luck for ages, and when I did sizes were too big or too small, shit quality, but mainly people asking stupid prices.

Eventually I came across a listing on eBay where the seller was selling them as worn once for £150, so I went for it and I’ve not looked back! At one point I almost bought a size eight which I would have regretted so bloody much, especially as they were more expensive too.

My only complaint with the boots I bought is the one buckle is very damaged… This damage wasn’t shown on the photos and I only realised it after a few days of owning them. That being said, I’m not too fussed as they’ll get worn and enjoyed so eventually they’ll show wear and tear regardless.

If there’s one thing I really want to do with these boots it’s give them a good polish and some much needed TLC! They did come in amazing condition, but all my Dr Martens boots need some care to the leather. I should have really picked up some goodies in the Dr Martens store last week, but I just didn’t. I think I’ll do a bulk order of goodies next week.

I’m honestly so excited to have a pair of Dr Martens I can just throw and zip on for days out with Dane and friends, I’ve just been so anxious about wearing them due to a mixture of the soles height and the fear of coming home to sore feet. I’m hopeful I’ll be okay though after a couple more wears out and about.

What do you guys think about the boots I picked up? Are you a Dr Martens and/or Lazy Oaf fan? Make sure to let me know in the comments below!

Until next time guys, have a lovely weekend!

March Favourites ’22

I don’t want to be a broken record, but honestly 2022 is flying by! I can’t believe it’s April, but I’m definitely excited for this month! Not only is it Dane’s birthday, but it’d also Easter, which is one of my favourite events of the year. Alongside those two factors, me and Dane have some holiday today… Aka a long weekend for his birthday and Easter, so I’m really looking forward to that.

Currently the only thing I don’t like about April is how skint I’m going to be from spoiling Dane for his birthday, but it could be worse. 😛

March was okay for me, I had some rocky moments but nothing to write home about. I did good with money again, which is always good, but with Dane’s birthday coming I might be a little skint this month. 😛

Not going to lie, March felt like my blog was boring and didn’t have much content. I just had brain fog and couldn’t think of anything decent to write, unfortunately. However, April is going to be full of amazing content and I’m so excited for it! I won’t mention anything, let it be a surprise! 😉

Anyhoo, enough of me waffling, down to the favourites!

Favourite Beauty Product – Sol De Janeiro Coco Cabana Gift Set.

If there is something I have really been loving this month it’s been the two Sol De Janeiro gift sets I picked up! I bought both Bum Bum and Coco Cabana, with the latter being the one I started to use first. Both gift sets contain the body cream, body cream-cleanser and hair and body fragrance mist, as well as a reusable pouch. I snagged these gift sets with my mom from Look Fantastic, as they had an amazing deal at the time to snag these gift sets really cheap, so we bought one each! However, I ended up with two Coco Cabana gift sets as my mom wasn’t keen on the scent, which definitely isn’t the case for me. The Coco Cabana scent reminds me of my teenage years where I constantly used The Body Shop’s coconut body milk, as well as coconut scented beauty products in Fuerteventura too. The body cream-cleanser is really thick and moisturising, but one gripe I have is that I don’t feel like a little goes a long way. I put this down to the moisturising factors behind it. The body cream is for dry skin, but that being said it isn’t heavy and thick, but sort of like a thicker gel texture. It definitely leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised after use, even my hands!. Finally the fragrance spray, this is GORGEOUS and I have to remind myself not to go mad on it when using, as my little gift set bottles are only 30ml! I’m already planning on buying all of the products in their full sizes when I’ve used the gift set sizes up! My skin has really thanked me for taking care of it a little more the past month. My arms were starting to become really tight feeling due to how dry and tight they were, and the backs of my knees were suffering with eczema/dermatitis too. Thankfully I’ve fast turned that around and I’m so much happier for it. 🙂

Would you guys like to see a review of both the gift sets/ranges? Let me know in the comments! I’m toying with it, as they are really lovely products that deserve shouting out about!

Favourite Film – Turning Red.

I HAVE BEEN SO EXCITED FOR THIS FILM! Literally the Friday evening it came out (11th March) I cooked me and Dane one of our favourite meals (macaroni cheese) and we sat down to watch the film. I’d tried to guess from the trailers and clips what was going to happen somewhat in the movie and I never guessed it to be fair. For those who are yet to watch it, Turning Red is about Mei Lee, a thirteen year old who loves boy bands (4-Town), doing her bit for the planet, and especially her best friends! Unfortunately for Mei, she’s also trying to be a good daughter, which conflicts with her loves at the best of times. One morning Mei finds herself waking up and she’s turned into a red panda! I said it on last weeks blog post about My Dress-Up Darling (which you can read here) but I LOVE slice of life and coming of age shows, films, etc. They tend to bring me so many nostalgic memories and feels which overall just make me feel so happy. This is exactly what Turning Red did for me. It’s based in 2002, when I was twelve years old and just about to become a teenager! I listened to all sorts of music, but definitely loved Daft Punk and Avril Lavigne. It was also an age I’d really started to discover the things I would love now, including Hello Kitty , Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Mashimaro and more! The one thing I especially love about Turning Red is how it’s the first Pixar film to be led by women, this is big and I cannot wait to see more female led films in the future. I’m just so sad for everyone who worked on this film, who never got the chance to see their film make it to the cinema, especially with how much love and praise it has received.

Favourite TV Show – Euphoria.

I have been wanting to watch this TV show since it came out in 2019, but due to where it was being shown and the fact I don’t have it, I’ve just never been able to… Until now. With season two recently coming to a close, I was desperate to watch and thankfully for me, I knew someone who was able to let me watch it! I’ve so far watched season one and I’m almost at the end of season two. I’ve really fallen in love with it, as I’m a sucker for slice of life (as I’ve seemingly spoken about a lot lately on my blog!), as well as teen drama. I fell in love with it from a very young age (want to say when I was ten?) so it’s something I’ve always enjoyed ever since, even writing my own teen novel(s) and scripts from time to time. Euphoria is about Rue and some of her classmates/friends at her high school. Rue is the narrator of the show and therefore the main character, and tells us as the viewer about herself and the people around her. The topics in the show range from love, drugs, alcohol, sex and general “issues” teenagers tend to deal with at one point or another. Someone once said to me, “If you like Skins, you’ll love this!”. Now, I fucking hate Skins. The show has always felt very trashy to me, so I’ve never enjoyed it. I watched the first episode in college and was immediately put off, however, Euphoria ticks all the boxes for me! If you’re able to watch it and are okay with all the topics mentioned, definitely give it a go as and when you can.

Favourite Song – Architects – Dead Butterflies.

This is a song that started playing in Dane’s car the one day we were on a trip somewhere and I made sure to add to my playlist, as I enjoyed it so much! Since then I haven’t stopped listening to it, nor the album (“For Those That Wish to Exist”) that it’s off of. Architects isn’t really a band I’ve listened to before, although I do know of them. I really do like this song though and just had to share!

Elma GIF - Elma GIFs

Favourite Book – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Elma’s Office Lady Diary.

I recently picked up volume four of Elma’s Office Lady Diary (as I was missing it), so over lunches and the odd weekend I’ve been catching up on manga. I really miss reading it and have really decided lately to get back on it and catch up on series I need to finish reading, as well as series Dane owns that I want to read as well! Elma’s Office Lady Diary is a spin off of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, which is one of my favourite anime series, and quite possibly the longest manga series I own! Elma in turn is my favourite dragon character as I feel like I can really relate to her. She’s sweet, always wanting to do the right thing, but most of all wanting to eat all the yummy food! Plus, as an office lady myself, this manga spin off for Elma just makes me smile from ear to ear. I’m glad I finally started to read this series! I’m so excited for volume five to come out in the next month or so!

Favourite Game – Pokemon Shining Pearl.

This is a game I’ve been coming back and forth to since its release towards the end of 2021 and it’s one I absolutely love! I think it’s because it’s really simple, yet nostalgic at the same time. Since I completed the story, I’ve been going back on every now and then to try and 100% complete the Pokedex! I’ve been exploring the underground mostly to try and accomplish this by catching lots of new Pokemon, as well as lots of breeding and egg hatching, and even digging the walls in the underground for plenty of rare items! It’s just been really relaxing and nice! I’m yet to complete the story for Pokemon: Legends Arceus, but I’m still not 100% in love with that game… I’ll finish it one day. Me and Dane were only on about it last weekend how we need to pick it back up, but he’s been obsessed with Elden Ring and now we’re both obsessed with Tiny Tina’s Wonderland… Spoiler for next months favourites. 😉

Just a few of my favourite things…

Pokemon Nendoroid figures.

As many of you know, me and Dane collect Nendoroid figures from Good Smile Company and have done since late 2014. I decided during Covid to start collecting series that I needed, with Star Wars being successfully completed. I then moved onto Pokemon, which has been bloody hard and heart breaking to boot. A lot of the figures are harder to find due to them coming out a long time ago and due to this, the prices are really high. I managed to snag quite a few in 2021 for good prices, which I was really happy about, but finding Cynthia, N and Champion Red has proven to be a challenge due to fakes and prices. I did however recently snag Cynthia and N from a UK seller on eBay for a great price! Now all I need is Champion Red… Which unfortunately won’t be as simple, especially as there’s currently one on eBay for over £300! I’m keeping my eyes peeled, but yeah. 😛

Dr. Martens x Lazy Oaf Buckle Boot.

I’d be fibbing if I said I’d been after these Docs for a long time, but I feel like on and off over the past year I’ve definitely liked the look of them! Someone I follow on Instagram has a pair of the Lazy Oaf Heart Buckle Docs and due to her, I decided that I’d really like a pair to wear with my Black Milk Clothing dresses and more! After scouring the internet for a few months, I finally found a pair for sale for £150, which I didn’t think was too bad for an almost new (tried on and maybe worn once from memory) pair of Docs, especially as these are also limited edition. They came out originally in 2019, but I missed out on snagging a pair at the time as I was saving up for my Japan trip. Now I finally have them though and I adore them… But I’m yet to actually wear them out and about. I haven’t yet as I just haven’t had the chance to, even though I’ve owned them a month. I’m anxious of my feet getting destroyed, but at the same time I do want to wear them! I think I’ll go for a walk in them around the local area with my ankle protectors on (Amazon link) to break them in more! I was toying about reviewing these on my blog, as well as some handy Docs tips that I know of, would you guys like to see that in the future?

Turning Red, Mei Lee Red Panda plushie.

I briefly wanted to show off this massive fluffy cutie that arrived at the start of March, my huge Disney Store Mei Lee red panda form plushie! I couldn’t resist ordering this as I’m a massive sucker for red pandas and plus I’ve been super excited for Turning Red to come out, as I mentioned earlier. This plushie has been living on my office chair and has proven to be an amazing cuddle buddy whilst I’m working (both work and personal stuff), as well as whilst I play games. This plushie wasn’t cheap at £40, but totally worth it!

My Dress-Up Darling… Annnnnd future content to look forward to!

Finally I want to give you all a reminder how much I’ve really fallen in love with My Dress-Up Darling! The first season of the anime finished at the end of March and since then I’ve been taking my time to read the manga, so I can make Marin and Gojo last as long as I can! If you really loved this manga/anime, or would like to discover a new series to read/watch, make sure to go and check out last weeks blog post all about My Dress-Up Darling. Since writing it I have since been inspired to write more posts about manga/anime series I love, including Nana, Elfen Lied and Bee & PuppyCat.

So there we have it, my favourites from March! March really did fly by and I don’t feel like I did a fat lot to be honest with you… I think my favourite thing we did in March was visit my best friend and her boyfriend in Nottingham! Nottingham is a city I’ve wanted to visit for a while and with my bestie living near the city centre, it was so much fun to finally visit it with her!

In March I really did reflect on what content I would like to bring to my blog in the future and I’ve come away with so many ideas, that I cannot wait to write and share with you all in the coming months!

What were you favourite things in March? Also, is there any specific you would like to see, or at least see more of on my blog? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and have a lovely weekend!

January Wish List ’22

Hello 2022! I can safely say it’s already been pretty crazy/crap for me and I can only hope it gets better from here! For the first couple of weeks of the year, both me and Dane have been really poorly (no, it wasn’t Covid, thankfully!). Not only have we had colds, but also a chest infection, which has really sucked. I’m still suffering with a loss of voice and cough, but I’m hopeful this will be gone by the end of this week.

Alongside that, 2022 is already flying by what with my birthday being almost a week ago already, as well as payday and Chinese New Year only a couple of weeks away too!

It wouldn’t be January though without one of my monthly posts, with the first official post of 2022 (not including my Happy New Year post…) being my wish list for January. I’m not going to lie guys, I’m seriously trying to be good this month, what with a longer wait until payday, as well as being spoilt over Christmas and birthday last week. However, there are some cute buts and pieces I’d love, but also have pre-ordered that are due out this month.

So, sit back and grab a hot drink as I show off and talk about my wish list for January 2022.

  • Dr Martens Devon Heart Leather Platform Boots – (link)

I don’t need a new pair of Docs, but I’d like a new pair… Why? I don’t actually know. I’m going to blame all the fashionistas on Instagram inspiring me. In 2021 I really started to think about fashion and more about how I wanted to start dressing again. However, Covid and lockdowns have prevented me from really getting out there with my new pieces. This being said, it doesn’t stop me updating. 😛 I love the couple of pairs of Docs I own, but a simple zip/buckle up pair would be really nice to own! Docs can be a little cumbersome to do up at the best of times and sometimes I can’t be arsed for that. These would look great with dresses, skirts and some trousers too! This won’t be a purchase I make anytime soon, but definitely a nice one to have on the list.

  • Hamtaro Nendoroid – (link)

This is a pre order I’ve had with Gamersheek since about April 2021 and it’s crazy how quickly time flies, isn’t it?! I seriously can’t wait for my Hamtaro Nendoroid to arrive. I was never able to watch the show as a kid, but I spent many IT classes and lunchbreaks at school on the internet looking at the Hamtaro website. It was all in Japanese and I didn’t understand a word, but I found colouring pages I would print off to colour at home and more. I loved it and I wish I had found the show it watch when I was younger. This being said, it’s never too late and this year I’m planning to try and find the show to binge watch!

  • Nintendo Tokyo Animal Crossing Gloves – (link)

I discovered these gloves around Christmas and was dead set on ordering myself a pair, as the UK is pretty damn cold at the moment… However, I’m going to wait until payday at the end of January to order these! As many readers will know, I love Animal Crossing and I especially love being warm, so a cute as fuck pair of gloves like this, is a definite must. These are Nintendo Tokyo store exclusive too, so I’d especially love to get hold of them if I can for sure. I’ll be picking them up from Meccha Japan, which is a Japanese store I recently discovered. I’ll be writing a review about them VERY soon so make sure to keep eyes peeled for that!

  • Monki Cloud Faux Fur Jacket – (link)

This is an item I added to my wish list and semi regret for a few reasons. First reason, it’s actually out of stock now and not like to be back IN stock, so it feels sort of pointless. Second reason, I really did fall in love with this jacket and wanted, but since looking back I think the COMPLETE opposite now. It’s bloody expensive for what it is at £75, but I don’t think it’s my style… When I was in Japan in 2020, I saw a fluffy jacket similar to this one (baby pink, dark purple, black, white and red) and I really fell in love with it, but never bought due to how much it cost and again, not my style. I do love soft things like this and the idea of having one as a jacket would be great, but at the same time, I have a dressing gown at home to snuggle in and it was half the price. 😛

  • Stitchtothepast Animal Crossing Stargazing Celeste Cross Stitch Kit – (link)

If there is one thing I have really been craving to do lately, it’s cross stitching. It’s also an old childhood hobby I picked back up towards the start of 2021 and didn’t continue with into the latter of last year. 2022 is going to be different and I really want to try and do as much cross stitch as I possibly can! My best friend (hey Gab!) bought me an Animal Crossing Shino cross stitch kit for Christmas, which I’ve been enjoying doing so far! I’ve also seen a cross stitch pattern I want to make into a project and buy to do and hang up by our front door. I’ve also seen this cross stitch kit that I would also love to do and hang in the house somewhere. Unfortunately the kit is currently sold out, so I’m hoping it comes back into stock soon so I can give it a go! When I’m paid at the end of the month, I’m planning to go to Hobbycraft to grab some goodies so I can start my project!

  • Nintendo Switch Pokemon Legends Arceus – (link)

Finally I have saved one of the best for last and it’s the new Pokemon game Legends Arceus! I’ve had this pre ordered for both me and Dane for quite some time now from Gamersheek and I’m hella excited to chill with Dane the weekend its out and play as much as possible! As Cyndaquil is the fire starter and my favourite starter ever, this will be my Pokemon of choice! I can’t speak for Dane which one he’ll pick. I decided in 2022 to start making my way through current games I own and make a list of them on a completion thread I’ve created on Twitter. I’ve linked it for you all here to keep tabs on, but I wanted to say again a massive thank you to my friend Connor for inspiring me to do this! Connor did this in 2021 and it was so inspiring to see him progress through his games collection.

So, there we have it guys, my wish list for January! What do you guys thinks? Any items you’ve spotted that you’d love to? Or maybe you already own them or have them pre-ordered too? Make sure to let me know in the comments.

Until next time guys, take care and I hope you’re having a great week so far!

September Wish List ’17

It’s September! My favourite month of the year and the month of our holiday! YAY! Due to that this months wish list isn’t anything special really and if anything is me adding some items I want to get as staples for my autumn and winter wardrobe.

This months wish list was really hard to be fair as I just can’t think of much I want right now. There’s just been a few big things I’ve wanted, but I’ll go into more detail about that as and when.

But no more chit chat, wish list time! 😀

  • Naketano Put The D On Me II Hoodie – £60.38 (link)

I actually stumbled across this hoodie when shopping with Dane recently. Sadly it was TK Maxx and at the best of times it’s like a jumble sale so whilst I found one I couldn’t find anymore. Sadly the one they had left was too small for me. I looked on their website and sadly they didn’t have the hoodie in stock on their either. ARGH! I did get a note of the brand and looked online at their official website and discovered that Naketano are a German brand. The best bit being that they had the hoodie I wanted in stock on their own website as well as on Blue Tomato, which is where I found it. It’s a gorgeous navy hoodie with red stars all over. It has a cowl neck which means it’ll be lovely to snuggle into when the weather begins to get chillier. It’s not cheap though as you can see from the price, yet TK Maxx was selling it for £29.99! I’ll be scouring local TK Maxx’s for this before I go on holiday.

  • Primark Pusheen Sweatshirt.

Primark are really upping their game with character clothing and merchandise and I would like to say I can’t get enough of it, but I haven’t bought any for ages! When I was out shopping with Dane I nearly bought a Marie sweatshirt but left it. I just want a cute and baggy sweatshirt to snuggle up in in my house whilst I do blog and house work. I didn’t see this when I popped in though and I had forgotten all about its existence until I looked on my eBay earlier. I wish I had looked for it now as I would have picked it up! I don’t know how much it’s meant to be from Primark itself, but on eBay it’s going for between £18.00-£25.00! Shit. I won’t buy this unless it’s from Primark itself.

  • Living Dead Clothing Aggretsuko Rainmaker – £39.78 (link)

This brand is very similar to Black Milk Clothing and a lot of people argue about whether one or the other is better. I can’t really comment as I’ve not yet bought any pieces from Living Dead. I want to though and I have my eye on a few pieces (I’ll have to do a wish list in the future!). The one thing that I really like about Living Dead is the amount of geeky anime and gaming related pieces they bring out. They’ve had Studio Ghibli and Pokemon related pieces out in the past and I wish I had picked some up. But they currently have some Sanrio pieces up for grabs in the final chance area of the website which is the newer member of the Sanrio family, Aggretsuko! She’s a red panda who works a shitty office job and spends her time after work singing metal on karaoke to take out the frustrations of said job. They have a crop top with her on as well as the rainmaker which is what I want more out of the two. These like Black Milk aren’t cheap though and due to them coming from Australia, shipping isn’t either. I would rock this with black leggings and jeans in the summertime and a long sleeved t-shirt underneath in the winter. Due to it being discontinued I’m torn over whether to buy or not… I probably won’t though. 😦

  • Marks & Spencer Striped Round Neck Jumper – £16.00 (link)

This is a jumper I keep seeing lately and it’s gorgeous for an M&S piece… 😛 A lot of their clothing is designed for the older lady but this one is pretty nice and can be worn with all sorts. I’m really after a jumper that I can wear with my new skater skirt (which you can see here). I’m after wearing stuff like this throughout autumn and winter this year, so I’ll be on the hunt for lots of lovely jumpers to team up with the skirt.

  • Disney Store Lady and the Tramp Tsum Tsum Bundle – £21.00 (link)

I saw these a couple of days in the Disney Store and I wanted to buy all of them! As old readers will know I LOVE Lady and the Tramp, it’s my favourite Disney movie so whenever I see merch come out for the film at the Disney Store, I have to buy. I already have the old Lady Tsum Tsum, but now I want the new one, as well as all her friends and enemies! I won’t get these until after the holiday though.

  • Dr Martens 8761 BXB Boot – £135.00 (link)

I don’t need a new pair of Docs… I really don’t. I saw these advertised recently on their official Instagram page and fell in love! I have a thing for Dr Martens boots with a steel toe, my Triumph boots have this same sort of look and it looks so chunky and amazing! I love the classic 1461 boots, but the chunky toe just gives them that edgy look. As much as I love my Triumph boots they aren’t the easiest to put on when in a hurry and I’d like some ankle boots that I can just shove on and go out the door in! These are going to be something I’ll treat myself to before my student discount card runs out. 😛 I’ll rock them throughout autumn and winter this year FOR SURE!

So that’s my wish list this month. It’s not the best wish list in the world but there’s a couple of pieces on here that I really want to get for my colder weather essentials. I don’t know if I’ll be buying anything whilst on holiday beauty and fashion wise. I’m sure I’ll have a massive list of goodies up I’ve bought when I’m back. Unless I buy the Docs before I go, I won’t be buying anything on this list anytime soon. Money that I get paid this month will be for holiday and bills. 😛

What items do you have on your wish lists right now? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’ve had an awesome week and weekend!

February ’16 Wish List

We’re down one month of 2016 already! Only 11 more to go and it’ll be Christmas and New Year all over again. 😛 I was a little spend happy throughout January, so I need to watch my money this month and be good. Lipsticks won’t help me buy a house, sadly. This being said, there are a few bits and pieces I am still after this month, and it never hurts to lust after things, does it?

  • Benefit The POREfessional: Instant Wipeout Masks – £24.50 (link)

Benefit have a few new goodies coming out for their POREfessional range, one of them being the Matte Rescue gel, which I was so excited to try and pick up! These are little face masks which you can use all over the face. They’re like nose strip style shape and size, BUT they aren’t pore strips. They’re a liquid face mask which you can apply to the nose, chin, forehead, and cheeks, as they have up to 10 uses from what the woman told me on the Benefit counter. I would have bought some when I was there the weekend, but they’re not cheap and these will be a product I’ll pick up as a real treat to use once every fortnight. I don’t really have issues with my pores, I just have an oily t-zone. My boyfriend would probably love these mind. I want to look into these more though, they sound cool.

  • New Look Black Turtle Neck Cold Shoulder Jumper – £22.99 (link)

I’m a huge fan of the cold shoulder look on long sleeved, black garments and I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHY! Is it a trend from the 90’s that I love? Or grunge? What is it people, can anyone tell me? I have a black long sleeved t-shirt from New Look that shares the cold shoulder look, and it’s one of my favourite black t-shirts to wear now. So why not add a jumper into my wardrobe to throw on when it’s nippy? Not only do I love the cold shoulder look, but I happen to love turtle necks too. I think it’s the whole wrapping up warm aspect for me. I wish I had gone in New Look and had a butchers for this when I was in town last weekend, but I never thought of it at the time. I would love to pick this up though to rock with a skirt, some denim shorts, or a light wash skinny fit jean. The Dr Martens in this wish list would look great with them too, as well as my Jake Dr Martens (post about those here)

  • ASOS Swing Dress In Star Print With Eyelet Detail – £15.00 down from £30.00 (link)

I wouldn’t have known this dress existed if it wasn’t for Hannah Gale, who recently featured it on her blog, as well as one of her vlogs. She looks gorgeous in it and I loved how she teamed it up with a belt and some boots (you can view how she dressed it up here). I don’t know how the hell I would dress it up if I bought it, but I’d rock it all over the spring and summer months. I showed it to my boyfriend and he isn’t sure on it, but that being said I will keep my eye on it and see how I feel. It looks beautiful on Hannah, but it might not look as nice on me. :’) It just look so airy, and the perfect dress to wear if you want to look great, but feel like shit.

  • Dr Martens Serena Faux Fur Lined Boot – £110.00 (link)

I have wanted a pair of these boots for years… Since before I even met Dane and I met him three years ago this year (God that’s flown by!). I’ve found a pair cheaper on eBay, and although I would jump at the chance to buy them usually and still say, “BUT IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!” I need to be a little more realistic now. I need to save money, and I still have my Jake Dr Martens, which I only got in September when I finished university. I love those Dr Martens… BUT yellow Dr Martens with silly faces on aren’t always practical… Especially when I just want to rock some black clothing and look like the inner goth that I am. 😛 I shall see how I feel in the future, but Dr Martens want to be something I rock more this year and onward. They’re amazing boots, and a shoe brand that I really adore.

  • Marvel Deadpool Men’s Varsity Jacket – £29.99 (link)

I wanted to save the best until last, and it’s hard to choose between this and the last item! As everyone knows, the new Deadpool movie is out next week and let me tell you, I am so fucking excited! I have been a fan of Ryan Reynolds for 10 years, and Deadpool is my favourite Marvel character too. I came across this having a nose for some present ideas for my boyfriend and have fallen in love. I don’t really need anymore jackets, but this one is just too nice to pass up. I love wearing my boyfriends jackets, they’re just so comfortable and as this is a man’s jacket I could get away with buying a small size and rocking it with some skinny fit jeans, and boots or Vans. It isn’t expensive either for an official licensed product!

  • Pokemon Yellow on 2DS and 3DS – Price TBC

This is the item I saved until last. The only thing I know about it is that it is due to come out on the Nintendo eShop on 27th February, the same date the original three Pokemon games (Red, Blue, and Yellow) came out 20 years ago! I don’t know how much they’ll be, I imagine something like £10-£20. Anymore than that would be a bit of a rip off to be honest… I will be getting Pokemon Yellow, as this was always my favourite to play. I know my boyfriend is going to get one too, so we can play and trade Pokemon together. Anyone who isn’t going to be buying these bad boys, WHY NOT? I’m hella excited.

So that was my wish list for this month. I need to save money so the only things I can really see me buying is the Deadpool jacket, and Pokemon Yellow. Two nerdy things I am super excited for this month.

What goodies are my readers after this month? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and hope you’re having a great week.

Currently #1

Hello and welcome to my first currently! I love reading these so I thought, “what the hell, it won’t hurt to do my own!” so here it is. I hope you enjoy this, I already can’t wait to do another one!

Watching: Recently I’ve been binge watching Teachers again. I can’t even remember how many times I’ve watching this series, but it’s by far one of my favourites! During my undergraduate study, I watched this religiously whilst writing my dissertation. It was just like watching my friends or family on a home video, or sat in the pub with them. It’s just a very mellow show that you can really get into, and fall in love with the characters.

Playing: Since Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer coming out I haven’t stopped playing it! It’s just so addictive and relaxing to play that after a day at work I like to just come home, snuggle into bed with a hot drink and play this until I need to leave my bed to pee or eat. That sounds grosser than it actually is!

Listening: I’ve been listening to Bloodhound Gang LOADS lately and I don’t even know why! I’ve always loved this band but lately I’ve just fallen in love with them more than ever before. I need to get more of their albums soon. I’ve been on the hunt for some more for the past few weeks, but I’ve not really had much luck on that… Doh! I’ve also been playing No Devotions new and first album Permanence. It’s a very nice album for autumn and a relaxing one at that. It’s nice to listen to on the way to work in the morning.

Eating: I haven’t really eaten anything different lately… If anything I’ve been binging on crisps… Not good! Mostly Quavers, and Marmite Walkers crisps. I love Marmite so much… Actually, if I’ve been loving a food this month, it’s Marmite on toast. Can’t go wrong! I’ve also been drinking quite a bit of Lucozade Pink Lemonade at the moment, mostly due to my pole fitness. It helps me during my classes. As well as that I’ve been drinking lots of Ribena too. Yummy!

Wearing: With me officially finishing uni at the start of September my boyfriend finally gave me my Adventure Time Dr Martens boots (can read about those here) and they’re all I’ve been wearing. It has been tough to be honest as everyone who has ever owned a pair of Dr Martens will know how painful they are to break in and trust me mine are proving painful, especially on my one little toe. Ouch! With a big pair of Dr Martens socks, and plenty of plasters they’re now starting to break a little more. I can’t wait for them to be perfect so I can rock them all autumn and winter!

Wanting: I’m really lusting after some Snow Fairy from Lush at the moment. I’m running low on shower gel so it’s an excuse to buy this gorgeous smelling pink stuff. Alongside that I can’t wait for the 101 Dalmatians Vans to be released so I can pick up a pair in time for my holiday. I’ll rock them alongside my Dr Martens! I also want Christmas to hurry up and arrive, as well as pay day so I can start my Christmas shopping. I’ve eyed up loads of gift ideas for my boyfriend now, and I just need the money for them!

What things are you currently into? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time take care all and I’ll see you soon.

Autumn is Looming…

Image taken from weheartit.com

It’s September, my favourite month of the year, and yet I don’t know why! I think it’s due to years of going back to school, college, and uni, and being able to see a new year as a fresh start to look cool, be confident, do well in my studies, and just sort my life out. Even though I’m no longer in education, I still see September as this fresh start. September means more to me than just that however, it’s also the start of autumn and the best fashion of the year comes about again. Hot drinks out in coffee shops are now no longer an excuse, but a necessity, and soon enough Christmas will catch up to us.

Image taken from weheartit.com

Every blogger and their dog are obsessing and talking about autumn at the moment, and whilst autumn isn’t officially here until the end of the month, it doesn’t hurt to start preparing, and with how the year has been so far it’ll soon fly by!

Image taken from weheartit.com

  • Hot Ribena.

This is something I recently discovered when I went away to the Lake District with my boyfriend and our friends. I drank loads of it before we went home and it was such a perfect comfort drink. Since then I have bought a huge bottle of Ribena light and in the mornings before I head to work I make sure to have a cup to warm me up. Mornings really are getting chilly now, something I had kind of forgotten about.

  • Baggy hoodies.

Preferably a significant others! Since I met him, I’ve had my boyfriends Funeral For A Friend hoodie, it’s one of the nicest hoodies I’ve ever stolen from someone (infact it’s probably the only one!) as it’s so baggy, soft, and comfortable to wear whether you’re going out for the day, popping out to do some errands, or something to wear around the house. As well as that I have my favourite hoodie that I wear, my fox Animal hoodie that I got when I went on holiday in January. I intend to take this hoodie with me again to live in whilst I’m there when it isn’t warm.

  • Relaxing evenings.

With nights getting shorter, evenings in are some of the best, especially before November and December when all the Christmas parties are around. It’s just nice to stay inside, wrap up warm with a hot drink, and watch movies or play games. My relaxed evenings of choice for this autumn are looking to be playing Minecraft with my boyfriend and our friends, reading, watching South Park, and continuing with my novel.

  • Shopping for autumn essentials.

I really need some retail therapy soon, when I’m unsure but after I handed in my dissertation last Wednesday, I had a look around the shops at all the lovely autumn pieces and fashion that is coming out for this year. I gravitated towards a lot of pieces in Primark, and was tempted to buy some bits and pieces, but I left it due to money. I can see me wrapping up in snuggly jumpers, ripped black skinny fit jeans, and of course my new Dr Martens boots.

Image taken from weheartit.com

  • Ankle boots.

If there is a shoe that was designed for a season, it’s the ankle boot for autumn. Whether it has a heel, a platform, or whatever other quirky design they’re perfect for when the weather is getting colder. My boot of choice this autumn will be my Dr Martens, my new ones to be precise. Back in March my boyfriend was kind enough to buy me the limited edition Adventure Time Jake Dr Martens (post about them here!), but with a catch that I wouldn’t be allowed them until I’d finished my masters… Well now I’ve finished I’ll soon be able to wear these bad boys! Probably this weekend to be exact. I’ll probably wear these loads, especially when the weather is icy outside in winter time. With all the burgundy and mustard shades flying around for autumn, these are sure to fit in.

  • Comfort food.

I love food, I’ll admit that. I literally see food and eat it. BUT since starting my diet before July I’ve learnt when to say no to certain foods again… Although recently I have been a tad on the naughty side. But with the weather getting colder again, I can’t help but eat that little more and I especially sway towards carbs… A lot of carbs! My favourite autumn food is definitely macaroni cheese. It’s just so warming and gorgeous on a cold evening in front of the TV or a games console. Pizza is also a good one, but I don’t mean takeaway, I mean a massive one you can cook yourself and share. It saves money too, as well as unnecessary calories. Not only is dinner the time for comfort food, but breakfast can be too. My favourite being pancakes with bacon, something I made for me and my boyfriend over the weekend. He had honey with his as we never had any maple syrup and I had mine dry… Because I like my pancakes savory. Another pancake breakfast I want to make this year is blueberry pancakes, with blueberry syrup. I’m not done talking about food yet! Something else I love to eat during autumn is soup, and lots of it! I make my Chinese chicken and sweetcorn soup most weeks in autumn and winter, but I still want to try and make something else. Sweet potato and chicken soup is one I want to try and make soon… I might give it a go this week, see how I get on!

I can probably think of loads more things to talk about in the run up to autumn, but alas I want to save more for when autumn is actually here!

So, how many of my readers are excited for autumn and this month? Maybe you hate the colder weather and months? Make sure to let me know in the comments.

Until next time though, take care all and I hope you all had a great weekend.

Spring Tag!

Image taken from weheartit.com

I love spring, it means the weather is beginning to get warmer and lighter nights are just around the corner. Since getting back from my holiday I’ve been lusting after warmer weather and not needing to layer up and wear my parka. I just want to wear my pleather jacket again, as well as my dresses and playsuits.

It’s officially spring today! So what better way to start off spring 2015 on my blog, than a spring tag!

1. Favorite spring nail polish?
I like my cream and pastel shades for spring, and I’ll definitely be wearing my Models Own Speckled polishes (post about them here). They remind me of Mini Eggs, which I love. As well as that I’ll probably be wearing my Illamasqua Raindrops (review here) polish as I love that shade for spring too.

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
I’m swaying towards pinks this spring, mostly nude pinks as I’ve recently got into wearing this shade and I really like it. As well as that I always like to rock a hot pink shade too. You can’t go wrong with pink! One I’ll probably wear a lot is Miley Cyrus’ Viva Glam lipstick (review here).

3. Show us your favorite spring dress!
I have so many favourites! I love my Dr. Martens dress (lookbook here), as well as my Miss Selfridge playsuit which I wore on holiday and will continue to wear in the spring and summer in the UK. Here are some pictures of both dresses…

4. What’s your favorite flower?
I don’t reallllly like flowers to be honest and I put this down to having hayfever… But if I had to choose one it would probably be sunflowers and lilies.

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?
Favourite spring scarf is definitely my white skull one that I bought three years ago (wow time flies!). It’s light and perfect to wear with dresses in the spring and summer.

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)
I am really liking the look of the 70’s trend, as I find the style that was out then was pretty nice and looked lovely. When it comes to make up and hair, I don’t really bother with those trends as I just wear my hair how I want to, and same with my lipstick too. Clothes wise, I am in desperate need of a make over! So I may go down the 70’s route!

Image taken from weheartit.com

7. Favorite spring candle?
I’ll burn anything throughout the year, but I think out of all my Yankee Candles the candles I’ll be burning most throughout spring will be Sweet Strawberry and Sweet Apple (post about them both here). They’re perfect for spring and smell delicious too. They’re simple too which is great for spring.

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?
Ooo this is a tough one as I have so many I like to wear throughout the year. I think a few that I really like are Paul Smith Rose, DKNY MYNY, Marc Jacobs Oh Lola, Gucci Envy Me, and Lancome Miracle. They’re all light and floral and citrus scents which work lovely for spring.

9. What is spring like where you live?
Erm… It depends I suppose but usually wet! It rains a lot in the UK as it is, but it seems to rain more during spring than any other month. The thing I like about spring in the UK is how great it is to go into the countryside and awe over all the baby animals, as well as take in the sights. I especially love seeing cherry blossom trees.

Image taken from weheartit.com

10. What’s your favorite thing about spring?
Baby animals and cherry blossom trees for sure! They just both make me happy, especially when it comes to photography too. I also like how lighter nights come around and you can go out in the evenings with friends, family, partner, etc and just enjoy yourselves for longer. It’s also nice how it gets a little warmer out too.

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
Sometimes, not like hardcore but I would like to do a lot of spring cleaning this year. I’ve done a little already with my clothes, but I need to do some more. There’s probably loads of junk I could chuck away out of my room!

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?
We don’t have spring break in the UK, but we do get Easter break. I’m not at uni during this time for two weeks and throughout that time I’ll be working, as well as doing my uni work. I may also use it to do my spring cleaning and have a bit of me and blog time. I won’t have any holiday’s coming up, but I would love to go out for a day somewhere nice for my boyfriends birthday, which is just after the Easter holiday’s.

Image taken from weheartit.com

So that was the Spring Tag! I really enjoyed doing it, and I hope my readers have enjoyed reading it.

Who do I tag? EVERYONE! If you take part in this tag, please link me back to said post via a comment so I can come and read it.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you all have a good weekend.

These Boots are Righteous, not Wrongteous!

So as I was explaining last weekend (post here), I was going to be getting my hands on the Jake Dr. Martens x Adventure Time boots and of course, I got them.

First of all i want to say how image heavy this post is going to be! I wanted to make sure to get as many pictures taken as possible to show the boots off the best I could.

I want to just explain here again how these are infact an early present from my boyfriend for completing/passing my masters at university. However, as this isn’t due until September, I have six months to wait until I can officially have these! So whilst they were at my house, before heading to his and being locked away, I thought I would write a quick post about them and show them off.

These came out on Monday 2nd and not even a week into their release and all three styles of the boots were sold out online, as well as in most stores. I was gob smacked! I was beginning to panic I wouldn’t get my own pair, however after calling the Birmingham Dr. Martens store and reserving a pair to try on and buy, I was relieved.

I just want to say, the guy who I spoke to on the phone was extremely helpful and was sad I wasn’t able to thank him on Saturday when I picked them up. So, thanks Phil you were extremely helpful and made a Dr. Martens and Adventure Time fan very happy.

I just want to talk a little about the boots before I show them off.

They were unisex boots, but that isn’t an issue, I find anyway. They’re not patent, but normal leather and because of it are incredibly soft. This will make them easier to “break in”, which is something I have found issues with my patent leather Dr. Martens, even though I bought them second-hand!

The guy who served us (my boyfriend was with me) was telling us how the collection has been in such high demand that stores have been calling each other asking for stock as they’d sold out of certain sizes, if not all in some stores. In fact, my boots were so in demand that I had a “queue” of four people after me waiting to try them on, that was if I didn’t buy them of course.

I’m really surprised that the collection has sold out so quickly. I knew it was going to sell out, don’t get me wrong but I didn’t imagine that in the first week of being on the selves it would be pretty much gone. This is great for Dr. Martens and if they don’t decide to bring out some more styles, then they’re being daft!

Another thing I want to mention is my concern that when I got to the store to try these on, I wouldn’t like them. Don’t get me wrong, they look amazing, but just because something looks good on the picture, doesn’t mean they’ll look good on you. I’ve always had this in mind when it comes to clothes and shoes, that’s just me. My boyfriend also shared this concern but we were both pleasantly surprised when I tried them on and they looked perfect. The yellow shade of the Jake boots seems like it might be in your face, but it isn’t at all. It’s quite a nice creamy yellow, which works perfectly.

Something I think is amazing about Dr. Martens is that they do student discount, as you wouldn’t imagine such a “high up” fashion store would. Because of this my boyfriend saved £13.00 on these boots, causing them to cost £117.00 instead of £130.00.

Any flaws I need to get off my chest before I talk about all the good things? Yes, actually. I have quite a few flaws.

One I want to get off of my chest is that whilst I think it looks awesome and gives the boot a bit more of personality, the strap across the top bugs me a tad. When I wear my Docs usually, I like them to have an eyelet or two open at the top so that they can slouch a little and have a more “comfortable” look to them, but sadly you can’t do that with these. But this being said, they do look quirky and different, so it isn’t necessarily a flaw… Just me being a fussy cow!

Another problem I had, was the price. Yes, I know I didn’t pay for these, BUT I wanted to buy my boyfriend a pair for his birthday next month and alas, I can’t. They’re far too expensive (unless I take out a loan, ha!) and I don’t think he would want me to spend so much on boots, even though he has on me. It isn’t just the adults boots that are expensive either, at £80 a pair, the children’s boots are shockingly expensive! But, that’s Dr. Martens for you. You do get amazingly quality for the money and I’ve paid lots for my triumphs in the past and they’re still holding up and are some of the most comfortable shoes I own.

So, onto what these babies look like!

As you can see they’re a gorgeous cream yellow and have some detailing on them, mostly in black.

You also have a pair of straps on each boot, which are meant to be Jake’s hands/fists, a very unique touch! On the outside of each boot you have a drawing of Jake’s arm so when the strap is across the boot, it looks like his hand is attached to the arm. Pretty cool huh?

On the front of each boot you have a different picture of Jake, on the left boot you have him sticking out his tongue, and on the right boot you have him smiling. Very simple, yet incredibly cute. As well as that, on each boot beside these faces, there are cute little ears.

These also come with two different coloured laces, one black (as you can see) and a pack of yellow. I’ll probably stick with wearing the black ones, as I find they’ll work better. As Dr. Martens sell so many different coloured laces, I could always try a different colour in the future if I do so wish

To wear these are pretty damn comfortable and in comparison to my patent leather docs, they’re a shit load better! They feel like they will dig in a little at the back when I first wear them out and about, but that is to be expected. With some thick long socks and plenty of plasters, I’ll be okay!

It looks like Dr. Martens really went all out to make sure this collection was perfect and I think they did an amazing job! To have seen these back in May/June whilst they were in the factory and to finally see them now in my own room, waiting to be worn, I’m actually glad they turned out perfectly.

To be honest these boots just remind me of when I tried for an apprenticeship at Dr. Martens and how gutted I was not to have gotten myself a place. I could try again, but would there be any point? No, because I know that isn’t the way I need to go.

I think my Jake boots will always remind me to be a kid at heart and have fun, no matter how serious things may seem to be.

What do I stand for?

I stand for being unique and not letting anyone tell you you aren’t stylish, pretty, skinny, or fat enough to be fashionable. Fashion is what you make of it, not the other way around.

I also stand for doing what makes you happy, with the people who make you happy.

So, those are my Jake Dr. Martens and I won’t be allowed them until September. They’re now back in their box, and will be kept safe and ready for when I finish my MA.

I can’t wait to have these ready for autumn and winter this year, they’ll go perfectly with all sorts when the chilly weather is back.

Do you like the Dr. Martens x Adventure Time collection? If so, which pair do you like best? If you don’t like it however, why not? Hell, have you even bought anything from the collection yet? If so let me know which boots you’ve bought!

Until next time, take care all.

Dr. Martens x Adventure Time

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock the past couple of weeks, then you probably know about Dr. Martens teaming up with Cartoon Network to bring us a very exciting collection for Adventure Time!

I knew about this collection coming out nearly a year ago. How? I tried for an apprenticeship at Dr. Martens in Nottingham, which I sadly didn’t get. On the day where I had my practical assessments and interview I saw the Adventure Time boots in there and of course I had to ask about them. They told me they would be coming out soon and when a few months later I asked in the Birmingham store about them, that’s when I found out they would be out for S/S 15.

The designs that they had when I eyed them up were the three pairs that have come out, which are Jake, Finn and a pair with loads of prints of Jake and Finn. However there was also two other pairs that haven’t come out with this collection, which were Marceline and Gunter. I can imagine these will be out A/W 15 or S/S 16.

If you haven’t seen these beauties yet, then I’m going to show you!

The promotional video for this is amazing and I like how they’ve incorporated their #STANDFORSOMETHING campaign with Finn and Jake.

Not only are these out for adults, but they’re out for kids too which aren’t cheap at £80 a pair! This being said the children’s pairs are super cute and I wish I could buy a pair to later on in life dress my own kid in.

These are unisex boots so come in sizes 3-13 in UK sizes, and this includes half sizes for 6 and 9 too.

So you can imagine my excitement when Dr. Martens officially came out with their news about the boots coming out. This being said, I’m on a spending ban and £130 is now a lot to me as I don’t earn much since cutting my hours down for uni.

I knew from seeing them at Dr. Martens in Nottingham all those months ago that I wanted either the Jake or Marceline pair. So I’ve always had my eye on them.

This collection officially went on sale on Monday and already the Jake pair have sold out, which hardly surprises me. The only pairs left are the Finn and Finn & Jake boot. I’m sure these will be available this time next week.

You can imagine how gutted I was when I saw the Jake boot has sold out, as these are said to have been made in limited numbers, so people who are still after these boots might not even get a pair now…

So I was double gutted, one because I couldn’t afford the boots in the first place and now the pair I want is sold out. Knowing how upset I was my boyfriend kindly offered to buy me the Jake pair as a “congratulations on finishing uni” present, which I course I won’t be allowed to have until September… Which I can deal with! At least I would have a pair!

So at this moment in time, we should now have them! I rang the Dr. Martens store in Birmingham and asked if they had any pairs in my size left and luckily they have ONE LEFT! They kindly reserved them for me for when I pop in today and I couldn’t help but be super excited for today so that I can finally get my hands on this pair.

Seeing as I’m not allowed them until September, I don’t know if I’ll be writing a post about these before then… I’m hoping I’ll be allowed to but my boyfriend has been really strict on when I can have these, and I can understand why. They’re an early present, but not early enough I can have them now! Damn!

Either way I haven’t been so excited for a collection in a long time and Dr. Martens pulled a good move bringing this collection out.

One thing I would say about this collection is that IF you want a pair, get down to your local store soon or order online (if you can of course) as soon as possible as these are going fast.

I do have a feeling they’ll bring out another soon, as I said before. In said collection I would love to see some Lumpy Space Princess boots! It would be cool to see some Fiona boots too, but I can’t see this happening.

What do you think of the Adventure Time collection? Do you love it, do you hate it? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all!
