August Favourites ’17

YAY SEPTEMBER! Oh my I have been so excited for this month to roll around. Apart from the holiday this is always my month of the year where I try to get a fresh start in order. I’ll try and do a blog post about this before I go on holiday.

This past months favourites has been so hard to do as I really had to have a good think about what products I was loving. Obviously I came up with my 5 items for the month but it wasn’t easy!

• Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Skin Wash.

This is a shower gel I’ve started using again and I always forget how amazing it is! It’s a massive bottle that my mom gave me not long before me and Dane moved into the house. I stopped using it because I wanted to save it for whenever I fancied using it again. Of course tea tree is antibacterial and due to that I love using this shower gel to help me feel lovely and clean. My anxiety can sometimes make me worry I smell and I’m dirty, even if I’ve just got out of the shower. Bless my mom she recently gave me ANOTHER bottle of this and as you can see from the picture, it’s huge. A 1000ml bottle in fact. So I’ve started using it again. I forgot how refreshing this shower gel is and I love it so damn much!

• Benefit Gogotint Cheek & Lip Stain (review here).

This was one of my new purchases in July/August and it’s the main lip product I’ve worn throughout the month. It’s so easy to apply and in so many different ways! I love wearing it at work at the moment as it adds a pop of colour in the mornings and I can apply my Vaseline over the top of it without any colour being ruined. This will definitely be worn loads throughout September and especially on holiday. You can read my review to understand more of why it’s on my favourites this month.

• Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel.

You know Lush Christmas is looming when I get the Snow Fairy out! I still have a massive 1kg bottle left to break out and use when we’re back from holiday, but for now me and Dane have really been enjoying this one and have used nearly all of it! I forgot how sickly sweet it is and I fucking love it! It’s been a shower gel I’ve used on days off as well as in the bath alongside some of my Lush bubble bars and bath bombs. I’m excited to find out what we’ll be getting for Christmas with Lush!

• Rimmel London Insta Fix & Matte Powder.

I bought this powder as I needed a new one and this has been everywhere on blogs the past month or two. I’m glad I picked it up as it’s a great powder for the price. All the same however it’s not the best in the world, but it definitely does the job whenever I’m getting ready and popping out. I’ve been using it loads this month and I’m probably going to take it with me on holiday too as it’ll be great to use in the evenings to keep shine away. This doesn’t keep shine away all day, but it will for at least 6 hours.

• DIOR Addict EDP.

I’ve owned this perfume since I went to Fuerteventura in 2015 and it’s still got loads left in the bottle! I started using this mid August and I actually forgot how much I love the scent. I can’t really describe it to be honest with you. It’s sweet but not a girly, teenage, Britney Spears type scent but more of a mature woman smell. It’s the sort of fragrance that if you will see a business woman wear. 😛 This is a classic and has been around for over 10 years now.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – This Is England 86, 88 and 90.

To say I love This Is England is a massive understatement. I don’t know why but recently I felt the need to watch the TV series from the start to finish. I watched all 11 episodes in probably a day if not two and I fell in love all over again. I didn’t watch the film however. I do have a feeling I felt the urge to watch them due to watching Joseph Gilgun in Preacher recently. Which I am still loving from last month by the way! If you’ve never watched the This Is England series then I seriously suggest you do so asap! You’ll love it more than the film, I guarantee. I just love LOL and Woody so damn much. I wish I had them both as friends.

Favourite Film – Swiss Army Man and To The Bone.

I recently watched these two films thanks to both Amazon and Netflix. Me and Dane have wanted to watch Swiss Army Man for ages but we just never got around to it until we saw it recently being advertised on Amazon Prime. It was all that I could imagine it to be and even more, quite honestly it was weird and amazing and I recommend it for everyone to watch! I’ve had to put a trailer above because I’m pretty sure many haven’t even heard of this film before.

I also recently watched To The Bone, which is about a girl dealing with an eating disorder. It reminds me of a John Green novel and I just fell in love with all of the characters. The film ended and I was left wanting to find out more of what happened! I recommend you watch it if you love films, TV shows and books like this. Something to watch out for is if you have or are currently dealing with an eating disorder then this could trigger you, so please be cautious before watching.

Favourite Book – Erm…

I haven’t read anything this month sadly. I don’t know what it is at the moment but I just haven’t really been reading anything, not even manga. I’m kind of waiting to go on holiday to catch up on reading all my manga at the moment. But I can see me just taking two Bridget Jones books to read.

Favourite Song/Album – K-ON! Soundtrack.

Dane recently bought the soundtrack to K-ON! and that’s pretty much most of what we’ve both been listening to and I actually love it! I can’t wait to listen to these songs when we’re on holiday as they’re just some really happy and go lucky feeling songs. The song I’ve added above is one of the last songs the band create together and it’s the last one we hear on the anime too. It’s the girls goodbye song to the youngest member of the band, Azusa. They’re all leaving to go to college and she’s staying at school for her final year. It’s a very sad song but it’s lovely all the same and is definitely my favourite.

Favourite Game – Persona 5… YES IT STILL IS, GET OVER IT! 😛

Yes I am STILL playing Persona 5 and I don’t give a fuck! Sadly due to how bad my mental health has been throughout August I haven’t been reading nor have I been playing games and it’s purely because I just haven’t had the patience or thought behind doing either of them. Watching films and TV shows has been fine though.

This being said I have been playing Minecraft with Dane quite a lot lately. We both craved a game we could just chill out and play together and Minecraft was the perfect game for this. We’ve played it loads and I forgot how much I love it. We haven’t played it as much though lately, sadly. I’m sure we will again soon.

So those are my favourites from August! It went by really quickly and a part of me is so pleased. I fucking hated August. It was full of stress for me and mind fucks and I’m really hoping that September will bring better things.

August ’16 Favourites

I can’t believe it’s September… This year has really flown by and I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing. To think in just a couple of days me and Dane have had the keys to our house for three months. WOW that has REALLY flown by! Not just that but we’ve now been living here over a month. Oh dear I feel so grown up and awesome and stuff. 😛

Since moving into the house I feel like I’ve discovered some amazing new products and I’m excited to talk about those today.

• L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask in Detox (link)

This was a new purchase in August but one I really fell in love with throughout the month as it’s such a great mask! I use it as a once maybe twice a week treat. I don’t want to talk too much about this as I only reviewed it a couple of days ago, so I’ll leave the link here so you can read a bit more about it.

• NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Stone Fox (link)

I didn’t think I’d love this lipstick as much as I did due to the colour… I bought it on a whim and as a treat as I had wanted it for quite a while but it sat in my drawer for about a month as I was too anxious to wear it out. As soon as I put this on though and went out with it I just couldn’t stop wearing it! I even wear it to work and get so many compliments on it. It reminds me of a liquid lipstick but much more comfortable to wear. I’ve already bought another shade, Cherry Skies. I’ll definitely be reviewing this very soon.

• Lush The Comforter Shower Cream (link)

After settling into the house I went into my box of Lush goodies and took out some treats to keep in the bathroom to use. This included lots of bath bombs, bubble bars and of course shower gels and creams. I forgot how much I love The Comforter shower cream and although I only have the small bottle a little bit of this cream goes a long way. It leaves me smelling like Ribena and feeling soft and smooth! Eventually I want to get the huge 1KG bottle of this stuff.

• Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Powder (link)

I wanted to pick up a new face powder that I could use all the time, as I’ve been using a lot of my Chanel powder lately and I want to try and keep that for days off work. I had been looking around for ages for a decent one and finally stumbled across this. From using it so far it really does mattify my face and leaves it looking good for at least 8 hours. I also bought the primer to match this which works really well with the powder. A little bit of this goes a very long way, which is great.

• St. Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub (link)

I have nothing but great things to say about this face scrub! I use this twice a week to make sure to get rid of any dead skin cells, as well as any rough patches on my face (mostly my cheeks) from where my skin has dried out over the days in between using this. I picked it up on a whim as it was on an offer at the time (£3 from Sainsburys to be exact) and I’m so glad I did. The only problem I have with it is the bits of scrub get “stuck” in my eyebrows and it can take ages to get every bit out. I’ll definitely be buying this again in the future though.

High-End Beauty Haul & A Foxy Surprise!

Recently my family went on holiday and came back before the weekend. The three weeks they were away for has really flown by, and I was glad to see them arrive home safely.

When they got back they were bearing gifts, as well as with a surprise gift for me. I had asked my mom to pick me up some goodies whilst she was there, which I would give her the money for.

We have a home over in Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, and due to it being a tax-free island it can sometimes work out cheaper to buy beauty related goodies over there, rather than here.

I only have four things she picked up for me, but they’re all amazing, and I couldn’t wait to show them off to you today!

• Lancome Juicy Shaker Lip Gloss in shade Mint To Be – £18.00

I already have one of these in shade Berry In Love (you can read my review here) and whilst I didn’t review it with all-stars and positives, I still rather like it for work if I fancy something light, which I can reapply without the worry I look like coco the clown. This is a rather odd shade considering it’s blue, but I love how it reminds me of my teenage years of wearing sheer blue lipsticks and lip glosses. This is just like the name too, it’s very minty and makes my lips feel tingly and feel fresh, which is nice! I can’t wait to rock this over the summer months on hots days out. For a while this was only an exclusive at Selfridges and Lancome’s official website, but it appears to be available everywhere now, although I think it is a limited edition shade.

• Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte Natural Finish Pressed Powder in shade Peche – £33.00

I’m hitting pan on my current face powder, which means it’s time to think about buying something new! I mentioned to my mom that I wanted to get something new, and asked her if she could have a nose whilst on holiday for something fancy for me. She had a look around and found this lovely piece for me! A Chanel powder… Oh my! I wasn’t expecting this! I especially wasn’t expecting it to be a peach shade, I would have thought it would be white. This being said it’s only a subtle colour and doesn’t affect the colour of my own skin in any way. I cannot wait to start using this, it’s such a gorgeous piece to have in my make up collection now, especially with its beautiful velvet pouch that it lives in.

• Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in shade Plum Shimmer – £18.00

I own two of these already, Rose Shimmer, and Candy Shimmer, both of which I bought from Fuerteventura last time I went in November 2015. This is one of the newer shades in the lip perfector collection and it is right up my street! It’s a raspberry pink shade, and when applied multiple times it gives a nice dark payoff to it. I will rock this loads throughout the summer, as well as every other time of year! I hope to review them all together soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

• Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo Lipstick in shade Roman – £26.00

This is probably my favourite item that I bought from the bunch as not only is it a new and exciting product by Chanel, but it’s also such a lovely shade. I wish I could have really swatched a variety of the shades before picking the one I had, but from looking at swatches and pictures from Tempalia’s post over on her blog, I knew I would love Roman. It’s a hot pink shade, and very me! Makes a change from purple shades, that’s for sure. It’s not like your normal lipsticks either, this one has a buttery and moisturising formula which is really nice! The thing I love the most is the tube, which is long and sleek, which as the name states, looks stylish. I cannot wait to review this beauty!

Finally I have the special gift that my dad got for me! When we went on holiday together in November I eyed up this cushion and fell in love with it. It has a fox on it, how could I NOT fall in love with it?! I don’t know what I’m going to do with it yet… Probably stick it on my bed and use it as a back rest. 😛 It’s huge though, probably half the size of my body. It’ll definitely be nice to use as something to lean on whilst I work on blog posts. This only cost my dad €27.95, which works out to £21.25. Bargain really considering how big it is, I mean look at the picture of it with my hand on top… That is how big it is!

So that’s my little high-end beauty haul! I do not know the prices in euros at this time, but when I find out I will update this post as and when. I hope to review the majority of the goodies mentioned on here soon as well.
