Christmas Tag 2020

On My Way Christmas GIF by MOODMAN

Christmas is now less than a week away and you know what? I have zero festive spirit behind me and it kinda sucks. SO, I thought I would have a go at being festive in the run up to Christmas and found this Christmas tag online! I’m going to nominate everyone who reads this post to give this tag a go themselves!

I think I’m not feeling festive due to a mixture of COVID, age and especially due to the loss I experienced in September. So, I would really love to get into the festive spirit now… Especially with Christmas just around the corner. I really hope you guys enjoy the tag and take part in it too!

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

This is quite an easy one and it’s hands down Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. I just fell in love with the film more so than the original one… But I do love Home Alone just the same! I just found it to be the perfect Christmas film growing up, but I also loved watching it throughout the year too. It’s usually the first Christmas film I stick on in the year and this year it was kind of different to the other times I’ve watched it. I found myself questioning a lot of what happened and it made me laugh! A couple of runner ups here are Jingle All The Way and The Grinch (the one with Jim Carrey).

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

I don’t remember to be perfectly honest with you… I know in 2017 we had snow just before Christmas which was amazing! I literally had to Google when we last had a white Christmas in Birmingham and apparently it was 2010… But I cannot remember that for the life of me. 😛

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Mostly at home now, but me and Dane tend to change it up each year and go to each others families together Christmas Day. However I think after this year we’ll be staying at home all day. I like to be able to cook our Christmas dinner together but then we tend to have to “rush” and then go out not long after eating. It’ll be nice not to have to rush around this year.

What’s your favourite Christmas song?

Paul McCartney – “Wonderful Christmastime” and Slade – “Merry Christmas Everybody” are two that always come to mind. I do like “Last Christmas” as well BUT I overheard it so much one year that I can’t stand when I hear it now. This year, as of yet I haven’t listened to ANY Christmas songs yet and I’m happy with that… 😛

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Not really to be honest with you, we like to wait until the big day to open our gifts for one another. We get breakfast, snuggle up in bed and exchange gifts. I’m quite excited for Dane to have his presents this year as I’ve really spoilt him. 🙂

Image taken from Sugar Bunny Shop – You can pre-order the Santa’s Reindeer Wood Ornament Garland now!

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comic Blitzen, Rudolph (of course) and Vixie? I know there’s more but I can’t think of them… *Googles* Prancer, Dancer, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Dasher, Vixen, Blitzen, and Rudolph! I got five out of nine so I didn’t do toooooo badly! 😛

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

We don’t really have any to be perfectly honest with you… I think one we’ve really gotten now is the whole, breakfast in bed and opening presents together. 🙂

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It’s fake. I’d buy a real one but our living room isn’t big enough for it… Although I have always wanted a tiny one to keep on the table OR by the front door over December. Maybe next year. 🙂

What’s your favourite holiday food/treat/sweet?

I’m a sucker for the dinner to be honest with you. I love sweet ham over Christmas with pigs in blankets, massive Yorkshire puddings, my mom’s gravy (mines good but it will never beat hers!) and crispy AF roast potatoes. 😀 I’m cooking lamb this year. The first Christmas we did at home (2018) the meat I cooked wasn’t good and it was such a shame, so I’m giving it another go this year in the hopes it’s really yummy! 🙂

Be honest. Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?

Giving gifts. I love being able to buy gifts for people who either won’t buy the item in question for themselves, or surprise them with something I know they would love and appreciate but don’t actually know about and such. Plus it’s always nice to buy a gift and see someone’s face light up. 🙂 I especially love when I see Dane open his gifts, as well as my mom.

Christmas 2018 – Olivia Burton fox snow globe watch from my mom.

Christmas 2013 – Cinnamon the German Market fox from Dane.

What’s the best Christmas present you’ve ever received?

One that comes to mind is my Olivia Burton fox snow globe watch. My mom bought this for me in 2018 and I still love it so much. As the little crystals move around inside it’s one I always stare at during meetings at work and when I’m out and about… However, I haven’t worn it much this year due to lockdown but before COVID existed I was wearing this all the time! She even got my name etched on the band too, which is a really nice touch. I may try and get a replacement band at some point soon as the one I have at the moment is looking tired.

Alongside that there is also one of the presents I received from Dane when we had our first Christmas together – this little fox plushie. I don’t think we’ve been to another Birmingham German Market together since 2013, but whilst we were there we walked past a stand that sold plushies. I saw this cute little fox and Dane bought it for me straight away. I still own this plush to this day and it’s now in my plushie cupboard, where he belongs! It just always reminds me of Dane and how excited I was for Christmas with him. For a very long time I’d hated Christmas, but when he came into my life he really made me feel better about this time of year. P.S. We called my little fox Cinnamon. 🙂

What’s your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Japan, for sure! I would love to go to see how festive it would be, have a KFC for Christmas dinner and if possible stay somewhere like a private onsen where we could spend the evening in and out of the hot bath, eat yummy food and just relax together and exchange presents. It might be something I suggest to Dane in the future for sure. 🙂 I’d only want to go for a week, maybe ten days at a push so we can enjoy the festive period together.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m in-between. Before I met Dane I used to fail miserably as I never really concentrated or had as much to wrap as previous. I feel especially since we moved in together I spend a bit more time on my wrapping and whilst I’m not a pro, I’m definitely better! I’ve watched how my dad and one of my friends wrap their presents and they’re definite pros! They take their time, make lots of folds and more and their gifts look to good to open. 🙂

1995 – My parents bought me the Pocahontas Braided Beauty doll for Christmas when I was five. Image taken from Amazon.

What’s your most memorable Christmas memory?

Mmm… I don’t know to be perfectly honest. There’s a couple that stand out but I always love to share this one…

When I was five Pocahontas came out and I fell in love with that film (still one of my favourites!) and my parents made sure to buy me plenty of Pocahontas presents that Christmas. I received a cute red jumper/sweater with Pocahontas on, that I LIVED in for as long as I can remember. They also bought me the Pocahontas braided beauty doll which I LOVED! It came with Pocahontas doll as well a a braiding tool that looked like Meeko. I loved Meeko and my parents knew that, but I imagine there weren’t any specific Meeko toys and this was close enough. PLUS I had long hair growing up, that my mom would braid for me, so I imagine she saw this when shopping in Toys R Us and bought it because it was all the things I loved. 🙂 It was clearly a thought out gift for me as a kid. 🙂

What made you realise the truth about Christmas?

I remember I had written a letter for Father Christmas as a kid, as well as drew some pictures of Rudolph and Father Christmas. I knew it was my dad when I woke up the next day to read, “Well done!”, “Great picture!” and “Merry Christmas” on each picture and the letter I wrote. I know my dad’s writing and it was the same. It was from then on I knew who was really delivering my Christmas presents and who they were from. I’d had my suspicions for a while and I’m pretty sure the year before I’d seen my dad putting presents in my room as I turned in my sleep and was half awake.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Being with people I love and making them smile. Obviously yummy food and being merry is always good too, BUT it is definitely about making people happy and being around the people who make you happy. I’m sad that I can’t see my parents properly over Christmas. They’ll be driving over to my house next week to drop off gifts and have a chat from the front door to their car at the end of the drive. This year has been hard for my family due to our loss in September and I especially feel for my mom this year. I just wish I could give her a hug and a kiss when exchanging gifts and more. I know the time will come where we can ALL make up for lost time… But it’s just really hard this year.

So, there we have it! The Christmas Tag! It’s kind of started getting me into the Christmas spirit this afternoon whilst answering the tag questions and to be honest with you guys, I hope I get more and more festive as the time goes on.

This evening I’m actually going to host a mini “German Market at home” for me and Dane. I’m making hot dogs (not the nasty shit in the jars!), fries and instead of hot chocolate, I’m going to serve chocolate cake with Bailey’s!

I’m super excited for it and I just hope it goes down well. 🙂

How are you all feeling about Christmas this year? Especially with COVID. Me and Dane will be staying at home throughout the festive period, including New Year to stay safe at home. I hope my readers will be doing the same…

Please let me know what you are most excited about this year in the comments. 🙂

Until next time guys, please stay safe during these times and see you soon.

How To Make Your Dinner Table Geeky This Christmas

It’s only a couple more days until Christmas now and I still don’t know if I’m even in the Christmas spirit yet… You know? I don’t know what it’s been this year, I think I’ve just been far too busy with work and in general to get festive. That or I’m just getting to be an old Grinch… 😛

I’m trying to get into the Christmas spirit though so today I’m bringing a collab post to you all! Me and Sarah over at Raiin Monkey decided to do another collab post for Christmas again! We did last year and I loved it so much, so much so I knew we had to work together again to bring you our posts today.

Sarah’s going to write about how to make your home geeky this Christmas and I’m going to write how to make your dinner table geeky for Christmas Day!

I’m having Christmas dinner at home for the first time this year, so I’m rather excited to cook for me and Dane! This geeky dinner table guide from myself will be handy if like me this is also your first Christmas at home where you’re having dinner. 🙂

I really hope you enjoy this geek related Christmas post! 😀

  • Original Stormtrooper Espresso Mug Set – (link)

Personally I love coffee, but I has espresso. It just isn’t for me. I do understand some people do really like it though and especially love to have it after a meal. I don’t know anyone who has had an espresso after a Christmas meal to be honest with you, but I know there’s someone out there who does it… There has to be! Maybe you’re one of those people? If so these espresso mugs will be right up your street! Hey! If you don’t use them for espresso, they’ll make great glasses for some strong liquor to go into, such as Bailey’s or maybe some Jack Daniels or Disaronno. I’d certainly go for the latter. 😉

  • Geeki Tikis Mugs Marvel Deadpool and Star Wars R2-D2 – (link) and (link)

I LOVE these Geeki Tiki mugs so much and they’d make a great addition to your home all year around, as well as Christmas. If you love making cocktails like I do, these will be perfect throughout Christmas Day! When I lived at home I’d always make me and mom a pina colada each to drink throughout the day. These geeky tiki mugs would be perfect for that, as well as other cocktails and beverages! There’s loads of mugs to choose from but the two I love the most are Deadpool and R2-D2.

  • Star Wars Shadow Trooper Bluetooth Speaker – (link)

As much as I’ve had enough of Christmas music now (after hearing every single possible Christmas song thanks to Magic FM…) I’m pretty much done for a couple of years now. 😛 However, I know a lot of people like to have Christmas music on throughout Christmas Day. Me and Dane have an Amazon Echo now so if we want some music on throughout the day we can just ask Alexa, however now everyone has that luxury. This Shadow Trooper speaker is pretty damn cool and even if you don’t have this for yourself in the house, it would also make an amazing gift for any music lover! You can have this on near the dinner table and listen to as much cheesy Christmas music as you want. 😛

  • Shaun Of The Dead Winchester Tavern Pint Bottle Opener – (link)

I am a MASSIVE fan of Shaun Of The Dead! It reminds me of when I was a teenager and studying my GCSE’s! When I lived at home we were always losing or misplacing our bottle opener and like most people on Christmas, we all drink a LOT of alcohol! This is just a cool and quirky bottle opener, not even so much geeky to be fair but I really like it.

  • Star Wars Stormtrooper Cheeseboard and Knife Set – (link)

Who doesn’t love some cheese on Christmas? Or anytime of year in fact! 😛 I remember last Christmas Dane’s family having a bit of a cheese selection after dinner, where I remember me eating all of the Applewood, because Applewood chedder is the God of chedder. 😛 This cheeseboard is pretty amazing as it looks gorgeous and inside it has loads of different edible tools for cheese. It’s just perfect for any geeky Christmas table!

  • Marvel Deadpool Salt & Pepper Shakers – (link)

I was so close to buying these a week ago when I popped into Nostalgia Comics in Birmingham town centre! I love Deadpool and having Deadpool themed things in my house is always something good to have. 😛 These aren’t over the top but will stand out on the table for Christmas dinner and the good thing is these can be used all year around too. I know some people who have Christmas themed salt and pepper shakers and it’s just pointless for one day really.

  • Pokemon Pikachu Cake Pan – (link)

Finally we have a Pokemon item on this list! I thought I would have had loads of Pokemon items on here for Christmas but could I find much? Could I bugger! The reason this cake pan is included in here is because I know not everyone likes Christmas pudding, myself included in there. I’m thinking of making some chocolate brownies Christmas Eve ready for Christmas Day. If I had it my way I’d make a chocolate cake using this Pikachu cake pan. 😛 It’s just so adorable and you could do so much with it come Christmas Day.

So there you have it, all my ideas of how you can geek up your table on Christmas Day! I know they’re not the best suggestions in the world, but they’re my suggestions and the best I could find so close to Christmas to be fair. 😛

Do you think you’ll geek up your table for Christmas Day? I don’t know if me and Dane will. We have a funky table cloth and some napkins, but that’s about it so far.

Again I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Sarah for collaborating with me again! She’s one of my best friends of the blogging world and I do love her so much. 🙂

Are you ready for Christmas? Let me know in the comments what your plans are for Christmas and how you intend to spend the day!

Until next time all, take care and I hope you’re ready for the weekend, I know I am after a long and busy week of work. 😛

Lush Rudolph Jelly Mask – Review

It’s almost been nearly a year since I last wrote a Lush review on my blog and I’m not in the slightest bit surprised (FYI it was this post). After Lush declared they would no longer hold their Boxing Day sales online I was a bit (very) pissed off. Not just for myself, but for people out there who can’t make it to the stores to grab themselves some bargains. It sucked and it was more than just that that annoyed me. Their scents are all the same lately (Le sigh – citrus) and the way their company has been lately it just put me off supporting them anymore.

On top of all that I just haven’t really been bathing as much as I used to. I think in my old job when I finished work at 1.30pm I’d come home and had a hot bath to relax myself after a shit morning at work. Now I get home around 5.30pm and cook dinner, chilling out and then sleep. 😛 Baths just aren’t fitted into my chilling out time lately due to a mixture of that time being taken up with playing games or blog writing.

However, since going to London in November that’s kind of changed. I went into the Oxford Street Lush and picked up some of the Christmas range for 2018. I LOVE some of the bits I picked up, but as of yet I haven’t actually used them… Oh dear.

I forgot to check out and pick one item up though that I was interested in, which I was gutted about. I don’t really go into Lush anymore as Dane doesn’t particularly like it and none of my friends are really arsed by it either. When me and Dane went Christmas shopping at the start of December he wanted to pop into Lush to look for some present ideas for people and I decided to pick up that one item I wanted to try!

I didn’t get chance to have a smell of it as the store was HEAVING! It wasn’t good really. The Birmingham store has now moved to a much bigger store (which is apparently bigger than Oxford Street!) so when we went shopping it was their tiny store. I just feel like the staff should have had a queuing system for the store as it was crazy packed. There were also members of staff standing around talking and to be honest, getting in the way of customers trying to look at items. I ended up barging past them all after saying excuse me so many times. We wanted to grab our items and get out of there.

RIGHT enough ranting!

The item I picked up, as you’ll see from the title is the Rudolph Jelly Face Mask, which I was inspired by Steffie over at My Lush and Stuff to pick up this jelly face mask as she made it sound so amazing! I may have gone off of Lush, but I’m all for a face mask that will do my skin wonders, whilst smelling amazing! 😛

Rudolph is a limited edition jelly face mask for Christmas and I already want it to stay around forever, I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. 😛

Although I’ve only owned it for a couple of weeks I’ve found that this face mask really has helped me after use and I KNEW I just had to write a review for it on my blog, especially with Christmas right around the corner.

As you can see from the image above it’s described as, “Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you cleanse my face with cocoa powder, orange oil and kaolin tonight?”

Oh the cringe, gold stars to whoever wrote it.

The jelly face masks come in smaller tubs than the fresh face masks do. They come in 65g tubs and costs £7.95, which to me isn’t cheap to be perfectly honest with you. This being said they’re not like the fresh face masks where you need to use them sooner rather than later and also need to keep them in the fridge. The jelly face masks don’t need to be kept in the fridge and have a long shelf life. The one I picked up has a 4 month shelf life on it, which is amazing!

The product itself reminds me of a chocolate mousse in both sight and scent! It smells so chocolately that I’m surprised I haven’t read of someone trying to eat it yet! It smells more rich chocolate scent, but due to the fact it contains orange oil you can get a hint of that. Either way it smells amazing! Of course the colour of this product is brown.

The look of the mask is clearly a jelly and when you push down on it it springs back. It reminds me of blancmange. In the middle is a cute little red shimmer piece of jelly, which is suppose to be Rudolph’s nose! I know you’re meant to pop it onto your nose to look like Rudolph yourself, but honestly I do not have a clue what else to do with it! 😛

This mask is said to be good for people with oily skin and also dry skin, so this sounds like it’d be perfect for combination skin to be honest. I haven’t been able to really find anywhere so I can go only go by the ingredients what this jelly face mask will do to your skin!

Kaolin clay is great for absorbing excess oils on the skin and also cleans out the pores and cocoa powder helps to soothe and moisturise the skin. This to me states how it is perfect for combination skin, which is my skin type. This would make a great gift for a teenager as obviously it smells amazing and will help them with their troubled teenage skin.

This is my first time trying a jelly face mask and it was definitely a bizarre and odd experience the first time I tried it. I wasn’t quite sure HOW to use it, well I did as I’d seen YouTube videos in the past, but I mean in the sense of how much I needed to use. I popped into a Lush store recently and noticed for their samples and DIY jelly face masks they’d cut the mask up into chunks inside the tub, which I think is a great idea! I wish I’d thought to do that before I’d started using it.

The one thing I really hate about the packaging for this face mask is the stickers around the packaging. You can read any of the writing! Why would you put black text against dark brown? Surely you would change to white writing so we can read the instructions and such properly? Alas this isn’t the case and whenever I want to read the side of the pot I have to get the torch on my phone.

How the jelly face masks work is you grab some of the mask out of the tub and with dry hands rub the jelly between your hands to create a paste. Apply to your face and leave for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water or a cloth.

I don’t know if the first few times I used this I just didn’t use enough or what, but it’s such an odd product to work with, but not in a negative way. I grabbed (what I thought) was a big enough chunk to cover my whole face, rubbed it between my hands to make a paste and applied it to my face. The more I applied it onto my face and massaged it into the skin the more it seemed to move around and build up into jelly chunks, instead of smoothing my face evenly. It’s rather odd and I don’t know if I like it.

I gave up moving it around my face after a while and just settled with it on my skin. I love to use face masks in the bath 9 times out of 10 as it’s so much easier to rinse them off than it is in the sink. The shower is great too, but having a soak in the bath with a face mask on is definitely relaxing.

I usually leave this on for 10 minutes after it dries back to a jelly type form, which I find really odd. When dry if you rub at it with dry hands it starts to rub away and go back to a jelly type form, which I find really odd but somewhat satisfying.

I thought it would be hard to wash off due to the jelly but it’s actually pretty straight forward and after going over with a flannel, the mask is off and my skin feels baby soft to the touch!

I apply some moisturiser after I get out of the bath just to make sure my face is as soft as it can be!

Would I pick this up again? I would but at the same time I don’t know. It has improved my combination skin, but not for all that long. I feel like using this twice as a week is a good idea, but at the same time for how much you pay, twice as a week is such a waste of money! I’m going to use it once a week or once a fortnight and use it every now and then.

I do rather like this jelly face mask and would like to try the other ones in the future, but at the same time the others don’t really appeal to me all that much. This one is amazing and I wish Lush would make it permanent as it reminds me of the Cupcake face mask and I CANT STAND IT! The one time I used it it caused me to break out really badly. 😦

Don’t forget this is a Christmas limited edition product so it’ll only be available until (probably) Christmas Eve and then it will be gone!

SO! What do you think of Rudolph jelly face mask? Would you give it a go or give it a miss? Have you already tried it? What do you think? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

The Christmas Tag 2018

Excited The Office GIF

Image taken from GIPHY

Christmas is just 16 days away now and I’m pretty much ready for the day now. All I need to buy is FOOD and I honestly cannot wait for Christmas food. 😛

I was recently tagged by Jess over at Little Pink Duck to take part in this tag, which I was really happy about! I love doing a tag every season and every awesome holiday that comes our way, especially Christmas! I don’t know if I’ve done this one, I actually don’t think I have which is amazing. If you want to check out Jess’ post and her answers, I’ll pop the link here for you. 🙂

I hope you enjoy the tag anyhoo, especially my answers. It’s Saturday evening and I’m watching Peep Show’s Christmas special.

What is your favourite Christmas film?

It has to be the Home Alone films! The first Christmas film I stuck on this year was Home Alone 2. They definitely remind me of when I was little at Christmas. There’s other films I love too, but this is always the first film that pops into my head whenever I think about Christmas films. 🙂

Have you ever had a White Christmas?

I feel like I have a few times to be fair. I remember it snowing when I was about 6 but it may have snowed before or after Christmas. The one year before I met Dane (probably 6-7 years ago!) I remember it snowed a little on Christmas Day, which was really nice to watch in the dining room whilst eating dinner and opening gifts.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

I usually go to mine or Dane’s parents, but this year we’re actually going to be at home, which will be really nice. 🙂 I’m rather excited to be honest with you as I love cooking, so the thought of me and Dane getting up in the morning to get Christmas lunch/dinner started together, whilst we watch a Christmas movie or listen to Christmas songs. I am really looking forward to it.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I would usually say Wham – Last Christmas but I’ve heard it so fucking much this year that it’s definitely not anymore. I completely forgot that Queen has a Christmas song, so when Dane showed me this recently I fell in love. It hasn’t come on the radio much at work but when it has, it’s really put me in the Christmas mood.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Never! I remember I did for a time growing up, I’d always open a certain gift from a certain relative but as I got older I never received that gift anymore, so I stopped doing it. I mean, what’s the point in opening something early?! 😛

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Comic, Blitzen, Dasher, Pranser, erm… Does Rudolf technically count?

*Google searches*

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolf.

I didn’t do too badly, did I? 😛

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

I’m looking forward to creating the traditions me and Dane will have for having Christmas at home! I’m really excited for what we’re going to do on the day and how we’re going to do it.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake! I remember as a kid my mom decided to buy a real one and it was gorgeous, but it was a pain for the month she had it. The needles kept falling off etc. I don’t think I’d ever have a real one myself.

What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?

Mmm I always love the Christmas dinner. The way my parents do gravy, to huge fluffy Yorkshire puddings. I love everything! If there is one thing I’m not arsed about over Christmas it’s all the chocolates that go around throughout the day. We never did this as a family growing up, so whenever anyone does it elsewhere I just don’t get it to be fair. 😛

Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I actually really love giving gifts. I like to think I’m quite thoughtful in the gifts I buy so when I get to see peoples reactions to what I’ve bought them, it really does make me happy. I feel rather guilty this year with Dane’s presents as I personally feel like I haven’t bought him a whole lot, even though deep down I know I have. :’)

I’m doing Secret Santa at work in a few weeks time and I really hope the person I have loves what I bought them. I can’t wait to see their face.

What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

I could never pick one gift to be honest with you. I have a little collection to be fair including, my Kitchen Aid mixer, my Dyson hairdryer, my huge Totoro plushie, my Thomas Sabo bracelet, a little fox that Dane bought me when we first went to the Birmingham German Market together.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I don’t know to be perfectly honest… The only place I can think of is Japan, but I’d love to visit there all year around to be perfectly honest with you. 😛 Me and Dane could have KFC for Christmas dinner hahaha!

Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

I’m not a pro, but I’m not a fail anymore! I’m definitely getting better, which makes me happy as I feel so good in myself when I’ve wrapped a present really nicely. 🙂 I’m rather proud of how I wrapped most of my presents this year!

Most memorable Holiday moment?

Probably the first year I spent Christmas with Dane. It was probably the first one in years where I was genuinely excited for it for all sorts of reasons.

When did you realise the truth about Santa?

I must have been 10 or 11 and someone told me, “You really think Father Christmas buys all those presents for you? It’s your mom, Nat.”

I was of course gutted, but meh I soon got over it. xD

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I usually make at least one New Year’s resolution, this year was to save money which I’ve done really well and was quite pleased with. I’m trying to think what I can do this year and again it’ll probably be to save up money, but this time for a 30th holiday in Japan. 🙂

What makes the holidays special for you?

Being with the ones I love, especially Dane and just being able to use the time of Christmas and New Year to think about the year coming to an end and what I’d like for the year ahead. Oh and having a bit of a break too, you know? 😛

So that was the Christmas tag 2018! It’s taken me most of the evening to write this post and it’s because I kept getting side tracked with watching Christmas movies. 😛

So with tagging people to take part in this post… I WANT EVERYONE WHO READS IT TO TAKE PART! 😀 It’s Christmas so the more the merrier. 😛

Are you excited for Christmas? What are you most excited about? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a lovely weekend.

Two Unique Firebox Gifts You Should Buy For Her This Christmas*

I can’t believe we are a day away from being into the first week of December! I can’t believe how quick the month is already going and before we know it, it’ll be Christmas Day.

BUT have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? You might have some relatives to buy for, a best friend, someone you work with or maybe even a Secret Santa you need to find a gift for. I’m actually off shopping with one of my best friends this evening as we both have some last minute gifts to pick up.

I recently spoke to Firebox about wanting to work with them on a Christmas post and after some email exchanges I picked two items which I thought you guys may like the look of, for so many reasons.

So I thought today I would talk about the two items I was sent from Firebox, as well as why I think they’re both great Christmas present gifts for teenagers, younger and older women.

If there is one store I always go to for quirky and different gift ideas for anyone I always head to Firebox. Hey, I even buy myself stuff from there from time to time too. 😛

They have an amazing gifts for her section, as well as some unusual Christmas gifts too! The two items I chose are from the gifts for her section.

As you’re already aware, today’s post is about great gifts you can get for the girl/woman in your life and I’m going to be talking about two items today that are both different, in their own ways!

The first item I’m going to talk about is the Heart Waffle Maker*, which costs £24.99.

We love this brilliant machine a waffle lot. It’s a fact: you can’t make waffles without a waffle maker. Well, you could try, but good luck replicating their unique grid pattern and maintaining a uniform shape. With this hot pink delight, you can make up to five waffles in mere minutes from the comfort of your own kitchen. Why settle for the inferior dry ones from the shops when you could be feasting on delicious creations made your way? That’s right, get ready for Instagram worthy matcha, activated-charcoal, or rainbow waffles. Eat your heart out, Creams. Description taken from Firebox.com

You may think, “Nat what made you think a heart waffle maker was a good gift idea?” Well… Why not?! I know for a fact I don’t speak for myself when I say how much I love waffles! If there is one thing I love receiving for Christmas it’s items I can make use out of throughout the year and a waffle maker can not only be a great present for a food lover, but especially a food lover at Christmas!

As this heart waffle maker is a gorgeous pastel pink colour, this will make the ideal gift for a teenager who always holds sleepovers and wants to make yummy waffles. This is also a great gift for a couple who love food and women who love to cook. Of course anyone who has a pink theme for their kitchen will adore this pink heart waffle maker. PLUS who doesn’t want a heart shaped waffle, eh? 😛

I’ve already made loads of waffles for me and Dane with this and whilst it takes some getting used to at first, it is SO EASY to use and super easy to clean too. I plan to show how I make chicken and waffles and maybe even some chocolate waffles, so keep eyes peeled for that. 😛

I love how on the Firebox website it recommends how you can make all sorts of different waffles, including matcha, charcoal and even rainbow ones! I love the thought of making a rainbow waffle.

For just under £25 I think this would make a great gift for a teenager or someone who loves food. It’s just the perfect gift to get for a girl or woman that is hard to buy for, but who loves food.

The second item I chose and the one I was super excited to receive is the Elodie the Unicorn Light Up Umbrella*, which costs £29.99. This is also an exclusive product to Firebox!

It’s a big fat cliche but we Brits are no strangers to rain, so you can rest assured we know how to make a damn good umbrella. Sprinkle a little bit of fairy dust into the brolly machine and you get this! Elodie, our favourite unicorn, is back in the form of this perfect parasol that lights up and changes colour when in contact with water! Simply flick the little switch on the handle to illuminate the multicolour LEDs – there’s even a dimmer switch if you want romantic mood lighting for your rainy stroll. As for the liquid reactive bits, the cute little clusters of hearts and stars on take on ombre rainbow hues when in contact with water. And there’s a lot of them to go round with that 34” diameter so prepare your eyes for a full spectrum magical unicorn lightshow. Description taken from Firebox.com

I’m a massive fan of Elodie the Unicorn and I knew I had to share this wonderful thing with you guys on my blog! I’m really funny when it comes to umbrellas, as in I always like to have a unique one for whenever I need to use one. I also love this style of umbrella too as I find they’re just adorable and different. I remember when I was at college and this style of umbrella first came out in shops and markets. I fell in love and had a couple of them that I used on and off. They fast blew inside out and broke, long gone. 😛

This light up umbrella is so different though and as of yet I have never seen anything like it to date. As the description for this umbrella states, we in the UK are definitely not surprised when it rains, so why not have a glam brolly to use whenever we get any?! It chucked it down with rain earlier this week and thankfully I didn’t get soaked, thanks to my car and running from it to my workplace. 😛

Not only does this umbrella light up though with the simple push of a button by the handle, but it also has a cute unicorn face, and the gold part at the top of the umbrella resembles the unicorn horn! It also has liquid-reactive patterns all on the umbrella itself which change colour when rain water gets into contact with it. Could you honestly ask for anything cuter?!

So with all the crappy rain we get in the UK I think this light up umbrella would make a perfect gift for a girl, teenager or woman of any age group!

This would make a great gift for someone in education, especially secondary school for when it’s getting dark earlier and they have to walk home from school. Not only would the umbrella stop them getting soaked, but it would also have the lights on, which would help when crossing the road, getting around and maybe even if their friends or family are meeting them somewhere.

This umbrella also seems like such an awesome novelty for an adult too, especially if they’re like me and love anything cute and adorable like this and I know for a fact others would feel the same about it too.

Let’s not forget, mermaids and unicorns have blown up these past few years, so any unicorn lover out there would definitely love to receive this umbrella.

The one thing I will say about this umbrella is that the images on Firebox’s website don’t do it justice not just for how big it actually is, but also for how amazing the lights are on it! They’re incredibly bright and colourful, very kawaii!

I was going to talk about more items that I feel you should buy, but I’m actually going to save that for another post where I recommend gifts you should buy for the geeky girls and guys in your lives! 😛

What do you think of the items that Firebox sent me? Do you think they’re unique gifts that you could see yourself buying for someone? If so who would you buy them for and why? I want to know so make sure to let me know in the comments!

I just want a say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to Firebox for working with me. I have loved this brand for years and it has taken some massive confidence growth this year for me to built up the encouragement to email them, expressing how much I would love to work with them and why.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re ready for the weekend!

December Wish List ’18

I cannot believe we are in December now. The last month of 2018 with Christmas and New Years looming and my bloody 29th birthday to follow. Yuck getting old sucks.

I am definitely not ready for Christmas and I usually am by now! I had a very busy and expensive November and a part of me regrets spending so much monies, but at the same time we only live. YOLO! 😛

Last year in December I actually wrote two wish list posts, one in general at the start of the month and one on Christmas Eve that I would have asked Father Christmas for as a kid, as well as what I was hoping to be gifted Christmas Day. I want to know if you guys want to see this again, but this time from my teenage self? Please let me know in the comments down below! I’ve been toying with the idea and I would like to do it.

Anyway, I’ve put a list together and not going to lie, I STRUGGLED! I’ve bought so much shit lately that I really didn’t need anything else. Some stuff on here I’ve pre ordered already. xD

  • A Polar Bear In Love Vol. 4 – (link)

This is a manga I got into at the start of the year as Dane bought it for me for my birthday. We’re approaching the fourth volume now and I still love this manga so much, I could even go so far as to say it’s one of my favourites. It’s so bizarre and different, which being totally hilarious! I just love some of the quirky moments in there.

  • Pokemon Eevee Hooded Sweater – (link)

I really don’t need a new hoodie, especially as Dane has just given me one of his hoodies! This one looks really snug though and comfortable. When I showed it to Dane he commented how it reminded him of a snowboarding hoodie. This definitely shows a sign of a good hoodie for sure! 😛 This is something I’ll be keeping my eye out for in the sales. I’d probably just have it to wear to pole and hoop fitness, as well as around the house when chilling out and with my pyjamas. 😛

  • Sword Art Online Progressive Vol. 7 (link)

This is another manga I really love at the moment and it’s also a manga that doesn’t come out THAT much throughout the year, so I was quite surprised that they decided to bring out two volumes in one year! This is a manga I really enjoy and reminds me of when I first started buying manga to read

  • Lime Crime Best Of Lip Holiday Collection in Reds – (link)

I’ve always been unsure of Lime Crime products, until I picked up the Plushies (which you can read my review about here) and since then I do really want to try more of their lipsticks. These gift sets for Christmas look amazing and I’d really love to pick one up, or have one for Christmas. They have a couple of different colours from darks, reds, mauves and nudes. I love me a bit of red when it comes to lip colours, but I do also love the darks and mauves too. I think I’ll keep my eye on these for when the Boxing Day sales roll around. 😛

  • Pokemon Eevee Tamagotchi – (link)

I’ve actually pre-ordered this already! I had to, I couldn’t pass it up to be honest. 😛 Pokemon and Tamagotchi have teamed up to bring out an Eevee Tamagotchi, where you get an Eevee and can evolve it into one of it’s Eeveelutions, as well as (apparently!) a new Eeveelution, which is pretty exciting! I went for the brown Tamagotchi out of the two. This was such a good price and I’m so excited for it to come out at the start of 2019. I’m undecided whether to open it or not, we shall see. 😛

  • Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Manga Vol. 7 – (link)

This is something else I’ve pre-ordered as I LOVE this series of manga and I always try and get the latest volume without delay so I can keep up with the series. I’ve not had much manga to read in November as I read all my manga on my way to London. I’ve got manga to read on an app on my phone but it’s never the same as having a physical copy. 😛 I can’t wait for this to arrive now to read it.

  • Stuffed Water Bear – (link)

The final item on this wish list IS ADORABLE! I really want this water bear, even though I don’t know what I’d do with it. 😛 I was so tempted to pick this up when the sales were on for Black Friday, but I left it as to be honest with you I HAVE BEEN SKINT! 😛 I may look into getting this another time but at the moment it’s not a priority. BUT DAMN it’s cute isn’t it?! 😛

So that is my December favourites! Of course this doesn’t include my whole, “wish list to Father Christmas aka family” stuff. That will come Christmas Eve like last year. 😛

I was going to try and do Blogmas this year but I have decided against it. I just simply don’t have time to do it. If I’m not busy with work, I’m busy with keeping up with my usually 2-3 posts a week or I’m busy having a life.

I’m definitely going to try and do it next year. BUT throughout December please keep eyes peeled for exciting posts on my blog, including Christmas themed posts as well as some collaboration posts! 😀

What do you have on your wish lists this month? AND what posts are you excited to see on my blog? Make sure to let me know in the comments.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you had a lovely weekend.

The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane Bath Bomb – Review

CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Move over Scrooges because it’s officially less than a month until Christmas now. I don’t care how “early” it is to be talking about Christmas related stuff, I’m doing it. 😛

If there is one brand I am loving this Christmas it’s definitely The Body Shop. They’ve introduced three new scents to their Christmas range and I am LOVING THEM! There are three new scents, Berry Bon Bon, Vanilla Marshmallow and my favourite Peppermint Candy Cane.

I really want to pick up more of the range but at this moment in time I’m really skint and I’m not even halfway through my Christmas shopping yet. Meh.

When I went to London at the start of the month I popped into The Body Shop with my friend Sophi and we picked up some bits and pieces. They had some bath bombs in there and as I have fallen head over heels in love with The Body Shop’s bath bombs and bubble bars lately, I decided to buy a couple of each scent.

I recently and finally tried Peppermint Candy Cane’s bath bomb and I just knew I had to review it for your guys. As always on my blog, my reviews are honest there’s no BS here. 😛

So without further ado, let the review begin!

The one thing that bugs me the most about the bath bombs The Body Shop have brought out with the Christmas scents is that they don’t stock them online. I’ve only seen them in store and even then they fly off the shelves so quickly! When we were in the London store we had to ask if they had anymore of the Peppermint Candy Cane scent left as the shelf was empty. Then me and Sophi practically wiped the shelf clean of the other two scents.

I couldn’t wait to get home to give them all a go and the first one I decided to use is my favourite scent out of the three!

All of the bath bombs have colour schemes to match their scents as well as animals that are on the front of advent calendars. Berry Bon Bon is red with a fox, Vanilla Marshmallow is yellow with an owl and Peppermint Candy Cane is green with a deer. A lot of people are confused about whether the Berry Bon Bon bath bomb is a fox, a wolf or a raccoon. I can only assume it’s a fox as that’s the animal on the most expensive advent calendar box.

Each bath bomb costs £2.50 and you get 50g of product. The normal range of bath bombs cost £1.50 and you only get 10g. Such a bargain really when you think about it!

The character designs are all so cute, which makes these perfect for children and teenagers.

When it comes to bath bombs I usually break them in half so I get more for my money, aka Lush bath bombs. These are perfect though for just using in one go, which I really like.

In the packaging and as a whole the scent of this bath bomb isn’t in your face and strong, but it isn’t light enough that you cannot smell it.

The only way I can describe Peppermint Candy Cane is a fresh and minty scent with a warm sort of comforting smell too. Not like a fresh peppermint scent, but comforting and soft. That’s the main thing I love about this scent, it really does remind me of Christmas and I don’t feel like many places actually have peppermint scented things at this time of year. SO a massive thank you to The Body Shop for FINALLY doing it. 😛

Sadly when the bath bomb had finished fizzing and I got into the bath, I smelt NOTHING. Not a single thing and I was so disappointed. I sniffed the water, my skin, even when I finished bathing and went in and out of the bathroom I couldn’t smell anything. I don’t know what happened considering in the plastic wrap it smelt rather strong of the Peppermint Candy Cane scent. It’s to be honest, a bit shit.

I don’t even feel like this nourished my skin either, which was even more disappointing! It left a lovely pale green colour in the water, which was pretty but that’s pretty much all it was which for £2.50 is such a shame to me.

I bought two of these bath bombs and although I did wonder whether to give the second bath bomb a go to see if it was just a case of a had a dud bath bomb, I shouldn’t have to. What if I had just bought one? I’d be disappointed regardless, you know?

Sadly the only thing I really liked about this bath bomb was the way it looked and smelt BEFORE I decided to use it, which sucks.

Now if this had cost more than £2.50 I think I would complain more, but considering it didn’t break the bank I’m not surprised really. I’m just disappointed.

I feel like you would need to use this with either/or the bath foam, shower gel, body scrub, body lotion or even the body butter to feel the full effect of the peppermint scent. This in itself is annoying because as we all now, The Body Shop isn’t cheap.

I’m a bit miffed about the fact you can’t pick this up online considering the staff member in the London store told me it’s online. It’s really not.

Overall whilst this was a lovely idea I was left feeling meh about it and I just hope the other Peppermint Candy Cane bath bomb, as well as the other scents I own have a better pay off! If they do I’ll definitely update at the end of this post.

This bath bomb would be great for people with sensitive skin, children and teenagers. If you’re used to strong scented bath products like Lush and maybe even Bomb Cosmetics, then this is a no go for you.

Have you tried the Christmas bath bombs from The Body Shop? If you have, how did you get on? If not, will you give them a go? Let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a great week so far!

2018 Christmas Advent Calendars You Should Buy!

December is now less than a month away and the closer it gets to the 1st December, the more people frantically run around the shops and online for advent calendars. Whether they be chocolate, tea, beauty or even alcohol everyone is after the perfect one for Christmas, not even just for themselves.

For years now I’ve always looked out for unique and amazing calendars that appeal to me and this year I feel like I’ve seen quite a few I’m keen on. So I thought I would share them on my blog.

I don’t care if people are still thinking, “Nat! It’s too early for Christmas!” Well no not really. It’s a month until December and people usually start opening advent calendars on the 1st so…

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this post! At the time of writing I’ll pop prices too, as well as links to the product.

ADVENT

  • Baylis & Harding Beauticology Special Delivery Red Calendar – £9.99 (link)

I actually heard about this advent calendar from someone I work with and it is RIGHT up my street! I love all the scents of the products in there such as peppermint swirl, candy cane and vanilla icing. The scent range actually reminds me of what The Body Shop are bringing out this year. I always eye up the Baylis & Harding stuff at Christmas and regret not getting anything, but I think I am going to treat myself to this this year. I mean, why the hell not?! Spoiler, I’ve already bought it! 😛

  • Cath Kidston Christmas Town House Advent Calendar – £40.00 (link)

The past year I’ve really grown to love Cath Kidston, after years of wondering what the hype around it was! I’ve been eyeing up the advent calendar they’re bringing out this year and I really like the look of this one, but I put that down to all the cute alpaca stuff they have in it. You get loads of different bits and pieces in this including body lotion, lip balm, hand cream, bathing salts, cuticle cream and body scrub. I just love all the different things you get! I’ve found this really cheap online so I may have to treat myself to it to have at work or something. I’ll see. This would make an amazing gift for a teeanger, or anyone who loves Cath Kidston.

  • The Body Shop 25 Days Of The Ehchanted Deluxe Advent Calendar – £65.00 (link)

This was one of the first advent calendars I saw this year and I was so close to ordering it, BUT urgh the price. It hurts my soul. I’ve never had a beauty advent calendar before and this year I felt like going all out, but not for almost £70! This looks so good though and has a large variety of products in, perfect for anyone who is looking for new products to try, or even people who want to try The Body Shop but aren’t sure where to start. I’m not a massive fan of some of the products in all The Body Shop advent calendars but I’d gift those items to people, my mom and my best friends being the main ones, you know like little stocking fillers! I may keep my eyes peeled when these go down in price to pick them up but I just can’t justify the price.

  • Disney Snow White 12 Days Beauty Advent Calendar – £14.00 down to £7.00 (link)

I saw this advent calendar a while ago when I was bored on my lunchbreak and was after an advent calendar. I know that this is aimed at children, but it just looks so basic and simple I love it! This would be great to give to a teenager or child 12 days before Christmas and for the price you could buy loads of them too! I may have to grab one of these at some point if I still feel like getting it. The items in the calendar have a fresh apple scent. You get a nice range of products in this like hand cream, body lotion, body wash, lip balm, bath fizzers, nail file and a body puff. This is more for children and teenagers.

  • MUGLER Angel Advent Calendar – £115.00 down to £103.50 (link)

This is definitely an advent calendar I’d love to buy but fuck me the price is crazy! This is something I’ll be keeping my eye on however as it’s just such a bargain for all the goodies you get. Angel was one of the first perfumes I owned and it was my mom who bought it for me. I don’t wear Angel as much as I used to for vairous reasons, mostly because I’m trying to use up my older stuff to make way for my favourite stuff. This is only for 12 days so I’d start it more towards Christmas. I just love all the little bits you get in here and especially the fact you get two refillable bottles, one in a 15ml and one in a 25ml! I’d gift my mom the latter as I have a refill size at 25ml already. I’m praying this goes down in price more as I really would like it, even after Christmas!

  • Baileys Advent Calendar – £18.00 down to £16.20 (link)

There’s nothing wrong with an alcohol advent calendar, but not when they cost a bloody fortune! This probably isn’t worth £18.00 when you can buy a bottle of Baileys for the same money. I like the idea of opening little minatures each day to pop in your coffee and hot chocolates! I’d want to pick this up for a cheaper price though, not going to lie.

  • M&S 12 Days Of Christmas Socks – £18.00 (link)

My manager at work actually found these and they’re such a unique and cute idea! I love the idea of opening a new pair of socks for 12 days, especially Christmas socks. I’m actually tempted to buy this as a gift for someone myself, but I’m unsure. BUT if you know someone who loves a good pair of socks, you could definitely pick this up for them. My favourite pair in the box is definitely the Christmas llama ones. 😛

  • I Love Christmas 12 Days Of Christmas Advent Calendar – £12.00 (link)

This is the last gift set on this list and it’s definitely a cute one, for an affordable price. This is definitely a great advent calendar to pick up for a child or a teenager due to how cutesy it is. Not only do I love all the kawaii animals on it, but I also love what you get inside the gift set itself! You get hand cream, bath salts, bath fizzers, a body puff, nail file, lip balm, body lotion and body wash. They’re all scents that are right up my street too! For £12.00 I feel like this is a complete bargain.

So those are my picks for advent calendars! I’m sure there are so many more out there that may appeal to loads of people, but these are the ones I like the most!

There are some really awesome advent calendars out there! This is the first time I’ll be treating myself to a nice advent calender too. I’ve already bought both me and Dane Reece’s Peanut Butter advent calendars and I’m so excited to open it. 😛

Are you or have you bought your an advent calendar yet? If so which one have you bought, or which one(s) are you planning to pick up? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a great week so far

Cosy Club Christmas 2018*

There is always a first for everything and whilst it wasn’t the first time I visited Cosy Club, it was the first time I was invited to go to a food related blog event. Let me tell you now, I had such a blast and it was one of my favourite blog events to date for so many reasons! I was allowed to bring a plus one with me, so I asked Dane if he wanted to come along and he was more than happy to. I think he actually enjoyed the event more than I did and as this was his first plus one event he had an amazing time, which in turn made me happy.

The event happened on Thursday 25th October, but I didn’t realise until before the event that it was exactly two months until Christmas. Almost a week later and I still can’t believe how close to Christmas we are. Everyone is starting to think about what gifts to buy their loved ones, which cards they want to buy to send out and especially what food and where they want to eat it come Christmas Day.

BUT have you sorted out your work Christmas party, or even a party for you and your friends? It’s starting to slowly come to the time where people start asking around their workplaces and friends for availability, as well as where people may want to go for food. Cosy Club may just be the place for you, whether you’re looking for somewhere for work or even just for a massive Christmas party for you and your friends.

As I mentioned Cosy Club in Coventry invited me as well as some other bloggers to try out their Christmas menu and hear about how they’re going to make your Christmas special and let me tell you, they made me really excited for Christmas.

I’m going to talk about the menu and all the glorious food first, then I’ll mention prices, dates to book etc. SO get yourself a hot drink, or maybe even a snack as this is going to end up making you hungry and you’ll definitely need something to munch on whilst you read. 😛

Cosy Club have a set menu for their seriously glorious Christmas menu this year which will run between 22nd November until 24th December. The set menu consists of 3 courses for £27.95 per person. If you book early enough on certain dates you’ll save 15% off food! I really think the price is so worth the money for all the great food you get, as well as how lovely the Cosy Club is as a whole.

You can view the menu online here and book here. You don’t need to pre-order your food, but you do need to pre-order your drinks! This means when you arrived all your drinks will be ready on the table for you to get stuck into. With the food you order that on the night, which I love! Most places want you to pre-order what everyone wants and I have always hated this for so many reasons, the main one being I always end up changing my mind on the night.

I’d already had a look at the Christmas menu before heading to the event to have a look and see what was in store for both me and Dane. I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to eat so I decided I would have a thorough look at the menu when I arrived at Cosy Club.

The staff were all so welcoming and friendly! The two members of staff who looked after us all throughout the night were amazing and approachable for any questions we had, as well as recommending food and drink to us both. The two guys who served us were the manager Lubos and Luke, so I want to say a massive thank you to them both for being such great hosts!

On arrival we were given a moment to sit down and get comfortable before being offered drinks that you would be offered if you booked a Christmas meal there. I went for a glass of prosecco and Dane went for a glass of coke, sadly he was driving. The other two drinks on offer on arrival are mulled wine and mulled cider.

We had a good look over the menu and we didn’t realise until we looked at the menu in the restaurant that the starter is a sharing platter. We just thought that you picked one of the starters.

The sharing platter to start contains a selection of six different dishes, which you would usually share between four people, but we had one to share between the two of us! After being told about the dishes we would get on the sharing platter, we were asked what we wanted to order for our mains and dessert. We were given loads of recommendations on dishes to try and advised to pick a different dish from each other so we could try a bit of each others, which me and Dane do all the time anyway! Such a good idea though and it’s something I always recommend people to do. I’ll go into which main and pudding we ordered when I talk about those.

For now though, I’ll talk about the sharing platter to start. As I mentioned you get six different dishes, three are vegetarian and one is vegan. There are also some gluten free dishes in there too, but I’ll talk about them as and when.

The sharing platter was HUGE and I couldn’t believe how much variety you get on the platter itself. We tried stuff in the order of how it’s set out on the menu so we knew what we were having and such. I won’t go into too much detail about these as I don’t want to bore you. 😛

Of course if you are vegetarian, vegan or gluten free they will change the sharing platters to suit yourself! When you book you just need to let them know and they can sort out some alternatives for you. Sadly I can’t remember what alternatives they told me, but I remember it sounded really good!

Smoked Salmon Blinis – with lemon & chive crème fraîche and baby rocket.

Oh man these were so cute in size but oh so yummy at the same time! I love salmon so I knew I would love this. They’re a perfect size, but if I was ever given enough of these I’d just eat them all. They’re so moreish. You get four of these on the sharing platter, so one each if there are four people sharing, therefore me and Dane have two each. This was definitely enough for us both!

Cumberland Pigs in Blankets – with a sticky mulled cider glaze.

Me and Dane were really excited about these and spoke about them whilst walking to Cosy Club. We’re a sucker for pigs in blankets at home and the fact they have the sticky glaze just won us over! These were amazing and as there were four we were able to have two each. I could have just eaten a massive bowl of them. Pigs in blankets really do remind me of Christmas but the idea of them in the sticky mulled cider glaze is such a genius idea! I may just have to try and do this myself for Christmas Day. This was Dane’s favourite dish.

Halloumi & Sweetcorn Bites – with chipotle sweet chilli jam (vegetarian & gluten free).

This was the first vegetarian and gluten free dish we tried and it was such a perfect comfort snack! I love stuff like this and I love halloumi, especially fried and it worked so well alongside the sweetcorn in these bites. We had one of these each and they were quite big in all honesty. Sadly I don’t recall there being a chipotle sweet chilli jam with it, unless it was dipped into it and coated etc. Either way we really enjoyed these and I could totally eat them all year around as a comfort food.

Slow-cooked Pork Belly Bites – with sticky five spice & honey (gluten free).

This was definitely my favourite dish out of the six and I could have just eaten it over and over again! It reminded me of pork belly I’ve eaten in the past from Chinese and Japanese restaurants and as friends, family and even readers will know, I’m a sucker for Asian food. You got one each of the pork belly and I wish there had been more as I just enjoyed it that much. They were sweet and spicy in taste and so soft and succulent, it just gave me happy memories, as sad and as weird as that sounds. 😛

Baked Camembert – with olive oil toasted sourdough soldiers and fig & date chutney (vegetarian, gluten free option available).

This was sadly mine and Dane’s least favourite part of the platter and that is purely because I’m not a fan of Camembert and Dane just didn’t quite like this one. In all honesty I’d never really tried Camembert until that evening and I don’t feel like I need to try it again, it just isn’t for me. It was baked lovely and was really soft and gooey, which was perfect for dunking the sourdough soldiers into, which tasted AMAZING! I loved the taste of these and it did compliment the Camembert really well, but sadly that wasn’t for me. Like the bites, I don’t recall there being a fig and date chutney, but that didn’t bother me as we aren’t a fan of chutney anyway! This was far too much Camembert for just us two (not that I’m complaining about that! :P), so between four people it would be perfect. I also love that there is a gluten free option for this.

Mushroom, Tarragon & Chestnut Pâté – with olive oil toasted sourdough (vegan, contains nuts, gluten free option available).

This was the last part of the platter and was one I wasn’t actually going to try. I love pate BUT I hate mushrooms, which put me off trying it. Dane tried it before me and said how lovely it was and that it didn’t taste like it even had mushrooms in, he dislikes mushrooms just as much as I do by the way! I tried a little of his and decided to have my own serving. The pate didn’t taste at all of mushroom and if anything it reminded both me and Dane of sun dried tomatoes, which I really like. We had two pieces of sourdough to put the pate on, but I feel like we could have done with more as most of the pate was left. However, I understand if there were four people it would be eaten up. I did feel like what we had was enough for us both, I guess I just felt bad for wasting food, you know?

Stuffed, we were ready for our mains but not before we ordered some more drinks! I was really pacing myself with my prosecco, as I’m not a massive fan of it. I decided to try one of the cocktails on the Christmas menu which is being served as pitchers. This was the cherry bakewell cocktail and I LOVED it so much, it has for sure fast become one of my favourite things. They do this all year around so I would be more than happy to go to Cosy Club in future purely to drink this!

Cherry Bakewell – Take cherry juice & Amaretto almond liqueur, gently mix with Ron Barcelo rum, add a drop of caramel syrup to sweeten & bake (or rather shake) then garnish with a cherry (£22.95 for a pitcher).

As Dane wasn’t driving the manager recommended Dane try a mocktail and handed him the drinks menu. Dane went for St Clements, which at first he wasn’t keen on due to the bitter lemon in there but it grew on him eventually.

St Clements – Freshly squeezed oranges and Fever-Tree Bitter Lemon with a hint of Angostura bitters.

They also do the English Garden cocktail pitcher (A delightful mix of all things English; Hendrick’s gin, pressed apple juice & elderflower over ice, finished with cucumber. Just the ticket.) which you can get throughout the year from their cocktail menu. I didn’t try this one as it isn’t really up my street, but it sound so refreshing and perfect for any gin lover!

Alongside the two cocktail pitchers they also offer a mocktail pitcher called Pink Lemonade (Lemonade, pomegranate, lemon juice and ginger ale over a strawberry muddle), which like the cocktail pitchers is available all year around. I really wanted to try this one but by the end of the night I was just too stuffed from food and liquids. I know some of the girls at the event tried it though and said how lovely it was. I’ll definitely try this in the future though.

We were given a while after this to chat with the other bloggers who were there, as well as have a chat about stuff in general and all the food we’d just eaten and thoroughly enjoyed. Most of the bloggers at the event were girls who I know through Coventry Bloggers and it was lovely to see so many people I know, as well as meeting some for the first time!

With the main menu you have six dishes to choose from and it was so hard to pick what I wanted but I had been thinking about it throughout the day after having a look at the menu. I was torn between what I went for and what Dane went for and I was sort of glad that Dane went for what he did, so I could go for what I wanted.

Slow-Roasted Outdoor Bred Pork Belly – with chestnut & herb sausage stuffing, dauphinoise potatoes, braised red cabbage, watercress and a red wine gravy (gluten free and contains nuts).

Oh man I could not believe the portion size when this came out to me! I’m a sucker for pork belly, as you may have guessed earlier when I was talking about the starters and when I read that you got dauphinoise potatoes with it, I just knew this would be my choice. The pork belly was in a swirl, which I thought was really cool and just something different and the size of the dauphinoise potatoes was crazy! I could not finish this, I was so stuffed and I think I only ate half of the dauphinoise potatoes. The pork belly was so juicy to eat and usually I hate eating the fat from pork belly, but the fat was just so soft and melted in your mouth I couldn’t NOT eat it. The flavouring was lovely and to my delight it was different from the pork belly that you get on the sharing platter. I worried they would be the same and whilst I loved the platter pork belly, I didn’t want it twice. So yeah I loved that. I recently made my own dauphinoise potatoes and they were so lovely, but not as good as Cosy Club’s. These were so buttery and tasty to eat, I could have just eaten that so I was quite sad that I couldn’t finish those. The red wine gravy was really good and I couldn’t get enough of it, if anything I wish I’d had more as I love gravy. The only part of my main I disliked was the red cabbage, but that’s because I don’t like it. It looked lovely and soft and I can only imagine how perfect it will work with the whole dish. I seriously loved what I chose and was so glad I picked it.

Norfolk Turkey & Smoked Bacon Pie – with pigs in blankets, creamy mash, roasted maple-glazed carrots & parsnips, sprouts with a sage & chestnut butter gravy (contains nuts).

This was the main that Dane went for and it was something I was tempted to have myself, but I decided against it as I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. It’s basically an alternative Christmas dinner, which most places will offer for Christmas meals. I had one myself last year during a friends Christmas dinner but it just reminded me of your last school dinner before you break up for Christmas. I tried some of the pie Dane had and it was really good and definitely something different. Dane said how the pie was doughy, just how he likes it but how he knows of people who dislike that. He also commented how the sauce was creamy and complimented the turkey and bacon really well. Although it doesn’t state which sauce it is inside of the pie, I have a feeling it was bread sauce. The pie contained turkey and what looked like leeks, so for that alone I was glad I didn’t order it, as I’m not the biggest fan of them myself. The parsnips were maple glazed and so delicious! Dane gave me quite a few to have as I enjoyed the one he gave me to try so much. We assume that it wasn’t in the pie, but sadly there weren’t any pigs in blankets with this main, which we didn’t realise until now whilst I’ve been writing the post! I don’t think Dane missed them due to having them in the sharing platter. He also commented how it states the mash is creamy, when his mash was lumpy. Whilst this didn’t bother him, he did expect it to not have lumps.

As I mentioned, we were both far too full to finish off our food and I can only imagine if we had of forced ourselves to finish, we’d have had no room for pudding and that was something both me and Dane were excited for!

Before the main arrived Dane ordered himself another mocktail, which he loved so much he ordered another one before pudding arrived too! I can understand why he loved it though, it was amazing. It was Bucking Mule – All the flavour of your favourite cocktail, without the fuzzy buzz or morning regret, with a kick from ginger ale, blood orange & fresh lime. I tried it and it reminded me of something and when Dane suggested Fruit Pastilles, he was right! It tasted just like them! I’d love to make these ourselves come Christmas Day for Dane.

Pudding came out quite quickly, which we both liked as we were pretty excited for them. I think I was more excited for what Dane picked over what I chose.

Limoncello Cheesecake – with raspberry coulis and crushed meringue (vegetarian).

I love a good cheesecake, but man this cheesecake was something else and sadly I couldn’t finish it and that alone made me feel so sad. This was such a lovely tarte lemon cheesecake was a really good biscuit base and melt in your mouth meringue. Dane actually tried the meringue before I did, which I didn’t mind as I kept scoffing bits of his pudding. As I mentioned the meringue was really soft and melted in your mouth, I’m not a massive fan of meringue so the fact that I loved this is a definitely a plus. The raspberry coulis and lemon worked so well together and I really enjoyed it, it just added a little something to the cheesecake. It was just perfect and such a lovely light option for after the sharing platter and main. Dane now wishes he’d had what I had!

Chocolate Brownie & Cinder Toffee Trifle – with chocolate fudge sauce & salted caramel cream (vegetarian & gluten free).

Okay I loved my pudding but bloody hell Dane’s choice of pudding was the dogs I loved it so much, even though I tried just a small portion of it! This was the pudding I was going to get, but as Dane wanted it I knew I’d be able to try it. I love how it came in a little clear mug, it’s so adorable. The best part of this little trifle was the salted caramel cream, I’m a massive sucker for anything salted caramel flavoured so I knew I would love that. The trifle itself is just perfect and it’s made me want to make a chocolate trifle sooner rather than later! I’ve always associated trifle with my family as they always made one, but personally I cannot stand trifle, so a chocolate option is good. I may just have been inspired to make a chocolate trifle now for my family for Boxing Day. Now thinking about it, I don’t at all regret the dessert I chose as I really loved the lemon cheesecake.

As I mentioned, I couldn’t finish off my pudding, which really saddened me as I really wanted to. We were offered coffee after our puddings but we were so full after all the food and drink we just couldn’t stomach it. If anything I just made sure to have plenty of water to wash everything down.

We were brought over some mince pies to finish off the meal, but not only were we too stuffed to eat any but we’re not big fans of mince pies, so sadly they were left behind.

When we all felt ready to get up me and the Coventry Bloggers decided to get a big group photo (or two) of us altogether! It was lovely to be honest and I love the photos we all got together.

From L-R we have myself, Gemma from Just Gem, Lizzie from Hello Lizzie Bee, Emma from How To Emma, Emily from Drained Beauty and Isobel from Fashionista Chic. I love these girls and they’re all such beauties and lovely to talk to whenever they’re at the same events as myself and even online.

After a bit of a natter about the food and drink, as well as when we’ll all see each other next it was time to go home! Me and Dane were shattered, but that didn’t stop him from going to a midnight launch for a game and stay up a few hours to play it. 😛

We also left the event with some goodie bags which contained some adorable Christmas tree decorations, candy canes, shortbread biscuits in a cute little bag as well as leaflets and menus about their Christmas and New Years menu!

I have to say I had such a blast at the Cosy Club in Coventry and I especially loved how friendly everyone was and the atmosphere. The first time I went to Cosy Club it was during the Coventry German Market a couple of years ago. Me, Dane, my best friend Gabriella and our friends Lee and Sam went and it was amazing. The atmosphere is still just as comforting and well cosy as it was back then and I love it.

Me and Dane are already contemplating visiting Cosy Club again during the next few months as a rest stop from Christmas shopping and I might even suggest going for my birthday after the New Year!

What do you think of the Cosy Club and their amazing offers for Christmas? Do you think you’d book there for work or even friends and family? If so what would you pick to eat for your main and pudding? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Thank you again to the Cosy Club for inviting me to this amazing event in Coventry! I had such an amazing time and thanks for getting me so excited for Christmas this year.

Until next time all, I hope you’ve had a great weekend and great start to the week.

Christmas Wish List To Father Christmas – Now & Then

This is the post I mentioned at the start of the month that I was looking forward to doing! I decided that for this year I wouldn’t just do my normal Christmas wish list at the start of December and decided that I would do it on Christmas Eve as a sort of, “Father Christmas I’ve been good please bring me this and that and that!”

But I then changed my mind and had an even better idea! I decided as well as doing my Christmas wish list for this year, I would do one as I would have when I was 7 years old! The nostalgic feels will be all over the start of this post and I really hope you guys enjoy reading it, as much as I had putting it all together!

  • Happy Monday Store INU INU T-Shirt – £15.23 (link)

I discovered this brand through a girl on Instagram who is all Japanese themed. Basically into the shizzle I’m into! She got sent this t-shirt and I fell in love with it! It’s got a cute little shiba on it, but he’s getting his face squished and pulled and AHH SO DAMN CUTE! I’m really hoping that Dane has bought me this for Christmas, otherwise I’ll be ordering it after my birthday. 😛

  • Firebox My Neighbour Slippers – £29.99 (link)

I’m always down with anything that will help me feel all warm and snuggly in my own home! I live for putting my pajamas and slippers on as soon as I get home from work, and who can go wrong with wearing Totoro slippers?! These look so amazing and they’re not cheap, no but come on… They’re Studio Ghibli, they aren’t going to be! 😛

  • Good Smile Company Nendoroid Yuri!!! On Ice Yuri Katsuki – £44.95 (link)

I didn’t have a clue what Nendoroid to add to my Christmas wish list, but I thought Yuri Katsuki from Yuri!!! On Ice would be a good one to add for sure. This is a Nendoroid I really hope Dane has bought me for Christmas he’s gorgeous and I really want to get him and Viktor to put with our collection. Any other Nendoroid’s I want are probably really old and very rare ones. In all fairness though, I don’t care which Nendoroid(s) I get from Dane for Christmas, I’ll be happy with any!

  • Your Name Manga Vol. 2 – £7.98 (link)
  • Your Name Collector’s Edition Steelbook Blu-ray – £24.99 (link)

I LOVED Your Name so much when me and Dane went to watch it in the cinema so I would love to not only get the collector’s edition blu-ray for Christmas, but I really want volume 2 of the manga to read! I picked up volume 1 in the summer when it came out and it’s so good. If you loved the anime, then you will probably love the manga even more! I also really want the Your Name Nendoroid’s too! 😛

  • Pokemon Indigo League Season 1 Blu-ray – £49.99 (link)

As regular readers will know (or anyone to be fair…) I am a MASSIVE Pokemon fan and I remember back in the day waking up early to catch the weeks episode of Pokemon on SM:TV Live. Earlier this year I binge watched all of the episodes of Pokemon Indigo League on Netflix. When I saw that this was coming out, I was super excited and it was one of the first items added to my Christmas wish list! I really hope I get this so me and Dane can binge watch it whilst I’m off work over Christmas.

  • Your Lie In April Part 2 Blu-ray – £41.09 (link)

This is an anime I fell in love with this time last year. Dane bought me part 1 on blu-ray for my birthday this year and back in April part 2 came out. it’s a limited edition set and of course I NEED part 2 to add to my collection. Again, I hope I get this so me and Dane can watch it all together. I haven’t actually finished watching this anime, but I’ve read all of the manga. It’s amazing but really quite sad.

  • A Silent Voice Blu-ray – £29.99 (link)

ANOTHER ANIME BLU-RAY! Oh man, I’m so sorry! 😛 I had so many blu-rays on my wish list, all anime related! This was my favourite film of this year and is one I was so stoked to go and see and I left the cinema feeling great. I bought the whole manga series after and read them all so quickly. Again, it’s by far one of my favourite manga series as well as anime films. Dane recently wanted to watch this again in dubbed, as we saw it subbed in the cinema. A part of me hopes I have the collectors edition of this for Christmas. I can see me binge watching this loads if I get it.

  • Pokemon Center Vulpix’s Crystal Season Purse/Wallet – £37.99 (link)

This is a wallet I regret not asking YY Kawaii to pick up from Japan for me back in October when she was out there! I got one thing from that collection, that being a notebook. This wallet is so damn cute and I could imagine it getting just as much attention as my Loungefly Pokemon handbag. I doubt very much that I’ll get this for Christmas and with that I doubt I’d be missing out. 😛

  • Studio Ghibli Spirited Away Haku Chopsticks – £10.78 (link)

I LOVE using chopsticks and whenever I get the chance to use them, I do. I have 2 pairs my friend Sophi (HEY! :D) gifted me over the past couple of years and they’re amazing! When Dane asked me to look for some little present ideas, I found these Haku chopsticks. Haku makes me happy, merch especially, as well as artwork so I would be so stoked to use chopsticks with him on too!

  • Studio Ghibli Spirited Away No Face Sweater – £24.99 (link)

Another Studio Ghibli item, but whatever! 😛 Truffle Shuffle are really on it right now with the Studio Ghibli merch and this and the Totoro sweater they’ve brought out are amazing. I would love this to snuggle up in with shorts and my Docs! I’d love them to bring out a Haku one but I doubt they will. If I got this I’d totally wear it for New Years Eve!

  • Lush The Man On The Moon Gift Set – £44.95 (link)

Finally we have my last Christmas wish list item on here and of course it has to be a bit of Lush! 😛 Dane asks me every year to find a gift set or two from Lush that I like the look of, one for him to possibly get and one for his parents to possibly get. I linked quite a few for him and sadly this isn’t one he would accept due to the price. BUT it’s the one I actually really, REALLY loved and wanted! First of all I love the re-usable tin, as well as all the night time themed products inside, which I’d love to use on pamper evenings and weekends. It also contains quite a lot of items I’ve never tried before either! If I don’t get this for Christmas I’ll try and get some in the Boxing Day sale.

Now that I’ve done my actual wish list for “Father Christmas” this year (Father Christmas being Dane pretty much! :P) it’s time to go back in time to what I would have asked for Christmas 20 years ago when I was seven years old. 🙂

Just a little disclaimer though, I don’t think all of these came out in 1997, some may be 1996 and later but meh I remember receiving these over Christmas… You get the idea! 😛

  • Loveable Bears.

These were cute little bear keyrings that came in different colours and scents! I can’t remember which I had to be honest, I have a feeling I had mint and strawberry. I know I had 2! They came with little bottles and if they cried you would feed them. They were like little Tamagotchi’s and were so adorable and fun to have on your backpack. Not so fun and adorable if they cried though!

  • Barbie & Ginger Doll.

This was one of my favourite Barbie’s, for so many reasons. First of all, look how cute and fluffy Barbie’s golden retriever Ginger looks! Second of all, it moves and third of all Barbie rides a skateboard, which Ginger helps her to achieve. As a kid this was just all kinds of wonderful to me and I remember playing with it all Christmas Day and onwards.

  • Doodle Bear Pets.

I remember getting a Doodle Bear when they first came out and I loved writing and drawing all over it, only for my mom to wash it so I could have myself a blank canvas all over again. I remember seeing the Doodle Bear Dog and I pleaded with Father Christmas to get it for me, which he obviously did! 😛 I never drew on it though to be honest, I loved it too much to be honest to, “ruin” it.

  • Pocahontas Braided Beauty Doll.

This was definitely one of my favourite dolls, EVER! The first film I saw in the cinema was Pocahontas and I was in love with that film, and it’s still one of my favourite Disney films to date, especially my favourite Disney Princess. I never even knew this doll existed until Father Christmas gave it to me. I was in love! Not only did it come with a Pocahontas doll, but of course it also came with a Meeko who would braid yours and her hair. What else could a girl ask for? 😛

  • Baby Born Doll.

This was one of the baby dolls that really opened up the market for the future of dolls like this. It would eat the “baby food” you gave it and poop it out, pee the “milk” you would feed it and even cry “real tears”! It was a hit with kids alike and I was so excited to open mine on Christmas Day! That doll really did last ages and I loved it so much. Due to it peeing and pooping so much you would constantly have to put nappies on it to catch all of that, or at least some washable type knickers. Mine broke after a couple of years and the water you could give it as “milk” would leak out of it’s arm and leg joints. I loved that doll though, so damn much!

  • Home Alone Talkboy.

Finally we have the one toy every kid wanted, as well as teenagers at the time I’m sure! I remember being gifted one of these after 1997 (I think anyway…) but I just had to mention it here! I remember watching Home Alone 2 and not really thinking, “oh man I want that recording thing he has!” but when I got one I loved it! I didn’t realise until researching the toys to add to this post that this was actually made because it was in Home Alone 2! It wasn’t a toy until after that movie, how cool is that?! It was just a prop and because loads of fans asked about it, they made it. What legends!

Oh man I have to be honest and say this is one of my favourite posts I’ve done in a long time, purely because of remembering some of my favourite toys from Christmases years ago. I can’t believe I was seven 20 years ago! That makes me feel hella old. 😛

Well it’s Christmas Eve, I hope you’re all ready for tomorrow to spend a lovely day with your loved ones. I hope if you have children they get everything they wanted and wished for from Father Christmas.

But I’ve said it many times over the years and I’ll say it again, don’t forget that Christmas isn’t a time that everyone is happy. It’s also one the worst days of the year for people with mental health. If you know someone who needs support this time of year, please support them if you can. If you’re someone who isn’t feeling their best Christmas Day, please seek support, whether it be from friends and family, or even Samaritans. I’ve been depressed over the Christmas period and it’s really crippling, especially when it’s that time of year when you’re meant to be “okay”.

I’ll leave all the links and numbers down below for anyone who needs to reach out and get support this Christmas. Also, if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m always willing to listen and support. You can find me over @maybeecoffee on Twitter.
