There Might Be Coffee – 2016 Review

Now this is something I have never done before because I never thought anything special had ever happened to my blog before for me to warrant writing this type of post. However 2016 was the best my blog has been to date and I am so fucking proud of that.

I also saw that The Mini Mermaid had written something like this so she inspired me to do this too.

From having a look at my stats I discovered that the views of my blog in 2016 more than doubled in comparison to 2015! WOW!

Views – 18,683
Visitors – 12,608

Views – 39,951
Visitors – 30,987

Top 5 posts of 2016:

Lancome Juicy Shaker Lip Gloss in Berry In Love Review – 1,866

Lush Intergalactic Bath Bomb Review – 1,649

Lush Christmas 2016 – 1,351

I’m not going to lie when I say I am a tad disappointed that not more of my varied posts weren’t on here… But meh I can’t complain! To be honest I am known for my lip product reviews, as well as Lush reviews as well so these seem apt to be fair.

Since me starting There Might Be Coffee in 2011 my blog has grown and here is how much.

I have written 597 posts.

I have had 91,224 views.

I have had 64,427 visitors.

Finally my best views ever were on the 13th September 2016 with an amazing 597 views on my blog! The post that was live on my blog that day was Big Beauty haul.

So what would I change about my blog in 2017?

I would love to attend more events to be honest! I loved attending all the events that I did in 2016 and it was lovely to meet some amazing bloggers along the way.

I would also love to write more reviews and start doing my look book posts again as I really miss doing those.

To be honest towards the end of 2016 my blog wasn’t as active and posts weren’t being written and published as often as I wanted them to be. Why? Well I work in retail/hospitality and with that comes working all over Christmas and dealing with people getting ready for “the most wonderful time of the year” (didn’t just sing that as I typed it…) so as soon as I came home from work I would be shattered and just want to eat, order presents online, wrap presents, read, play games and chill out.

I have noticed since moving into the house that when I lived at home the first thing I would do other than get changed into my pajamas was turn my laptop on. I don’t do that when I get home from work in my house. I still get changed into my pajamas but more often than not I’ll start doing some housework. My laptop gets put on a back shelf and it’s because I have better things to do now and as boring as I sound, more adult matters.

However I am going to try my hardest in 2017 to keep my blog updated and posts published as often as I can because I genuinely missed writing throughout November and December.

I now have a daily journal I use to write down blog ideas and when I’ll be writing them up etc. I also intend to use a notebook to write blog posts in whenever I don’t get the chance to get on my laptop to type up ideas etc.

What kind of posts would you like me to write in the future? Once a month I might pop a little voting panel up on my Twitter so you can go and vote.

Until next time all take care and I hope you’re having a lovely week so far.

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Black Cherry Tart – Review

I write so many bloody reviews lately! Before I would hardly write any, and now they’re coming out of my ears. Alas I have a review for you today, and yes it’s another lip product. This is an excited review for me today mind as it’s a beauty brand I have been so excited to try for years, and now I FINALLY have the chance to give them a go. As you’ll have already gathered from the title, I’m going to  be talking about NYX today.

NYX has been around for years… Over the pond in the states, where it was founded. It finally hit the UK around Christmas time with Boots having it on offer on their website. More recently however they decided to start moving it into stores, which is deadly for me considering there is a Boots down the road from where I work, and they have a HUGE NYX stand in there.

I have so far bought two products so far, the NYX Butter Gloss in shade Red Velvet, and this what I’ll be talking about today, NYX Intense Butter Gloss in shade Black Cherry Tart.

This was one of the first products I swatched on the back of my hand. I am a complete magpie with purple lip shades lately and I honestly don’t know why! It’s a gorgeous dark purple, near black shade and is described as, “deep vamp purple”.

The gloss itself is just as the name of it describes, like butter. It isn’t sticky at all, which I really love with lip glosses. It goes on really easily and creamy, this is probably one of my favourite lip gloss formulas I have come across to date.

Another thing I noticed with this is the scent. It smells just like a cherry tart! You can’t really taste it when it’s on the lips, but you can smell it a little. If you’re not a fan of scented lip products then this might not be for you, but it isn’t a strong scent anyway so I can’t see sensitive noses having a problem with it.

I have a liquid lipstick just like this by Give Me Glow Cosmetics called Bad Gal, you can read my review on that here!

The applicator for this is your usual doe foot but this one is a bit longer and flatter than your usual ones. This gives you a precise line when lining your lips and feels comfortable on the lips. I use a lip liner with this lip gloss to create a perfect defined line, as well as give it some extra staying power.

I’ve worn it with and without the lip liner underneath for work, as well as days out and about and whilst it looks great either way, I do prefer with the lip liner for staying power.

Of course, as I always do I post some pictures of me wearing said product. I don’t often state this, but I am yellow toned, so you can get a good idea how this may or may not look on yourself.

So what do I think of this lip gloss overall? I absolutely love it! I won’t lie, when I swatched this on the back of my hand in Boots I thought it was the perfect dark purple shade, but when I put it on my lips I was worried I had bought a shade too dark for me… However, I am one for bold shades and I continued to rock this until I was fully comfortable with it! I have had many compliments on it, as well as people commenting on how dark it is, but in a nice way.

I love experimenting with dark lip shades, and this one is one I have loved to play and test out over the past couple of weeks of owning it. If you wish to try dark shades out I would highly recommend these butter lip glosses, whether they’re the normal ones, or the intense ones. You can pat them on to create a lighter shade, or even do an opaque look with them.

If you fancy giving these a go yourself you can pick them up in some Boots stores that now have NYX stands, as well as online. They cost £5.50 each and come in 13 different shades, including Black Cherry Tart which is the shade I bought.

So, will you be giving these a go? If so which shade(s) are you interested in picking up? Hey, do you already own one of the intense butter glosses? If so which one(s)?

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’ve had a lovely week, and have just as good a weekend and bank holiday!

Give Me Glow Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Bad Gal – Review

As regular readers of my blog will know, I LOVE liquid lipsticks and since towards the end of 2015 I have started to grow myself a nice little collection… Mostly Jeffree Star Cosmetics to be honest, with the odd one or two different ones. One of these including my newest purchase from Give Me Glow Cosmetics.

Give Me Glow Cosmetics is an American cosmetics company who started out on Etsy, but recently created their own store online. Woohoo! Due to this their products have had a new design to them, as well as loads more shades! They mostly focus on creating duplicates for liquid lipsticks on the market at the moment such as Jeffree Star Cosmetics, and Kylie Jenner Cosmetics, two of the hottest liquid lipstick creators right now.

I have previously ordered from Give Me Glow but due to the two liquid lipsticks I purchased being from bad batches, I was given this liquid lipstick as a replacement for them both, which was lovely of Brandy, the owner of Give Me Glow.

So after using this for a week and falling head over heels in love with it, I just knew I had to review it. Here is my review of Bad Gal.

Bad Gal is a beautiful dark purple shade, which was inspired by an image of Rihanna. It’s described by Give Me Glow as “deep vampy cranberry purple”, which is pretty accurate. It is a very risque colour to say the least, and one many people wouldn’t have the balls to wear. I won’t lie after it arrived at my house I did gulp in fear of wearing it out… I’ll talk that a bit more later however.

The tube is a little bigger than the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks, sadly I wasn’t able to get a picture for comparison at the time as I was at Dane’s house.

The applicator is something I actually really like! I thought I was going to dislike it due to being used to the doe foot applicator that my Jeffree Star and Aromi liquid lipsticks have. Instead this one is a paddle applicator, which makes it a little bit more flat, and also means that there is more control when applying this product to the line of the lip. Even though I use a lip liner before applying liquid lipsticks anyway.

The applicator also picks up plenty of product so I don’t feel the need to keep dipping back into the tube to grab more product for a full coverage.

The product itself is amazing! It’s pigmented to the max, and lasts ages! This is just a stroke of the colour, and you can just see how great it is on my hand. I did a couple of pictures as I wanted to attempt to show how it looks in the light, but it looks good either way!

I wore this out for an evening of drinks with Dane and some of our friends and it didn’t transfer once, even after loads of Disaronno and cokes. 😛 However it didn’t last as long before we went out during eating Chinese, but this is due to the oil in the food, which is a no no when it comes to liquid lipsticks. This is the norm, so don’t be surprised if this happens with ANY liquid lipstick.

I’m not sure if it’s due to the fact I didn’t remove with an oil based make up remover (I used a baby wipe…) or because of how pigmented and dark the shade is, but this stained my lips the next day. I wasn’t fussed about that though to be honest. I have the same issue with Masochist by Jeffree Star Cosmetics (review here) so it’s the norm for me. It shows is a good colour and formula in my eyes!

I found re-applying this was at times a bit tricky, and I’m not sure if it was due to me eating oily food, but the middle of my lower lip went a little patchy after re-applying, but I also have a feeling this was due to rubbing my lips whilst it was still dry. I left my mouth open slight and it dried perfectly. I had no issues after this.

With all my liquid lipsticks I do the kiss test, which worked! I gave my boyfriend kisses and had no product come off! YAY! This is always a thumbs up for me.

As I always do, here’s some pictures of my mug showing off Bad Gal!

I said earlier I would briefly cover how I felt wearing such a bold shade out and about… I’m pretty sure I had people staring at me in the pub… But you know what? I don’t care! It takes quite a lot of guts to wear a shade like this, feel comfortable, and actually pull it off. I like to think that I can pull of shades like this. I can’t wear nudes, they don’t suit me, and I don’t like them. Dark shades however I feel 100% comfortable in, and personally I feel they suit me perfectly.

I really want to wear this for work, but due to how dark it is I don’t know if I can get away with it or not… I’ll have to try it one day and see how I get on! 😛

Overall I really love this formula! I probably won’t buy another lipstick from Give Me Glow for a while for various reasons, which aren’t anything to do with the product. The first one being that I need to save money, and the second that the postage isn’t exactly cheap… Which isn’t the sellers fault at all! If they release any shades soon that I feel I NEED in my life, then I may pick a couple up at once to save on postage.

For a newish indie liquid lipstick brand they are amazing, and they customer service was perfect when I had issues with two of my liquid lipsticks too. I would highly recommend them if you want a duplicate of a shade, or something a little different! Each shade costs $13.25 (roughly £9.21), and I paid $15.85 (roughly £11.01) so the postage actually cost more than the liquid lipstick! Bit crap really, but honestly these are worth it!

Do you like the look of Give Me Glow Cosmetics? If so, which shades do you have your eye on? Would you be risque and wear Bad Gal out? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time all take care.
