New Year, Same Nerd

Happy New Year everyone! It is now the first day of 2016 and it’s so weird how quickly 2015 flew by. I am glad about that mind, as for the majority 2015 was a shit year. A really shit year. My mental health wasn’t good, I was stressed out about university, and work, and due to all of those things my money was scarce, VERY scarce. As well as that some other things happened family wise, which weren’t great, but I won’t go into detail about those.

There were some great things that happened in 2015 though. After years of wanting to go, I finally got the chance to go to London with my boyfriend. We went for Hyper Japan, The Book of Mormon, and most of all as a belated anniversary weekend away. It was wonderful, and although I wished we could have stayed longer, it has just made me want to go to London again this year. Which I hope to do soon!

As well as that, I went on holiday twice to Fuerteventura. The first time in January with my parents and my boyfriend, and then again in November/December with my dad. Both times were amazing, and it was great to go back to my second home after 10 years away from it.

I accomplished a lot of things throughout the year, both big things, and small. I finally finished my masters and passed, graduating the day before I flew off for my second holiday. I also bagged myself a new job in November, and I’ve been working there nearly a month now. I love it so much! I bought myself a new car, my second car, and I love it. I finally drove on the motorway, and regularly drove to university in Cheltenham and back… This was with someone mind. I also flew on a plane twice (well four if you count coming home) and although I had a panic attack the first time, the others I was fine. Just before New Year I bought myself a Playstation 4, something I had wanted for a very long time!

I’m pretty sure I have done more than I am letting on, but I just can’t think of much more. I still have so many things I want to do this year, and I thought I would share them here with you now.

  • Drive on the motorway on my own.

I want to start being able to drive to my boyfriends whenever I do so wish… Even if I do hate the close he lives in due to how small it is… It makes me anxious worrying about not being able to get out of there after parking. I also want to be able to drive to visit my two best friends, Poppy and Gabriella who both live an hour drive away. It would be nice to just drop either of them a text and say, “Hey what you doing later? Shall I come over and we can go out or hang out?” I would love that so much! I think it would really help my anxiety too.

  • Keep up with pole dancing fitness.

Although I haven’t been able to go as much recently due to Christmas and New Year, I cannot wait to get back to my classes on Tuesday as I really bloody miss it! I hope to have my own pole when I get my own house, and I intend to start setting goals of what moves I intend to learn every fortnight. I want to create my own routine, and when I get good enough I would love to do performances, but that won’t be for years yet! Pole dance goals? πŸ˜›

  • Get my blog to bigger, and better places!

I love my blog so much. It is like my little baby, and considering I have been running it for the past four years now, it’s doing really well for itself! I hope to be able to keep up with it, and even do better with it. I hope to be able to collaborate with fellow bloggers, as well as attend some blog meets too! I am hoping to have a new look for my blog soon too, I want a change for the New Year. Keeps eyes peeled for little changes here and there.

  • Finally buy a house with my boyfriend.

This is the biggest goal of the year, and one we both hope to do as soon as possible. With my new job I’ll be saving up as much as I can each month after payday, so that means spending bans! I want to live with Dane so damn much that it hurts. We’ve been together three years in June and it’s time to start planning our lives together. First a house, then a puppy, and when we’re ready we’ll start our own family. I’m not getting any younger, so I need to start being all serious now. I will be writing updates on house related stuff throughout the year!

Without getting all serious, I can’t think of anymore to be honest. I just want to keep my goals simple, and to the point. I also want some jokey goals as well throughout the year, after being inspired by Jemma over at Dork Face (link to her blog here).

  • Wear more lipstick! Apart from when my lips are dry, because dry and chapped lips covered in lipstick never look good.
  • Try to go to more gigs, because I really miss going to gigs.
  • Do more outfit posts on my blog!
  • Try and dress up more, because I dress like I did when I was a teenager and that isn’t good!
  • Go to London again… And Bristol, because I love Bristol.
  • Spend more time wrapped up in bed with Dane, watching anime, and playing games.
  • Go see friends more than I do.
  • Do more creative writing.
  • Play more games!

I really hope my life changes in 2016, as I really want it to be a good year. I want to achieve things I haven’t even put on the list. Things I haven’t even though of really. As I always do, I’ll be keeping you all updated on my blog with how life is going, and of course if I achieve any of the goals (both serious and silly ones!) that I manage to do throughout this year. The only thing I wish for is to see another year with Dane by my side. I love you so much Dane, and thank you for all the help you gave me in 2015. You are my rock, and whilst I was on holiday I began to realise how much I love him, and I want to be with him for the rest of my life… If I was a man I could do some sort of romantic engagement via my blog but alas, 1. I am not a man, 2. I don’t know if either of us wish to get married, and 3. I need to wrap up this post! πŸ˜›

What are your goals for 2016? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My Goals

With such big life changes happening in the space of a couple of months, I decided earlier this week that I need to start making goals for myself.

Like many of us do, I constantly say to myself about how I will do all these things and sometimes those things will get done and achieved and sometimes they’ll be forgotten about and thought of when I’m trying to sleep. You know when you lie in bed trying to sleep and suddenly you get all those thoughts of the things you said you would do and never did, then you go all psychologist on yourself and try to work out why those things didn’t get done. If you don’t think about those things you think about all the things you did or didn’t do that have screwed up your life now. Yes girls and guys, you know we ALL do that at some point. Since May this has become something that happened most nights and most of these nights I have lost sleep over it, well I’m not having that anymore!

I’ve set my goals that I want to try and complete within the next year and I know with the help of my friends, my boyfriend and my family I know I’ll complete them all by then… And if I don’t I can always say I tried and that’s what matters, because if you don’t try, you’ll never know.

I hope you enjoy this post and that it encourages you to set your own goals, if you haven’t done so already and if you have, great! I hope this post just encourages you all the more to complete those goals!

Get an iPhone – When my contract finishes for my current phone at the end of September (HTC Sensation XE FYI) I’m getting myself an iPhone. Everyone I know has one and they just look amazing and as my boyfriend has one I’ve been playing on it every once in a while to see what I think of it and I can say I love it. It feels nice, loads pages and apps up really quickly and just looks great. My HTC has done nothing but cause me trouble this year and excuse my French but it’s pissing me off now, so I’m glad to see the back of it. I’m going to jazz it up with a Vans case and a cute little microphone buddy, like these cute little Vocaloid characters in the above picture. I’m a sucker for anything Japanese and kawaii!

Learn to snowboard, buy snowboarding gear and go on a snowboarding holiday – This is essentially three goals, but they’re all about snowboarding so who cares! In my teenage years I was a skateboarder and after a bad fall that could have resulted in a broken nose, a broken tooth or both, I stopped as I worried that one day I might not be so lucky. When I first started to talk to my boyfriend he told me all about how much he loved snowboarding and it reminded me of back to when I enjoyed skateboarding. On our second date he showed me a video he’d put together from his snowboarding holiday with friends earlier that year. It looked so much fun and everyone seemed happy and like they had enjoyed themselves. Since then I’d thought more and more about giving snowboarding and go and I’ve decided I’m going to go learn how to do snowboard in a day course, which costs Β£119, but will be worth it! Then I’ll save up my money to buy myself my own snowboarding gear and then save up for a snowboarding holiday. When my boyfriend and I were talking about it and looking for snowboard gear for me earlier this week, he seemed so excited about it, which made me smile. I haven’t been on holiday since 2005, so I really could do with one soon! Whether it involves sunshine and hot weather or not, I just want a break from the UK for a while.

Save money – Due to not having a job for three months I lost quite a lot of my savings due to things I needed and bills I needed to pay so all my savings I had has sadly gone… I’m not going to say here how much they were but I’m hoping to have them all saved up by the New Year. As well as this I wish to save up the Β£5,000 I need for my MA course, instead of needing to borrow it from the bank. I should be able to save this money up, providing I’m good. Of course my holiday could come into this which will cost me between Β£400-Β£500, which I would need to save up ASAP. I like having money in my savings, just incase anything should ever happen and me quitting my job is a good example of this.

Writing – I want to continue with my writing this year. After finishing university I was out of a job for a year and in that time I wrote every other day and even took part in NaNoWriMo 2011, which I completed successfully in 25 days. To briefly explain what NaNoWriMo is, it’s a writing challenge that takes place from the start to the end of November, where you need to write a 50,000 word story in the 30 days of November. I attempted to do this in 2012, but due to my job being so demanding I wasn’t able to even reach 25,000 which really saddened me. I wasn’t able to write anything whilst being in my previous job due to how demanding it was either and it really saddened me. Now I have my new job I’m hoping I can get back into writing my novels, plays and screenplays as I’ve really missed doing them. As well as this I hope to continue writing on my blog, as I enjoy doing it and the feedback I get from you guys is amazing!

Drive more – I love driving but I really don’t drive enough and I want that to change! The only places I would ever drive is to work, with my Mom to the shops, the cinema occasionally with my friend Jacqui and sometimes I would pick people up from the pub too. Either way, not enough! I want to start driving myself to my boyfriends, which is about 25 miles away from where I live and takes an hour to go there. I love the thought of spontaneous adventures and when autumn comes along I want to start having these. As well as this I’ll of course be driving myself to my new job, which will be awesome. I love my car so much and his name is Sebastian, because he’s red like the crab in The Little Mermaid. I wish he had the accent too!

Visit lovely people – During my lifetime I have met some wonderful people… Thanks to the internet, yes the internet. Although we had mutual friends and my cousin was in her year at school, I met my friend Jacqui thanks to MySpace. I met my friend Gabriella through a forum we both use and I even met my boyfriend online. I still have people I need to meet from the world of the internet and I’m hoping to do this in the next year. I want to meet a few people I’ve met through Twitter, and a few people I have met through the same forum I met Gabriella off of. As well as this, I miss my friend Gabriella so much and I’m hoping to go and visit her more soon and this is where driving more comes into it!

Most of all, be happy! This is by far my biggest goal. I’ve been pretty unhappy for a long, long time and I’m only starting to feel a little bit happier. I know I won’t ever be 100% happy, I don’t think anyone can be THAT happy and if they are it probably doesn’t last all that long. But if I can be at least 70% happy, then I’ll be satisfied. As long as I have a job to keep my busy, money to pay the bills and my friends, my boyfriend and my family then I’ll be happy. Plus through completing all my goals so far, I think I’ll be a happy dinosaur by the end of them all.

So those are my goals for the next year, which I hope to have completed by August 2014.

I hope my goals have inspired you to make your own, or at least set some to complete in the next year.

If you already have goals set, let me know in the comments down below what they are. If you don’t have any and my post has inspired you, please let me know and let me know which goals you’ve thought of achieving.

I hope you all had a great week, as I know I did.

Until next time, take care and see you soon!
