Why I’m a Tangle Teezer Convert – Review

It’s Sunday and I am having such a lazy day! Me and Dane are sat in front of the TV playing games and watching movies whilst we on and off play Pokemon Go too. We have had such a lovely chilled weekend together and really spent time together, which was much needed.

For the rest of our day we’ll be chilling out and having a BBQ, all whilst I get on with blog work. I have loads in my head that I want and need to get written down, all whilst my hayfever plays up. 😛

This is a review I knew I wanted to do a week into using Tangle Teezer brushes. They’ve been around for just over 10 years now and this is the first time I have ever had the pleasure of using one. As someone who has long and thick hair, a review for these brushes is very much needed, especially the two styles I bought.

So get a nice cold drink, sit back and I hope you enjoy my review of not one, but two Tangle Teezer brushes.

I decided in June before me and Dane went away for a short break in Somerset that it was time for me to get a new hair brush. The one I was using at the time was the same style as a Tangle Teezer brush but it had started to see it’s last days and wasn’t performing as well as I wanted it to.

I decided to pick up the Large Smoothing Tool using my Boots points. Although I knew that this hair brush was designed to be using whilst blow drying your hair, I thought it would also be okay for just brushing your hair. Nah, this isn’t good for just that. The teeth on the brush are very hair and due to that it really hurts your scalp when brushing your hair. I gave this a test drive whilst I was in Somerset and I couldn’t get on with it at all!

Before we headed home me and Dane popped to Cribbs Causeway to get some breakfast and have some retail therapy. I decided to pop into Boots to grab the other Tangle Teezer hair brush I had my eye on, this one being The Ultimate Finishing Tool. Now this hair brush is amazing and it has drastically changed my life!

I’ve never tried the original Tangle Teezer and I don’t ever intend to to be honest. Why? well it’s just too small. I like a hair brush with a handle and that’s why I was always put off buying one of these hair brushes in the first place. With both the smoothing tool and the finishing tool they have handles, meaning they’re easy to hold.

The first brush I’m going to talk about is the smoothing tool.

Our innovative Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool takes the hair from wet to dry in one simple step, delivering a quick, smooth and gentle blow-dry.

The full size blow-drying hairbrush from Tangle Teezer is the innovative hairbrush which takes hair from wet to dry.

With ground-breaking teeth technology, the Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool has fixed base teeth with built in tension and slight flexibility at the tips. Delivering flow tension, the teeth allows the hair to snake through for a quick, smooth and gentle blow-dry without pulling or stretch-drying.

Taking excess water away from the hair for a faster drying time, the hair is left voluminous and shiny with reduced frizz. There’s no need for straightening irons.

The full size Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool is best suited for medium to long hair lengths.

When I first went to try this brush whilst blow drying my hair, I wondered if it would deliver what it said it would and surprisingly enough, it did! Not only do I have long hair, but I have thick hair too and whilst I’ve managed to get it blow dried at a reasonable time, it can take more time to dry it than it would for someone with shorter hair.

My Dyson hairdryer is amazing and really has improved my hair drying time, as well as my hair, so if I could find a hair brush to help me fasten the time even more, that’s amazing.

When my hair is wet I’ll brush it with this brush all over and run it through my hair whilst blow drying. As you’d probably gathered, the hair brush is designed to be used alongside a hairdryer. I’ll brush my hair and blow dry whatever is in the brush. I hope that makes sense, I can’t really think how to describe it! Due to the way the teeth are on this brush you can grab large and small pieces of hair to dry, which in turn makes drying the top of your head really easy. I always struggle to dry that part of my hair, but since getting this brush it’s definitely become easier to do.

I notice after using this on my hair that it feels lovely and smooth, with no frizz. If there would be a perfect partner tool for the Dyson hairdryer, it would definitely be this hair brush.

The smoothing tool is amazing and I am so happy to have it to use alongside my Dyson hair dryer now! Although I used my Boots points, this brush costs £20.00. Do I think it’s worth it? Definitely if you have long and thick hair like me which takes ages to dry! This has definitely sped up my Wednesday mornings before work. If your hair doesn’t take a long time to dry then this brush probably isn’t for you.

When my hair is dry I’ll go over it with this brush, but to make sure it’s lovely and smooth I’ll use the finishing tool.

The Ultimate dry-styles and dresses the hair. It’s designed to achieve perfect updos, back-brush in volume and texture and maintain hair extensions, clip-ins and weaves.

The Ultimate is Tangle Teezer’s fabulous new shocking pink dry-styling hairbrush.

Offering the perfect finishing touch, The Ultimate is created for dry-styling and dressing your hair. The unique teeth are longer with softer tips which lightly detangle and smooth cuticles for a high shine. It’s designed to achieve perfect up-dos, back-brush in volume and texture and to maintain and blend in hair extensions, clip-ins and weaves.

Easy to hold, simple to use and all you need for that final flourish, The Ultimate hairbrush finishes your look in style.

If there is a beauty staple I’ve bought this year that I have fallen in love with and will rave is one of the best I’ve bought, it’s this bad boy. Oh man this hair brush has actually changed my life! I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s the honest truth.

This brush is said to be for best brush for styling, but personally I think it’s perfect for just brushing my hair. The Tangle Teezer brushes are known for having the bristles that won’t pull your hair and hurt you pretty much. They brush through the hair with ease and detangle as they pass through any matted hair.

The bristles on this brush are long and due to that catch every hair you brush. Although they aren’t as thick and strong as the smoothing tool bristles, these bristles still hold up pretty well for what they are, which I love! It means if you have really thick hair they’ll withstand it without them getting damaged.

I find that this brush leaves my hair feeling soft, sleek and smooth after brushing. Everyday I put my hair into a fishtail braid and for this I need my hair to be really smooth so I can make it look as neat as possible. This brush has really helped to do that and my fishtail braids always look near and tidy.

My only issue with this brush is that it gather muck quickly around the bristles and although I clean it daily/weekly, I already feel that I need to give the brush a deep clean! I never had this with any of my other brushes. I intend to give it a big deep clean tonight when I have a bath.

As I said before and I’ll say again, this hair brush has really changed my life. Growing up I always used paddle brushes to brush my hair, as I’ve always had thick and long hair. Some paddle brushes broke due to the constant brushing and others just didn’t brush as well as they could have. I’m glad that we now have brushes like the Tangle Teezer ones that will do a great job in brushing our hair without LOADS of effort.

Again, I used my Boots points to buy this brush, but it costs £15.00 to buy. Would I pay that price for a brush? Well knowing now how amazing this one is, FUCK YES! Sorry to swear but honestly, I’ve never used a hair brush as good as this one and I love it dearly. Brushing my hair has never felt like a chore, I love my hair so much. This brush makes me feel somewhat glam after using as it just makes my hair look and feel gorgeous.

Will I try anymore of the Tangle Teezer brushes? I don’t know in all honesty, not unless I replace the two I have in the future with the same things… These are all I really want from the Tangle Teezer collection. I don’t need one I can throw in my handbag because I don’t brush my hair whilst I’m out and about. I braid it and leave it for the day.

Do you own a Tangle Teezer brush or brushes? Which one(s) do you own? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend.

Things I’m Excited For – The Body Shop

Recently The Body Shop have announced a lot of exciting things for spring and summer this year, including hair chalk, some lip glosses, and eye shadows, as well as a special edition collection, which I oh so wish was permanent!

Like a lot of bloggers have been doing, I’m also going to jump on the bandwagon and talk about some of these, but I’ll be sharing the ones I’m interested in. I don’t really bother with lip gloss anymore and as regular readers will know, I don’t wear a full face of make up, just my lip products.

So let’s get started! I’ll save the best for last! 😛

Hair Chalk.

For a year or two now, everyone has gone mad for multicoloured hair and people have gone to all sorts to gain it whether it be with permanent, semi permanent or sprays and chalks to get this look. Women have been putting it on their ends of their hair to give them a different look, as well as a pop of colour and I even bought some red hair spray about a year ago to try and pull the look off myself, but I never got round to trying it and the can of spray is still in my cupboard…

However now that The Body Shop have bought out some hair chalks, I KNOW I’ll be giving these a go, as they look and sound amazing. I’ve seen some promotional images of how these transfer onto both blonde and brunette hair colours and they look great!

There are two shades to choose from, pink and blue.

Image taken from thebodyshop.com

The pink hair chalk is called Tickle Me Pink and is described as, “Transform your look with a pop of pink hair chalk for instantly on-trend style.”

Image taken from thebodyshop.com

The pink hair chalk is called Falling For Blue and is described as, “Transform your look with bold blue hair chalk for instantly on-trend style.”

I really like the look of these hair chalks and not only do they look nice in their simple packaging, they transfer well onto the hair and to apply and remove, is a piece of cake!

The colours are both pretty bold and to transfer to hair you just pick the piece of hair you want to make colourful and rub the chalk onto the hair. Once you’re satisfied with your new temporary colour you spritz with some hair spray to keep seal it into place.

When you’ve had enough of your hair chalk all you need to do is wash it out with shampoo. Simple!

As of yet a price hasn’t been announced for  how much the hair chalks will be, but as soon as I know, I’ll be updating this post!

I’m going to get my hands on Falling For Blue, when my spending ban  is over, as I really want to give colour a go for the summer. I’ll be applying it to pieces of my braid to give it a funky look! When/if I give this a go, I’ll be making sure to post about it!

The Body Shop Special Edition BlueberrySpecial Edition Blueberry.

This is what I’m excited about, the Special Edition Blueberry collection that The Body Shop is bringing out for spring and summer. Damn, why can’t it be permanent?! I know so many who love Blueberry and when The Body Shop brought their Blueberry body butter out, it did very well! Same about their Blueberry shower gel, but that was only an online item, which was a shame.

However they now have a WHOLE collection of goodies out, including lip butter, shower gel, a cute bath sponge, body scrub-gelee, body lotion, and body butter.

I already have my eye on pretty much everything but I know that in reality I’m only going to be picking up four things (if I like them after trying them in store of course!) out of the six listed above… Unless I’m good and pick up less, but I doubt this will happen. I love blueberry a lot, it’s one of the few fruits I can actually eat and blueberry muffins are something that I’ve grown to love over the past couple of years.

image taken from thebodyshop.com

This has been up on The Body Shop’s website for quite a few months now for £4.00 for the 250ml bottle, which is the standard price of their 250ml shower gels. I have enough shower gel to probably last me until the end of 2014, but I CAN’T resist this and I know it would be loved and used just as much as my other shower gels would be. This would be lovely and refreshing to use during the summer whether it be in the morning or on the night. I love The Body Shop’s shower gels as they always leave me feeling clean, moisturised and smelling beautiful.

Image taken from thebodyshop.com

How cute is this little bath sponge?! I probably don’t need a new one, but how damn cute is this??? I don’t think I can resist it and I could probably do with a new one soon anyway! I can only imagine this will be between £2.00-£3.00 but as of yet the website hasn’t stated a price. Look at his little face! Damn I need this in my bathroom. I love the colour blue too!

Image taken from thebodyshop.com

This is something somewhat new sounding by The Body Shop and I can’t wait to check out a tester version of it in store! This is the body scrub-gelee and the name is just so cool! It just sounds like a gel style scrub, which sounds rather exciting to me. It contains honey, as well as blueberry to help keep the skin soft, as well as give you that gorgeous blueberry scent. This will help lift away dead skin cells and leave the skin feeling soft and smooth. I only have two body scrubs and by the time I pick this up, the one will be finished with! I’d use this on my legs before shaving as it would help with shaving as well as leaving my legs lovely and smooth and smelling gorgeous. I don’t know how much this will cost but I can’t wait to pick this up!

Image taken from thebodyshop.com

I love a good body lotion and for a while I have wanted to try one of The Body Shop’s body lotions, as I’ve previously tried their Coconut spray lotion and it was amazing! I want to try the Strawberry one, but for now I would so try the Blueberry one which sounds delicious! I can’t stand the body butters from The Body Shop, they’re greasy and take years to go into my skin that I just want to rip my skin off! However the body lotions are lovely and light, still moisturisng the same as the body butters would. Like a majority of the Blueberry products that are coming out, I don’t know how much this will be, but I can’t wait to pick it up.

So that’s all the things I’m excited for from The Body Shop!

I can see me being poor when I come off of my spending ban… But it’ll be well worth it!

Have you had your eye on any of the new products from The Body Shop? Let me know in the comments.

Take care all and I hope you’re having a good February so far!

#VintSetFest goodies *warning image heavy again*

Hello again, as I mentioned yesterday my VintSetFest post was going to be split into two, the first one being about the event itself and the second being about the awesome goodie bag you received when attending the meet up, as well as the stuff I bought and made (yes made!) at the meet up too.

As well as stands selling amazing little bits and pieces and making your make up, nails and hair look pretty, there was also a crafting stall there, where you could make something of your own for free. Yes, completely free!

I decided to give it a go and instead of just making one thing, I decided to make two.

DSCF2009

DSCF2008

You had the choices of making a sunglasses case, a collar and a bracelet, I decided to go for the collar and bracelet. I wanted to go back to make my best friend a bracelet too but by the time I went back, they were getting ready to leave, which was a real shame.

DSC_0013

DSC_0014

DSC_0017 DSC_0018

The first I decided to make was a collar, as I was one of the first people to sit down and have a go at this there was plenty of materials and such to choose from.

I decided to go for a white-collar and cover it in studs. I was going to cover the whole thing in studs, but it took long enough just to apply 5, so I left that idea out. The ladies who were working at the craft stall were lovely and extremely helpful! They came over to everyone one at a time as the stall began to get busy, ensuring and making sure that everyone was getting on okay. I’m really pleased with how my collar turned out, and although I’m unsure of how I’m going to wear it yet, I WILL be wearing it throughout the autumn and winter season as I think it’ll go well with grunge and punk outfits.

DSC_0019

DSC_0020

The second thing I decided to make was a bracelet. These were easy to make and can be made at home, which I liked. You gather together three different materials, cut them to the desired shape and size, put together and sew the top of the bracelet to create one of the tassels. Then putting the sewed side underneath something heavy, you begin to plait the materials together, as tight as possible. It was fun to make one of these and even though it’s chunky, it looks awesome! I’m going to start making these with little pieces of thread to wear like surf bracelets for when autumn and winter come along.

DSC_0021

Sadly, not every thing was free but I didn’t mind for the prices I paid for these things.

I picked up two bracelets from The Vintage Set and Love Without Measure. The black and silver peace sign being from Love Without Measure and the green and gold bird one being from The Vintage Set, which was also a special edition bracelet for VintSetFest, so I knew I had to pick one up while I had the chance! They were both £4 each and I haven’t stopped wearing them since buying them.

Macadamia Hair were at the event selling some of their products for less than they would on their website, so I thought I would pick up one of their No Tangle Styler Brush for £10. Although it is retailed on their website for £9.95, I got a free sample of their Deep Repair Masque and a 10ml bottle of their Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment. So I got quite a bit for my money, which was nice.

I love this hair brush so much! It’s just like a Tangle Teaser, but it has a handle so it’s a little easier to use. I’ll be writing a review about this in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

I also picked up a 75ml can of Catwalk Work It hairspray, as it was only £2.50 and I thought it would give it a go for such little money! I can’t wait to use it when I start making my hair curly and wavy again.

DSC_0001

Finally onto the goodie bag that I received when I arrived at the event! It was so generous of them to give goodie bags away and I can tell you, for my first one it was amazing! Full of things I know I’ll enjoy trying out and possibly buying in the future. I know I’ll be reviewing most of them, for sure! I’m going to make sure to talk about everything I received in my goodie bag, just so you guys know what amazing products I got.

L-R: Neal & Wolf Ritual Daily Cleansing Shampoo & Daily Conditioner. Both for all hair types. Macadamia Deep Repair Masque. Goody Good Stuff Sour Koala Gummy Bears. Halo Eye Make-Up Remover Pads.

Neal & Wolf Ritual Daily Cleansing Shampoo & Daily Conditioner. This stuff sounds amazing and right up my street for the type of shampoo and conditioner I would choose to use on my hair. I can’t wait to try this stuff out and as it’s for all hair types I won’t have to worry I’m using something wrong on my hair type.

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque. My hair could do with some repairing lately as I haven’t had time and I’m not lacking funds to go and get it trimmed, so I’ll definitely be giving this a go soon on my hair and as I received a free sachet of this with the brush I bought, I can give it a couple of goes, or maybe even give a sachet away to my Mom or a friend to try as well.

Goody Good Stuff Sour Koala Gummy Bears. I didn’t expect to get sweets in my goodie bag and I’ve been fighting off the urge to eat them before making this post on my blog. I offered them to my boyfriend late last week and he declined. What a silly boy because these taste delicious! I’ll be checking out this company for what else they sell, as I’m trying to diet right now and these sweets will be perfect to help me ween myself off of Haribo.

Halo Eye Make-Up Remover Pads. As regular readers will know, I don’t wear make-up… Well apart from lipstick and nail polish, that’s all. These won’t be much use to me, but I know they will be for my Mom and maybe to me when I next wear a lip stain, as I only find that make-up removers can get them off clean without scrubbing for ages.

DSC_0006

L-R: Argan Oil Healing Shine Treatment and Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment. Macadamia Oil Revitalizing Shine Hair Treatment and Hydrating Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment. Keratin Protein Smoothing Shine Oil and Smoothing Deep Conditioner.

Argan Oil Healing Shine Treatment and Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment. This stuff sounds like a spa treatment for my hair! It strengthens dry and damaged hair, which is what I need right now due to this hot weather we’ve been having lately, and as I mentioned above, it’ll help my split ends that I need to get trimmed off ASAP. I had a sniff of the oil and it doesn’t smell amazing, but it isn’t unpleasant either. I’ll soon see what it’s like when I pop it onto my hair.

Macadamia Oil Revitalizing Shine Hair Treatment and Hydrating Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment. This isn’t as appealing to me as the Argan Oil, but it still sounds really good and will would work wonders over the cold winter months when my hair is getting damaged from being under hot and cold, over and over. The oil smells absolutely amazing! It smells like sweets and I really can’t wait to use this on my hair soon.

Keratin Protein Smoothing Shine Oil and Smoothing Deep Conditioner. This stuff will help my hair loads with its split ends until I can get it cut and even after I have, it’ll continue to keep my hair strong and prevent it breaking. The oil smells really nice, it reminds me of oranges and lemons. I can’t wait to try this one out either, although I’m going to wait until after I get my hair trimmed to try it.

DSC_0007

L-R: Green People Sun Lotion in SPF 15. Little White Lie Tanning Lotion in Lighter.

Green People Sun Lotion in SPF 15. This is an organic sun lotion, which i think is a really nice idea! I’ll be using this on my face while we have some nice weather to enjoy. It smells like lavender and isn’t heavy on the skin at all, thus it doesn’t take too long to rub into the skin and sink into the skin too. I’m excited to try this out!

Little White Lie Tanning Lotion in Lighter. I won’t be using this, nope not even on my pasty white English legs. Why? Well why not? I hate self tan, if you want a tan go out and get one. I can sympathise with people who burn as soon as they enter the suns rays, but for people who can get a tan, go and get one if you want one that bad. I’m sick of seeing people resorting to fake all the time and plus it looks orange and horrible, even when done properly. I’ll be giving this away to my Mom to try out.

DSC_0009

L-R: Polaroid Contacts Pod Pre-Filled Contact Lens Case. Dylon Fabric Dye in Navy Blue.

DSC_0010

DSC_0011

Polaroid Contacts Pod Pre-Filled Contact Lens Case. Oh how I wish I wore contact lenses right now, even if they were for a cosplay or for Halloween, as it looks like this contact lens case is going to be wasted, unless I find someone who will give them a good home. Either way this looks amazing and if and when I do wear contact lenses, I think I will invest in one of these.

Dylon Fabric Dye in Navy Blue. I really can’t wait to try this fabric dye out! I wish I could have got a different colour, as out of everything bloggers received in their goodie bags, this was the only thing that was different from each others. But I can’t complain, this stuff will be fun to try out and I’ll probably try and do some dip dye with some shorts, t-shirts and cardigans.

I completely forgot to take a picture but I also received a Carmex Lip Balm Tube, which was really nice to get and since VintSetFest, I’ve used it everyday! I’m hooked on this product and not only will it be featuring in my July favourites, it’ll also be getting a review in the future. It’s just that good!

So that was everything I bought and received at VintSetFest.

I can’t express how much I loved this meet up and I can’t wait for next year to do it all over again, as it did so well, I would be very surprised if they didn’t do another one next July.

I met a couple of lovely girls there too, but sadly didn’t exchange details, but I hope through writing my two posts, that they’ll find me here and say hello (I won’t bite!).

I want to thank The Vintage Set and Tiger Bam who organised the event, got everyone involved and sent out all the invitations to beauty bloggers alike!

I’m really pleased to have been a part of it and excited to attend more blogger meets in the near future.

Did you attend VintSetFest? If you did let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care and continue to have a good week.
