After! 😀

I mentioned on my blog post yesterday that I made my boyfriend Dane a birthday cake, and of course due to his huge man love for Deadpool, I knew I had to make him a cake themed on his favourite mercenary. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be, and I had some help along the way from some awesome YouTuber’s.

I didn’t make this cake myself technically, and give credit to SORTEDfood, CupcakeJemma, and Christy’s Sweet Treats for making such awesome videos for me to watch and have guide me in making and awesome cake for Dane. 🙂

I’m not going to go through the whole process of how I made the cake, as it wasn’t my recipe to show to you in the first place. I will show off some pictures though that Dane took as I made it, as well as showing you the YouTube videos I found that helped me make this cake happen.

The cake recipe I decided to use was the Epic Chocolate Cake recipe by the SORTEDfood guys! This cake just looked too good not to do myself and let me tell you, this cake tasted delicious as well. It’s a really easy cake to make from scratch to be honest, and even though I had my KitchenAid to help me with mixing, even with a hand whisk it would have been okay as well.

Picture set one is go!

WOOHOO ALL COOKED! Cooling time whilst I made the buttercream.

For the buttercream I followed Jemma’s recipe over at Jamie Oliver’s YouTube channel.

For the buttercream I did two different types, chocolate (inside the cake and around the cake as a base, and for the black Deadpool design), and vanilla (for the red and white on the Deadpool design). To be honest, the chocolate one was the best, the vanilla being a little bit sickly to be honest. I wouldn’t do the vanilla again to be honest, and instead just keep it as pure chocolate cake!

It is SUCH AN EASY way to make buttercream icing, and by far the yummiest I have ever tasted, if I do say so myself. Of course I did this twice, one for chocolate, and one for vanilla.

Picture set two is go!

Alllll done! This was delicious. 😛

Finally the video that gave me the idea to make this cake in the first place was Christy’s Deadpool Buttercream Cake video.

She made it look really easy to do, and I constantly worried I would mess up the design on the cake and end up a crying mess on the floor. But alas, I was fine! I had never piped before this, so I am extremely proud of myself that I did just that as well as I did.

Finally picture set three is gooooo!

My mug with my creation! 😛

Overall the cake took 3 hours to make… Which is a long time but to be honest it was so worth it! We kept it in the fridge for majority of the time to keep it fresh, but we soon discovered that you should really take it out to warm up the buttercream a little so you can cut it easier…

Dane loved his birthday cake, which I’m really happy about, and to be honest I really loved making it. I doubt I’ll make another one again anytime soon, but alas at least I know that I am capable of doing so again in the future.

I do apologise for all the pictures on the post, but they were kinda necessary weren’t they? 😛

Are you a chocolate cake and Deadpool fan? Would you give this cake a go? If you’re not a Deadpool fan what other design would you have a go at? Make sure to let me know all your opinions down in the comments down below!

Until next time, have a lovely day all and I hope you all have a great week too.
