Autumn Tag 2017

Image taken from weheartit.com

Another year, another autumn tag!

Just want to say first of all, HELLO! I feel like I haven’t been around for forever, when it’s only been about 3 weeks. As many will know I just got back (early hours of Thursday) from a 2 week holiday in Fuerteventura. It was amazing and to be honest I just felt like I’d gone home (which I kind of did tbf seeing as I’ve been there for more times than I can count and have a house there…) and had time off of work etc.

I’ll be writing LOADS of posts Fuerteventura related over the next couple of weeks so keep your eyes peeled for those! For now however I need to get an autumn related post out there. Autumn started whilst I was on holiday and Thursday morning when me and Dane went out for a very naughty McDonald’s breakfast I noticed that autumn well and truly started whilst we were gone.

Every year I do a post with an autumn tag, and this year is no different from the rest. I hope you enjoy this one, I’ve tried to find one that isn’t an exact replica of previous years. 🙂

This tag is floating around everywhere to be honest but I found this one through Lotte’s Beauty Box, so please make sure to go and check out her answers!

Quick disclaimer… The use of both the terms Autumn and Fall kept chopping and changing throughout this tag and whilst I didn’t notice it, Dane did as he was sat next to me. His point about fall being an American term for autumn and the chopping and changing of the two was very accurate… So I changed Fall to Autumn. Got to be British and accurate/correct, right? 😛

1. What signifies the start of Autumn for you?

When the leaves start to change in colour. I just love the yellow, orange and brown colours of autumn so much and it’s when the leaves go this colour that I know I can start saying we’re in autumn territory.

2. What is your favourite Autumn scent?

I always forgot about how much I love it but La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain is definitely one I love to wear as the weather gets colder. Since the day I first smelt it it has always reminded me of Lush’s discontinued Space Girl bath bomb. It has a warm blackcurrant/blackberry type scent which I love. I’ve owned this for ages and it’s still lasting so well! As soon as it runs out I’ll definitely be buying a new one!

3. What is your favourite Autumn colour?

Mustard yellow and burgundy. Always have been and always will be! Which in turn reminds me that I need to get a new mustard yellow jumper. I’ve seen one in Zara which I’ll be picking up very soon. My previous one was from there and it was so damn comfortable!

4. What is your favourite Autumn drink?

I’m always down for hot drinks… But I wouldn’t say I’m much of an autumn drink gal. I’m more of a winter hot drink person. If I could pick anything thought it’d definitely be something salted caramel related! I can’t remember when BUT I do remember Starbucks bringing out a burnt salted caramel latte and it was amazing. I wish they would make it permanent. 😦

5. What TV show, new or old, are you looking forward to this Autumn?

I’m definitely excited for Stranger Things 2 to come out! I’m also really excited to continue to binge watch American Horror Story with Dane. Now we’re back from holiday we’ll be starting on season 3 very soon… AKA later on today. I’m also loving that seasons 21 of South Park has kicked off, as well as the new season of British Bake Off, which I am loving this year.

6. What is your favourite Autumn fashion trend?

It’s got to be Dr Martens boots and sweaters with prints of my favourite things on! I’m really after a new pair of Docs this year and I’m forever after new sweaters! 😛 I bought a new one whilst I was in Fuerteventura (which I’ll be showing in a haul VERY SOON!) and I’ve seen a sweater dress from Bershka that I’m going to buy soon too.

7. What is your favourite frugal Autumn activity?

I don’t really have one to be honest… BUT since being on holiday I want to go for walks with Dane in the countryside. We did loads of walking when we were away and if there’s a season I want to do this with, it’s autumn.

8. What is your favourite makeup look come autumnal weather?

As I only wear lipstick, a gorgeous dark and vampy look is always a good look no matter what! I’ve bought a new dark purple recently by Barry M (which I’ll be reviewing soon!) and it looks stunning, especially for autumn.

So that was the autumn tag! I’m so damn excited to be at home as it’s started to kick off. I never had it when I lived at home, but in my own home me and Dane have the best autumnal view in our front room, which I love more than anything.

I tag whoever loves autumn to take part in this! So… That’s practically everyone then. 😛

Until next time, take care all and have a lovely Sunday.

Autumn Is Here!

Image taken from weheartit.com

Yes it is officially here! As of today autumn 2014 is upon us and I intend to make the most of it this year and as I do every year, I’m going to write a post about it too.

This year I’m getting my boyfriend to contribute in a few things that he likes about autumn too, just to make it a little different this year.

AND I know everyone usually posts the same things as one another on these types of posts but… Whatever I’m going to do it anyway! 😛

  • Hot drinks.

You can’t go wrong with meeting up with loved ones and friends to have a good catch up over your favourite hot autumn drink. Over the weekend I tried Starbucks pumpkin spiced latte and I didn’t actually think I would enjoy it, it turns out I love it! I’m not a fan of chai latte like some due to how spicy and cinnamon it tastes so I imagined that PSL would be the same, oh how wrong I was! It is somewhat sickly but with some whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkles it makes it somewhat less sickly. I can definitely see why people love that drink for autumn and winter! Alongside that I love to have their peppermint mocha, but that’s also more of a winter drink for Christmas. Another drink I love to have over the autumn season is Costa’s hot spiced apple. If you’ve never tried it then do but if you aren’t a fan of sickly drinks then ask for a lot less than they put in, they usually fill it quite high. I asked my boyfriend what his favourite how drink was for autumn and he said, “Hot Ribena.” It’s a good choice as now I want one!

  • Burgundy and mustard.

Burgundy has always been my go to colour for autumn and last year wine bottle green also came into it, however this year I am in love with mustard! I’ve already bought myself two mustard coloured jumpers and I intend to buy myself a mustard coloured dress next… Talk about obsessed! These two shades symbolise autumn to a tee for me and you can dress them both up with navy and grey shades perfectly and of course black, but black goes with everything.

  • Jumpers and cardigans.

No one can resist a soft and snuggly jumper or cardigan and I am one of those people for sure! I love when the middle of September is here because we start to see all the shops stocking loads of snuggly jumpers and thick cardigans for us to buy and wear! As I mentioned above I’ve already bought myself some jumpers ready for the colder weather, as well as that I’ve also bought myself a new cardigan, which I’m already living in! I love big snuggly jumpers that you can hide your hands inside and snuggle up in whilst out and about! I don’t know why but I’ve really wanted turtle neck jumpers this year and so far I’ve bought one… I don’t know if I’ll buy anymore. We shall see!

  • Yankee Candles.

Who doesn’t like Yankee Candles? If you don’t GET OUT! No I joke! I love scented candles but as the years have gone by Yankee Candles seem to be the number 1 choice for me now and I don’t really burn anything else… Unless I wish to burn it for less than 4 hours. I have four Yankee Candles, Sweet Strawberry, Berrylicious, Christmas Cookie and Red Velvet. Red Velvet is my favourite for autumn but as this candle is discontinued I don’t have the heart to burn it! As soon as I spot a large jar of it, I shall buy! But for now I’m saving my candle. My boyfriend is currently burning a candle from Village Candles in the scent Brownie Delight. It smells just like chocolate brownies and is so yummy! I need to write-up a Yankee Candle wish list for autumn soon…

  • Crisp autumn leaves.

I love leaves in autumn, they’re so dried up and crunchy and sound amazing as you walk through them. Don’t you think so? I love wearing my Chelsea boots or Dr Martens whilst walking through the leaves, it just makes everything seem so lush and nostalgic to when you were a child. Not only does it make me feel great walking through the leaves but the photographer inside me does somersaults of joy as soon as the trees begin to turn those gorgeous red, brown and yellow that we all love and enjoy seeing. I really can’t wait to get my photography on this year!

I think I’m all autumn’d out now! I asked my boyfriend about what things he liked about autumn and he said, “I like how it shows that winter will soon be here, that’s my favourite season.” he also said, “As it starts to get colder it means I can start wearing my beanies again.” Which he practically lives in if the weather isn’t too warm! He’s a snowboarder so winter will always be his favourite season.

But autumn is mine and I’m glad it’ll be around for a while!

Do you like autumn? What do you like about it? Make sure to let me know in the comments.

Until next time, take care all and go out and start enjoying the autumn season.

Why hello autumn, lovely to see you again!

Image taken from weheartit.com

Well it’s September and it marks a lot of things, but the start of the autumn season is one of them. It officially be upon us until 22nd September but I couldn’t wait until then to make this post! My favourite season by far is autumn, always has been since a young age, so I’m so happy for it to finally be coming upon us at the end of this month.

Here’s some of my personal reasons for loving Autumn so much!

The colours

Autumn colours are beautiful and show us how things can change so quickly, as every season does. The orange, red, yellow and brown are so gorgeous. One of the streets I walk down to go to places (train to Coventry, bus to town, work, etc) is lined with horse-chestnut trees and I remember fondly as a child at the start of every new school year going along the street with my dad picking up conkers to use in conker fights against each other. The last time we gathered any was the last time we ever did, as I grew out of it and we had gathered enough conkers to last us for years! I just love the sounds of the leaves crunching under my feet whilst I walk around and the lovely sunshine that we seem to get in September too, the sunshine we usually crave all summer. However this year we’ve had a great summer, which is a nice change!

Note-able dates

With autumn comes some two of my favourite holidays of the year,  Halloween and Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night. Halloween is one of the funnest nights of the year, not matter how old you are as you get to dress up for one night as anything you want and have lots of fun! I only ever went treat or tricking once as a kid and I can safely say I hated it! Something about knocking on strangers doors and shouting, “TRICK OR TREAT!” felt wrong to me and half the time I was either ignored or greeted by someone with old out of date sweets. A few people gave me money and I ended up gathering £10, which I can’t remember for the life of me what I spent it on. Since going to university I have started to dress up for Halloween again, one year being a Japanese school girl, another year being Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange, my favourite Halloween costume yet! This year I would like to be an asylum runaway so straight jacket, scars across mouth to show some sort of insanity. I was intending to do it last year but due to lack of time and funds, it was never done in time. I shall attempt it this year mind! As well as Halloween there is Bonfire Night, which I enjoy celebrating every year if I can. The smell of a fire burning is just lush and the noise of the cracking from what is burning on the fire is amazing too. I’m hoping to go somewhere to celebrate Bonfire Night this year, as I don’t recall doing so last year.

Hot chocolate

Autumn is the perfect excuse to drink a huge mug of your favourite hot chocolate. If not at home, then at your favourite coffee shop. I always make myself a mint hot chocolate in my 101 Dalmatians mug, nothing better than your favourite hot drink in a Disney Store mug. I always pop some marshmallows or hot chocolate on top if I fancy something special, and both if I’m feeling a little gloomy. The best hot chocolate though is Bailey’s hot chocolate, which I always treat myself to after a long day at work or out and about. I can see me having many of these over the weekend! Also as I work in a coffee shop, we have access to so many flavoured syrups! My favourites are mint (as already mentioned), salted caramel and crème brûlée. I love hot chocolate, really does perk me up on a cold day and when I’m feeling a little crappy.

Early nights

The clocks go back and the late nights go away until next spring and summer. I really like early nights, even though it makes traveling home from my partners feel a little dangerous, but I should be driving back and forth soon enough anyway. I like watching the sky go dark as I walk and travel home and even though my bedroom window. I’ll miss having my curtains open until 9pm and I’ve already had to start shutting them around 7.30pm-8pm. With the early nights, the weather gets chilly too, but for a while in September the weather will be a little on the warm side. Whether chilly or warm, early nights involve baggy jumpers, jeans and a big coat. As well as boots and a chunky scarf to finish off the warm look.

So if you hadn’t already noticed from the above, I LOVE AUTUMN! I intend to make the most of it this year too!

Do you like autumn too? If so, why? Let me know in the comments down below.

Apologies for being a little quiet of late, I’ve just been a tad busy with my new job, but all will be settled and back to normal soon.

Until next time, take care all!
