L’Oreal Paris Smooth Sugars Clear Scrub – Review

Why is it that one minute I barely write any reviews and then the next I’ll write loads? It’s so odd! Today I have a review I’ve been meaning to review for ages now but I wanted to give it a long trial so I could give you guys a proper review. If that makes sense? You’ll see what I mean when I write the review.

Anyway, no time like the present, let’s get on with it!

I heard about this scrub when it was released in America, not long before it was released in the UK. I KNEW I had to try it! I’m really loving the beauty products that L’Oreal is bringing out lately, from their face masks to their hydra genius. They’re really on it lately and I really hope they keep up with the amazing products!

These new sugar scrubs come in three different types, glow scrub (polishes and boosts radiance), nourish scrub (softens and smooths) and the one I picked up, clear scrub.

The clear scrubs claims it purifies and lifts blackheads with the 3 fine sugars and kiwi seeds that the sugar scrub contains.

On the box it states;

For the first time, the L’Oreal Paris Laboratories have selected 3 FINE SUGARS and combined them with KIWI SEEDS so you can instantly reveal pure, freshly clean, baby-soft skin. Use on face & lips.

A natural exfoliant rich in essential nutrients. We have selected fine crystals of brown, golden and white sugars, for deep yet gentle exfoliation.

KIWI SEEDS, to smooth skin, unclog pores and visibly reduce blackheads.
PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL, rich in soothing properties, to visibly reduce blemishes.
LEMONGRASS ESSENTIAL OIL, to purify skin.

Beyond clearing, our expert blend cares for the skin.

Delicately scented, the light, fresh formula heats on the skin, for maximum efficacy and a unique cleansing experience.

INSTANT AND LONG-TERM, VISIBLE RESULTS:
IMMEDIATELY: Skin is clean and purified.
AFTER 1 WEEK: Pores & blackheads are visibly reduced and skin is mattified.
USE AFTER USE: Skin is smoother, revived and healthy-looking with a baby-soft touch.

When looking more into the scrub and what it contains and is said to do, I KNEW I had to give it a go! Not only can you use this sugar scrub on your face, but you can use it on your lips too, which was what hit the nail on the head for me buying this.

Sadly this scrub was incredibly overpriced (in my opinion) at £9.99 so I waited for ages to find this on a half price offer. I paid £6.65 for it and I feel like this lower price was definitely worth it.

I decided to give the clear scrub a go out of the three as I’d heard it was the best for combination skin, but also because I’d heard bad things about the nourish scrub being incredibly greasy, and that isn’t what I needed! 😛

I couldn’t wait to give this sugar scrub a go so as soon as I got home I had a lovely hot bath and used this for the first time! I know there are instructions on the packaging you can follow, but I thought I’d share what I do, for both in the bath and in the shower.

The product itself isn’t liquidly, but neither is it super thick. A little goes a long way but I always grab a dollop of this to make sure I have enough to scrub all over my face and lips. It does feel tacky and sticky when using but this isn’t a bad thing! It moves around your face easily and doesn’t feel sticky really when using it on the skin and especially doesn’t when you rinse it off.

No matter what you must have dry hands when using this product! If your hands are wet when digging into the jar for the scrub, any water left behind WILL create and form bacteria.

You apply this to a dry face and scrub in circular motions all over your face. I always focus a little more on my t-zone and cheeks as that’s where my skin is at its worst the majority of the time. When you’ve had enough rinse the product off of your hands and using your wet hands continue to scrub your face in circular motions all over until the scrub has melted. Then rinse the scrub off of your face with water. I always use a damp flannel afterwards to make sure all of the scrub and sugar is off of my face.

If you want to use this on your lips just go over them and scrub in circular motions after you’ve done all over your face. You could otherwise use this on a daily basis if you wanted to on your lips, but they recommend you use the sugar scrub three times a week. I only use it once or twice a week.

The first time I used this scrub I worried I’d had an allergic reaction as a couple of days after use I had a really bad breakout on both of my cheeks. It was so bad, it looked like acne. Thankfully it wasn’t due to this sugar scrub, which I learned after using it again after my skin calmed down. It was due to something else, which I’ve stopped using since.

Since that incident I’ve used this scrub at least 10 times and have had no issues whatsoever! If anything this scrub has left my skin feeling not only baby soft after use, but I can really tell it’s gotten into my pores and lifted out any dirt that had gathered, especially on my nose. I don’t suffer with blackheads on my nose but I do notice the pores become a little clearer on my nose after using this product.

My lips also always feel super soft when using this sugar scrub too! I hate using lip scrubs on my lips as they’re always sticky, taste like shit when you lick them off and make a fucking mess! This one is great! Don’t lick it though, it’ll taste foul. 😛

Over the past couple of months of use, I’ve definitely noticed a different in my skin, especially when I’ve broken out. Using this scrub really does help throughout anytime with a breakout, start, middle and even at the end.

You get 50ml of product in this glass jar and I haven’t even made a dent in this product yet, even though I’ve used it loads of times. It also has a gorgeous sweet scent like kiwi, but isn’t strong or overpowering AT ALL. If anything it’s just the right amount of scent you would want from any beauty product. I love the scent though for in the mornings when using this scrub as I feel it really does brighten me up and prepares me for the day ahead.

Overall I LOVE this sugar face scrub and it will definitely be becoming a part of my bathrooms family! I refuse to pay £9.99 for it however as I don’t feel it’s worth such a high price and instead I’ll be grabbing it whenever it’s on offer and I’m low on the product.

At the time of writing this review these sugar scrubs are half price at Superdrug and only cost £6.65 each! I’ll link the Clear Scrub I’ve reviewed and own here.

What do you think of the L’Oreal Sugar Scrubs? Do you love them, hate them? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a lovely week so far! I still can’t believe it’s June. 😛

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Lip Paint in Nude-Ist – Review

Oh dear I can’t believe I haven’t written a review since before I went on holiday! The review was back in August and I do apologise for how long it’s taken me. I’m sure there are various reasons, mostly being too busy and to be honest a little bit too miserable to wear any lip products, which makes me feel sad.

I’ve been at my new job a week now and I can safely say I love it and wearing my lipsticks again is back, and that in itself makes me so happy! I haven’t yet ventured into wearing dark lipsticks but give it time… I’m sure I soon will when I feel comfortable!

In the meantime I dug out a lip paint that I picked up in September and have been meaning to review for quite a while now. I’ve felt a mixture of thoughts about this lip paint and after my holiday I put off using it for a while due to that. Of course I’ll go into that in more detail as and when I can throughout this review.

For now grab a not hot drink because it’s bloody freezing today and I hope you enjoy my review.

I’ve wanted to try one of the L’Oreal lip paints since they first came out, but I could never find a shade that I really liked the look of. I did notice Nude-Ist through the advertisements in Boots but I still wasn’t sure about it due to it being marked as a nude shade. I’m not a fan of nude shades AT ALL! However when I read Emily’s review of this over at her blog The Mini Mermaid. I loved her review so much of it and she included swatches, which encouraged me to swatch this myself and ended up with me buying it.

Although Nude-Ist is a nude shade, it does look more of a purple grey shade to me. Let’s just say that if it was shouting out nude, I wouldn’t buy it!

I want to start off but addressing one of the main issues I have with this lip paint and it’s nothing to do with the product itself… When I bought this all of the tubes in the display were scratched, I even grabbed one of the tubes from the back and it was the same, so I bought that one. None of these were protected in plastic either, so I didn’t know if I was picking up a new one or a tester, which was sort of annoying. When I got it home and tried it, it looked like it had been used due to the screw cap inside the tube being covered in the product. The tube also didn’t feel very full, as if it was half empty. I was meant to take it back to the store but ended up leaving it, as I bet they wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it.

This put me off using the product in all fairness, but it’s been okay. I have noticed a few issues though when I first bought it, but I don’t know if this is due to it actually being a used product or just the product in general. I’ll go into this as the review goes on. For now I’ll talk about the packaging itself.

It’s very different to most liquid lipsticks and lip paints. This one comes with a fluffy doe foot applicator which is my favourite to use when applying these sorts of lip products. Although I don’t like the style of the tube due to it not being see through it, I do like that you can squeeze it and thus get more product onto the applicator.

The product has a smell that I’ve noticed in previous L’Oreal lip products, including one of the lipsticks I bought and reviewed back in 2014, which you can read here. It reminds me of Parma Violets, which I’m not the biggest fan of. Due to the smell it does put me off wearing this lip paint if I’m being sensitive. There has been a couple of occasions where I’ve worn this and the smell has been so strong on my lips that when I’ve been breathing and talking through my mouth it’s made my throat sore due to the scent. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t strong or heavy by any means and when I’ve re worn this again recently I’ve not encountered these issues again… So I’m not sure what it could be. Maybe I had applied too much of it on my lips.

This is definitely creamy in texture and due to that is so comfortable to wear throughout the day, as well as easy to apply! It’s also great to apply slight for a lighter colour, or heavier for a stronger colour payoff. I always go for the latter!

It’s meant to be a matte lip paint and due to the cream texture it sort of is, especially when it’s dried down a little. For a matte lip products it’s certainly comfortable to wear and that is always a bonus!

I find this wears really nice and I only really needed to top it up at work after I’d eaten my lunch. I drink various hot and cold drinks throughout the day now so doing wear tests are better than they used to be in my old job. This still wears well though even after various hot drinks.

This isn’t a liquid lipstick and won’t outlast a kiss test! This will transfer and the sight on my work mug (which is Adventure Time! :P) was crazy! This didn’t affect the colour though, which was great news to me.

This removes really well and just needs a baby wipe to remove, or just your make up remover. I have used Vaseline and baby wipes before, but either way it won’t leave a stain behind or your lips feeling sore, which is always a winner!

I do love Nude-Ist as it’s the perfect autumn and winter shade! I can honestly see me wearing this loads when the weather is colder due to how comfortable it is to wear. I also love how it’s not an “in your face” shade, but shows off my love for purple lipsticks!

As I always do (in traditional There Might Be Coffee fashion…) I’m showing off what the product looks like will full coverage, as well as what it looks like when it’s worn down.

With full coverage

With full coverage (my favourite picture! :D)

Worn down

I don’t know if I’d pick up anymore of these lip paints however, I’d definitely repurchase this shade but I think I would only pick it up in store if it had a secure wrapper on it. I don’t trust to buy another and for it to have been possibly used.

After reviewing this I really want to wear it tonight now, but I don’t think I can be bothered… As lazy as that is! 😛

Have you tried any of the L’Oreal lip paints? If so what did you think of them? Which shades do you have or want? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time take care all and I hope you have an awesome weekend.

L’Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Liquid Care – Review

I don’t feel like I’ve written a review for aggggges, which of course sucks! Probably due to lip issues again as my lips appear to not be 100% healed, sadly. BUT I recently bought a product that NEEDS to be reviewed as soon as possible. 😛

I couldn’t remember when this came out in the UK but it feels like AGGGGGGGES ago! From what I could find on their Instagram page it said March 5th 2017 that it was first being spoken about… But I’m unsure if this applies to America, or Europe… I know it’s been  out at least a month because my friend Claire has been using it that long, PLUS I’m sure I eyed it up that long ago in Boots!

ANYWAY I finally decided to pick it up on a trip to Boots and I’ve used it for about a week now and I can safely say I love it and it needed to be reviewed.

First of all I’ll talk about the product itself.

Hydra genius is a liquid care moisturiser which you use on a daily basis in the morning and/or evening. I picked up the normal to combination skin as I have the latter, an oily t-zone and dry cheeks and chin.

I’ll type up what it says on the packaging as it’ll explain the product itself  better than I will. 😛

The Liquid Care; Fresh as water hydrating as a cream. Locks in Moisture for 72hrs. Enriched with Aloe Water & Hyaluronic Acid. Instantly Refreshes. For Normal to Combination Skin. Inspired by Asian skincare, L’Oréal Paris Laboratories introduces THE LIQUID CARE. It delivers pure moisture that penetrates quickly, deeply and continuously – without overloading the skin.

INSTANTLY REFRESHES. Immediately absorbed, the water-like texture rehydrates and reinvigorates the skin.

INSTANTLY LOCKS IN MOISTURE. The forumla penetrates deelpy for a healthy-looking glow.

72HR RECHARGE It releases continuous hydration and drenches the skin with moisture for up to 72 hours.

How to use: Every morning and evening, alone or after your serum, apply one pump to the face and neck. Massage in circular motions for better absorption. Use instead of your daily moisturiser.

You get 70ml of product in the tube and I’ve found a little bit goes a long way! I’ve seen people on Instagram using three pumps but I’ve found one to two is enough for me! Three is a bit overkill I find.

I’ve been applying this when the weather has been really warm in the mornings before work and in the evenings after using a face mask, both sheet and clay. I’ve found it’s given my skin a real treat more so in the evenings as part of my pampering routine, which feels lovely!

This doesn’t have a heavy scent to it which is great but it smells so refreshing and that alone I am in love with! It smells of aloe vera of course due to the aloe water ingredient. I can’t stop smelling the back of my hand after taking the pictures for this post. 😛 It reminds me of holidays in Fuerteventura.

As we all know in the UK it’s been REALLY HOT this past fortnight so our skin has been in need for cooling down, especially the face for myself. Alongside the hydra genius I’ve been using my twin-ball facial massager from The Body Shop loads lately and it works so damn good with hydra genius! The metal balls feel cooling on the skin and that mixed with the cooling sensation this moisturiser leaves too it just feels amazing. I highly recommend that facial massager, I’ll leave a link to it here.

I did notice a change in my skin after a week though to be honest. Not in the sense of moisturisation but in the sense of how it has helped with my oily t-zone. I’ve found that it doesn’t look as shiny and like I’ve dipped that entire section near a fat fryer. To be honest my t-zone isn’t bad, I mean it could be worse but when it’s warm it’s just not as good as it could be. You know? xD

I know it sounds really daft but even the packaging itself pleases me and reminds me of a Korean beauty product, which is what inspired L’Oreal to create this in the first place. I just love how to it a gorgeous and summery turquoise colour and it kind of reflects the ingredient aloe vera really. Well I think so anyway. 😛

Hydra genius does remind me of something from years before that I used to use, but to honest I prefer the hydra genius, which I’ll explain. The product I’m talking about is another product by The Body Shop, it’s the Vitamin E Aqua Boots Sorbet. It costs £14.00 for a 100ml jar and a little bit of it goes a long way. It’s definitely like a sorbet but is of a gel and lightweight consistency. This being said it’s thicker than hydra genius and does feel like you need to put a little bit more work in to make it sink into the skin. I wouldn’t fault it though, it’s a great product to use if you need to feel cooled down. I reviewed it when it first came out back in 2014, which you can read here.

This is the perfect product to use during the summer when the weather is hot and also an awesome product to take away to hot climates for holidays. I know I’ll be picking one up for when I go to Fuerteventura, but this being said they probably already have it for sale over there.

So what are my overall thoughts about this product? It’s pretty damn amazing to be perfectly honest with you! I didn’t actually think it would be as great as it is, but it’s wonderful. It might be a light weight moisturiser but it really does do what it states it will, all whilst being cooling and comfortable on the skin.

Although I would use this in the colder months, it’s been invented for summer really and it will definitely work best when there’s a heatwave.

Although I picked this up in normal to combination skin, you can also get it in normal to dry skin and sensitive skin. I was stuck for choice on which one to pick up, but I’m glad I went for the one I did now as it really has helped my combination skin!

Although this is usually £9.99, Boots have an offer on where you can pick it up for £6.66. I had a look to check the prices in Superdrug but it doesn’t look as if they stock it, which is a surprise!

I would say if you like the look of it, pick it up ASAP as I’m sure that discounted offer won’t last forever, sadly. I’m going to pick up a couple more bottles when I get paid next. I hope the offer is still on then.

Will you be picking up hydra genius? If so which version will you get? Do you already own it? If so what do you think? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time all, take care and I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
