Meccha Japan – Review and Haul

Guys I cannot tell you how excited I have been to write this review and haul! I have literally had the items I’m going to be talking about with you sat in the box they arrived in in anticipation! 😛

In 2021 I decided that I wanted to explore my options when it comes down to buying kawaii goodies from Japan, such as the Pokemon center, Nintendo Tokyo, Nendoroid figures and more. I’d heard about Meccha Japan for quite some time, but never really thought about buying from them before as I always get anxious when shopping with new places based in Japan. I decided to go for it though last month and ordered myself some Pokemon plushies, as well as some of my favourite Japanese candy. All items are soda themed by the way, which I thinks pretty cool. 😛

I wanted to write a review all about Meccha Japan, as when I searched online for reviews via blogs and YouTube, I couldn’t find anything! No one I knew at the time of making my purchase had ordered from Meccha Japan either, but as they had great Trustpilot reviews and you could pay via PayPal (always important for me!) I decided to go for it. Spoilers, my experience was pretty good. 😛

So, sit back and grab a hot drink and maybe one of your favourite plushies to cuddle as I share with you my thoughts on Meccha Japan, as well as the soda themed goodies I bought.

For those of you who may be asking who Meccha Japan are a Japanese online shop who sell exclusive items that only come from Japan, which range from Pokemon, Sanrio, Studio Ghibli, Nendoroid figures and even Japanese food! All items are ready and available on the website, so now requesting items or trying to purchase through third parties.

I discovered Meccha Japan in 2020 when I came home from Japan and was after some items from the Pokemon Mofu Mofu Eievui collection. I found Meccha Japan through Google searches and had them bookmarked since.

Recently the Pokemon Center in Japan announced they would be adding more plushies to their Saiko Soda Refresh line, including Psyduck, Mew, Marill and Chikorita. I fell in love with the Mew plush especially but Marill’s cute little face definitely caught my eye too! I couldn’t decide between which to order, so I really went for it and ordered both, calling it an early Christmas present to myself. 😛

One thing I wanted to mention and show here is how well packaged I found everything to be! The box wasn’t too big for the goodies I ordered, as well as a fair cost for airmail, which arrived a week after it being sent. The cost for all my goods to be shipped was £11.54 which I found really good considering. A lot of people may feel this is a lot, but considering it arrives in a week, I’m not complaining!

The Mew plush is a gorgeous Barbie pink colour, with huge cobalt blue eyes and the CUTEST tag design I’ve seen since the Eeveelution Poke Dolls. This is a really nice sized plush for a collector, especially if you love Mew and the colour pink as well. At the time of purchase this cost me £11.32, which is a complete bargain! I couldn’t not pick up Mew, considering it’s one of my favourite Pokemon. I’ve really loved the Saiko Soda Refresh collection, but just never really “loved” anything from the collection enough to buy, until now. This Mew plush was my reason for finally taking the plunge for making my first order with Meccha Japan.

This is the first (and probably only) Marill plush to come to my Pokemon plushie collection and it’s so BLOODY CUTE! Literally, “It’s so fluffy I’m going to die!” feelings came when this arrived! I ummed and ahhed a little bit about buying this plush, but due to the price at the time (same as Mew at £11.32) I thought it would be rude not to buy it and I’m so glad I did, as since then the price has increased. I only assume this is due to these plushies selling out and being harder to get? I especially love it’s confused and surprised looking face, which is so cute! Everything about the Marill Saiko Soda Refresh plush works and I don’t think they could have picked a better Pokemon for it. I especially love Marill’s tail too, which is really springy and cute, definitely something different for my collection. Like Mew, the artwork on the tag is so adorable!

Alongside the Pokemon plushies, I also ordered myself some of my favourite Japanese candy, Bourbon Fettuccine Gummies in soda flavour!

I discovered these ramune flavoured sweets in Japan in 2020 and fell in love, so when I found these on Meccha Japan, I made sure to order a decent amount… Aka five packets. I had ten in my basket originally, not going to lie. 😛 These are chewy strips that are a aqua blue colour with a sugar coating and taste of ramune, my favourite! These are stupidly cheap at just 96p a packet (at the time of ordering)! Some stockists in the UK are selling these over £3.00 which is a joke. I’ll definitely order some more of these on my next order from Meccha Japan, it would be rude not to.

Overall I was really happy with the service from Meccha Japan! Their costs are extremely fair, the delivery costs were too and overall I was just happy with how everything arrived too.

I’m already planning to order from them again in the near future and have some goodies bookmarked for next time, including, Pokemon Mew Cookie Roll Tin and Pokemon Fit Phanpy Plush.

Have you ever purchased from Meccha Japan? If so, how was your experience and what did you buy? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time all, have a great weekend and see you next week. 🙂

Pokemon Centre Lifesize Detective Pikachu Plush

I cannot tell you how excited I have been for this plush to arrive from Japan and YY Kawaii this month. To make matters worse I had to wait almost a week to get this from the Post Office as I missed delivery and was only able to pick it up from the collection office this morning.

Since I got this cutie home I have been in love and so has Dane in all fairness. I just knew I had to share this plush with you all today, especially with how excited I was for Detective Pikachu hitting cinemas a couple of weeks ago. I even wrote a wish list Wednesday post about it just a few days before the release date and this plush was featured on it.

I knew I wanted to pick something up from whatever the Pokemon Centre decided to bring out for Detective Pikachu but I was surprised at the announcement of a lifesize Detective Pikachu, but knew I had to have it.

Just to announce this now, this lifesize plush is now sold out and isn’t easy to pick up now and if it is it’s not cheap! I’ve found it online for over £100 already and it’s crazy! I paid £60 for mine (not inc postage on that price) and whilst I know a lot of people will comment how this is a waste of money, or far too much, it is so worth the price to me.

This really is lifesize with a height of 50cm from the tips of the ears, down to the toes. It’s so squishy too, which makes it perfect for cuddling. It’s also really soft to the touch, which makes cuddling it even better in all honesty. Everything about this plush is cuddly, even in the arms, ears and tail. I don’t know if you can tell from the above image but this plush is so soft to the touch. It’s definitely comforting whilst cuddling it due to this. It’s just so incredibly soft and I’m a massive sucker for anything like that as I find it can help my anxiety if it’s ever really bad.

Just all the little details of this plush are gorgeous, the main one I notice being the the cheeks where Pikachu’s red patches are. These aren’t a piece of material stuck on, but instead the colour has been added on with paint, dye, etc. Overall the fact is so sweet and the eyes are huge, which is good considering the size of the plush! I think the only issue I have (when looking close up) is the mouth is wonky… But this isn’t anyone’s fault really.

One thing I really love about this plush is the cute little feet! These are so small they aren’t fully noticeable at first, but when looking closer at the plush, they are adorable. I just had to show them on the post.

Of course it wouldn’t be Detective Pikachu without his deerstalker hat! I didn’t think this would be a plush in itself, but it is which is pretty good. I honestly thought it was going to be hollow, but alas it isn’t. It’s attached to the Pikachu plush so you won’t have to worry about it falling off or anything like that too.

Ooo that Pikachu booty! I thought I would show the back of this plush, as it’s equally as good as the front! The Pikachu tail is surprisingly squishy and stays in place really nicely. I was definitely surprised by the tail when I opened the packaging it arrived it and gave it a squish.

The brown sections on Pikachu’s back are separate pieces of material that have been sewn into the plush so not dyed on like the red cheeks.

Of course I had to include some photos of me with my gorgeous new plush! I’m pretty sure you can tell from the photos just how big this plush is compared to myself. It’s bloody big as you can see, but it’s equally amazing.

I’m so in love with my new plush and to be honest with you, for the price I am so glad I bought it! I don’t quite know where it’s going to live in my house yet. It seems to have settled itself on the back of my sofa for now… But I’m sure this isn’t where it will stay.

Have you guys been to see Detective Pikachu yet? If so, what did you think of it?

Have you purchased from YY Kawaii before? I mentioned recently how I have become a brand affiliate for them, which you can read about here. This officially starts on the 1st June, so keep eyes peeled for some exciting posts with them on my blog.

I do apologise for how quiet I’ve been on my blog and social media the past week – I’ve actually been really poorly as well as busy and rest and having social time has been what I’ve wanted.

I’ll try and make sure to keep up with both my blog and social media after the bank holiday! 🙂

Anyhoo, I hope all of my readers are well and enjoyed this evenings post!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a lovely bank holiday weekend so far!

Wish List Wednesday – Deadpool 2

This is a post I never thought I would make and HOLY SHIT am I excited for Deadpool 2! I loved when it came out and I still do love that film. Me and Dane discussed for ages if Ryan Reynolds would return to do another film and we weren’t shocked when it was announced. We booked to go and see it at the end of April and I cannot wait to go and see it next week with Dane. We’re going to make an evening of it, go watch the film and have a meal. I’m so excited!

If you’re an old reader of my blog you’ll know that my boyfriend Dane did a wish list Wednesday post for me 2 years ago when the first Deadpool came out. If you’d like to read that post, you can find it here.

Now we have another film out, I thought it would be fun to do a wish list post myself this time! I’ve wanted to do this since we finally booked the tickets to go and watch the film. I cannot explain how excited I am for it. ARGH!!!

Anyway, enough! On with the wish list!

  • Deadpool 5-Pack Ladies Socks – (link)

First of all for an officially licensed product, 5 pairs of socks for £6.99 to me is such a bargain! I’d love to get these as I’d wear them with my Vans at work for whenever I wear my short trousers (I don’t have a clue what they’re called!) at work. I recently started to wear my Eeveelutions socks like this for work and it’s cool thinking that I’m bringing a bit of my geeky self to work, without being out there about it, you know? Also as well as that these would be great to wear around the house, as well as out and about.

  • Deadpool Mystery Minis – (link)

My friend Sophie brought these to my attention quite some time ago and I’ve always had them at the back of my mind, but when doing some research for this post I stumbled across them and remembered how much I did want them a few months back. I’d still love one or two of these to have on my desk at work and in my car. You can buy a whole set of them from forbiddenplanet.co.uk but I don’t need to do that. I’ll just get myself (and maybe Dane for shits and giggles!) a couple to open for a laugh.

  • Loungefly Marvel Deadpool Tattoo Flash Print Mini Faux Leather Backpack – (link)

Oh man if anyone knows me, they’ll know I love Loungefly. Even recently I bought myself a new Loungefly bag (which you can see and read about here) and I love my Pokemon Loungefly bag to bits (which you can read here)! When I discovered Geek La Chic recently through Estellosaurus I had a nose on their website and discovered that they stock Loungefly bags! I’m not going to lie, they’re bloody expensive in comparison to some websites out there (GAME and EMP come to mind right now) but man, would I LOVE a Deadpool Loungefly bag. Deadpool is my favourite Marvel character, I have to show that love through Loungefly at some point in the future.

  • Deadpool Notebook – (link)

I don’t need a new notebook… But if this was being sold for cheaps I’d want to pick it up to keep on my desk at work. My 2017 journal was Deadpool and I loved it so much! I currently have a 101 Dalmatians Cath Kidston notebook as my 2018 journal right now and sadly I don’t use it half as much as I did with my Deadpool one. I really need to tbf.

  • Deadpool Wipe Your Feet Door Mat – (link)

Me and Dane already own a Deadpool door mat, it isn’t this one BUT I think we both need this one now. We want to get a door mat for our back door and this is just the best timing ever. I’m going to pick it up at some point in the future. Why not have Deadpool for both our front and back doors, eh?

  • Deadpool Katana Umbrella – (link)

I don’t need an umbrella, but how amazing is this one? The picture above isn’t really doing this justice. When you open it you have a picture of Deadpool, of course. The main thing I love about this umbrella is that you can carry it across your body! This would be handy to have when out and about, as the one thing I really hate doing is carrying an umbrella! It’s so tedious and it can’t be just me who feels like that?! It looks like a huge umbrella too, which is even better.

  • Deadpool Geeki Tiki – (link)

This is by far my favourite item on this wish list! I mean, do I really need to say fuck all about it? Look how awesome it is!!! I’m not a massive tiki glass person but only in the sense of I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy one, BUT these are awesome. I’ve already had a nose at what others you can buy, but my favourite just has to be the Deadpool one. I especially love that it’s red, which would match with my kitchen perfectly! I wouldn’t just keep this for alcoholic drinks, I’d use it for any drink imaginable.

  • Deadpool Ladies Eyes Tee – (link)

I’m really after a new Deadpool tee lately. I recently had a look at the ones that Primark have for sale and whilst they’re pretty good for the monies, they’re nothing special. I love both the colour and style of it and it’s one of the best I’ve seen for ages. They do this for men too, as well as women.

  • Deadpool Spatula With Removable Mask – (link)

I think I’ll end up buying this because 1. It’s cheap and 2. It’s absolutely amazing! I mean look at it! I’m never going to say no to adding a Deadpool spatula into my kitchen in all honesty. I might try and pick these up soon and actually gift them to Dane for a giggle for our fifth anniversary next month, which I can’t believe that in all honesty, it’s really flown! I love that you can change Deadpool’s faces on this though, I wouldn’t know which to use really. 😛

So that’s my wish list Wednesday this time and as I’ve already said, it just HAD to be Deadpool related! I’m so stoked to go and watch it next week. It’s officially out Friday 18th but I know it’ll be around from Tuesday 16th so if you haven’t booked tickets or made plans yet, get on it! Deadpool 2 will be here before we know it.

Will you be going to watch Deadpool 2? If so let me know after you’ve seen it what you think! Is there any Deadpool merch you’ve seen lately and think I need to know about? Let me know in the comments, as always.

Anyhoo, I hope you all had an amazing bank holiday Monday, as well as an awesome weekend. Until next time, take care all and see you soon!
