Spring Tag!

Image taken from weheartit.com

I love spring, it means the weather is beginning to get warmer and lighter nights are just around the corner. Since getting back from my holiday I’ve been lusting after warmer weather and not needing to layer up and wear my parka. I just want to wear my pleather jacket again, as well as my dresses and playsuits.

It’s officially spring today! So what better way to start off spring 2015 on my blog, than a spring tag!

1. Favorite spring nail polish?
I like my cream and pastel shades for spring, and I’ll definitely be wearing my Models Own Speckled polishes (post about them here). They remind me of Mini Eggs, which I love. As well as that I’ll probably be wearing my Illamasqua Raindrops (review here) polish as I love that shade for spring too.

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
I’m swaying towards pinks this spring, mostly nude pinks as I’ve recently got into wearing this shade and I really like it. As well as that I always like to rock a hot pink shade too. You can’t go wrong with pink! One I’ll probably wear a lot is Miley Cyrus’ Viva Glam lipstick (review here).

3. Show us your favorite spring dress!
I have so many favourites! I love my Dr. Martens dress (lookbook here), as well as my Miss Selfridge playsuit which I wore on holiday and will continue to wear in the spring and summer in the UK. Here are some pictures of both dresses…

4. What’s your favorite flower?
I don’t reallllly like flowers to be honest and I put this down to having hayfever… But if I had to choose one it would probably be sunflowers and lilies.

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory?
Favourite spring scarf is definitely my white skull one that I bought three years ago (wow time flies!). It’s light and perfect to wear with dresses in the spring and summer.

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)
I am really liking the look of the 70’s trend, as I find the style that was out then was pretty nice and looked lovely. When it comes to make up and hair, I don’t really bother with those trends as I just wear my hair how I want to, and same with my lipstick too. Clothes wise, I am in desperate need of a make over! So I may go down the 70’s route!

7. Favorite spring candle?
I’ll burn anything throughout the year, but I think out of all my Yankee Candles the candles I’ll be burning most throughout spring will be Sweet Strawberry and Sweet Apple (post about them both here). They’re perfect for spring and smell delicious too. They’re simple too which is great for spring.

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring?
Ooo this is a tough one as I have so many I like to wear throughout the year. I think a few that I really like are Paul Smith Rose, DKNY MYNY, Marc Jacobs Oh Lola, Gucci Envy Me, and Lancome Miracle. They’re all light and floral and citrus scents which work lovely for spring.

9. What is spring like where you live?
Erm… It depends I suppose but usually wet! It rains a lot in the UK as it is, but it seems to rain more during spring than any other month. The thing I like about spring in the UK is how great it is to go into the countryside and awe over all the baby animals, as well as take in the sights. I especially love seeing cherry blossom trees.

Image taken from weheartit.com

10. What’s your favorite thing about spring?
Baby animals and cherry blossom trees for sure! They just both make me happy, especially when it comes to photography too. I also like how lighter nights come around and you can go out in the evenings with friends, family, partner, etc and just enjoy yourselves for longer. It’s also nice how it gets a little warmer out too.

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
Sometimes, not like hardcore but I would like to do a lot of spring cleaning this year. I’ve done a little already with my clothes, but I need to do some more. There’s probably loads of junk I could chuck away out of my room!

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?
We don’t have spring break in the UK, but we do get Easter break. I’m not at uni during this time for two weeks and throughout that time I’ll be working, as well as doing my uni work. I may also use it to do my spring cleaning and have a bit of me and blog time. I won’t have any holiday’s coming up, but I would love to go out for a day somewhere nice for my boyfriends birthday, which is just after the Easter holiday’s.

So that was the Spring Tag! I really enjoyed doing it, and I hope my readers have enjoyed reading it.

Who do I tag? EVERYONE! If you take part in this tag, please link me back to said post via a comment so I can come and read it.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you all have a good weekend.

Models Own Sticky Fingers Nail Polish in Sweet Candy – Review

DSC_0001

Recently as you’ll have seen on my haul of Models Own products, you’ll have seen this nail polish in there. The Stick Fingers collection by Models Own is a new addition to their ever growing nail polish collections and is one I’m glad to have bought from.

I decided I was going to go for the 6 for £20 offer as soon as Models Own announced that their Speckled Eggs collection would be a part of the offer and as there are 5 polishes in said collection, I just had one more product to pick up. I didn’t really want any lip products and as regular readers of my blog will know, I don’t wear any other make up other than lip and nail products. So I left off ordering for a while so that I could have time to think what other product I could pick up.

After seeing Brit Nails review and swatches of the Sticky Fingers collection, I knew what I wanted to add as my sixth item! I also knew which one of the seven polishes in the collection I wanted, Sweet Candy.

As I just mentioned there are seven different nail polishes in this collection, Pastel Petals (which comes in Green Gladiola and Lilac Dream), POW Nails (which comes in Red Alert and Black Magic), Bows (Pastel Pink), Blobs & Drops (Snow White) and finally the one I have which is Sweet Candy (Nude Beige).

As I mentioned before Sweet Candy comes with a Nude Beige nail polish, as well as with some stickers that you apply to the nail. Each polish in the Sticky Fingers collection comes with these and due to the theme of sweets and candy, mine came with stickers related to these, such as ice cream, sweets, candy, candy floss, doughnuts, cake, cupcakes, cupcake sprinkles, lollipops, candy canes, as well as two cute little gingerbread men, which I doubt I will EVER use!

Now enough of the minor details! Let’s get really into depth about the nail polish itself, as well as how the stickers apply!

The nail polish is Nude Beige (sorry I know this is the third time mentioning this now!) and applies to the nail beautifully in two coats. One coat COULD be enough but as I wanted the colour to be pigmented I went with two to be on the safe side. Personally I felt that this dried with a slight gel feel, which I really did like.

Lasting power was really quite good with this nail polish and I didn’t even wear a top coat with it… Well apart from the middle finger that I applied one of the stickers onto. I got a lot of compliments on the polish itself when I went out wearing it and since then I’ve worn it quite a few times.

Even without the stickers this polish would have been gorgeous alone and I can see me wearing it like this in the future, especially for both spring and autumn!

Now onto the stickers! I would have worn a sticker for each nail but I want to make sure that the stickers last, so I decided just one on my ring finger would look gorgeous and alas, it did! The stickers apply really easily and boy, do they stay! I applied a top coat on top of the sticker mind to ensure to give it some staying power but I probably didn’t need it to be fair.

The way you’re meant to apply the stickers is to paint your nails as usual with the Nude Beige shade and when it’s dried you apply your stickers to the nail and hey presto, you’re done! Of course apply a top coat if you do so wish.

I won’t lie, a part of me did think that the sticker would fall off within a few days and begin to peel away but hell no, this baby stuck! When I sadly had to remove this nail polish for work, the polish itself came off with a few twists in my nail remover pot but no matter how much I scrubbed with cotton pads and twirled my nail around in the pot, it wouldn’t budge! In the end I had to pick off the sticker with my nails, which wasn’t so bad considering! It shows their staying power, which is pretty awesome!

Overall I LOVE the Sticky Nails collection and although this is probably the only nail polish from the collection I’ll have, I think it’s the best one of the bunch as the stickers are just so cute and due to the gingerbread men and candy canes as stickers of choice, this polish can be used at Christmas too.

Here are some pictures of my nails with Sweet Candy applied!

Models Own Sticky Fingers nail polishes cost £6.00 each and are available from Models Own website, as well as from Boots stores.

P.S. This is my 300th post on my blog! HORRAY!

March Favourites 2014

DSC_0005

I’m sorry to say it (like I do on pretty much every favourites post) BUT I can’t believe we’re into a new month already and the fact that it’s April already is somewhat scary, but not so bad at the same time. I’m really excited that Spring has started and quite frankly I can’t wait for Summer next. I’m bored with cold weather now, I want some sunshine so I can wear my dresses, baggy t-shirts with my skinny fit jeans, and my skate shoes for a slouchy look…

However this post is getting off track, this is my favourites from the last month, so let’s get on with them before I start talking about clothes! xD

DSC_0006

  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.

Another beauty product that my Mom has given me… I know I say this a lot but I seriously don’t ask her to buy me these things, she just buys them and ends up giving them to me to try/use as she finds another product to lust over! I love her for it though, and my skin does too. 🙂 BUT this cream is beautiful and I am really glad she gave it to me. This is an anti-aging cream and whilst I’m only 24, it’s good to protect my skin from aging now whilst I still have the chance to, so this is a great cream for that. As well as that this cream has lots of good things about it! First of all I want to comment how lovely this cream smells. I hate when face creams smell gross and chemically, as the last thing I want to apply to my face is something that has a smell that makes me gag and I have to keep sniffing for max ten minutes after applying. It has a delicate floral scent to it, and due to it being delicate it isn’t a strong smell either, which is an added bonus for myself. The cream is light and gel like but still very moisturising which I like, as due to my combination skin I hate thick creams as they never seem to sink in! Plus with a gel style face cream a little goes a very long way! This has certainly done wonders for my skin the past couple of weeks of using it and I recommend it to anyone who is after a high brand moisturiser. I love this face cream and I can see it reappearing on  my blog in the future.

  • Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Bath Cream.

I love a good bath like any sane person and I’m always on the search to buy and try out new bubble baths to use after a long day, or at the start of the day to get myself ready for one! When this bath cream popped up in my bathroom at the start of the month I knew I would love it! I’ve used Imperial Leather’s Japanese Spa range before and I would be lying if I said I didn’t like it all that much. As regular readers will know from my Japanese Series (posts here, here, here, and here) I love anything Japanese and due to this containing ingredients related to Japan, I knew I would love this bath cream straight away! It contains green tea (yum!), rice milk and jasmine, which are all good at soothing the skin, as well as relaxing the mind, which is what I need after a long day or week after work. I love to use this one in the evenings after a close shift at work, as I’m usually shattered and in need of some TLC. After using this in the bath my skin felt soft and smooth, as well as smelling gorgeous! This smells really floral and fresh which I liked! I have another one of Imperial Leather’s bath creams in my bathroom cupboard, so I’m excited to try that one out once this ones finished. 🙂

  • The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector (mentioned here and here).

Ever since discovering this hand cream before Christmas last year, it’s been a staple for my hand bag ever since! I love this hand cream and it’s been a life saver in the mornings before work when I forget to put any hand cream on before leaving the house! Not just in the mornings though, but throughout the whole day, whether I’m working or not. It always stays in my hand bag as it’s just my favourite hand cream to go to when I’m out and about. It’s a thick hand cream, designed for people with very dry skin and due to my on and off eczema on my hands, I indeed have very dry skin! My eczema has eased a lot now that the winter months have come and gone but that doesn’t stop me from having dry hands, however Hemp Hand Protector is a life (well hand) saver and there’s nothing that beats it for me when I’m on the go! It does have an odd scent to it, but it’s nothing that I can’t handle. This is featured on My Top 5 Hand & Foot Creams post, so make sure to go and check it out for a more detailed review on it, as well as a swatch of what it looks like!

  • Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence.

Another product given to my by my Mom! We love Philip Kingsley products in this house and as she ordered herself some new shampoo, she received this hair spray free, which she kindly gave to me. This is a lovely product to use on my hair and a real treat to be honest as whilst my hair is really long and taken good care of, I never really use hair masks, conditioners, or anything like that! I’ve been using this once, sometimes twice a week on my hair after washing it. You spray it onto wet hair through the middle of your hair and on the ends and without washing it out, use whatever heat you wish on your hair. I don’t use any tools on my hair, just my hairdryer so I apply this before I blow dry my hair. My hair feels and looks gorgeous after I use this product and it does feel like a real treat for my hair! It also smells really fresh, which I like as nasty smelling hair products aren’t exactly a treat are they… More like a torture for your nose! I feel this really does give my hair that oomph it needs mid-week and at the end of the week when I wash my hair. I think I would buy this product in a full size bottle as it’s just a lovely product to use for my hair.

  • Thierry Mugler Angel EDP (mentioned here).

I have to say going through my blog and finding that I haven’t spoken much about Angel on here since purchasing in 2012’s sales, is a big shock to me! I LOVE Angel and the fact I haven’t spoken about it much is rather shocking, and disappointing to myself. Angel is one of the first perfumes I smelt and fell in love with, thanks to my Mom. With my first proper job and the New Year sales shouting “BUY ME, I’M HALF PRICE!” I couldn’t resist the Angel gift set and I left the shop a mixture of excited and worried due to how much it cost at the time. Over a year later I don’t regret buying the gift set at all and I don’t have much of this perfume left, lucky for me though that I have a refill bottle! ANYWAY… I’ve been in love with Angel this month gone and have used it most days at work. It’s been rather warm lately and as it’s a perfume I can wear all year round, I decided to keep Angel in my bag for the majority of March and I’m glad I did! A couple of sprays of this and you’re good to go for most of the day and when I wear this for work I get a lot of compliments from customers. Angel is a very unique scent and one I know I’ll love for my entire life. I’ve recently been trying out the EDT version of Angel and although I don’t necessarily prefer it to the EDP, it does make a pleasant change and I can see me picking the EDT version up in the future for the summer months when I don’t want something too strong on my skin. I have a 25ml size bottle and although there isn’t much left now (MAX 20%) I can’t believe it’s lasted me over a year. Shows what a great perfume it is! 😀

  • Easy Nails Fast & Fruity Nail Polish Remover.

This isn’t a well-known brand nail polish remover pot, but it’s better than the well-known ones, that’s for sure! Just yesterday I had to pick myself up a new pot of this, as my current one is falling apart due to wear. I picked this up a while ago in Body Care for less than a £1.00 and since then I have been in love with using it. It smells of yummy peaches which is a definite bonus and not only that it ACTUALLY removes all my nail polish in max 7 twists of my nail. It has a spongy inside, as well as plenty of nail polish remover and with some turns of the pot, or your nail your nail polish will be removed! It doesn’t quite remove glitter nail polish, but I find that if I twist my glitter covered nail around in the pot for a while, remove, and then apply a cotton pad covered in nail polish remover to the nail, the glitter comes away in one easy rub. I’ve tried Bourjois nail polish remover pot before and I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s crap… REALLY CRAP and it makes me somewhat angry that I wasted nearly £5.00 on it when I picked up this beauty for less than a £1.00 and it works 100 times better! Oh well, I guess you live and learn eh? Just so you know too if you’re thinking of picking this up, Home Bargains sell it for less than a £1.00 too, which is where I picked my new pot up from today.

  • L’Oreal L’Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick by Color Riche in Ruby Opera (mentioned here).

I heard about these liquid lipsticks from L’Oreal a couple of months before they arrived in the UK thanks to Eating Lipstick over the pond and although she didn’t rate them highly, I still wanted to give them a go, especially Ruby Opera, which is a gorgeous true red shade. At the moment I’m loving my red shades for lips and it’s all I’ve been wearing during March! Red really does suit my skin tone and as my lips have been a tad on the dry side on and off this month I’ve found myself reaching for Ruby Opera more so than any other lip product. I don’t want to go into too much detail about Ruby Opera here as I plan to review it this month at some point so I want to save all the details for then. I will say however what a gorgeous glossy lipstick this is! The texture of this and application is more like a lip gloss than a lipstick but it has the staying power of a lipstick, this being said I do find I have to reapply this after a few hours if I’m drinking a lot, but with a lip liner underneath I have no problems. These come in a lot of shades and I’ve already got my eye on another one… Which I would have bought yesterday if I had of had 20p extra points on my Boots card! But oh well, I can keep saving those towards a new perfume. 😛 This is a great liquid lipstick and I love it so much and recommend them to everyone who wishes to try something different.

  • Models Own Sticky Fingers Nail Polish in Sweet Candy (mentioned here).

Although this is a very new purchase, I haven’t been able to stop wearing the nail polish in this set on my fingers and toes! It’s called Nude Beige and when applied to your nails it looks glossy and almost gel like. I wore this last Thursday and it looked gorgeous, I was sad to have to take it off for work the next day. I applied one of the cute little stickers on my ring finger, which refused to come off, that isn’t a bad sign but next time I’ll be tempted to leave it on there. 😛 I recommend these nail polishes to anyone who wants to try something a little different as they’re definitely that and for £5.00 you won’t be breaking the bank giving these a go. I can’t wait to wear this nail polish again and I can safely say that I think it’s going to become a favourite for spring and summer this year.

  • EOS Blueberry Acai Smooth Sphere Lip Balm (mentioned here).

When my friend Amy came to visit me in Birmingham a month ago we wandered off around Selfridges to look at MAC, Illamasqua, as well as lots of other high brands to drool over, but I gave into one of my items from my March Wish List by buying this lip balm and I’m SO glad I did! I did somewhat worry to myself that I would buy it and not use it after a while but I find that I can’t put it down and I use it at home, work, on my days off, before bed, just everywhere, whenever and however I can! It smells of a blueberry green tea I drink, which is lovely and it also feels gorgeous on the lips. It does help keep them soft and smooth, the only thing I dislike about this is the price, seeing as it’s £5.99! But well worth the money if you ask me. Aside from that, the only other thing I sort of dislike is people commenting and asking me what I’m applying to my lips, which is more annoying than anything, but with a short explanation, their questions and confusions are answered.

  • Nintendo 2DS Handheld Console in White & Red. Captain America bought separately (mentioned here and here).

Okay now I know this isn’t a beauty related item but I HAD TO mention my Nintendo 2DS here as since buying it it has become something I play on everyday if I can, and right now I always make sure to make time to play it. I mentioned on the first post mentioned above how I had wanted one for ages and a very hungover and tired me decided to take the plunge and buy one, seeing as  my boyfriend was. Now we play on our 2DS’s together and whilst he has three games, I still have two, Pokemon X and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I already want another game and I know that won’t be the last, as the Nintendo Store has loads of games I wish to get my grubby paws on! I love my 2DS so much and I really can’t stop playing games on it. ^_^

So those were all my favourites for this month!

What were your favourite products, beauty or anything for that matter? Let me know in the comments down below!

If you have any questions about any of the products I mentioned in this months favourite, please feel free to ask.

Until next time, take care all and here’s to April, hope no one got fooled.

Models Own Haul

DSC_0004

Okay I know I’m meant to be on a spending ban, but I just couldn’t let this offer by Models Own pass me by!

At the moment Models Own have their 6 for £20 offer going on pretty much everything (well there are some things not on the offer…) and it was included on the Speckled Egg collection, which I’ve wanted since they announced it earlier this month. I calculated whether or not it would even save me money to just buy the 3 shades I wanted the most, but alas it wasn’t worth not taking up the offer and so, I went for it!

DSC_0006

The Speckled Egg collection were all popped into my shopping basket and I had the choice of one more product to pick up, seeing as there are only 5 polishes in the Speckled Egg collection.

There are five shades altogether, Dove (pink), Goose (yellow), Magpie (green), Duck (blue) and Swan (purple).

DSC_0007

So after seeing the polishes I also popped one of the Sticky Nails polishes into my shopping basket too. I opted for Sweet Candy as I thought it was the cutest of the bunch! The polish for this is shade Nude Beige and comes with lots of cute sweetie themed stickers! This was my favourite due to the fact you get some cute little gingerbread men on the sticker sheet, which I doubt I will ever use.

Upon ordering these I had the money to pay for them there and then but as I decided to pay with PayPal it enabled me the choice to pay for them two weeks after I ordered them. I love that PayPal does this, but I only thought they did it with eBay. So if you don’t have the cash straight away but will have it two weeks later, you can order away with no worries, which is awesome!

I ordered my polishes on the Friday after a long day at work and to my surprise they arrived on the following Wednesday morning. I wasn’t due at work until later that afternoon so I got to have a good stare at the polishes, but sadly due to my job I can’t wear polish for work… However I did paint my toes with these and they look gorgeous, so much so I can see me painting my toe nails with these for quite a long time now!

DSC_0001

DSC_0002

DSC_0003

I’m really quite pleased with how long these took to arrive as it didn’t even take a week and Models Own did state in my receipt via email that it might take longer than usual for my order to arrive, due to how popular the 6 for £20 offer was turning out to be. So well done Models Own, this was my first order from them and boy am I impressed! Not only did my order arrive quickly, but it also arrived in lovely packaging and it made a nice change. I can’t see me getting rid of the box it came in! xD

As I don’t work weekends, I FINALLY got my chance to try these out, after what felt like years to finally try! I didn’t paint my nails all too great (well not photo worthy on this post anyway… Well maybe just to show them off!) as my boyfriend and I were in a hurry to drive over to Coventry after I finished work. So anyway! I painted my nails with two coats of each shade but I think I could have done with three coats, so I think next time I wear these I’ll be trying it them all as three coats.

I have found one problem with the Speckled Egg polishes and that is not all the brushes are the same… I don’t know if I’m the only one who has noticed this, but it’s certainly affected/affecting the way I apply some of the polishes. The two shades that are having this issue are Swan and Duck.

So far my favourites are seeming to be Dove, Duck and Magpie.

FYI I WILL be reviewing the Speckled Egg polishes as they’re all gorgeous when applied to the nails. So keep your eyes peeled for those. 😉

I still haven’t tried the Sticky Fingers polish I ordered, but I shall be very soon as I really can’t wait to give it a go!

Have you taken part in Models Own 6 for £20 offer? If not do you intend to and if you did, what did you buy? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and I’ll see you again soon!
