Shuffle The Music Tag

Image taken from weheartit.com

Recently the beautiful and gorgeous lady that is Stacey tagged me to take part in the shuffle music tag! I love being tagged to do things, especially random tags like this one! I know I partake in enough tags to last me a lifetime, but I don’t recall ever doing a shuffle music tag and if I have, it was a VERY long time ago. I love listening to music, it’s what makes me who I am and over the years has shaped who I am too! It’s thanks to my older brother, as well as people I looked up to growing up that introduced to a lot of the artists I listen to today.

I’m not going to lie, I’m just gutted there was only 15 numbers, I kept wanting to add so many trackers after the initial 15! GUTTED! πŸ˜›

As I said before, I was tagged by Stacey over at Simply Stacey for Shuffle The Music Tag. You can read Stacey’s answers here.

Again, thank you so much Stacey for tagging me! I loved reading your answers before I went ahead and took part in the tag! Now, let’s take a look at the rules:

  • Mention the creator of the tag and link to their blog
  • Thank the person that nominated you for this tag and link to their blog as well
  • Shuffle your entire music library (no matter how old songs the songs are) and talk about the first fifteen songs that come up ( anything like why they are there , if they signify something, any story, why you like them, etc.)
  • Mention the songs as well as the artists
  • Tag 7 people or more to do this tag and please let them know

And now it’s time to press β€œShuffle”, and the first 15 tracks on my shuffle list are…

1)Β Lily Allen|Chinese

Oh man I remember when Lily Allen first came out, I fell in love with her music and sadly after this album I didn’t like her anymore. This is from her second album and I listened to it loads when I was in my final year of college and first year of university. I still really love this song as when I listen to the lyrics it reminds me of me and Dane when we first moved into the house and I was in a dark place. That and it’s just such a sweet and nice song, one you can definitely sing along to!

2)Β The Offspring|(Can’t Get My) Head Around You

This is a band I definitely grew up listening to and they hold a place deep down in my heart! I remember discovering them through the game Crazy Taxi and it was only when I asked my brother who they were that he put one of their albums on for me to listen to. I only own the greatest hits, but I need more music of theirs.

3)Β Mylo|Zenophile

Mylo is an artist I discovered when I went to college and it’s an album I always stick on whenever I’m on holiday, or having a “party” at our house as it’s such a chilled album. There isn’t one song on this album that I would skip because they’re all so amazing! I love chillout music so much and this is definitely my go to album when I want to listen to any. This song is so relaxed and chilled to listen to as well. Definitely give Mylo a listen if you want something chilled.

4)Β Knife Party|Resistance

If there’s a band I love, it’s Knife Party! They blew up years ago and are pretty much Pendulum, BUT BETTER! If you want some music you can listen to whilst driving on the motorway, or something to listen to before going on a night out, then Knife Party is the band to go to! When I was younger and went out clubbing pretty much every night (whilst working may I add! This wasn’t whilst I was a student!) this was my go to artist to listen to before going out. This is one of the newer tracks and as soon as “this is a knife!” hits, the bass just comes in and you can party! It reminds me of the sort of music people listen to whilst off their heads on something to give the more energy. πŸ˜›

5)Β The Bravery|Unconditional

Aww The Bravery! This is a band who I really liked, but not as much as I thought I would! I remember getting this song on a compilation CD from a friend and I loved it so much. Years later I bought the album and I was so disappointed! I remember as a kid reading about the rivalry between these guys and The Killers, The Killers back then were one of my favourite bands and their first album has a place in my heart. I still love this song so much though and it reminds me of when I was younger.

6)Β Nirvana|Heart-Shaped Box

Oh Nirvana, a band who I was brought up listening to, but due to my age I never understood them. When my brother and I started hanging out (I was 7 and he was 25) he tried to introduce me to everything he loved and it really did rub off onto me… But it only sunk in years later. Star Wars was one of them, Nirvana another. I just love their music, as well as the lyrics and this is probably my favourite Nirvana song.

7)Β Daft Punk|The Game Of Love

Daft Punk are one of my favourite bands and they’re also on my “band to see before they/I die” list. I was so damn excited back in 2013 when this album was announced and released and I listened to it daily and very loudly may I add. I loved it so much I even wrote a post about it on my blog! I’ll link it here if you fancy reading it. I really love this song on the album, it just sounds so heartbreaking and yet beautiful at the same time. It’s a very chilled song.

8) Queens Of The Stone Age|I’m Designer

Another band who are on my “band to see before they/I die” list! I love Queens Of The Stone Age so much and every time they have come to the UK I’ve not gone to see them! Usually because they’re too expensive for me at the time, they don’t play in Birmingham or because I have no one to go with! I’ve been listening to them for years and Josh Homme was one of my first crushes, aww baby Nat’s first ginger crush too (I wouldn’t even put it that way but Dane is a ginge… :P)! The album Era Vulgaris is definitely my favourite and I used to listen to it constantly when it first came out. Again, another album I hold close to my heart.

9) cKy|Tripled Manic State

cKy are one of my favourite bands and also one that I got to check off of my list of bands to see this year! They were amazing live and my 13/14 year old self was in love the whole night, especially when I got to meet Jesse Margera afterwards! But I love this song so much, it’s definitely an album that I ended up listening to loads when I was in college and just dealing with my depression. It was just like a comfort blanket that I would listen to on my way to and from college.

10) Eight Legs|These Grey Days

This is a song that used to be in a binge drinking advert in the UK and as soon as I heard it, I fell in love and took to YouTube to try and find out what it was! Thankfully I discovered it and thanks to the early days of MySpace, I got to download it for free and officially from the bands page! I still have it to this day and I love it still.

11) +44|Chapter XIII

I’m sorry Blink 182 fans, you will hate me BUT I loved +44 and I now love the new Blink 182 stuff and it’s all for one reason… NO MORE FUCKING TOM DELONGE! I’m sorry but he’s the reason I fell out of love with Blink 182 years ago. πŸ˜› When I was in my last year of school a guy a year above who I was friends with introduced me to +44 WAYYYYY before they even brought their first single out. I fell in love with them and as soon as their album came out, I downloaded it. This album definitely reminds me of when I was really starting to become who I am today. It holds a place deep down in my heart.

12) RushJet1|Son Of Flynn

This is actually part of a chiptune album that came out with LOADS of Daft Punk songs on it and this actually the second album. It’s a huge compilation and this is just one of the artists who features on it. This is by far my favourite song on the second album and is one I listen to repeat if it comes on in the car.

13) Bloodhound Gang|Farting With A Walkman On

I know a lot of people who dislike Bloodhound Gang (because of their stupid lyrics. Fuck it man, I’d prefer that to depressing love songs ALL THE DAMN TIME!), Dane being one of them but they’re one of the bands from my childhood, purely because of The Bad Touch. This song used to come on the dance games back in the day and I remember my one cousin loving it. We called it The Waffle Song because we didn’t know what it was called! Years later, thanks to cKy and Bam Margera I found out who Bloodhound Gang were and it’s been a massive love affair since then. This (AGAIN!) is another band on my bands to see before I die list. Every time they have come to the UK I haven’t been to see them and I regret it so fucking much.

14) Oasis|Where Did It All Go Wrong?

Oasis is another band I was brought up listening to and this was the first album I owned by them and due to that it is definitely my favourite. This in turn is one of my favourite songs on the album and one I have sang to various times, whether I’m upset, happy, or just normal and fine. Of course Noel Gallagher sings, so it sounds lovely. πŸ˜› Although me and my one brother don’t talk anymore, Oasis and Nirvana both remind me of him and I guess it’s him introducing me to such amazing music that’s shaped me to who I am today…

15) Pharrell|Frontin’ Feat. Jay-Z

Oh man, remember when Pharrell was in N.E.R.D. and they played funk rock? Yeah me too! πŸ˜› This was when Pharrell really went out and did his own thing and I fell in love with it! The tune was catchy, the singing was chilled and nice and it just worked. Especially for the time when it came out as well! I still love listening to this song today and it’s definitely a classic to listen to during the summer and especially on holiday. Oh and Jay-Z is on it, so it’s got to good, right? πŸ˜›

WOOHOO that’s all 15, even though I wish it was 50! πŸ˜› Please go and give the songs above a listen if you haven’t heard them/of them before. If you’ve heard of any of the bands or songs before, please let me know if you like them down below, as well as the artist/band.

I really enjoyed giving this tag a go and I even typed up some of my answers when I was at work as I’d shuffled the iPod on my way to work today to get the last 5 songs! πŸ˜›

Now it’s my turn to tag people:

Albums I’m listening to this summer!

Yes it’s time for another music post, but it can’t NOT be done when the weather outside is so beautiful. I haven’t really been able to go out and enjoy it as much as I would have liked as I have a few things going on right now but otherwise I’d been enjoying just seeing it looking bright and sunny outside of my window.

As I travel quite a bit these days to visit my partner (boyfriend sounds so school girl, don’t you think?) so during my train journeys I’ve been listening to various albums and some have stood out whilst the weather has been so pretty.

So I thought I would share with you what albums I’ve been listening to at the moment, enjoy!

Destroy Rock & Roll – Mylo.

This has been one of my favourite summer albums for nearly ten years. It was released in 2004 but I picked up my copy in 2005 after falling in love with the tracks; “Drop The Pressure” (don’t be mistaken by “Dr Pressure”) and “In My Arms”. They were catchy, had those annoying repeated lyrics that everyone knows the words to and were just great for listening to on hot summer days. The tracks on this album are all different from one another but work alongside one another at the same time. There isn’t a track no one can not like on this album and to this day I can’t really pick a favourite from off of it (probably “In My Arms”). It’s sad to say that this is the only studio album that Mylo has released as I craved for him to make another, he has however done some exclusive albums for Mixmag, but I don’t own these and I haven’t listened to them either. Fingers crossed for the future though!

In Your Honor – Foo Fighters.

The year this album came out is one of the best years of my life. It was when I was finally discovering which music I would come to love and enjoy for the rest of my life, the year I saw Bob Dylan (what a legend!) live with my Dad and the year I also go to see these guys live with my brother. It was an amazing gig and is still one of my favourites to date. I mentioned this album briefly in my music series as one of the albums that defined my taste in music. This album is one of those that you listen to whenever but I find it more meaningful during summer but that’s because that’s when I bought it and when I listened to it the most, mostly when I visited my brother and he would have it playing whilst we had a BBQ or drinks. My favourite tracks from this album are “Best of You” and End Over End” but I love all the tracks from this album. I listened to this when traveling recently and I forgot how much I love this album and whilst some Foo Fighter fans weren’t keen on this album, it’s by far my favourite.

EP – Beth Ditto.

This was out by Beth Ditto about a year before I discovered it and when I did I fell in love and it’s something I’ve listened to on a weekly basis since downloading it. It’s only four tracks long and I just wish there were more as the album just leaves me craving more songs! I’m surprised I haven’t mentioned this on previous music posts, but maybe I hadn’t downloaded it by then. As most know, Beth Ditto is in the band The Gossip and is their singer, I don’t know if she created this EP because she wanted to spread her wings and venture off on her own or just because she fancied a change, but either way I love it and I hope she records a full album in the future. I discovered this album through her tracks being featured on the video she made with MAC to go alongside the make up collection she made for them. The track was called “Open Heart Surgery” and it’s an amazing track. If you like The Gossip and/or electo-pop then I recommend her music.

† (Cross) – Justice.

This was a hard choice to make as I love both † and Audio, Video, Disco are both as good as one another. I finally decide on this one as I’ve found I listen to it more whilst traveling in my car and it has more listens on my iPod. There are some amazing songs on this album like; “Genesis”, “D.A.N.C.E.”, “Tthhee Ppaarrttyy” and “DVNO” to name a few popular ones. Two of my favourites from off the album are; “Phantom” and “Phantom Pt. II” they’re such amazing tracks and should be played in clubs. The day I’m in a club and these are played one after the other, is the day I scream the loudest I ever have and run over to the dance floor! I only really started to listen to Justice a year or so ago and I have grown to love them a lot. Their music is just different but also reminds me a little bit of Daft Punk, which regular readers will know is one of my oldest and favourite bands. Check out Justice if you like Daft Punk, you won’t regret it.

Random Access Memories – Daft Punk.

Majority of what needs to be said about this album can be found in the huge review/post I made about it here when it came out. All I’ll say is that this album is amazing and is definitely my album of 2013 and one I’ll call my summer 2013 album too. Probably sounds daft (appropriate wording FTW!) but I always pick an album that symbolised the summer and winter months of each year, as well as an album for the whole year. This album is just amazing, seriously go and read the review for more about this. Favourite song from this is “Instant Crush”.

Tongue Tied EP – Iwan Rheon.

Some of you may recognise this guys name, he’s well-known as Simon Bellamy in Misfits and he’s also in Game of Thrones as Ramsay Snow. Like most people I discovered him in Misfits and since then I’ve watched most of the TV shows and films he’s acted in. In 2010 he brought out his first EP, Tongue Tied which only has four songs but they’re all so beautiful and summery songs. I haven’t listened to this EP as much as I have recently and it think it’s because I was too busy listened to other albums, songs, EPs, etc but this one has slowly turned into a summer favourite.

So those are my albums for this summer! Are there any here that you like for summer, or any other season?

What are your favourite songs for summer? Let me know in the comments down below.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, I know I intend to after a rough week, so see you next week!
