February Favourites ’18

It’s now March and we are well and truly having a second winter instead of starting spring! We had snow only a couple of days ago, which pissed me off something rotten. I want longer days now to involve some nicer weather NOT SNOW AND ICE!

Hopefully with March here we will start to have some spring days on their way too now. I’m excited for going on long walks in the evenings after work with Dane, as well as on the weekends.

For now however, it is time for February’s favourites!

  • Lush Supertramp Bubble Bar.

Sadly I don’t have this to show you anymore as it’s alllllllll gone! I love Supertramp bubble bar from Lush, it’s definitely one of my favourite products. I’m not a massive fan of earthy or grassy scents but I adore this! Whenever I use it it really does lift any sort of head cold I may be suffering from. It’s definitely a great bubble bar to use in the colder months and with all the bloody snow we’ve had, this has been such a lovely pampering one to use in the evenings after work. This is an Oxford Street exclusive but you can pick it up on the website which is awesome! I usually buy loads of these whenever I go down to London, but thankfully I won’t have to do this anymore.

  • Romantic Bear WOW Long Lasting Lip Color in Watermelon.

I have been meaning to reviewing these for the longest time, but as of yet I haven’t gotten around to it. I haven’t used any of my lip peeled stains for a while but recently I just fancied giving them a go. I’ve been using various colours, but the shade Watermelon is the one I go to the most. It’s a light blush pink shade which I love wearing for work. I apply lip balm over the top and my lips stay lovely and soft all day! These are really great products for the price too, I can’t wait to finally review them this month!

  • Barry M Under The Sea Nail Paint in Butterflyfish and Jellyfish (review here).

I couldn’t decide between the two but if there’s a nail polish I’ve been wearing loads this past month, it’s these two beauties by Barry M! They’re from the new Under The Sea collection, which I reviewed recently and linked above. They’re gorgeous nail polish shades to bring us into spring… When it FINALLY gets here! I couldn’t decide between the two shades, although I’ve always loved Jellyfish more.

  • Elemis Collagen Cleansing Balm.

This is an old favourite that I come back to time and time again! My mom bought me a new tub for my birthday, which I was really grateful for. I’ve been using it a couple of times a week when I feel like my skin really needs it. My skin has been really bad this past month, which in itself sucks as I constantly look like a spotty teenager! This balm has really helped with soothing my skin when it feels dry, but I definitely don’t feel the need to use it daily. This balm is amazing for removing make up too, apparently. As regular readers will know, I don’t wear a full face of make up so I wouldn’t know. My mom is the one who has told me it’s great at removing make up. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Nivea Cashmere Indulgent Moisture Caring Hand Wash.

We use these hand washes at work and when picking up some new hand wash last month I decided to grab one of the ones we use at work, as well as a couple more of the Nivea hand washes. This is one of the ones I’m using at the moment and it’s amazing! It’s a lovely thick hand wash, well more like a cream really and smells delightful! Usually my hands will flare up with eczema with hand washes towards the end of the packaging, but this one I’ve not had ANY issues with! Savers sell these for a ยฃ1 each so I definitely recommend them if you fancy giving something new a go.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – KonoSuba: Godโ€™s Blessing on this Wonderful World!

This is an anime that Dane has loved since it first came out and I never understood his love for it until recently! He got me to start watching it with him and it’s a mixture of funny and random as hell! I bought him two of the girls (Megumin who is the red witch character in the gif and Darkness who is wearing yellow in the gif) Nendoroid characters, which he loved! So with finally having most of the characters it was time to watch the anime he loves. It’s just so random and hilarious! Although I’m happy Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid won the anime comedy award at The Anime Awards recently. I do feel like KonoSuba deserved it more.

Favourite Film – A Silent Voice.

I know this isn’t exactly a new film and I know I’ve mentioned it before but I gave this another watch in February and I forgot just how much I loved it. This time I watched it in dubbed and although I prefer the subbed version, it was still lovely to watch. I just forgot how much I loved the story, as well as the manga which fast became one of my favourite manga series to date! If you haven’t watched this and you want to, DO IT! You won’t regret it! Word of warning, it’s not the most delightful and merry of anime in the world and it can be incredibly depressing. It made me cry at the end when I watched it recently… Oh what a weed I am. ๐Ÿ˜›

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: Kanna's Daily Life Vol. 1 by Coolkyoushinja and Mitsuhiro Kimura

Favourite Book – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Kanna’s Daily Life Vol. 1

I picked up a couple of new manga books in February but only read them as the end of the month was drawing to a close! If there is a manga series (and anime) that I have fallen in love with since 2017 it’s Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid! It’s so adorable, funny and kind of cringey all at the same time, but that’s why I love it so much. This new spin off series about Kanna, the youngest dragon is ADORABLE and if I do say so myself, drawn so much better than the original! I already can’t wait for volume 2 to come out in June, which I already know will be here before I know it.

Favourite Song/Album – Keane Hopes and Fears and The Killers Hot Fuss.

These are two albums I listened to quite a bit throughout February and I think it’s mostly due to the fact I fancied a blast from the past. These were two bands I listened to growing up and these two albums were my life at one point. They both came out in 2004 which less than a month apart from one another and I remember buying them with my pocket money from Sainsbury’s after school. I mostly listened to these on my drive to and from work and there would be tracks coming on that I found myself saying, “Holy shit! I forgot this song even existed!” but finding myself remembering the lyrics as I sang along. Let me also add that I had the BIGGEST crush on Brandon Flowers growing up and it was thanks to Smile Like Your Mean It where my crush on him began, as well as for guyliner. OH and of course it was the song that introduced me to the band. ๐Ÿ˜›

Favourite Game – Erm…

So I haven’t really been playing any games recently. Not for any reason in particular either other than I can’t be arsed… I’ve probably played the odd game with Dane or a couple of mobile games but nothing to write home about, sadly. I know we both want to get a couple of new games this month so I’m pretty sure my March favourites will have a game in there! ๐Ÿ˜›

So those were my favourites from February! I can’t believe we’re already into March and here’s fingers crossed for no more snow and more sunshine.

What were your favourites from last month? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a lovely week.

Barry M Under The Sea Nail Paint in Butterflyfish and Jellyfish โ€“ Review

Urgh just a couple of days ago I had written half this blog post and popped out to see some people. Then come this afternoon I have come to continue with said post and it’s gone. It didn’t save and I have done everything I could possibly do to get it back, with zero luck. URRRRGH! So I am having to start again. Yuck.

As many of you may have seen on my February wish list that I’ve been eyeing up the new Barry M nail paints for quite some time now, in fact every since they announced their new Under The Sea range back a month ago via a live Instagram video. I watched a couple of times in awe of the new nail paints and knew I needed themย  in my life.

When they finally came out a couple of weeks ago at the end of January/start of February I picked up two shades that I had been lusting after.

I’ve been using this on and off since then and it’s definitely something I will wear loads when the spring and summer months hit us! Of course I had to share my love of these through a review.

I picked these up on an offer in Superdrug. If you spent ยฃ7 you would get a free Strobe Cream. WOOHOO! Even though I don’t wear highlighter I’ll definitely use this over liquid lipsticks to give them a pop! Otherwise these cost me ยฃ3.99 each, which for a nail paint is a really good price in my mind.

Under The Sea nail paint is a duo chrome nail polish that shifts in colour in the light. There are currently four shades to choose from, I picked up two of them.

Butterflyfish on the left and Jellyfish on the right.

Jellyfish not in direct light

There’s Angelfish (a pearly pink shade which shifts to silver), Pinktail (a pink shade which shifts to orange), Butterflyfish (a blue shade which shifts to pink) and Jellyfish (a purple shade which shifts to green). The latter two are the shades I picked up.

Before I talk about the shades themselves and how the formula works, I want to quickly touch on the design of the bottle lids. Barry M aren’t really OTT when it comes to their packaging designs for their nail paints and that isn’t exactly a bad thing. Good looking products are always a must, especially if you keep them in your handbag and show them off when out and about. But who takes nail paints out with them? ๐Ÿ˜›

These however are aesthetically pleasing to look at when they’re in your nail polish collections! They have a white lid with metallic blue sea designs on them, which includes seaweed, starfish, seahorses and fish. Very cute! It also makes them easy to find when looking in your collection for these to dig out and use!

Now that I’ve briefly spoken about the design of the nail paints themselves, I’ll go into the formula and look of the polishes when worn!

One thing I love about the Molten Metals collection is how thick the brushes are for them all and this is the same when it comes to the Under The Sea nail paints too! It means you donโ€™t need to keep applying loads of little coats with a thinner brush. Instead you only need one or two strokes of colour applied, which is great! I have small nails so this means I only need two or three max.

The pigmentation of this isn’t anything “amazing” but it definitely does the job of being a lovely iridescent polish, no matter how sheer! The colour shift still works with one and two coats as well, although I do prefer three coats to give it a stronger pigmentation to the colour.

Butterflyfish – one coat

Jellyfish – one coat

I find with this polish that you can get away with one dip into the bottle to get a good finish all over, but due to how sheer it is on the first coat I found I dipped into the bottle a couple of times, just to ensure I had enough on the brush to give an even coat all over the nail. I found throughout all coats of polish that I had to keep dipping into the bottle to make sure I had enough on the brush to get enough on the nail. This was a tad disappointing, but so worth it!

Butterflyfish – two coats

Jellyfish – two coats

With a second coat you really start to get a good colour payoff and pigmentation! As I said before however, I do prefer three coats of polish when it comes to these polishes. I just love a strong look to the nail, especially now I can wear nail polish alllllll the time. ๐Ÿ˜›

Butteflyfish – three coats

Butterflyfish – three coats

Butterflyfish – showing the pink duo chrome effect

Jellyfish – three coats

Jellyfish – three coats

Jellyfish – showing the green duo chrome

I’ve seen people posting on Instagram of them using these polishes over different coloured polishes including black, white and shades with the same base shade(s) as the polish in use. For example people used a light blue cream shade with Butterflyfish over the top. It looked gorgeous! I’ll definitely be giving this a go myself with a black polish underneath!

NOW with the chip test! I never use a base or a top coat and this is for a few reasons… 1. I don’t own one right now and 2. Every time I ever do or have my polish never dries and doesn’t look good after a while.

I wore both of these shades to work and after four days they started to chip. This wasn’t a bad amount of days really considering I type loads at work, write a lot and do bits and pieces around the office. I also found that cleaning the bathroom after applying these polishes lasted REALLY WELL! I was pleasantly surprised!

Overall what do I think of these nail paints then? Well, they’re bloody stunning and I love them so much! They’re definitely going to do well throughout spring and summer this year and this type of finish with nail paints and polishes is on the rise!

Jellyfish on the left, Butterflyfish on the right.

I can’t decide which of the two shades I love the most though to be honest! Out of the two I love the look of Jellyfish the most, but when wearing them I feel like I look at Butterflyfish more! I couldn’t tell you really to be honest. I think they’re both gorgeous in different ways! Butterflyfish seems more shimmery to me, whilst Jellyfish is more metallic looking. Either way, they’re both gorgeous! Fuck it, I can’t pick one!

If you do want to pick one up for yourself, you can find them on Barry M Cosmetics official website!

What do you think? Have you given the Under The Sea nail paints a go, or do you want to? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time take care all and I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend!

February Wish List ’18

I can’t believe we’re already into month 2 of 2018! To be honest I’m not going to complain as January sucked! For the first couple of weeks of January I was poorly with various different things and in the end me and Dane pretty much worked out that I had the Aussie flu that was going around, which of course sucked! I booked 4 and a half days off work for my birthday and not only was I poorly for the whole of it, but Dane was also away for work so I was on my own. YUCK!

ANYWAY enough of me moaning, this wish list is one I was rather excited to do as there’s loads of awesome bits and pieces on it, however I am so stuck for money lately and especially since my car has recently been MOT’d and taxed! But my little red bug is my baby and I must take care of it, because let’s face it, it takes care of me 5 days a week. ๐Ÿ˜›

Random but I decided recently that I will no longer be showing the prices of items on wish lists. The reason for this being is that the price changes CONSTANTLY! Especially on websites such as Wordery, which I have featured twice on this post with the manga books. Of course I will continue to leave links for items so you’ll soon find out how much items are for yourself. I will still be talking about what a “bargain” something is or if it’s expensive. So you’ll get an idea from that alone.

So, let’s not delay anymore, on with the wish list!

  • A Polar Bear In Love Vol. 2 – (link)

As regular readers will know for my birthday at the start of January I received A Polar bear In Love Vol. 1 from Dane (you can see what else I got for my birthday here) and I read it within a few days as I was so excited to! I now really want to get Vol. 2 which is released at the end of this month. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the story as it’s just so damn cute! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Pusheen Trinket Tray – (link)

I’ve wanted this cute little trinket tray for a while now but every time I contemplated buying it I changed my mind due to monies and that I didn’t exactly need it at the time. NOW however I really do need it as I want something to keep my jewellery in, such as the new ring I received for my birthday, my watch and my Thomas Sabo bracelet.

  • Kimi No Na Wa/Your Name Bracelet – (link)

For my birthday in the evening me and Dane ate Japanese food and watched this film. After watching it I had a nose on eBay to see what merchandise is around from the film and I found this bracelet which is what Taki wears in the film. I’d love to have something like this from the film and I’d wear it all the time and for just ยฃ3.99 it wouldn’t break the bank to buy either. I’ll see if I fancy getting it throughout the month.

  • Pusheen Door Mat – (link)

Me and Dane decided recently that we need another door mat, but this one would be for inside by the back door. I want something nice to match up to our awesome Deadpool one by the front door! I’ve had my eye on this one for a while and now it’s available to buy from Truffle Shuffle I really want to get my hands on it as soon as possible. I’m pretty sure we’ll be picking this up when we can.

  • Barry M Cosmetics Under The Sea Nail Paint – (link)

Barry M are really on it lately with their releases and it includes some of their newer products they released at the end of January! I’ll be mentioned two here but this is one of them which is a mermaid inspired nail paint collection called Under The Sea. In the collection there are four shades Angelfish (pearlescent orange/nude), Jellyfish (purple/green), Butterflyfish (blue/pink) and Pinktail (pink/orange). Jellyfish and Butterflyfish are the two shades I’m after as I find they’re the prettiest and most aquatic/mermaid looking. I love wearing nail polish these days thanks to work so I’m always after getting pretty polishes to wear now! Barry M are really good with their nails paints so I’ll definitely be giving these a go.

  • Persona 5 Morgana Nendoroid – (link)

If there is one Nendoroid I REALLY want right now, it’s Morgana from Persona 5! I was actually hoping Dane would have bought me him for my birthday but most websites in the UK who sell Nendoroid’s don’t actually have him until this month so… I recently shopped with Gamersheek and this is who I’ll be hopefully buying Morgana from them this month as I have a 10% discount code too! I just need him in my collection, especially being a huge Persona 5 fan! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Kanna’s Daily Life Vol. 1 – (link)

This was actually a manga Dane had ordered me for my birthday but the website stopped selling it and cancelled his order. NOW it’s back on the website I’ll be ordering it this month to read at some point. I love reading Miss Kobayash’s Dragon Maid and I’m currently all caught up until Vol. 6 comes out in May, so I may as well read Kanna’s Daily Life next. ^_^

  • Barry M Cosmetics Holographic Lip Topper – (link)

Alongside Barry M’s Under The Sea nail paints they’re also bringing out these lip toppers which I’d also love to try! I keep lusting after the Lime Crime lip toppers but they’re expensive to be honest with you and if the Barry M ones do practically the same job then win win! I definitely want the blue and the pink shades.

  • Chamilia Disney Lady and The Tramp Charms – (link) and (link)

When I saw these advertised about on Instagram I was SO HAPPY! I have been waiting for Lady and The Tramp charms for way too long and at ยฃ35.00 each they’re a bargain too! Apparently you can put these on Pandora bracelets but to be honest with you I’d fancy picking up a Chamilia bracelet for a change from Pandora. They sell Star Wars charms which is AMAZING! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m going to keep my eye on picking these up when I have spare cash.

So there’s my wish list for this month! I’m still saving money or paying for other things so I’ll be watching my money again this month and only buying things I actually need or REALLY want.

What items do you have on your wish lists this month? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

Barry M Molten Metals Nail Paint in Holographic Nights – Review

Oh man I have fast turned into a holographic queen and years ago when I wanted holographic goodies they were never available, which sucked! It’s a nice change that now there’s a little more on the high street, both fashion and beauty.

Recently Barry M got onto the holographic nail craze that has been around forever in the Indie world. People have only just recently gotten into the craze…

Alongside the new shades they recently added to their Molten Metals collection, they included Holographic Nights, a silver holographic shade. People have gone crazy for it, including myself and I couldn’t wait to pick it up recently.

I heard of it coming out back in February but I completely forgot about it until last week when I was in Boots. I picked it up on their 2 for ยฃ7 offer with another Molten Metals polish. As soon as I got home I took off my previous nail polish and stuck this one on! I knew I had to review it a few days later, I haven’t fallen in love with a nail polish so much for quite a long time. I really hope you enjoy the review and find it helpful!

This isn’t the second holographic nail polish I have owned, the previous being by GOSH and is one that was limited edition at the time it was released. I’m going back years now and as bad as it sounds I still own it. It was a gorgeous polish and went on with one maybe two coats… But it peeled off hours later, which sucked! Since then I have wanted to get my hands on another holographic nail polish which wouldn’t do this. I haven’t 100% found it yet, but for a high street holographic polish this comes in pretty close.

First of all when I picked this up in Boots I thought I had picked up the silver shade in this collection. They look very alike and I’ve read on social media how loads of people have made this mistake and been disappointed. This was a surprise for me to be honest as you would think the rainbow of the holographic would be obvious, but alas it is not. It’s not very easy to see in the bottle unless in the right lighting. The same can also somewhat be said about when it’s on the nails too… But I’ll go into that in more detail.

One thing I love about the Molten Metals collection is how thick the brushes are for them all! It means you don’t need to keep applying loads of little coats with a thinner brush. Instead you only need one or two strokes of colour applied, which is great! I have small nails so this means I only need two or three max.

One coat

One coat

One coat

Two coats

One coat

Three coats

The pigmentation of the polish is amazing though to be honest and I found with 3 coats that I had a really good finish to my nails, which had that gorgeous holographic rainbow on show in the right light!

I found when applying this that you only need one generous dip into the bottle to get an even coverage on each nail. It’s not a thick formula and is pretty thin, but don’t let that fool you! This nail polish really does pack a punch. It also dries really quickly so applying those 3 coats went by really quickly!

I tried to apply it over a black nail polish at first to see if it showed off the rainbow colours better and if anything it made it worse, so applying straight to the nail was perfect.

I wore this for a week and during that week both me and Dane were working hard on the house and even went and visited some friends on their farm! Whilst I didn’t do any hard work the polish still lasted amazingly which I really happy about. This is without a base or a top coat by the way.

I also worried that this would be a bitch to remove due to the holographic side of it, but alas it was really easy to remove which I was really happy about!

I watch and read a lot of reviews on Indie brands and their holographic nail polishes and whilst Holographic Nights isn’t up to their standard it is absolutely amazing for a high street nail polish and it’s the first of it’s kind to do something so well! I know Boots Natural Collection used to have a holographic nail polish… (looks online to see if they still do…) I can’t actually work out if they do… Which is a shame!

Overall I love this nail polish so much and it’s definitely a shade people have been calling out for for quite some time now. It’s amazing that Barry M has opened the horizons for holographic shades. I really hope they see how much people want this and release more shades. I’d love to see a black holographic polish out next.

I just wish I could wear this for work now, it really sucks! I definitely already know I’ve found my nail polish for the whole year now, as well as for mine and Dane’s holiday. ๐Ÿ˜›

You can pick this up now in both Boots and Superdrug for ยฃ3.99 each, or 2 for ยฃ7 in Boots on the Molten Metals collection. If you’re really eager to get one do it quick as these sell out fast apparently.

Have you tried Holographic Nights yet? If so what did you think of it? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time take care all and I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend so far.

April Favourites ’17

Easter holidays are over, all the chocolate eggs have been sold or are still on sale in the shops, and Mini Eggs won’t be back until New Year… This is the saddest thing for me. I fucking love Mini Eggs! ๐Ÿ˜›

But we’re into May now and happy May Day! I’m off work for a change and I intend to spend the day doing sod all and chilling out with Dane. I might make us sausage and mash… Love it!

ANYWAY! With a new month of course comes my monthly posts, including my favourites. April was a funny month, but I discovered a lot of new items this month gone and luckily stuff I needed… Not just buying for the sake of it. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Imperial Leather Marshmallow Shower Cream.

I’ve used this in the past and I’m pretty sure it has featured on my monthly favourites before. It being featured on here again just shows what an amazing product it is! I actually forgot how good it was until Iย recently started using it again. It smells beautiful and leaves your skin not only smelling yummy but feeling lovely and soft too. For only a ยฃ1 you cannot go wrong!

  • Vaseline Lip Therapy with Cocoa Butter.

It’s shit to admit but my lips are STILL bad. Well they appear to be on the mend now and better than before but still bad… Urgh. I finally got some decent answers from two doctors recently and was given the right treatments. Alongside using the treatment creams I’ve also been slathering on this Vaseline in between applications to keep my lips nice and moist… Ewย I hate that word but it’s the only word I can use right now and it be accurate. This tub is for around the house, as I bought an aloe vera one for out on the go and for work. I don’t like that one as much as the cocoa butter though to be honest. I find the smell to be fresh, but that doesn’t apply when on the lips. I feel like the cocoa butter scent is lovely both in the jar and when applied to the lips. You can never go wrong with cocoa butter to be fair! I love this better than the original Vaseline though to be honest! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Gel.

I needed a new eye gel last month and wanted to make sure to get something that would cool my eyes whilst hydrating them throughout the day. I wouldn’t usually go for a low budget eye gel due to the whole, “It’s not going to do sod all…” but I thought for ยฃ1.50 it wouldn’t break the bank to give it a whirl! I hate eye creams and have always opted to buying gels if I can. This one is amazing and really does soothe and cool tired eyes either in the morning before work or after a long day in the evening. Either way I love this and I think I’ll end up buying another soon for mine and Dane’s holiday in September!

  • Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paint in shade Copper Mine.

When I was off work during April I decided to paint my nails as due to the job I do I’m not allowed to wear it whilst working. I have a couple of these Molten Metal polishes but this one is my favourite. I find the copper shade suits my yellow skin tone the best and it just looks gorgeous too. The formula is lovely and it lasts ages before chipping! Even whilst doing loads of work on the house last week it hardly chipped. This was without a top coat too! I’ll be reviewing these very soon as they deserve a review. I plan to get myself the new holographic shade that recently came out. These are on 2 for ยฃ7 at the moment so I’ll be getting that and another shade.

  • Radox Feel Heavenly Bath Soak with Coconut & Milk.

Finally we have a bubble bath on my monthly favourites. I still use my Lush products, don’t get me wrong but more often than not I find if I overuse them it actually causes more harm to my body than good. That and I try to make my money last at the moment. ANYWAY! This bath soak was bought on a whim that I wanted something nice and light to use on days off work and before bed. This is a gorgeous bubble bath where a little bit goes a long way, but I always add a generous amount to my bath to create LOADS of bubbles. I always find this leaves my skin lovely and soft after use. It’s amazing.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – Sirens (UK version).

This is a show I recently started to re-watch. It was out YEARS ago… (looks on Wikipedia) Holy shit 2011 was when this show first aired. I feel old. Very old. ANYWAY! As the title may give away this show is about 3 paramedics and it shows what they get up to during their shifts. It also shows a couple of members of the Police and Fire Service too. This is fiction I’ll have you know and is actually a comedy. I love it so much though, it just makes me laugh. There are some serious notes in it however and with that it does remind me of Only Fools and Horses. One moment it can be side splitting funny and the next bringing a tear to your eye. If you’ve never watched it and you fancy giving it a go then I think you’re only options now are going to be watching it online for free, or as a shitty YouTube upload. I’m being naughty and watching it online for free… Hey! I’d buy it if I could!

Favourite Film – Your Name (Kimi no Na wa).

Last month me and Dane went to go and watch this after he found out it was showing in the Mockingbird cinema in Birmingham’s Custard Factory. He booked it that day and that evening we were off to watch it. Oh my God it wasn’t even what I was expecting it to be to be honest. I knew what the basic plot was for the film but it has a lot of twists and such throughout the film. I don’t want to talk too in depth as I worry it could spoil the film for anyone who hasn’t seen it. You can watch a trailer here if you like the sound of it. BUT to be honest if you haven’t heard about it by now, whether you’re an anime fan or not then where have you been hiding? It keeps being spoken about how it’s the best anime film for quite some time. ๐Ÿ˜›

Favourite Book – K-ON!

As regular readers of my blog will know I have been reading nothing but manga since the start of the year and whilst it is an expensive thing to keep on top of, it is so damn worth it! I recently purchased all of the K-ON manga to read and whilst I am only somewhat through the series, I am in love with it. It’s just great to see some of my new favourite anime characters come to life on the pages of the manga as well as through the anime series. I’ll be reviewing in the future!

Favourite Songs – George Michael “Freedom! 90” and “Careless Whisper”.

This is kind of random I suppose but a few nights ago I just started listening to songs from the 00’s… Which led to songs from the 90’s and for some reason that then led me to listen to some of George Michael’s best singles. Of course he died at the end of last year which was a real shame. He was a talented guy in every way! I have always had a place for “Freedom! 90” and I don’t know why… I especially love the music video as I think it’s so clever, alongside the song as a dig at the music industry. ๐Ÿ˜› Thanks to Deadpool now whenever I hear “Careless Whisper” I just think of Ryan Reynolds singing it at the end of the film. HA! ๐Ÿ˜› BUT instead of popping either of the songs mentioned above I thought I would attach Seether’s cover of “Careless Whisper”. It’s amazing in my eyes and they did a really good job!

Favourite game – TsumTsum.

This is a game I have owned for as long as I’ve had my iPhone 6 to be honest… I remember when I went on holiday with my dad in November 2015 playing it whenever we were near a WiFi connection! ANYWAY… This is a game I have been playing nonstop this month and it’s one I always forget that I love to play. It’s a game that you can actually pay to play in Japan as an actual arcade game. I would love to play it like that! I’ve attached a video above of Sharla playing it! It’s just a great, free and relaxing game to play. It’s one of those where you need to match up 3 plus of the same Disney character to get rid of them, get a high score, coins etc. With those coins you can buy new characters etc. If you love Disney and love the Tsum Tsum’s then you’ll love this!

So those were my favourites from April! I can’t believe how quickly the year is going by though to be perfectly honest. Next month me and Dane will have been in our house for a year and I don’t know if I like that or if it scares me a little. Time is going wayyyyy too fast and I don’t think I like that. It also means next month marks our four year anniversary which IS exciting and I don’t mind that. ๐Ÿ˜› It does feel like we’ve been together longer mind.

What products were you loving throughout April? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time take care all and I hope you have a lovely bank holiday Monday. I know I will be. ๐Ÿ˜›

Barry M Matte Nail Paint in Vanilla – review

I know I’m not going to be the first to be ranting about how I love the new Barry M Matte Nail Paints and I know I won’t be the last, but after only owning this polish for three days, I already love it and know I want to own more colours.

I mentioned this in my October wish list recently and whilst I popped in Superdrug earlier this week to get myself some flu remedies, I also picked up this polish. I’ve been feeling poorly this week, as well as pretty down in the dumps so I thought I deserved a treat. Plus my eczema has come back this week with brute force and my right hands knuckles look as if they’ve taken some damage from a fight! Not pretty, so of course I thought some lovely polish would make my hands look less ugly.

Barry M have brought 5 shades out for their Matte collection, Espresso (matte black), Crush (red wine), Caramel (coffee brown), Vanilla (light grey) and Mocha (a dark brown) and as this post titles, I bought Vanilla. The paints are all named after coffee related things, which I think is awesome for myself personally as 1. I love coffee, 2. My blog name and 3. I work in a coffee shop. What’s not to love about these nail paints!?

I stood at the Barry M stand in Superdrug for AGES trying to decide which one to buy, as I’ve got my eye on Espresso and Crush too. I asked one of the service assistants if they had any 3 for 2 deals on, but they said no, which was a shame as I’d have bought Espresso and Crush too if it had have been the case! I was good though and decided to go for Vanilla, the more nude and thus muted colour of the three.

It’s a beautiful light grey shade with an undertone of pink to it, the colour reminds me of a shirt my Dad used to ownย  when I was little so since wearing it I keep thinking of a fond school and Father’s Day related memory. You know when you were at school you would make cards for your parent(s) for special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, Father’s Day or Mother’s Day? Well we were making cards for Father’s Day and our teacher had come up with the idea that we make cards in the shape of shirts. We got to pick whatever colour we wanted to for the shirts, but all the basic colours bored me, red, blue, yellow, orange, green and even purple. I wanted something different, my Dad never did and nor does he still to this day wear bright coloured shirts. The one coloured shirt he ever wore was a purple one I bought him one birthday. Anyhoo, he had this dark grey, almost beige shirt and I asked the teacher if we had any grey card we could use. She brought out some card that was the same colour as Vanilla and thus, this is why Vanilla reminds me of my Dad…

Right I really did ramble there and digress… ON WITH THE POST!

The matte nail paint’s are all perfect shades for autumn and winter and with their matte finish they look really grown up and match the time of year perfectly. I find the shades in this collection are perfect for in the office as the shades aren’t over the top and most of them are nude shades so will work perfectly, no matter what skin colour you have.

Due to these being matte polish, I found when painting my nails it dried REALLY quickly, even when I put on a second coat! I hate waiting for polish to dry and I know with Barry M’s Gelly Nail Paint in Lychee I find with two coats it takes forever to dry and I end up needing to apply a glitter top coat just so it’ll dry on time for me to leave the house.

Staying time is perfect too and as I don’t own any plain top coats that will continue to leave behind the lovely matte finish I didn’t bother to put one on. However I have seen fellow beauty bloggers write their reviews for Vanilla as well as the other matte nail paint’s and have painted their ring finger with a top coat, which left it with a lovely gloss. It looked really nice but I doubt very much I would do this myself as I really like the matte look this polish gives.

The matte nail paints only cost ยฃ3.99 each and before we know it they WILL be on a 3 for 2 offer and quite frankly I can see me buying all of them as I’m already in love with Vanilla.

With Christmas coming up these will make lovely stocking fillers, especially for teenage girls who are into trying out all these new nail polishes with their magnets, sand, glitter, matte, shimmer, gel, oh the list could go on and on!

Keep your eyes peeled on these if you like the sound of them, the place I heard about these first and saw swatches of was over on The Sunday Girl’s blog. Her swatches are great, so if you would like to see what the rest of the shades look like, head over to her blog and check them out.

Quite frankly I love my Vanilla nail paint and I think it’ll be a firm favourite of mine this autumn!

So what do you think of the Barry M Matte Nail Paints? Do you think you’ll be checking them out? Which shades do you like the look/sound of? Let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care and I hope everyone has had a good week!
