Birthday/January Wish List ’21

Happy New Year guys! I hope you all have a great New Years, even if it involved you staying it. Not going to lie, some of my best New Year celebrations have been in my own, or someone else’s home.

At the time of writing this we are three days into 2021 and so far so good. I’m back at work tomorrow (4th January) and I feel rested after doing next to sod all the past eleven days and whilst I’d like some more time off, I do feel like being back at work will start to give me stuff to do again during the day.

As well as heading back to work, my birthday is also looming (6th January) and I’m going to be turning 31… I wasn’t arsed about turning 30 last year, but for some reason adding one more year to that has kind of deflated me a little. ๐Ÿ˜›

2021 is going to be a year where I start to experiment and “live” a little more. I want to do more with my resin making hobby, including starting to create pieces to sell! I’m also toying with starting to do gaming/chat streams over on Twitch… We shall see as this is a big step.

I’ve not set any resolutions for 2021 but I have said I’d like to read more manga, as well as continue with doing my Beatsaber VR workouts. My mom also bought me a bread maker for Christmas so I’ll be making more bread in 2021 too!

I’m not going to do the whole, “things will be better in 2021!” because I’m happy to take it as it comes. If it’s similar to 2020 with the way COVID has been… Then so be it. As long as I can be safe in my home with Dane and talk to my friends and family via Facetime, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger, then so be it!

As it is my birthday in a few days I wanted the first post of 2021 to be a wish list post, with goodies I’d like to pick up/receive for my birthday… Mostly goodies I’d buy myself, especially considering two of the items are this list are things I’ve either pre-ordered or ordered. ๐Ÿ˜›

So, I hope you’re ready to see lots of kawaii goodies! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Her Universe Kiki’s Delivery Service Jiji Hoodies Cardigan (link)

I verrry much doubt I’ll get this for my birthday or with my own money. I’ve spent so much money before Christmas panic buying from American independent artists and with a 6 week wait until payday, I’m kinda poor this month. ๐Ÿ˜› However, I really love this hooded cardigan by Her Universe that I had to mention it this month! I live in cardigans, especially when I’m actually working in the office so I’m always on the hunt for new ones that express who I am, whilst being acceptable to wear. I don’t know if this one would be, but it’s gorgeous. I’d wear it with my tartan trousers, as well as skater skirts and leggings. I’ve never ordered from Hot Topic before, has anyone in the UK before? Please share your experience for the future! However, I may do a big Her Universe order in the future… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • The Sad Ghost Club book by Lize Meddings (link)

I’m a MASSIVE fan of The Sad Ghost Club and view it daily on my Instagram account. The Sad Ghost Club is described as “a club for anyone who’s ever felt sad or lost. It’s the club for those who don’t feel like they’re part of any other club.” and for years it really has helped me when my anxiety and depression are bad and I need to feel less alone. I’ve even sent the page to friends to follow to see if it helps them to feel less alone too. It was announced back in October 2020 and I pre-ordered it as soon as I saw it landed on Amazon. I haven’t read much in 2020 and plan to change that in 2021. I want to spend more time away from technology and with my head in a good manga/novel/comic, including this one. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Pokemon Center Fit Plushie – Dragonite (link) Save 10% from YY Kawaii’s website with the code “YYCOFFEE10”

If there is one plushie I wish I could have picked up last year (as if it’s been a year guys…) when I was in Japan, it’s the Dragonite fit plushie from the Pokemon Center. It wasn’t available to buy whilst we were there and I was gutted. Dragonite is one of my favourite Pokemon and I always have one in my party in the games. I currently have a level 100 Dragonite on Pokemon Shield. ๐Ÿ˜› Anyway, I finally bit the bullet and reached out to YY Kawaii about ordering on with her. It should arrive in January and I can’t wait to add it to my collection! I’m planning to keep it on the top of my plushie shelf alongside the plushies I bought in Japan.

  • Pokemon Mew Funko Pop (link)

I just want to get this out there that the link I’ve attached (Double Boxed Toys) has sold out of this figure…BUT I haven’t found it elsewhere for sale in the UK yet… Anyway, I REALLY need this funko pop in my life! Like Dragonite, Mew is one of my favourite Pokemon and whilst I don’t own or really want any of the Pokemon funko pops, I really want this one. I think it’s a pop I would take out of the box and keep on my plushie shelf alongside all my Japanese goodies. Otherwise, I’d keep it in the box eventually for the day I can have my own desk at home to keep it on. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Animal Crossing Mega Isabelle Plush/Pillow (link)

This is something I keep wanting to pick up… But I keep thinking about money too. As many of my regular readers and friends know, I LOVE Animal Crossing and have done since I first discovered it in 2008 when I played Wild World. With New Horizons releasing, a lot of Animal Crossing merchandise has come out in the UK which is amazing. One of these items includes this amazing Isabelle plush/pillow that I really need in my life! It’s not a bad price currently on the website/store I’ve linked and I do keep umming and ahhing about picking it up. I’m going to wait and see my birthday pass in a couple of days and then toy with whether to order it. It’s available at loads of places so it’s not like it’s going to sell out and then I’ll never get it. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Stami Studios Whale Texting Enamel Pins (link)

Finally we have some enamel pins to talk about. To be honest with you all, I think 2021 is the year where I need to have a declutter of my enamel pins, as well as stop buying so many! I’m actually toying with selling some soon. Let me know in the comments if this is something you’d be interested in seeing. I have quite a few Pokemon themed ones I’m contemplating selling. ANYHOO I’ve really fallen in love with Stami Studios designs this year and some that she has released of late have given me some nostalgic feels. Whale texts are something I used to send to my friends all the time back ten plus years ago off my HTC phone. I loved it and I’d love to do it again this year for fun. Due to this, this is why I’m so in love with these designs. You can buy all three designs separately or together. If these are still in stock at the end of January when I get paid, I’m buying these for sure!

So there we have it guys, my monthly wish list for January, as well as my *gulp* 31st birthday.

One of my friends asked me before New Year what I was thinking of doing for my birthday and I had no idea. I knew I wanted to do some baking (currently torn between red velvet cupcakes and a Japanese strawberry shortcake) as my mom’s birthday is the day after mine. So I would be baking for both of our birthday’s really. Alongside that I’m planning to cook some Chinese food for dinner, as well as make some resin goods on Tuesday night that I can continue with on my actual birthday. I’m excited to just have the day with Dane to cook/bake together and do our one hobby together too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not gutted about having a lockdown birthday because I don’t know what I would have done out and about anyway! If anything it means when everything has calmed down and we start to go back to “normal” I can do something exciting.

Do you guys have much planned during the third lockdown here in the UK? What items do you have on your wish list for January too? I know we’re all skint at this time of year, so have you bought any sales items? Let me know everything in the comments! I love reading and replying to your comments. ๐Ÿ™‚

One more thing to say before I finish this post, I’m taking part in Japanuary over on Instagram! It was created by Cakes With Faces and all you had to do is share a post daily on your social media platform (Instagram for me) with images and some text in relation to the day. I’m really enjoying this challenge so far and it’s keeping my Japan trip alive almost a year on. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyhoo that’s all from me today! I hope you’re all safe and well and 2021 has treated you nice so far. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time, take care all and Happy New Year!

Goodbye 2020!

Image taken from Pinterest

I can’t quite believe a whole year has flew past us as we prepare to go into 2021… Sorry but 2020 was a big year for me for so many reasons but of course it wasn’t a great year either…

2020 was the year I entered the 30-35 tick box and I don’t feel ready to turn 31 next week. :S It was also the year me and Dane travelled to Japan for the first time. It was amazing and I’m so glad we were able to go before COVID started to manifest. I remember my dad messaging me our second week into the trip and saying, “There’s a virus called coronavirus going around Japan. Be careful!” and us shrugging it off. Oh how times have changed, eh?

Going back to that trip, it was amazing and I have clutched onto the memories we made and photos we took to get me through 2020 when I felt rubbish. I’m really hoping 2021 will be better COVID wise as I would love to return back to Japan in 2022, maybe even 2023 if that’s the case.

Cherry Blossom Love GIF

Me and Dane have already said we’d like to go around March/April time to see the cherry blossoms, travel around more (Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Hiroshima) and especially go for Dane’s birthday this time around. We’ve also discussed going for Christmas/New Year at some point too as that would be lovely. We could eat KFC, stay at a private onsen for a few days and again, travel around and have the perfect kawaii/otaku Christmas… But we don’t know when this will be. It’s just an idea.

I wanted to briefly do a bit of a chat about how 2020 was for me overall (including my favourites), mention how December has been and of course talk about 2021 and what I’m looking forward to so far.

I need to get this off of my chest out of the way because it’s still semi ongoing and it’s pissed me off something awful.

I mentioned back in September 2019 on a post (8 Games I’m Excited To Play) about being excited for a game I’d backed on Kickstarter called Calico. The game released 15th December 2020 and was announced on the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. As someone who had backed the game I was pretty meh to discover that people who HADN’T backed the Kickstarter had access to the game before we did and may I add, for less monies… Just felt like a bit of a punch to the stomach. I’m on the Discord channel and started hearing nothing but bug complaints/feedback from people who had been playing the game. Turns out not much testing had been done… Not good! I waited a week for my game code on the Switch, but no sign and I was given excuses of, “we’re new to this, wasn’t aware how long it would take.” etc. Then North American codes were being sent to people in the EU, which of course wouldn’t work. It was just a bit of a shit show to be blunt. I asked for my money back on Sunday, which has been processed and I’m waiting for. I can’t be arsed to play Calico now. It sounds like a rushed out mess and I just don’t want to support a game like that. I’ve heard nothing but complaints from friends about it who have played. I’m happy to have supported the game and help it come to life, but I’m not happy to wait and constantly feel mugged off. The developers have now advised for UK backers to ask for refunds so they can go and buy it themselves on the eShop.

It’s just so poor and clearly rushed out. I was really excited for this game and especially when they announced it as coming out a few weeks back. Dane was away with work and with the game coming out I thought, “Awesome, something to keep me going until he’s back home!” which of course wasn’t the case.

If you’re thinking about getting Calico, get it on Steam if you can. The console versions are full of bugs (I think some may have been fixed?) and from what has been said it can take a while to get them fixed. Or just wait a while for it to go down in price, as I’m sure any bugs will have been amended by then too. I’m not saying don’t support the game, but be wary of the bugs…

I’m sorry if that above has come off as bitchy but I was so frustrated for those two weeks that I just had to be honest with you guys on my experience. I’ve got two other games backed via Kickstarter and from the start I’ve definitely had a better experience with them, so I have very high hopes for how the games will be when they release. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now that little rant is out of the way, I thought I would mention some stuff I have loved this year!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Okay, who DIDN’T love this game in 2020? For some it was a sort of lifeline during the start of COVID, I know it was for me. I don’t play it daily now, but when I do pick it up it just relaxes me straight away and it’s also a game I love playing with my friends online. The Toy Day event on Christmas Eve was so lovely and started to get me in the Christmas spirit. I know a lot of people who ended up buying a Switch/Switch Lite due to the need to play Animal Crossing on it, I even helped two of my friends get a Switch/Switch Lite of their own so they could play!

The Mandalorianย – I’ve honestly loved this series in 2020 and it’s actually one me and Dane binge watched over the Christmas period. I couldn’t get into it last year, especially with our Japan trip coming up so we just… Didn’t get into it. Season 2 is AMAZING though and I was all there for it. I highly recommend watching The Mandalorian even if you aren’t a huge Star Wars fan, as it’s just good all around show that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Plus some of my favourite Star Wars characters make appearances in season 2, which made me so happy!

PVRIS Use Me (Deluxe) –ย Use Meย released this year and I had been excited for this album since it was announced. I discovered PVRIS when I started my job in April 2019 and I have since fallen in love. This album is one I’ve found myself listening to time and time again, whether I’m out and about driving/walking or working in the house. I’ve found myself dancing in the kitchen whilst making a cup of coffee, that’s just how much I love it. My top three tracks from the album are – “Gimme a Minute”, “Stay Gold” and “Loveless”. They’re all such amazing songs, with “Stay Gold” being my favourite on the album… And the one I danced to in the kitchen whilst grabbing coffee. ๐Ÿ˜›

Lyonsleaf Calendula and Marshmallow Balm – This balm has to be mentioned here because it really has helped with my hand in 2020. My eczema/dermatitis is still ongoing and hasn’t improved at all and I’m still waiting to see a specialist. Since about August I’ve been using this balm and it really does help with the dryness and cracking and since using it religiously, my hands haven’t cracked and bled for as long as I can remember. I’ll be continuing to use this for as long as I can as it really does help. ๐Ÿ™‚

Aveeno – I’m just going to add Aveeno as a whole, as this is another product that has really changed my life since purchasing it, in so many ways! I use the intense body lotions on my hands, which has really helped recently and I even bought the shower cream to see if that would help too. It smells delicious and makes my body feel lovely and soft. I highly recommend Aveeno in general, let alone if you have really dry skin like myself.

There are a few things in 2021 that I’m excited to have come up!

31st Birthday – This is actually a week from today and yeah it’s scary how quickly it’s come around! I think for the day I’m going to bake some red velvet cupcakes, play with my new resin molds and get a takeaway. At the time of writing this post, Birmingham has actually gone into tier 4 and I’m gutted. Good job I’d planned to do something at home, eh?

Eight Year Anniversary – I can’t believe me and Dane have been together eight years in 2021… It’s really flew by and I hope we can do something for it in 2021. For our seven year anniversary we went for a drive around the countryside and grabbed a Japanese takeaway on our way home. Who knows what we’ll do this year, but I’m sure it’ll be good. ๐Ÿ™‚

My Chemical Romance in June – That’s if COVID doesn’t come along and cause it to be postponed/rescheduled like it was this year.

Potential planning for Japan trip #2 – This would be amazing to do! I really hope it can be done towards the end of 2021…

Maybe a puppy(?) – We were really close to getting a dog in 2020 but due to the issues we faced with adopting we gave up and said we would wait and either try to adopt again (although doubtful…) or get a puppy in 2021. If we go for the latter, I already have a breeder in mind that we want to go with… We shall see what happens. Getting a pet is a big thing and we need to make sure we’re ready and able to do it.

Speaking of 2021, I alsoย  wanted to mention what posts I am hoping to bring to you guys in 2021, these are just some ideas of what I have swirling around my head. This isn’t definite, as it never is but it’s ideas I would like to get down on my blog eventually. At the moment it’s mostly independent stores I’ve discovered/known about for years and bought from! There are a lot of USA based independent stores mentioned here as due to the changes in the UK with VAT, a lot of them have stated they aren’t able to sell to the UK anymore, so I went all out!

Quirkory – I’ll be writing a review of the Mostari Mystery Pack, as well as the Animal Crossing Gimme my Joycon 2 enamel pins I’ve pre-ordered. They won’t arrive until January/February.

Lunaticgumis – I’m planning to talk about the Puppycat Amigurumi, stickers and enamel pin I picked up a month or so ago. I wanted to talk about the goodies I picked up before Christmas but I just didn’t have time, sadly.

Pikarar – I only discovered Pikarar in October/November time and I’m already in love with their designs and items! I’ve so far made two orders, one being a pre-order for after Christmas. When my pre-order arrives, I’ll be showing you all what I bought! It’s mostly clothes. ๐Ÿ˜›

SleepingWolvesArt – Review where I’ll be talking about some notebooks (which have arrived) and enamel pins (literally just ordered) I’ve bought.

Sugar Bunny Shop – It’s still on it’s way to me but I ordered the Doki Fox sweater I’ve wanted for MONTHS.

So there is a sneak peak of what I will be sharing in the future on my blog! Of course I will talk about other things in between, but until the weeks/months come I won’t know 100% what may come up to discuss. As always I’ll have my monthly favourites and wish list too.

I can’t quite believe 2021 is just around the corner and we’re entering it with practically in lockdown, which sucks. Whatever though, it isn’t going to affect me much in regards to work, or my social life. I’ll just miss not being able to be closer to some form of “normality”.

I’m not feeling glum about 2021 and if anything I’m hoping to grow some of my hobbies, as well as see some of my friends again who I haven’t seen for ages.

What are you excited for in 2021? Is there any specific content you would like to see more of on my blog in the New Year? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time all, Happy New Year for tomorrow/Friday and I hope you’re all safe. ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas 2020 Wish List

Can you believe it’s Christmas Eve already? We all say it don’t we? “This time next year we’ll be doing it all over again!” and here we are. ๐Ÿ˜›

Christmas this year is a strange one for all of us. Last year I wasn’t really in the right frame of mind for Christmas, but that was due to the mixture of excitement and nerves about going to Japan in January. My head was just in a space of preparing for the trip. This year at the time of writing this post (a few days prior to Christmas Eve) I’m not feeling festive… Not even with everyone’s (and my own) Christmas presents wrapped up in front of me, ready to be delivered to their homes. It’s obviously due to COVID but I’m hoping come Christmas Day both me and Dane will be feeling festive and merry as we cook our dinner together, drink as much as we feel in the mood for and just enjoy the day together… Which will be a first.

Christmas to me is about showing your loved ones how much they mean to you, and I don’t just mean with gifts. Christmas is a time of celebration and being together as a family, no matter how big or small. This year is different as some people may be on their own at home or with their small family and cannot be with bigger families this year. I’m sad not to see my parents this year, especially my mom after what a rubbish few months we have had. However, we have a plan and we know it’ll work. We’re just going to Facetime each other when we’re due to open each others gifts and have a drink, etc etc. It’ll be good. I’ve already spoken to my mom this evening (I’m not writing this on Christmas Eve!) and we’re happy enough with what we plan to do.

I have to say, my mom has sent two MASSIVE boxes… I wonder what she’s bought me… ๐Ÿ˜›

I want to add my yearly reminder here about taking care of yourself over Christmas. It’s really hard for people this year with COVID, but I’ve been there at Christmas where my mind is in a dark place and I’ve needed someone to talk to. You are not alone. I’m going to pop some contacts below for the UK of who you can reach out to this time of year. Please use them if you need to, they’re there to help. Plus, my DM’s are always open on Twitter (maybeecoffee) and Instagram (theremightbecoffeeblog) if you need someone to talk to.

Anyhoo – onto the wish list for this year! I want to add here, whether I received the items mentioned or not, I am always grateful for whatever I do receive. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Yotsubato! Danbo Nendoroid (link)

Since our second Christmas together me and Dane have always bought each other Nendoroid’s for Christmas, which has ranged from just one, to four as the years have gone by. This year isn’t any exception BUT we know what character we’ve bought one another. However, I don’t know if Dane has bought me a surprise one… Which could be Danbo! This is a Nendoroid I was going to buy this when we were in Japan in January but I ended up leaving it. It’s from a manga that I haven’t read but have always meant to. Danbo is a cute cardboard box, but his eyes light up! Very cute and one I would love in my collection. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Firebox/Smoko Tayto the Couch Potato Rechargeable Night Light (link)

Last Christmas and birthday Dane bought me some of the night lights from Smoko/Firebox, a dumpling and a bubble tea. They’re amazing pieces for our bedroom and are really bright. I often pop them on in the evenings when I want to relax and chill out. Plus they’re hella cute! So, when I saw that Firebox had the couch potato variant in stock, I knew I had to ask for it for Christmas this year! This is rechargeable too, whilst the ones he bought me last year need batteries, which is even better! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m hoping he’s bought it me so I can add to my growing collection of kawaii night lights. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Pandora Japanese Akita Inu Dog Charm (link)

I usually ask for Pandora around Christmas and if I don’t ask, I usually get anyway… Usually from my parents. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was asked if I wanted any jewellery this year and this is one of the first things that came to mind as it reminded of our mine and Dane’s trip to Japan this year in January. It’s hard to be gifted jewellery this year because, let’s face it… I’ve become a hermit in 2020 due to COVID and jewellery just isn’t something I’ve really worn for most of this year. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ This charm is really cute though!

  • Pikachu Resin Mold (link)

As I’ve mentioned briefly on my blog this year, both me and Dane got into working and making resin pieces this year. Something Dane asked me if I wanted as gifts were resin molds, as at the moment I don’t really have many and would love more to experiment and play with! I’ve been after the Pikachu resin mold for a while and it’s one that I definitely added to my Christmas list! I have so many ideas of keyrings I could make and that does include the standard yellow Pikachu we all know and love. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid The Complete Series Blu-ray (link)

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is one of my favourite manga and anime series and it’s thanks to Dane that I actually discovered it when I did. I was having a nose around Amazon and noticed that you can buy the series on Blu-Ray now! :O I know season 2 of the show has been delayed due to what happened to Kyoto Animation in 2019. I would love to receive this for Christmas to binge watch over the festive period, as well as for my birthday less than a week after New Year. I do love receiving anime Blu-Ray for Christmas. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • PunfunStudio Eeveelution Heart Shaker Resin Mold Set (link)

The final item I want to mention on my wish list for Christmas time and it’s another resin mold, however this is a set and it’s actually something that arrived today and Dane has given to me early. I sent him the link for this resin mold set that contains all nine of the Eeveelutions (Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon) holding a heart. These are shaker resin molds though! So when you work on them you can pop some glitter, beads etc inside and then pop oil in, cover with a plastic film to seal everything in place and hey presto! You have a shaker keyring/charm. However, I think I’ll be making dry shaker charms to start off with, just to get used to how they work and such. ๐Ÿ™‚

So, that is everything that I added to my Christmas wish list this year! That list would have just been something I gave to Dane to give him ideas for Christmas. I don’t tend to do this for my family, his parents etc. They tend to get me surprises, or ideas Dane has given them.

Whilst I may always show you guys my wish lists for Christmas every year, I always get excited to give my gifts to Dane, my parents and loved ones/friends. I’m excited to see their faces when the get their gifts and tomorrow will be no exception, especially with Dane… Who has been bloody spoilt this year. ๐Ÿ˜›

What do you guys have on your wish lists this year for Christmas? Realistic and non realistic. Unicorns can be included. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I just want to finish off this blog post by saying – MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you all have a lovely day, even with the circumstances and get to see your loved ones online if not in person. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time all, again Merry Christmas! ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas Tag 2020

On My Way Christmas GIF by MOODMAN

Image taken from GIPHY

Christmas is now less than a week away and you know what? I have zero festive spirit behind me and it kinda sucks. SO, I thought I would have a go at being festive in the run up to Christmas and found this Christmas tag online! I’m going to nominate everyone who reads this post to give this tag a go themselves!

I think I’m not feeling festive due to a mixture of COVID, age and especially due to the loss I experienced in September. So, I would really love to get into the festive spirit now… Especially with Christmas just around the corner. I really hope you guys enjoy the tag and take part in it too!

Whatโ€™s your favourite Christmas movie?

This is quite an easy one and it’s hands down Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. I just fell in love with the film more so than the original one… But I do loveย Home Aloneย just the same! I just found it to be the perfect Christmas film growing up, but I also loved watching it throughout the year too. It’s usually the first Christmas film I stick on in the year and this year it was kind of different to the other times I’ve watched it. I found myself questioning a lot of what happened and it made me laugh! A couple of runner ups here areย Jingle All The Wayย andย The Grinchย (the one with Jim Carrey).

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

I don’t remember to be perfectly honest with you… I know in 2017 we had snow just before Christmas which was amazing! I literally had to Google when we last had a white Christmas in Birmingham and apparently it was 2010… But I cannot remember that for the life of me. ๐Ÿ˜›

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

Mostly at home now, but me and Dane tend to change it up each year and go to each others families together Christmas Day. However I think after this year we’ll be staying at home all day. I like to be able to cook our Christmas dinner together but then we tend to have to “rush” and then go out not long after eating. It’ll be nice not to have to rush around this year.

Whatโ€™s your favourite Christmas song?

Paul McCartney – “Wonderful Christmastime” and Slade – “Merry Christmas Everybody” are two that always come to mind. I do like “Last Christmas” as well BUT I overheard it so much one year that I can’t stand when I hear it now. This year, as of yet I haven’t listened to ANY Christmas songs yet and I’m happy with that… ๐Ÿ˜›

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Not really to be honest with you, we like to wait until the big day to open our gifts for one another. We get breakfast, snuggle up in bed and exchange gifts. I’m quite excited for Dane to have his presents this year as I’ve really spoilt him. ๐Ÿ™‚

Image taken from Sugar Bunny Shop – You can pre-order the Santa’s Reindeer Wood Ornament Garland now!

Can you name all of Santaโ€™s reindeer?

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comic Blitzen, Rudolph (of course) and Vixie? I know there’s more but I can’t think of them… *Googles* Prancer, Dancer, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Dasher, Vixen, Blitzen, and Rudolph! I got five out of nine so I didn’t do toooooo badly! ๐Ÿ˜›

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

We don’t really have any to be perfectly honest with you… I think one we’ve really gotten now is the whole, breakfast in bed and opening presents together. ๐Ÿ™‚

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It’s fake. I’d buy a real one but our living room isn’t big enough for it… Although I have always wanted a tiny one to keep on the table OR by the front door over December. Maybe next year. ๐Ÿ™‚

Whatโ€™s your favourite holiday food/treat/sweet?

I’m a sucker for the dinner to be honest with you. I love sweet ham over Christmas with pigs in blankets, massive Yorkshire puddings, my mom’s gravy (mines good but it will never beat hers!) and crispy AF roast potatoes. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m cooking lamb this year. The first Christmas we did at home (2018) the meat I cooked wasn’t good and it was such a shame, so I’m giving it another go this year in the hopes it’s really yummy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Be honest. Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?

Giving gifts. I love being able to buy gifts for people who either won’t buy the item in question for themselves, or surprise them with something I know they would love and appreciate but don’t actually know about and such. Plus it’s always nice to buy a gift and see someone’s face light up. ๐Ÿ™‚ I especially love when I see Dane open his gifts, as well as my mom.

Christmas 2013 – Cinnamon the German Market fox from Dane.

Whatโ€™s the best Christmas present youโ€™ve ever received?

One that comes to mind is my Olivia Burton fox snow globe watch. My mom bought this for me in 2018 and I still love it so much. As the little crystals move around inside it’s one I always stare at during meetings at work and when I’m out and about… However, I haven’t worn it much this year due to lockdown but before COVID existed I was wearing this all the time! She even got my name etched on the band too, which is a really nice touch. I may try and get a replacement band at some point soon as the one I have at the moment is looking tired.

Alongside that there is also one of the presents I received from Dane when we had our first Christmas together – this little fox plushie. I don’t think we’ve been to another Birmingham German Market together since 2013, but whilst we were there we walked past a stand that sold plushies. I saw this cute little fox and Dane bought it for me straight away. I still own this plush to this day and it’s now in my plushie cupboard, where he belongs! It just always reminds me of Dane and how excited I was for Christmas with him. For a very long time I’d hated Christmas, but when he came into my life he really made me feel better about this time of year. P.S. We called my little fox Cinnamon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Whatโ€™s your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Japan, for sure! I would love to go to see how festive it would be, have a KFC for Christmas dinner and if possible stay somewhere like a private onsen where we could spend the evening in and out of the hot bath, eat yummy food and just relax together and exchange presents. It might be something I suggest to Dane in the future for sure. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d only want to go for a week, maybe ten days at a push so we can enjoy the festive period together.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m in-between. Before I met Dane I used to fail miserably as I never really concentrated or had as much to wrap as previous. I feel especially since we moved in together I spend a bit more time on my wrapping and whilst I’m not a pro, I’m definitely better! I’ve watched how my dad and one of my friends wrap their presents and they’re definite pros! They take their time, make lots of folds and more and their gifts look to good to open. ๐Ÿ™‚

1995 – My parents bought me the Pocahontas Braided Beauty doll for Christmas when I was five. Image taken from Amazon.

Whatโ€™s your most memorable Christmas memory?

Mmm… I don’t know to be perfectly honest. There’s a couple that stand out but I always love to share this one…

When I was five Pocahontas came out and I fell in love with that film (still one of my favourites!) and my parents made sure to buy me plenty of Pocahontas presents that Christmas. I received a cute red jumper/sweater with Pocahontas on, that I LIVED in for as long as I can remember. They also bought me the Pocahontas braided beauty doll which I LOVED! It came with Pocahontas doll as well a a braiding tool that looked like Meeko. I loved Meeko and my parents knew that, but I imagine there weren’t any specific Meeko toys and this was close enough. PLUS I had long hair growing up, that my mom would braid for me, so I imagine she saw this when shopping in Toys R Us and bought it because it was all the things I loved. ๐Ÿ™‚ It was clearly a thought out gift for me as a kid. ๐Ÿ™‚

What made you realise the truth about Christmas?

I remember I had written a letter for Father Christmas as a kid, as well as drew some pictures of Rudolph and Father Christmas. I knew it was my dad when I woke up the next day to read, “Well done!”, “Great picture!” and “Merry Christmas” on each picture and the letter I wrote. I know my dad’s writing and it was the same. It was from then on I knew who was really delivering my Christmas presents and who they were from. I’d had my suspicions for a while and I’m pretty sure the year before I’d seen my dad putting presents in my room as I turned in my sleep and was half awake.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Being with people I love and making them smile. Obviously yummy food and being merry is always good too, BUT it is definitely about making people happy and being around the people who make you happy. I’m sad that I can’t see my parents properly over Christmas. They’ll be driving over to my house next week to drop off gifts and have a chat from the front door to their car at the end of the drive. This year has been hard for my family due to our loss in September and I especially feel for my mom this year. I just wish I could give her a hug and a kiss when exchanging gifts and more. I know the time will come where we can ALL make up for lost time… But it’s just really hard this year.

So, there we have it! The Christmas Tag! It’s kind of started getting me into the Christmas spirit this afternoon whilst answering the tag questions and to be honest with you guys, I hope I get more and more festive as the time goes on.

This evening I’m actually going to host a mini “German Market at home” for me and Dane. I’m making hot dogs (not the nasty shit in the jars!), fries and instead of hot chocolate, I’m going to serve chocolate cake with Bailey’s!

I’m super excited for it and I just hope it goes down well. ๐Ÿ™‚

How are you all feeling about Christmas this year? Especially with COVID. Me and Dane will be staying at home throughout the festive period, including New Year to stay safe at home. I hope my readers will be doing the same…

Please let me know what you are most excited about this year in the comments. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time guys, please stay safe during these times and see you soon.

Black Milk Clothing x Animal Crossing

This has been a blog post I’ve been pretty excited to write and share with you considering it contains Animal Crossing related goodies!

If you don’t know by now I LOVE Animal Crossing and with the release Animal Crossing: New Horizons back in March I have been even more obsessed than usual.

I’ve also rediscovered my love of Black Milk Clothing in 2020 thanks to the Pokemon collection that came out in the summer. You can read about all the goodies I picked up from that collection here.

October 5th and less than a month after my Pokemon goodies arrived, Black Milk Clothing announced they were releasing an Animal Crossing collection and it would be released just over a week later on 13th October! I was all over it and watching my Instagram page daily for sneak peaks and reveals of what the pieces looked like that were going to be part of the collection.

I’m not going to sugar coat it… I was incredibly disappointed by the Animal Crossing collection and I know I’m not the only one either. Some of my friends and people on social media gathered to express their disappointment. It just felt like Animal Crossing was cheated, as the Pokemon collection was amazing.

At the same time though I was kind of pleased due to how much money I’d already spent on the Pokemon collection, as well as one piece I picked up from the Halloween collection as well.

I won’t moan too much about the pieces I didn’t like, but I want to be honest, which I know you guys appreciate!

The one piece that everyone commented on is the Pocket Skater Skirt that is literally the box art for New Horizons. This was in very poor taste and felt kind of… Lazy. They could have done so much more than just slapping the box art on the skirt. It reminds me of something you would buy from a knock off of Black Milk Clothing from Wish or AliExpress.

Another complaint myself and others said on social media is how the fossil stand alone design was missing from this collection, as well as constellation designs for Celeste. The latter would have been gorgeous as a skater skirt and or skater dress design. I just felt like a lot of the collection was the same prints wise and the styles they were put against was strange. One in particular being the Villagers Tie The Knot Jumpsuit. It’s just… Ugly and random and just a big ball of no from me.

I decided on three pieces I was going to buy from the collection and was super nervous when it came to the time to put my orders in. As we all know, the Pokemon collection sold out stupidly quick the first time and even the restocks sold out after a while. I prepared myself for this collection to sell out… But I didn’t need to at all. The collection is still in really good stock with only two pieces being sold out at the time of writing this post (12/12/2020).

I ordered my pieces and waited for them to arrive. I think it took a little longer for my goods to be sent out to me (and others) due to a printer breaking. I was offered a 10% discount code, which I used to buy the Sporty Stripes Hosiery 2.0. These are amazing, but I won’t be showing them off in this post.

After I ordered my pieces, I’d heard about some issues with a piece from the Halloween collection, that was similar to one of the Animal Crossing pieces I’d bought. I’ll go into that a little more later, but let’s put it this way… I was gutted to find out that one of my pieces would arrive and after being worn would have issues with it… >.<

My pieces FINALLY arrived on the 27th November and I couldn’t wait to try them on and feel a little like an Animal Crossing character! ๐Ÿ˜€

As I stated on the Pokemon post the tracking was really good! I was able to keep up with where my parcel was and more. It did give an estimated arrival, but my goods arrived a little earlier than what was suggested, which was good!

Like when I bought from the Pokemon collection, I donโ€™t know why I wasnโ€™t charged customs. I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s due to Royal Mail delivering my parcel or what. I was very lucky and Iโ€™m grateful I wasnโ€™t stung. I find it odd though when I spent less money on my Halloween piece I was stung for ยฃ20 customs and I only bought one piece! :S

I didnโ€™t take any photos, but the pieces I ordered arrived in perfect condition! All the pieces I bought were made in Australia and arrived in a special bag you can throw away in your compost bin and itโ€™ll decompose. I love this idea and more brands need to do this.

Finally the time has come to share with you the pieces I picked upโ€ฆ But if you were aware of the collection and all the pieces that released with it, you may have realised by now just which pieces I picked upโ€ฆ Seeing as I posted a photo of them all together at the start of this post! xD

I just want to add here by the way that all the pieces I bought are not sold out, but may be limited in sizes OR may have sold out by the time this post goes live. As far as Iโ€™m aware the pieces I bought, once they do sell out, they arenโ€™t making a return.ย There are some pieces under the Pokemon collection that WILL return (which you can seeย here), so make sure to sign up for restock alerts if items thatย aren’tย LIMITED. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sadly there are no pictures of me in the dresses as at the time of writing this post I’ve actually really badly pulled my shoulder and if I’m not in a world of pain, I’m smothered in deep heat to try and help the pain go away. I have tried my best to show off the pieces. Not going to lie, the photos aren’t the best. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  • K.K. Long Sleeve Oversized BFT (link)

I’ve never owned a BFT (boyfriend tee) from Black Milk Clothing and I’m not going to lie, you can definitely size down for these as they’re oversized (as it states in the name). I bought an L, which is my go to size to order from Black Milk Clothing. It’s really big but at the same time I like how baggy it is. I could get away with wearing this with leggings and tucked into mom jeans with no worries.

It’s a black tee with a massive image of K.K. Slider on the back, on his stool and with his guitar, ready to jam on a Saturday night. On the right sleeve there are yellow musical notes and on the left it says, “Animal Crossing: New Horizons“. I do wonder if they could have instead of putting the name of the game, maybe some of the pictures of the songs in the game by K.K Slider? Then on the front on the left hand side there is another image of K.K. Slider.

I do love the BFT and I know I’ll wear it loads, especially whilst working from home. The quality feels great and I know this will be loved throughout the autumn and winter and chillier days in spring and summer.

  • ย  Nook Gingham Evil Skater Dress (link)

I love skater dresses from Black Milk Clothing and the Nook gingham one is no exception! The only thing I don’t like about it, is it doesn’t have pockets like my Eeveelution dress. The skater dresses from Black Milk Clothing are my favourite thing to buy from them. I can wear them all the time, later them up if need be and more! I can already see me wearing this dress on Christmas Eve/Day because it’s just shouting Christmassy colours to me.

As you can see the skater dress is red gingham with images of Tom, Timmy and Tommy Nook all over, as well as money bags and DIY recipe cards. I do love this, it’s such a simple but perfect design. If you know about Animal Crossing and who these characters and items are, of course you would get this straight away. However, if people don’t happen to know about Animal Crossing, it can just look like some cute raccoon/tanuki animals. I also feel like this dress would be a conversation starter for nerds alike!

Not going to lie… I’m wondering if I can get away with wearing this dress to work when I’m eventually back in the office again. I feel it would look lovely with a cream t-shirt underneath or a cream jumper over the top for colder days. I know I really want to get a new black/navy/cream boyfriend cardigan to wear with my Black Milk Clothing pieces.

There are quite a few pieces in the collection with this pattern, including short overalls and cuffed pants. I would love the latter to wear with geeky t-shirts but I don’t know if they would suit me… At the same time, I would love to grab some cuffed pants in different designs to mix up my Black Milk Collection a little too.

  • Isabelle Gingham Apron Dress (link)

This is the final piece I picked up from the Animal Crossing collection and it’s one I want to talk about in a lot more detail than the other two pieces. You know I mentioned earlier in the post that one of the pieces might come with issues? It’s this piece…

So let me get the issue out of the way first. So the material the apron dresses are made out of are rubbish. If anything catches onto them, it can make a mar on he pieces and make them look frizzy/fuzzy. I’ve heard people report that wearing a seat belt causes issues, wearing a bag with a chain strap, but with the strap adjusters on the apron dresses that causes issues too, which is what has already happened to mine. I was expecting it, so I’m not too gutted, but I am at the same time too. I just really wanted a dress with this design on it. The Isabelle tartan design is my favourite from the whole collection. They did release a Pilgrim Dress and some Cuffed Shorts but I didn’t really want either (eventually I do want the cuffed shorts…). I could have cancelled my order and reordered but… Why should I?

The main issue here is that the material used for the apron dresses is a problem and Sharkies (name for Black Milk Clothing fans) have been raising it for a while now. Not only are the apron dresses affected but I know I heard of someone who faced issues with the Rainbow Garden Long Sleeve Scoop Skater Dress from the Animal Crossing collection, which is a massive shame! I thought about buying this dress as it has some of my favourite villagers on (including Cookie!) but I’m glad I didn’t know. I can deal with buying one dodgy piece, but not two.

I’ve not raised this issue with Black Milk Clothing yet, but I fully intend to soon. I wanted to raise it on my blog post because word needs to get out. There is a material that is SHITE and you should avoid it if you can. I could have cancelled my Black Milk Clothing order and just not bought the dress, but I wanted it. Why shouldn’t I have something I want because of some dodgy material?

Anyhoo, I’m FINALLY going to talk more about the dress, because it’s gorgeous and it needs to be spoken about highly too like it deserves.

I’ve never owned one of the apron dresses before and they’re… Interesting. I don’t know if it’s because I’m not used to them or what, but I’ve found it a tad awkward to wear. I have big boobs and a big bum, so trying to balance both of those factors with this dress is tricky. Plus I didn’t want to keep playing with the strap adjusters in case it damaged the dress anymore than it already has. The chest doesn’t feel covered enough for me, but then my bum won’t feel covered enough. When I eventually wear this properly I think I’m going to wear a long sleeved top underneath, or maybe even a shirt or jumper and instead of tights, I’d wear leggings due to the length of the dress.

Isabelle | Animal Crossing Wiki | Fandom

The design on the dress is gorgeous and as I’ve already said, my favourite from the collection! It’s a green gingham with images of Isabelle, a white daisy (cosmos in Animal Crossing) and the classic Animal Crossing leaf. It’s just so perfect! In Animal Crossing: New Leaf Isabelle would wear a green gingham dress (as shown above) so this is perfect in every way, shape and form! If anything I wish they’d brought out a skater dress with this design on it! One thing I love is that this has pockets too! Pockets on dresses is definitely a way forward.

I feel like I won’t properly wear this dress until a special occasion. I could wear it New Years Eve around the house, my birthday in January or maybe anniversary in June. It’s a dress I’ll be cautious about wearing… But I won’t NOT wear it. Otherwise it’s a waste. I get why people have stopped buying the material in question that is having issues and I don’t know if I’ll buy it again.

So, those are all the pieces I picked up from the Animal Crossing collection! Although pieces are mostly limited, there are some limited and permanent pieces that I would love to pick up in the future, including – Isabelle Gingham Cuffed Shorts and Collectibles Cuffed Shorts. I’d love to wear these with sweaters and thick tights!

Overall I am really happy with the pieces I picked up from the Animal Crossing collection I do wish they’d been a bit more creative in regards to the pieces they released.

It’s a real shame to have seen the Pokemon collection do so well (it’s not on it’s SECOND restock!) and the Animal Crossing collection do so poor… It just goes to show the designs really didn’t do as well as they could have.

What do you guys think of Black Milk Clothing? Do you own any pieces by them? Are there any pieces you like the look of? In the New Year I might do a massive post showing off all of my Black Milk Clothing pieces! Make sure to let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time, stay safe, take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Shop Small – Claire Likes To Doodle*

Can you believe Christmas is now less than a month away? With Christmas comes Christmas present shopping, have you started yours yet? I have and I’m almost finished! I know some people who wait until the last minute to buy their presents and some who buy them throughout the year.

I like to get my shopping done early and always have done so that I have more money for Christmas parties and trips to the German Market throughout December… None of those are happening this year due to COVID… ๐Ÿ˜›

However this year I have decided to shop small and mostly buy Christmas presents through small and independent artists. Some own their own stores online and host on websites like Etsy. I’ll be writing and sharing more stores with you in the coming weeks.

Today I want to talk about my good friend Claire, who owns Claire Likes To Doodle. I spoke about Claire and her commission work last summer (which you can read here) and we have decided to work together again, but this time to talk about her online store!

Claire opened her store again around July this year and since then she has filled it with loads of amazing goodies – especially her original character Bernard.

Since working together last year Claire wanted to share an update in regards to how her work has changed since then, as well as how Claire Likes To Doodle will be in 2021!

The last time I was featured on Nat’s blog, it was primarily for my chibi work. That was my main focus for commissions and merch too. I’m still a commission artist, I do watercolour pieces and portraits, MTG alters and tokens. My personal work has changed up a fair bit though!

The great (and sometimes frustrating) thing about being an artist is that you’re constantly evolving and changing up your work and style until you settle into what you love creating best. I found that when I was doing Inktober 2019 and I introduced a little monster called a Bernard. Since then I’ve been creating more and more work around Bernards and their world, and people have fell in love with them! I now have an active shop with Bernard goodies, original art and other oddities.

I’ve got big Bernard plans for 2021, watch this space… Once again, thank you Natalee for featuring me and letting me introduce Bernard to your lovely readers!

I really love when independent stores/artists I work with have an input in my posts to tell me all about them and how they got started, their store and plans for the future.

I have been friends with Claire since 2006 and our friendship has grown more and more as the years have gone by. I’m so proud of Claire for how far she has come and I have a feeling 2021 will be her year!

Inside this package there was a lovely note from Claire that really made me smile. As someone who has anxiety and depression this note is very much appreciated. Whenever people write down words like this, whether it be on a letter or a text I keep them and read them back when I feel down. I’ll be doing the same with this note too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Claire kindly gifted me all the items in this post (apart from one item which I bought with my own money) for reviewing purposes. Apart from the quote above from Claire, all words are my own and items that are gifted will be marked with an *.

Claire has a variety of goodies on her store to buy from stickers, badges, original work, paintings, stationary and more. I was sent a little bit of everything to show to you today!

First things first – if you are UK based like Claire is – she offers Free UK shipping on certain items. If she does offer this, it will state it on the item in question e.g. stickers and badges. I felt this was an important note to add as I know a lot of people in the UK may be looking for small gift and stocking ideas for Christmas and throughout the year.

The cut off point for ordering in time for Christmas is Monday 14th December 2020. Commissions are now closed until January 2021.

Finally before I start to share the goodies share sent me – Claire Likes To Doodle is having a Black Friday sale! When you use the code “YOULLBEBACK” at checkout you will snag a cheeky 20% discount on everything in her shop. This is valid between Friday 27th November 12am GMT – Sunday 29th November 12am GMT. So, if you like the look of anything here, make sure to go and grab a bargain.

Oh… I also have an exclusive 10% discount code for Claire Likes To Doodle’s store, which will be on the right hand side of my blog moving forward. I have added it here though too for readers who my see some good below and want to make an order. ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally… I’ll share with you the amazing goodies that Claire sent me! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Autumn Bernard – Square Sticker (link)*
  • Autumn Bernard – 38mm Square Badge (link)*

A square sticker/badge with a cozy autumnal Bernard, enjoying her favourite pumpkin spice beverage and wrapped up warm. Take a bit of autumn with you wherever you go with this unique sticker.

As regular readers will know, I love enamel pins, badges and stickers! Badges remind me of my emo kid self back in the day, I would stick badges all over my bags and jackets to try and show off who I was as much as possible. This autumn Bernard is so perfect to me purely because I love autumn. It’s my favourite time of the year and Claire has captured that perfectly with her autumn Bernard design. My favourite colour is purple so I love that Bernard is wrapped up in purple accessories and is holding a warm drink. I also love the little pink flushed cheeks, just showing how cold it is where Bernard is. You can show really off your love of autumn all year around with both the badge and the sticker, as well as show off and support Claire’s original character.

  • Chill AF Bernard – 32mm Badge (link)*

Need a little calm in your life? I get it. So does Bernard. May this 32mm button badge be a reminder to take a step back every now and again.

This chill AF Bernard is a reminder for everyone right now to take a deep breath and relax whenever you can. With the way the world is at the moment I think everyone could do with this badge as a reminder to step back and take a few minutes for yourself. It can also help with anxiety too to remind people to take care of themselves. I really love this badge and I think I’ll be sticking him on my work laptop bag to remind me to relax for five during the busy work day and grab a drink and maybe a casual chat with colleagues. ๐Ÿ™‚ To add as well by the way that both of the badges I received from Claire are amazing quality. They feel really well made and sturdy!

  • Flower Crown Bernard – Sticker (link)*

Original design – take this summer-themed Bernard wherever you want to go!

This Bernard reminds me of the summer, drinking with friends in beer gardens, going to festivals and basically summer vibes and activities with friends and loved ones before COVID. This is a sticker that reminds me that we need to be patient, because when COVID is gone – we can all have fun with our loved ones again and make some amazing new memories. The flower crown Bernard is so precious and I love how colourful the crown is! I wish my garden could look more like this. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Halloween Holographic Stickers (Halloween exclusive piece – not available to buy)*

Sadly these stickers aren’t available anymore, but Claire sent them me so I wanted to show them off to you guys! These were exclusive for Halloween and only stuck around the shop for a short period of time. There were two designs released with a baby Bernard inside of a pumpkin and a Bernard flying on a broom. They’re both so adorable and the fact they’re holographic too makes them feel even more spooky and seasonal for Halloween. The quality of these stickers is thicker than the other two stickers Claire sent me which is really cool! I might not stick these anywhere and actually use them as decorations for the Halloween season and stick them on my kitchen window! ๐Ÿ˜€ In the future keep your eyes peeled on Claire’s store for more store exclusives!

  • Round Cat Painting (Twitch stream piece – not available to buy)

This is a painting I purchased on one of Claire’s streams in the summer during lockdown and sold pieces she painted on stream. Due to to COVID I’ve only recently received it due to not being able to meet up and such. I paid ยฃ10 of my own money for this print and have been so excited to add it to my little growing collection by Claire. It’s a little round cat that looks like a Siamese breed. It’s so derpy and cute that I just had to buy it! I’m not a cat person to be perfectly honest with you but the derpy look in this cats eyes just had me! It feels so… Expensive(?) if you will due to the special art paper Claire has used. It was so relaxing watching Claire paint this piece, it’s cool to now have it in person. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Artgust – Original A6 Watercolour Paintings – Electric (link)*

Through the month of August 2020, I did a painting every day based on a prompt list put together by myself and my wonderful Discord community. A mix of funny pieces, sad pieces, portraits and Bernards done over 31 days! Each piece is A6 size, painted in watercolour.

The final piece I want to talk about that Claire sent me I was taken back by. I didn’t quite expect her to send me one of her watercolour paintings but I’m not going to complain, especially considering she sent me a Pokemon themed print! Back in August Claire took part in Artgust where you draw/paint something everyday of the month. This was day 28 of August and it’s titled “Pikachu”. As you can see it’s Claire’s original character Bernard who is surrounded by hearts and has a Pikachu on his head. It’s so bloody cute and I love it! This is going to go on my plushie cabinet alongside my other prints. I’ll be keeping it in the cellophane packet it came in to keep it safe. For an A6 print size it packs a punch and not only looks amazing, the quality of the piece itself feels high quality too and expensive.

Claire still has quite a few prints left from the Artgust challenge, as well as one she took part in in October called Annarack October that are all looking for homes! The prints created during October are all Bernard themed too, so if you like the look of Claire’s original character and would like to pick up something with them on, definitely go and check those prints out!

They’re all A6 size and cost ยฃ15 each. They’re also unique one of a kind pieces, no reprints here. Once they’re sold, they’re gone. For example if you go onto the website the Electric print is sold out, because of course I own it now.

I’ve had my eye on one for a while now and definitely contemplating buying it soon! It’s the Black design from Artgust. I’ve always loved the look of it and if there’s one style of art Claire does really well it’s the blackout style. She did it for a time on her Instagram page and it’s one I always find myself gravitating towards. Who knows, I may end up buying it after this post is live… ๐Ÿ˜‰

'Distanced' A4 Year Planner - 2021

Something else I may pick up soon for when I return to the office for work is the ‘Distanced’ A4 Year Planner 2021. Not only is it handy but also really nice to stick on the sides of my desk for a bit of artwork… Nothing wrong with livening your desk up, eh? ๐Ÿ˜€

So there you go guys, the first of many independent artists I’ll be talking about during shop small in December! I’m so happy that Claire Likes To Doodle could be the first one I talk about.

Life Lately – Past, Present and Future

I really love this photo! Shall I add it to my “about me” section? P.S. I love Instagram filters! ๐Ÿ˜›

For my post this week I thought I would do a life lately post and have a catch up about stuff that’s been happening since my last life lately in July (which you can read here). So, go and grab yourself a hot drink because this post is going to be lonnnnng!

I’m going to get this out there straight away and say that since September life has been a bit shit… But thankfully it hasn’t affected me too badly…

September is my favourite month of the year as many know, but this year it was one of the worst. My aunt unexpectedly passed away and I’m still torn about it. October was her funeral and as I’ve been so busy with work throughout October and this month I’ve not really had time to think about it all… Which isn’t a bad thing but I’ve just been so busy.

Due to everything happening one after the other, I am mentally drained. I had a day off work yesterday and it was much needed. I spent the morning doing nothing and catching up on Twitch streams, cleaned my bathroom in the afternoon and ordered a takeaway in the evening. It was a very good day and I loved it so much.

I was bloody knackered this day… Busy work day!

Anyhoo, I don’t want to talk about how shit the past three months has been too much here, but I did want to be honest. I just want to continue to be there for my mom and try and look forward to Christmas as it’ll definitely be a hard year for me, but especially for my mom. I want to try and spoil her as much as possible, especially when her birthday comes around after mine in January too.

Alongside that we’ve also had a second lockdown in the UK, which is set to finish in less than two weeks. To be honest the second lockdown hasn’t affected me. I’m still working from home so I’ve been fine workwise and as miserable as it sounds, second lockdown has been an excuse for me to stay at home and not have to worry about having energy after a busy day to socialise.

COVID and lockdowns has fucked with my head however. I’m happy to stay at home and not hang out with people and be social. I like staying in my house and when both me and Dane have a week off work in December, we intend to do that for pretty much all of it. We’re going to be working on the house and doing things we’ve meant to do the past four years of owning our home.

COVID and lockdown may have fucked with my head, but it has made me realise how much I love my home, but also how much work we still need to do. We’ve neglected it because of being social bunnies since 2016 and I’m done with it. I have certain friends I really fucking miss and can’t wait to see when things go back to “normal” but that’s about it.

I don’t give a fuck if I’m miserable. ๐Ÿ˜› Has anyone else had the same happen to them that has happened to me? Aka turning into a hermit. ๐Ÿ˜›

One of the many pretty baths I’ve taken lately. This one was so damn pretty due to the purple and blue swirling into one another.

I’m getting into the festive spirit a little now in the run up to December. I’m halfway through my Christmas shopping and I’ve already pre-ordered my Christmas food ready for the big day. I won’t be putting my tree up until the 1st December, I can’t stand putting it up early as I find it takes the magic of Christmas away. It comes down just before New Years Eve so we don’t have to worry about putting it down and away before we return to work for a New Year. A lot of people think this is miserable… I think due to being in a home that didn’t really put a tree up this is just something that has passed onto me somewhat.

Speaking of Christmas and the New Year I have so many exciting things I want to talk and share in regards to my blog! ๐Ÿ˜€

I decided almost a month ago that I would do a MASSIVE post at the start of December about shopping small in the UK. I’ve never done this before in the sense of all stores to be mentioned will be small so I’m REALLY excited for it! With 2020 and lockdown due to COVID, I feel I have shopped smaller more than ever and I love being able to share them with others on my Instagram (theremightbecoffeeblog) so I want to do the same here on my blog too.

I asked you on Twitter what you wanted to see, UK, USA, Europe or everywhere. You mostly voted for me to focus on shopping small in the UK, so that’s what I’ll be doing. I’ll have categories such as beauty, home, kawaii/geek, enamel pins, etc. Are there any categories you would like to see in particular that I haven’t mentioned?

I’ll be looking to research for this MASSIVE post very soon (maybe even after this post is live!) so I can get it out for (drumroll?) 5th December, which is in a couple of weeks! If you also know of any UK stores I should mention, please let me know!

I quickly want to interrupt what I’m talking about to show you these AMAZING Black Milk Clothing x Pokemon leggings I found for a total bargain on Depop! Someone sold them brand new with tags for ยฃ40. I snapped them up and I have zero regrets. I’m going to wear these religiously during my week off work. ๐Ÿ˜›

Alongside that blog post idea for Christmas, I have also decided in 2021 to make a slight change to my blog… and when I say change I mean my monthly posts in particular. I have toyed with this thought the past few months and after reaching out to you guys again on Twitter you all had the same thought as me.

With my monthly favourites posts I am going to move away from mentioning my five favourite beauty items and just mention one or two. I’m planning to share TV shows, movies, music and games I have loved that month, but I’ll only talk about books if I’ve actually read any. I love reading manga, but I’ve not ready any for a while. I’m going to change that in 2021 but I don’t see the point in having books on my monthly favourites if I’m not reading any each month… It’s just pointless.

I’ll be adding some new categories such as – favourite piece of clothing, favourite candle/scent and anything else that comes to mind to be honest with you! It will be random each month me thinks depending on how that month has been like etc.

I didn’t know whether to lumpย  my monthly favourites and my wish list together so I have more room for content each month but I don’t know… I worry a post will be far too long then, so I am swaying towards keeping them separated. What do you guys think? I do love my monthly wish list posts! ๐Ÿ˜€

Please take another amazing bath photo! If there is a brand I have fallen in love with this year it’s Bake Bath Love. They’ll be getting a mention in my Christmas Shop Small UK post.

In 2020 I haven’t work with as many people as I usually do with gifted posts, but at the same time we obviously know why this is the case! However, I am hoping in 2021 to work with more people, but we shall see! I’m not fussed if I don’t of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

One more thing I want to share with you today is something that I ordered at the start of November as a payday treat for myself. As many know, I love Bee & Puppycat and have done since I discovered it back in 2013 but 2020 has been the year I’m finally buying some merchandise (fan made mostly) from the show.

I finally decided to treat myself to an amigurumi (Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures) of Puppycat, as well as some stickers. He’s by Lunaticgumis and I love him so much! He arrived today and he’s been very much loved already. He’s now on my plushie shelf next to the Puppycat polymer clay keyring that I commissioned from MelonDesignsByEllen. However, I think I will be doing a massive talk about these on a separate post in December. ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s basically everything I wanted to catch up with here though… I have some exciting posts coming up in December, which may even end up going through to January too including:

Black Milk Clothing x Animal Crossing – I am beyond excited for all this stuff to arrive… I say all, it’s just three items. It’ll be similar to the one I wrote about the Pokemon goodies, which you can read here for the time being.

Pikarar – This is going to be a huge haul and one I need to share with you all! It’ll include Pokemon and shiba inu clothing! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m sure there will be more but those two stand out for me at the moment so I wanted to get them mentioned here. ๐Ÿ™‚

Told you I loved them Instagram filters… ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m not going to ramble anymore guys! What do you think of the small adjustments I’m thinking of doing to my blog in 2021? Make sure to let me know what you think in the comments.

Is there anything else you would like to see more or less of on here? I’d like to hear what you think. In 2021 I want to mostly continue what I’ve done this year, aka one post a week and write about what the hell I want to! ๐Ÿ˜€

Aside from letting me know what you think, how have you all been doing? How are you dealing with COVID? Are you loving lockdown hating lockdown? Let me know everything. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time though guys, stay safe, take care and I’ll see you soon!

Quirkory Lunar Plushie Spookies Enamel Pins – Review

I can’t believe Halloween has now come and gone already… Was it really two weeks ago? It feels like a lot longer to be honest with you! I was so hyped up for Halloween this year but when it came down to the actual day it wasn’t as spooky as I’d hoped.

We visited a pumpkin patch and grabbed ourselves a huge pumpkin each to carve. Dane carved Calcifer (Howl’s Moving Castle) and I carved a spooky Pikachu. It was so much fun to do and they looked really cool in our kitchen window… They only lasted a few days though and I was a tad gutted. ๐Ÿ˜›

Back in August Quirkory released their Halloween collection Lunar Plushie Spookies enamel pins on their Etsy store for pre-order. I was on it as soon as they released and purchased two of the designs as well as some stickers.

I know Halloween has come and gone now, by spooky season is here all year for me, especially after this year and the designs Quirkory brought out aren’t just Halloween exclusives either.

I want to pop this here that this past year I have fallen in love with Quirkory’s designs and I get along really well now with the owners of the brand. We talk often and they’re so lovely to talk to! In September they opened their Patreon and I LOVE being able to see their updates weekly now about upcoming designs and projects, as well as some Patreon exclusive goodies.

For now let’s get down to the review of the spooky pins I picked up! I also want to mention here that due to being a Patreon and as a thank you from Quirkory they sent me some free goodies too. I was over the moon to see some extra goodies in my package. I won’t be marking these down as gifted but I will state which goods I bought and which were gifted.

The Lunar Spookies originally came out last year alongside the Eeveelution Greek Gods Kickstarter campaign and around a year later Quirkory decided to revamp those original characters to bring them into a plushie form! They even brought out a couple new characters too! Personally I much prefer the plushie revamp versions to the originals. Don’t get me wrong, the originals are adorable, but I feel with the plushie versions Quirkory’s unique style and eye for detail has really come through now.

Originally there were only five designs which consisted of Moodey the Spider, Tab the Bat, A-Ghostine the Ghost,ย Meowny the Cat and Moose the Mouse.

These have all been revamped, alongside with some new characters added to the mix too including – Poomkin (a mini enamel pin), Froogie Boogie and Meowny the Cat (lilac version).

I will pop a link here so you can check out all of the Lunar Plushie Spookies.

To start this post fully I’m going to be talking about the two enamel pins I bought, as well as one that Quirkory kindly gifted to me. ๐Ÿ™‚

First of all, all designs are on a gold enamel with two pin backs, which is always good at making sure your pins are extra secure! They also all come with the etching “Lunar Spookies by Quirkory” on the back of them, even the mini pin! I always love when enamel pin artists have their brand names etched on the back of the enamel pins. It’s great when looking/showing pins off to people so you can tell them there and then who designed it. I have so many enamel pins, sometimes I forget who they’re by. ๐Ÿ˜›

Another thing to mention here is how cute the backing cards are! They so spooky with the full moon in the background. Did you know, on Halloween this year we had a blue moon? I ended up forgetting about it due to eating McDonalds and watching horror movies. ๐Ÿ˜›

One final thing to add that I love about this collection is the cute little tags that they all have on them to symbolise they’re plushies! This is what I mean when I say how I love Quirkory’s unique eye for detail. They put so much intricate detailing into their designs, whether they be enamel pins, prints or even stickers!

Flapping here and there, faster than wind, he’ll come on Halloween night to… suck… all your lollipops, and candies he can find!!!
Little Tab here has no qualms… He’s too much evil muhahahah.

Tab Enamel Pin (link) (original design)

I love bats and always have when it comes down to Halloween, which was down to a bat blow up decoration my mom bought me as a child. So when I saw the revamp of Tab I fell in love with him. He’s a mixture of light purpleย  with darker purple wings and patches on his body. Tab has clearly been loved and cuddled very much OR been through some battles as he has two patches, one on his ear and one on his body. I love the detailing of the patches with the little stitch marks and where it’s obvious a different material was used to fix him up. He also has a cute little smile, which makes it look devious due to his fangs. I think deep down he’s a little cutie, especially with his blushing cheeks and stars dotted around his body. I love this design so much! It reminds me of when I was a little kid with that bat toy my mom bought me. If Tab were to be a real plush, he’d definitely become a part of my collection!

Woooohhhhh… woooooohhh… scritch scratch… Strange creaks come from the room next door. Chills down my spine… the air is suddenly turning cold. S…s…some…something touched me?!?! A high-pitched squeal breaks the silence! But it’s not mine…
*DUMP!* Heyyyy is that you, A-ghostin?? What are you doing here in the dark?! And you… turned the air conditioning on?!
You scared me with all this noise and fuss!
You weren’t that cheeky last year! Since when you’ve become famous, met lots of people and went around their homes… you’ve also become all puffed up! And now you even do everything all on your own, tinkering here and there. You used to hide yourself always underneath that lil’ pumpkin… didn’t you?
How much has changed in a year! From a shy and curious lil’ thing to an effusive cuddly “soul” of the party! He now DEMANDS for YOUR cuddles.

A-Ghostin Enamel Pinย (link) (original design)

I think A-Ghostin has stolen my heart. I forgot what his original design looked like and honestly it’s so adorable! It’s safe to say that out of all the Lunar Spookies, A-Ghostin is my favourite. I love ghost designs, there’s just something so adorable and mysterious behind them and throughout Halloween this year I have bought SO MANY ghost themed things. Out of them all though, A-Ghostin is up there as the best and my favourite. Like Tab, A-Ghostin’s design received the same attention to it’s design and it works so well! Of course A-Ghostin is white, he’s a ghost but he too has been through some wars of his own and has needed patching up. I love the Halloween themed colours of orange and purple that were used on him. The design of the patches are the same as Tab too, which is good. I especially love the cute little :3 smile that A-Ghostin has. He’s a shy little boy and his smile shows this, alongside his little arms and blushing cheeks. I love this design and if Quirkory don’t bring out a plushie of him… ๐Ÿ˜›

Ohhhhh but… yeah, it’s just Poomkin!!! He’s still too young to join the team, but he tries whenever he can to take part in their forays against crime! Such a little naughty rascal! After all, his dream is to become a real member of the team one day… and even the leader, no less! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ Well, it will certainly not be an easy task… but he’s already trying his very best aaaaand who knows, maybe thanks to his determination he might succeed at some point!

Poomkin Mini Enamel Pin (link)

This is the enamel pin that Quirkory sent me as a thank you for not only being a Patreon, but for also supporting them throughout the past year. So I just want to say a HUGE thank you to them for sending me this little cutie!

Poomkin is new to the Lunar Spookies and he’s so small and precious! I’ve never been a massive pumpkin fan in anyway shape or form, but I really do love this design. For a mini pin he packs a punch and as always there are those unique details from Quirkory in there. I love that his stem is purple, keeping with the Halloween themed colours. His smile is so precious and baby like, but all with the Jack ‘O Lantern theme too!

As I mentioned alongside the enamel pins I also ordered some stickers as well! I decided to order a pack of the Lunar Plushie Spookies vinyl stickers, but Quirkory sent me LOADS for free as well as a thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lunar Plushie Spookies Vinyl Sticker Pack (link)

I knew I wanted to get some of the stickers of the characters from the Lunar Plushie Spookies as whilst I loved all of the designs my heart truly fell in love with just the two (three if you count Poomkin after he arrived!). The stickers are so cute and I’m glad to not only have Tab and A-Ghostin, but the whole gang! They’re a great size and the quality feels lovely. Each character also has a colour background around them which I thought was a nice touch. Most of the stickers I own by Quirkory are paper so it makes a nice change to have vinyl. I think I also received a sticker of everyone in one big signed due to pre-ordering my enamel pins. This one is especially cute! ๐Ÿ˜€

Inari & Mosted Halloween Sticker Pack (link)

This is another extra thing that Quirkory sent me as a thank you! It’s almost like they read my mind as I’ve been meaning to order the Halloween sticker pack ever since I discovered them! Now I don’t really need to and I’m so grateful for that. :’) As always, thank you so much to Quirkory for being an amazing independent store to make my geeky and kawaii purchases from.

I didn’t get a full sticker pack but I got a lot of stickers from the pack and more! I was set a small and large size of both Inari and Mosted dressed up for Halloween! Inari is dressed as a witch and Mosted as a vampire, he even has tiny little fangs. SO CUTE! I also have a large sticker of three pumpkins and some little ones of bats, a sweet/candy and candy corns. ๐Ÿ˜€ These are so damn cute!

Inari & Mosted Little Summer Sailor Popsicle Stickers (link)

I know these aren’t Halloween related BUT I had had my eye on the Inari & Mosted summer stickers for ages and forgot to order them when I placed my Lunar Plushie Spookies order. I mentioned this in passing to Quirkory and they sent me them anyway. Honesty Quirkory make me feel so loved. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

The Inari & Mosted designs are so cute and I really do love them! I love how they’re both dressed as sailors and clutching onto their ice lollies (which is what we call them in the UK). Inari is holding a watermelon ice lollie and Mosted is holding a lemon one. Not going to lie, I think I’m with Mosted with lemon! ๐Ÿ˜€

Finally one thing I received was a print, which I think may have been an exclusive item for Patreon subscribers. This print is gorgeous in so many ways, for a start it’s super spooky and PERFECT for Halloween! It was a design that Quirkory put on their Patreon for Halloween and it was downloadable to have as a wallpaper on you phone, laptop or tablet device.

The print itself has a matte/velvet sort of feel to it and it feels really plush in a way and expensive… I hope it wasn’t expensive for them to make! I’ve kept this away somewhere safe as I worry if I pop it up somewhere on my plushie cabinet it may get damaged. I’m going to try and find something to put it inside so it doesn’t get damaged when I do put it up. ๐Ÿ™‚ As this is an exclusive print I can’t link it back, sadly.

So that is everything I picked up (and some bits I was kindly sent by Quirkory!) from the Lunar Plushie Spookies collection! ๐Ÿ˜€

As always I am so impressed with everything I ordered as well as how well packaged everything was. I haven’t shown it, but I also received a lovely hand written note from Quirkory that really made me smile. Since buying from them last year I’ve kept all the notes that they’ve sent me, personal or not. ๐Ÿ™‚

November Wish List โ€™20

I still can’t believe it’s November already and less than a month now until December. It’s crazy how quick 2020 has gone by considering all the crap we’ve had to deal with – e.g. COVID but at least we can try and have Christmas to look forward to, eh? I already know LOADS of people who have put their Christmas trees up because they’ve been looking forward to do something.

Anyhoo with Christmas lurking I REALLY struggled with this months wish list due to wanting to hold off on adding items I’ve added for Christmas. Realistically they aren’t items for my wish list this month, they’re not things I could buy if I wanted to, due to the fact Dane may have bought them me for Christmas and birthday.

My wish list this month is mostly really colourful and cute and honestly I would love to pick up some of these items, but I don’t think I can afford to… I’m so skint this month after starting my Christmas shopping but I have no regrets. I’m really excited to spoil people close to me and show them how much I love and care for them after such a shitty year.

Anyhoo… Let’s get on with the wish list!

  • The Bath Bae Oh So Slushie Bath Soak – (link)

This is an indie bath brand that I REALLY want to try! I’ve heard and seen nothing but good things about The Bath Bae and I really need to give them a go. At the moment I have so much bath stuff to use up, but when I time comes I’ll be ordered some of their goodies with the Oh So Slushie scent, which is described as one of my favourite drinks… blue raspberry and chery slushies! From what I’ve seen of people sharing The Bath Bae on Instagram you get a LOT of product for the money and that’s something that really does appeal to me! Alongside the bath soak you can also pick up bath sparkle, sparkle rocks and bath cubes. The bath cubes is something else I’d really love to give a go too!

  • Sugarnova Beary Cute Gummies Washi Tape – (link)

I recently made a purchase with Sugarnova where I ordered some of the enamel pins from their Halloween collection (Lollipop Ghost and Trick or Treat Yo’Self Ghost) but some of the packaging they arrived in had been secured with some super adorable washi tape and I fell in love with it. So much so that I cut around the washi tape and used it as a bookmark for my work diary! I was going to reach out to Sugarova via Instagram to ask where/who it was from, but I discovered through their Instagram grid that it was in fact their own design and washi tape. I WISH I HAD OF KNOWN. I WOULD HAVE ORDERED SOONER! So, in the future I’ll be purchasing this washi tape… A couple of rolls to be honest with you as it’s so cheap, less than ยฃ3.00! The design is a row of gummy bears doing unique poses based on their colours, my favourite being the little red bear.

  • FromCaliko Pokemon Eeveelution Double Sided Zip Bag – (link)

This is a zip bag I have wanted for years but just never bought due to the shipping costs… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ It went out of stock a while ago and I was wary it might never return. However, a few nights ago I checked their Etsy store AND it was back in stock! I really want to pick it up to be honest with you as it’s such an adorable design… But I don’t have a bloody clue what I would use it for at the moment, apart from maybe some stuff to do with my blog content, stickers, etc etc. I’ve shown it to Dane so I may get it for Christmas… Who knows. xD Also my friend Sarah over at Raiin Monkey reviewed this zip back over on her blog so make sure to go and check that out!

  • Jenni Illustrations Soda Dog Keychain – (link)

If you guys didn’t read my post about Jenni Illustrations a few months back (you can read it here) I mentioned how much I love her original character Soda Dog and how I need more items with him on, including the keychain. I would still really love this keychain that I would add to my Isabelle ita bag! It just reminds me of Japan so much and considering that was the best thing about 2020, I’d like to keep my love of Japan and memories going for as long as possible.

  • Black Milk Clothing Sporty Stripes Hosiery 2.0 – (link)

As regular readers of my blog will know I have been a fan of Black Milk Clothing pretty much since my blog started in 2012. Over the years I have purchased from the second hand/brand new with tags from sellers on both eBay and Depop. However this year I decided to start buying direct from Black Milk Clothing when a collection launched that I liked the look of, alas Pokemon (you can read about what I picked up here) and Animal Crossing (my goods are still to arrive…). I would love to pick up these sporty stripes leggings/tights when they’re back in stock as they look amazing! I’ve been after something like this for a while now to wear with dresses that come up a little on the short side. The Halloween collection contains an orange pair and the Christmas collection contains a red and green pair. I’d love the red pair too, but I don’t think I could make them work with as much as the black pair.

  • EMP Deadpool Peek A Boo T-Shirt – (link)

Finally we have some Deadpool merch to share and I feel like I haven’t mentioned Deadpool much on my blog since the second film came out in 2018! I was looking around EMP for some Christmas present ideas (both for me and other people) and found this really cute Deadpool t-shirt where he’s peeping out of the pocket on the left hand side. There was a point where I wore these style of t-shirts all the time so whenever I see them nowhere days they do remind me of 23-25 year old Nat. ๐Ÿ˜›

So that’s all the items for this months wish list post! I would really love to buy some goodies from this list but with Christmas presents taking priority… I need to buy goodies for others instead. ๐Ÿ˜›

What items do you have on your wish lists this month? To think before we know it it’ll be the start of December and I’ll be talking about items I either want to buy for that month and/or my Christmas wish list!

Make sure to let me know what you think of the items on my wish list this month, as well as what you have on your wish lists!

Until next time, take care all and keep safe during second lockdown here in the UK. ๐Ÿ™‚

October Favourites โ€™20

Can you believe it’s November already? October really did go by in the blink of an eye and quite frankly I’m glad. I mentioned back in my September favourites that I’d lost a family member and that grief went through from September to October. I still feel sensitive some days but I’m so busy with work, I’m managing okay.

October was a strange month. I was incredibly busy with work towards the end and I’ve kind of been a hermit and got on with my own thing. As well as that we all know it was Halloween on Saturday and as depressing as I sound, it didn’t go to plan as much or as well as I’d hoped.

We went to a pumpkin patch to pick our own for the first time and it was shit. It rained, we seemed to grab the only decent pumpkins left and it felt very rushed at the farm we went to. I certainly won’t go there again next year.

We carved our pumpkins when we got home, ordered takeaway for dinner and watching scary movies. OH and of course I played Animal Crossing! Two days passed and today we’ve had to throw away the pumpkins as they had started to turn… What a let down. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I can’t complain too much though. We got to see family briefly in the afternoon and we spent most of the day together. For next year I may visit another pumpkin patch, but I won’t be buying any pumpkins and I especially won’t be paying a fee to go in…

Image
Image taken from The Latest Kate

I thought I would share a spooky image this month from The Latest Kate. I love it so much and the little spooky ghosts are so cute!

As you may have noticed (if you’re a regular reader) this months favourites is up a day late… SHOCKER! Basically due to being so busy in the week with work I’ve been shattered and then the weekend I was busy with Halloween and D&D session with friends.

BUT it’s here now and it’s better now than never ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Happy Melon Sabrina Bubble Bath.

I recently bought myself some goodies from the indie bath brand Happy Melon and I don’t regret it! I picked up two bubble baths, but Sabrina is the one I’ll be talking about this month. This is a gorgeous purple bubble bath that smells of Lush’s famous Snow Fairy shower gel. A little goes a long way with this product and it’s been such a pleasure to use in the evenings when I need a good soak after work. The scent lasts for AGES after too which is always good and leaves the bath with a gorgeous purple/pink colour. I highly recommend the bubble baths by Happy Melon and although their stock has sold out on the website at the moment, if you give them a follow on Instagram they post updates on when the store will be stocked up with goodies.

  • Pineapple Cuticle Oil.

This is a cuticle oil from and by my nail technician, I don’t want to mention names to try and keep some privacy my end. I can’t not mention this cuticle oil though as it’s amazing! The smell reminds me of a yummy shower gel I owned back when I was a student, as well as summer holidays abroad both as a child and as an adult. The pen format is perfect too as it’s great to use on the go. When I went to Japan I took one of my previous cuticle oil pens too by my nail technician as it was so handy whilst travelling and out and about. But yes, this is amazing! My nail technician does sell them on her website so if you know me well and would like to get one, DM me and I can link you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Tisserand Tea Tree Pure Essential Oil.

I love this essential oil so much! Dane’s parents bought it for me a few birthdays back alongside my unicorn diffuser and it’s something I find myself using all the time. I especially love using it at night before I’m about to go to sleep, as well as during the day when I’m cleaning and doing housework. Considering how long I’ve owned it, I’m only halfway through the bottle in question. I honestly recommend their essential oils if you’re looking to buy one or two. You can get them on Amazon as well!

  • Collection Colour Lash All Day Wear Colour Mascara Clear.

This is a definitely an oldย  beauty favourite of mine and of late I feel like I’ve needed to use it loads… I don’t know why! My eyebrows are just rebelling at the moment and going all over the place. This is actually a clear mascara but I use it on my eyebrows as it costs sod all (just ยฃ1.99!) and works really really well for the price. I highly recommend if you want a cheap brow gel, this one is good. Some brands will charge a fortune for a clear brow gel and they probably don’t work half as well as this does. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Lโ€™Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Liquid Care (review here).

I thought I would mention this product this month as it’s one I use all the time and it’s really been good this month. With the temperature change happening so quickly my skin has really suffered this year. I really love this moisturiser as it’s so hydrating and I always feel like my skin has had a massive drink. It lasts me ages too as a little bit goes a long way. I use the normal to combination moisturiser and it works perfect for my skin. I’ve just bought myself a new bottle and my skin is very happy about that. ๐Ÿ˜›

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show โ€“ย The Haunting of Bly Manor.

This horror series was AMAZING and I already can’t wait for potentially another “The Haunting” style show by Mike Flanagan. If you didn’t know he also createdย The Haunting of Hill House.ย I loved this show so much, you’re constantly questioning what is happening and on the edge of your seat. We binge watched this pretty quickly and it had the same amount of suspense and nail biting as The Haunting of Hill House did. We did find that the genre of this show went from one thing to another… I’m not going to say anything as it could spoil and ruin it for people who haven’t watched it yet. This is a Netflix exclusive show, so if you haven’t seen it already, GET TO IT!

Favourite Movie โ€“ Brรผno.

I’m not lying when I say I’ve never watchedย Borat or Brรผno…ย It was only from the newย Boratย film coming out on Amazon Prime that me and Dane decided to have a Sacha Baron Cohen marathon and basically have me watch everything he’s ever done. The only film I have ever watched was Ali G Indahouse and I LOVED that growing up. Out of all the films we watched, Brรผno was the best one for sure! I was told by loads of people “How can you not like his work?” and I think it’s because I found it dumb at the time. Now I look back, I loveย Jackass, Viva La Bam and Dirty Sanchezย which are REALLY dumb, so how can I not like his work? Brรผno is just fucking hilarious, end of.

Favourite Book โ€“ No reading for me again…

Yeah I didn’t read. To be honest I didn’t have the mental capacity to do any reading and I was so tired from work all I wanted to do was chill out in front of my phone, laptop, TV or switch lite. I’m gutted to be honest as I have so much to read… I will keep trying. I need to spend more evenings reading.

Favourite Music โ€“ PVRIS – ย Use Me (Deluxe).

I’m mentioningย Use Meย again this month as quite honestly I’ve listening to this album more this month and I have proper fallen in love with it. I feel I’ve listened to it more because I decided to buy the Deluxe version, which came out a couple of weeks back. It’s been on repeat whilst I’m working and whilst I’m out and about, both walking and in the car. I felt like I couldn’t get into the album at first and I think it’s due to some of the tracks being from previously released singles and EPs. Plus due to buying the normal version on iTunes, the tracks from the EPs that I already owned messed up, so I only had half an album! However now I have the fill album, I’ve found myself listening to it more. All the tracks really compliment one another and everything works so well. The new tracks really do stand out too, with one track in particular which I have fallen in love with, which is “Stay Gold”. This track is amazing and I find myself dancing to it quite often whilst I do the simplest of things… Aka make myself a cup of coffee. ๐Ÿ˜›

Favourite Game โ€“ Among Us.

I have fallen in love with this game! Mine and Dane’s friends have played it altogether over a couple of Saturday nights in October and we cannot get enough. It’s so much fun, especially with a big group of people. I’m crap at being the imposter and always get caught as soon as I’ve killed someone. I’ve only been the imposter twice as well, thankfully! ๐Ÿ˜› The thing I love the most is when you discuss with everyone about a body and who the killer might be. We all have our little jokes and quirks with one another and some of us can suss if someone is fibbing. I know straight away half the time if Dane is being honest or not. It’s just a fun game and it costs next to nothing to buy! It’s free on mobile phones and ยฃ3.99 on Steam. I have it on PC and definitely recommend it there, but at least on mobile phones you know you can get it cheaply. ๐Ÿ™‚

So there we have it guys, that’s my favourites from October! Can you believe it’s already November and before we know it we’ll be starting to open up advent calendars? It’s crazy isn’t it?

What were your favourites from October? Make sure to let me know in the comments below!

Until next time guys, I hope you’re keeping safe and well during these hard times and please remember… This won’t last forever. โค
