Wish List Wednesday – London

Of course I’m due to go to London in a months time and I know that is going to fly by! Like Bristol, I’ll be popping to the shops a week before I’m due to go to pick up some bits and pieces I can used whilst I’m away. This is what this wish list is for! I may also mention in a separate wish list post which items I’ll be trying to pick up whilst I’m in London. *cough* LUSH *cough*

Some of these things I would like to pick up anyway and London is sort of an excuse for this, at the same time it’s also things I would like to have for London.

  •  John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo and Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray.

When John Frieda brought this collection back out a month or so ago, I had such a nostalgic moment. I remember when I was a kid when all the “cool” girls in the playground used the spray in their hair. It was the “it” product and was something I lusted after for years. However my mom would never buy it for me and she wouldn’t let me buy it with my own pocket money either. I won’t lie when I admit that I contemplated stealing it once just so I could have it, and she wouldn’t find out about me buying it either. But I knew better and left it… Don’t steal kids! Anyway… Now I’m old enough I can buy it for myself and from what I remember this spray isn’t as harsh on hair as many of the sea salt sprays on the market are. I’ve already tried one and although it made my hair look and feel gorgeous, it was a bit too much for my liking. I remember trying this as a kid once or twice when the “cool” girls let me try it out. I mostly remember how gorgeous it smelt, like coconuts. Nom! I want that again so I’m going to pick this up in time for summer, and London. Also in the range is the shampoo, which sounds so nice! I don’t really need any shampoo as I already have my eye on one I want to pick up (check my wish list for June here) but I’d like one to take with me to London for both me and my boyfriend to use. I would end up sending it over to his house so that I could use it there whenever I wash my hair, as the current shampoo I use there is pretty lame and makes my hair go really flat… It used to work wonders before! I’ll have to contemplate this mind, as I do really have my eyes set on the Neal & Wolf shampoo.

  • Evian Facial Spray.

I’m going to be a little honest here when I say, if I buy water whilst I’m out and about, I won’t buy anything else other than Evian (if I have that choice of course) because it’s the best one you can buy! I’ve used their facial spray in the past when it first came out and it’s gorgeous! It’s also expensive… But if you look in the right places you can pick up a bargain. As me and my boyfriend will be at Hyper Japan all day the second day of our stay in London, we’re going to be HOT! So I thought it might be a good idea to pick up a cooling spray. I know there are loads out there, but searching online the only one I’m seeming to find (I’m probably not searching hard enough!) is this one. I doubt this will be the one I pick up due to the price, but if I wanted a splurge, I would.

  • Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner.

I’ve been eying this up for a while now as I LOVE wearing lipstick. However, I don’t like only have three lip liners (red, pinky nude, and raspberry pink) that won’t suit the needs of all my lipsticks. This is where this lip liner will be great for this. It’s a clear one, so it can be applied under any colour lipstick and it’ll still do the same job as any other. Plus I imagine from the moisture in the name that it helps keep your lips nice and hydrated throughout the day. This is what I need for London, as whilst I’ll be walking around all day and kept busy, I don’t really want to worry that my lipstick isn’t perfect. I’ve tried this out in Boots before and it does look like a great product, and for less than £4.00 you can’t complain either!

  • Reeses Pajamas from Primark.

I recently spotted these gorgeous pajamas on Primark’s Instagram and since I have fallen in love! I haven’t been near a Primark to pick them up yet, but I’ll hopefully be able to the weekend when I’m near one. I don’t own a pair of short pajamas that I really like so these would be great for the warm summer months. They’ll also be ideal for London because of it. They’re only £10, which you can’t say is a bad price. They also sell underwear and boxers too, so I may just have to pick some of those up for myself and my boyfriend. 😛

  • Aussie Shower Gel in Fresh Mate.

If there is one thing I love about the Aussie hair care range, it’s the smell. Oh my Gosh, heaven in a bottle. When I was on holiday for the first couple of days I used an Aussie shampoo and not only did it leave my hair feeling and looking great, it smelt great too. So when Aussie announced they would bring out a shower gel range, I was pretty excited. This is the one that smells just like the shampoo I used whilst I was away. Need it in my life! Not only do I want this to take away with us to use during our time in London, but I want it to use anyway. I’ve wanted to try it for ages, but I refuse to buy it until it is on offer! I want to try all the different versions, although I can see me liking this one the most.

  • Quickies Nail Varnish Remover Travel Pot.

I don’t know if I’ll pick this up, but it’s always a good idea to think about. When I went to Bristol I didn’t paint my nails, but when I got there I did, due to picking up some nail polishes. I’m pretty sure I’m going to be painting my nails this time, before I go but I have contemplating painting them again whilst I’m there. So something like this can come in handy for if I need to remove my nail polish quickly, or if I paint them and make any mess. At a £1, you’re not going to break the bank. If I pick any up, it’ll be a last-minute thing.

  • My Neighbour Totoro Sweatshirt.

I’ve seen this in the past on eBay and contemplated buying it, but in the end I left it. However, I had my eye on it again… Whether I pick it up for London or not is another story. My boyfriend asked me what I would be wearing for Hyper Japan, and I honestly don’t know! I want to make a statement of course and look awesome whilst doing it, and this sweater could be something cool to rock up wearing. However, I need to save money and I have other items in my wardrobe I can throw on for the day. If I pick this up, again it’ll be very last-minute…

So that’s my wish list for London! I will of course be basing my July wish list around what I am hoping to pick up in London… I might even do a Lush Oxford wish list too… We shall see!

Do you have any suggestions of what I should take with me to London? Let me know in the comments!

I hope everyone is having a great week.

Take care and see you soon!

Badged up for Spring & Summer – What I Wore (12th April 2015)

Doesn’t hurt to start the post with a silly picture!

I haven’t made a what I wore post for ages and I already intend to have another one up on my blog towards the end of the month. I used to love doing these posts and being able to show off my unique style. These days however I either don’t have time, or make zero effort.

I recently picked up a new jacket though from Topshop and it’s one I’ve wanted for months. So long infact I mentioned it in a wish list post last year. June to be exact. I remember eying this up in Coventry and wanting to buy it. Then stating I would pick it up when I went to Bristol. I never did mind and in December and January  it went into the sales. I went to pick it up then so many times, but I never did due to trying to save money. I do regret that, especially when I looked for it again and it was gone. I was gutted.

Only recently did I think about it again and check out eBay. I’m a huge fan of eBay and have been for a long time, something regular readers on my blog will know!

This jacket (from memory) was originally £50-£60, it went into the sale for £25-£30 and I picked this up on eBay for £25.50. I’m happy with that! Yes it was worn a few times by the original owner and it needed a wash, but that doesn’t bother me at all.

Glasses – Ernest Hemingway.

Lips – Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob.

Black t-shirt (underneath jacket) – Primark.

American flag denim shorts (underneath jacket) – Topshop.

Tights – Tesco.

Sneakers – Vans (LE Star Wars Darth Vader).

I love it and since buying it I’ve worn it constantly. I love my parka from Topshop for cold spring and autumn days, and especially for freezing cold winter. But for the warmer days in spring and autumn, and definitely hot summer days, I NEEDED a good transition jacket.

This is perfect. I’ve always loved the military style look and ten years ago I owned a jacket exactly the same as this. If it still fit me, I would wear it.

I feel so confident and great when I wear this and it’s something I’ll be excited to create more looks and posts about in the future.

I really enjoyed taking these pictures, especially some of the ones my boyfriend took closer to my face as they just look really cool. It was also cool to edit these images and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Me and my boyfriend had a lovely day out and whilst the weather wasn’t amazing, it was just great to walk around and relax. We went out for a pub lunch too and it was nice to just get out of the house and do something other than uni work!

I can’t wait for the nicer weather, I’m excited.

What did you think of my outfit? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time, take care all and see you soon.

Do I Look 60’s Enough Yet? – What I Wore (13th September 2014)

Another what I wore post, already?! Wow I’m really on the ball this month, aren’t I? I think it’s because I love September so much and with some new knit wear to try out I’m likely to want to do posts about what I’m wearing.

I love autumn and with it finally coming up next week I’m getting out my jumpers and cardigans to wrap up warm in and after buying myself two new jumpers and a cardigan a few weeks back I’m ready for autumn already!

On Saturday my boyfriend and I decided to go for an afternoon walk and so I took him to a park in Birmingham that he had never been to before, due to him being from Coventry. We had a good walk around, enjoying the nature as well as the wildlife in the area whilst we both did a spot of photography too.

It was a last-minute decision to take some pictures for a look post on my blog and whilst the pictures aren’t the best in the world, I really like them and I especially love the outfit I wore as it was comfortable, warm and perfect for a late summer walk.

Glasses – Ernest Hemingway.

Lips – Maybelline Superstay 10hr Tint Gloss in Forever Coral.

Mustard Jumper – Zara.

Tartan Skirt – Primark.

Tights – Tesco.

Chelsea Boots – Topshop.

Wow how 60’s does my outfit look eh? Mustard jumper and a blue skirt! This reminds me of the sort of outfit my Mom would have worn when she was my age.

With my autumn clothing I love big baggy jumpers you can really snuggle into, as well as ones that make you feel toasty and warm without the need of a coat! I’m obsessed with the colour mustard this year and have literally been pining after a mustard jumper. So when I went shopping with my friend Poppy a few Saturday’s ago I just KNEW I needed to buy one. We didn’t have to look far for me to find one and I spotted this gorgeous mustard jumper in Zara. I only ever look in Zara when I’m out shopping with Poppy and I don’t know why because their autumn and winter pieces are amazing! Think I will be venturing in there more this year. As well as that I picked up another mustard jumper from Forever 21, but that one is a turtle neck. I’ll be sure to wear that soon for a look post!

I love my new jumper from Zara and is already one of my favourite jumpers that I can see me wearing a lot in both autumn and winter. This would look great with a pair of skinny fit jeans, and a white or black shirt underneath with the collar peeking out of the top. This jumper makes me feel really good about myself as it isn’t too tight or too baggy and really feels good on my body whilst I wear it.

My skirt was a complete bargain from Primark! It was only £5 and is perfect for all year around, especially autumn and winter due to the blue and grey shades of tartan. I’ve worn this with all sorts of clothing and whilst I love this skirt it is on the short side, so does tend to make me paranoid… But with a good pair of tights and someone to warn me of any bum shots, it’s wearable.

As I have been so much lately, I wore my Chelsea boots with this outfit. They work with pretty much everything and are super comfortable and warm, as well as looking amazing. They really compliment this outfit which makes me happy.

I can safely say that I thoroughly enjoyed mine and my boyfriends walk around the park. We spotted some squirrels running around the leaves and having a feed in the trees, some ducks having a rest, some geese pestering us to feed them and finally a caterpillar finding an attraction to one of my boots. Clearly he/she had taste!

Either way this will be the perfect outfit for autumn and with only a week left to prep for all the gorgeous autumn days, I think I’m near enough ready!

And of course in true what I wore post spirit I always post a picture of me and my boyfriend, or at least a picture of him.

He’s so precious!

Oh and speaking of autumn, you like my new header? I love it!

So, what do you think of my look? What colours are you liking this autumn? Let me know all your answers in the comments down below!

Until next time take care all and have a good week.

Dr Martens & Topshop Shoe Dupes…?

Today is a very different post from usual… It’s a fashion post! One I haven’t done for quite a while, sorry about that.

Recently I decided that I would like some new flat shoes, not your standard ballet pumps but something different, with a bit more of an edge and more tomboyish than your usual flat shoes, but something similar to brothel creepers (which I live in when I’m not wearing my ballet flats).

Dr Martens 1461 Shoe (Image taken from www.drmartens.com)

I had a look on Dr Martens website as whilst my favourite style of boot is of course their 1460, I have started to grow more towards their 1461 shoe too but at their £80.00 price tag, I knew I wouldn’t be buying any for quite some time. I wouldn’t necessarily go for the patent pair, as they just look a little too shiny, but I have linked this pair for a reason (as you shall see soon). These of course come in normal leather, different colours, different designs, etc. I’ve seen in the flesh myself how Dr Martens are made and although pricey, for £80.00 you are getting a well made pair of shoes that will last you a very long time! However you don’t wish to pay £80.00 for a pair of these then go to eBay! I bought my patent 1460 boots off eBay for less than £30! Yes they are second hand, but they were already worn in for me and are amazing. I’ve worn them loads since buying them so they were worth every penny for sure.

Topshop Kooler Heavy Sole Shoes (Image taken from www.topshop.com)

Topshop Kooler Heavy Sole Shoes (Image taken from www.topshop.com)

Recently someone I follow on Instagram bought these shoes and took a picture of them on her account and I instantly fell in love. Literally searched high and low for where she bought these from and eventually found out they were from Topshop, which I should have known really considering she works there. As you can see they look very similar to Dr Martens 1461 shoes, but the sole of the shoe looks a lot thicker, which I really like! Shoes have gone back to the 90’s the past could of years and instead of having a normal sole, they’d adapted to the double sole and larger! These shoes come in five different variations. You have white leather, blue box leather, black leather, black box leather (which is what the ones above are) and finally red box leather. So the choices are varied! They’re a little cheap than Dr Martens 1461 shoe at £62.00 and I was close to picking a pair of these up in the near future, as whilst it was still pricey, they seemed reasonable. I’ve bought Topshop shoes before and I love them a lot! I bought my Chelsea boots from Topshop and whilst buying them was a nightmare they were worth it and I look forward to wearing them again in the autumn.

However, there is a dupe pair for both of these shoes that are less than half the price of both of these shoes, can you believe it? Well start to because I introduce to you, my new shoes…

DSC_0003

These are from Primark and guess how much they were? You guessed yet? These babies only cost me £14.00. YES! You read correct, £14.00!

Whilst having a mooch around Selfridges with my best friend and my boyfriend we had a look at the Primark section at what they had, as we were too lazy and not brave enough to venture to the actual Primark store. I found these and tried them on and I won’t lie, they were a little tight when I tried them on but this was due to the laces not being adjusted to my feet yet, plus the fact they’re new shoes. I took them to the till and couldn’t wait to get them home to try them on once again!

Now it’s been a week since buying these and I’m only just starting to wear them in so I can’t really comment much on the shoe itself, but I can say a few things about them.

DSC_0004

First thing, they are gorgeous to look at and whilst they will take some breaking in and more than likely blister my ankles, I think these will be lovely once that process is over and done with. I’ll make sure to wear thick socks and plenty of plasters!

These aren’t a plain style like the Dr Martens 1461 shoes and the shoes from Topshop, they have a brogue style on them, which I really like as it just looks that little bit more tomboyish, which is always a look I go for for when autumn and winter are upon us!

Of course being £14.00 shoes, these aren’t real leather which doesn’t really bother me and as you can see, they are patent which is nice. It’s a lot easier to clean than leather/pleather too.

The grip on  the bottoms of these are crap, I won’t lie. But I didn’t expect the grip to be amazing so I’m hardly surprised, thus it doesn’t really bother me, but for those who may think the grip on these will be amazing, you’ll be disappointed! I’m sure with some wear these will get a natural grip.

DSC_0009

I know exactly what I’ll be wearing with these shoes, plenty of black, grey, navy and wine coloured pieces! Black skinny fits with some patterned socks will look amazing, alongside with a shirt for a smart look, or a baggy jumper for a laid back look. I’d also team these up with tights and a pretty dress… Black of course! These would also look amazing with a jumper dress for a slouchy and laid back look. I actually can’t wait to do a look with these on my blog in the future.

DSC_0010 1

Overall I love my new shoes and I hope they’ll last me a while for £14.00! If they happen to be worn a lot and sadly decide to fall apart on me, I could see me purchasing the Topshop or the Dr Martens pair. I have wanted a pair of shoes like this for a long time and I’ve finally picked them up!

So, would you splurge out on a pair of these shoes, or save some pennies and go for the cheaper and more cheerful option?

Let me know in the comments!

I’ve really enjoyed writing this post today, I hope to have some looks featured on my blog in the future with these shoes.

Until next time, take care all and have a good weekend.

Random (But Small) Haul

DSC_0021

Okay now I KNOW I’m on a spending ban and that I didn’t need most of what I bought on this random trip into town… But I did buy things and there’s nothing that can be done about it now!

I have my first photography related job next Saturday and I wanted to pick up something nice to wear, plus the fact I had my eye on one of the items for a while gave me more reason to try it on and possibly buy it.

Alongside that I had to buy some other bits and bobs and I did buy a few things I didn’t need but they were less than £10 so I thought, what the hell!

I didn’t spend all that much and the things I bought I was pretty much in need of anyway or wanted to treat myself.

So, here’s my random haul from yesterday!

DSC_0028

The first shop I went into when my boyfriend and I got to town was New Look. I’ve been lusting after this dress since I saw it in one of the Coventry stores a couple of weeks ago. It’s a gorgeous 2 in 1 t-shirt dress and will be perfect for spring and summer! It’s not the thickest of materials, but that doesn’t bother me, as with a warm coat, a scarf, some thick tights and my Chelsea boots, this will look great! I’m doing my first “professional” photography job next Saturday and as the dress is smart casual, I saw the chance to finally pick up this dress! It was £14.99, which I thought was reasonable! I went to try it on in the changing rooms and it looks lovely. My only problem with this dress is that the pink top area is very see-through and due to this I had to pick up a new bra so that none of mine would show through… Which you will see in the next picture.

DSC_0025

DSC_0026

I ventured into Primark to pick up a cheap bra, as I didn’t want to splurge out on something expensive, so after trying on a few of the bras, I opted for this pink t-shirt bra. It only cost £2.50, so I couldn’t go wrong really! This being said, when I got home I tried on the bra with the dress and you can still see straight through it! But with a white vest underneath, it looks fine so my problem is now solved. Whilst I was waiting in the large queue to purchase my items, I saw that they had some Montagne Jeunesse face masks that not only sounded delicious, but ones I haven’t tried yet, so I snapped them up, at only 90p each, you can’t go wrong!

When I was on the escalator to go and look at the bras I spotted this Nirvana t-shirt on the middle floor and I was determined to go and take a look at it before I went to pay for my goods. I picked this up for just £8.00! I did have a look at the other t-shirts whilst I was in Primark and the majority of them are all My Little Pony… Odd! I tried this t-shirt on when I got home and it’s gorgeous! It’s a nice baggy, but fitted t-shirt and is super soft! I’m going to wear it next week when I go out with my friend Amy into Birmingham for the day, as well as for my cousin’s 21st birthday meal. I’m going to team it up with my newest Topshop jeans, Chelsea boots and a big coat to keep me warm.

DSC_0022

I have been after this book since I watched the film in 2013, as I’ve heard nothing but good things about it! I had remembered seeing it in HMV for £3 or £4 before Christmas and had regretted not picking it up! I looked online earlier this week for how much this was being sold on Amazon, Play.com, eBay, etc and they were all asking for over £4! I decided against paying out that much and that I would check in HMV the next time I ventured there. So alas upon looking for this book I found it and at just £3.99! Complete bargain and I’ll be reading this after I’ve finished the current book I’m reading, which is Simon Pegg’s autobiography, Nerd Do Well.

DSC_0024

My final stop for the day was Boots, where I just popped in to pick up some essentials, such as hand wash, toothpaste and some glasses cleaner. This isn’t the usual glasses cleaner I pick up, but it’ll do for now until I pick up what I usually use.

So that was everything I bought whilst I was odd… That and the £25 I spent buying food in YO! Sushi. My boyfriend and I couldn’t believe how much the bill came to and we’ve both said we’re never going again unless it’s on a Monday or Sunday. We much prefer Wagamama and even though it was nice trying the dishes in YO! Sushi, we somewhat wished we had gone to Wagamama now…

Altogether (apart from my food!) I spent less than £50! Not bad huh?

I know I’ve somewhat broke my spending ban, but whatever, I’ve not done too badly so far so let’s just say this was my little treat.

Have you bought anything nice recently? If so, what have you bought? Let me know in the comments down below!

I’m hoping to get some What I Wore posts up on my blog in the future, as I really do miss writing them and with my wardrobe slightly changing of late, I’d like to show off what I’ve been wearing.

So, until next time, take care all and I hope everyone has had a great week and an even greater weekend!

A Sunday Catch-Up Haul

DSC_0010

So last Sunday my friend Poppy and I met up after 4 months of not seeing one another to have a much-needed catch-up, as well as do a little bit of shopping. We were both super excited and couldn’t wait to get together to do what we do best, drink coffee and talk about make-up!

I told myself I wouldn’t spend much and in just a few hours I spent about £50… Oops! I won’t be treating myself for ages though now and will be making sure to save up as much as possible!

Otherwise I’m not that bothered, it was a lovely day and all the things I bought were definite essentials and at one point I came out with something that sounded rather like something Rebecca Brandon (née Bloomwood) would say from the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella… (I love that series!) But I’ll explain that later into this post!

The weather was pretty crap but I’d started my journey to town rather well, as I made my way from Coventry for a change. The train journey was pleasant and it only took me 20 minutes to get to Birmingham. It’s weird, from where I live it can take maximum an hour, but yet from Coventry it doesn’t even take half an hour… Weird, huh?

As soon as we met up we went to go and get hot chocolate to warm us up as it was pretty chilly and was raining none stop! I enjoyed my mint hot chocolate, Poppy enjoyed her soya hot chocolate and when we were warmed up and had a mini catch-up we headed over to Zara to make a must-needed purchase.

Poppy had her eye on the Mini Office City Bag (which you can find here) which she picked up in Navy. I’d never bought anything from Zara before, so I’d never looked at the bags either and I was expecting this bag to be at least £40-£50 but when she said it was £29.99 I was really surprised! She picked it up in navy and it looks gorgeous, she wore it all day whilst we carried on shopping. I’ve never seen someone so pleased with a new bag purchase before, she is adorable, bless her. FYI this bag also comes in burgundy, which looks really nice!

After this I made Poppy come with me into Primark, while as boring as I sound right now, I needed some new socks for work but I left with a new set of pajamas too!

DSC_0006

DSC_0007

I’m a big kid when it comes to 101 Dalmatians, like most people are about The Lion King or any of the Disney Princesses. Lady & The Tramp and Bambi are included in this too. I’d heard from a friend that Primark were selling 101 Dalmatians pajamas, which made sense as I recently bought myself some slippers of the same Disney movie from Primark too. There were two different sets, this one, which as you can see is shorts and another with had trousers, but out of the two, this was the only set in my size! I’m going to be checking quite a few Primark stores throughout the month to try and track down the other set. I really could do with some new pajamas and I might as well get some cute ones that I’ll love. I own too many 101 Dalmatians pajamas sets now… It’s a tad worrying! This set was £7, which I thought was good! I had a very anxious Wednesday afternoon so as soon as I got home I had a relaxing bubble bath, put on my new pajamas and slipped into bed to relax some more for the evening. These are really soft and fit comfortably, well worth the money I paid for them! If you would like to pick these up but sadly can’t find them in Primark anymore, they do have them on eBay, but they’re more expensive than they are in the shops, which is a bit crap.

Finally after making our way out of Primark we headed back to Zara as I saw something in there I really wanted and just had to have after spotting it from our previous visit there.

DSC_0008

DSC_0009

We walked past many hooks with scarves hanging off of them in Zara but this one stood out to me the most, a black and red striped scarf, that is long enough to wrap around yours as well as another person’s neck beside you. This is described on the Zara website as a Long Narrow Scarf With Stripes (which you can find here) and I got it in burgundy. The red is looking brighter on the pictures I took, when it’s more of a wine red, which I really like. This is super warm and since buying it I’ve been wearing it to and from work in the car, as well as when I went out Wednesday. I can really snuggle my face into my scarf, which I like and I haven’t bought myself a decent scarf for quite a few years now, as I’ve been a snood lover for a while. This was £19.99 which shocked me when I checked out the price tag, as every time I have been into Zara, their clothes have always seemed really expensive to me, but for how big and how warm this scarf is, the price didn’t bother me at all. This was a real treat today and one that I don’t think I’ll be regretting anytime soon. It goes with everything from my pleather spiked biker jacket, to my navy military coat, to even a grey or navy boyfriend cardigan. This will keep me really warm this autumn and winter and with the weather becoming so bitter and cold, it looks like I chose the perfect time to buy this.

We wandered around for a while, including Selfridges where I found out how much I need certain Laura Mercier products in my life (post about those in a few days!) as well as finally swatching MAC Speak Louder, which will definitely be my next MAC purchase… When however, I don’t know!

We went for lunch and some tea, as well as more catching-up and one of our last stops was to Boots, where I needed to pick up some essentials, as well as a few treats.

DSC_0002

I had a list inside my head of certain things I needed to get, but I ended up bringing home a couple of things I really didn’t need. At the moment Boots are doing one of their 3 for 2 deals, so although I didn’t intend on doing this, I ended up being sucked into it and picked up three items, getting one free, hooray!

I knew I wanted to pick up Vaseline’s latest limited edition, Paint The Town Red lip tint as whilst some beauty bloggers had reviewed it as overrated and rubbish, most had reviewed it as being a lovely product to use on their lips and went on how good it was. So I decided to pick it up for myself! I’ve been using this loads since I bought it and I’ll definitely be writing a review for it! It leaves a lovely dark pink tint to the lips, which is perfect if you don’t fancy wearing lipstick but would like a hint of colour, plus it smells gorgeous and it reminds me of autumn. This was £3.49 but so worth it and I know come Christmas I’ll be buying these for my Vaseline loving friends, as well as picking some more up for myself before they’re taken off the shelves. If you can’t find this in stores to buy, you can pick it up from Boots and Superdrug.

Oral-B 3D White Brilliance toothpaste is the only one I’ll use since it came out… Well until something I think is better than this one comes out anyway! My Mom bought us some to try when it first came out a couple of years ago and since then whenever I’m close to running out, I’ll pick up a new tube. I run out of this every 3 months or so and since using it my teeth just look so much better and even my dentist agreed! It’s £3.49 a tube but it doesn’t bother me, as I really like this toothpaste and I use it day and night!

I nearly forgot I needed shave gel and I haven’t treated myself to a nice, woman’s shaving gel for quite a long time now! I usually opt for men’s shaving foam as it does a great job, but after buying a cheap can of shaving foam, my legs ended up breaking out in a terrible rash from an allergic reaction and I felt like the skin was being taken off of my legs, instead of my hairs. For a while I discontinued using any shave foams or gels and opted for using conditioners and shower gels instead, which didn’t do so much better for my skin either! When I looked at the women’s shave gels I saw that certain Gillette shave gels were on offer at £1.74 each, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to have one of these. I decided upon the Satin Care with Touch of Olay for Sensitive Skin as it sounded rather appealing. Not only is it suitable for sensitive skin but it also moisturises as you shave, which is exactly what I need for my legs of late! I gave this a go on Wednesday during my relaxing bath and afterwards my legs felt so beautiful and smooth and shaving them with this gel felt lovely too. I don’t think I would repurchase this at its full price of £3.49, but if I got it on offer again, I don’t see why not!

I needed to get another product for make my 3 for 2 offer and even though I don’t need anymore shower products, this seemed like something I wanted to give a go after Poppy telling me how lovely it smelt. I love strawberry scents, even though I hate them to eat or drink. I gave this a sniff and it reminded me of the Strawberry Shower Gel by The Body Shop, which is a firm favourite from my childhood. I’ve used Natural Collection products since I was a child too and Wild Strawberry has been around for ages, but I don’t recall ever trying it myself! The shower cream sounded yummy and as it was £2.00, it became my free product in the 3 for 2 offer! I gave this a go before going to work on Monday and it really did perk me up! It left my bathroom smelling lovely, as well as leaving my skin the same, as well as it being soft too. I’d love to try more of Natural Collection’s shower gels/cremes as although they’re a tad expensive at £2.00 each, it’s not as expensive as some shower products, eh? I can imagine my boyfriend stealing this whenever he comes over in future and I can hardly blame him! You can find this here on Boots website.

Last of all I had thought about picking up a new eye gel whilst shopping in Boots, but I was only going to pick up my good old Simple eye balm, but I wanted to try something new and decided to pick up Soap & Glory’s Puffy Eye Attack Turbo-Boots Hydragel. I’d looked at this before and thought how cooling the gel felt on the back of my hand, so who only knows how it would feel on my eye! I decided to go for it as you only need a little bit for the eyes and it goes a long way! I reckon this little jar will last me for 6 months, if not more! I tried some of this when I got home on the Sunday afternoon and it felt lovely on my eyes and when I’ve used it before going to work and out during the day it’s felt really refreshing on my eyes too! This was a pretty expensive purchase at £12.50 but it was a treat and it’ll last me months! You can pick this up in Boots and a lot of Soap & Glory products are featured in the 3 for 2 offer, which is what I bought mine in. I know I’ll be reviewing this in future as my eye bags can be quite big depending if I’ve had much sleep or not, so I’m going to be trying this little pot out day and night to see how it does!

So after another sit down with some pots of tea and some gossip to be had, it was finally time to go home and at the last-minute Poppy decided to drop me off at home, seeing as it was on her way, which was lovely of her!

I had such a lovely day and it was great to see Poppy again, as I had missed her terribly!

I’m now poor and need to stay in eating cheap meals, but at least I’ll be clean and warm eh?

Have you been shopping recently? What did you buy nice for yourself? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care and I hope you all had a great week.

What I Wore (5th October 2013) *BONUS SOPPYNESS AT THE END!*

Photo 1

Wow it’s been over two months since I last did a what I wore post and I can safely say I have missed doing these posts. The last one I did was during the summer and it was so hot the day me and my boyfriend went out that we wore next to nothing. Now the weather has completely changed and I’m finding myself snuggled up in baggy jumpers and bigger shoes.

During a weekend away at his we decided to go to a children’s farm to go walk around the countryside and see the farm animals that are kept there. I’d never been before and my boyfriend had wanted to take me for a couple of months now, so it was nice to finally be able to go.

We were meant to leave really early but we felt lazy and stayed in bed eating peanut butter Oreos and played GTA V Online, eventually we left to head to the farm, all snuggled up in our warm jumpers.

There will be a post about our trip to the children’s farm tomorrow and Wednesday so keep your eyes peeled for those if you wish to read them.

Anyhoo, on with the outfit I wore, these are by far the best pictures I have ever had taken of me for a what I wore post and they’ve been edited too so they look amazing! I want to thank my boyfriend for both  taking and editing these, he did such an amazing job and no matter what he does, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world right now.

As it seemed chilly out last weekend I decided to pop a beanie on, that and my hair wasn’t having one of its best days and we were in a bit of a hurry to go out. This hat is actually from the men’s section in Urban Outfitters and I bought it on one of mine and my boyfriends first dates, wearing it the day we got together. It’s lovely and warm and big enough to wear folded or unfolded. As I HAVE to wear glasses, I may as well mention that my glasses are by Versace and ultimate geek chic! I love them, won’t be replacing them for a while. The lipstick I decided to wear is Daddy’s Little Girl from the Archie’s Girls Collection by MAC, I wrote a review for this when I first bought it, which you can find linked above. I love this lipstick and I’ve been waiting for the colder months to come back so that I could wear these types of shades again!

Photo 17

I recently bought this jumper from New Look, infact the day before my October Wish List went live was the day I bought this as it went on sale from £24.99 to £12.00, so I tried it on  in store and I decided to buy it. It’s so warm and soft that I’d have been stupid not to buy it! Also as regular readers will know, I love foxes so anything with foxes on that looks nice and fashionable I’ll snap up! This isn’t the most fashionable jumper in the world, but at the end of the day it’s snug, comfortable, warm and looks cute teamed up with a skirt or shorts, which is what I did for this look, as you can see. It’s a cream and burgundy colour so it’s definitely on trend with the autumn colours and I know it’ll be something I’ll wrap myself up in as the weather gets colder.

Photo 12

I’ve owned these shorts since I started university in 2008 so… 5 years now! They’re some of the most comfortable shorts I own and yet the smallest ones I own, size wise. They cost me £10 and with my 10% back when I was a student, I paid next to nothing for these! They go well with anything and everything, they fit comfortably and as well as that, they make my bum look awesome!  I love wearing these during the autumn season with baggy jumpers or a quirky t-shirt with a boyfriend cardigan. I know I’ll be wearing these quite a bit over the autumn season and with one of my boyfriends jackets or hoodies layered on top of a band t-shirt, it’ll make an outfit look rocker chic, no problem! They’re my favourite basic denim shorts and it’s a shame that I haven’t been able to find anymore like this since I bought them.

Photo 15

As regular readers will know, I love wearing my creepers as they’re comfortable, a great alternative to flats or boots and are the perfect item to grunge up an outfit. This is my second pair of creepers after my first pair wore through the bottom and whilst out walking one day I was left with soggy socks and thus very wet feet! To buy a pair of creepers now you don’t need to break the bank and a decent pair won’t cost you no more than £20, I paid that much for my first pair, £15 for this pair. I love the suede finish on my creepers and all black too. I would like some with studs but as of yet I haven’t found a pair I either like or feel worthy of paying the amount of money that they ask for. Either way I love brothel creepers and I wish they had been around for these prices when I was at school, I’d have worn then to school all the time!

Photo 22

These are my two favourite pictures from the day, the one on the left just looks like something you would see on a movie/TV poster or even a book cover and it just looks really nice. It looks natural too, as my boyfriend did pretty much say, “walk away from me for a bit.” to which he would follow me across the grass, towards the pond/lake. The picture on the right just reminds me of the awesome pictures I see fellow beauty and fashion bloggers getting themselves, and the type of thing I myself have tried to get since I started taking pictures for my what I wore section on my blog over a year ago. When I posed for this picture I didn’t think it was actually going to work, but it’s turned out exactly how I wanted it and not long after this image was taken, my boyfriend and I relaxed for a bit together in the field and then headed back to the car to go home.

I really loved today with my boyfriend and I’ll be excited for you guys to read the two adventure posts I have in store for you to read! We both had an amazing day and I can’t wait to share more days like this with him.

Photo 21

I definitely feel like the luckiest woman alive right now, I finally seem to have the type of boyfriend I’ve always wanted. Someone special, kind, who treats me well and the way I wish to be treated and who looks after me when I’m poorly. My mental health hasn’t been too great these past couple of months and my boyfriend has stuck by me through it all, which has meant a lot. Usually people can get scared with this topic and flee as soon as possible, which in the past a lot of people have done, whether they were a partner or a friend. On top of this he is a real cutie, even for a ginger nut! He has these cute little dimples that I just want to poke with my finger, is that weird? He also makes me feel good about myself when I’m feeling at my worst. Majority of the time I’ll be a typical woman and complain how “fat” and “ugly” I am and he just turns it right around like a good boyfriend should and tells me all the good points about myself, which is really nice.

A lot of shit has happened during 2013, but me and my boyfriend getting together is by far the best thing that has happened to me this year and I haven’t felt so happy in someone’s company for a very long time.

Once again I want to thank my boyfriend for taking these pictures of me today, as well as taking the time to edit them all for me too. I wouldn’t be able to make this and my last what I wore post(s) possible if it wasn’t for him.

Stay tuned in the future for my first video on my blog, which will be the boyfriend tag!

If you have any questions or comments on how I styled my outfit, please feel free to leave them in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care and I hope everyone had as lovely a weekend as I did.

Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm (in both Classic and Strawberry) review

This is probably a pointless review, due to the fact everyone and their mother loves Carmex. Like Vaseline and Nivea, they’re one of the most popular lip balms out there.

I’ve known people time and time again to use them and I was one of these who said, “Nope I won’t give into the yellow and red packaging.” plus I enjoyed using my Palmer’s lip balm too much.

However the past year I’ve branched out a little and tried new lip balms, but with my Classic Carmex lip balm I didn’t buy this one. I got it free in my goodie bag from when I attended VintSetFest back in July (you can check out the posts about it here and here).

In this review I’ll be talking about both the Classic lip balm as well as the Strawberry flavoured one.

DSC_0008

I was given my Classic Carmex at the VintSetFest event, whilst I bought my Strawberry flavoured Carmex from Primark for £2.00. They have three flavours of these, Strawberry, Mint and Cherry. I tried to find a mint one to pick up too but I didn’t have too much luck finding one as the queue was moving along rather quickly, which makes a change for Primark!

When applying this to the lips it reminded me of Vaseline, due to the fact it’s made of petroleum. It feels almost like a lip gloss on the lips and looks like it too, but without that horrible sticky residue. As well as looking like this on the lips they create a tingly sensation on the lips, pretty much the sort of feeling you would get with a plumping lip gloss and this because these also contain menthol, which I liked.

The Classic smells slightly minty due to the menthol which I like, whilst of course the Strawberry smells of strawberries, a must for anyone who loves strawberries. I hate most strawberry flavoured things that are edible, but I love this! The smell really does remind me of a Strawberry Split ice cream/ice lolly, which I lived off as a kid during hot summer days.

DSC_0010

Strawberry Carmex on the left, Classic Carmex on the right.

The texture of the Classic Carmex is a lot thicker than the Strawberry Carmex, which I find odd. I don’t know if this is because of the different flavours or due to where I bought my Strawberry one from. I found that the Strawberry Carmex was awkward to use on a hot day as it went really watery and it went everywhere! However the Classic Carmex stayed thick, which I was glad about.

I really like how thick the Classic Carmex is, it just feels like I can have more control when applying it onto my lips and I hope when I purchase this in future that tube will be the same.

I love these lip balms, but if I had to choose between the Classic and the Strawberry, I would hands down pick the Classic.

Whilst the Strawberry one smells delicious and reminds me of my childhood, the strawberry flavour doesn’t last that long (all of 2 minutes…) and the texture isn’t as thick as the Classic Carmex.

I would definitely like to try the Mint Carmex, so when my Strawberry one has run out, I’ll be picking that one up.

I’m keeping my Classic at home to use around the house, but my Strawberry one is going to be kept in my handbag for while I’m out and about. I’ve used it quite a lot at work and when I’m at my boyfriends so it was definitely worth the £2.00 I paid for it!

DSC_0011

Please excuse my silly duck face, I thought it would be fun to do. 🙂

As you can see, it looks quite a lot like a lip gloss, which is nice. This can also be used underneath lipsticks, which is what I’ve been doing quite a bit lately. I can see this coming in handy during the colder months, as I’ll be wearing my lipstick and darker shades a hell of a lot more so this will make a great base for those.

I’m so glad that VintSetFest gave me the Classic Carmex lip balm as a freebie as otherwise I wouldn’t have discovered this product so soon and realised that now I can’t live without it in my pocket!

Do you like Carmex? If so which product of theirs is your favourite?

If you don’t like Carmex, how come you don’t? If you have yet to try it, would you try the Classic first or a flavoured version?

Let me know your answers in the comments down below and of course if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their week and you’re all having a great weekend!

Until next time, take care.
