Everything You Need To Know About Bee and PuppyCat Before It Comes To Netflix

I have been so stocked for writing this post on my blog for as long as I can remember… In fact I took a look at my board where I keep all my blog ideas and the idea for this one was set at the start of 2022 on 2nd January. I’ve been waiting and biding my time for Netflix to finally give us a set release date, which they did over a week ago.

With this in mind, I can finally write about Bee and PuppyCat and why you should watch it when it comes to Netflix in a couple of weeks. I’m going to go into some information of when it started, how, the plot, why I love it and more.

I honestly hope you enjoy todays blog post, I seriously love Bee and PuppyCat after discovering it in 2013, it helped me when I was in a really dark place and still helps me to this day when I feel anxious, or low. It’s a happy show and one I recommend to everyone, hence this post today! I’m going to try and hold off sharing any spoilers, I know some websites have, I don’t want to do this. Although Bee and PuppyCat is kind of a known show to a lot of people, it isn’t to others. Spoilers suck, so we won’t be doing those here if I can help it.

So, grab yourself a drink and maybe some snacks as I get into today’s post. 🙂

First things first, what is Bee and PuppyCat all about and who created it?

The creator of Bee and PuppyCat is Natasha Allegri, who also worked on Adventure Time for five seasons! During her time working on Adventure Time, Natasha created Fionna and Cake, the gender-swapped versions of Finn and Jake. Eventually the female duo had their own full episodes of Adventure Time, as well as comics.

The show is about Bee, a young woman who we discover has just been fired from her job. Stuck in the rain, waiting for the lights to allow her to cross, and obviously the shock of losing her job, could it get any worse? Maybe, maybe not? In a very random encounter she meets PuppyCat and takes him home with her. The next day Bee admits to PuppyCat that she’s lost her job, can’t get a new one and has no money, to which he helps Bee through temporary jobs assigned by TempBot. Through their first job together we learn more about them both, but in mysterious ways. The show itself is about following the adorable duo as they go do temporary jobs, get through any obstacles they face in life, meet Bee’s friends and learn even more about the pair as we go.

Now we know the basic plot of the show, I’m going to give you a bit of history behind the show itself!

Bee and PuppyCat launched in August 2013 through a pilot on YouTube, which is pretty much the synopsis I posted earlier, it’s where it all started and damn did it pack a punch! It threw us straight into Bee’s life at a pretty bad time, which is usually the perfect way of shaping a story. Introduce us to the character, throw a situation their way, they spend most of the show/film fixing it, with a conclusion at the end. The pilot didn’t just do that, but they reveal a deep mystery about PuppyCat, and leave us wondering what will happen to Bee too. It was the perfect pilot and after watching it myself and many others wanted more!

A couple of months later in October a Kickstarter campaign was launched with the goal of a tv series coming from it! The original goal of $600,000 was exceeded and to date they are still the 10th most funded video and film project. I wasn’t aware of the Kickstarter until it was too late, otherwise I would have backed it.

Of course, due to how successful the Kickstarter was, the tv series was funded and the first season was released between November 2014 to November 2016. There were ten episodes for the first season with each episode lasting just over six minutes each. Season one follows on from the pilot where we start to learn more about Bee and PuppyCat, as well as Bee’s friends, and what adventures they go on. We learn more about Bee with her likes and dislikes, as well as her mystery.

The first season of Bee and PuppyCat got me through some dark times, as well as some anxious ones. For example, I hate flying so when we flew to and from Japan I was a nervous wreck. On the way there and back I watched Bee and PuppyCat which helped me to relax significantly. The show is definitely some sort of comfort for me and I always watch it when I need it. I wish it would come out on DVD/Blu-ray so I can have a copy all the time to watch, instead of relying on YouTube.

In early 2016 whilst out shopping I discovered that Bee and PuppyCat had a comic book series, which in turn was released in omnibus series, so I decided to pick it up! There are three omnibus volumes altogether and I own them all. The original comic book series ran between May 2014 until April 2016. The stories we see in the tv show compared to the comics is different, with none of the artwork done by Natasha Allegri. I’d love to eventually pick up all the individual comics, but this may not happen for a while… I highly recommend them if you’d like to read some more stories from the adorable duo!

After what felt like forever, in 2018 a trailer came out for season two of Bee and Puppycat, which is called Lazy in Space. We don’t get a lot of detail about Lazy in Space apart from the fact that PuppyCat died and is now alive again. This left me with too many questions, and I’m sure I’m not the only one! PuppyCat died? How and why did this happen? The first episode was showcased in September 2019 at the Ottawa International Animation Festival, but we weren’t given anymore episodes until early 2020 when it leaked online. Although these episodes were removed, many fans downloaded them and reuploaded online. I’ve seen bits and pieces of Lazy in Space and really love how we find out even more about Bee than ever before, as well as finding out some of PuppyCat’s mystery…

Later in 2020 after struggling to find a streaming service to air Bee and PuppyCat on, finally we were given the news that Bee and PuppyCat would come to Netflix in 2022!

Finally a couple of weeks ago Netflix released trailer for Bee & PuppyCat, which will come to Netflix on 6th September 2022! I for one am stupidly excited for it and keep watching the trailer every other day to take in as much as possible before the show starts.

Originally it was stated that season two Lazy in Space would be on Netflix, but judging by the trailer and some clips shown so far, it looks like the pilot and season one will be shown too, so whether we get a quick glimpse of these before jumping into season two is unknown at this point.

I think one of the biggest things I’m excited for with Bee and PuppyCat coming to Netflix is how it will now reach more people, which means I’ll have more people to talk to about it too! It’s a show I hardly speak of with anyone as whenever I ask, “Have you see Bee and PuppyCat?” I get a confused look and asked what it is. So yeah, discussing with people would be amazing!

I’m excited too to see how they recreate the pilot and season one, as the artwork is different, as well as the dialogue too.

Finally, I’m hopeful we get some more official merchandise again! We haven’t had any for years now and I regret not picking any of it up whilst I had the chance. It sells for a lot of money now and that in itself makes me sad. 😦

So, what do you guys think about Bee and PuppyCat? Do you like the look of it if you’ve never heard of it or seen it before? Have you been a fan of the show prior to it coming to Netflix? If so, what are you excited for the most?

I really hope you all enjoyed this weeks post, I’ve been excited to write it for months now so I hope it opens up new people to the amazing show that is Bee and PuppyCat!

Until next time, have an amazing weekend guys and see you soon. 🙂

Lunaticgumis Bee and PuppyCat Fan Merch – Review

Today I want to talk about an independent artist I adore and have been meaning to talk about on my blog for almost a year now! Better late than never I always say. As I recently made a second order with Lunaticgumis and wanted to share with you my collective haul from this year and last, and as the title of this post suggests, they’re all Bee and PuppyCat related. 😛

First of all I think most people know by now, I’m a massive Bee and PuppyCat fan! Due to that, I’m always after new merchandise, official or fan made, usually the latter. I discovered Lunaticgumis through Etsy whilst I was searching for PuppyCat items to add to my wish list or purchase.

I ended up adding all the PuppyCat items she had for sale to my wish list and eventually around the end of 2020 I made an order and picked up as many PuppyCat items as I could, including stickers, an enamel pin and an amigurumi.

Before I show you guys the items I’ve bought, I want to tell you a little bit about Lunaticgumis!

Lunaticgumis is run by Joana, a fan art artists illustrator and amigurumi creator based in Gran Canaria. Joana started creating amigurumi back in 2011 as she was inspired by Adventure Time. Since then, Joana hasn’t been able to stop creating amigurumi dolls inspired by her favourite shows!

Now I’ve told you a little bit about Lunaticgumis, lets get down to showing you the awesome goodies I’ve picked up!

At the time of writing this I will be adding links back to items mentioned on this post, however some aren’t currently available and I’ll try and add the links as and when I can.

As I mentioned previously the first time I made an order with Lunaticgumis was in November 2020. I ordered a bit of everything and I had a lovely thank you note inside my parcel from Joana, which I’ve kept. 🙂

  • PuppyCat Amigurumi (without keychain) – (link TBA)

The PuppyCat amigurumi is what attracted me to Lunaticgumis! Amigurumi is something I discovered during COVID in 2020 when I was stuck at home and spent most of my evenings looking at cute goodies on Etsy. Eventually I decided to order my own PuppyCat amigurumi from Lunaticgumis and decided to get my PuppyCat without a keychain, as I knew he was going to live in my plushie cabinet. This amigurumi is tiny, but so precious and detailed with it! PuppyCat has his signature pink collar with yellow bell attached, as well as his grumpy brown eyebrows! It’s so adorable and I fell in love with it when he arrived.

  • PuppyCat “I’m Not Cute!!” Sticker – (link)

If there is one thing I love about Lunaticgumis it’s Joana’s unique style when she draws PuppyCat, which is by fair my favourite out there! This design reminds me of a tattoo with the flowers surrounding PuppyCat, as well as the placard that states, “I’M NOT CUTE!!” which is something PuppyCat states in season one of the show. I especially love how grumpy PuppyCat looks, but has his cute little pink blushing cheeks.

  • PuppyCat “2 Cute 2 Poot” Sticker – (link TBA)

Another PuppyCat sticker, this one comes from S01 E01 of Bee and PuppyCat where PuppyCat is forced to wear a helmet to go to the shops, which states, “2 Cute 2 Poot” which he hates. 😛 Again like the previous sticker, this is adorable! We still have some flowers surrounding PuppyCat, as well as his grumpy face but this time we can see his pink collar and yellow bell. Of course, he still has his pink blushing cheeks. 😛

  • PuppyCat “I’m Not Cute!!” Acrylic Pin Badge – (link)

Like the “I’m Not Cute!!” sticker, the acrylic pin badge is exactly the same design but in pin form. This isn’t an enamel pin, but plastic acyclic which is a change for me! I want to get a collection of Bee and PuppyCat pins going, so I just HAD to have this acrylic pin badge!

  • Freebie Stickers!!! – (not for sale)

In my parcel I received LOADS of free stickers, four in total including a mini version of the “I’m Not Cute!!” sticker and acrylic pin badge! Alongside that one, I also received “I’m not cuteeeee!”, “Hey Peon, bow to me!” and one of PuppyCat dressed as a reindeer inside of a Christmas wreath.

I loved my parcel so much that I received in November 2020, all the goodies really did make me smile and it really urged me to search and buy more Bee and PuppyCat items!

I decided at the end of August when I was paid that I would treat myself to some Bee and PuppyCat goodies from Lunaticgumis. Joana had mentioned over on Instagram that when some PuppyCat items were sold out, they wouldn’t make a return… So… I had to get my order in. 😛

Alongside the goodies I ordered from Etsy, I’d been in talks with Joana since November 2020 about getting a bigger PuppyCat made for me! Joana reached out at the end of August in regards to a bigger PuppyCat she’d made for me and showed me some photos. I was so happy and ecstatic about what Joana had made for me and sent her some monies via PayPal for it! This is for sale on her store, but only two per month will be available, so if you like the look of this amigurumi… Keep your eyes peeled on Lunaticgumis Etsy and Instagram.

Apart from my amigurumi, all the goodies (and freebies!) I ordered were wrapped in paper, which is unique to Lunaticgumis. I’ll definitely be keeping it as it’s got some adorable designs all over, including PuppyCat of course. 😛

  • PuppyCat Amigurumi Velvet Yarn Version – (link TBA)

This is by far one of my favourite things I own. My velvet yarn PuppyCat amigurumi is so precious and I wish he was bigger so I could squish him lots and lots! This PuppyCat amigurumi is the same as the smaller version with just a few differences. PuppyCat is made out of velvet yarn, which makes him really plush and soft to the touch and he also has a jingling bell on his collar, which is such an amazing touch! I remember Joana messaging me about the bell and asking if I liked it or not, of course I loved it! 😛 This amigurumi is perfect, honestly and it makes me so bloody happy. :’) If you would love a PuppyCat like this yourselves, then make sure to keep them eyes peeled, as mentioned above!

  • PuppyCat Dressed As Bee Sticker – (link)

This sticker is amazing in every way shape and form! For a start the size of the sticker is perfect and that for me is always good. I just love the idea of PuppyCat dressed as Bee, it looks so cute. Like the other stickers previously of PuppyCat, he’s surrounded by flowers. Of course he’s dressed/cosplaying as Bee, with the hair, yellow bee jumper and pink skirt. Such an adorable design, that I don’t personally feel anyone else has done yet.

  • Bee and PuppyCat Wallace The Fish Sticker – (link)

Wallace is a character from the pilot episode of Bee and PuppyCat that you don’t see merchandise of too often. I think he’s adorable, even for the few minutes that we see him. I’d love to see more of him in season three when it comes to Netflix! Anyway, we can see Wallace crying, whilst PuppyCat comforts him. Wallace is always sad when his mama goes away, so waits for a story to be told by PuppyCat. I’m going to pop a YouTube video of this scene above because I feel like everyone needs to see it!

  • PuppyCat Dressed As Bee Acrylic Pin Badge – (link)

Like the sticker, the acrylic pin badge is exactly the same design but in pin form. This isn’t an enamel pin, but plastic acyclic which is a change for me! I want to get a collection of Bee and PuppyCat pins going, so I just HAD to have this acrylic pin badge! This was the reason behind me making the jump and placing my order. I really wanted to snag the pin badge too!

  • PuppyCat “2 Cute 2 Poot” Acrylic Pin Badge – (link)

Like the “2 Cute 2 Poot” sticker, the acrylic pin badge is exactly the same design but in pin form. This isn’t an enamel pin, but plastic acyclic which is a change for me! I want to get a collection of Bee and PuppyCat pins going, so I just HAD to have this acrylic pin badge!

  • PuppyCat “I’m Not Cuteeeee!” Button Badge Pin – (link)

This was a freebie that I’d contemplated purchasing in the past! button badges aren’t really something I buy and use anymore. I had a massive thing for them back when I lived at home and was a student, but since enamel pins have come around they’ve sort of taken over. This button badge is really cute and I love how PuppyCat is shouting, “I’m not cuteeeee!” as it’s something he hates being called! I also love the little bee, as well as the rainbow background. The packet it came in has a little mini print of the same design.

  • More Freebie Stickers!!! – (not for sale)

Again, like on my first order Joana threw in some freebie stickers for my second order. This was also one of the reasons why I wanted to place an order. Joana mentioned over on Instagram how she would be throwing in some freebie stickers in orders that wouldn’t be for sale later on the store. The designs are both adorable with PuppyCat rein acting scenes from season one. One is where PuppyCat has his yellow booties on to walk in the rain and the other is from the beach where PuppyCat is being terrorised by the cleavage crab.

Overall I absolutely adore all my Bee and PuppyCat goodies from Lunaticgumis and will definitely buy more from her in the future as and when Joana brings out new designs.

If you love Adventure Time, Bravest Warrior, Animal Crossing, etc then Lunaticgumis is a store you need to venture to! I’m going to pop links below as always.

Life Lately – Past, Present and Future

I really love this photo! Shall I add it to my “about me” section? P.S. I love Instagram filters! 😛

For my post this week I thought I would do a life lately post and have a catch up about stuff that’s been happening since my last life lately in July (which you can read here). So, go and grab yourself a hot drink because this post is going to be lonnnnng!

I’m going to get this out there straight away and say that since September life has been a bit shit… But thankfully it hasn’t affected me too badly…

September is my favourite month of the year as many know, but this year it was one of the worst. My aunt unexpectedly passed away and I’m still torn about it. October was her funeral and as I’ve been so busy with work throughout October and this month I’ve not really had time to think about it all… Which isn’t a bad thing but I’ve just been so busy.

Due to everything happening one after the other, I am mentally drained. I had a day off work yesterday and it was much needed. I spent the morning doing nothing and catching up on Twitch streams, cleaned my bathroom in the afternoon and ordered a takeaway in the evening. It was a very good day and I loved it so much.

I was bloody knackered this day… Busy work day!

Anyhoo, I don’t want to talk about how shit the past three months has been too much here, but I did want to be honest. I just want to continue to be there for my mom and try and look forward to Christmas as it’ll definitely be a hard year for me, but especially for my mom. I want to try and spoil her as much as possible, especially when her birthday comes around after mine in January too.

Alongside that we’ve also had a second lockdown in the UK, which is set to finish in less than two weeks. To be honest the second lockdown hasn’t affected me. I’m still working from home so I’ve been fine workwise and as miserable as it sounds, second lockdown has been an excuse for me to stay at home and not have to worry about having energy after a busy day to socialise.

COVID and lockdowns has fucked with my head however. I’m happy to stay at home and not hang out with people and be social. I like staying in my house and when both me and Dane have a week off work in December, we intend to do that for pretty much all of it. We’re going to be working on the house and doing things we’ve meant to do the past four years of owning our home.

COVID and lockdown may have fucked with my head, but it has made me realise how much I love my home, but also how much work we still need to do. We’ve neglected it because of being social bunnies since 2016 and I’m done with it. I have certain friends I really fucking miss and can’t wait to see when things go back to “normal” but that’s about it.

I don’t give a fuck if I’m miserable. 😛 Has anyone else had the same happen to them that has happened to me? Aka turning into a hermit. 😛

One of the many pretty baths I’ve taken lately. This one was so damn pretty due to the purple and blue swirling into one another.

I’m getting into the festive spirit a little now in the run up to December. I’m halfway through my Christmas shopping and I’ve already pre-ordered my Christmas food ready for the big day. I won’t be putting my tree up until the 1st December, I can’t stand putting it up early as I find it takes the magic of Christmas away. It comes down just before New Years Eve so we don’t have to worry about putting it down and away before we return to work for a New Year. A lot of people think this is miserable… I think due to being in a home that didn’t really put a tree up this is just something that has passed onto me somewhat.

Speaking of Christmas and the New Year I have so many exciting things I want to talk and share in regards to my blog! 😀

I decided almost a month ago that I would do a MASSIVE post at the start of December about shopping small in the UK. I’ve never done this before in the sense of all stores to be mentioned will be small so I’m REALLY excited for it! With 2020 and lockdown due to COVID, I feel I have shopped smaller more than ever and I love being able to share them with others on my Instagram (theremightbecoffeeblog) so I want to do the same here on my blog too.

I asked you on Twitter what you wanted to see, UK, USA, Europe or everywhere. You mostly voted for me to focus on shopping small in the UK, so that’s what I’ll be doing. I’ll have categories such as beauty, home, kawaii/geek, enamel pins, etc. Are there any categories you would like to see in particular that I haven’t mentioned?

I’ll be looking to research for this MASSIVE post very soon (maybe even after this post is live!) so I can get it out for (drumroll?) 5th December, which is in a couple of weeks! If you also know of any UK stores I should mention, please let me know!

I quickly want to interrupt what I’m talking about to show you these AMAZING Black Milk Clothing x Pokemon leggings I found for a total bargain on Depop! Someone sold them brand new with tags for £40. I snapped them up and I have zero regrets. I’m going to wear these religiously during my week off work. 😛

Alongside that blog post idea for Christmas, I have also decided in 2021 to make a slight change to my blog… and when I say change I mean my monthly posts in particular. I have toyed with this thought the past few months and after reaching out to you guys again on Twitter you all had the same thought as me.

With my monthly favourites posts I am going to move away from mentioning my five favourite beauty items and just mention one or two. I’m planning to share TV shows, movies, music and games I have loved that month, but I’ll only talk about books if I’ve actually read any. I love reading manga, but I’ve not ready any for a while. I’m going to change that in 2021 but I don’t see the point in having books on my monthly favourites if I’m not reading any each month… It’s just pointless.

I’ll be adding some new categories such as – favourite piece of clothing, favourite candle/scent and anything else that comes to mind to be honest with you! It will be random each month me thinks depending on how that month has been like etc.

I didn’t know whether to lump  my monthly favourites and my wish list together so I have more room for content each month but I don’t know… I worry a post will be far too long then, so I am swaying towards keeping them separated. What do you guys think? I do love my monthly wish list posts! 😀

Please take another amazing bath photo! If there is a brand I have fallen in love with this year it’s Bake Bath Love. They’ll be getting a mention in my Christmas Shop Small UK post.

In 2020 I haven’t work with as many people as I usually do with gifted posts, but at the same time we obviously know why this is the case! However, I am hoping in 2021 to work with more people, but we shall see! I’m not fussed if I don’t of course. 🙂

One more thing I want to share with you today is something that I ordered at the start of November as a payday treat for myself. As many know, I love Bee & Puppycat and have done since I discovered it back in 2013 but 2020 has been the year I’m finally buying some merchandise (fan made mostly) from the show.

I finally decided to treat myself to an amigurumi (Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures) of Puppycat, as well as some stickers. He’s by Lunaticgumis and I love him so much! He arrived today and he’s been very much loved already. He’s now on my plushie shelf next to the Puppycat polymer clay keyring that I commissioned from MelonDesignsByEllen. However, I think I will be doing a massive talk about these on a separate post in December. 🙂

That’s basically everything I wanted to catch up with here though… I have some exciting posts coming up in December, which may even end up going through to January too including:

Black Milk Clothing x Animal Crossing – I am beyond excited for all this stuff to arrive… I say all, it’s just three items. It’ll be similar to the one I wrote about the Pokemon goodies, which you can read here for the time being.

Pikarar – This is going to be a huge haul and one I need to share with you all! It’ll include Pokemon and shiba inu clothing! 😀

I’m sure there will be more but those two stand out for me at the moment so I wanted to get them mentioned here. 🙂

Told you I loved them Instagram filters… 😉

I’m not going to ramble anymore guys! What do you think of the small adjustments I’m thinking of doing to my blog in 2021? Make sure to let me know what you think in the comments.

Is there anything else you would like to see more or less of on here? I’d like to hear what you think. In 2021 I want to mostly continue what I’ve done this year, aka one post a week and write about what the hell I want to! 😀

Aside from letting me know what you think, how have you all been doing? How are you dealing with COVID? Are you loving lockdown hating lockdown? Let me know everything. 🙂

Until next time though guys, stay safe, take care and I’ll see you soon!
