2015 Movies I Can’t Wait To See!

This is a really spontaneous post but after having a nose on what is coming soon on my local cinemas website, I felt the urge to make this post… As well as a list for myself of what films are coming out that I want to see, and when.

I have five on this list, one that I have already watched online but am desperate to watch in the cinema. I’m not going to hang about when writing this post, I’m just going to dive straight in. I’ll post pictures of the posters for each film, as well as a trailer for it.

Inside Out – Release date for UK – 24th July 2015 Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

This is probably the highest film I wish to see on this list… But that being said, I’ve already seen it. Yes I did the naughty thing and watched this online as soon as I found a half decent copy. Although I have seen it mind, I want to watch it again, properly. It’s officially been out a couple of days in the UK and at the time of writing this I’ll either have been to see it the day it came out, or I’ll be off to see it next week at some point. I love Pixar, so this is a must have to watch in the cinema for me. As I write this post I’m currently watching it online and it’s just such an amazing film. I hope I could write a full review for it in the future, but she shall see! It’s just a typical Pixar film that makes you think, and will make you cry too.

Max – Release date for UK – 7th August 2015A precision-trained military dog, Max serves on the frontlines in Afghanistan alongside his handler, U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott. But when things go terribly wrong on manoeuvres, Kyle is mortally wounded and Max, traumatised by the loss of his best friend, is unable to remain in service. Shipped stateside, the only human he seems willing to connect with is Kyle’s teenage brother, Justin, so Max is adopted by Kyle’s family, essentially saving his life. But Justin has issues of his own, such as living up to his father’s expectations for him; he isn’t interested in taking responsibility for his brother’s troubled dog. However, Max may be Justin’s only chance to discover what really happened to his brother that day on the front, and with the help of a tough-talking young teen, Carmen, who has a way with dogs, Justin begins to appreciate his canine companion. Justin’s growing trust in Max helps the four-legged veteran revert back to his heroic self, and as the pair race against time to unravel the mystery, they find more excitement – and danger – than they bargained for. But they each might also find an unlikely new best friend…in each other.

This is one I have been looking at on and off the past few weeks. It’s not something I am super excited about, but it does look like a good cheesy movie to have a cry at. I thought my boyfriend would love the look of this due to the dog being a breed he wants, but alas he isn’t that fussed either. However if we want to go watch a film and can’t think of anything we wish to watch, I could imagine us going to see this. It just reminds me of Marley & Me, which ironically shares the same producer as Max does. I don’t know if this is based off of a book, but it just looks like a good tearjerker.

The Diary of a Teenager Girl – Release date for UK – 7th August 2015 A teenage girl begins a complex love affair with her mother’s boyfriend in this whimsical American indie drama. Minnie (Bel Powley) is a 15-year-old living with her mother in 1970’s San Francisco. With her sexuality blossoming, the teenage artist begins an affair with her mother’s boyfriend, Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard). Minnie’s mother, Charlotte (Kristen Wiig), meanwhile, is an ageing hippy, gleefully indulging in a hedonistic lifestyle with her wayward daughter. But despite all of Minnie’s misadventures, it’s the middle-aged Monroe she keeps coming back to… Adapted from an acclaimed graphic novel, this innovative indie drama bubbles with visual ingenuity and quirky characterisation. First time writer/director Marielle Heller’s movie about the hedonistic attitudes of the 1970s party scene has been wowing audiences in the States, with Indiewire calling the film “genuine, poignant and hilarious”.

Oh my, this definitely my sort of film! I love drama style films aimed towards young adults as these sorts of films are always ones I loved watching when I was younger and make me feel really nostalgic. This one is about a young girl who starts to think about sex and soon finds herself falling for her mother’s boyfriend, only to have sex with him (I think…) and she documents her experience with sex and how it makes her feel. It just looks like a great coming of age story and right up my street!

Absolutely Anything – Release date for UK 14th August 2015Absolutely Anything follows a disillusioned school teacher, Neil Clarke (Pegg) who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challende bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens (voiced by Cleese, Gillam, Jones, Palin and Idle), watching him from space. As he struggles to deal with these new found powers and the events that subsequently arise, he calls upon his loyal canine companion Dennis (voiced by Robin Williams) to help him along the way. Mishap after mishap finally leadds him to the ultimate conundrum that all men dread and at which many have failed…should he choose the girl…or the dog…?

I totally forgot about this film until I found it on the coming soon page! This is a film I have been excited for since just after Robin Williams died. Not only does it star him (I think it’s his last film role…) voicing a dog, but it also stars Simon Pegg, who is one of my favourite actors. It’s one I know me and my boyfriend will go and watch as since the first trailer came out we loved the idea behind it, and especially Robin Williams’s amazing voice acting for the dog. I cannot wait for this to come out!

Paper Towns – Release date for UK – 21st August 2015Adapted from the bestselling novel by author John Green (“The Fault in Our Stars”), PAPER TOWNS is a coming-of-age story centring on Quentin and his enigmatic neighbour Margo, who loved mysteries so much she became one. After taking him on an all-night adventure through their hometown, Margo suddenly disappears–leaving behind cryptic clues for Quentin to decipher. The search leads Quentin and his quick-witted friends on an exhilarating adventure that is equal parts hilarious and moving. Ultimately, to track down Margo, Quentin must find a deeper understanding of true friendship–and true love

This is a film I have been excited for since it was announced. I love John Green and after how well The Fault in Our Stars did in the cinema, I can only imagine this one will be as just a good a success! I haven’t read the book yet, but I hope to get it read in time to go and watch the film. If not then I won’t be so bothered to be honest and I can just read it when I’ve watched the movie. I won’t lie though, I’m not as hyped up for this movie as much as I was for The Fault in Our Stars… I don’t know if that’s because EVERYONE hyped up that movie. But to be honest, I’m super excited about Looking for Alaska being turned into a movie as that’s probably my favourite John Green book. I would like to go and watch this film with someone I know has read the book besides myself, but I can’t see this happening, sad to say.

Snoopy And Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie – Release date for UK – 25th December 2015Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state-of-the-art 3D animation. Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle and flying ace embarks upon his greatest mission as he takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis The Red Baron, while his best pal, Charlie Brown, begins his own epic quest. From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.

I remember my boyfriend sending me a 30 second trailer for this film months and months ago, probably around Christmas last year and I was so excited! Every time we have been to our local cinema and seen adverts and posters for it, we’ve realised it’s out soon and get even more excited about seeing it. However only prior to writing this post did I actually look up a trailer or two for it. At first I was a tad meh about the trailer and film in general, not feeling it too much, but when I watched the trailer that I’ve here and I’ve safely fallen in love. Peanuts was a huge part of my childhood and Snoopy is a big love of mine, so this movie is definitely something I need to watch when it comes out. I’m unsure about the release date, considering that’s Christmas Day… But I can work with that if that is the case!

So those are the movies I am excited about for the rest of 2015! There will probably be some more that pop up but I’m just going by what I found on my local cinema website as I stated earlier on in this post. These are just the main ones I’m looking forward to this year.

So, what movies are you wanting to watch in 2015? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’ve had a great weekend.

Disaster Designs Paper Plane Satchel & Bonus What’s In My Bag

Recently I bought myself a new bag and after a few weeks of using it, I’m finally getting around to showing it off on my blog!

It’s my gorgeous new Disaster Designs bag! It’s the Paper Plane design and it’s been about for ages, since my second or third year of university and that was back in 2009-2011! One of my favourite shops in Birmingham used to sell the whole Paper Plane’s range but as a skint student I just lusted over the expensive bags, never buying one for myself. At the time it was out in the shop in question it cost either £40 or £50, a lot of money for a bag and I couldn’t justify paying that much. To make matters worse a girl in one of my classes at university had this bag and I envied her every class we had together!

As regular readers will have seen, I mentioned this bag in my February Wish List earlier this month and how much I was in need of a new one and when I remembered back to this satchel that I had wanted all those years ago, I went straight to eBay to try and find a good bargain.

There were a couple of these on there but they were either new but too expensive or used and in terrible condition for nearly just as much as the new ones on there. Eventually I stumbled across this bag, brand new and bloody hell did I have to do some bidding to get it! Eventually I won the bid and snapped this beauty up for £30.00, with £4.00 for P&P.

Since test driving this bag over the past 2 weeks, I knew I had to do a post about it, and as well as writing about my new bag, I thought I’d show you what I keep in there too. Think of it as a bonus!

But first of all, about the bag!

This is definitely a different satchel than ones you would normally buy, and that’s what I like about it! I love the Paper Plane theme and it looks so pretty and cute. You can buy all sorts of bags from the Paper Plane collection but this one just grabs my eye that little more than the others, probably because of its letter and plane theme. It just seems frightfully romantic and really does bring out the writer in me.

Not only does the bag look gorgeous with the style of it and design, but the cute little features on it too really do stand out and make it rather unique to anything else you would find out there. The front of the bag has little features such as a bird, which looks to be a swallow, as well as a red and white bow on one of the buckles, a hanging postage stamp shaped piece that says, “travel in style” with a swallow in the middle, and in between the two buckles on the flap of the bag it reads, “Return to sender” which I love the most about this bag.

Even on the back of the bag there is some detail, but only one! In the middle of the back of the bag there is a little white square with a red envelope inside, underneath it says “S.W.A.L.K” and quite frankly I don’t have a clue what it stands for! So, I went to Google and I found out exactly what it means (I found out the meaning on Wikipedia):

S.W.A.L.K. is an acronym usually seen on a love letter of a courting couple. It stands for “sealed with a loving kiss” and is one of several acronyms that seemingly originated during the Second World War. A variant is S.W.A.K., sealed with a kiss.

If I didn’t love my bag before knowing this, then I must be IN love with it now! It’s such a gorgeous think to put on the bag and makes the bag seem even more beautiful than I already thought it was.

I love this bag so much and whilst some websites do still sell it, your best bet might just be to pop onto eBay like I did. I typed in “Disaster Designs paper plane satchel” and you should at least find one bag if not a couple.

So, what’s IN my bag?

DSC_0013

Yes it’s time for the bonus part of this post where I show what I’m keeping in my new bag. I took these pictures after a close shift at work, so this is what was in there when I got home. I didn’t add or remove anything either, so I’m not cheating. 🙂

DSC_0014

I always make sure to throw a book in my bag if I’m going to work or if I’m meeting a friend as I like something to read before I head into work or if I turn up somewhere early or a friends running late. I’ve recently started reading Simon Pegg’s autobiography called Nerd Do Well. I’m only on chapter 2 and I love it already! It’s such an amazing book and so far with the way he’s planned it out it’s great. I can see me writing a huge post about it once I’ve finished reading it.

Of course I must have my iPhone 5 in here. I actually slipped it into the case I use at home, which is my rubber Game Boy case, but when I’m out and about I use my hand red case as if I were to drop it with my Game Boy case on, it could smash… Which isn’t good!

Another necessity for anyone, whether you have a bag or not are house keys and some money. I love my house keys, they’re multicoloured tartan but it’s my key rings that I like the most. Three of them are Lego related, one being R2D2 from Star Wars (this is my second one of him, as my first was 10 years old and the print faded), whilst my other two are of Frodo Baggins and Bilbo Baggins from Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit. Finally I have a glass seahorse that was a recent purchase when my friend Poppy and I visited The Sea Life Center in Birmingham. She bought the same one, so now we have matching key rings, which is somewhat cute.

I love my wallet so much, as I love foxes, but also because it reminds me of my Gran. For my 22nd birthday in 2012 she gave me some birthday money, which I used to buy this wallet and as regular or old readers will know, she passed away nearly a year ago. Not only is it a gorgeous wallet, but it holds so much stuff in there too! It’s by Loungefly and whilst it wasn’t cheap, for the two years I’ve had it, it’s doing me well! I thought about buying the matching purse and bag for this but sadly I can’t find them anywhere to pick up!

DSC_0017

As I drive I keep my car key and my car stereo in my bag whenever I’m at home as I drive pretty much everywhere now! I really don’t know how I could travel via the bus, it’s all cars and trains for me now. I love my car and what better way to show it than a couple of cute key rings! I was going to have small key rings on my car key but I knew it would be impossible to find them in my bag and I didn’t want to keep my car key with my house keys… So I opted for a massive plushie key ring for my car key! As well as that when I saw this cute 101 Dalmatian key ring in the Disney Store years ago, I couldn’t leave it behind and bought it to keep on my car key too.

My stereo is pretty standard, I listen to must a lot whilst driving, but I HATE having to make a new CD to listen to every few weeks.

DSC_0018

Just some standard things a woman will keep in her handbag… A mirror for when I top up my lipsticks, hand sanitizer, paracetamol, tissues and some hand cream. Nothing special!

DSC_0019

Finally we have what I keep in the little zip pocket inside my bag… I know I have a lot of lip balms, but I shall explain why! I bought the Carmex one on a whim that I was loving the original and wanted one to keep in my handbag. As you can see this one is in Strawberry and it’s vile! I can’t wait to use it up, but at the same time it does do a good job when applied over lipstick, but it tastes fowl! I think my favourite lip balm every has to be my Apple Chapstick and I think I’m running low on this too. It’s not the best lip balm in the world though, it just tastes and smells delicious! The best one out of the three is my Palmer’s Cocoa Butter. It’s really creamy and out of them all is the only one that I can actually feel working when I apply it, but at times I think my lips are allergic as they tingle and hurt. Either way I keep three in my bag incase I lose one… Good enough reason, right?

As well as those I keep a little hand cream in here which is the same as the large one in the previous photo as well as a lip product. The one I’ve been using a lot this week is this lip gloss by Collection 2000 called Lock N Hold. I might review this soon but I know one thing I will say, it doesn’t last 6 hours at all! I wear this at work and have to top it up every hour, which doesn’t bother me, but when I’m on a shift for less than 6 hours, it’s concerning. Let me know if you want me to review this!

So with an empty bag, I’ve thrown everything back in and got into bed!

I love my new bag so much and it’s going to be featured a lot on future What I’m Wearing posts, which I want to try and get back up on my blog again.

So, what do you think of my new bag? Love it, hate it, or not arsed? 😛 Let me know in the comments!

If you have any questions about the bag, or anything else mentioned in this post, please feel free to ask in the comments too.

I hope you’ve all had a great week so far and here’s to the weekend!

Until next time, take care all.

The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy

On Thursday 18th July my best friend and I went to watch The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy. If you don’t know what that is, it’s pretty much all three films by Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, which are Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End.

The World’s End came out in cinemas on Friday 19th July and my best friend and I were there at 12am to watch one of the many first screenings of it in the UK.

It’s been 10 years since the guys first started filming Shaun of The Dead so it’s been a long wait for fans of the Cornetto Trilogy, my best friend and I included.

The trilogy started at 7.30pm and didn’t finish until nearly 2am, but it was worth being tired and losing the feeling of your legs for!

Some might be wondering where the guys came up with The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, well each film features a Cornetto (YES even The World’s End!) and depending on which film you watch, depends on which flavour you see.

Shaun of The Dead has the red strawberry Cornetto to symbolise blood, Hot Fuzz has the blue original Cornetto  to symbolise the colour the Police use in the UK and finally The World’s End has the green mint Cornetto to symbolise it’s sci-fi plot.

Since being to the showing of all three films, I keep craving a mint Cornetto!

Now it’s fun fact* time! I can’t really give you any facts about The World’s End yet as whilst I don’t know that many right now, it may also spoil the film for anyone who hasn’t watched it yet. So for now just enjoy some about the first two films!

*Facts taken from IMDB.com.

  • The “pyjama zombie” had his voiced dubbed over by Simon Pegg.
  • On the DVD (at least the region-two and region-one versions), there is a feature that plays an edited version of the scene where Pete yells at Shaun and Ed for playing the music too loud (“I’ve got to go to fucking work in four fucking hours!”) that has been dubbed over for television airings, thus replacing all obscenities. “Fuck” is replaced with “funk,” “prick” becomes “prink.” The feature has the fitting title “Funky Pete” and is found in the alternate bits section.
  • Nick Frost (Ed) allegedly kept his genitals shaved throughout the production to create a genuine need to scratch that the character demanded.
  • The word “fuck” is used 77 times in this movie.
  • Shaun tells Liz that he’s going to take her to “the place that does all the fish”. When he opens the phone book you can see that the restaurant is literally called ‘The Place That Does All the Fish’.
  • Shaun and Ed’s friendship is based on Simon Pegg’s and Nick Frost’s when they shared a flat together.
  •  Quentin Tarantino dubbed Shaun of the Dead one of the top 20 films made since 1992.
  • Edgar Wright:  during the Remembering Z-Day montage, there is a long shot of the zombies walking through a park; Edgar is the one in black who falls over himself. He also makes a voice cameo as the host of Fulci’s Italian restaurant.
  • When Shaun and Ed are listening to Electro, Pete tells Ed if he “wants to live like an animal, he can live in a shed”. Later, Shaun keeps Ed in the shed at the end of the film after he becomes a zombie.

  • Throughout the film, Sergeant Angel uses a Vauxhall Astra Diesel and a Subaru Impreza WRX. The Subaru’s markings are “HF” obviously referring to the film title.
  • During the early scene of Nicholas Angel jogging in his first morning in Sanford, all of the NWA members can be seen standing in the same positions they later stand in for the ‘final showdown’.
  • Nicholas Angel’s service number is 777, this is often seen as the mark of God just as 666 is seen as the mark of the devil. The only character to call him by that number is Timothy Dalton, who played Agent 007 in The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill.
  • When in costume Nick Frost and Simon Pegg often were assumed to be police officers. Many strangers asked them for directions and instead of telling the truth they went along with it. They claimed it made them feel powerful.
  • At a Q&A session following a screening of the film in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Edgar Wright revealed that the film featured disguised cameos by two Oscar winners: Cate Blanchett and Peter Jackson. Jackson appears as the Santa Claus who stabs Nick Angel through the hand during the opening montage, and Blanchett appears masked as Angel’s ex-girlfriend who is a Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), which is the Metropolitan Police’s term for an officer who collects and processes forensic evidence at the scene of a crime (roughly analogous to a CSI).
  • While Nicholas is chasing a shoplifter through the supermarket, Danny is reading the tag-lines of the cheap action films in the half-price bin. “Supercop. Meet the cop that can’t be stopped”. When he realizes the chase is on, he throws the DVD back into the bargain bin where we see it land beside a DVD copy of Shaun of The Dead but called “Zombies Party”, the release title of “Shaun of the Dead” in certain countries.
  • The picture of a young Danny is a real picture of Nick Frost as a child.
  • Before filming the lay-by scene, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reportedly had an argument. Pegg claimed Frost was getting cocky and making the ADs get him coffee, whereas Pegg wanted him to get his own. As a result they took four hours to do that scene and they didn’t talk to each other at all except when acting.
  • The Latin phrase “Bonum comunitae comunitatis” chanted by the NWA at the castle means ‘for the good of the community’ or ‘the greater good’, which is a recurring tag line.
  • It’s said that a swan can break a person’s arm with its wing. At the end of the movie, having been made to crash by the swan in the car, you can see Jim Broadbent’s arm in a sling as he’s loaded onto the ambulance.

Another awesome fact to do with the trilogy is that back in 2007 I got the chance to meet Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost at a signing in Birmingham. It was snowing heavily that day and there was no way I would miss it so I got changed, wrapped up warm and got the bus into town. I waited in the snow for a couple of hours near the front of the queue to meet them and it was worth every minute. They were all so lovely and I took some pictures of the guys posing. I remember Simon Pegg saying to me, “Are you not cold? It’s snowing out there!” and Nick asking me if I was alright and that I was a good sport for going in the snow. They signed my copy of Shaun of The Dead too, which I keep safe in my DVD collection. I would love to meet them all again someday!

Well that’s it for this post, make sure to go and see The World’s End if you like the look of it, as it is amazing! If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, I’ll leave a video of it down below for you.

Take care all and hope your week has started off well!
