June Favourites ’19

How are we at the seventh month of the year?! In 6 months time not only will I be 30 but I’ll be getting ready for one of the biggest events of my life – my holiday to Japan.

June has been such a morbid month, what with the weather being so crappy. I was also skint after loads going on at the start of the month what with Games Expo (which you can read about here, as well as see what I picked up!) and Manchester for mine and Dane’s 6th anniversary. However the weather has had a much needed turn around and we’re now graced with gorgeous sunshine… But also sweat in places you didn’t know you could sweat in! 😛

Aside from this, June went by quickly and I actually had a bad mental health patch – which I’m through thankfully. I forgot how bad my mental health could be though to be perfectly honest with you. I’m glad it’s definitely not as bad as it used to be, that’s for sure.

I’m glad it’s July to be honest with you, as I am craving some nicer weather. I want to do my garden up this year ready for all the BBQ’s and evenings in the garden writing with Dane and playing games. I plan to try and get so much stuff done throughout July and August!

Anyhoo, let’s go into the items I was loving throughout June.

  • Original Source Mint & Tea Tree Shower Gel.

This is a shower gel I rediscovered recently when me and Dane went to Manchester for a few days. We bought a little travel sized version of this to use whilst we were away and it was just so refreshing! Not going to lie though, I forgot what this does to your bits… If you know what I mean? 😛 We’ve just bought a MASSIVE 500ml bottle, which was pretty cheap for £2. This shower gel has kind of reemerged back into our lives at the right time considering the hot weather. Yesterday I woke up feeling sticky and unclean. After my shower I felt fresh again and it’s purely because of this shower gel. If you’ve never tried it, I really do recommend it! Due to the menthol in the mint it leaves you feeling tingly and cooled down, perfect for the hot humid weather we have right now.

  • Nails Inc Ocean Ever After Nail Polish.

I really do love painting my nails, but I find I don’t do it as often as I once used to, or should for that matter. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t give much of a toss the older I get, or just because I’m too busy doing other things… Although a mixture of both, it’s definitely more of the latter. I painted my nails quite a few times last month and I found more often than not that I was reaching out for this shade in particular. With summer (well now at least…) in full swing I thought I would reach for a colour that reminds me of holidays abroad and swimming in the pool and ocean. I honestly love this shade and feel like I haven’t given it the love it deserves! I really do like the Nails Inc duo kits and the mermaid one is perfect for summer, whether you’re going on holiday or not.

  • GeekyClean Bard Soap.

As I mentioned recently in my UK Games Expo haul (which you can read here) I stumbled across the brand Geeky Clean, which I have fast fallen in love with! If there is one product on this list this month that I have reached out for the most, it’s definitely this one. It smells JUST LIKE LUSH SNOW FAIRY for a fucking fraction of the price. Like seriously – how the fuck do Lush get away with it! This foams up lovely and doesn’t leave that horrible feeling on your skin after using soap against it. It comes in the tin, so it’s really easy to keep in the bath or shower. I plan to write a review about both the soap and the bath bomb with the Bard scent. Honestly I cannot get enough of this right now, especially considering what an amazing dupe it is of Snow Fairy (and the Godmother soap if you’re a Lushie).

  • Revolution Onyx Primer.

Okay I was in dubious about this primer. I wasn’t able to test it when I bought it and as I was out with my mom at the time she said, “Sod it! Just get it and if it’s no good I’ll have it.” Bless her. 😛 So obviously I picked it up and OBVIOUSLY I liked it, because it wouldn’t be on my favourites if I didn’t This is obviously black and just to say if you don’t rub it in properly, your skin WILL go grey. This is also a thick primer too so a little goes a long way. The reason I was dubious though is it claims to mattify the skin. When you first put this on, it’s oily AF! Like seriously, I was pissed off when I tried this on the back of my hand in my mom’s living room. I tried it the next morning when I got home and after I put my power over the top – that oily look and feeling vanished and I was left with perfect airbrushed skin. I was shocked! However, I wondered if due to the original oily feeling it would cause my skin to break out… I waited and have been trying this for most of June now and I can report not a single issue! If you’d like a review of this product, please let me know by the way as I would be more than happy to! Especially if you have combination skin like I do. 🙂

  • Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy EDP.

This is one of my favourite perfumes and I honestly always forget just how much I love it, as well as how many memories it brings back. This is such a cheap perfume but for what it’s worth it really does make me happy. If you’ve never smelt it, (I’m pretty sure you will have – even if you didn’t realise it…) it smells just like blueberries and sugar. It’s gorgeous and although sickly for many, it’s perfect for me. I’ve been reaching for it lately as I just love the smell! Since starting my new job in April I’ve been binge using Dior’s Poison Girl and whilst I like it – it’s really grown off of me. I might just give it to my mom as I really don’t enjoy wearing it anymore… This being said it is a gorgeous perfume but my tastes have dramatically changed the past two years and I’ve really moved away from certain scents and grown to love others.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documental Season 3.

I cannot tell you enough how much I love this show but also how much I hate the fact the other four seasons are going to take FOREVER to come out over seas and be translated for us English speakers. I’ve mentioned this show on my blog many times in the past and I swear to God, I never laughed so much at the third season of this hilarious show. Basically it’s about ten Japanese comedians who are all locked in a room for six hours with the goal of winning 10 million yen (just over £73,000) by being the last person in the room who hasn’t laughed. They do some pretty normal things to make each other laugh, but then on the other hand they can be really extreme with it, which is the best part! Season 3 had some of the funniest things I have seen to date and after (what I thought) was a disappointing last season, this made up for it so much! It’s on Amazon Prime so if you have a subscription, I highly recommend you go and check it out!

Favourite Movie – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

If there is a film I think I actually regret not going to watch in the cinema, it might just be this one. Me and Dane were recommended by out D&D Dungeon Master to check out this film as it was amazing, mind blowing and more. It was certainly enjoyable to watch and had so many awesome points in it, including the one in the gif to be fair. It was really colourful too and the animation felt unique and worked well for the style. It was very stylised to look like the comic books the story of Spider-Man have of course come from. Not going to lie – I’m shite when it comes to reviewing things like this. It’s out now on DVD and Blu-ray to go and buy it. It’s so worth the monies. 😛

Favourite Book – Erm…

Fuck sake man. My reading manga game is shite lately and it actually makes me so sad. I have so many volumes from at least 5 series to catch up on and I’m so pissed that I am neglecting that. It’s honestly due to the fact I like to play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp during my lunch break at work (which I’m not doing today because I’m writing this instead :P) so reading has taken a back shelf. I seriously plan to spend this weekend reading and catching up. Sorry though guys – no manga mentions this month. 😦

Favourite Music – PVRIS – White Noise.

This is a band I mentioned falling in love with last month, but in all honestly this is a band I have fallen hard for and especially their first album White Noise which I downloaded from iTunes onto my phone in June – as well as their second album. The song “Fire” that I mentioned last month is what led me to discover PVRIS – as well as this album, but my favourite song from the album has fast become “Smoke” which I listen to over and over again on repeat. As and when this band tours the UK again, I WILL be going to see them! I know they’re playing Reading and Leeds this year but nah I won’t be going to a festival. 😛

Favourite Game – Trover Saves the Universe.

I feel shit for not mentioning Persona Q2 this month but honestly this would beat even Persona 5 hands down if I’d been playing that last month. This game is fucking hilarious and EVERYONE needs to play it! This game is by Justin Roiland, the guy behind Rick & Morty and the VR game Accounting. This is a VR game with the aim being to get your two pet dogs back, who have been stolen by a cross between a penguin and Patrick from Spongebob Square Pants. It’s fucking hilarious to play and the best thing I like with it is you can sit down as you play! Usually with VR games you’re standing up and it can get a bit tiring if you plan to play for hours on end… Even though we do it anyway! The comedy behind it is hilarious (as always from Roiland!) and fun to play. I cannot wait to continue playing it over the weekend.

So that’s everything this month in regards to my favourite items for June! Again, June whizzed by to be honest with you and when it came to thinking what content I needed up on my blog this week – I was shocked that it was time to be writing my two monthly posts. Crazy, huh?

What were you loving throughout June? Whether it be beauty, lifestyle or even stuff in general! I’d love to know. 🙂

Until next time all, take care and I hope you’re all not as tried as I am after the warm weekend. 😛

its gonna be may GIF

Image taken from GIPHY

I just had to add this gif here seeing as last year I added the IT’S GONNA BE MAY one! 😛

Wow. How is it May already?! It’s been a month since I started my new job, as well as Easter bank holiday passing and the first of two bank holiday’s this month are looming. How wonderful May is going to be. 😛

I have a feeling May is going to be a very busy month with both personal life as well as blogging life. I’m excited for what the month will bring to be honest with you. 🙂

Anyhoo it’s time to get on with my favourites from April!

  • Molton Brown Fiery Pink Pepper Bath & Shower Gel.

This is a product I’ve owned for quite a while to be honest with you, but I’ve only just managed to start using it. This is purely by choice to be honest with you. My mom gifted this to me as she had two and wasn’t as keen on the scent as she thought she was going to be. I’ve never used a Molton Brown product before but I know they’re quite high up there as a company when it comes to their products, so I knew it would be good. Bloody hell, I didn’t actually think it was going to be as good as it actually was! I was pleasantly surprised and would DEFINITELY purchase their products in the future. Not going to lie, this isn’t usually the scent I would choose myself but it’s gorgeous! It’s like a feminine smelling aftershave scent… If that makes sense? A little bit of this product goes a long way and foams up really good. The thing I love the most about it though is how the scent actually sticks onto the skin and it lasts until mid morning. I feel like not many shower gels do this so the fact this one does gives me reason to buy from Molton Brown. I honestly recommend them so much if you can justify the price.

  • EOS Lip Balm in Passion Fruit.

I didn’t actually need a new lip balm but when I spotted that Savers had the EOS Lip balms cheap at just £2.99 I decided to pick a new one up for myself. I’ve not used EOS lip balms for over 4 years now and reason for that being is that’s when my last one ran out (which you can read about here from back in my July Favourites 2015). I did purchase the Lemon Drop flavour a couple of years ago, but this was when I was having issues with infections on my lips and after I used it I didn’t touch it again. I still own it but I’m scared if I use it said infection will come back. I really need to just throw it away. ANYWAY! I have been loving this lip balm towards the end of April. I haven’t used a stick form style of lip balm for years due to that lip infection I had all that time ago (which you can read about here) so me buying this lip balm was quite a bit step because of that. I have no regrets however and have been loving using this. It smells amazing, tastes yummy and leaves my lips feeling gorgeous and soft. I plan to pick up more in the future at the steal of a price! I just wish they had more of the flavours I’d really like to try.

  • LAB LED Sonic Teeth Whitening Toothbrush.

This is actually a belated birthday present from my mom. Granted she bought me gift(s) for my birthday but she also really wanted to get me an electric toothbrush. We kept umming and ahhing over which one to get me and due to the fact we couldn’t settle on anything, it ws left… Until recently. My mom found this electric toothbrush by LAB and decided to order it for me. This is meant to be a whitening toothbrush but to be perfectly honest with you, I can’t notice any change in my teeth… Maybe others will but alas I haven’t Both me and Dane use this toothbrush as we have interchangeable heads and not only do I love it, but he does too! I really do feel like this cleans my teeth better than a manual toothbrush ever could and I really do love it! This also came with some charcoal toothpaste, which I rather like. It tastes really nice but it doesn’t foam up much. Would you guys like to see a review on this toothbrush at some point this month? Make sure to let me know!

  • The Body Shop Peppermint Candy Cane Fragranced Hand Cream.

This is another product that I’ve owned for ages but have yet to use. When I started my new job at the start of April I decided it was finally time to give it a go! I tell you what, I’m gutted that it’s a limited edition product from Christmas 2018 as this is by far one of my best The Body Shop hand creams I’ve ever used! I find with these hand creams they do NOTHING for my eczema prone hands and I end up hardly using them. However, this one really does work and I was pleasantly surprised due to that. It smells amazing too with the sweet peppermint scent. I am really sad that this is near the end of it’s life and I won’t be able to repurchase it… Hopefully this scent returns Christmas 2019!

  • Tweak’d by Nature Rhassoul Rise & Shine Volumising Shampoo.

I was pretty sceptical when it came down to using this shampoo. I’ve been rather fond of my L’Oreal sulphate free shampoo for quite some time now but when my mom recommended this shampoo for me, I decided to give it a go. My mom is usually spot on when it comes down to stuff like this. Alas I have fallen in love with this shampoo and I’m actually considering repurchasing it! It leaves my hair feeling soft, voluminous and smelling gorgeous! When I’m drying my hair I really notice the scent it leaves behind. This isn’t a sulphate free shampoo but I don’t feel like I’ve really noticed this in regards to the aftermath of the shampoo after washing. My only issue with this shampoo is that it takes bloody ages to get it to a lovely lather. I worry I use too much of the product and then not only am I “wasting” it I’m also putting possibly too much product into my hair. If I don’t create a massive lather in my hair, I don’t feel like I’m getting it clean… If that makes sense? I would like to try more of the Tweak’d by Nature range as they seem really good, as well as different.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

fruits basket kagura GIF by Funimation

Favourite TV Show – Fruits Basket.

First of all I just want to say – I chose the gif above because I thought it was so bloody cute!

I really need to give myself a kick up the arse lately as my reading of anime and watching of manga has been SHOCKING since the start of the year! Alas April was my month for picking both of these things back up, which I’m really happy about! A new and adapted version of Fruits Basket launched in April and I’ve been watching it every Friday when a new episode came out on Funimation. I ALWAYS wanted to watch Fruits Basket back in the day when the original anime series was out, but I just never got to. I watched all of one maybe two episodes at a push but when it came down to watching the others I could NEVER find them anywhere to watch. I know the full series was out on DVD but the price of them was quite expensive back in the day and I just couldn’t justify it. Recently I was tempted to buy them all on DVD but I am so glad I left it, due to the new series coming out. Fruits Basket is about a girl who moves in with some friends but discovers they can all turn into animals from the Chinese zodiac. So far it’s been such a cute, funny and yet emotional anime and I’m so happy that the remake has come out so I can FINALLY watch this series somehow!

dumbo GIF by Walt Disney Studios

Favourite Movie – Dumbo and Avengers: Endgame.

April was definitely the month of movies and I swear, I was LOVING it! 😀 First of all me and Dane went to go and see Dumbo before the Easter bank holiday and whilst he wasn’t arsed about seeing it, I sort of was. The original Dumbo from 1941 is by far one of my favourite Disney movies and at almost every moment in this movie I WILL cry because it’s just a sad fucking movie. Even when good stuff happens (which let’s face it, is rare!) I cry. Anyways the Tim Burton version of Dumbo is really good and it was a film I was glad I went to the cinema to see. I’d gladly watch it again, especially with Dane’s nephew and even friends children as it was an enjoyable watch. I loved that they kept some little aspects of Dumbo in there from 1941. It was typical Tim Burton to be honest with you. If you have children I’d say take them to see it and if you’re like me and loved the original Dumbo then I recommend you go see it too.

Onto Avengers: Endgame… I don’t quite know what I can say about it without worrying I give anything away… It is an emotional 3 hours to be perfectly honest with you and I don’t think I’ve cried at a film so much since I went to watch Marley & Me – which I sobbed at! I recommend if you go to watch take some tissues and find a guide online of when is the best time(s) to go for toilet breaks! I found one AFTER we got out of the cinema and I actually went for my pee break at the right time. Not bad eh? 😛 I just loved this film so much for so many reasons… I just wish I could say more here without the worry of spoilers.

Favourite Book – In Real Life by Cory Doctorow.

I picked up this book around the start of April after finding it in Waterstones. I’d had it on my Amazon wish list for years but eventually removed it as I didn’t think I’d ever pick it up. Waterstones were selling it for £10 which is the cheapest I’ve found it anywhere. I’d have been a bit of a fool if I DIDN’T pick it up! This is about a girl whose family don’t have a whole lot of money. She hears about an online gaming world from a guest speaker at her school. After kindly asking her mother if she can pay to play the online game she goes into the game and discovers some stuff through it that open her eyes. It’s such a great book and I recommend it for people to read who love graphic novels as well as gaming.

Favourite Music – Ozzy Osbourne “See You On The Other Side” and Halsey “Without Me”.

I’ve really been getting into loads of new artists and songs lately and it’s thanks to the music that plays during my pole dance classes, as well as listening to KERRANG! Radio all day at work. It’s amazing in all honesty and it if wasn’t thanks to both of those things lately I wouldn’t have discovered these two songs recently. The first one is by Ozzy Osbourne and is quite a sad song, but all the same I am addicted to it! It’s clearly about losing a loved one and it’s such a touching song. The second one by Halsey is another sad song about how she’s been through a rocky relationship and her feelings now it’s over. Both songs are beautiful and I love listening to them both on a daily business.

Favourite Game – Yoshi’s Crafted World.

I know this was my favourite game last month too but in all honesty I have been LOVING this game! I played it nonstop over the Easter bank holidays and adored it! Not going to lie, I plan to play it tonight after I’ve finished writing this post (day before this post went live!) as I just love it that much. I’ve played a couple of Yoshi games over the years but none of them have been as enjoyable as this one has to me. I just find it so relaxing to play and every level is so in depth with all the different secrets you can find, collecting items through gatcha machines and even two player mode. There’s nothing not to like about this game and that’s why it’s here again for another month running. 😀

So those are all my favourites from April! The month went by so bloody quick and I already can’t quite believe I’ve been in my job a month today. I’m really enjoying it so far.

How was April for my lovely readers? Also which items were you loving in April? Make sure to let me know in the comments.

Until next time all, take care and I hope you’re having a great week so far. I’m off out tonight for a blog event! Exciting times!

April Favourites ’18

Its Gonna Be May GIF

Image taken from GIPHY

Oh man I had to use that gif! I’ve never done this before so any time is better than no time! 😛

April went by so damn quick to be honest and I can’t believe that not only is May here, but that Avengers Infinity Wars is also here and breaking everyone’s hearts.

I’m off work tomorrow (YAYS!) so I’m going to have a blog and chill day. For now though I’m catching up on some housework whilst doing some blogging.

This months favourites are pretty good (in my opinion anyway!) and I’m loving everything on this list, which I hope you do too! 😀

  • Jo Malone Cologne in Earl Grey & Cucumber (review)

This is an old favourite of mine and one I tend to use on and off whenever the mood takes me. It’s one I got through my old job at Costa Coffee and since then I use it on special occasions. I think pretty much every weekend in April however, I’ve used this when going out! It’s a really strong perfume so you can use it once and it’ll last for ages! I love the scent so much and although I love it more during autumn and winter, it’s been so refreshing to use during the spring month of April!

  • Antipodes Deliverance Hand Cream.

I was bought this as a Christmas present back in 2015, which I know is forever ago and probably means that it’s out of date but I don’t care. 😛 When tidying stuff in our bedroom a few weeks back I found this hand cream again and have started to use it. I use it daily now, especially at work and it’s really helped my hands with their recent spell of dryness! It smells really nice, just like lemongrass and isn’t too heavy and thick on your hands. I just love it to use throughout my shifts at work, as well as on the go. I’d definitely buy it myself.

  • Nivea Peach Shine & Cherry Shine Caring Lip Balm.

I would just talk about one of these this month but I love both so much equally that they both need to be spoken about! I used to use the cherry and strawberry Nivea lip balms ALL THE TIME during my final years of school! I just feel like a kid again and it’s so weird. The cherry one is tinted so you get a slight pinky/red tint, which is lovely. The peach one you don’t really get much of a tint. They both smell amazing too, which I love the most! Towards the end of the month my lips have been splitting again at the sides, so sadly I haven’t been able to use the lip balms.

  • Newtons Labs T-Zone Spot Zapping Gel.

This is an oldie and goldie I have loved on and off over the years. I always have a supply of it in case I break out badly and need it. I don’t know why but a couple of weeks ago my cheeks broke out so badly that I worried it was the start of acne. Thankfully due to other beauty products it’s now passed, but I do feel this tea tree gel really has helped too!

  • The Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel.

This is always a firm favourite of mine and Dane bought it for me for my birthday this year. I started using it FINALLY in April and I always forget how much I love it. It reminds me of when I was a child, my mom would always buy it for me and I fondly remember using it before school most mornings when I was in primary school. It’s definitely a great shower gel to start using with spring here!

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documental Season 1.

Oh man if there is a show I have thoroughly loved and enjoyed it’s definitely Documental! Dane was watching it one morning and got me to watch the start of episode 3, I really got into it and continued to watch that episode, as well as 4 with him. I then went on to watch episode 1 and 2 on my own. Since then I’ve watched it again, as some of the moments in episode 3 and 4 are absolutely hilarious! It’s created and presented by a big Japanese comedian, Hitoshi Matsumoto. 10 Japanese comedians are locked in a room for either 6 or 9 hours and the one whose left in the room will win 10 million yen! Each comedian has taken in a million yen, which obviously makes up the prize money. The one who will win the 10 million yen needs to be the one who doesn’t laugh or smile. Some of the stuff the comedians will do to throw one another off is just amazing. I’ve seen online that there’s 3, maybe even 4 seasons now and I cannot wait for them all to come out!

black panther marvel GIF

Favourite Film – Black Panther and Marvel Infinity War

I know I’m talking about two Marvel films, but I just have to! First of all just before Dane’s birthday we went to see Black Panther and it’s fast turned into one of my favourite Avengers movies! There was so much action going on throughout the movie and it was perfect. I especially loved Erik Killmonger (reason why the gif is of him! :P) and he stole the show, well… Movie. 😛

The second film on this list is Infinity War. I’m not going to talk too much about this film here, obviously due to spoilers and shit. Let’s just say both me and Dane were really excited but nervous to go and watch it. We went in excited and unsure what to expect, but left feeling confused and depressed. Honestly I felt low the whole of Sunday, as did Dane. I think I can speak for us both when we say we want to go again soon to see it.

K-On Guitars GIF

Image taken from GIPHY

Favourite Book – K-ON!

I love K-ON! the anime so much! So this time last year I ended up buying all of the manga because I needed more. I’ve only just recently started reading them of late however! I’m currently on Vol. 3 and loving it! I just love getting to work early most mornings and reading them before I head in. It’s also funny reading them during my shifts at work during my breaks too. I can’t wait to finish reading them however though now.

Favourite Song/Album/Artist – James Arthur.

This is thanks to the radio at work to be honest. Both of these songs come on on a daily basis and I love them so much! James Arthur has such a lovely singing voice and I’ve found myself singing along to these songs most days throughout the month. There isn’t much more music I can talk about on here really as I haven’t listened to much more in all honesty.

Favourite Game – A Way Out.

During our depressive state after Marvel Infinity Wars me and Dane decided to buy this on the Xbox One. We’ve been playing it together and we’re having so much fun. It’s about two guys and you get to pick who you play as. Leo is already in prison, but you start the game either playing as or witnessing Vincent coming into the prison. From there you have to work together to escape prison and both take on the same person who caused you to be in jail in the first place. Or something like that anyway. 😛

So those were my favourites for this month! I still can’t believe it’s May! There’s loads of stuff coming up in June, I’ll have to write about it towards the end of this month.

I’m sorry my April favourites are up late today, I’ve just been so incredibly busy over the weekend and yesterday, but I’m sure it’s worth the wait!

What were your favourites throughout April? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a great week so far.

Artists I Can’t Stop Listening To This Summer

I remember many moons ago and after researching it’s actually been 4 years on Wednesday! Wow! You can read that post here, it’s actually about what albums I was l listening to that summer.

This post is going to be very similar but instead of listening an amount of albums I’ll be listening to it’ll be a mixture of that, singles and all around artists I can’t get enough of this year.

I always  listen to my music on the way to and from work, but lately I’ve been listening to my music loads, especially when doing blog work.

Considering how long it has been since I last wrote a post like this I think this one is long overdue! I’ll be talking about all sorts of genres here as well… Well I’ll try to anyway! 😛

Nirvana – Miscellaneous

If there is a band I have always loved it has been Nirvana, BUT I have really fallen in love with them since moving into the house and for a while just binge listened to them. I still find myself doing this now, especially when I finish work for the weekend. I end up blasting these wherever I go! It’s more so Nevermind that I listen to than anything. The start of this album is always one that gets me in the “party” mood without there even being a part in the first place. 😛

Rammstein – “Du Hast”

If there is one Rammstein song that I’ll listen to it’ll be this oldie but goldie. This is a song I always go back to when I want a heavy metal song to listen to on  my way home from work. Me and Dane also have a fond moment from this song a couple of summers ago. We were coming back from the Lake District and stuck in some pretty shitty traffic. A car near us was playing some fugly music (no I shouldn’t judge other peoples music tastes… But I will… :P) and they kept turning it up louder and louder, so I put “Du Hast” on, turned it up loud and watched them turn their shit down. We laughed about it loads afterwards. 😛

The Real McKenzies – “Sailor Man”

The reason this song is here is 1. because it’s fucking amazing and 2. because it plays straight after “Du Hast” on my iPod and it work so damn well! You know when you’re out in a club and the DJ just combines and makes two songs flow really well one after the other? Yeah, THAT! I’m my own personal DJ! 😛 Other than that this song is a cover of Turbonegro’s song and it’s so much better than the original, which in turn makes me happy! It’s thanks to Bam Margera that I discovered this song… As well as a lot of my other music on my iPod. 😛 That is also one of the reasons why I have Johnny Knoxville dressed as an old man dancing above this. 😉

Metallica – Miscellaneous

I don’t know why but I find myself listening to the small collection of Metallica songs I have on my iPod loads at the moment! A part of me blames my friend Lee as since him and Dane had their jamming session about a month back this is when I started listening to them again. I don’t know what my favourite song by them is, as I love so many! To name three it would have to be “Enter Sandman”, “Whiskey In The Jar” and “The Unforgiven II”. “Enter Sandman” is definitely my favourite of the three however and I love to sing it whenever I have it on. Of course I had to attach the clip from Jimmy Fallon where the guys played it on toy instruments. Such an awesome moment.

Metronomy – “The Look”

This song is kinda old now but one I always love putting on and listening to. It’s a classic summer staple for my playlists in the car and is one I love listening to both to and from work, as well as when I’m out running errands. It’s a very 80’s sounding song to me due to the way the keyboards are played. It’s classed as a mixture of pop and indie and some are calling them indietronica which is a new genre to me. 😛 Either way I love this song!

Clean Bandit – “Rather Be” Feat. Jess Glynne

This song actually reminds me of winter if anything but it’s one I can listen to whenever really. Sadly sometimes it does just remind me of M&S thanks to the adverts using it for quite a while. This is an old song though to be honest and one although I don’t find myself listening to as much, it’s on a couple of chillout CD’s I keep in my car for if my iPod dies, so I listen to this on car journeys quite a bit.

Ivy & Gold – “Lullaby” The Cure cover

I remember when I was younger not being a fan of The Cure at all and I mostly blame this on being in class with someone who was OBSESSED with them. It kinda put me off. When I worked at Costa though they played The Cure quite a lot and I ended up falling in love with some of their songs, including “Lullaby” and “Close To Me”. As I tend to do, I looked for a cover of some of their songs and found this gem, which I actually like more than the original. It’s by Ivy & Gold who (as far as I’m aware) aren’t that well-known. I started listening to this song again and I forgot just how much I love it. You’ll have to YouTube search it if you want to have a listen yourself.

The Bloodhound Gang – EVERYTHING!!!

Oh man I can’t even talk about this band enough. They’re one of my favourites and for so many fucking reasons. Their latest album is probably my favourite one and it’s the one I find myself listening to the most alongside their greatest hits. Their songs aren’t anything special but the lyrics are so fucking funny and dark and offensive and because of that I love them. Like most the first song I heard from them was “The Bad Touch” and that was through a dancing game my cousin owned. I remember we called it the waffle song… If you don’t get why then you need to go and Google the lyrics RIGHT NOW. One of my favourite songs has to be “Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo” just because it was one of the first songs I REALLY heard knowing who it was actually by. After hearing this song I then discovered who the waffle song was by and what it was actually about. 😛

Klaypex – “Chinter’s Will” Feat. Sara Kay

This is an old song on my iPod and one I actually forgot that I had! It’s the kind of song I would edit onto some snowboarding footage as it just sounds like the sort of music Deadmau5 would bring out. The singer Sara Kay who features on the track has a lovely singing voice too! For a drum and bass style song this is somewhat relaxing to listen to.

Knife Party – Mix Tapes

I’ve loved Knife Party since they came out in 2011 and have followed their music since then. If you don’t know WHO they are then do you remember Pendulum? Well it’s them guys but behind a new name and with much better music! Although I love the singles they’ve released, I love their mix tapes more as I love hearing all sorts of music mashed with those singles. I remember when their first mix tape came out from when they played in Miami. It’s still my favourite tape yet! Their mix tapes are perfect to play at parties and when out in the garden. I played loads of Knife Party in 2015 when I went to Fuerteventura and I’m sure I’ll do the same again in a few months..

 Savant – Vario

This is an artist and album that Dane introduced me to when we first met and since then it’s definitely an album I listen to throughout the summer months. Again it’ll be one I play when we’re in Fuerteventura. Savant is an electronic artist and his music reminds me of chiptune a little due to the sort of game play sounding elements throughout his songs, on Vario anyway! I would love to see him play live as I can just imagine what a buzz everyone would get whilst certain songs play, such as “Splinter”, “Living iPod” and “Burgertime”. I can just imagine these sorts of songs (again!) going really well on snowboarding videos. If you think you’ll like the sound of some of his stuff then go and give him a listen, as his music is amazing. It’s nothing like what is out there right now.

With that I have come to the end of this  list as otherwise I will go on forever! There are so many of my favourite artists that I didn’t even mention, such as Evanescence, The Pretty Reckless, cKy, Daft Punk, Limp Bizkit, Queens of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters, etc. BUT I don’t think bands like that need mentioning here. 😉

What music do you like listening to throughout the summer? Are there certain artists or genres? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time take care all and I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend!

April Favourites ’17

Easter holidays are over, all the chocolate eggs have been sold or are still on sale in the shops, and Mini Eggs won’t be back until New Year… This is the saddest thing for me. I fucking love Mini Eggs! 😛

But we’re into May now and happy May Day! I’m off work for a change and I intend to spend the day doing sod all and chilling out with Dane. I might make us sausage and mash… Love it!

ANYWAY! With a new month of course comes my monthly posts, including my favourites. April was a funny month, but I discovered a lot of new items this month gone and luckily stuff I needed… Not just buying for the sake of it. 😛

  • Imperial Leather Marshmallow Shower Cream.

I’ve used this in the past and I’m pretty sure it has featured on my monthly favourites before. It being featured on here again just shows what an amazing product it is! I actually forgot how good it was until I recently started using it again. It smells beautiful and leaves your skin not only smelling yummy but feeling lovely and soft too. For only a £1 you cannot go wrong!

  • Vaseline Lip Therapy with Cocoa Butter.

It’s shit to admit but my lips are STILL bad. Well they appear to be on the mend now and better than before but still bad… Urgh. I finally got some decent answers from two doctors recently and was given the right treatments. Alongside using the treatment creams I’ve also been slathering on this Vaseline in between applications to keep my lips nice and moist… Ew I hate that word but it’s the only word I can use right now and it be accurate. This tub is for around the house, as I bought an aloe vera one for out on the go and for work. I don’t like that one as much as the cocoa butter though to be honest. I find the smell to be fresh, but that doesn’t apply when on the lips. I feel like the cocoa butter scent is lovely both in the jar and when applied to the lips. You can never go wrong with cocoa butter to be fair! I love this better than the original Vaseline though to be honest! 😀

  • Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Gel.

I needed a new eye gel last month and wanted to make sure to get something that would cool my eyes whilst hydrating them throughout the day. I wouldn’t usually go for a low budget eye gel due to the whole, “It’s not going to do sod all…” but I thought for £1.50 it wouldn’t break the bank to give it a whirl! I hate eye creams and have always opted to buying gels if I can. This one is amazing and really does soothe and cool tired eyes either in the morning before work or after a long day in the evening. Either way I love this and I think I’ll end up buying another soon for mine and Dane’s holiday in September!

  • Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paint in shade Copper Mine.

When I was off work during April I decided to paint my nails as due to the job I do I’m not allowed to wear it whilst working. I have a couple of these Molten Metal polishes but this one is my favourite. I find the copper shade suits my yellow skin tone the best and it just looks gorgeous too. The formula is lovely and it lasts ages before chipping! Even whilst doing loads of work on the house last week it hardly chipped. This was without a top coat too! I’ll be reviewing these very soon as they deserve a review. I plan to get myself the new holographic shade that recently came out. These are on 2 for £7 at the moment so I’ll be getting that and another shade.

  • Radox Feel Heavenly Bath Soak with Coconut & Milk.

Finally we have a bubble bath on my monthly favourites. I still use my Lush products, don’t get me wrong but more often than not I find if I overuse them it actually causes more harm to my body than good. That and I try to make my money last at the moment. ANYWAY! This bath soak was bought on a whim that I wanted something nice and light to use on days off work and before bed. This is a gorgeous bubble bath where a little bit goes a long way, but I always add a generous amount to my bath to create LOADS of bubbles. I always find this leaves my skin lovely and soft after use. It’s amazing.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – Sirens (UK version).

This is a show I recently started to re-watch. It was out YEARS ago… (looks on Wikipedia) Holy shit 2011 was when this show first aired. I feel old. Very old. ANYWAY! As the title may give away this show is about 3 paramedics and it shows what they get up to during their shifts. It also shows a couple of members of the Police and Fire Service too. This is fiction I’ll have you know and is actually a comedy. I love it so much though, it just makes me laugh. There are some serious notes in it however and with that it does remind me of Only Fools and Horses. One moment it can be side splitting funny and the next bringing a tear to your eye. If you’ve never watched it and you fancy giving it a go then I think you’re only options now are going to be watching it online for free, or as a shitty YouTube upload. I’m being naughty and watching it online for free… Hey! I’d buy it if I could!

Favourite Film – Your Name (Kimi no Na wa).

Last month me and Dane went to go and watch this after he found out it was showing in the Mockingbird cinema in Birmingham’s Custard Factory. He booked it that day and that evening we were off to watch it. Oh my God it wasn’t even what I was expecting it to be to be honest. I knew what the basic plot was for the film but it has a lot of twists and such throughout the film. I don’t want to talk too in depth as I worry it could spoil the film for anyone who hasn’t seen it. You can watch a trailer here if you like the sound of it. BUT to be honest if you haven’t heard about it by now, whether you’re an anime fan or not then where have you been hiding? It keeps being spoken about how it’s the best anime film for quite some time. 😛

Favourite Book – K-ON!

As regular readers of my blog will know I have been reading nothing but manga since the start of the year and whilst it is an expensive thing to keep on top of, it is so damn worth it! I recently purchased all of the K-ON manga to read and whilst I am only somewhat through the series, I am in love with it. It’s just great to see some of my new favourite anime characters come to life on the pages of the manga as well as through the anime series. I’ll be reviewing in the future!

Favourite Songs – George Michael “Freedom! 90” and “Careless Whisper”.

This is kind of random I suppose but a few nights ago I just started listening to songs from the 00’s… Which led to songs from the 90’s and for some reason that then led me to listen to some of George Michael’s best singles. Of course he died at the end of last year which was a real shame. He was a talented guy in every way! I have always had a place for “Freedom! 90” and I don’t know why… I especially love the music video as I think it’s so clever, alongside the song as a dig at the music industry. 😛 Thanks to Deadpool now whenever I hear “Careless Whisper” I just think of Ryan Reynolds singing it at the end of the film. HA! 😛 BUT instead of popping either of the songs mentioned above I thought I would attach Seether’s cover of “Careless Whisper”. It’s amazing in my eyes and they did a really good job!

Favourite game – TsumTsum.

This is a game I have owned for as long as I’ve had my iPhone 6 to be honest… I remember when I went on holiday with my dad in November 2015 playing it whenever we were near a WiFi connection! ANYWAY… This is a game I have been playing nonstop this month and it’s one I always forget that I love to play. It’s a game that you can actually pay to play in Japan as an actual arcade game. I would love to play it like that! I’ve attached a video above of Sharla playing it! It’s just a great, free and relaxing game to play. It’s one of those where you need to match up 3 plus of the same Disney character to get rid of them, get a high score, coins etc. With those coins you can buy new characters etc. If you love Disney and love the Tsum Tsum’s then you’ll love this!

So those were my favourites from April! I can’t believe how quickly the year is going by though to be perfectly honest. Next month me and Dane will have been in our house for a year and I don’t know if I like that or if it scares me a little. Time is going wayyyyy too fast and I don’t think I like that. It also means next month marks our four year anniversary which IS exciting and I don’t mind that. 😛 It does feel like we’ve been together longer mind.

What products were you loving throughout April? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time take care all and I hope you have a lovely bank holiday Monday. I know I will be. 😛

What I’m Listening To Lately…

Image taken from weheartit.com

I love music and lately I’ve been listening to all sorts of genres and tracks that I wanted to share with you.

I was intending to do a Winter Albums post but I can’t decide which albums I wish to share with you right now so I’m sure I’ll start my season album posts in spring!

Image taken from en.wikipedia.org

“Never Take Friendship Personal” by Anberlin.

Thanks to Spotify’s radio station for Flyleaf I was able to find this amazing song and since discovering it late November I have fallen in love with it, only recently downloading it onto my iPhone.

This is all I’ve been playing whilst I write blog posts and it has fast become something I would love as a ringtone on my phone too.

As well as that I’m currently learning the bass tab of this, it’s not a hard tab to learn so I’m really enjoying learning it, even though it isn’t much of a challenge.

My boyfriend has this album and from listening to it on and off during December whilst I stole his laptop to write-up some posts for my blog, I have grown to love that too and I can see me stealing his copy of it, as I can’t find this anywhere to buy for a reasonable price!

Anberlin are classed as alternative rock, which is probably my favourite genre. If you like rock music and haven’t heard any of Anberlin’s music before then I recommend you check these out!

“The Monster” ft. Rihanna by Eminem.

From a young age I was a fan of Eminem but nothing massive, although I do and still love The Marshall Mathers LP and my cousins and I would spend most of our weekends off school listening to it. As for Rihanna I remember when she first came out with “Pon de Replay” in 2005 and since then she has grown into an amazing artist!

This song is a great mixture of pop (Rihanna) and hip hop (Eminem) and the lyrics are really good too and could relate to all sorts of different things, especially mental health issues. I love the chorus for this song as well as the backing music, it’s just so damn catchy and it sounds great.

I’ve finally downloaded this and now it’s on my iPhone I haven’t stopped being able to play it, it’s not far behind “Never Take Friendship Personal” for the amount of plays it’s has so far. I just love this song so much!

Image taken from en.wikipedia.org

“If I were a Boy” by Beyoncé.

I’ve liked this song since it first came out as the lyrics are really heartfelt and most women at one stage or another can relate to them I find. As well as that the pop mixed with folk ballad in the background is really nice and typical of Beyoncé.

If you haven’t watched the music for this, then go for it as it’s a very good concept to tie in with the song itself, thus it works very well.

The only problem with this song is that it can make men sound like they don’t care about their significant others whilst they’re working, at home with them, etc and does make women seem like they’re always loving, innocent etc but at the same time it does show the message that if we were men we would “do what they do” but in realisation most women won’t do that because we are rather sensitive creatures. But this is the point I’m getting to, some women WILL and DO do this and it really is shitty. So it’s not just men who will go out there and not think as much about their loved one as they might for them.

Rant over, either way this song is great, the music video for it is great and I really like listening to this song. Sunset Takeover have done a cover of this, which is a rock version. It works really well and I love it.

“Boy of Defeat” by Gumi.

Okay now I have to clarify that Gumi isn’t a real person, Gumi is one of the many Vocaloid

characters and if you would like to know more about here then please check this link out, as it’ll take me ages to explain about what she is and what she does.

I love this song and whilst I’ve owned it for months now, I’ve been playing it in my car for quite a majority of my drives to and from places and it’s a very good song to listen to whilst driving. The song is infact in Japanese but I have found some lyrics translated into English so that I’ll know exactly what Gumi is saying.

The song itself is really catchy and has a pop rock or alternative rock feel to it, with Gumi’s vocals just making the song perfect! If you like this sort of music then check out more songs by Gumi! It’s scary to think that she doesn’t exist and is just a computer programme.

Image taken from en.wikipedia.org

“All The Same” by Sick Puppies.

I can’t explain in words how much I love this song and I have done for months now! Like “Never Take Friendship Personal” I heard this song on the Flyleaf radio station on Spotify and I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it.

Although I love this song so much, I still need to burn it onto a disc to play in my car! Alongside all these other songs, apart from the Gumi song I mentioned above.

This song is very heartfelt and I can relate to it in a lot of ways due to what has happened with people in my past. The music video for this is rather weird but the band themselves are amazing and since hearing this song I’m going to download their album Dressed Up as Life, which I’ve listened to the first half of on Spotify. Oh good old Spotify!

So what songs have you been listening to lately? Let me know in the comments down below!

I thought this would be a nice thing to post about on my blog, as whilst I am mostly beauty and fashion related, I do of course like to bring on some lifestyle related posts to mix it up a bit!

So until next time take care all, I hope you’re well and that January has treated you well.

The Christmas Tag!

Image taken from weheartit.com

As it’s only 12 days now until Christmas, I thought I would take part in the Christmas tag! I wasn’t specifically tagged to do this post but after reading Amy’s Christmas tag she encouraged fellow bloggers to take part!

I’m not all that Christmassy (as this post explains) but since December starting I’ve been trying to get as festive as possible! I have my second EVER Christmas meal on Saturday evening which I’m super excited about.

So now I have a cup of caramel coffee (not from work, sadly) and a yummy candle burning, let’s get on with the tag!

What is your favourite Christmas film?

Gosh I really don’t know… Probably the Home Alone films. I remember watching Home Alone as a kid and laughing my arse off! Then Home Alone 2 when I was younger and I loved it so much, it was the reason behind me wanting to go to New York, which I of course still wish to do. Although not many like Home Alone 3, I love it just as much as the first two as I find it hilarious. Think I might watch them all over the weekend, I know last Sunday Home Alone was on TV  but I missed it, sad times.

FYI I just Google searched Home Alone and I found this YouTube video. It’s so damn cute and has just fueled my want for a pug puppy! I want a white one so I could call him/her Marshmallow. ^_^

What is your favourite festive colour?

Mmm this is a tough one… This year it’s definitely green, like a wine bottle green shade. That and wine red. I now sound like an alcoholic! I’m liking a bit of red too this year but it’s definitely dark green and burgundy shades. They just look great together as well as with other colours likes navy, black and grey, although those are technically shades. Christmas wise I’ve always loved blue, silver and white as it reminds me of snow, although red and green is nice too.

Do you open your gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Neither, we don’t open our gifts in the house until Christmas Day afternoon-evening time. One time we didn’t open anything until Boxing Day. We don’t do anything traditionally at all and a lot of people find that weird.

What is your favourite Christmas scent?

Oh this is a tough one, I have so many to choose from! Literally have my perfume box next to me so I can sniff away at all my perfumes! I can’t pick one, but since purchasing them the ones I have found myself going towards during the winter have been Thierry Mugler’s Alien EDP and Chanel’s Chance EDP. I also love Diesel’s Loverdose EDP too but as I’m running out I haven’t been able to use it, which in turn makes me rather sad. Gucci by Gucci also reminds me of Christmas time as my Mom gave it to me the night of the only Christmas party I attended when I went to university. It’s a gorgeous smell and definitely one for winter time.

What is your favourite holiday drink?

Non alcoholic it has to be a mint hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows! But otherwise it’s a Bailey’s hot chocolate or coffee. Something warming and I tend to have these when I’m out of an evening. I want to try Amaretto hot chocolate and Jägermeister hot chocolate too!

Candy Canes or Gingerbread Men?

Gingerbread Men definitely win this one! Candy Cane’s are okay but I find they’re prettier to look at than eat, whereas Gingerbread Men win both, they’re cute to look at but so yummy to munch on.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I really can’t say I have one, we have loads that play in work and some do stick out to me, two in particular but “Wonderful Christmastime” by Paul McCartney has always been one I’ve enjoyed singing along to, but since the age of 16 I’ve really liked singing along to is Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” which I heard God knows how many times last Friday at The German Market. Also I’ve heard this song I’ll be linking to below on YouTube and whilst it isn’t a famous song its beautiful and I MUST share!

Have you ever made a snowman?

I have done when I was a child but since then I really can’t recall going outside and making one. I prefer to leave the snow to settle and look beautiful and untouched, especially in my own back garden.

What is the most important thing to you about Christmas?

To be honest I really don’t know how to answer this because for as long as I can remember I haven’t really had a memorable Christmas. I guess about being happy that one day of the year alongside family, friends and loved ones.

So that’s the end of The Christmas Tag! Although she didn’t tag me, I want to thank Amy for doing this tag post as I wouldn’t have found it otherwise I don’t think. I really enjoyed doing it!

I tag everyone who reads this post, as well as my friend Poppy, who loves Christmas and I thought she would enjoy taking part in this tag! 😀

Make sure to comment or drop me a tweet at MayBeeCoffee if you take part in this tag! I want to see all your answers. 😀

Only 12 more days until Christmas, and I haven’t even finished my Christmas shopping! 😛

Take care all and I hope your week is going well.
