Guys Halloween is just around the corner and I for one will be sad when it has come and gone. So, to try and keep Halloween going for as long as I can this year I’ll be talking about it this week AND next week!
Recently Krista over at LeeksPlays tagged me to take part in the Hallotober Tag, and I thought it would be rude not to join in. π Halloween has fast turned into one of my favourite times of year and I am really excited for the spookiest day to be upon us next week!
I’ve literally just gotten home from getting my nails done for Halloween and I’m so excited to answer the questions on this tag now! Honestly, why can’t Halloween be everyday of the year? Or at least once a month? π
Rules Thank the person who tagged you and link to their post Put the rules at the beginning You can use the tag image somewhere in the post Answer the 13 questions Tag 13 people to do the tag Delete Question 13, add a new number one question of your own
1. Whatβs your favourite thing about October?
It’s not long after my favourite month of the year (September) and autumn is in full swing by that point! The weather is cooler, earlier nights are looming and I don’t need any excuse for drinking plenty of hot chocolates.
2. Are you a big celebrator of Halloween?
I have been on and off over the years! When I was a student I did really enjoy dressing up and going out for Halloween. These days I do enjoy doing stuff at home and with friends. This year I’ve bought shit loads of decorations for the house… I have zero regrets!
3. Whatβs your favourite horror movie?
I’d definitely say The Witches, The Addams Family and Beetlejuice are some that come to my mind straight away!
4. Would you rather a cosy night in watching horrors or a big night out in a costume?
I definitely prefer to stay in these days. The last time I went out for Halloween we couldn’t even get a drink due to how busy it was. It was a nightmare. This year I’m planning to definitely stay in and be cosy.
5. Which has been your most favourite costume to date?
It’s hard to choose to be honest with you… It’s either going to be Alex DeLarge from when I was 21 or when me and Dane dressed up as Mysterion and The Coon from South Park when we were 25/26. I’m so proud of both of those costumes to date and would love to wear The Coon out for cosplay in the future when cons go back to normal.
6. Bobbing for apples or pin the hat on the witch?
Pin the hat on the witch! Bobbing for apples has always been something that grossed me out. I remember as a kid wanting to give it a go but never doing so due to the thought of loads of people spit being in the tub.
7. How do you celebrate Halloween?
It depends to be honest with you. I usually try and do something whether it be with Dane or friends. It’s always fun to watch a film, play games or just do something spooky!
8. Whatβs your least favourite horror?
I’ve always found the Halloween series to be boring and overrated… Same for Paranormal Activity. This year I’ve wanted to watch Hocus Pocus as I’ve never seen it before and most people rave about it… However I feel like it’ll be another one that is overrated as well and would fast become something I regret watching.
9. Do you have a favourite trick or treating memory?
I only went once as a kid and we wore bin bags. xD Mostly we got given money instead of sweets. I think trick or treating was always something I’d wanted to do but after doing it I felt rubbish. It just felt like more effort than it was worth and like we were “begging” for sweets.
10. Whatβs your favourite thing about Halloween?
The only thing I can think of is when kids knock your door trick or treating and they’ve made ZERO effort. One year we had some teenagers knock the door and they hadn’t even dressed up… They’d put a bit of zombie make up on and blood. We gave them sweets anyway but it seemed so lazy of them.
This gif is pretty relevant too…
11. Scary costume or silly costume?
Silly costume! I’m not one for scary myself. I always like to have a laugh and especially at Halloween.
12. Whatβs your favourite Halloween candy?
I can’t say as I really have one to be honest with you… Years ago we bought some gummy spiders from a supermarket and they were so lovely! π
13. How will you be decorating your Animal Crossing Island this Halloween?
Well! So far I’ve decorated my villagers gardens with coloured Halloween/pumpkin decorations based on them. Aka Bones is white so he got a white pumpkin item. I’m trying to decorate as much spook as I can!
Now itβs your turn! Here are your thirteen questions!

AND anyone else who would LOVE to take part in this tag! π
So guys that is it, Hallotober Tag! I don’t know why but 2020 I have fallen in love with the idea of celebrating Halloween. I think it’s due to COVID and lockdown and due to being in the house most of the time now, I think I just wanted to get it looking really cool for Halloween.
To be honest with you, some of the decorations I’ve bought, I’m planning to leave up as they’re so cool! I bought some ghost fairy lights and I’m already planning to keep them where I’ve popped them. We’ve also bought a big ghost fairy light which I’d love to keep somewhere.
Are you looking forward to Halloween this year? If so, what are you planning on doing? π
Also, make sure to take part in the tag if you would like to! Make sure to link me back to your posts as I’d love to read your answers to the questions. π
Until next time, take care guys and see you next week for Halloween! π
It’s Christmas Eve and everyone is pretty much ready for Christmas now… Right? RIGHT?! I bloody hope so anyway, otherwise you’re pushing it a little bit… π
Last year I wrote about what gifts I would have wanted as a kid, as well as gifts I was wishing after for Christmas. You can read that post here.
This year I decided to do the same sort of thing on Christmas Eve, but I wanted to do a list of items I lusted and asked for as a teenager. When it came to thinking about items for this post, I really forgot about how much stuff I wanted as a teenager and how much of the stuff on the list I still own. It’s just made me think a lot… About how old I am! π
Of course as well as talking about items I asked for as a teenager, I’ll also be talking about items I’m hoping I’ve received for Christmas tomorrow.
I really hope you enjoy this post as I know I enjoyed writing the one last year about when I was little. Gosh I honestly can’t believe it’s Christmas Day tomorrow. This month has really flown!
Apple iPod Mini 1st Generation in Green.
I remember when the iPod first came out and my brother had one. I loved it and the thought of having all my music in one place was such a mind blowing and life changing idea! I used to use my CD Walkman all the time but I hated changing CD’s in it constantly or having just the one and it boring the hell out of me after the third play. I remember asking my mom for this for Christmas, but it didn’t come out until my birthday so I actually got it then. However, I never got to keep this iPod. Reasons for this were because the iPod broke and my mom was reluctant to replace it. I don’t know if you remember, but back in the day there were rumours that Apple were notorious for not testing their products and the first batches that people would buy would always be rubbish. This seemed to be the case with my green iPod as only a month or two into owning it it started to play up. It wouldn’t charge and when it did the charge lasted for seconds. It was confusing and upsetting, so my mom took me back to the shop (Dixons to be exact! Remember them?) to get a refund. I was upset already at this point that she wouldn’t replace it, instead she just wanted her money back. I understood why, she was angry that she’d spent a lot of money on the iPod for it to break so soon. So we explained in the shop what was wrong and how she wanted her money back. “The back light is constantly on. Is this how it’s been since you bought it?” It was, I always left the back light on. “Well we aren’t giving you a refund then. You’ve broken it yourself by leaving that back light on.” This was such a shitty attitude and my mom already being annoyed, was even more annoyed now! I was gutted. My dad took me to another Dixons store to try and get a refund for the iPod, we explained what we had to the first store and they gave us a full refund without any questions or judgement. PHEW! I never did get another iPod Mini to replace that one but when I started university I bought my iPod Nano, which I still own and use to this day. π
Converse All Star Hi Tops in Red.
The Christmas I received these was the year of my teenage years where I started to become who I am now… If that makes sense? I’d discovered so many of my favourite things including music, films, books, TV shows and especially what style of clothing I loved. I’d been eyeing up Converse hi tops for a while and especially wanted the red pair as they were different. I remember my brother taking me to the Bullring in Birmingham and buying me some new clothes for Christmas and my birthday. It was such a bizarre day to be honest with you… He bought me loads of clothes including jeans, tops and hoodies and he also bought me my hi tops, which I loved and wore them for about 2 years until I couldn’t anymore. They just wore down so much they were too uncomfortable to wear anymore. I still have them though… I don’t think I could ever part with them now in all honesty! I don’t know if I’d ever buy another pair of Converse now… I’m too much of a Vans and Docs girl now.
Angel Eau de Parfum by Thierry Mugler.
This was my first “proper” perfume that I owned and to this day I still own it! Not the same bottle as I would have had back in the day, but I always need a bottle of Angel in my life now. It reminds me of my mom to be honest with you, as I remember her buying this and falling in love with the smell! Angel is just such a unique perfume and anyone who loves their fragrance will instantly know what this is after you get a whiff of it. I remember as a teenager always asking for a bottle of this as I wanted my own, I didn’t want to keep sneaking my mom’s. π I can’t remember if my mom bought me a bottle for Christmas, or if I was bought it after someone went on holiday. I know I had a bottle as a teenager though and I felt glam as fuck! π
Kodak Easyshare Camera with Printer.
I remember my mom taking me to Dixons to buy this for me for Christmas. It wasn’t a surprise come Christmas Day but I loved it so much! I had wanted a digital camera for the longest time so my mom took me to have a look at what kind of camera I could pick up. We saw the Kodak ones with printers and were sold! I used this camera and printer to death to be honest with you and I’m pretty sure they still work! Yes, over 10 years later and I still own both the camera and the printer. I remember staying in my room taking selfie photos all the time and of my dog. I remember filmed a video of my dog Madge on this camera and it’s still the cutest thing. I wish I had that footage somewhere online so I could watch it now and link it here. But the best thing about this camera was as soon as you’ve taken your photos you could print them off AND you could plug the printer into your computer and print photos from off of there. It was a fab little device and I loved it so much. π
The Sims 2 PC Game.
This was something I wanted so badly, so when I opened it on Christmas Day from my brother I was so ecstatic! I remember him installing it for me and I couldn’t keep still at the anticipation of playing it. I spent so many days and nights playing this game and even played it whenever I went to see my cousins after school and over the weekends. I just fell in love with it. I actually really miss playing Sims 2 as I found it was the easiest to play, as well as the funniest! Every Christmas and birthday I’d always get the expansion packs too, which was awesome. Honestly though, many wasted years of my youth went into this game. π
Sony Ericsson W800.
After the whole iPod fiasco I was without an MP3 player for quite sometime. I also had a bit of a shit mobile as well. It was okay and it did the job, but as a teenager everyone wanted a good camera on their phone, as well as other things. I asked for this for Christmas but I didn’t get it until towards the end of secondary school. From memory it was marketed as one of the first phones to also double up as an MP3 player and this really did call to me! Plus it was white and orange, what more would you want from a phone as a teenager?! I always loved getting new phones over Christmas, it was just awesome back in the day. It’s different though these days for kids. They want them to go online and take selfies, where back when I was a teenager you just wanted something that could take photos and best games on there. π I remember this phone also had a selfie mirror on the back, which was always amazing.
Nintendo DS in Pink.
The final item on this list and one I wanted for years, and years, and years but I never got, which in turn I was gutted about. I asked for this for many years but the one year it was in a package with the Nintendogs game and I KNEW I really wanted it that Christmas. My dad even took me to GAME to buy it for me, but my brother talked him out of it saying, “Don’t get her that, Nintendo DS is shit! Get her a PSP instead!” So my dad made me look into the PSP and the games and I didn’t want any of them. So alas, due to the Nintendo DS being “shit” I never got one. Years later my dad bought me a red Nintendo DS Lite, which was amazing. π I am still gutted though that it took so long for me to get a Nintendo DS because of my brothers inaccuracies. π
OKAY so that’s all the items that I remember fondly asking for as a teenager for Christmas, as well as a bit of a back story into what happened when I got them/if I got them. ^_^
NOW onto the gifts I’ve wished for this Christmas! Some of these items I know I’ve been gifted, or asked for from Dane, his family and my own family. I know this list is probably boring, but meh. π
Persona 5 Morgana Plush.
I can’t tell you how long I have wanted this Morgana plush for! It’s not cheap to get a hold of though, which in itself sucks! I really hope deep down that Dane has bought me it for Christmas though, as I really want him. π I think I might have to treat myself to him sooner rather than later as I’d hate to see a SOLD OUT on him on the two websites I’ve found him on… It would definitely suck! Maybe if I don’t get him for Christmas or birthday, he can be a birthday treat to myself… π
Disney Wall-E Earth Day Pop Vinyl.
I literally just went to Amazon to see how much this guy is going for. Bloody hell, nearly Β£50! DAYUM. I’m really hoping Dane has picked him up for me for Christmas as it’s so damn cute and to be perfectly honest with you, how the first Wall-E pop vinyl should have looked really. If I do get him, he’ll stay in the box. π
South Park Princess Kenny Mug.
This is such a random thing on this list, but something I’d love either way! I think I’d love this mug more for work to be fair. I recently bought the t-shirt with Princess Kenny on and I’m in love. Princess Kenny is for sure one of my favourite things to come out of South Park and she’s definitely my boo. π I doubt very much I’ll get this mug for Christmas or birthday, but if I go to Fobidden Planet anytime soon, I may pick it up to use at work. π
I have a feeling Dane has bought me this for Christmas… It’s something I expressed that I really wanted for our bedroom. He’s always commented how he wanted a feature wall behind our bed, but I just can’t commit to something like that, especially as we have built in wardrobes in front of the bed with mirrors on. Imagine waking up every morning and just seeing a red wall? FYI that’s what he wanted. π However when I found this fox wall tapestry I fell in love with it! It’s such a pretty design on it and with a simple stick on wall hooks it’ll be up and down in no time! I’m also hoping I have some fairy lights to hang around it too. π
Olivia Burton Snow Globe Blush & Silver Watch.
I already know I have this for Christmas, as my mom has bought it for me, which in turn is so lovely of her. π She asked me what I wanted as a gift as she hadn’t got a clue and when I suggested this watch (and of course the hefty price tag!) she was over the moon to pick it up! That’s the good thing with both mine and her birthday’s right after Christmas and just days apart from each other (mine is the 6th and hers is the 7th!) so we can buy each other expensive gifts and have them for both occasions. π I LOVE this watch so much though! For a year now I’ve wanted a really nice designer watch, but as of yet I didn’t quite find anything I liked the look of, or showed who I am… If that makes sense? I love foxes, as everyone knows so when I saw that Olivia Burton were bringing a watch out with a fox on the face, I knew I had to get it. Bless my mom she’s also got my name etched onto the band too, which is gorgeous. She told me I could have it before Christmas, but I’m waiting until tomorrow. π
Elodie the Unicorn Humidifier.
I can’t remember how long I’ve wanted this for… I think it must be almost 2 years now! It was on Kickstarter and I wanted to back it so much, but I never bothered. It worked out quite expensive at the time. Elodie The Unicorn is an American branded item too so shipping was a bomb! I waited and waited and eventually Firebox started stocking Elodie The Unicorn items, one of which I spoke about recently on this post. However, I would love this humidifier for more than just the way it looks. I really want it to put essential oils in of an evening and during the weekends when me and Dane aren’t at work. Lavender for evenings and eucalyptus for when me and Dane have colds. I have a funny feeling that I’ve been bought this for Christmas… π
Loungefly Pokemon Eevee Embosed Tri-Fold Wallet.
I am gutted at the time of writing this post because I was actually going to order this for myself. It’s now out of stock and due to that a part of me has kind of died… I don’t need a new wallet, but I’d like to have one if I could. Mines definitely showing it’s age now. I doubt very much that I have this for Christmas, but a small part of me hopes I do. :’)
Pandora Bobby Bot Dog Charm.
I’ve had my eye on this Pandora charm for a while now. I’ve not really asked for any Pandora charms for some time and I don’t really know why… I guess I just haven’t liked the look of any, you know? However I do really LOVE this Bobby Bot dog! It’s so adorable and definitely something different. I tell you what though, for what it is it’s fucking expensive! It’s Β£50, which isn’t cheap for a Pandora charm in my opinion. I doubt very much that I have this for Christmas as I didn’t think of giving it as a gift idea…
So there’s my wish lists from back when I was a teenager to now I’m an adult! π As you’ll probably see from both lists, thing never change with me. π
I do miss being younger and having a carefree life, but at the same time I actually don’t miss those years of dealing with puberty, the heartbreak I felt when lusting after boys who thought I was grotesque and not having any freedom. π
I want to know what some of your memorable Christmas gifts were from when you were a teenager? As well as what gifts you’d like to receive come Christmas day? π
I have to add whilst it’s all well and good me talking about receiving gifts tomorrow and enjoying time with loved ones, we always have to remember there are people out there not as fortunate as some to have a lovely warm home and family members to be around at Christmas.
I always think of people who are both homeless and dealing with mental health issues around Christmas and it truly breaks my heart.
With that in mind, if you’re struggling today, tomorrow and for the rest of 2018 please make sure to drop me a message on any of my social media pages. I will always be happy and welcoming to you if you need someone to rant to. β€
On that note, I hope you have an amazing Christmas and a happy New Year! π
Oh man I love a good tag post to take part in and I’ve seen a couple of game related ones floating around lately! I’m not as big a gamer as I used to be, but even so I LOVE gaming on my own, as well as with Dane and our friends.
When I saw that Eleanor had done The Gamer Tag, I thought I would give it a go myself!
Like she did, I tag anyone who reads this post and wants to give it a go.
I hope you like and can relate to my answers!
1. WHAT IS YOU GAMER TAG?
I actually cannot remember and to be honest I’m 1. Too lazy to go and find out and 2. I don’t want randomers adding me. π
2. PC OR CONSOLE?
I like both but I’ve always been a console gal! π
3. CONSOLE OF CHOICE?
PlayStation 4, but considering I have an Xbox One and a Nintendo 2DS, the possibilities are endless! But if there’s a game I really want and it’s on PS4, I’ll get a game for that.
4. HANDHELD OF CHOICE? (DS, PS VITA, ETC.)
I prefer my 2DS to my PS Vita as I find there’s more choice, but I feel like I can do that little more on my PS Vita… AKA watch Crunchyroll. π
5. KEYBOARD OR GAMEPAD?
Gamepad for sure! I always get flustered using a keyboard.
6. SINGLEPLAYER OR MULTIPLAYER?
Depends on the game really… I love my single player games for obvious reasons, but I love playing with my friends too on multiplayer! I’d love for Persona 5 to be multiplayer so I could play with Dane.
7. WHAT WAS THE FIRST GAME YOU HAVE EVER PLAYED?
It was probably Pop’n Twinbee on the SNES. I still own that console as well as all the games I had handed down to me from my older brother and it’s safe to say, I still love it!
8. HARDEST GAME YOU HAVE EVER PLAYED?
Mmm… I thought long and hard about this for all of a minute and it’s definitely Rocket League! I cannot play it for toffee and I just hate it purely for how much I struggle to play it. I’ve played it with friends and just ended up rage quitting. I chase after the ball constantly and do fuck all with it. URGH!!!
9. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST GAMING SYSTEM?
The SNES! One of my older brothers bought himself a PlayStation so I had this donated to me. Years ago he asked my dad if he could have it back. Erm, no. π I still love it so much and play it once in a blue moon.
Oh man it used to be Pokemon but I think it’s been pushed off by Persona 5 recently! I don’t know, it might just be a toss up between the two. I’m a bit let down by Pokemon with Sun and Moon. They’re so different, easy to play and just boring and lame. I’m also sick and tired of them adding more and more Pokemon to the games… Only for them to be shite and pointless items! I don’t mind when it adds to stuff that works, AKA the Alohan forms as well as Eeveelutions, but I’m sick of Pokemon such as a bunch of keys or an ice cream. Come on guys, sort it out!
11. WHAT GAME IS CURRENTLY YOUR FAVOURITE?
Persona 5 for sure! I’m still on my second play through and trying to make it 100%! I’m also playing Persona 4: Golden at the same time… Which reminds me, I need to continue playing it! π
12. FAVOURITE VIDEO GAME GENRE?
I don’t know to be honest… I’m really loving JRPGs (Japanese role playing games) at the moment and I want to get more! I love games where I can relax whilst I play them too, such as Sims 4, Animal Crossing as well as Cooking Mama. It depends on my mood really!
Oh man it has to be Akira/Joker from Persona 5. He’s such and awesome and loveable character. He’s been through shit and still acts normal and not hating the world for what has happened. I love that he hasn’t rebelled or acted like a dick.
Also how can I forget Princess Kenny?! Not a massive video game character, more of a TV show character but fuck it, she was in a game and she was bloody fabulous! π
14. WHICH VIDEO GAME CHARACTER DO YOU HATE MOST?
I had to ask Dane for help on this as I couldn’t think of anyone for AGES! The only person either of us could come up with was Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher 3. I just don’t like the sound of his voice and urgh! Dane used to play this LOADS at one point and I hated whenever the character spoke. I can’t say I hate him, but I can’t think of anyone else…
15. WHAT NEW GAME YOU ARE MOST EXCITED FOR?
I can’t think of any games I’m really arsed about right now… Apart from the new Persona dance games that are due out this year in Japan and maybe 2019 in the UK. I know I’m excited for a couple of games but meh they haven’t announced a date for some of them yet so sadly my hype and excitement for them can’t start just yet… Sad times!
I’ve always loved everything that Quantic Dream have released, especially Heavy Rain! I know everyone went mad for it but I’d played Fahrenheit beforehand so I was excited for Heavy Rain leading up to its released. I’m excited for Detroit: Become Human but there isn’t a release date yet. WHICH SUCKS!
17. WHAT GAMING SYSTEMS DO YOU CURRENTLY HAVE?
I own many, but my most up to date one is my PlayStation 4. Alongside that I have my SNES, GameCube, PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and a PlayStation 3. I also have variousΒ handhelds including a GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo 2DS and PS Vita.
18. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN GAMING?
Since I can remember! Probably since the age of 5 or 6 when I was first given my SNES and my GameBoy.
19. HOW LONG WAS YOUR LONGEST GAMING SESSION?
Probably 12 hours… If there has been a longer gaming session then fuck knows when it was! When me and Dane first got together we would spend Sunday’s playing Minecraft for as long as possible before either of us went back home. I don’t play games as much as I used to and only tend to for long periods of time is if 1. Dane is away for work and I’m bored and 2. I’m obsessed with a game and Dane is happy doing his own thing for a very long time.
20. WHAT GAME HAVE YOU CLOCKED THE MOST TIME ON?
Definitely Persona 5! I’m currently on something stupid like 200-300 hours of game play! I am on my second play through however and near the end of it… I intend to play it again as well so that I can get all the trophies on it. π I’m pretty cure I have more hours on games such as Heavy Rain and any of the LEGO games I own due to wanting to get to 100% and all the trophies.
So that is The Gamer Tag! I do apologise for talking loads about Persona 5, but I swear that game has kind of changed my life… Gamer wise anyway! I’ve not loved something so much since I discovered Pokemon, lipstick and katsu curry!
Will you be giving The Gamer Tag a go if you’re a blogger? Make sure to link me to your answers and posts down below or over at my Twitter handle (@maybeecoffee).
Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a lovely week!
It’s that time of year when not only do I talk about what I received for Christmas and what I picked up in the Boxing Day sales, but also what I received for my birthday!
I am now 28 and although I’m not arsed I think it’s been a wake up call this year for me and Dane that we aren’t getting any younger and that we probably need to start thinking about our future… YUCK ADULTING! That’s for another post though!
My birthday this year was an odd one. I wasn’t very well the week before it and I wasn’t particularly 100% after it either. Even on the day when out and about for the day I had sinusitis, which really sucked. For the day though we didn’t do anything exciting, just went around Birmingham for the day, had some food and then came home with Japanese takeaway to eat whilst we watched Your Name. It was lovely and I couldn’t have asked for anything better to be honest with you.
The first thing I did in the morning was open the presents that Dane and his parents bought for me, which was lovely.
Dane’s parents bought me Nichijou Volume 3 and 4 which was really unexpected! I haven’t read the manga for a while and I really do need to keep up with it, especially with how cheap you can pick each volume up on Wordery.
They also bought me the South Park Mysterion figure which had a really lovely story behind it too! We’d been shopping with his parents in town before I started my new job and we’d seen the figure at half the price and I got excited about us getting it. Me and Dane both said no though however due to wanting to watch money for Christmas. We ventured downstairs in the shop to look around at manga and Dane’s parents stayed upstairs to look at Star Wars stuff. A while later and ages after we’d left the shop I noticed Dane’s mom had a bag from the store and I asked what she’d bought, to which she replied, “Oh nothing my bag broke so they gave me this one.” SUCH A GOOD LIE! I believed it and apparently they all worried I wouldn’t. This was lovely to receive though and me and Dane plan to pop it on our fireplace.
Then I opened Dane’s presents and again I received more manga! He bought me Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Volume 4 and 5 as well as A Polar Bear In Love Volume 1, which I have wanted for AGES! I was so excited at receiving it that I started reading it not long after opening my presents.
I was gutted that he didn’t buy me Your Name Volume 2 as that’s a manga I am loving right now, but bless him he ordered it there and then as he wasn’t sure if his parents has bought it for me. When this arrived in the post recently a calendar he’d bought me for Christmas also arrived so I thought I would include that here. It’s the Juniper Fox calendar and it’s so cute! I can’t wait to hang this up in the house.
I was meant to have a Nendoroid to open up on the day but sadly it didn’t arrive until after my birthday which I didn’t mind to be honest, but it bugged Dane. He bought me the Ash and Pikachu Nendoroid which I am so happy with! I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present.
Everyone at the office got me a card for my birthday as well as a bottle of Disaronno, which I thought was so lovely of them all! π I’ve never had anything like that at a work place before so it really made my day when I opened it in the morning of my birthday.
My brother and my mom bought my presents a little late as I don’t think they quite knew what to get for me. My mom ended up giving me some money which really did come in handy as I’m skint at the moment! My car needing to have its MOT AND tax didn’t exactly help matters either, but meh whatever.
I only thought that myΒ mom was giving me the money for my birthday but alas I was wrong as she also gifted me something that I originally thought was from my brother and whoever it was from, a the time I couldn’t have asked for anything better to be honest. For ages I have wanted the red delicate heart ring from Pandora but never bothered buying it for a few reasons, but the main one being that I’d never get the chance to wear it due to working in retail and hospitality. You aren’t allowed to wear any jewellery so I never bothered. Now I’m in admin work I can wear jewellery, which includes rings. I mentioned to Dane that I’d like this ring and in turn mentioned it in passing to my mom too, who then mentioned it to my brother. I found out my size in Pandora and told my brother what size I wanted and alas, here we are now! I got it for my middle finger and I love it so much. It’s so comfortable to wear and delicate which is what I wanted. I am a bit on the paranoid side that it’s a little too big for my finger but I’m going to see how it wears for a week. The first time I wore it was out on a food shop and I had no issues really, which was good. I can see me getting this ring has set off a new addiction and love for Pandora rings… π
Finally we come to what my brother got for me for my birthday! He also bought me something from Pandora but he bought me a Pandora charm. I didn’t have a clue which one however as he wanted it to be a surprise! So when I opened the box and saw it was a cute little Japanese Doll I fell in love with it straight away. I didn’t know what to expect to be honest with you and for a while I did wonder if he’d bought me a Disney charm as for ages I haven’t even known which Pandora charms I’ve wanted lately. He really hit the nail on the head with this charm however and I really do like it. It’s a dangling one and it’s so dainty and sweet! I don’t think my brother has ever bought me a Pandora charm before so this will always remind me of him when I wear this bracelet. What makes it even nicer in a way is that this charm is now discontinued (apparently anyway…) so it’s nice to think that it isn’t available anymore. A lot of my charms are discontinued ones now. π
So that was EVERYTHING I got for my birthday! I’m so grateful to my family and friends for their gifts and I always appreciate everything they do for me throughout the year. They really do make me feel spoilt.
I hope 2018 is going off to a good start for everyone! Sadly I cannot say the same considering I’ve been poorly since New Years Day with 4 different things… It really sucks. π¦
Anyways until next time, take care all and have an awesome week!
This post is way behind schedule and as I mentioned in my recent post, I am sorry about that but my health comes first and sadly a week later I am STILL poorly! Not as poorly as I was beforehand, thankfully but still poorly all the same. Me and Dane have a feeling I’ve got the Aussie flu that’s been going around the UK at the moment, either way I hope it passes by the end of the week when I’m back at work!
Finally I am getting around to sitting at my desk and writing this post, which is way overdue now but whatever, better late than never, eh?
I’m going to list my top 5 favourite things from all sorts of things including beauty, fashion and lifestyle because that’s the 3 topics I always focus on on There Might Be Coffee.
Again, I do apologise for how long this post has taken for me to write and publish, but here it finally is, my 2017 favourites!
Beauty
L’Oreal Paris Hydra Genius in Normal to Combination Skin (review here).
This is definitely my number one item of 2017 and was also my favourite discovery too! This was a product L’Oreal released last year and after hearing nothing but good things about it, I decided to pick it up when it was on offer. I only recently finished my first bottle and have already repurchased another. This is my go to moisturiser and one I recommend everyone to try, especially during the warmer months and for holidays abroad.
Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte Powder.
This is another release this year and one I’d heard positive reviews about so picked it up. Initially I didn’t think much on it, but hoped it would grow on me… It never did and I was really disappointed to be honest. I tried another face powder after this and it was only then I realised that the Rimmel powder was actually amazing and I ended up stopping use of the new powder and picked up another one of these. I really need to review it, but at the same time it doesn’t really need a review. It’s not the best matte powder in the world (Korean ones are! :P) but it really does the job for my oily t-zone and it doesn’t break the bank to buy either.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream.
I’ve mentioned this hand cream time and time again over the years and I know for a fact I mentioned it plenty of times on here. That itself goes to show how much I love this product. It’s definitely the best hand cream I own and I’ll always go back to it no matter what! Since moving to my new job the state of the eczema on my hands has improved dramatically and it’s purely due to applying hand cream whenever my hands have been washed/wet. I don’t ALWAYS apply this hand cream but it’s often what I reach for. It’s also what I keep in my handbag all the time as it’s great to use if my hands are suffering a little in the colder weather. It really picks my skin back up and if you suffer from eczema like I do, then I recommend trying this! It’s not cheap, but it works wonders.
Carmex Cherry Lip Balm.
Again, another beauty product I have spoken about highly since I bought it in September. It was my holy grail whilst I was in Fuerteventura as well as during the day at work whilst sitting at my desk. There’s loads of things I love about using Carmex over other lip balm brands including the cherry flavour, the tingling feeling it gives my lips as well as how thick the product is. Of course the moisture it gives to my lips is always good too! π I recently picked up the Christmas limited edition sugar plum flavour too, which is amazing.
Body Fantasies Signature Body Sprays in Cotton Candy and Vanilla.
I picked these up before I went to Fuerteventura as I planned to take the Cotton Candy with me to use in the evenings, but I never bothered and as soon as I got back home I was using them almost daily and still do! These smell gorgeous and I already know they’ll be a regular purchase throughout 2018. They’re great to spritz all over your body before getting changed, as well as spritzing all over you instead of using perfume. I always get compliments on these and they’re a really good price too and come in loads of different scents. I definitely recommend giving them a go if you fancy trying a new brand of body sprays.
Fashion
Standard Fox Sweatshirt.
Standard is a clothing brand in Fuerteventura and it’s always a store I visit whenever I’m on the island. Me and Dane both went in when we were there in September/October and Dane picked up a Stormtrooper t-shirt and I picked up this sweatshirt. It’s one of the most comfortable ones I own and it compliments so many outfits, oh and it’s also VERY warm! I wore it on our last day in Fuerteventura when we were coming home and let me tell you, wearing a sweatshirt and jeans for 7 hours in a hot airport is NOT GOOD. π I wear this with jeans as well as my denim shorts and tights. When we had snow I LIVED in this as it kept me lovely and snug, without being too cold or even too warm.
Ohayou Clothing Umbreon Varsity Jacket.
This is my go to jacket whenever I’m not at work basically, as I don’t think an Umbreon jacket would go down all that well, do you? π I live in this though whenever I’m not at work, as as well as my Eevee version too. I bought this in October and since then have worn it loads! I really want to get more of Ohayou’s varsity jackets as they also have a Vaporeon and Sylveon versions I would love to have.
Primark Knitted Dress.
This is a dress I forgot I owned until before Christmas. I still have some bits and pieces ofΒ mine left at my mom’s house which I need to go through and decide whether to keep or sell. I went to have a look for some potential work pieces and found this dress there. The last 2 times I’d worn it were both at funerals, my cousins and my grans so I decided to stop wearing it as I felt it was “tainted” with negative vibes. However since bringing it home I’ve worn it loads for work and it’s so comfortable and flattering on my figure. I don’t see it as being tainted anymore, but more of a dress I decided to wear to celebrate both my cousin and my grans lives.
Marks & Spencer Red Star Shirt.
I bought this dress not long before I went to Fuerteventura and even took it over there with me, although I didn’t wear it once! I love wearing this shirt for work, as well as for personal use. The first time I wore it was for a meal out with Dane and his parents. I teamed it with my denim shorts and tights and I felt so adorable! Now I’ll team it up with a black skater shirt and smart work trousers.
YURI!!! On Ice Cardigan.
Not going to lie, my new job was such an excuse for me to buy this cardigan… π I wanted it for ages but at the time it was so expensive at Β£41.99 but when it went down to Β£24.99 I snatched it up, as did my best friend Gabriella (HEYYY! :D) so we’re cardigan besties. π This is the most comfortable cardigan I own though and I wore it to death the first week I owned it! I still wear it loads as it’s got really long sleeves and isn’t too thick so isn’t too warm to wear in the office. I wear it with any outfit it’ll work with pretty much.

Persona 5 on PlayStation 4.
This has to be the number one favourite thing of mine from 2017 and thankfully just before the end of the year I FINALLY FINISHED IT and guess what? I’m currently replaying it! Who would have guessed then, eh? This was definitely the game of the year for me and for anyone who knows me, they know how obsessed I have grown for this game and how much more I want from it. Since buying and playing Persona 5, I have since bought and downloaded Persona 4: Golden as well as Persona 4: Dancing All Night. I equally can’t wait for Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night and especially for Persona 5: Dancing Star Night. I really want to review Persona 5 at some point but I’m crap at writing game reviews, I just want to write over and over how much I love it and that’s it. π

Kimi No Na Wa/Your Name Anime.
This film had to be the most popular anime film that came out in 2017 and it is clear why. It was a gorgeous film both visually as well as the story line and as soon as me and Dane got the chance to go and watch it, we took it with both hands. I loved the film so much so when Dane’s parents bought me it on Blu-ray I was thrilled! For my birthday a couple of days ago we got some takeaway Japanese food and popped this on the TV to watch. I forgot how much I loved it and this time we watched it in subbed, we watched dubbed at the cinema. I much prefer it in dubbed. π If you haven’t watched this film but love anime, GET ON IT!

South Park: The Fractured But Whole on PlayStation 4.
Although I was super excited for this game Persona 5 was the one that stole my heart in 2017. However, this game really holds a place in my heart for various different reasons. I love South Park and have done since it came out in the UK back in the 90’s. It was on Comedy Central as well as on Channel 4 late at night and it was my mom who introduced me to the show. Me and my cousins would stay up late to watch them together and if we never managed to, my aunt would record them for us to watch over the weekend. It was amazing! So when they announced a second game I was super excited! I grew pissed off though at the constant push backs of the release but eventually it stuck and before I knew it it was in my hands and then in my console being played. I finished it not long before Christmas and oh man, what a game! It was definitely different from The Stick Of Truth and I actually think I preferred it due to the story. I’m not saying anything but I wasn’t expecting what happened. This is another game I would love to review, but I’d be dire at it. π

American Horror Story TV Series.
Me and Dane started watching this in 2017 and oh man I love it so much, even though we’re very slow on continuing with it at the moment. Series 1 is by far my favourite one to date and the show is just so good. It pulls you in and yet keeps you on the edge of your seat all the same. The acting in it is incredible, especially by Evan Peters who I have fallen in love with thanks to the show, as well as his role of Tate. I can’t wait to continue watching the TV series in 2018.

A Silent Voice Manga.
This was by far one of my favourite manga to read this year, as well as one of my favourite anime movies alongside Kimi No Na Wa/Your Name. The manga just shouted out more to me and I found I enjoyed it that little more as you get more about the story from it, as well as learn more about the characters after the film ends. If you loved the anime, I recommend you go and read the manga as it’s so good!
So those are all my picks for my 2017 favourites! I could have picked so many more things, but I thought keeping it to a top 5 was for the best. π
What were your favourite things throughout 2017? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!
Until next time, take care all and I hope you had a lovely weekend.
It’s December and it’s definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas! This year I even have not one, but two advent calendars and I have work to thank for both of them!
November for me was a mixture of a shit month and an amazing month, the latter outweighing the two. As many of you may have read, I left my old job in retail/hospitality and joined my new job in admin! I’ve just wrapped up my third week and I am still loving it. I just can’t believe how quick those three weeks have gone and I am now well and truly into the Christmas spirit!
This past week though I have been so drained that blogging has sadly taken a back seat. Even my favourites post this month is late being written due to this, so I do apologise for my silence the past week. Blogging will be back on schedule after today, I promise.
For now it is time for me to do the first out of both my monthly posts, the first of course being my favourites!
Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel.
As soon as me and Dane got back from our holiday in October, I knew it was time to get the Snow Fairy out of stash of Lush goodies! I always buy in the Boxing Day sales or get gifted a massive bottle of this glorious pink goo every Christmas/Birthday and I always save it for when Christmas is upon us. It just reminds me of Christmas and the closer we get to Christmas, the more excited I get! This scent is just Lush to me. Although not Snow Fairy, The Godmother shared it’s scent with this and that was the first Lush product I ever bought, so that already has a close spot in my heart. I love this shower gel though, but I’m so gutted Lush discontinued the large 1kg bottle this year.
Lancome Miracle EDP.
I always forget that I own this perfume, until recently! This is an old perfume to be honest and one that is probably WAY out of date by now. I’ve owned it since Christmas 2012 when my brother bought it for me. It smells so strong and whilst this isn’t a bad thing, it’s definitely changed from what it once was. I decided a week ago that I would use up as many perfumes as possible and just re purchase ones that are my favourites, as well as any new ones I REALLY want. I have way too many perfumes and there’s only one of me. This is a gorgeous and strong EDP though and one that I can only highly recommend for women in their late 20’s and up as it’s a pretty mature scent.
LβOccitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
This hand cream is amazing and I always forget this. The day I started my new job I decided I would start using this again and my hands are so grateful for it. I don’t really use it throughout my shift, as I use another one but this has been helping my hands in the morning before I leave for work and if my hands are super dry. I still have my massive tube as well, which lasts FOREVER! Best hand cream for sure, always helps my eczema during the cold months.
MUA Lip Liner in shade Dark Thistle.
This is a lip liner that I bought to accompany and work with any raspberry pink lipsticks I own and to be honest whilst I LOVE wearing it with those, I especially love wearing it on it’s own with a bit of gloss or lip balm. This is pretty much how I’ve worn it the past couple of weeks and probably how I’ll continue to wear it! These lip liners only cost a Β£1 and not only do they last ages on their own, as well as with lipsticks but they’re also super comfortable to wear AND even come with their own sharpener. I definitely want to invest in picking up more of these.
Carmex Lip Balm in Cherry.
I picked this up for my holiday to Fuerteventura back in September and throughout the whole holiday I used this constantly, only to come home and not use it. I threw it into my handbag the first day of my new job and since then that is where it’s stayed. I use it all the time at work and due to my office being warm this melts a little which makes it so much easier to use than it usually is! You can apply loads of this and it really does keep my lips feeling moisturised and soft. I’ve heard that Carmex have brought out a sugar plum flavour, which I intend to pick up asap!
So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!
Favourite TV Show – The Sinner.
This is a show that Dane told me about ages ago and had found online for us to watch. I never watched it and neither did he. When we found out it would be on Netflix we jumped at the chance to watch it. We binge watched it in a mere matter of days and the story is amazing! I didn’t know it was based off of a novel until I was searching for the trailer above, but it honestly doesn’t surprise me! It’s a thriller about a woman who murders a man on a beach and no one knows why. You find out more about her past as well as present as the story goes on and it really does keep you on the edge of your seat. If you fancy something to binge watch like this, please watch! I’ve also linked about the main song of the show as it’s amazing and as soon as I finished watching the show I went to find it so I could download it!
Favourite Film – The Boy & The Beast.
I have literally just finished watching this film. For ages now Dane has been trying to get me to watch this and for ages I said, “Nah I don’t want to, I won’t enjoy it.” Well it just goes to show how well Dane really knows me, it would seem more than myself as I loved watching this film. I thought it was going to be full of karate and kung fu style stuff, which is wasn’t. That’s why I thought I wouldn’t like it! It’s by the same people as The Wolf Children, which is one of my favourite anime films, so I shouldn’t have been surprised that I loved this film. This is currently on Amazon Prime Video to watch as subbed.

Favourite Book – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Vol. 4.
I’VE STARTED READING AGAIN! I took some manga with me to work recently and actually read some, woohoo! It’s nice being able to get back into reading again as I’ve really missed it. It’s especially nice to have my lunch at my desk and read a manga. I have a feeling I’ve got some manga for Christmas this year so I need to make sure I read loads now before then to make sure I have time to read that too. π
Favourite Song/Album – Radio Bam.
If there’s one radio show (aside from any Tim Shaw has hosted!) I wish could come back, it’s Radio Bam, even if it came back as a podcast! I always forget how funny and random this show is and not only is the music amazing that Bam Margera plays throughout the shows, but the stories him and his guests (mostly the cKy guys) tell are so damn funny! Well, to me anyway. I’ve downloaded 100 episodes (there are 302 in total) and I’m currently listening to episode 17. The thing that made me think about downloading and listening to these again is the rush hour traffic I get stuck in on my way to work. I love listening to music on the way to work, but if I could listen to an episode of this instead, it would definitely make for an interesting change. I’ve popped up a funny moment above, I will say the show IS OFFENSIVE so this sort of thing won’t be for everyone, it is however for me, so sorry. π The clip above is definitely one of my favourites.

Favourite Game – Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Sims 4.
Oh man this month has been about ALL THE GAMES for me! Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp came out and if you don’t know it by now, I’m a HUGE Animal Crossing fan! I’ve played all the games so when Nintendo announced a phone game, I knew I’d fall in love. When it came out in Australia and I saw my friends in the UK playing it, I was insanely jealous. So when it finally came out recently I downloaded straight away and since then I’ve been addicted.
As well as that I’ve also been addicted to playing Sims 4. Me and Dane played the demo of it on the Xbox One and although we enjoyed playing it, we didn’t like the way it played on the console. During Black Friday we picked it up online for less than Β£20 and we don’t regret it one bit. We’ve played it loads since and will probably spend most of tomorrow playing it together in bed, as well as on Sunday!
Finally I finished The Fractured But Whole and oh my God what a fucking ending! Although I’m not 100% sure/keen about the game play in the second game, I definitely love the story so much more! You can really see why it was getting delayed for so long, the guys did an amazing job with it and now I can’t wait to play it all over again to try and get all the trophies, like a sad git I am! π
So those are my favourites from November! I can’t believe in 30 days we’ll be looking to start a New Year. This year has gone by way too fast, can time just stop for a little? π
What were your favourites from November? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!
Until next time all, take care and I hope you have a lovely weekend!
It’s definitely and rapidly becoming my favourite time of year! It’s getting darker earlier now, we get an “extra hour” in bed, Halloween was yesterday, Bonfire Night is over the weekend AND Christmas is going to be here before we know it.
It’s a new month, November at that which can only mean one thing, it’s time for a new favourites post. It also means Christmas is looming, AHH! π
Let’s just jump straight into this months favourites.
Hask Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shampoo.
I picked this shampoo up not long after I got back from holiday. I knew I was short of the Liz Earle shampoo I use so went to order some more, only to find out that Boots doesn’t appear to be stocking it anymore! I know I can get it elsewhere… But at Β£10 a bottle I wanted to try and pick something up a little lighter on my monies. This was definitely cheaper and it’s amazing for the price too! I’ve found it’s really helped my hair stay cleaner for longer, as well as look and feel soft and healthy. The Liz Earle one did too, but I just felt like it didn’t leave my hair feeling as clean as this one does! It also carries a gorgeous coconut scent which reminds me of Fuerteventura.
Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet EDT.
I’ve owned this perfume quite a while now and when I first bought it I loved it, but after a while I fell out of love with it… I found that whilst it smelt amazing, due to it being a toilette that the scent wouldn’t last as long as I wanted it to. This being said it’s also really nice to use a light perfume and it’s one I wore to work one day and it’s just stuck in my handbag since. I’ll probably end up switching it up soon, as I always tend to do, but I am trying to use up some of my older perfumes so I can make way for any new ones I wish to try.
Nails Inc Rainbow Wishes Nail Polish.
This is one part of the Unicorn Nail Polish Duo Kit and although I love both shades just as much, I prefer this one out of the two. I love wearing it on my weekends off of work as it looks so pretty without being over the top. I think I’ll wear this Bonfire Night alongside the other shade from the duo.
Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Paint in shade Pop Up (review here).
I haven’t worn my Barry M lip paints much since buying them, which is a shame as they’re actually amazing! My mental health hasn’t been too great towards the end of October so to try and cheer myself up I wore this shade quite a lot and I forgot what a gorgeous cherry red it is! I know I’m going to wear the hell out of it throughout the festive period!
Palmolive Gourmet Chocolate Shower Cream.
Ages ago when these shower creams first came out I made sure to stock up on them whilst the were a Β£1 each and after stocking up on those I bought LOADS of other shower cream/gel. Finally those are all gone and used and I can start using this amazing chocolate shower cream again. These are some of my favourite shower creams to use as they smell and even look like melted milk chocolate. Not only does it smell amazing but it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth all day long. I really recommend these shower creams in all of the scents!
So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!
Favourite TV Show – Stranger Things.
As many people will know season 2 of Stranger Things came out under a week ago and everyone has gone crazy for it, including me and Dane! As soon as it went live on Netflix me and Dane started to watch it. We got the new season completed in just 2 days and it is AMAZING! I didn’t know what to expect from watching the trailers and I didn’t really think much about it. Only when we watched it was I trying to constantly guess what was going on. At one point towards the end of the season I was shouting at the character(s), you know, as you do. π I just enjoyed it so much and I already can’t wait for season 3… Which sounds like it’s already been announced.
Favourite Film – The Anthem of the Heart (Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda).
This was a film Dane had told me about and we watched it one of the days in October. I can safely said I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and would gladly watch again! It’s about a girl who loves to talk and talks loads, which ends up getting her into some “trouble”. She is cursed after this and whenever she talks after she feels like she needs to be sick. From there she becomes part of a school project which involves music, which also seems to help her find her voice and start to talk again. I won’t say anymore as I don’t want to give anything away! It’s an amazing anime film and one you should watch if you love films such as A Silent Voice or Your Name.
Favourite Book – Erm…
I actually don’t know why I have this option on here anymore as I don’t seem to read these days! I feel bad for not reading, but I feel like all I do lately is write my blog, watch random films and shows and play games. Reading hasn’t really factored into it lately. I really want to start reading manga again however! I have loads of K-ON! that I need to read! November will definitely be the month of starting to read again. π
Favourite Song/Album – Saliva – Back Into Your System
This is an album I actually listened to earlier on in the week when driving my car and I always forget how much I love it. It’s by far one of my favourite albums and whenever I listen to it it cheers me up so much. I’ve had a crappy couple of months recently so to listen to this album before and even after some good news it’s made me very happy. This is the song that introduced me to Saliva and due to that it’s my favourite of theirs, as well as from this album.
Favourite Game – South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
I can’t believe how long I had to wait for this game to come out, but it has definitely been worth it! I’m surprised I haven’t finished it yet to be honest but this is due to various reasons, Netflix being the main one. π It’s nothing like the first game in my opinion and if anything it’s way better! There just feels like there’s more to do and it already feels like there’s more game play as well which is amazing. I just can’t wait to finish it! I intend to play loads Friday when I finish work as well as over the weekend.
So those were my favourites from October! I still can’t believe we’re into November now, the year is still going by way too quickly and it creeps me out.
Not only is Christmas and New Year next month, but my birthday will be the month after and I can’t believe I’ll be 28!
I’m excited for all those things to come however! So what were your favourites from October? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!
Until next time, take care all and I hope you had an awesome Halloween.
Wow as if it’s October! At this point in time it is now less than 100 days until Christmas… Crazy, huh? I’ll have to start my Christmas shopping VERY soon!
As with my September favourites I’m writing this post before I go on holiday and DAYUM IT’S HARD! I don’t actually know what I have on my wish list right now really… I’m sure I can find some goodies to add to this list, eh? π
EDIT – I soon found stuff that I had forgotten were coming out this month!
American Horror Story Collar Dress – Β£41.99 (link)
This is a dress I actually wish I had bought before going on holiday, even though I doubt I would have worn it there. I was eyeing up this dress before I’d even started watching AHS due to the cute Wednesday Addams style to it. From what I’ve seen on images and video this dress looks thick and well worth the money! It’s actually a part of the AHS collection that came out exclusively for Hot Topic, but it would seem that EMP have a partnership (of sorts…) with Hot Topic as they both sometimes stock the same stuff. I’ll be buying this when I’m back from holiday for sure! I’ll love wearing it with my Dr Martens boots and my red coat.
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Vol. 4 Manga – Β£7.88 (link)
This is one of my favourite mangas that I have discovered (thanks to the anime, which I love just as much!) and I always wait patiently for a new volume of the manga to come out. The next one has come out so quickly and it almost feels like it’s crept up really… Either way I’ll be ordering this when I’m home from my holiday. I need to really catch up with my manga!
JennifairyW Flareon and Vaporeon Charms – Β£4.00 each (link) and (link)
After writing my blog post about JennifairyW last month I KNEW I had to add these to my wish list this month. I really want to get at least one of these and I can see me swaying for picking up one each of these two. I’ll probably opt for the Flareon which is sitting down (on the left) and the Vaporeon which is standing up (one on the right). This being said I love both the Vaporeon ones equally! I’ll see how I feel when I’m back from holiday. I may end up leaving some of these as little present ideas for Dane… Christmas is lurking and I know both me and Dane like to get Christmas presents ordered as soon as we can… π
Pokemon Indigo League DVD Box Set – Β£39.99 (link)
I know you can watch the Pokemon Indigo League series on Netflix BUT they don’t have all the episodes on there! Well they never when I was watching it anyway… This is a series I have been waiting to buy for years now, so even though I probably won’t pick this up at the end of the month, it’ll definitely be on my Christmas list. π Who can say no to some 90’s/00’s feels? π
American Horror Story Evan Tank – Currently Β£14.99 (link)
I mentioned in my September favourites post a couple of days that me and Dane have recently started binge watching AHS and how much we love it. So far my favourite character is Tate from season 1 and to be honest if I can get a t-shirt with his face on, I will! I doubt I’d wear this out though. It’d be for chilling around the house in. I’m not really someone who suits tank tops to be honest. Unless I bought this in a size that’s a bit too big for me and wear it with leggings… Meh I don’t know! We shall see! π
South Park: The Fracture But Whole – Β£44.99 (link)
This is a game that I have been so excited for since it was announced in 2015. I’ve been waiting an anxious 2 years for this game and I’m sure twice they’ve delayed it because Matt Stone and Trey Parker weren’t happy with it. I’m glad they’ve not just released the game to keep fans happy. It looks amazing to be fair and I’ll be getting it on the PS4. I’ll definitely be binge playing this like I have been with Persona 5 (which I should have finished by the time this post goes live…).
I know my wish list this month isn’t anything amazing, but I find that one month I want loads of shit and then another month I don’t. I would have added the Dr Martens from last months post here but I can’t really put them in again! π After the holiday I doubt I’ll be buying much for a while. I want to try and save some money for Christmas now.
What items do you have on your wish lists right now? Make sure to let me know in the comments!
Until next time, take care all and I hope youβre having a great week so far! I’ll be back in the UK tomorrow… Sad times. π
I just want to start this post off by throwing it out there that the title and original idea for this post was for back to school, not education. Then I realised that it’s not just kids and teenagers who get to have fun buying funky stationary, older teenagers and young adults get to as well!
September is by far one of my favourite months of the year and I’ve explained on various different posts over the years why. It just feels like a fresh start to me. It’s when you started a new year at school, college and university. Hey! It’s even when many start their first years at these places and you want to always leave a good impression to the others in your year and classes.
I remember in August as a kid my mom taking me to the stationary shops to pick up some new bits for school. It was always an exciting time! New books, scented gel pens and a fluffy pencil case and I was ready!
Things haven’t changed either, with 90’s trends making a comeback in fashion AND stationary we now have so much funky stuff to feast our eyes upon again! There’s holographic, fluffy, unicorn and even Hello Kitty and Pokemon! Talk about bringing back some nostalgia!
Today I am very tired from a night of awesome drinking and talking with my friend Jacqui, her boyfriend Chris and of course Dane. I didn’t want to write anything at all today. I’m not hungover, but I’m very tired and lethargic. Urgh!
BUT I was scrolling through the internet and decided to do this post. The summer holidays are coming to a close and whether you’re returning or even starting a new year of education, here’s so funky stationary ideas for you to have a look at! π P.S. Pray for me that I feel better by bed time. π
Oh by the way, this post won’t contain things you’ll need such as special equipment for maths, art, science, etc. This is just the bog standard necessities. π
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Ruled Journal – Β£12.99 (link)
Now, although I am not a Harry Potter fan myself (sorry guys…) I know a lot of people who are, young and old! I find journals to be great not only for use as a notebook for classes, but also for personal too if you want to get any thoughts written down on paper. Although I’m not a Harry Potter fan this journal looks gorgeous and is definitely one that would get a conversation started for any Potter fan who would see it. It’s not cheap however, so this is a journal for something a little more special.
This pencil case was mostly added for nostalgia. I remember when South Park came out and everyone and I mean EVERYONE went mad for it! Then WHSmith brought out some pencil cases for it and all the boys in my year had one at some point or another. I wanted one, but they were forever sold out in my local store. This is definitely more for guys but sod it, girls can pull this off just as much! I don’t think this is anything huge either which is always good if you have a small bag.
Who doesn’t love gel pens eh? Especially scented ones! These aren’t scented but they’re Hello Kitty… What more do you want?! I always found different coloured gel pens to be great to use on certain projects and I’d like to say during revision too… I was one of these stupid kids who didn’t revise… How I would have been if I was as level headed then as I am now… π
This is actually a notebook I really want to get for myself… But I won’t because I have WAYYYY TOO MANY! This is a notebook for the more older members of education who may read this post. It reminds me of the notebooks they have over the pond… You know the black and white ones that EVERY SINGLE high schooler owns and uses to write secrets in. ANYWAY! This is gorgeous and would be great to use as a notebook for a certain lecture or class.
Yes, another notebook. BUT it has a fox on it and you know I love my foxes! I used to own a phone case with this same fox design on, which I adored! It’s just a bog standard notebook really, which you could use for classes or personal. I’d probably end up using it for classes. I find that when you have a really nice and funky notebook for classes, lectures or even at home for notes you just feel good opening it up to jot stuff down.
If I had to have a favourite item on this list, I’d say this is it. As you all know I LOVE anything holographic, turquoise and mermaid themed. This just ticks all those boxes for me and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t at all want to buy it… π It’s a gorgeous turquoise pencil case with a fish scale sort of texture to it. This definitely reminds me of something the “cool kids” at school would have used. Either that or a fluffy pencil case! WHSmith have loads of these sorts of pencil cases available, with quite a lot of them selling out. So if you like the look of these sort of cases, get on there (or even in store) pronto!
I LOVE Pusheen and I have a feeling that if I had been a kid when Pusheen first came out, I would have saved up my pocket money ready for when school shopping came around to buy EVERYTHING I could! I remember in my last years of secondary school I used an A4 pad of lined paper inside of a ringbinder for when I jotted notes down. I don’t know how I did it to be fair, as years later I attempted to do that again when studying my MA and I HATED IT. Folders are really handy to have, especially during GCSE’s, but it’s always better to have a cute one.
What Would A Mermaid Do Prediction Pen – Β£8.00 (link)
Holy shit. I randomly found this obviously whilst researching for this post and I hesitated adding it at first as I thought it seemed so daft. I just couldn’t resist though. It’s so dumb but also so funny! If you love mermaid related stuff this pen is for you and the younger you are, the more you can get away with having it. π It’s not cheap at Β£8.00 however, but it’s just such a novelty! Definitely something to cheer you up when you’re feeling down.
Gemma Correll Unicorn Pencil Case – Β£12.95 (link)
I love Gemma Correll’s designs and in the past I’ve bought and used her stationary items! I still to this day own my ringbinder I bought and now use it to house adult documents in, because I’m now a motherfucking adult. π I saw this pencil case and knew it needed a place on this list. I’ve got a couple of mermaid items, so a unicorn has to be part of the mix too! This isn’t cheap but it is a brand and it’s massive too! This would especially be good for an art student.
I remember when I was at university in my final year I was organised as fuck. I bought some post it notes, expecting to use them seriously and in the end I used them as a way to piss about so that I didn’t have to do any work on Β my dissertation… I got a 2:1 on it and overall so it’s not like they affected my mark. π They were boring though, so whenever I see funny or funky post it notes I wish they had been around when I was studying. These made me laugh so much! I may have to buy them for the office and blog related work. π
Smiggle is notorious for their scented stationary, even their pencil cases! It’s cool but I do wonder if they’ve overstepped the mark just a tad… I always give stuff a smell on the rare occasions that I pop in however. I have looked at these scented pencils in the past and it just makes me wish I was at school again! I’d have definitely bought the banana ones.
Again another scented item from Smiggle and one I just couldn’t leave out of this list. I was always a sucker for cute little erasers as a kid and I still remember to this day my mom bought me some puppy ones for when I started year 1. I couldn’t bear to use the one as it was just too cute. I’m pretty sure it’s still in my room at home somewhere! These little erasers are just adorable and I especially love that they come in a little plastic tub so you can keep them nice and smelling strong before using them.
So those were my picks for what you could buy for going back to education with. This list was definitely aimed more at a younger audience, but if you’re an adult who loves anything cute and kawaii then this list is totally for you too!
What items would you suggest people to pick up? Please leave links down below! I’m forever on the hunt for cute stationary!
I said at the start of this post that I hope I feel better when it’s finished, and you know what? I actually do feel better! I’m off to spend the rest of my Sunday chilled on the sofa with Dane.
Until next time, take care all and have an awesome bank holiday Monday tomorrow!
So E3 2017 has come and gone and me and Dane made sure to tune in whenever we could, missing only two live shows, which we caught up on the next day.
I’ve never watched E3 so religiously before and only ever tuning into the conferences and talks after they’ve been live. It was pretty awesome to be honest cuddling with Dane to tune into the talks and at some points we even chatted to our friend Lee via Xbox Live whilst watching the Microsoft talked. We have now both said it will be a tradition to watch E3 every year.
BUT enough of that, let’s talk about what games we’re excited for and what we thought about E3 overall!
I’ll go first! I was tempted to try to do a top 5, but that shit isn’t going to happen. I may only want a select few but Dane wants loads of games… And I can’t say I blame him. π
I have to be honest and say my favourite conference out of all of them had to be a mixture of Ubisoft and Sony, I sway more towards Ubisoft however due to two of their announcements.
I am a huge South Park fan and have been eagerly awaiting for The Fractured But Whole to come out. I’ve been waiting a year longer than expected in the first place too due to Ubisoft pushing the release date back since late 2016. A new release date has been announced though AND Ubisoft showed off another trailer for the game!
The game play and story looks like it has completely changed from the one at E3 2016. I had heard rumours that Trey Parker and Matt Stone weren’t happy with how the story was going so scraped what they had and started all over again. Although I get pissed off with having to wait for the game to come out, I am grateful that Parker and Stone want what’s best for the fans. They’ve never worked so closely with game companies when South Park games have come out in the past and they’ve commented how they regret it due to how poor they turned out. As usual from the gameplay being shown and played at E3, the guys never fail to be rude and crude and make me piss myself laughing. The footage I’ve watched is set in a strip club! You even have to do a strip dance mini game and your just constantly farting on the guys crotch. NICE! The graphics look so much better than The Stick of Truth which already makes me really happy! It just runs smoother. I’m never ever arsed about that sort of stuff either. Like the first game your character doesn’t talk and is fully customise-able. The battles are completely different now from how they used to be. You still take it in turns to fight your enemies but you can move all around the area now to attack people, which I think is pretty cool! It also looks like you’ll be able to play alongside more characters than before which is exciting! I really can’t wait for this Β game and closer to the release date I’ll be pre-ordering it.
South Park fans were spoilt though as after The Fractured But Whole we were given the above trailer for Phone Destroyer, which is obviously a phone game. I’m just so damn excited for what this game will bring! I’ve been after a decent game to mong out and play on my phone for ages, and alas it’s finally here!
One of the first games that was announced and I was excited for was Life Is Strange Before The Storm. I LOVED Life Is Strange when it came out and I was addicted to it for a while. I loved it so much that after playing it on Dane’s Xbox I ended up buying it to play on my PS4 too. This game is a prequel to the first and follows Chloe three years before the first game and won’t contain time travel, that’s Max’s thing. We follow Chloe after her dad has died in the car accident and basically from what I can tell, how she’s dealing with it and becomes who she is when she is reunited with Max. We see her befriend Rachel and if anyone else is like me when playing Life Is Strange, I was constantly asking myself, “What the fuck happened with Chloe and Rachel? Are they lovers? Or was Chloe being clingy due to what happened to her dad and thought it was more than what it was?” I’m really excited to find out all about Rachel though as she felt like a main character in Life Is Strange even though she wasn’t existent. From what I have gathered so far though from the gameplay she heavily influenced Chloe to become the person she was when Max saw her.Β We will find out in the prequel all about Rachel though! FYI this is not the second Life Is Strange, that is currently in development. I’m so damn excited for this game though and I WILL be getting it on PS4!
Holy shit this is a game I have been excited for for as long as I can remember now. Quantic Dream are the people behind Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, which are both two of my favourite games! They work exclusively with Sony and PlayStation, which in turn makes me happy as I’m a PlayStation girl at heart. π Detroit: Become Human was announced a couple of years ago and since then has been worked on! I was really hoping for a release date to be announced after the trailer was shown at E3 this year, but sadly we still haven’t been given a date. From what I can gather from gameplay footage and trailers you play as various different droids who are trying to (as the name suggests) become human. They use their abilities to free the droids who aren’t able to control their abilities and basically make the world between them and human equal and fair. It looks amazing to be honest and the story behind it sounds unique and full of twists and secrets, like the previous games really. To think this game only started off as a way for Quantic Dream to show off what they were doing after Beyond: Two Souls. I’m so glad they decided to go with it though.
Do I really have to talk much about this game? It’s definitely one of my favourites that Microsoft announced during their conference. It’s a new game, Super Lucky’s Tale and it’s coming out towards the end of the year, only to Xbox One. It reminds me of Spyro and you know what? I REALLY miss games like that. I wish people would bring them back, and I’m hoping that this is just the start. It’s also equally appealing to me due to the main character being a cute little fox! I cannot wait to get this when it comes out! A part of me hopes it’s co-op so me and Dane can play it together, but I highly doubt that!
I don’t recall watching the trailer for this at first and due to that Dane was confused whenever he mentioned it to me and I didn’t get excited. “Nat you will want Ooblets!” he kept saying to me over and over again. He popped the trailer on to refresh my memory and I knew straight away that he was right, I would want it. It reminds me of Animal Crossing to be honest… But not as good as Animal Crossing will always have a warm spot in my heart. This will be on the Xbox One so that’ll be the platform of choice for playing this cute game.
Now that I’ve spoken about some of my highlights from E3 2017 it’s now Dane’s turn to take over the rest of the post and talk about his thoughts on the games announced this year, as well as the new Xbox One X.
From the looks of it I will be going against the grain with the populous and say I was and still am pumped from E3. Peoples excited reactions from this years E3 seems to have fizzled out and there are even some people who found this year to be wholly underwhelming. I completely disagree.
First things first is the elephant in the Microsoft shaped room with their new console.
It actually took me approximately 2 years into the Xbox One’s life before I made the transition from the Xbox 360 and I am glad I made the jump. I had serious reservations and complaints about the way Microsoft were handling their launch of the One and did not think it was worth my time and money. Since then they have gone back on many of their plans and with the announcement of the Scorpio (development name of the X) they have rebuilt my faith in Microsoft.
The best thing to do is watch the video above to find out about the specifications but it is all POWER!
In terms of games though there are way too many for me to list here so I will copy in the Xbox game showcase.
Natalee has already mentioned her big ones she’s excited for and I too am also excited for those games, particularly Ooblets and South Park: FBW but she has already spoken of them so I won’t say anymore. For me there is really just too many to discuss and I will most likely forget about some things but I will try to pick a few things out to share my excitement.
Crackdown 3. JUMPING, SHOOTING, THROWING and BLOWING SHIT UP.
The multiplayer for this game will be where it’s at. Making the most of the power of their Azure servers Crackdown is hoping to cause citywide destruction in an online environment. What can I say? I like blowing stuff up… and Terry Crews. NUFF SAID.
Player Unknowns: Battlegrounds is one I never expected to come to Xbox exclusively. I don’t have a PC good enough (yet) to play many games like this. I have always wanted to play a survival/arena game with my friends but the consoles are very limited with what you have available so this is a welcome treat. Here is the trailer from E3:
Sea of Thieves is one more multiplayer game that I have had on my watch list since it was first announced a while back. Open world, multiplayer pirating. There is not really anything more to say. Well, I should also mention it is a Rare (the developer) game who have a brilliant development record until Microsoft bought them out and forced them to do Kinect games. So hopefully this is a return to form for Rare which I am truly excited to go plunder with my friends when it is released.
Anthem was a surprise showing at E3, others may have been expecting a new IP from Bioware but I most certainly was not. This game was gorgeous and also online coop. This is one I am definitely keeping my eye on. I don’t really know much more than it is a 3rd person RPG in power suits. It looks good, take a look!
That’s the main ones from the Xbox conference that made me excited, I just can’t wait till November! I could talk forever about all the games on show so I have really tried to limit myself, but a few honorable mentions are:
Black Desert – Online RPG that looks pretty epic.
The Last Night – Funky retro adventure game akin to the original Flashback.
Cuphead – Bullet hell platformer in the style of the old-timey cartoons.
Ashen – Dark and desperate RPG.
Deep Rock Galactic – Mining with friends!
I am only going to really talk in detail about three more games. Two from the EA conference and one from the Playstation conference.
So first let’s go for the interesting epic that is Days Gone from the Playstation conference. Zombies may be overdone but this really overdoes it in a good way. SO MANY FUCKING ZOMBIES. It actually makes the zombie scary again, not like Dead Rising where the sheer amount is awesome but they are just cannon fodder to have fun with, but a true zombie horde.
I wasn’t so impressed with the Sony conference as much, put that down to me being a fanboy but this year it just wasn’t there for me. There are some games I know I am excited for but there just wasn’t enough for me. Here’s a few honorable mentions:
God of War – An epic story about a gratuitously violent beefcake with a child.
Spiderman – Shame its PS4 Exclusive! No achievements for me on my Xbox. π¦
Shadow of the Colossus (Remake) – Never played the original but damn I want to play this.
EA had a massive show, second only to Microsoft. One of their new and VERY intriguing announcements was their split-screen adventure A Way Out.
Games and their developers seem have forgotten what it means to play with your friends. You may have noticed the majority of my highlights are largely multiplayer, but these are mostly online multiplayer. Gone are the days of playing on the couch with your friends sharing a tiny little CRT TV. A Way Out says fuck that and forces you to play with someone and share the screen regardless of where you are. The story is there too.
Finally from EA is this.
I can safely say both Natalee and I are extremely excited for this. I had the first one and it did not live up to the hype. Yes it was one of the best looking games but there was no substance. EA have promised a single player campaign, free dlc and ALL THREE TRILOGIES. I cannot wait to be playing as the clone troopers in the frostbite 3 engine. The thought makes me moist with anticipation.
YAY after days of asking Dane to write his part of this post, he’s finally done it! π I can safely say I am so damn excited for both Days Gone and Star Wars: Battlefront 2. They’re both going to be amazing games! Spiderman is also one I was surprised to see as a PS4 exclusive! This makes me really happy of course due to being a Playstation gamer. The gameplay for it was gorgeous and obviously is steps above games from back in the PS1 days, but it reminded me of the Spiderman game from back in the day. I loved that game so much and would spend hours after school playing it.
I cannot wait for November to come now so we can play new games together, as well as with our gaming friends Lee and Sam!
What were your highlights from E3 this year? Make sure to let me know in the comments, as well as over at Twitter @maybeecoffee ^_^
Until next time all, take care! I hope you’re enjoying the gorgeous weather, I know we are.
