It’s only a couple more days until Christmas now and I still don’t know if I’m even in the Christmas spirit yet… You know? I don’t know what it’s been this year, I think I’ve just been far too busy with work and in general to get festive. That or I’m just getting to be an old Grinch… š
I’m trying to get into the Christmas spirit though so today I’m bringing a collab post to you all! Me and Sarah over at Raiin Monkey decided to do another collab post for Christmas again! We did last year and I loved it so much, so much so I knew we had to work together again to bring you our posts today.
Sarah’s going to write about how to make your home geeky this Christmas and I’m going to write how to make your dinner table geeky for Christmas Day!
I’m having Christmas dinner at home for the first time this year, so I’m rather excited to cook for me and Dane! This geeky dinner table guide from myself will be handy if like me this is also your first Christmas at home where you’re having dinner. š
I really hope you enjoy this geek related Christmas post! š
Personally I love coffee, but I has espresso. It just isn’t for me. I do understand some people do really like it though and especially love to have it after a meal. I don’t know anyone who has had an espresso after a Christmas meal to be honest with you, but I know there’s someone out there who does it… There has to be! Maybe you’re one of those people? If so these espresso mugs will be right up your street! Hey! If you don’t use them for espresso, they’ll make great glasses for some strong liquor to go into, such as Bailey’s or maybe some Jack Daniels or Disaronno. I’d certainly go for the latter. š
Geeki Tikis Mugs Marvel Deadpool and Star Wars R2-D2 – (link) and (link)
I LOVE these Geeki Tiki mugs so much and they’d make a great addition to your home all year around, as well as Christmas. If you love making cocktails like I do, these will be perfect throughout Christmas Day! When I lived at home I’d always make me and mom a pina colada each to drink throughout the day. These geeky tiki mugs would be perfect for that, as well as other cocktails and beverages! There’s loads of mugs to choose from but the two I love the most are Deadpool and R2-D2.
Star Wars Shadow Trooper Bluetooth Speaker – (link)
As much as I’ve had enough of Christmas music now (after hearing every single possible Christmas song thanks to Magic FM…) I’m pretty much done for a couple of years now. š However, I know a lot of people like to have Christmas music on throughout Christmas Day. Me and Dane have an Amazon Echo now so if we want some music on throughout the day we can just ask Alexa, however now everyone has that luxury. This Shadow Trooper speaker is pretty damn cool and even if you don’t have this for yourself in the house, it would also make an amazing gift for any music lover! You can have this on near the dinner table and listen to as much cheesy Christmas music as you want. š
Shaun Of The Dead Winchester Tavern Pint Bottle Opener – (link)
I am a MASSIVE fan of Shaun Of The Dead! It reminds me of when I was a teenager and studying my GCSE’s! When I lived at home we were always losing or misplacing our bottle opener and like most people on Christmas, we all drink a LOT of alcohol! This is just a cool and quirky bottle opener, not even so much geeky to be fair but I really like it.
Star Wars Stormtrooper Cheeseboard and Knife Set – (link)
Who doesn’t love some cheese on Christmas? Or anytime of year in fact! š I remember last Christmas Dane’s family having a bit of a cheese selection after dinner, where I remember me eating all of the Applewood, because Applewood chedder is the God of chedder. š This cheeseboard is pretty amazing as it looks gorgeous and inside it has loads of different edible tools for cheese. It’s just perfect for any geeky Christmas table!
I was so close to buying these a week ago when I popped into Nostalgia Comics in Birmingham town centre! I love Deadpool and having Deadpool themed things in my house is always something good to have. š These aren’t over the top but will stand out on the table for Christmas dinner and the good thing is these can be used all year around too. I know some people who have Christmas themed salt and pepper shakers and it’s just pointless for one day really.
Finally we have a Pokemon item on this list! I thought I would have had loads of Pokemon items on here for Christmas but could I find much? Could I bugger! The reason this cake pan is included in here is because I know not everyone likes Christmas pudding, myself included in there. I’m thinking of making some chocolate brownies Christmas Eve ready for Christmas Day. If I had it my way I’d make a chocolate cake using this Pikachu cake pan. š It’s just so adorable and you could do so much with it come Christmas Day.
So there you have it, all my ideas of how you can geek up your table on Christmas Day! I know they’re not the best suggestions in the world, but they’re my suggestions and the best I could find so close to Christmas to be fair. š
Do you think you’ll geek up your table for Christmas Day? I don’t know if me and Dane will. We have a funky table cloth and some napkins, but that’s about it so far.
Again I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Sarah for collaborating with me again! She’s one of my best friends of the blogging world and I do love her so much. š
Are you ready for Christmas? Let me know in the comments what your plans are for Christmas and how you intend to spend the day!
Until next time all, take care and I hope you’re ready for the weekend, I know I am after a long and busy week of work. š
Hey everyone! Iām Sarah and I blog over at Raiin Monkey (and I suck at introductions, haha!). In celebration of the festive period and all things geeky, Natalee & I have planned a series of Christmas gift guides for our fellow geeks, one each for guys and for girls! I am so happy to be doing a collaboration with Nat because her blog is one of my absolute favourites! Today, Iām sharing some ideas on what you can get your geeky guy loved ones for Christmas, focusing on stocking fillers for those of you who might be on a budget. Head over to my blog to check out Natās awesome gift guide for geeky girls! I hope you all enjoy reading and that I give you lots of ideas & inspiration š
Iāve decided to share my wishlist in two separate parts, the first showing presents that are Ā£10 or under each, and the second for those between Ā£10-Ā£20. Iāve also sourced everything from UK websites so that if you order after reading, your items will arrive in time for Christmas (plus it keeps down those pesky postage & packaging costs that we all hate!)
1UP 600ml Gaming Flask (link) This super cute 1UP water bottle fashioned after the Super Mario Brothers game franchise is on sale at only Ā£1.99 when it was originally Ā£6.99 and I thought that this was an absolute bargain not to be missed! Itās a really handy item to have, especially when youāre on a gaming streak and havenāt moved for hours, haha. Gotta stay hydrated!
Marvellous Mopeez Deadpool Plush (link) Who doesnāt love a cuddly plush!? Even if itās just to display, these awesome collectible plush toys by Funko make a great stocking filler. Funko products are always made to a great quality, and Iāve had my eyes on a few Mopeez plushies myself for a while now. Thereās lots of other characters available too if your geeky guy isnāt a big fan of Deadpool. Check out the Forbidden Planet website too because they have loads (see here).
Official Nintendo SNES Controller Poster (link) I just thought that this poster looked awesome and would also look really nice in a frame too! Itās only Ā£3.99 so even on a budget, you should be able to find a cheap framed poster in a pound store⦠just remove whatever poster is inside and add this one instead. Voila! You have yourself a nice framed poster for your gamer loved ones! It looks great without a frame too to just display as wall art.
Official Nintendo Super Mario Badge Pack (link) I personally think these badge sets are brilliant! This Super Mario one from Blue Banana has 25% off at the moment, so you get five badges for just Ā£2.99. They are so bright and colourful, and would look great on a jacket or a backpack. They come on an awesome-looking presentation card, which is nice and are small enough to pack into a stocking. Badge sets are another gift that cater for so many different interests because thereās so much variety available! Blue Banana are selling 20+ different badge sets at the moment, all for the same fabulous price.
Star Wars Episode VII Stormtrooper Pen & Case Set (link) Is your geeky loved one a sci-fi fan? If so, then this pen set would make a wonderful stocking filler for them! As the item description says, āMay the force be with you (and your stationery collection)!ā haha. Everyone needs pens, and these stormtrooper ones come with a fancy case to store them, which makes them easy to carry about too.
Funko Pop! Vinyl Keyring: DBZ Goku (link) How cool is this little Goku from Dragon Ball Z!? I really love these Pocket Pop! keyrings; I have a Daryl Dixon one myself and I was really impressed with all the detail that went into such a small figure. Everyone loves a Pop vinyl figure, but not everyone has room spare to fill with boxes, so these tiny guys are the next best alternative!
Funko Mystery Mini Star Wars Blind Box (link) Hereās another gift for the lovers of science fiction! Everyone likes a surprise and unwrapping Christmas gifts are all the surprise you need, but imagine finding yet another surprise underneath all that shiny festive paper! That, in my opinion, would make anyone delighted, so why not look into getting a Mystery Mini blind box for your loved ones this year! Inside these Star Wars edition boxes, you can reveal one of 15 figures, and they are bobble heads too!!
Below is the second part to my geeky guys Christmas gift guide, intended for those of you who are still trying to budget but donāt necessarily want to get the smaller types of stocking fillers š
Mini Desktop Arcade Machine (link) This product seriously sounds so so fabulous! Itās a mini gaming machine that is portable, has a colour screen and is packed with 240 retro arcade games!! You could keep it on your desk at home or at work, and I am definitely very tempted to get one for myself! IWOOT are also offering free delivery for any items over Ā£10 too, so you can save money to pick up some batteries for this perfect gift for your gamer friends & family.
Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure: Aquaman (link) Did your geeky loved one enjoy the recent Justice League movie? Is he a fan of DC comics in general? How about getting him a Pop Vinyl figure? I might be a little biased because I am a Pop! collector but I think they are super awesome and have such cool designs. I mean, just look at all the colour detailing on Aquamanās armour! There are a variety of other Pop figures available at UK store, A1 Toys if you want to look for a character from another fandom š
I recently discovered a fantastic deal over on the My Geek Box UK website, 3 gifts for Ā£20! The next three items that Iāve featured on my geeky gift guide are examples of the kinds of gifts that this special offer includes. Firstly, we have a multi-port USB hub (find here) that is designed to resemble a Super Nintendo controller, which I really like! Itās a very useful gift for anyone whoās a gamer or a tech geek. Another item includes this awesome novelty Batman egg cup and logo toast cutter. Itās a comical and handy present that most geeky guys will enjoy, unless they donāt like eggs! The last item Iāve picked out is a Star Wars Lightsaber Colour Changing mug! I LOVE these heat-reactive mugs, they are wonderful!
Official HBO Game of Thrones Diagonal Sigil T-Shirt (link) Weāve come to the last present idea on my geeky guys gift guide! Clothes are always a good present to get, especially if you know what your loved ones are into but arenāt sure exactly what kind of gifts they would enjoy. This t-shirt caught my eye because of how vibrant and eye-catching the sigil designs on the front are. I think they are brilliant and I love how HBO have even incorporated the different Stark, Targaryen and Lannister house words/mottos into the design too. Very cool and Iām sure any Game of Thrones fan will love this gift!
I hope that youāve all enjoyed reading my gift guide and that it gave you some inspiration on what to buy for the geeky guys in your life this Christmas. This Saturday, me & Nat will have more geeky gift guides up so be sure to keep your eyes out for those š Donāt forget to head over to my blog to read Natās gift guide for geeky girls. Have a fabulous Christmas Time everybody! Weād love to hear all about what you think of the items weāve included and also if youāve bought any; please let us know your thoughts in the comments š
I just want to say a massive thank you to Sarah for agreeing to collab with me for Christmas! I was so excited to ask her, so the fact that she agreed to it made me so damn happy! We have another awesome Christmas gift guide coming up on our blogs on Saturday, so keep your eyes peeled for those!
Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having an awesome week so far.
It’s only a week until Christmas now and although myself and Dane have finished our Christmas shopping I know of a lot of people who probably haven’t even started yet! My parents for example leave their Christmas shopping until the last minute.
SO this Christmas ideas list will be handy if you’re like them! This list will cater to men, women, children, and teenagers.
Zoella On My Travels Back Pack – Ā£50.00 *currently Ā£30.00* (link)
This is a great present idea for a woman of any age but I would say this is more for a teenager or student, especially if they’re a fan of the YouTube star Zoella, who has teamed up with Boots this year to create some lovely gifts for Christmas. Inside this gorgeous grey backpack you get a ceramic takeaway cup for those hot drinks, a keyring for your keys and some pencils. You can’t really go wrong with something like this. Hell I’d love it but I have enough bags to last me a lifetime. š
This is the perfect gift for anyone who loves Star Wars, but I would say more so for your boyfriend, brother or even your dad. It’s a decanter which you can pop any alcoholic choice in. I was going to get one of these for Dane and fill it with Jack Daniels, but I left it. BUT you don’t have to fill this with alcohol! You could always buy some cheap battery operated fairy lights and put them into the decanter, leaving the on and off switch outside. This was another idea I had for Dane for Christmas, but again I left it. May have to do it though now as he loves this.
Lush Rudy and Pip Gift Set – Ā£11.95 each (link) & (link)
Look how adorable these two little gift sets are! These will make lovely last minute gifts for children and even secret Santa gifts. My favourite of the two is Rudy. If you want to get one or even both of these though you will have to hurry as Lush run out of things like this super quickly as Christmas grows closer.
Who doesn’t like to get a mug for Christmas? Or any occasion for that matter! I have eyed this mug up myself many times over December so far but I don’t really need anymore mugs… BUT this would make a great addition to any Pokemon fans cupboard, or even their desk at work! Yeah it’s Christmas themed, but sod that, I’d use it all year around. š
Chocolate & Peanut Butter Cupcake In A Mug – Ā£9.99 (link)
It’s funny because I’ve actually bought this mug for Dane for Christmas as he spotted it in Lakeland last night and really liked it. It’s also a present he’s received early which is kinda nice. On the mug there is a guide and ingredients as to how to make a chocolate and peanut butter cupcake in the microwave,Ā which Dane really liked. So this is a definite mug for anyone you know who doesn’t just love cake, but loves anything chocolate and peanut butter flavoured. It also makes an amazing mug for big cups of coffee!
I LOVE Pusheen and although I wouldn’t be bothered about receiving something like this, I know a lot of little girls who would! I loved when I was bought my first coin purse as a little girl. I was able to keep my pennies in there for sweeties and pound shop treats. Pusheen is starting to become a more known thing in the UK now after being out in America for agggges and little girls go crazy for her. So why not get a lovely little coin purse and pop some silver in there for good luck. š
I LOVE hotties and I recently bought myself a new one, as well as buying one of my best friends one for Christmas. They’re a lovely gifts to receive for Christmas due to how cold it is, as well as in general! I bought my friend Jacqui hers as it was Gromit, who she loves! But also because I know she would appreciate the warmth of it. I love mine because I like to snuggle it when I have bad period pain, or in bed and on the sofa if I’m chilly and need something to warm me up a little bit. These are great for anyone of any age and you can pick so many different varieties and animals up which is great!
This a cheesy Christmas gift, but a nice one if you’re stuck for ideas on what to get a male secret Santa, boyfriend, brother or your dad. I’ve bought these for Dane as his feet are always cold, I wanted something nice/cheesy for him to wear Christmas day and he wanted them! They have cute little bells on which jingle as you walk and some support on the soles so that you won’t slip on wooden flooring (which is handy in our house seeing as all downstairs is wooden floor!). I am just so excited for him to wear these Christmas!
So those are just some of my ideas for some quick last minute Christmas presents! There are hundreds more I could have added to be honest. Check out Boots for some good ideas, as well as your local supermarkets! M&S had a 50% off gifts sale recently, which I’m sure is still on so that is definitely worth checking out!
I hope everyone isn’t stressing too much with presents and even food for next week. Have you finished all your Christmas shopping? If so what was your best purchase this year for someone? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!
Until next time take care all and I hope everyone is getting excited! Only 7 days now!
On Saturday me and Dane went to the Birmingham Comic Con and it was one of my favourite ones to date! Maybe not over Hyper Japan for obvious reasons… š
It was pretty much a last minute decision to go after umming and ahhing for a couple of weeks and due to this we weren’t able to grab priority tickets like we did back at the 2014 Comic Con. This being said it turned out well as we booked our parking in advance so we didn’t have to pay after etc etc. We got there an hour early and had to wait what felt like 10 minutes to be let into the convention. Then we had 6 hours of browsing around the stalls, doing some shopping, admiring all the amazing cosplayers and have a good time.
Before I go onto what amazing cosplayers I met and had pictures with throughout the day I want to show off what I wore as I loved it so damn much and got loads of compliments on it!
A few weeks prior to Comic Con I did my weekly eBay search of Black Milk Clothing bargains and came across this Adventure Time dress. These came out YEARS ago and are now museum pieces, meaning they aren’t coming back unless Black Milk decide to release a limited amount. I wanted this dress back when it first came out but due to money and such I didn’t get it. What probably would have cost near to $100 AUS dollars I go for Ā£35. What a bargain! Of course the pattern as you can see is Lumpy Space Princess who I adore!
It’s a skater dress so it flares out a little which I find to be the best style for my figure. The material is lovely and think meaning if it needs to stretch a little the pattern on it won’t get ruined. I teamed it up with a long white t-shirt as I knew it would be too cold outside to wear it without anything underneath. All about the layering in the winter time! I also teamed it with black tights (which I wish had been thicker!), my triumph Dr Martens boots, my new red coat from M&S and a navy choker.
So when we were ready to go we set off to Comic Con!
This was one of my favourite comic cons I’ve attended to date for one reason, all the amazing pictures I managed to get with cosplayers! I’ll be talking about who I saw in the order I saw them!
The first cosplay we spotted was this amazing Totoro from Studio Ghibli My Neighbour Totoro, which is one of mine and Dane’s favourite movies. I never usually have pictures with anyone at conventions as I often feel too shy or they walk off and I never get chance to have a picture at all. However I shoved my way in the best I could and got my picture.
The next cosplayer we saw was another Studio Ghibli related one, which is from my favourite movie, Spirited Away. This person was dressed as No Face and was definitely one of the best cosplayers I saw all day! I’ve never really seen anyone dress as No Face before so I was so excited to see him. Again like Totoro I waited for my turn to have a picture and got it. By this point I was like a little kid, I was so happy!
This next cosplayer felt kind of official due to where you had to stand to have a picture and although there wasn’t an official queue, it did feel like you were queuing to have your picture with him. Of course it’s Deadpool and oh my God he was a legend! Of course it would have been better if it was Ryan Reynolds, but hey it was a guy dressed as Deadpool, a proper costume too not a shitty morphe suit! No offense to anyone who wears/wore a Deadpool morphe suit… š
When I went over to him I didn’t expect him to talk, but he did! He say hello, asked if I was okay and even complimented me on my dress and said, “Purple really suits you!” WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING!
Ahem… Anyway! He got me to put my hand in a backwards C shape to form a heart and thus our picture was taken. I loved how chatty he was and how into the role of Deadpool he was. It was amazing and I hope everyone got the chance to get a picture with him who loves Deadpool just as much as I do. OH and he even has his little unicorn. š
This cosplayer was one of the hardest to get a picture with and I’m so glad I did to be honest, even though I did feel like a pain in the arse. I was tired, as was Dane and I couldn’t be arsed to push and shove to get a picture BUT by not doing this a lot of people were being rude and barging their way through. One girl in particular was very rude and as I went over to have my picture she barged past me. I ended up calling her something very nasty (begins with a C…) and walked off. Later on however I saw the Totoro again and this time with the cosplayers family who were dressed as Satsuki and Mei and not only did a somewhat get a picture of them all together, but I finally got my picture with Totoro.
After taking some photographs of me by the big MCM Comic Con sign we were just about ready to go home when we saw the last cosplayers we had pictures with and by far the best ones we had pictures with. Dane had wanted to get a picture with a Stormtrooper (or two) all day and we never got the chance to. So we saw them having pictures with some other people and went over to have ours done too. Dane had his picture taken first which he loves, but then it was my turn and it got funny very fast!
They had proper Stormtrooper armour on that also had voice changers inside so they sounded like the ones from the movies. They told me to get down on my knees as I was being arrested and proper went for it! The officer in black wasn’t there beforehand but when he saw how I was having my picture taken he got into the picture without me knowing… Until I saw the picture anyway! I loved the two pictures that me and Dane got with the Stormtroopers and a part of me wants to pop them in a frame at some point so we can remember what an amazing day we had.
Haul wise we bought each other a couple of Christmas presents, as well as some pictures for the house, but in Dane and Natalee tradition we always get at least one picture drawn of us, which is this one. We both love it so much and it’ll go in a frame and put in the house somewhere.
After a long day we came home cooked some dinner and relaxed. We had a lovely time at Comic Con and it was definitely better than the first one we attended together in 2014. My only negative about it this year was how many fake Nendoroid’s were flying around. One stall in particular annoyed me as it just sold nothing but fake items. You could tell they were fake too… I wanted to say something to some guys buying them but I couldn’t, I didn’t want to worry I would be kicked out for being rude or offensive.
Other than that it was amazing and I can’t wait to either attend Comic Con again or even Hyper Japan next year!
Did you go to an MCM Comic Con event this year? If so let me know which one and which cosplayers you saw and loved! You may have even attended Birmingham like I did! If so what did you do there? Make sure to leave all your comments down below!
Until next time, take care all and I hope you had a lovely weekend.
Oh my God I cannot believe we are less than ten days away from Christmas now! It has really flown by, and I will admit that I don’t feel in the festive spirit at all! This being said, I am still excited for Christmas itself to spend time with my friends and family, especially my boyfriend.
As I said before I went on holiday, I would be doing my present ideas posts until the Wednesday before Christmas. So far we have two down, and two left to go including this one. Today I’ll be focusing on the perfect gifts to give to a Star Wars fan, whether they be small stocking figures, or huge splurges for loved ones. There will be loads of choice on this post!
Who doesn’t like a good mug eh? Especially one that has Darth Vader on it saying he likes his coffee on the dark side… Well I’d love to receive this anyway. This would make a great Secret Santa present, or one for a brother who is hard to buy for, but loves Star Wars.
This is very much so on the expensive side for a t-shirt, but totally worth it for how awesome it looks! I wanted to buy this for my boyfriend for Christmas, but it is on the expensive side for what it is, so I left it. I’ll probably pick this up for him next week when I get paid as a present for his holiday. He’s a snowboarder, and like most snow sports people do, he’ll be off on a holiday to do just that at the start of next year. This t-shirt will be perfect for that!
Marks and Spencer love Star Wars this Christmas, and whenever I have been in store that’s what makes up the majority of their Christmas range. They released three Star Wars bath foams this year, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, and Yoda. The only one left online (and from what I’ve seen in store) is Yoda… Which is to be expected really. This would make a perfect stocking filler for young ones, as well as for Secret Santa.
Millennium Falcon Tin – Ā£15.00 in the sale (link)
This is another present idea I had for my boyfriend but it would be rendered pointless for himself. However any die-hard Star Wars fan would love this, and I’m sure the tin would be used loads too. I think this would be an ideal gift for teenagers. I wouldn’t know who else to buy it for to be perfectly honest.
It’s Christmas, alcohol is flowing, and soon enough New Years will be joining and the same will happen all over again. What goes lovely in an alcoholic beverage? Ice of course! What better gift to receive on Christmas Day than a funky Star Wars ice-cube tray? There are loads of different styles to choose from, but I opted for the Han Solo one as it just looks cooler than all the rest. There is a style for everyone though. I would choose R2D2 myself as he’s my favourite character.
In my family we don’t do this, but I know a lot of families who sit around at the table together before, and after dinner, and play board games. Monopoly is usually a good one to play, considering how long it can go on for before someone wins. Over the years Monopoly have brought out various different limited editions boards, this one being one of their newest. I’m sure they have brought out a Star Wars board beforehand, but even so I imagine this will sell out the closer we get to Christmas.
Star Wars: Battlefront available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One – between Ā£33.99 – Ā£34.99
I am pretty sure that every Star Wars fan, and gamer alike will already own this, considering it came out a month ago. I’ve not yet played it myself, but I intend to this weekend when I see my boyfriend next. I’ve watched him play it on Twitch and it looks like such a beautiful game! This will be perfect for any man in your life, providing they don’t already own it.
Luke Skywalker Lightsaber Chopsticks – Ā£9.99 (link)
I’m pretty sure I have mentioned these on my blog before, and if so they really are worth mentioning again. You can get these in various different colours, for various characters including Yoda, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Obi Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalkers green lightsaber, Anakin Skywalker, Mace Windu, Count Dooku, and Kylo Ren from the new film. These make great stocking fillers for anyone who is a fan of Asian food. You can also get these in versions that light up, but of course they cost a little bit more money.
Vans Darth Vader Slip On Shoes – Ā£34.99 in the sale (link)
I own these bad boys, and they’re some of my favourite shoes. I’m really pleased I could find somewhere online who were still selling these, considering they left Vans nearly a year ago now. These are unisex shoes so both men and women can rock these! If you like the look of these as a present for someone, I would snap them up now whilst they’re cheap, and available in most sizes. They also stock some Stormtrooper ones too, which look pretty cool. They’re the same price.
Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Ray – Ā£50.00 (link)
I don’t as of yet own the Star Wars movies on Blu-Ray, although I would like to own them all one day. For so many discs, Ā£50.00 is a real bargain! If Star Wars fans don’t own this already, this will make an ideal gift for them for sure! Just make sure that they own a Blu-Ray player before you buy this… However this being said most consoles have Blu-Ray players inside of them, and Blu-Ray players don’t cost much to pick up anyway.
This was one of the final things I found when researching for this post, and it’s quite a nice little light really. The Death Star is one of the iconic things from Star Wars and this mood light really does show this. This would make a lovely gift for a young child who is just getting into Star Wars, or even a nerd who wants to jazz up their office a little bit.
I saved the best present idea until last. I want this, my boyfriend wants this, my friend Sophie wants this, and I think everyone who loves Star Wars wants this little cutie. He’s an adorable little robot which you control through your mobile phone. It’s only tiny too to be honest, which makes it even cuter. I really hope I can buy one for myself after Christmas. This is a very luxurious present, but I think anyone of any age would love to open this on Christmas Day and play with it as much as possible, I know I would.
So that is my third present ideas post, I only have one more left! I couldn’t resist talking about Star Wars, especially considering it is due out Friday! Me and my boyfriend have already booked our tickets to go and watch it Saturday, and I cannot wait.
Are you going to see the new Star Wars movie? Do you hope to receive any Star Wars goodies for Christmas? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below.
Until next time take care all, and I hope everyone’s week is going well. We don’t have long until Christmas now…
I said before I left for my holiday that from the start of December, until the last Wednesday before Christmas I would be posting Christmas present idea lists up on my blog. I’m not going to do your casual present guides, instead something a little different, and quirky. For my first list my boyfriend is here to give me a hand with a geeky guy present ideas! Him being a geek himself, this is pretty much his wish list for Christmas. So I hope you enjoy his choices, and they help you get any ideas for those geeky men in your life!
Howdy everybody! Natalee is still away on her holiday, so she has roped me in to do another post. Itās coming to that time of year where we openly let a fat bearded man into our homes and steal our milk and mince pies. I never understood why we do that but that thought is for another day!
With Christmas coming up I thought it would be a good idea to give people ideas on what presents to get a geeky guy like me. I know Nat has some difficulty getting me presents as I tend to buy stuff when and if I need it, and I am pretty sure it is the same for a lot of guys out there. My dad in particular is pretty hard to buy for as he isnāt really interested in much. So to give you ladies, and even guys a helping hand with what to get any of the neckbeard* men in your life.

Xbox Elite Controller
Iām an Xbox loyalist; I will state that straight away so forgive me if your man has another console or belongs to the master race (PC). I donāt believe there is an equivalent for the PS4 and the master race will always praise using mouse and keyboard so this is not for them. This is one thing that I am really looking forward to getting. The customisation, the responsiveness… It just looks cool, and so on. Just watch this official video:
The only drawback is the price, at Ā£120 it is pretty steep for an accessory that most people probably donāt need. That is why I have asked for assistance with getting mine for Christmas, I could get it but I canāt justify buying it myself for the full price.
Star Wars Battlefront Special Edition PS4
I suppose an alternative is the Star Wars Battlefront Special Edition PS4. It just looks tasty with the Darth Vader print on the front, funky looking limited edition controller, and general presentation. It also gives me an excuse to be a double agent in the console wars. It is more expensive than the controller so it isnāt really an alternative at all, plus it will never beat the limited edition R2D2 Xbox 360 with sounds and lights. However, for those that want to splash the cash, for those who may be into it, and for those without a PS4 it is a great present. I know Nat really wants one for herself!
Nendoroids (and I suppose Pop! Vinyl Figures)
I am a bit of a snob when it comes to figures, even though I am new to collecting them. Due to this I donāt know names of other brands other than these two and could never see myself buying the proper expensive ones no matter how cool they look. They really would be too unfair on my bank account.
Personally, I dislike Pop! Vinyl figures. As the brand has grown in popularity the quality seems to have diminished. I donāt like the look of them, they are manufactured in greater quantity so the paintwork tends to be iffy at best, and there isnāt much to them other than theyāre a potentially cute looking figure. They are very easy to buy, popular, and cheap brand of figures so yeah, go for it if youāre on a budget, or there is a particular figure that will appeal. Older figures like Natās Wall-E are really decent, whereas newer ones like the Colossal Titan seem badly made. If there was one I would get it would be the Brotherhood of Steel Pop! from the Fallout collection, as I have had my eye on it for a while. Otherwise Iāll tell you about Nendoroids, a figure that I think will give you a hell of a lot more for your buck.
For those that like a bit more quality to their figures, Nendoroids are the way to go. I already own a fair few of them; nearly all the Attack on Titan collection (just missing Cleaning Levi), both Kirito and Asuna from the Sword Art Online collection, Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, and the Star Wars Stormtrooper.
They are manufactured by a Japanese company called Good Smile so a lot of their products are based around manga and anime, making them the perfect gift for someone who loves that sort of stuff. They are incredibly well made, pose-able, and all come with unique accessories that reflect the character. Some examples being Solid Snake has a cardboard box, the Stormtrooper has a blaster, and Mikasa has her red scarf.
The drawbacks with Nendoroids are availability, price, and variety. You can see them at conventions (but be careful theyāre not fake!), and very rarely in places like Forbidden Planet but the best place to get them is online. Always use trusted partners (http://partner.goodsmile.info/support/eng/partnershops/) or shops other people recommend like Sushi Noms, Crunchy Roll and so on. Due to the way Good Smile release them affects how easy to acquire they are. You will find it difficult to find older figures outside of eBay and even then they have a chance of being fake or overpriced. Speaking of price, they can be on the expensive side. For example, I got Nat a Mawaru Penguindrum (Google it) Nendoroid which I would consider quite rare for just over Ā£20. That is good, right? On the other hand the Pokemon Red is priced up at Ā£160⦠Yes, that much! Then there is the trouble of bootlegs which there is a major issue with. Good Smile does bootleg warnings which are great and helpful, but you still have to be careful. I fell victim to it using eBay. It looked real on the pictures, but I could tell instantly it wasnāt when it arrived, and returned it straight away.
Even though these are some issues, I still recommend Nendoroids over anything.
Games (Fallout 4, SW: Battlefront, Just Cause 3)
Games are a simple easy present to get. They are released constantly and if it were me I would be happy to receive any game, hell even Viva Pinata! Just check out the hype for the upcoming games and maybe take a little look at their current collection and it should give you a good idea on what sort of games theyāre into. At the moment I am playing Fallout 4 and Star Wars: Battlefront and anyone would have a blast playing either of those. The problem with these though is they are out already and said person who youāll be buying for will have most likely bought them already (like I have), so what do you get? Well one idea is to buy something similar to what they have already, no harm in that is there? An older game I want is the Master Chief Collection, Iām glad I didnāt get it at launch because it was shrouded in problems but they have fixed them and it would be a great addition to any Halo fan boy. I already own the original Xbox and 360 copies of Halo 1,2 and 3 so I would love to be able to play them on my Xbox One.
You could even go retro, have they ever spoken about the good old days playing the Sega Mega Drive or the Super Nintendo? You can find them pretty cheap on eBay, I got hold of a Mega Drive for £30 and it included 10 games. Mega nostalgia for any gamer!
What if you want to get something new for them? Or your partner has everything already? Or you donāt know the difference between Battlefield and Battlefront? Or you canāt work out why you shouldnāt get Duke Nukem Forever?
Well the answer to that really is Just Cause 3. Why? You ask. Because explosions. Every man wants to be Antonio Banderas and not look at explosions and this game gives you all of that with no risk of being branded a terrorist or creepy for trying to be Antonio Banderas.
Antonio Banderas isnāt actually in this but I think the character is based on his [film career] life. It is a silly game that you shouldnāt take seriously, but that is what makes it fun. I have played the two original games and they are beautiful and amazingly fun to play another game that anyone would love to play. I am actually looking forward to it coming out in December. That is why I am suggesting it as whoever you may buy it for wonāt have it just yet so it makes a perfect present to get. Just make sure they havenāt pre ordered it!
The best advice I can give for when buying games is to ask them straight up what, if any, games they would like. Then you have no trouble. It may ruin the surprise, but if they are anything like me I appreciate the thought that you want to get something I am actually interested in rather than having to feign happiness that you got me Ride to Hell: Retribution because you saw I liked Sons of Anarchy (FYI: It is a terribly bad, bad, bad, bad, baaaaaaad game).
If you really want to surprise the gamer, make the notes of what games they have and go into any gaming store. GAME staff in particular are incredibly helpful and although they want you to buy stuff regardless, I still feel like they want to help you.
GAME Gift Cards
When I say game store, I donāt specifically mean the chain of stores. You can buy vouchers for pretty much all the major game outlets. Xbox store, PlayStation Network, and Steam all have gift cards available, and depending on what system they use you can tailor it to them. If all else fails, get GAME gift cards. Anything that helps me buy more is always welcome.
Portal Board Game
I recently got this to play with Nat, but we havenāt got round to playing it yet. It took a while to understand the rules, we were tired and it was late so please forgive us for not being able to truly review it. Most gamers and geeks will know about the video game Portal, so this is a brilliant gift for any fan of the series. Valve, the creators of the series, are probably one of the biggest hitters in the gaming industry so you canāt miss what they have released. Not sure when it released but I had no idea about it until I randomly spotted it in a Games Workshop. It looks fun and I hope we get round to playing it soon. It would be a great gift to open on Christmas and play with the family.
Stormtrooper Costume
I donāt really know what to say to persuade anyone to buy thisā¦
A full PVC outfit of a Stormtrooper with holster and blaster would be fudging amazing! I have always wanted one, but that price is a bit painful on the soul, if I had oneā¦
Stocking Fillers/Novelty Clothing
These are awesome little ideas that you could buy someone. I know that I have largely focused on gamers with a heavy dosing of Star Wars but this is really for any geek. There are tons of websites and shops out there to get little presents and random bits of clothing.
Just look on the websites for whatever they are into and you can easily find something. If it is clothing I would recommend sticking with T-shirts as not all nerds and geeks are confident enough to walk around wearing a Naruto jacket, a Survey Corps hoody, or even like having to explain what their clothing is from. Most people donāt understand how adults can be into these āchildish cartoonsā. Not even when Lucy from Elfen Lied tears people in half creating a bloody massacre whilst strolling naked through a military complex. T-shirts allow people to express their interests, yet be able to cover up when visiting grandparents. There is nothing more awkward than having to explain over a cup of tea why the cake is a lie. Just donāt put them in that position!
Stay with me here and give me a chance to explain.
I donāt necessarily mean buying your partner a commode and letting them excrete into a bucket, unless you really want to. I mean giving them the gift of letting them zone out and enjoy their games. Book a day off work for them (and yourself), keep up their supply of Monster and Doritos (possibly with melted cheese), and take an interest in what their playing. I know it is hard to just watch someone play but having support from loved ones means a lot, itās the thought that counts. Hell, you could even empty the bucket for themā¦
I joke.
So there you have it, my quick gift guide for that special geeky person in your life. I donāt want this to be limited to just guys as Iām sure some women out there would appreciate the intricacies of a poop bucket. So if you have a geeky guy or girl hopefully they would appreciate some of these things that I myself would love to receive from the bizarro burglar know as Santa.
Ciao for now!
