September Favourites ’19

How are we now in October? My favourite month whizzed by so damn quickly and I didn’t get much chance to see or enjoy it. I did really love September though, it was a month of going out and doing things, as well as staying in and spending time with Dane, which I’ve really loved.

September was also a bit meh and I received some crappy news, including the Japanese language course I enrolled to being cancelled last minute (I got my money back FYI), I found out I can’t get anything to help with my anxiety on flights and I found out I have the first potential signs of cavities in my teeth. People who know me know how much I love my teeth. I’m using some special toothpaste now that may help to reverse this and I really hope it does.

So yeah… September wasn’t the best, sadly. 😦

I’m glad we’re in October now as I’m excited for so many things this month! Halloween, the Pokemon Center having a pop up shop in London, a week off with Dane and even some days off to relax. It’ll be a lovely month to chill and start enjoying autumn.

Anyhoo, enough of me rambling, here are my favourites from September!

  • Philosophy Amazing Grace Eau de Toilette.

I love this EDT so much from Philosophy and I’ve owned it for what feels like forever! My mom gifted me this whilst I still lived at home as she received it in a set and didn’t want to use it herself. It’s a gorgeous soft scent and isn’t like anything else I own. I use this daily for work as it’s my go to right now, but once a week I’ll change it up for something else. It’s just perfect and the scent isn’t too strong either so if I don’t want anything heavy, this perfect.

  • LISTERINE® Total Care Mouthwash.

Since my dentist breaking the news about my teeth that I mentioned earlier, I was recommended to mouthwash after meals, which I do after every meal right now. If I don’t, I used chewing gum instead. I bought some little miniature bottles so that I could carry these around, take to work and even think about taking on holiday in the future. I also have some Colgate mouthwash too, but I love the LISTERINE one more! I plan to pick up a big bottle of this in the future and I can fill up the little bottles. This mouthwash really does leave my mouth feeling clean and fresh, which I love! The Colgate one doesn’t do that.

  • Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

I’ve owned this since the start of 2019, as I planned to use it loads to help my cuticles go lovely and soft. However, it was only from the start of September that I began to use it properly! When I cut my nails and paint them, I decide to use it all over my hands, as well as my cuticles to help my eczema. It’s been really bad lately with the change of weather but the cuticle cream really is helping. 🙂 It smells gorgeous too!

  • Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash.

I picked this up towards the end of September and it’s by far one of the best things I have bought in 2019! I love the Tangle Teezer brushes and discovered them last year and since then I am so grateful that I finally gave them a go. I decided I wanted to give the wet version a go, but I wanted to try and pick up the old version as it looked good. Since buying this drying my hair after washing it has already become so much easier! When I brush my hair in the shower after washing, I feel like I’m brushing away loads of excess water, as well as smoothing is ready to be brushed and dried after. It really is a pleasure to use! I picked mine up from TK Maxx for £7.99, which I thought was a decent price.

  • Yankee Candle Snowflake Cookie.

This was a brand new candle at the start of September, one that Dane had bought me years before and that I have only just started to burn! I love burning candles, especially during the colder months so when September started, I knew I had to start getting my candles going again! I decided to start burning Snowflake Cookie as it was one of the few large Yankee Candle jars that just appealed to me. Christmas scents from Yankee Candle are my favourite, so I make sure to burn them all year around!

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – 13 Reasons Why Season 3.

I binge watched this at the end of the month (mostly as I worked through my October newsletter, this post and even my October wish list post) and I LOVED it so much. I worried that this would make me think, “Oh God they’ve ruined it even more!” after how bad season 2 was. To be fair, nothing could top season 1… So when season 2 came out I wasn’t expecting much. It felt like they were constantly bashing Hannah and it was boring. However, season 3 has really brought it back and I loved it! I don’t want to talk too much about it in case of spoilers, but something has happened to Bryce and everyone is trying to find out what and how, all whilst trying to keep their shit together. It’s crazy! The show (as it does) covers a lot of serious topics that are good to be spoken about and it’s good. If you’re yet to watch season 3, then get to it! If you’ve never watched 13 Reasons Why then I recommend it, but be careful if you have mental health issues like I do. Season 1 was good, but some of the topics were upsetting, especially as suicide is a massive factor.

Favourite Movie – Detective Pikachu.

I know this was mentioned on my monthly favourites back in May but I have to mention it again 4 months later as this film is now out and I made sure to pre-order it ready for when it came out. The day it came out me and Dane played games instead of watching, but the day after I cooked us a yummy dinner and we sat down to watch the movie as we chilled out. It was just as good as I remember it being in the cinema and we even watched all the extras too, which were decent but sadly not as good as I feel they could have been. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t feel that extras and behind the scenes stuff on DVD’s/Blu-rays are as good as they used to be…

Favourite Book – Erm…

Yeah I didn’t read throughout September. Which sucks to be fair. I read so much in August and then September came and I read sweet FA. I either didn’t have time due to busy, or I didn’t want to as I was playing games instead. I’m terrible for reading manga these days and due to that I do feel sad. I still have Elfen Lied to start reading again, as well as catching up with Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and Himouto! Umaru-chan. I know I’ll catch up with reading… I honestly will! I’d take manga to work but I like to play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and do blog work on my break.

Favourite Album – My Chemical Romance – The Black Parade.

I loved this album back in the day when it came out and I remember buying it from HMV as I had some gift vouchers I needed to use. I loved it and listened to it all the time… Even if my friends at the time hated it. I made some friends through this band, one of them who is now my best friend. One of the best live performances I’ve seen was MCR when they toured for this album. They played the set in the order of the album, it was amazing and I adored it. I’ve started using Spotify at work so I have my music on that I want to listen to, without annoying YouTube adverts coming up every 5 minutes. So I decided to add loads of my favourite albums, including this one. This album just has so many memories behind it and I love it.

Favourite Game – Borderlands 3 and Untitled Goose Game.

I couldn’t just mention one of the other of these games this month. Both deserved a spot on here!

First of all, I LOVE the gif I chose to use for Borderlands 3 because these two characters (Zane and Amara) are the two that me and Dane play when we play together. The day the game came out, me and Dane both booked it off so we could play together and relax. It was awesome! The whole weekend we pretty much played this game nonstop! This has got to be the first time I have played a first person shooter game without dying constantly (like seriously every 5 minutes!) and rage quitting. I love this game, it’s hilarious and fun to play with people. I’ve not been playing it much the past week as I’ve been busy chilling out, or playing other games instead. I never played the previous 2 Borderlands games but that doesn’t matter anyway! Honestly, go and pick this game up. 🙂

I wrote in September how excited I was for certain games to come out (which you can read here), with Untitled Goose Game being number one on that list, as it was coming out the soonest. I got home from work and downloaded it to play. Everyone was mad for this game when it came out and so was I! Both me and Dane played this game together and it was absolutely hilarious to play! We still have some bonus stuff to do, even after “completing” the game, which is proving to be so much fun. Honestly, if you own a Nintendo Switch or a Steam account, definitely download and play. Some people said to me that they don’t see what’s the point of this game before it came out. Those people clearly don’t know how to open their minds to new things. 😛

So those are all my favourites for September! September did indeed go by in a blur and I can’t believe we’re in October now. Before we know it, it’ll be December and Christmas will be upon us. It’s crazy!

How were your September’s for you? What were your favourites throughout the month and overall how was it? Please let me know in the comments down below.

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a lovely week so far!

Why I’m a Tangle Teezer Convert – Review

It’s Sunday and I am having such a lazy day! Me and Dane are sat in front of the TV playing games and watching movies whilst we on and off play Pokemon Go too. We have had such a lovely chilled weekend together and really spent time together, which was much needed.

For the rest of our day we’ll be chilling out and having a BBQ, all whilst I get on with blog work. I have loads in my head that I want and need to get written down, all whilst my hayfever plays up. 😛

This is a review I knew I wanted to do a week into using Tangle Teezer brushes. They’ve been around for just over 10 years now and this is the first time I have ever had the pleasure of using one. As someone who has long and thick hair, a review for these brushes is very much needed, especially the two styles I bought.

So get a nice cold drink, sit back and I hope you enjoy my review of not one, but two Tangle Teezer brushes.

I decided in June before me and Dane went away for a short break in Somerset that it was time for me to get a new hair brush. The one I was using at the time was the same style as a Tangle Teezer brush but it had started to see it’s last days and wasn’t performing as well as I wanted it to.

I decided to pick up the Large Smoothing Tool using my Boots points. Although I knew that this hair brush was designed to be using whilst blow drying your hair, I thought it would also be okay for just brushing your hair. Nah, this isn’t good for just that. The teeth on the brush are very hair and due to that it really hurts your scalp when brushing your hair. I gave this a test drive whilst I was in Somerset and I couldn’t get on with it at all!

Before we headed home me and Dane popped to Cribbs Causeway to get some breakfast and have some retail therapy. I decided to pop into Boots to grab the other Tangle Teezer hair brush I had my eye on, this one being The Ultimate Finishing Tool. Now this hair brush is amazing and it has drastically changed my life!

I’ve never tried the original Tangle Teezer and I don’t ever intend to to be honest. Why? well it’s just too small. I like a hair brush with a handle and that’s why I was always put off buying one of these hair brushes in the first place. With both the smoothing tool and the finishing tool they have handles, meaning they’re easy to hold.

The first brush I’m going to talk about is the smoothing tool.

Our innovative Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool takes the hair from wet to dry in one simple step, delivering a quick, smooth and gentle blow-dry.

The full size blow-drying hairbrush from Tangle Teezer is the innovative hairbrush which takes hair from wet to dry.

With ground-breaking teeth technology, the Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool has fixed base teeth with built in tension and slight flexibility at the tips. Delivering flow tension, the teeth allows the hair to snake through for a quick, smooth and gentle blow-dry without pulling or stretch-drying.

Taking excess water away from the hair for a faster drying time, the hair is left voluminous and shiny with reduced frizz. There’s no need for straightening irons.

The full size Blow-Styling Smoothing Tool is best suited for medium to long hair lengths.

Information taken from www.tangleteezer.com

When I first went to try this brush whilst blow drying my hair, I wondered if it would deliver what it said it would and surprisingly enough, it did! Not only do I have long hair, but I have thick hair too and whilst I’ve managed to get it blow dried at a reasonable time, it can take more time to dry it than it would for someone with shorter hair.

My Dyson hairdryer is amazing and really has improved my hair drying time, as well as my hair, so if I could find a hair brush to help me fasten the time even more, that’s amazing.

When my hair is wet I’ll brush it with this brush all over and run it through my hair whilst blow drying. As you’d probably gathered, the hair brush is designed to be used alongside a hairdryer. I’ll brush my hair and blow dry whatever is in the brush. I hope that makes sense, I can’t really think how to describe it! Due to the way the teeth are on this brush you can grab large and small pieces of hair to dry, which in turn makes drying the top of your head really easy. I always struggle to dry that part of my hair, but since getting this brush it’s definitely become easier to do.

I notice after using this on my hair that it feels lovely and smooth, with no frizz. If there would be a perfect partner tool for the Dyson hairdryer, it would definitely be this hair brush.

The smoothing tool is amazing and I am so happy to have it to use alongside my Dyson hair dryer now! Although I used my Boots points, this brush costs £20.00. Do I think it’s worth it? Definitely if you have long and thick hair like me which takes ages to dry! This has definitely sped up my Wednesday mornings before work. If your hair doesn’t take a long time to dry then this brush probably isn’t for you.

When my hair is dry I’ll go over it with this brush, but to make sure it’s lovely and smooth I’ll use the finishing tool.

The Ultimate dry-styles and dresses the hair. It’s designed to achieve perfect updos, back-brush in volume and texture and maintain hair extensions, clip-ins and weaves.

The Ultimate is Tangle Teezer’s fabulous new shocking pink dry-styling hairbrush.

Offering the perfect finishing touch, The Ultimate is created for dry-styling and dressing your hair. The unique teeth are longer with softer tips which lightly detangle and smooth cuticles for a high shine. It’s designed to achieve perfect up-dos, back-brush in volume and texture and to maintain and blend in hair extensions, clip-ins and weaves.

Easy to hold, simple to use and all you need for that final flourish, The Ultimate hairbrush finishes your look in style.

If there is a beauty staple I’ve bought this year that I have fallen in love with and will rave is one of the best I’ve bought, it’s this bad boy. Oh man this hair brush has actually changed my life! I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s the honest truth.

This brush is said to be for best brush for styling, but personally I think it’s perfect for just brushing my hair. The Tangle Teezer brushes are known for having the bristles that won’t pull your hair and hurt you pretty much. They brush through the hair with ease and detangle as they pass through any matted hair.

The bristles on this brush are long and due to that catch every hair you brush. Although they aren’t as thick and strong as the smoothing tool bristles, these bristles still hold up pretty well for what they are, which I love! It means if you have really thick hair they’ll withstand it without them getting damaged.

I find that this brush leaves my hair feeling soft, sleek and smooth after brushing. Everyday I put my hair into a fishtail braid and for this I need my hair to be really smooth so I can make it look as neat as possible. This brush has really helped to do that and my fishtail braids always look near and tidy.

My only issue with this brush is that it gather muck quickly around the bristles and although I clean it daily/weekly, I already feel that I need to give the brush a deep clean! I never had this with any of my other brushes. I intend to give it a big deep clean tonight when I have a bath.

As I said before and I’ll say again, this hair brush has really changed my life. Growing up I always used paddle brushes to brush my hair, as I’ve always had thick and long hair. Some paddle brushes broke due to the constant brushing and others just didn’t brush as well as they could have. I’m glad that we now have brushes like the Tangle Teezer ones that will do a great job in brushing our hair without LOADS of effort.

Again, I used my Boots points to buy this brush, but it costs £15.00 to buy. Would I pay that price for a brush? Well knowing now how amazing this one is, FUCK YES! Sorry to swear but honestly, I’ve never used a hair brush as good as this one and I love it dearly. Brushing my hair has never felt like a chore, I love my hair so much. This brush makes me feel somewhat glam after using as it just makes my hair look and feel gorgeous.

Will I try anymore of the Tangle Teezer brushes? I don’t know in all honesty, not unless I replace the two I have in the future with the same things… These are all I really want from the Tangle Teezer collection. I don’t need one I can throw in my handbag because I don’t brush my hair whilst I’m out and about. I braid it and leave it for the day.

Do you own a Tangle Teezer brush or brushes? Which one(s) do you own? Make sure to let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend.

June Favourites ’18

I cannot believe it is July! I ended off June by getting incredibly drunk and nursing a monster of a hangover with McDonalds chicken nuggets. xD

Oh dear. It’s a lovely warm day though, I’m between doing housework and blog work and getting ready to go out to a wedding this evening. I usually get my monthly blog posts written up and scheduled about a week in advance, but sadly that isn’t the case this month… OOPS! 😛

Anyway, enough blabbering, on with the favourites this month! 😀

  • Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Skin Wash.

If there is a product that I have REALLY loved lately, it’s definitely this tea tree skin wash, which you can use all over your body, including your face. My skin has been breaking out really bad lately, so much so that I worried I might have acne. Alas, it was just some of the products I was using on my skin as since I started using this stuff on my face it has changed dramatically! Not only that but I use it on my body too as a shower gel and I always get out of the shower feeling fresh and clean! I always forget how much I love this skin wash and from now on it’s definitely going to be a constant piece of my shower/bath!

  • Simple Kind To Eyes Soothing Eye Balm.

I recently picked up this old favourite again as I was in need of a new eye gel. I’ve used this on and off over the years and never had a problem with it, but sometimes I’ve found it to be too expensive for what it is and that’s why I didn’t pick one up. However, recently I found it at a price I was willing to pay and oh man, I forgot how great this eye balm is! As many of us Brits know, it’s been really hot in the UK most of June so this eye balm has come in handy for helping cool down my eyes early in the morning, as well as in the evening before bed.

  • L’Occitane Almond Foot Cream.

I don’t actually know if L’Occitane even sell this anymore but I’ve started using it lately to help soften my feet. On and off for about a year now I appear to now have eczema on one of my feet, which sucks. Since using this food cream in the mornings before work the eczema has improved dramatically! Some days I don’t use it, but most days I do. Due to the almond it smells really good too and has a matte texture to it so it doesn’t leave your feet feeling greasy after use, which is great!

  • Le Mini Macaron Gel Manicure Kit in Midnight Blueberry.

I’ve wanted to try the Le Mini Macaron gel kits for agggges! It started off as a Kickstarter and I remember discovering it after it had finished. I’ve had my eye on the kits online for a while but I didn’t feel that the £30-£35 price tag was really worth it for what you get. However, recently House of Fraser had some of the kits on offer for just £10! So I finally picked one up. I’m so glad I did as I now have a new found love for gel nail polish and since then I’ve used more gel polishes with it than the one provided in the kit. Sadly House of Fraser don’t have anymore of these kits left. 😦

  • Tangle Teezer The Ultimate Finishing Brush.

I picked up this hair brush when I went to Bristol at the start of June and oh my God, it has changed my life so much! For about 5-6 years now I’ve been using this style of brush, but never the Tangle Teezer brand. I knew I was in need of a new hair brush so I decided to use my Boots points to pick up one of these brushes, as well as their smoothing tool brush which you use when blow drying your hair. Their brushes are just amazing and I cannot wait to review them both on my blog.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10.

Holy shit this season was crazy of RuPaul’s Drag Race and I’m not going to lie or reveal any spoilers, but I am so annoyed at who won… But whatever. If there was one queen on this season who I loved to the moon and back, it’s Monet x Change. She is such an amazing queen and she made me laugh constantly and SHE SHOULD HAVE FUCKING ONE! My favourite moment in this season is the clip I’ve posted above, and it’s definitely one of my favourite moments EVER! 😀

Favourite Film – The Shawshank Redemption.

This is such a random film to have on my favourites this month, but it’s probably the only one I’ve actually watched. I fancied watching it after realising that Hank in Detroit:Become Human is the mean prison ward in this film! I just felt the need to watch it again really and I always forget what an amazing film this is. I’m watching it right now as I write this blog post… 😛

Image taken from giphy.com

Favourite Book – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid.

I bought quite a few Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga’s in June as 2 of them came out. I always love when I get the newest volume because I can carry on where the anime left off. I don’t feel like I need to write too much about this manga series as I feel like I wrote WAY TOO MUCH about them throughout June. 😛

Favourite Song/Album/Artist – Panic! At The Disco – A Fever You Can’t Swear Out.

I don’t know quite why, but recently on my journeys to and from work I’ve been mostly listening to A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out and it really took me back to over 10 years ago when it came out. I remember going and buying it one weekend and I listened to it so much at school. I just forgot how much I love it and it’s such a great album for summer too. I don’t care how old the album is, it’s still a classic!

Image taken from knowyourmeme.com

Favourite Game – VR Chat and Pokemon GO.

Well this is a game I’ve wanted to play for the longest time and although I only have a handful of times, I LOVE IT SO MUCH! The first time I went on the game I was incredibly overwhelmed and confused, I didn’t even turn my microphone on as I was too anxious to talk. The second time I went on the microphone was on and I had an amazing time with random people, one even told me how to do bits and pieces on there and it was lovely. As I wore a skin of an anime girl, I become some Ugandan Knuckles’s queen! It was hilarious and Dane filmed the whole thing. I’m really hoping to start making gaming videos with Dane. Keep eyes peeled for that in the future. 😛

I couldn’t not talk about Pokemon GO this month as I recently downloaded it again and since playing it with Dane and our friends I am in love with it! 😀 We’ve been out with our friends a few times now to play it and walked around our area as well as parks. I’ve also bought the Pokemon GO Plus so I can still play whilst I’m out and about without pulling my phone out of my handbag. I’ll be talking about that very soon! But yeah, I love Pokemon Go and I cannot wait to play it more over the summer.

So those are my favourites from June! What were you loving throughout last month? Make sure to let me know in the comments.

Until next time, I hope you all have a lovely day and are enjoying the warm weather.
