2018 Christmas Advent Calendars You Should Buy!

December is now less than a month away and the closer it gets to the 1st December, the more people frantically run around the shops and online for advent calendars. Whether they be chocolate, tea, beauty or even alcohol everyone is after the perfect one for Christmas, not even just for themselves.

For years now I’ve always looked out for unique and amazing calendars that appeal to me and this year I feel like I’ve seen quite a few I’m keen on. So I thought I would share them on my blog.

I don’t care if people are still thinking, “Nat! It’s too early for Christmas!” Well no not really. It’s a month until December and people usually start opening advent calendars on the 1st so…

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this post! At the time of writing I’ll pop prices too, as well as links to the product.

ADVENT

  • Baylis & Harding Beauticology Special Delivery Red Calendar – £9.99 (link)

I actually heard about this advent calendar from someone I work with and it is RIGHT up my street! I love all the scents of the products in there such as peppermint swirl, candy cane and vanilla icing. The scent range actually reminds me of what The Body Shop are bringing out this year. I always eye up the Baylis & Harding stuff at Christmas and regret not getting anything, but I think I am going to treat myself to this this year. I mean, why the hell not?! Spoiler, I’ve already bought it! 😛

  • Cath Kidston Christmas Town House Advent Calendar – £40.00 (link)

The past year I’ve really grown to love Cath Kidston, after years of wondering what the hype around it was! I’ve been eyeing up the advent calendar they’re bringing out this year and I really like the look of this one, but I put that down to all the cute alpaca stuff they have in it. You get loads of different bits and pieces in this including body lotion, lip balm, hand cream, bathing salts, cuticle cream and body scrub. I just love all the different things you get! I’ve found this really cheap online so I may have to treat myself to it to have at work or something. I’ll see. This would make an amazing gift for a teeanger, or anyone who loves Cath Kidston.

  • The Body Shop 25 Days Of The Ehchanted Deluxe Advent Calendar – £65.00 (link)

This was one of the first advent calendars I saw this year and I was so close to ordering it, BUT urgh the price. It hurts my soul. I’ve never had a beauty advent calendar before and this year I felt like going all out, but not for almost £70! This looks so good though and has a large variety of products in, perfect for anyone who is looking for new products to try, or even people who want to try The Body Shop but aren’t sure where to start. I’m not a massive fan of some of the products in all The Body Shop advent calendars but I’d gift those items to people, my mom and my best friends being the main ones, you know like little stocking fillers! I may keep my eyes peeled when these go down in price to pick them up but I just can’t justify the price.

  • Disney Snow White 12 Days Beauty Advent Calendar – £14.00 down to £7.00 (link)

I saw this advent calendar a while ago when I was bored on my lunchbreak and was after an advent calendar. I know that this is aimed at children, but it just looks so basic and simple I love it! This would be great to give to a teenager or child 12 days before Christmas and for the price you could buy loads of them too! I may have to grab one of these at some point if I still feel like getting it. The items in the calendar have a fresh apple scent. You get a nice range of products in this like hand cream, body lotion, body wash, lip balm, bath fizzers, nail file and a body puff. This is more for children and teenagers.

  • MUGLER Angel Advent Calendar – £115.00 down to £103.50 (link)

This is definitely an advent calendar I’d love to buy but fuck me the price is crazy! This is something I’ll be keeping my eye on however as it’s just such a bargain for all the goodies you get. Angel was one of the first perfumes I owned and it was my mom who bought it for me. I don’t wear Angel as much as I used to for vairous reasons, mostly because I’m trying to use up my older stuff to make way for my favourite stuff. This is only for 12 days so I’d start it more towards Christmas. I just love all the little bits you get in here and especially the fact you get two refillable bottles, one in a 15ml and one in a 25ml! I’d gift my mom the latter as I have a refill size at 25ml already. I’m praying this goes down in price more as I really would like it, even after Christmas!

  • Baileys Advent Calendar – £18.00 down to £16.20 (link)

There’s nothing wrong with an alcohol advent calendar, but not when they cost a bloody fortune! This probably isn’t worth £18.00 when you can buy a bottle of Baileys for the same money. I like the idea of opening little minatures each day to pop in your coffee and hot chocolates! I’d want to pick this up for a cheaper price though, not going to lie.

  • M&S 12 Days Of Christmas Socks – £18.00 (link)

My manager at work actually found these and they’re such a unique and cute idea! I love the idea of opening a new pair of socks for 12 days, especially Christmas socks. I’m actually tempted to buy this as a gift for someone myself, but I’m unsure. BUT if you know someone who loves a good pair of socks, you could definitely pick this up for them. My favourite pair in the box is definitely the Christmas llama ones. 😛

  • I Love Christmas 12 Days Of Christmas Advent Calendar – £12.00 (link)

This is the last gift set on this list and it’s definitely a cute one, for an affordable price. This is definitely a great advent calendar to pick up for a child or a teenager due to how cutesy it is. Not only do I love all the kawaii animals on it, but I also love what you get inside the gift set itself! You get hand cream, bath salts, bath fizzers, a body puff, nail file, lip balm, body lotion and body wash. They’re all scents that are right up my street too! For £12.00 I feel like this is a complete bargain.

So those are my picks for advent calendars! I’m sure there are so many more out there that may appeal to loads of people, but these are the ones I like the most!

There are some really awesome advent calendars out there! This is the first time I’ll be treating myself to a nice advent calender too. I’ve already bought both me and Dane Reece’s Peanut Butter advent calendars and I’m so excited to open it. 😛

Are you or have you bought your an advent calendar yet? If so which one have you bought, or which one(s) are you planning to pick up? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’re having a great week so far

November Favourites 2014

Christmas is just around the corner and as I say every favourites post, I can’t believe how fast the year has gone. To think in less than a months time it’ll be a New Year, Christmas will be over and I’ll be older.

November went by really quickly and it actually took me ages to try and think about what my favourites were throughout the month, as it just flashed by!

Eventually I came up with my ten favourites and here they are.

  • Yankee Candle’s Simply Home Candle in Lemon Cream.

I’ve owned this candle for quite a while, but since having the house to myself the past two weeks, my boyfriend and I have been burning this loads as we love the smell and look how low down it is now! This was really cheap too from a market nearby where I live, only £6 and this is a medium jar, which usually retails for £9, so I did get it at a bargain. I haven’t seen this for sale in-store anywhere since buying it, which sucks as it smells delicious. It reminds me of lemon cake, most of all like the one you can get from Costa Coffee, which just smells lush! It’s a really strong candle too and when I first used to burn this I used to have to keep my window open as it used to give me a headache. I’ll definitely buy this again in the future, as well as one of the Simply Home candles again as they’re a great price and are actually Yankee Candles, but under a different name. They’re worth just as much as the Yankee Candles themselves. Check these out if you haven’t before.

  • The Body Shop Glazed Apple Shower Gel.

I LOVE the Glazed Apple collection from The Body Shop this Christmas and I’ll really be sad to see this go at the end of the month. I love apple scents and this really does smell of fresh apples, but with a sweet scent too. My friend Mali over on her blog (link) reviewed this not long after it came out in October and described it as smelling like Hubba Bubba apple bubblegum and she’s so right! I love using this shower gel in the mornings before I head to university as I smell of it for a while before I leave the house and the fresh but sweet apple scent really does wake you up. It makes lots of lovely bubbles and a little bit of it goes a long way. My boyfriends been using this loads too and he loves it. I’ve also tried the hand cream from this collection and have literally just ordered the bubble bath too. I’m excited to try it out! I recommend picking up the Glazed Apple products as soon as possible as soon enough Christmas will be over and these will be coming off of the shelves too.

  • Angel by Thierry Mugler EDP.

Sadly a few months back I ran out of my Angel and luckily I have a refillable bottle so it doesn’t cost me much to get my star bottle refilled if I want to. So for less than £30 my Dad was lovely enough to go and get it refilled for me and since then I’ve been using Angel once again. This is one of my favourite perfumes and has been since it came out in the early 90’s. My Mom used to wear this loads when I was a kid and because of it, the scent always reminds me of her. I love wearing this throughout the winter season as it’s such a warming scent and it lasts ages too so if I’m busy I don’t have to worry about topping it up every hour or so. If you’re thinking of getting this someone for Christmas, or even yourself definitely pick up the refill bottle! You save so much money in the long run.

  • Dettol Moisturise Aloe Vera & Milk Protein Hand Wash.

The Dettol hand wash is back on my sink and boy have I missed it! I love the Dettol hand washes, they’re sure to clean your hands from bacteria, smell delicious and leave my hands feeling moisturised and lovely. This was on offer in Asda for just 95p, which I thought was great considering the Dettol hand washes are £1-£2 usually. This smells delicious and I can’t even describe the scent, other than fresh and like milk and honey. I’ll definitely be picking this up again as it’s made my hand lovely and soft, and not many hand washes out there does that to my hands.

  • The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector.

I still own this hand cream and I have to just say how lovely it is! Since picking this up on my 24th at the start of the year it has done nothing but keep my hands soft. This is definitely one for autumn and winter as it’s a very thick hand cream that is designed for dry to very dry hands, which I suffer from terribly at this time due to my eczema. However, as of yet I haven’t had any problems (touch wood!) and I have a feeling it’s because of using this hand cream everyday. I got this for £5.00, instead of the full price of £11.00 and whilst it is expensive it really is worth the money! I recommend this and have written a review for it in the past (check that out here) and I will tell people to try this over and over again as it really is amazing and a real skin saver!

  • Bath & Body Works Pocketbac Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel in Graham Cracker Marshmallow.

I love Bath & Body Works, but I hate that they aren’t available in this country, GRR! I usually pick up my Pocketbac’s from eBay and that is where I bought this one from. This hand sanitizer smells of yummy chocolate crackers and it really is delicious. As all Pocketbac’s the scent is really strong and lasts ages. I’m usually asked what perfume I’ve put on whenever I use this as it just smells THAT strong, never a bad thing. As well as that it keeps my hands germ free and clean throughout the day. I love using this in class as my lectures are due to start and it really is a treat to use. I always sniff my hands after use too and it really does smell yummy. If you like the sound of this just go and search for it on eBay, I’m sure you’ll find one on there somewhere.

  • Carmex Lip Balm in Strawberry.

I’ve posted about this lip balm various times on my blog and even written about it in the past (which you can check out here) and once again it is rearing it’s strawberry scented head. I love using the original Carmex but as that is seeing it’s last days I have started to use the Strawberry one more. This smells lightly of Strawberries and you can taste it a little when you put it on the lips, but it isn’t anything major. This lip balm is gorgeous and a little bit of it goes a long way. I love using this alone and under lip products. My lips over the years have been dry and chapped throughout the winter season, but since discovering Carmex last summer my lips since have been lovely and soft… I do use other lip balms by the way! I find this one works nice underneath lip glosses but with lipsticks (depending on the formula) it doesn’t work as well if you don’t blot afterwards… But I often do this anyway. I’m going to try the cherry flavour when this has finished, can’t wait!

  • Rimmel Glitter Bomb Top Coat in Bedazzle.

This was one of my more recent beauty purchases and it’s a gorgeous glitter top coat. I know I don’t need anymore make up products, I know this but who can deny something as lovely as this? This top coat is a dupe of OPI’s Polka.com nail lacquer and I’d wanted that nail polish for nearly two years, so the fact that I have bought a great dupe for over half the price isn’t bad. I need to post a review of these in the next few weeks before Christmas and New Year roll around, but this is such a great top coat to wear alone or over a nail polish colour. It has purple, blue and pink glitter running throughout and is really girly! Perfect for New Years parties and I can see me wearing this loads in December.

  • Vaseline Lip Therapy with Aloe Vera.

Okay I want to start this by saying I don’t use this on my lips, I use it on my eyebrows… Yes I know that sounds weird but hear me out. I have HUGE eyebrows and without a gel or Vaseline to keep them looking neat and tidy they would be an unruly mess! I apply a little of this onto my eyebrows and then use an eyebrow/eyelash comb to smooth them down and make them look tidy and straight. I recommend this if you have thick eyebrows like I do, I wouldn’t wish to use a coloured gel on mine as they’re black so they can’t really become any darker than they are already. Plus Vaseline doesn’t cost much either, which makes my wallet happy.

  • Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Lacquer in Raspberry Rhapsody.

I wrote a review (you can check that out here) about these when they first came out and ever since I’ve loved these and have been meaning to order some more for when I go on holiday in the New Year (which I’ll do after Christmas!) as they’re just such lovely shades. This is definitely one of my favourite shades as it’s a gorgeous purpley pink shade and looks beautiful on the lips, leaving a slight stain as well as keeping them moisturised and feeling great. I often opt for these if I’m not in the mood to wear a lipstick as they’re easy to apply and last ages so I don’t feel the need to reapply them often. If you haven’t tried these yet, get from under that rock you’re clearly hiding underneath and give these a go!

So those were my favourite products throughout November! I can’t believe it’s December already. Speaking of which, what do you all think of my new header? Christmassy huh?

What did you like using in November? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time, take care all.

March Favourites 2014

DSC_0005

I’m sorry to say it (like I do on pretty much every favourites post) BUT I can’t believe we’re into a new month already and the fact that it’s April already is somewhat scary, but not so bad at the same time. I’m really excited that Spring has started and quite frankly I can’t wait for Summer next. I’m bored with cold weather now, I want some sunshine so I can wear my dresses, baggy t-shirts with my skinny fit jeans, and my skate shoes for a slouchy look…

However this post is getting off track, this is my favourites from the last month, so let’s get on with them before I start talking about clothes! xD

DSC_0006

  • Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.

Another beauty product that my Mom has given me… I know I say this a lot but I seriously don’t ask her to buy me these things, she just buys them and ends up giving them to me to try/use as she finds another product to lust over! I love her for it though, and my skin does too. 🙂 BUT this cream is beautiful and I am really glad she gave it to me. This is an anti-aging cream and whilst I’m only 24, it’s good to protect my skin from aging now whilst I still have the chance to, so this is a great cream for that. As well as that this cream has lots of good things about it! First of all I want to comment how lovely this cream smells. I hate when face creams smell gross and chemically, as the last thing I want to apply to my face is something that has a smell that makes me gag and I have to keep sniffing for max ten minutes after applying. It has a delicate floral scent to it, and due to it being delicate it isn’t a strong smell either, which is an added bonus for myself. The cream is light and gel like but still very moisturising which I like, as due to my combination skin I hate thick creams as they never seem to sink in! Plus with a gel style face cream a little goes a very long way! This has certainly done wonders for my skin the past couple of weeks of using it and I recommend it to anyone who is after a high brand moisturiser. I love this face cream and I can see it reappearing on  my blog in the future.

  • Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Bath Cream.

I love a good bath like any sane person and I’m always on the search to buy and try out new bubble baths to use after a long day, or at the start of the day to get myself ready for one! When this bath cream popped up in my bathroom at the start of the month I knew I would love it! I’ve used Imperial Leather’s Japanese Spa range before and I would be lying if I said I didn’t like it all that much. As regular readers will know from my Japanese Series (posts here, here, here, and here) I love anything Japanese and due to this containing ingredients related to Japan, I knew I would love this bath cream straight away! It contains green tea (yum!), rice milk and jasmine, which are all good at soothing the skin, as well as relaxing the mind, which is what I need after a long day or week after work. I love to use this one in the evenings after a close shift at work, as I’m usually shattered and in need of some TLC. After using this in the bath my skin felt soft and smooth, as well as smelling gorgeous! This smells really floral and fresh which I liked! I have another one of Imperial Leather’s bath creams in my bathroom cupboard, so I’m excited to try that one out once this ones finished. 🙂

  • The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector (mentioned here and here).

Ever since discovering this hand cream before Christmas last year, it’s been a staple for my hand bag ever since! I love this hand cream and it’s been a life saver in the mornings before work when I forget to put any hand cream on before leaving the house! Not just in the mornings though, but throughout the whole day, whether I’m working or not. It always stays in my hand bag as it’s just my favourite hand cream to go to when I’m out and about. It’s a thick hand cream, designed for people with very dry skin and due to my on and off eczema on my hands, I indeed have very dry skin! My eczema has eased a lot now that the winter months have come and gone but that doesn’t stop me from having dry hands, however Hemp Hand Protector is a life (well hand) saver and there’s nothing that beats it for me when I’m on the go! It does have an odd scent to it, but it’s nothing that I can’t handle. This is featured on My Top 5 Hand & Foot Creams post, so make sure to go and check it out for a more detailed review on it, as well as a swatch of what it looks like!

  • Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence.

Another product given to my by my Mom! We love Philip Kingsley products in this house and as she ordered herself some new shampoo, she received this hair spray free, which she kindly gave to me. This is a lovely product to use on my hair and a real treat to be honest as whilst my hair is really long and taken good care of, I never really use hair masks, conditioners, or anything like that! I’ve been using this once, sometimes twice a week on my hair after washing it. You spray it onto wet hair through the middle of your hair and on the ends and without washing it out, use whatever heat you wish on your hair. I don’t use any tools on my hair, just my hairdryer so I apply this before I blow dry my hair. My hair feels and looks gorgeous after I use this product and it does feel like a real treat for my hair! It also smells really fresh, which I like as nasty smelling hair products aren’t exactly a treat are they… More like a torture for your nose! I feel this really does give my hair that oomph it needs mid-week and at the end of the week when I wash my hair. I think I would buy this product in a full size bottle as it’s just a lovely product to use for my hair.

  • Thierry Mugler Angel EDP (mentioned here).

I have to say going through my blog and finding that I haven’t spoken much about Angel on here since purchasing in 2012’s sales, is a big shock to me! I LOVE Angel and the fact I haven’t spoken about it much is rather shocking, and disappointing to myself. Angel is one of the first perfumes I smelt and fell in love with, thanks to my Mom. With my first proper job and the New Year sales shouting “BUY ME, I’M HALF PRICE!” I couldn’t resist the Angel gift set and I left the shop a mixture of excited and worried due to how much it cost at the time. Over a year later I don’t regret buying the gift set at all and I don’t have much of this perfume left, lucky for me though that I have a refill bottle! ANYWAY… I’ve been in love with Angel this month gone and have used it most days at work. It’s been rather warm lately and as it’s a perfume I can wear all year round, I decided to keep Angel in my bag for the majority of March and I’m glad I did! A couple of sprays of this and you’re good to go for most of the day and when I wear this for work I get a lot of compliments from customers. Angel is a very unique scent and one I know I’ll love for my entire life. I’ve recently been trying out the EDT version of Angel and although I don’t necessarily prefer it to the EDP, it does make a pleasant change and I can see me picking the EDT version up in the future for the summer months when I don’t want something too strong on my skin. I have a 25ml size bottle and although there isn’t much left now (MAX 20%) I can’t believe it’s lasted me over a year. Shows what a great perfume it is! 😀

  • Easy Nails Fast & Fruity Nail Polish Remover.

This isn’t a well-known brand nail polish remover pot, but it’s better than the well-known ones, that’s for sure! Just yesterday I had to pick myself up a new pot of this, as my current one is falling apart due to wear. I picked this up a while ago in Body Care for less than a £1.00 and since then I have been in love with using it. It smells of yummy peaches which is a definite bonus and not only that it ACTUALLY removes all my nail polish in max 7 twists of my nail. It has a spongy inside, as well as plenty of nail polish remover and with some turns of the pot, or your nail your nail polish will be removed! It doesn’t quite remove glitter nail polish, but I find that if I twist my glitter covered nail around in the pot for a while, remove, and then apply a cotton pad covered in nail polish remover to the nail, the glitter comes away in one easy rub. I’ve tried Bourjois nail polish remover pot before and I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s crap… REALLY CRAP and it makes me somewhat angry that I wasted nearly £5.00 on it when I picked up this beauty for less than a £1.00 and it works 100 times better! Oh well, I guess you live and learn eh? Just so you know too if you’re thinking of picking this up, Home Bargains sell it for less than a £1.00 too, which is where I picked my new pot up from today.

DSC_0008

  • L’Oreal L’Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick by Color Riche in Ruby Opera (mentioned here).

I heard about these liquid lipsticks from L’Oreal a couple of months before they arrived in the UK thanks to Eating Lipstick over the pond and although she didn’t rate them highly, I still wanted to give them a go, especially Ruby Opera, which is a gorgeous true red shade. At the moment I’m loving my red shades for lips and it’s all I’ve been wearing during March! Red really does suit my skin tone and as my lips have been a tad on the dry side on and off this month I’ve found myself reaching for Ruby Opera more so than any other lip product. I don’t want to go into too much detail about Ruby Opera here as I plan to review it this month at some point so I want to save all the details for then. I will say however what a gorgeous glossy lipstick this is! The texture of this and application is more like a lip gloss than a lipstick but it has the staying power of a lipstick, this being said I do find I have to reapply this after a few hours if I’m drinking a lot, but with a lip liner underneath I have no problems. These come in a lot of shades and I’ve already got my eye on another one… Which I would have bought yesterday if I had of had 20p extra points on my Boots card! But oh well, I can keep saving those towards a new perfume. 😛 This is a great liquid lipstick and I love it so much and recommend them to everyone who wishes to try something different.

  • Models Own Sticky Fingers Nail Polish in Sweet Candy (mentioned here).

Although this is a very new purchase, I haven’t been able to stop wearing the nail polish in this set on my fingers and toes! It’s called Nude Beige and when applied to your nails it looks glossy and almost gel like. I wore this last Thursday and it looked gorgeous, I was sad to have to take it off for work the next day. I applied one of the cute little stickers on my ring finger, which refused to come off, that isn’t a bad sign but next time I’ll be tempted to leave it on there. 😛 I recommend these nail polishes to anyone who wants to try something a little different as they’re definitely that and for £5.00 you won’t be breaking the bank giving these a go. I can’t wait to wear this nail polish again and I can safely say that I think it’s going to become a favourite for spring and summer this year.

  • EOS Blueberry Acai Smooth Sphere Lip Balm (mentioned here).

When my friend Amy came to visit me in Birmingham a month ago we wandered off around Selfridges to look at MAC, Illamasqua, as well as lots of other high brands to drool over, but I gave into one of my items from my March Wish List by buying this lip balm and I’m SO glad I did! I did somewhat worry to myself that I would buy it and not use it after a while but I find that I can’t put it down and I use it at home, work, on my days off, before bed, just everywhere, whenever and however I can! It smells of a blueberry green tea I drink, which is lovely and it also feels gorgeous on the lips. It does help keep them soft and smooth, the only thing I dislike about this is the price, seeing as it’s £5.99! But well worth the money if you ask me. Aside from that, the only other thing I sort of dislike is people commenting and asking me what I’m applying to my lips, which is more annoying than anything, but with a short explanation, their questions and confusions are answered.

  • Nintendo 2DS Handheld Console in White & Red. Captain America bought separately (mentioned here and here).

Okay now I know this isn’t a beauty related item but I HAD TO mention my Nintendo 2DS here as since buying it it has become something I play on everyday if I can, and right now I always make sure to make time to play it. I mentioned on the first post mentioned above how I had wanted one for ages and a very hungover and tired me decided to take the plunge and buy one, seeing as  my boyfriend was. Now we play on our 2DS’s together and whilst he has three games, I still have two, Pokemon X and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I already want another game and I know that won’t be the last, as the Nintendo Store has loads of games I wish to get my grubby paws on! I love my 2DS so much and I really can’t stop playing games on it. ^_^

So those were all my favourites for this month!

What were your favourite products, beauty or anything for that matter? Let me know in the comments down below!

If you have any questions about any of the products I mentioned in this months favourite, please feel free to ask.

Until next time, take care all and here’s to April, hope no one got fooled.

The Fragrance Shop Discover Club 5th Edition – Review*

This post and review is a rather exciting one… It’s my first review to have a * next to it. Yep, this is my first product sent to review and boy is it amazing and as the title reads, it’s The Fragrance Shop Discover Club 5th Edition*.

I was asked by the lovely Steph at Sparkle PR to review this and I gladly accepted! I love reviewing things and I also love perfume, so this was just my ideal first product to review on my blog.

I test ran the Discovery Club box over a week and over the week I really couldn’t wait to tell you all about this! First of all I shall talk about the box itself and what it’s all about and then I shall go onto the perfumes for both women and men that I received in my Discover Box!

So, without further ado, let’s get on with this review, which I warn you is going to be VERY long, but well worth a read!

The Discovery Box has been available for a year now, this being the 5th box. Boxes cost £5 each and you receive a new box every quarter, which you can cancel receiving at any time!

Inside the box you usually receive 5 perfume samples for both men and women, but with box number 5, you will receive 9! As well as that you also receive a booklet with some further information about the Discover Club, as well as vouchers for each perfume inside of the box itself. The vouchers are all worth £5, so with 9 samples you have £45 worth of savings in there!

So for £5 a box, could it get any better?!

So onto what samples are in the 5th Edition, I know I pretty much love them all.

This box is called the “Christmas Classics Box” and boy did they put in some classics! I love this box and it contains one perfume I own, one I have wanted since the day it came out, two I own in their EDP versions and some I have smelt in the past and thought about buying in the future, but as of yet, never have.

As I mentioned, there are 9 samples in this box, 6 are for women and 3 are for men so he can have something too! As well as that they’re all EDT scents, which makes a pleasant change for myself, as a majority of my perfumes are infact EDP’s. It was a real treat trying out all the scents in this box over a week and I rather liked the males ones on my boyfriend too.

For women you have:

Jean Paul Gaultier – ”Classique”
Nina Ricci – Nina
Gucci – Gucci Guilty
Thierry Mugler – Angel
Thierry Mugler – Alien
Givenchy – Very Irrésistible

For men you have:

HUGO BOSS – HUGO MAN
HUGO BOSS – BOSS BOTTLED
Issey Miyake – L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme

Now there are a hell of a lot of samples for me to talk about here, but I’m going to try and keep each one as short as possible, but at the same time making sure to talk about everything.

Female perfume samples:

Jean Paul Gaultier – ”Classique”

Launched in 1993, Classique has become a true icon in the fragrance world. The supremely seductive oriental floral fragrance pays homage to the beauty of women with its corset inspired design. A sweet and bold EDT.

An old friend of mine used to own this and before a night out I gave it a spritz on my neck and I can tell you the scent lasted all night, which impressed me seeing as this perfume is an EDT. It’s a very warm scent and something I’d personally only use during the autumn and winter months. As well as warm, it is somewhat musky and this is down to its base notes containing vanilla and amber. It’s a very grown up and seductive perfume, one to definitely use for Valentine’s Day or a romantic evening. I have contemplated buying this in the past but never made the plunge, maybe soon I will.

Nina Ricci – Nina

A magical scent captured inside a glass apple. Nina offers charm and enchantment with a dash of seduction in what is a fresh floral fruity fragrance.

A few Christmases ago, my brother actually bought me a 30ml size of this and I still own it, even though it is running out! This is a beautiful light perfume and perfect for anyone who doesn’t like anything heavy, but wants something that will stand out. I find that the bottle for this is misleading, as whilst DKNY – Be Delicious is in an apple shape bottle and smells of apples, this doesn’t in my opinion. This being said it does contain red toffee apple in its heart notes but alongside that there are also some lemon and lime top notes to give it a slight zesty scent. What makes this perfume different from Be Delicious is the base notes, which contain cotton musk to give it a slight musky smell, but at the same time this keeps its citrus scents. It’s a beautiful perfume and I can definitely see me buying this again and with a 30ml bottle costing less than £30.00 (£27.99) it’s well worth buying!

Gucci – Gucci Guilty

Gucci takes as a catalyst its iconic entwined G’s and brings us a heroine who regards this emblem as an incitement to subvert. For this most contemporary of rebels, Gucci is the brand of sex and power. In Gucci Guilty, this woman discovers the very scent of defiance.

I have wanted this perfume ever since it came out! Alongside Thierry Mugler and Chanel, Gucci is next to them in my top 3 for favourite perfumes. I smelt this when it first came out and eventually over time whenever I have been near a Gucci counter I have looked at this perfume and smelt it and just wanting to buy it… But I never have. This is a gorgeous floral EDT perfume, which lasts just as long as an EDP and as well as it being floral, Gucci describe this as a “modern and daring Oriental Floral” which is right up my street! The notes for this fit to the type of fragrance it is with the top notes being mandarin and pink pepper, heart notes being peach, lilac and geranium and finally the base notes being amber, patchouli, and more lilac, and geranium.  I have to say that this perfume no longer reminds me of Envy Me, but of an aftershave my boyfriend owns, so when I wore this one of the days at work last week, it just reminded me of him. This is a gorgeous scent and will have heads turning! I need to have this in my perfume collection by the end of the year.

Thierry Mugler – Angel

Angel, the first fragrance by Thierry Mugler, is a voluptuous oriental gourmand with a truly beautiful bottle resembling dazzling stars cut from a night blue sky.

This is an iconic perfume and one that either perfume lovers love, or hate. I know my friend Poppy hates it, whilst I love it! I have the EDP version of this, so to be able to try out an EDT was a nice change and in one way pleasant. An EDP can sometimes be too much, but that depends on how much you apply! This was the first fragrance by Thierry Mugler and to be honest, I don’t think he needed to bring anymore out! Although I’m glad as Alien is amazing and one of my favourites. BUT ignoring that, this is a mouth-watering perfume and contains yummy heart notes of fruit and honey and even yummier base notes of vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Angel is a scent that cannot be forgotten and is extremely unique, the perfect scent for anyone going on a first date, he’d never forget you.

Thierry Mugler – Alien

Distinctive and mysterious, yet comforting and soft. The EDT conveys passion, sensuality and the essence of absolute femininity with a rich floral woody with a magical trail for a fragrance that is truly out of this world.

Probably my all time favourite perfume, although the version I own is the EDP. Another unique smelling perfume and the second fragrance by Thierry Mugler. The EDT version of this is a lot softer than the EDP and yet lasts just as long on the skin, which was a lovely surprise. This is a citrus fragrance mixed with musk, which is really nice! The top notes contain mandarin orange and citrus, whilst heart notes and base notes contain jasmine and amber. There isn’t much I can say about this perfume, other than how much I love it already in its EDP version, as well as its EDT! This is will be perfect for summer when I just want something light to wear and with a 30ml bottle I can quickly throw it into my bag to spritz whilst out and about. Therefore I can really see me buying this with my £5 voucher! It costs £31.50 for a 30ml size and with my £5.00 voucher it’ll only cost me £26.50… Bargain, much?!

Givenchy – Very Irrésistible

A very dynamic sensual fragrance possessing the elegant floral top notes of rose and the exotic daring combination of peony and rose fantasia. A very appealing feminine scent by Givenchy.

This is probably the only women’s perfume sample in this box that I’d never smelt before until spraying the sample onto my skin. It was the first one I tried and I have to say, I really do like it. It’s a lovely light floral scent and something that can be worn whenever, whatever time of day! This contains lovely notes, top notes including star anise flower and verbena leaf, heart notes including rose garden, peony and centifolia rose, and finally base notes including more rose with passion, fantasia and emotion rose. For a floral perfume it does have some slight zesty scents in there and that’s due to the top notes. I really quite like this perfume and it’d be lovely to spritz on during the warm summer months. This is another perfume I have been contemplating buying with my £5.00 voucher as the 30ml costs £34.50 without the voucher, so with it this would only cost £29.50!

Male perfume samples:

HUGO BOSS – HUGO MAN

Fresh, sharp and extremely masculine, HUGO is about living life on your own terms with a certain irreverence. It is created not for those who go with the trend of the moment, but for those who seek a style of their own. The chunky glass bottled is topped off with a masculine metal topper, capturing a fresh, lively scent.

Although I don’t wear male perfumes, HUGO BOSS is one of my favourites on mine, alongside Paco Rabbane, Chanel and Diesel. I’ve never smelt this one before until opening the sample to give it a sniff and boy, do I want my boyfriend to pick this up! It’s a gorgeous, fresh, and very masculine smell, it’s the sort of scent that when you smell it on a man, your knees tremble! Jared Leto does the advertisements for this aftershave, which is just perfect really. 😛 But aside from that! The notes for this aftershave are lovely! Top notes contain grapefruit, green apple and mint, which quite frankly make my mouth water! Heart notes contain lavender and jasmine, which sound rather feminine and finally the base notes contain musk and pine needles. Overall this perfume sounds delicious but also smells delicious too! This would make a perfect Valentine’s Day presents for your loved one, or even a Christmas or birthday present. If my boyfriend doesn’t buy this for himself, I know I will! To me he looks gorgeous, so for him to smell like it too, is just an added bonus. 😉 This only comes in one size of 40ml, but for £26.50 a bottle it’s damn cheap, but for the money it smells beautiful!

HUGO BOSS – BOSS BOTTLED

A true male iconic fragrance that remains as popular now as its launch in 1994. The juice is fresh and sharp with a warm woody base whilst the bottle offers a sleek, uncomplicated but very masculine look.

When I was younger I was obsessed with Ryan Reynolds and so much in love with him that the only reason I smelt this back in 2011 was due to the fact that Ryan Reynolds started to do the advertising for it. It smelt lovely at the time but I prefer the NIGHT version to this one, but that’s just me. Also I’m pretty sure my boyfriend owns this and whilst it smells lovely, I prefer other aftershaves to this one. This being said it still smells gorgeous and whilst it is somewhat similar to HUGO MAN, this one is just a tad lighter. The top notes include oakmoss, bergamot, apple and lemon to give it zesty scent. Heart notes include cinnamon and mahogany to give it some warmth and finally base notes include sandalwood and oakwood, with some vanilla to give it a lift. It’s a gorgeous scent and for a 30ml bottle it costs just under £30 at £29.99! I recommend that if you like the smell of this one, to smell the NIGHT version as it smells delicious.

Issey Miyake – L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme

Since 1994, L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme has become a hallmark of sophistication in the world of fragrances. It awakens the senses with its blend of citrus, precious woods and spices. The pure, energising scent is perfect for a modern, independent man.

Top Notes – Fresh and energizing yuzu, a Japanese citron

Heart Notes – Spicy nutmeg and cinnamon

Base Notes – Woody, Masculine amber tobacco, sandalwood and vetiver

I think I’ve heard of this before in the past, but I never gave it another look as with all ignorance, I don’t recognise the name so I can’t be bothered to look at it… Plus it’s for men! The sample I got is the sport version, which isn’t mentioned in the booklet or anywhere for that matter… So I wonder if I was sent the wrong one… Even if I was it doesn’t bother me much, as my boyfriend is being given all the samples anyway. Either way this aftershave is gorgeous! It smells really fresh and reminds me of summer, which is nice of course. As I received the sport version I’ll be mentioning the notes for both and as you can see, I have already mentioned the original versions notes above. I don’t at ALL like the sound of the original and quite frankly I’m glad that I received the sport version as it smells a lot more fresh and citrus than the original, which sounds far too musky and reminds me of a hot car on a winters morning that has too many vanilla scented air fresheners… This was my childhood by the way! SO the notes for sport! Top notes include grapefruit and bergamot to give it its citrus scent, heart notes include nutmeg to give it warmth and freshness, and base notes  include vetvier which give it an elegant smell as well as character and depth. Overall I rather like this aftershave… But I still prefer HUGO MAN more!

So now that I have covered all 9 samples that you receive in the 5th Edition Discover Club box, I’ll let you know which female (okay two female scents, I couldn’t pick one!) and male scents won…

Drum roll anyone?

Jean Paul Gaultier – ”Classique”, Givenchy – Very Irrésistible and HUGO BOSS – HUGO MAN

Out of all the women’s samples, “Classique” lasts the longest out of them all and reminds me of something, that I can’t quite put my finger on, probably something from my childhood! I would love to pick up a bottle of this, but right now I can’t really afford it… Which is a total shame as I have my £5 voucher! I guess I’ll have to pop in store soon and see what bargain I can get.

I couldn’t pick one and the other sample I rather liked was Very Irrésistible! I’d never smelt this before and it was a real treat to smell and try out over the week whilst I was at work. It didn’t last as long as I’d have hoped but I know if I were to keep a small 30ml bottle in my bag I’d be able to spritz this whenever I do so wish. Also I really want a new perfume for summer and I think this could be it!

Finally we have the male sample and I could only pick one! This was the first one I smelt and I don’t think anything else could compete as this just smells divine! It’s a gorgeous fresh and sexy aftershave and one I’m DYING for my boyfriend to buy! I know he said that he liked the idea of buying a new aftershave and as I have vouchers, he may as well use one. This aftershave is pretty affordable and with £5.00 knocked off, it would be a bargain he would be silly to pass up on.

So, after what seems like one of my longest reviews, what do I think of The Fragrance Shops Discover Club 5th Edition? Well I LOVE it and I really can see me subscribing to these since receiving this one.

I had thought about it a year ago when they first came out, but I never did go through with it, which I now regret, but I guess the term, “No time like the present” springs up here and as soon as the 6th Edition is released, I’ll be ordering it straight away!

If you’re interested in the Discover Club 5th Edition, or even the concept of samples in a box, then definitely click this link to head over to The Fragrance Shop’s website to tell you all about it and even order your own!

If you’re planning on getting yourself one, I suggest you do it soon as at the end of February the vouchers in the booklet run out, so I assume a new box would be coming out. But even so, you can always wait and pick up the 6th Edition if you do so wish!

So, what do you think of the Discover Club boxes? Have you ever bought any before, if so, what did you think of it? Let me know in the comments down below and if you have any questions, please ask away!

Until next time, take care all!

P.S. Apologies for how long this post was, but I wanted to make sure to cover everything! 😀

July favourites

DSC_0020Wow we’re in August already?! Is there anyway of stopping time so I can get off of this ride and take a break?

In a month I’ll be starting my post-graduate degree at university, which I’m excited for! I’ll also in a weeks time have been with my boyfriend for two months (oh how soppy!) which has just flown by and I can’t wait to spend more months like the previous two with him.

I’ve loved so much this month, but I only wanted to mention six things, so here are my favourites from July!

DSC_0023

  • Mandara Spa Amber Heaven Moisturising Bath Essence.

This stuff like some sort of evil spirit came out of nowhere in my bathroom. I came home after a long weekend at my boyfriends to find it sitting on the side of my bath, tried it out and instantly fell in love. My Mom later asked me if I’d used the “goodies” she had left on the side of the bath for me, to which I promptly explained how I was miffed as to how they got there, not even telling her how much I enjoyed this product. This just smells like heaven in a bottle to me, I usually stay away from musky scents but this is just wonderful and I can’t wait to use it when the colder months start to show. I lathers up beautifully when poured under the hot tap in the bath and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. I used it earlier today as a body wash and it’s left its gorgeous scent lingering on my skin, as well as continuing to leave my skin feeling baby bum soft. I don’t know where my Mom bought this from, but I wish to try more from this range!

  • Sanex Dermo Sensitive Shower Cream.

Another product to randomly appear on the side of my bath, thanks to my Mom. This Sanex shower cream is lovely, which is comforting going by all the issues I have had with Sanex products over the years. One of their old shower products caused me to have a terrible allergic reaction and their deodorants have let me down so many times. My Mom loves Sanex though and I can safely say she’s passing on some of that love to me. This shower cream is great for if you’re in a hurry in the morning and don’t have time to pop any moisturiser on as it has skin moisturisers in it that does all that extra work for you. As well as that this re-balance which restores your skins natural balance. I really like this product, even if it does smell like old ladies, clean ones of course.

DSC_0022

  • Macadamia Oil No Tangle Styler Brush.

As you know, I bought this hair brush at the VintSetFest event a few Wednesday’s a ago (posts here and here) and since buying this brush I am in love with it! It brushes my hair without tugging or pulling at my head and thus leaves my hair soft and smooth, with no pain involved. Even my boyfriend likes this brush, so it’s definitely a great product! It’s only £9.95 and has a handle, unlike the Tangle Teezer so you can have a firm grip onto something whilst you brush your hair. This is also great on wet hair and I’ve found since using this brush that I’ve lost a lot less hair than I normally do, even though it is normal to lose at least 100 strands of hair a day due to old hair falling out to make place for new hair. I love this brush and I’ll soon be writing a review up for it!

  • Angel EDP by Thierry Mugler.

I’ve mentioned this perfume on here time and time again I’m sure and it’s because it’s just amazing! It’s one of my favourites and for that reason it has made its way into my favourites this month. Whenever I’ve been off out in the day or going to my boyfriends this is the perfume I’ve reached for mostly this month. Whilst it seems like a warmer scent for autumn and winter, I think it works beautifully for summer evenings and is really strong so I don’t have to keep reapplying it either. Everyone recognises this too, so it’s nice to be complemented on it every now and again.

DSC_0021

  • Jelly Pong Pong Irish Cream Pavlova Lip Frosting.

I’ve had this lip frosting a while now after my friend Poppy gave it to me back in November time, she said she just couldn’t work with it and thought I might have a better job, so I gave it a go and I love it. I hadn’t been using it much before this month as in autumn and winter time I prefer to wear my MAC lipsticks, whereas in spring and summer I opt for a nice lip gloss, due to the humid weather. This is really easy to apply with your ring finger or a lip brush. It smells absolutely amazing, but I can’t put my finger on exactly WHAT it smells like, which is annoying! It’s a really pretty strawberry pink shade and looks great on its own or layered over a coral lipstick, but I tend to use it on its own. It isn’t sticky and lasts for ages on the lips, whilst tasting great too. These cost a lot of money to buy and I know Poppy received hers in a Glossy Box. I don’t think these are even available to buy anymore after being discontinued, which is a real shame. I’m sure you can pick these up on blog sales and eBay mind!

  • Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm.

I got this lip balm free in my goodie back at VintSetFest and I can safely say I am in love! I’ve always heard great things about Carmex but never bought anything by them myself as I thought they were a tad expensive, but now I can see why! It reminds me of Vaseline due to it being petrolatum and it smells really minty and menthol, which surprised me. I thought that I must have an allergic reaction to this product as it makes my lips tingle and feel as if they’re being plumped up, but after getting my boyfriend to try some, he agreed it does this. So yeah it’s a lip balm and lip plumper all in one! What’s not to love with this product? It’s really thick too, which I like. There’s nothing worse than a watery lip balm that just gets everywhere! I’ve purchased another Carmex lip balm since receiving this one, but I opted for the strawberry flavour. I don’t know if it was due to the heat or if the product is just different to this one, but it’s watery as hell and it’s annoying! Love this lip balm though, I carry it with me everywhere now!

So those were my favourites for July! Apologies for them being a couple of days late, but I’ve been super busy since Wednesday night and haven’t had much time to finish off writing this from that night.

I hope you enjoyed and have found some products you want to try in August! What were your favourites in July? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, take care and I hope you all have a great week, I know I did!
