October Favourites ’21

In the blink of an eye, October has flown by and I don’t know how I feel about that! xD October wasn’t the best month for me in regards to my mental health but the end of October, start of November has been really nice so far. Albeit with cute games coming out this week and some time off work with Dane… 😛

Of course I won’t go too much into my personal issues but instead I’m excited to share how exciting the first week of November has been for me! Not only did the Animal Crossing: New Horizons update and DLC (Happy Home Paradise) come out, BUT so did indie games Unpacking and To The Rescue! came out too, with the latter being a game I backed on Kickstarter. So, my week off mainly consisted of playing games with Dane, doing things around the house and catching up with people. It was great and very much needed. I’ll be talking about the games on a separate blog post at some point this month, so keep eyes peeled for that!

For now however, I want to share my monthly favourites with you guys! I hope you enjoy this months favourites.

Favourite Beauty Product – Badedas 3 in 1 Original Indulgent Bath Gel.

This is something my mom bought for me and Dane Christmas 2020. I’ve always loved the smell of Badedas as it was always something we had on the side of the bath when I lived at home. It smells really fresh, masculine and gorgeous, plus it always reminds me of my dad so it has a nice comforting/familiar feeling to it. I used some of this throughout the winter period at the start of 2021 and stopped when spring and summer hit. Now the weather is colder again, I’ve brought it out to use not only as a bath gel, but as a shower gel too! When I was poorly with flu later on in October, this helped clear my sinuses somewhat, as well as comfort me with the scent. I know it’s a bath gel both me and Dane used too with the flu (I passed it onto Dane…), so it’s definitely good it being in our cupboard! It’s a bloody huge bottle and it feels like it’s lasting forever! This isn’t something I’d buy for myself to be honest, but I did enjoy receiving it as a gift last year.

Favourite Film – Violet Evergarden: The Movie.

For any regular readers of my blog, you’ll know I LOVE Violet Evergarden and have done since it first came to Netflix in 2018. Violet is about a young girl/woman who has fought in the war as a child and comes out to be “adopted” by a post office owner. She begins training to become a ghost-writer and the feelings and emotions she lost during the end of the war slowly start to come back through helping people by writing their letters. Violet is also pained by the meaning of some words spoken to her during the war. I don’t want to say too much for fear of spoilers, but the movie basically ends a lot of questions that long time viewers will have been asking/wondering. It definitely answered these for me and Dane and my emotions were all over the place! We’re still asking questions after the movie, but we hope this won’t be the end of Violet Evergarden’s story and only the beginning of a new one!

Favourite TV Show – Squid Game.

Okay, now I know you’re either thinking… “YAY someone else who loves Squid Game!” or, “Urgh, someone else who loves Squid Game?” and of course I loved it. I heard all the hype around it on Instagram and Twitter and wanted to watch it before spoilers started to show, which I thankfully missed. Damn, Squid Game is a journey and it was one me and Dane completed over two evenings of watching nonstop. I don’t want to share spoilers, even if the majority of people HAVE seen it. It’s basically a Battle Royale style show about people competing in life or death situations to win a lot of money. It’s really good to be honest and much better watched in subbed (subtitles), not dubbed (voice over in your language), which I know a lot of people have watched it in.

Favourite Game – Dorfromantik.

This is a game that Dane introduced me to fairly recently and since then when I need a moment to relax and not think about stuff for a while, I pop this on. Dorfromantik is a game where you need to build a town/village with puzzle style pieces. Pieces will differ, whether they be pieces of river, railway track, farm, trees and homes. You need to pop pieces in certain places to make up targets, such as fifty trees altogether, or ten homes, etc. It’s such a relaxing game and I really do love to play it!

Just a few of my favourite things…

Black Milk Clothing Ghouls Night In photoshoot with Dane.

I want to say a massive thank you to Dane for doing the mini photoshoot on Halloween for my last blog post, which was all about Black Milk Clothing and their Ghouls Night In collection for Halloween. I was sick the week of Halloween with flu, as was Dane so we both felt a little sorry for ourselves. My original plans for the photoshoot I wanted to do was to venture out into the area(s) nearby and take photos in autumnal weather… Because why not! Alas, due to how we were feeling, those plans didn’t go ahead. Instead Dane suggested we grab some Halloween themed props and take photos in our office. We were able to change our smart bulb to various different colours to make the photos look better and personally, I feel like they came out amazing! I’ve received so many lovely compliments and comments in regards to the photos, which has made me so happy! I can’t wait to do more fun photoshoots in the future! You can read all about the Halloween collection here.

Rae Dunn boo ghost candle.

I fell in love with some of the Halloween merchandise offerings that TK Maxx brought out this year, including the massive DW Home ghost candle I bought in September (you can see it in my September favourites here). I’ve been on the hunt for the Rae Dunn boo ghost candle for the same amount of time and in October I found one at a decent price on eBay, so I ended up snagging one. I started burning it on Halloween and it has a lovely toasted marshmallow scent to it, but it isn’t very strong… Which is a shame. I mostly wanted it for the jar though, which I’m probably going to use for fake flowers. 😛

Halloween nails!

Guys you know me by now (well, I hope anyway!), I bloody love Halloween! Last yeah my Halloween nails were ON POINT and gave Beetlejuice vibes. This year I decided to go for orange and black and white stripes instead after getting some major inspiration from Pinterest. I wasn’t going to bother getting the stripes as I hadn’t booked in the extra time with my nail technician and instead I was going to get white with black glitter. However, my nail tech being the amazing person she is did it anyway and at no extra charge! She is such a star and I honestly always look forward to my nail appointments. I’m currently rocking glittery purple and green nails… Halloween isn’t done for me yet. 😛

BarleyBlossom Glow In The Dark Animal Crossing Halloween Timmy & Tommy T-Shirt.

Finally, I wanted to show you guys the Halloween Animal Crossing t-shirt I bought by BarleyBlossom. I wore this t-shirt on Halloween, as well as earlier in the week and it’s SO BLOODY COMFY! As you can see, Timmy and Tommy are dressed up as ghosts for Halloween. The white fabric glows in the dark, so when in a dark room the Nook brothers look spooky as fuck! I was planning to write a blog post all about my purchase, but when I was due to, BarelyBlossom was taking the Halloween goods down from the store, so unfortunately I didn’t see the point in sharing the item at the time if no one could buy. 😦 This being said, at the time of writing this (4th November) BarelyBlossom has listed two Molly pieces (t-shirt and sweater) where she is dressed up as a bat, so make sure to go and check it out!

So, there we have it guys! All my favourites from October! Honestly it really did go by quickly and I partially hope November doesn’t go as quickly. I’m not ready for Christmas yet… xD

How was October for you guys? What were your favourites from the month? PLUS are you all playing Animal Crossing now? 😛 Make sure to let me know in the comments below.

Until next time guys, take care and see you soon!

March Favourites ’18

Happy Easter everyone! I do apologise that this post is a day late (well I’m being naughty and putting it up as if it was actually on time… ;P) but it was my first Easter that I’ve had a 4 day weekend and not had to work! I also spent it chilling with Dane, as well as with friends and family which is the best way to spend it.

Now I’m finally getting the chance to work on my monthly favourites whilst I watch some gaming YouTube videos. Finally, here are my favourites for March!

  • Palmolive Naturals Milk & Honey Shower Gel Cream.

Not long ago I picked up this HUGE pump shower gel cream and I only got it for £2.00/£2.50 from Morrison’s on a food shop and at first I regretted it but this was near to half price so I was pretty happy at the bargain I grabbed. ANYWAY I started using this at the start of the month and it’s lasting agggges! You only need a little and it foams up gorgeously as well as leaving you smelling amazing and feeling lovely and soft. The milk and honey Palmolive shower cream reminds me of Fuerteventura for various reasons, the main one being back in the day when we first had the house there we took loads of “home comforts” and this was one of mine that my mom bought for me, so the scent always reminds me of my younger years there. Now it’s coconut scents that do it for me! 😛

  • Diesel Loverdose Eau de Parfum.

I’ve been using my Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet EDT for what feels like forever and halfway through March I decided it was time to start using something else, something that I love to the moon and back. Loverdose by Diesel is one of my favourite perfumes and this is actually my second bottle now! It reminds me of my best friend Jacqui as when it first came out she got a bottle for her birthday and showed me it. Now when I wear it it reminds me of her. It has a unique fragrance and reminds me of a mixture of liquorice (which is actually contains!) and tequila. If you’ve never given this gorgeous perfume a sniff, then get on it! Even if you don’t like liquorice, you’ll love this. 😛

  • Collection Velvet Kiss Moisturising Lip Cream in shade Rosie.

Whilst on a quick shopping trip to Superdrug in March I was having a nose around the Collection stand for my staple eyebrow gel and noticed the lip creams. I used to use these back in the day when they first launched and during the summer months I used these to death! I decided it was time to pick up a new one, but instead of going to the shades I used to use (Cotton being one of them) I decided to pick up the red shade Rosie. I love wearing red lipsticks and I actually haven’t worn lipstick properly for months. Since buying this I’ve used it about a handful of times alone and with a lip liner and it’s so good! It lasts ages and feels so comfortable when wearing it. I’ll definitely be reviewing this in April. You can check out the review one of the old shades Fairy Cake here for the time being.

  • Nails inc Nail Polish in shade Dream Dust.

I feel like I haven’t worn my unicorn Nails inc polishes for ages! So I decided to grab Dream Dust to wear every other week throughout the month and throughout Easter. I forgot what a gorgeous shade Dream Dust is to be honest with you. It’s a shimmer gold glitter with a mauve base shade. It’s so shimmery and is definitely an awkward shade to remove but whatever! It’s a shade you can wear throughout the summer, especially for holidays! This lasts a long time too so I’ll definitely make a habit of wearing it more often at work. I loved Nails inc polishes back in the day when I was a student but then I sort of fell out of love with them. Since picking up the Beauty of Dreams gift set before Christmas last year (you can read about it here!) I’ve realised that Nails inc are still an amazing nails polish brand, if not even better now than they used to be!

  • L’Oreal Hair Expertise Sleek Smooth Intense Shampoo.

I recently started using a new shampoo and this is actually the same if not similar to one I use when I’m in Fuerteventura (which you can see here) as it’s just one of the best and affordable! When I came home I searched for this shampoo straight away and bought that as well as another type of sulphate-free shampoo. Since starting to use this shampoo my hair has felt so smooth and looked less frizzy too. I’m so glad I started being sulphate free with shampoos this past year as it’s really helped my hair and to be honest since finding budget friendly shampoos, it’s helped my wallet too. 😛 I really recommend the L’Oreal sulphate free shampoos if you want to give this type of stuff a go as they’re super cheap from Superdrug and more often then not, on offer too.

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – Violet Evergarden.

I feel like I’ve mentioned this anime on my blog in the past and I’m pretty sure it was when Dane wrote a post on here with me not long ago (you can read it here). He introduced me to this anime when it first started but like he always has a habit of doing, he got me to start watching it at episode 3. I watched a couple of episodes but I just couldn’t feel like I was getting into it. Then a couple of weeks ago he said he’d watched episode 10 and that I needed to as well. We started watching the anime together from beginning to episode 11 and oh man, I have fallen in love with the show. Every single episode is also heartbreaking and I was silently crying at most if not all of the episodes. I’ll copy and paste the synopsis as I’m awful when writing what stuff is about without worrying of ruining it!

Synopsis (source: Anime Expo) – There are words Violet heard on the battlefield, which she cannot forget. These words were given to her by someone she holds dear, more than anyone else. She does not yet know their meaning. A certain point in time, in the continent of Telesis. The great war which divided the continent into North and South has ended after four years, and the people are welcoming a new generation. Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as “the weapon,” has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of “Auto Memories Dolls,” who carry people’s thoughts and convert them into words.

If you fancy giving this anime a go you can find it over on Netflix where it’s in English. It’s being aired at the same time as in Japan, which is amazing. It’s such a beautiful anime both in the way it looks as well as the story line.

Favourite Film – 10 Cloverfield Lane.

I remember going to the cinema to watch Cloverfield and all the rumours around it of people running out of the cinema to be sick due to the motion controls of the camera. FYI I was fine. 😛 I loved the film at the time and have since then watched it about a handful of times. When 10 Cloverfield Lane was announced I wanted to go and watch it, but no one else was really arsed. Years later it was put up on Netflix and me and Dane decided to give it a go. This is a film that really keeps you on the edge of your seat for various different things! You’re constantly wondering what is happening outside, as well as inside the bunker that the three characters are staying in. You have some awesome character development which is quickly snatched away from you by the time you start getting to know them and liking them. If you haven’t watched 10 Cloverfield Lane, then I definitely recommend it!

Favourite Book – I Am A Hero Omnibus Vol. 1 and 2.

This was one (well technically two) of the presents I got Dane for Christmas just gone and after he read Vol. 1 he gave it to me to show me some awesome scenes in the book. I checked them out and as it was halfway through the manga I decided to give it a read for myself and now I’ve ended up reading more than Dane has considering he’s only read the first volume and I’ve now read both the omnibus volumes he owns. It’s about a zombie apocalypse that hits Japan, with our “hero” being an anxious manga artist who sees things late at night and dreams of being a huge manga artist once again. It’s so well drawn and very realistic, you’re just hooked on it and want to keep reading. I actually finished the second omnibus volume in almost two hours… FYI it is a huge book! That and I’m a slow reader. 😛 Hopefully he won’t read this post but I intend to get Dane the rest of the omnibus volumes for his birthday.

Favourite Song/Album – Various…

Meh I wasn’t really sure what music to mention on my blog this month as I’ve just been listening to all sorts really… Mostly stuff I’ve heard on the radio at work, as well as some oldies I love. I’ll post above some of the songs I’m loving and quickly why below.

Dua Lipa – New Rules – I don’t know what it is that I love about this song and originally I was into an 80’s remix I heard on the radio first. I just find the song is really catchy and Dua Lipa has a lovely singing voice too.

Joyce Manor – Make Me Dumb – I first heard this game on Forza Horizon 3 as Dane bought it aggggges ago to play on his Xbox One and since then I’ve loved it! It’s such a catchy and upbeat rock song and due to that I just had to have it on my iPod for drives to and from places.

Paloma Faith – Crybaby – I don’t know what it is about this song but I love EVERYTHING about it! Paloma Faith is an artist I’ve listened to more of since 2016 and her voice is amazing, as well as her lyrics. This song is one that you’d listen to when you feel like crap and you need some encouraging words to listen to. It’s not a slow sad song, it’s an upbeat “pull yourself together, it’ll be okay” type song and I think that’s what I love the most about it.

Favourite Game – Miitopia.

YES FOR ONCE IT ISN’T PERSONA 5 ON MY LIST! Sorry I love Persona 5 so it will come up a lot on here… In fact be prepared to hear about it next month as the anime series for it starts in less than a week now! 😀 Anyway… I got myself a new 2DS XL recently (which I’ll be writing about at some point on my blog) and I feel like since picking this up, I’ve been picking up my DS a hell of a lot more now I have a new one. I’m going to put it down to the screens being shit loads bigger and better at that! I picked up this game the day before I flew to Fuerteventura in September last year and Dane loved the look of it so much he got himself a copy too! Basically you play the hero and an evil guy has come and taken everyone’s faces, so you need to go and fight him and his minions to get them back. As the name suggests, it’s based on your Mii’s, the little customised characters you create on your 3DS and Wii, I don’t think the Switch has really bothered with it. I was close to finishing it before we came back from Fuerteventura but never did. HOWEVER, since picking up my 2DS XL I’ve played more and oh man, I forgot how much I love it! It’s an RPG game but it’s such a lax one at that, which is why I love it so much. Basically if you loved Tamodachi Life on the 3DS and you love RPG’s then you will love this! They do have a demo on the Nintendo eShop so check it out.

PHEW finally I have my favourites from March written down and done! I swear I can’t believe how quickly the year is going already and it’s my last day off of the Easter holidays too. SAD TIMES! 😛

I’m off to go and chill out, whilst attempting to eat some of my chocolate eggs. I bought myself one this year and received one from my manager as well as Dane’s parents. I’m not a massive chocolate person, so my chocolate eggs will probably last months. 😛

How many chocolate eggs did you get for Easter? Also, what are your favourites from March? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time, take care all and Happy Easter!

Winter 2018 Anime We’re Watching – His & Hers Post

This is a series I really wanted to start this year… Well two in fact! I LOVE LOVE LOVE anime and manga so I’m finally going to writing more about it on my blog as and when I can. I know my blog started off with mainly beauty and fashion but the older I’m getting, the less arsed I am about both of them. They will always factor into my blog (beauty more than fashion at least!) but I just want to start writing more about the things I enjoy and wish to talk about, instead of the stuff I hope my audience will want to read. Sounds selfish, but it’s my blog! 😛

As well as starting off talking more about anime, I am also going to be trying to do more blog posts with Dane, aka his and hers posts. I have loads of ideas for posts us two can write together and give both a male and females opinion on.

ANYWAY enough of stalling, on with the post!

Winter anime for 2018 is pretty amazing right now and if you’re a part of the loop you’ll either be incredibly pleased about the new and returning series that are on show right now, or disappointed. There may be some happy medium… 😛

I wanted to share some of the winter anime series that I’ve been watching and my thoughts about them. Dane has been watching some of them more than myself and vice versa, which is why I wanted him to join me in writing this post.

I have My Anime List up as a guide as to what is on at the moment for winter. I’m not going in any particular order. Of course I will list where you can watch these series if you’re interested!

Violet Evergarden – Available to watch on Netflix (dubbed).

Nat’s thoughts – This is a series that Dane got me to watch a couple of episodes in after it was added to Netflix recently. I’ve only watched a couple of episodes of this to be honest and it’s not that I dislike it, nor do I love it. It’s a series you seem to need to stick with or you won’t continue watching it, like myself. I just feel like the story is very slow and you’re just seeing the impact Violet has on other people whilst she’s trying to piece together the puzzle of what happened to her during her time in the army/fighting in the war. I may give it another go however as it does seem like a gorgeous story. The art style itself is also gorgeous and without sounding daft, is aesthetically pleasing. 😛

Dane’s thoughts – I started watching this after seeing a GIF on Reddit and thought, “Wow, that looks pretty!” After watching it I now think it’s one of, if not, the most beautiful anime I have seen to date. The hair… Damn… The hair just looks so good. Not surprising from the animation studio that brought us K-ON!, A Silent Voice and so much more. Kyoto Animation are really one of my favourite studios.

From GIPHY

The story, whilst slow but so pretty, kept me pretty engaged. I want to know what happened pretty much in the war, who the pretty major is, and how pretty Violet will eventually learn to understand her emotions, that are pretty. Even if Nat is no longer interested I will continue to watch it as it is released as a simuldub (an anime dub that is shown simultaneously with the Japanese release). It is definitely a must watch for me.

Did I mention how pretty it was? 😉 😛

Citrus – Available to watch on Crunchyroll (subbed).

Synopsis (Source: Yuri Project) – Fashionable Yuzu imagined the first day at her new school she transferred to after her mother’s remarriage a bit differently; she didn’t know it’d be an ultra-strict and conservative girls’ school. So instead of a sweet high-school romance, she butts heads with the stern student council president Mei—who turns out to be her new stepsister. And she has to learn that hate and attraction are often not that far apart.

Nat’s thoughts – Bloody hell this is an anime series that is taking the anime world by storm right now! I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say a bad thing about it other than how odd and meh (look at Dane’s thoughts for what I mean by meh…) it is. It’s basically about two step sisters who enter into a relationship. I’ve only watched a couple of episodes at the moment and it really does throw you into this young lesbian romance that the two girls enter into. Even the titles are very kiss heavy, like full on tongue and making out. Me and Dane aren’t really into shoujo ai (non-explicit lesbian relationships anime) but we watched it due to everyone talking about it right now, Dane more so than me! We did this with Yuri On Ice!!! and we’re so pleased that we did as we loved it! However, Citrus is different. I think the reason people are going crazy for it right now is because it’s sexual. People go mad for that sort of shit to be honest and considering the type of sexual relationship the two girls have… I’m surprised they’re showing it overseas. I do love Yuzu so much though, she’s adorable and moves away with her mom for their new “life” so she hopes to fall in love etc etc. She’s also kawaii with her fashion sense and quirks. It’s not a series I dislike nor like at the moment but like Violet Evergarden I do want to start watching it from the beginning to give it a fair chance (even though deep down I don’t think the sexual scenes are right considering how rapey they look…). Dane however has been watching more of it than I have! 😛

Dane’s thoughts – Anime is trash and so am I.

Lesbianism and sexual assault is the name of the game here. It is about Yuzu (the protagonist) and Mei, her new stepsister, getting freaky with each other and their shenanigans at school. Whilst it does develop into a consensual “thing” they have going on (as of episode 5 I would not call it a relationship just yet), it starts off really fucking rapey. Yuzu, being a confident and outgoing person in everyday life becomes very uncertain and scared once something vaguely sexual occurs. Even when it’s not even sexual it gets awkward fast, she’s like a teenage boy getting a boner at the slightest thing. Then Mei gets involved and you’re like, “Hell yeah!”… If you’re into that sort of thing… Then it gets rapey. Straight after everyone goes on their day like, “I was just groped, had my clothes torn off me… But I like it so it’s okay.”

The story has left me wanting to know what the deal with the dad is, why Mei behaves like a piece of cardboard, what other ways you can make lesbianism awkward and why Japanese girl-only schools make them so “horny”. Each episode is a roller coaster of emotion that leaves me feeling much like Fry from Futurama being sentenced to death by snu-snu.

But…

… That shit is hot yo.

From GIPHY

All jokes aside, our reaction to this anime is just like Donald Glover (above) and does once again remind us of how trashy anime can be. If it was a bit more tasteful we could give it a proper recommendation but it’s just on the edge of being a bit too rapey. It’s definitely not for everyone.

Poputepipikku/Pop Team Epic – Available on Crunchyroll (subbed) and Funimation (dubbed).

Synopsis (Source: MAL) – Two high school girls, the short and exceptionally quick to anger Popuko, and the tall and much more calm Pipimi, do insane things and swear like sailors in this absurdist comedy filled with references and meta humor.

Nat’s thoughts – Pop Team Epic is a manga I have known about for a couple of years now so when it came out as an anime series I was excited and intrigued to see what they had done with it! The manga is actually more of a comic and shows strips of different scenes of what the girls get up to. It was extremely funny, random and odd all at the same time! I loved it though, but what I don’t love right now is the hype. I get the hype, I really do but at the same time I REALLY hope it doesn’t get too hyped for it’s own good. I’ve only watched a couple of episodes as urgh I don’t know. I think I’ve been more interested in other anime series right now to really want to focus my time and energy watching this one. I will however watch it from the beginning again because I can. 😛 It does have some really funny moments in it however, but I do feel like it worked better as a manga/comic strip.

Dane’s thoughts – Hmm. Don’t let the cute aesthetic fool you, it is not cute. It’s bat-shit crazy. It has its moments where they elicit a chuckle and the occasional, “HA!” but I haven’t wanted to carry on watching it to be honest, or at least not felt the urge to continue. It feels more like a chore to have my TV vomit memes into my eyes at such a blistering pace. We watched it subbed originally, I am a fast reader and enjoy subbed anime but I was more laughing at the visuals rather than the jokes themselves. We tried the dub but I don’t think it had the same impact, whilst the voice actors are good it just didn’t work for me. I guess it would be like trying to dub Konosuba.

I just have the feeling most people are watching this to try and show how weird and quirky they are.

Junji Ito: Collection – Available on Crunchyroll (subbed) and Funimation (dubbed).

Synopsis (Source: My Anime List) – A collection of animated horror stories based on the works of Japanese artist Junji Ito.

Nat’s thoughts – This is definitely one of my favourites from winter 2018 so far and I love it so much! Dane has read a selection of the manga by Ito Junji and we actually own Uzumaki which is one big story and probably won’t feature on the anime. Dane loves Junji Ito’s work and I’ve always found it to be creepy when he’s shown me the manga. However when we saw that there was an anime series online based off of his stories, Dane had to give it a go. I really enjoyed the first episode and to be honest I couldn’t wait for the next time! There will be 2-3 horror stories per episode which are either one off shorts or part of a longer series/story. The stories are a mixture of creepy and unnerving, as well as funny at times and somewhat lighthearted. It depends on the story really. As my Friday work day comes closer to 5pm I think of how excited I am to get home and continue watching this with Dane. I really do love this series and if you love horror you will definitely enjoy this.

Dane’s thoughts – I actually had no idea this was coming out until I saw that Funimation had the simuldub out. I have no idea how I missed this in the run up to it being shown.

As Nat has mentioned I have read a fair bit of Junji Ito’s work already online and currently only own Uzumaki (I am hoping for that to change though soon). The stories he writes are so unique and he is the king of the full page spread, the detail and horror in these images are grotesquely mesmerising. Every week the anime shows two short stories (or in some cases part of the greater story) from his collection. It’s great because you get something new each week, made so much better by the unique ending credits each week too which shows the characters from said stories. Something I have never seen before.

The problem with this is that it just does’nt carry over well in the medium of anime. The horror is not quite there in what the anime portrays. The horror comes from the thoughts of the story themselves and thinking after, “What if that were to really happen?” The animation is okay and sometimes the single shots have good detail in them but it just doesn’t have the same impact of turning the page of the manga.

I will continue to watch this one out of respect for the creator. I also want to see how they tackle the Tomie stories which they have not yet covered as of writing this.

Miira no Kaikata/How To Keep A Mummy – Available on Crunchroll (subbed).

Synopsis (Source: Crunchyroll) – When high school student Sora Kashiwagi finds himself staring down a mysterious oversized package sent to him by his self-proclaimed “adventurer” father, the last thing he expects is for it to be opened from the inside… by a little mummy so small it can fit in the palm of his hand!

Nat’s thoughts – Oh man if there is an anime series I have thoroughly enjoyed and been pretty obsessed with since Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and Your Lie In April, it has to be How To Keep A Mummy. I discovered this anime through Crunchyroll’s Facebook page when they posted a video showing off the show for winter 2018. It’s so damn adorable and if you don’t find the little mummy Mii Kun adorable then you clearly have no heart or soul. The series is just so adorable and constantly pulls on my heart strings. It’s based off of a manga that I really want to read at some point. I always look forward to watching this on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. I can already tell it’ll be one of my favourite things of 2018.

Dane’s thoughts – Erm… It’s kinda cute. Nat likes it so I guess that counts for something… Right?

If you like miniature decaying (Nat – HE ISN’T DECAYING!!! HE’S FUCKING ADORABLE!!!) corpses being reanimated and behaving like a retarded pet (HEY HEY HEY!!! HE’S FUCKING ADORABLE. DON’T MAKE ME SAY THAT AGAIN!!!) then this is the anime for you. You may think I am joking but that basically is the premise. Young boy, who’s name I cannot be bothered to learn, gets sent a mummy by his dad who is currently in Egypt travelling and it proceeds to become attached to the boy and becomes his pet. There is even a retarded rip-off Dragonite and some weird bellybutton motherfucker in it too.

Here is an actual scene:

If you haven’t guessed, this anime is not my cup of tea. It is cute but I found it boring and there wasn’t much going on. I can see its appeal though and by no means do I hate it.

If you do hate it though … Fuck you (Thank Dane ;P).

Back to me now (Nat of course. :P)!

Although we are also currently watching some other anime(s) too these don’t count with the anime that is out during winter 2018. We’ll definitely do another post on those though in the near future as we really want to!

So that is the list of anime that we’re watching (well sort of… :P) at the moment from the new winter releases for this year. If you enjoy watching anime like we do, what have you been watching recently? Anything that we’ve watched or if you haven’t had we intrigued you to? Make sure to let us know in the comments down below!

I just want to say a massive thanks to Dane for having a go on this blog post with me today. Bless him he’s been learning how to add pictures to posts etc etc. It was quite sweet really!

I’m off now anyhoo to enjoy the rest of my Sunday. I hope you guys have had an awesome week! Until next time, take care all.
