Animal Crossing Ichiban Kuji & Magazine – YY Kawaii*

I can’t believe that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out almost six months now, can you?! I still love that game and although I don’t log onto it daily to play, I do enjoy logging in every other day/once a week to catch up on my island, visit my animal friends and more.

Today I have a YY Kawaii haul for you, with some of the Animal Crossing kuji items I won, as well as a gifted item from YY Kawaii, which is a Nintendo magazine.

Image taken from Nintendo Soup

The Animal Crossing kuji was announced back in December 2019 and was meant to come out Spring 2020. Due to COVID this was pushed back to Summer 2020 instead and it was certainly worth the wait. The kuji prizes were shown off a couple of months ago and they are all adorable and amazing in their own way.

I’ve spoken about Japanese kuji’s in the past on a previous post here, which was about the 2019 Pokemon Collection Holiday Night kuji. I purchased my tickets for this kuji through YY Kawaii, as mentioned earlier.

I’m going to copy and paste the information about what a Japanese kuji is and how it works from the Pokemon Collection post.

First of all an ichiban kuji is a Japanese lottery that to the British can be related to a tombola you would get at a fête in the summertime. You win a prize every time but the prize depends on which letter you get on the ticket! All prizes have a letter assigned to them with A, B, C and D being the rarer and harder to get prizes and letters E, F and G being easier to obtain. Most kujis will also come with a “last one” prize, which you can win if you get the “last one” ticket. These are extremely rare!

I thought I would pop YY Kawaii’s video above as she explains in full what ichiban kujis are in more detail than I do and considering that’s who I purchased my kuji from, why not! 😀 Go and give her some love and make sure to mention me. ^_^

I’d purchased three tickets with YY Kawaii to try and win some awesome prizes. I didn’t particularly have anything that I wanted to win, but of course I wouldn’t have said no to the top prize.

Alas, I actually won an A prize and I was so happy about it! Alongside that I also won an E and G prize.

The A prize is this amazing Timmy & Tommy Tissue Case, which I wouldn’t have said no to winning, but didn’t think I actually would win. When it arrived I didn’t expect it to be the size that it actually is, I was over the moon with the size. As mentioned, this is a tissue case, so you pop your tissue box inside of the yellow section. We don’t really have big tissue boxes, so I’m still (two weeks on from it arriving) trying to find where it’s permanent home will be in the house. At the moment this is living in the office on top of the printer/scanner. The quality of Timmy and Tommy is lovely, they’re really plush and cuddly.

I also won one of the pouches with slider, there are four designs to win as shown above. When you win one from YY Kawaii, you will be sent your pouch at random, I was sent the beach/underwater design which is so cute! It has a sea theme with the conch, coral and shells you would find along the beaches. It reads on the front, “Welcome to Deserted Island”, “New Horizons” and “Animal Crossing”. I especially love the underwater look of the pouch.

I don’t know what I’ll use this pouch for yet… Probably to keep documents in, as well as beauty related items when travelling. It’s quite big to be honest with you, so it’ll definitely come in handy!

Then the last prize I won is a towel. I love winning towels with kujis as they really do come in handy when I’m out and about, as well as when I have a bath and want to dry my face and hands. They also make really good flannels, but it depends on the texture of the towel.

The towel I won is the cream colour with an assortment of non playable characters and villagers including – K.K. Slider, Timmy, Aurora the penguin, Fang the wolf, Tom Nook, Isabelle, female villager, Apollo the eagle, male villager and Tommy. Again this is selected and sent at random by YY Kawaii.

There are also some triangle patterns that are similar to the grass pattern of the games in Animal Crossing. As well as that there is the five native fruits – orange, peach, pear, apple and cherry.

As well as that YY Kawaii also sent me all the kuji tickets that she had used to draw the tickets. I’d asked about it on the live stream she hosted so she must have seen and sent them to me! 😀 I know I have more coming to me in the future as well so I’ll be excited to see them all! They all have images of some of the villagers on them, which are so cute!

The next item I want to show you isn’t related to the kuji but is actually a magazine that has Animal Crossing freebies with it!

This item was gifted for promotional and reviewing purposes, so all views on this post are entirely my own.

Chara Parfait Magazine is actually called a “mook” in Japan, which translates to mean “longer magazine”. Chara Parfait is said to focus on gaming for girls, with this edition in particular focusing on Animal Crossing, Kirby, Koupenchan, Paper Mario and more.

I found out the information about the magazine from Bia (prismhalo) over on Twitter.

I wasn’t expecting this to arrive in the post so it was definitely a lovely surprise! I’d had a really busy morning of work with lots of meetings, so when this arrived I was so over the moon! I was on the phone to Dane at the time and he said my reactions to the magazine reminded him of a child at Christmas.

Basically if you love Animal Crossing, kawaii, gaming and more then you will LOVE this magazine!

Alongside the magazine you also get some freebies, which is what we get here in the UK with children’s magazines and even some women’s magazines. With this magazine there is a stationary set and an ideas books for your island and home.

The stationary set is adorable! Everything comes in a little mint storage box. Inside there is a clear sticker with the main none playable characters on (Blathers, Tom Nook, Isabelle, Mabel, Timmy & Tommy and K.K. Slider) as well as some triangles to symbolise the grass and some symbols at the bottom for homes, shops, a tent and a lighthouse. I think you’re meant to pop this sticker on the top of the mint storage box, but I’m going to use it for something else me thinks.

Image taken from Nintendo Life

There is also some felt tip pens (green and yellow ink), a mini notepad with some of the promotional images on it (one I have shown above) and some washi tape.

The washi tape is adorable and gorgeous! I feel like this is the best thing in the storage box as you would pay a decent price for this over in Japan in the Nintendo Tokyo store, as well as in various stores. I can’t wait to use the washi tape for sure.

The green washi tape design is various villagers and non playable characters, as well as some trees and flowers from the game. Characters including – Fauna the deer, Timmy or Tommy, Molly the duck, Blathers, Goldie the dog, Mable, Hamlet the hamster, Tom Nook, Isabelle, Rosie the cat, Bunnie the rabbit, K.K. Slider and Peanut the squirrel.

The white washi tape actually has rainbow colours going across the top and bottom of the design, alongside with newer villagers that joined New Horizons, non playable characters and all of the fruit in the game. Characters including – Blathers, female villager, Mable, Dom the sheep, Molly the duck, male villager, Judy the cub, Raymond the cat, K.K. Slider, Tom Nook, Timmy & Tommy, female villager and Isabelle.

The next freebie you get with the magazine is a guide book for how you can decorate your island, as well as your home. Of course it’s all in Japan, but due to images it’s fairly easy to imagine what this is trying to say. The booklet itself is my favourite thing…

It’s AMAZING and is something I’m planning to use in the future for ideas, especially the stage idea (which is something I’ve been buying bits and pieces for since day one of the game), the campsite ideas are great and although I already do have something similar on my  island and I’m going to definitely add a little bit more, and the spa idea to have inside the house too!

It also contains some QR and design codes which is amazing! I love the lemon dress design as it reminds me of a dress my mom had a little girl (obviously based on what she told me).

Now, onto the magazine itself! This is jam packed full of cute Switch games and I especially love the Animal Crossing manga inside of it. There are also loads of little stickers of Animal Crossing related items, characters and villagers! I don’t know what I’m going to use these for yet, but I can imagine sticking them to cards I send friends at Christmas. The magazine itself talks mostly about Animal Crossing with some hints and tips and then moves on to talk about loads of kawaii games aimed at girls on the Switch. It’s an amazing magazine and I know for a fact when I was younger, I would have loved a magazine like this.

I feel like for those of us who can’t speak Japanese this magazine would be great for anyone who loves scrap booking as there’s loads of great images in here!

My favourite thing inside the magazine by far is the Animal Crossing manga, which contains an adorable drawing of Walker! Dogs are my favourite type of villager so whenever I look at his happy little face, it makes me smile. Also, remember the lemon dress I mentioned? See what the female villager is wearing? A lemon dress! 😀

So, that is everything I have bought/received from YY Kawaii recently that are Animal Crossing themed! I have a New Horizons Isabelle plush arriving next month, which I’m excited to pop on my Animal Crossing shelf.

I don’t think there are anymore tickets left for the Animal Crossing kuji, however if you drop YY Kawaii a DM over on either her YY Kawaii Instagram or her YY Kawaii Merch Instagram she’ll be happy to help! Especially if there is an item in particular from the kuji that you would like to try and get your hands on.

I know there are a couple of copies left of the Animal Crossing magazine too, so if you’re after that magazine after reading this post, then again make sure to reach out to YY Kawaii via Instagram! 😀

What do you guys think of the Animal Crossing goodies I won in the kuji, as well as the magazine? I love everything and I love the fact that I can FINALLY get my hands on Animal Crossing merchandise after years of wanting it.

When I went to Japan in January I was hungry for picking up Japanese merch, but the only time I found any was in Nintendo Tokyo and even then I didn’t buy loads as a lot of stuff wasn’t available that I wanted… Which I managed to get later through YY Kawaii.

If you’re ever after any merchandise from Japan, make sure to reach out to her! YY Kawaii has fair prices, will often try the hardest to get hold of items and is lovely and friendly to approach. She’s amazing, through and through and I’m so proud to be one of her brand affiliates. 🙂

Anyhoo, I’m off to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons and chill! What are you guys doing over the weekend? Make sure to let me know in the comments, as well as what you think of the goodies on this post AND your favourite villager in Animal Crossing.

Until next time, take care all and have a lovely weekend.

YY Kawaii – Boats and Capes for your Nendoroid figures*

This is officially my first post where I’m collaborating with YY Kawaii and let me tell you, I’m so damn excited to talk about the goodies she sent me to talk about on my blog. Especially considering they’re Nendoroid related!

I mentioned last month on a blog post how I had become a brand affiliate for YY Kawaii, who are one of my favourite shops to buy all my kawaii and Japanese goodies from.

Image result for yy kawaii decoden phone case

One of YY Kawaii’s many designs. This Yuri On Ice design is adorable!

I remember back in the day when I first discovered YY Kawaii how they used to be a decoden phone case store – where you could approach them to create customised decoden cases and I even bought one myself at one point.

Then when YY Kawaii started to branch into buying and selling goods from Japan I grew even more invested into her store and merchandise page on Instagram. I remember years ago being the person everyone approached whenever they wanted to know a store to buy Pokemon Centre goods from because I was always the person who had them. I always referred them to YY Kawaii without a second thought.

Decoden cases is something that YY Kawaii has now distanced themselves from and have since moved into more of buying and selling kawaii merchandise from Japan, and as a buyer I have always noticed they do the fairest prices around.

Both Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green from YY Kawaii

This includes Nendoroid’s too and is one of my favourite places to go and shop for them because not only do they do them at amazing prices, but they’re able to get so many specials in stock that you can’t get anywhere else in the UK. They also try and pick up discontinued Nendoroid’s too! I recently and finally managed to grab the Pokemon Red Nendoroid, which I have been after for years.

When YY Kawaii suggested for my first post on my blog be Nendoroid related, I jumped at the chance to do it! She sent me some cute little plushie boats and a cape that I can dress my Nendoroid figures in, so kawaii!

Anything that can make any of my Nendoroid figures look cuter in my cabinets is always something I’m happy to do.

Let’s put it this way, YY Kawaii is here to help your Nendoroid figures travel in style, if you know what I mean? 😉

Okay poor (sort of) puns away, lets get the Nendoroid figures I decided to dress up ready!

The items marked with * were gifted for reviewing purposes, so all views here are my own.

I decided to have a play with two of my favourite Nendoroid’s from two of my favourite gaming series. Isabelle from Animal Crossing and Futaba from Persona 5.

Overall YY Kawaii sent me three items to share with my readers today, which I’ll talk about in detail, as well as show how they look on Nendoroid figures too.

The first item I noticed out of the three was the White Cat Easter Cape* which I decided to show off on my Isabelle Nendoroid. These cost £5.50 each.

This cape is so adorable and definitely shouts Easter vibes, but not TOO heavily.

There are four designs to choose from including the White Cat, White Bunny, Blue Cat and Pink Bunny. They’re all as cute as each other and whilst I don’t associate cats with Easter, it’s still cute all the same.

The cape is really easy to fasten up around your Nendoroid figure(s) with a tiny bit of Velcro that easily sticks together and pulls apart.

The colour scheme of the White Cat cape is blue, yellow and white mostly – which I really liked. There are cute little cat ears, as well as a tail and one ear has a cute bunny hat design on it. Even if this didn’t shout Easter to you, the bunny bonnet definitely should!

When I popped this onto Isabelle I decided to remove her hair so that she could wear the hood. I know she’s not real but she looked SO snuggly in the cape and it reminded me of winter months when like to snuggle up warm. It was adorable to see.

I decided to see what it would be like to pop her hair back in place and have the hood down on the cape. It looked just as cute, purely for the fact it’s Isabelle with her little bells hanging from her hair, as well as the little bell hanging from the cape. KAWAII!

I couldn’t have picked a better Nendoroid to show the cape off on, it’s so cute! I may even have to use the pictures I took for a wallpaper on my laptop/gaming PC in the future.

The other two items that I was sent are both the Nendoroid White Bunny Boat* and Nendoroid Green Bunny Boat* which are so damn cute! I had loads of fun using my Futaba Nendoroid in these. These cost £5.50 each.

Overall there are five colours you can choose from, white and green, black and pink, light pink and dark pink, light green and dark green and light blue and dark blue.

The little boats are so cute with the little bunny ears at the front and the tiny tail at the back. The colour schemes for these are really nice too. They’re a really soft material too, so if you’re a collector who would like to pick these up for your Nendoroid collection (as well as any other figures) then you wouldn’t need to worry about them damaging your figures at all! They’re very gentle and won’t be abrasive.

The sides have little circles on – which I actually think are wheels, making this a car instead of a boat. Either way it’s a cute form of transportation for your sitting Nendoroid figures.

I think the thing I love the most with the boats is the amount of detail put into the actual boat itself. As you’ll see from the above photos there isn’t only a little steering wheel inside but two foot pedals! I love how detailed these are for how small they are.

Prepare for plenty of cute… Futaba sitting down was the perfect Nendoroid for these boat photos! Morgana even got a few shots… 😉

I love how the photos came out, especially the second one where Morgana is in focus! The only difficulty I had with the green and white boat when taking the photos was the ears folding back and hence hitting Futaba in the face. I’m sure overtime the ears will soften up and become more pliable. The light and dark green boat was definitely easier to work with and hence out of all the photos, the photos of the green boat were by far my favourite!

Overall I REALLY love the cape and boats that YY Kawaii sent me! They’re perfect for people who love to take photos of their Nendoroid’s and other figures in realistic situations. The boats would be perfect placed on prop river with a couple of figures “floating” on top. The capes would also look great in a winter setting.

There’s so many possibilities for these and they won’t break the bank to buy either at £5.50 each! Especially considering I have a special discount code for my readers where you can get two for £8.00 instead of £11.00. All you have to do is use the code “YYNATALEE” when you checkout via the website. This quote won’t work on the Instagram page(s).

Also if you’re a massive Persona 5 fan like I am – YY Kawaii sells Nendoroid’s as I mentioned, so if you go to pre-order any Persona 5 Nendoroid figure(s) you pre-order if you mention “There Might Be Coffee” you’ll bag yourself an awesome Persona 5 gift! 😀
