I write so many bloody reviews lately! Before I would hardly write any, and now they’re coming out of my ears. Alas I have a review for you today, and yes it’s another lip product. This is an excited review for me today mind as it’s a beauty brand I have been so excited to try for years, and now I FINALLY have the chance to give them a go. As you’ll have already gathered from the title, I’m going to  be talking about NYX today.

NYX has been around for years… Over the pond in the states, where it was founded. It finally hit the UK around Christmas time with Boots having it on offer on their website. More recently however they decided to start moving it into stores, which is deadly for me considering there is a Boots down the road from where I work, and they have a HUGE NYX stand in there.

I have so far bought two products so far, the NYX Butter Gloss in shade Red Velvet, and this what I’ll be talking about today, NYX Intense Butter Gloss in shade Black Cherry Tart.

This was one of the first products I swatched on the back of my hand. I am a complete magpie with purple lip shades lately and I honestly don’t know why! It’s a gorgeous dark purple, near black shade and is described as, “deep vamp purple”.

The gloss itself is just as the name of it describes, like butter. It isn’t sticky at all, which I really love with lip glosses. It goes on really easily and creamy, this is probably one of my favourite lip gloss formulas I have come across to date.

Another thing I noticed with this is the scent. It smells just like a cherry tart! You can’t really taste it when it’s on the lips, but you can smell it a little. If you’re not a fan of scented lip products then this might not be for you, but it isn’t a strong scent anyway so I can’t see sensitive noses having a problem with it.

I have a liquid lipstick just like this by Give Me Glow Cosmetics called Bad Gal, you can read my review on that here!

The applicator for this is your usual doe foot but this one is a bit longer and flatter than your usual ones. This gives you a precise line when lining your lips and feels comfortable on the lips. I use a lip liner with this lip gloss to create a perfect defined line, as well as give it some extra staying power.

I’ve worn it with and without the lip liner underneath for work, as well as days out and about and whilst it looks great either way, I do prefer with the lip liner for staying power.

Of course, as I always do I post some pictures of me wearing said product. I don’t often state this, but I am yellow toned, so you can get a good idea how this may or may not look on yourself.

So what do I think of this lip gloss overall? I absolutely love it! I won’t lie, when I swatched this on the back of my hand in Boots I thought it was the perfect dark purple shade, but when I put it on my lips I was worried I had bought a shade too dark for me… However, I am one for bold shades and I continued to rock this until I was fully comfortable with it! I have had many compliments on it, as well as people commenting on how dark it is, but in a nice way.

I love experimenting with dark lip shades, and this one is one I have loved to play and test out over the past couple of weeks of owning it. If you wish to try dark shades out I would highly recommend these butter lip glosses, whether they’re the normal ones, or the intense ones. You can pat them on to create a lighter shade, or even do an opaque look with them.

If you fancy giving these a go yourself you can pick them up in some Boots stores that now have NYX stands, as well as online. They cost £5.50 each and come in 13 different shades, including Black Cherry Tart which is the shade I bought.

So, will you be giving these a go? If so which shade(s) are you interested in picking up? Hey, do you already own one of the intense butter glosses? If so which one(s)?

Until next time, take care all and I hope you’ve had a lovely week, and have just as good a weekend and bank holiday!
