Just Little Things Tuesdayโ€ฆ Entertainment

Movies, games, music, TV shows, books and more. I love being entertained, whether it be by someone else or myself, like we all do. After a hard day at work, a poorly day spent in bed, maybe you’ve fallen out or even broken up with someone, entertainment is what keeps us cheered up and distracted from real life when we really need it most.

Since yesterday was a Bank Holiday, I’m sure many people used 1, 2, maybe even 3 of the things about to entertain themselves with, I know me and my boyfriend did.

So here are some little things to do with entertainment that I love.

I don’t watch TV but a majority of my favourite TV shows I own on DVD anyway! I love having mini marathons to myself, one day will be the first series/season, another day it’ll be the second and so on and so forth. My favourite marathons to have usually involves Teachers, Dirty Sanchez and Jackass. Three of my favourite TV shows!

I’m a sucker for books and I usually buy them second-hand but when I do treat myself and buy a book brand new I always give it a good sniff, even before taking it over to pay for it! I just love the smell of a fresh new book, just waiting to be read! I’m currently reading a new book, I smelt it so much when I opened it up to start it.

Everyone has these songs that on a night out, they drag their friends to the dance floor and even if they refuse to dance you just don’t care and do whatever you want. You’re listening to your music in the house whilst cleaning, doing some work, etc and you just have to take a break to some done dancing. I have a few favourites, M.I.A. – “Paper Planes” is one of them, it reminds me of nights out with my best friend Hannah.

There are loads of films I do this to and I know it really annoys people when we watch them together and all you get is me miming in the background. Shaun of The Dead is one of these, alongside Spirited Away and Shawshank Redemption being some examples. I think the one I still remember to this day though is Forrest Gump, which I would recite in my private drama classes when I was little. Such an amazing film!

That moment when you know that the adverts have stopped and there aren’t anymore mixture of crappy and amazing trailers left to show you so they have to start the movie you came to see. The movie you have been excited to see all day, maybe all month, hell maybe even years! Hannah and I waited years for The World’s End to come out, so when the lights dimmed for the third and final time during out marathon, we were so excited! Such an amazing feeling.

I’m greedy, I don’t just like new book smell, I like old book smell just as much! Charity shops are the best places in finding second-hand books, especially if they’re special book shops too. There are stacks, rows and even piles of old and second-hand books everywhere in those shops and they all smell old and wonderful!

As a photographer (hobbie only FYI) taking a great picture is exactly what you want to achieve, but if you end up leaving with the perfect picture, it’s an awesome day! Not just on my digital SLR, but on my mobile phone, if you can get a perfect picture, it’s just great anyway! The best is when you get a perfect picture at a gig on your crappy little digital camera, only finding out how perfect it is when you get home and see them on your computer/laptop.

Surprising it might be but I really like rapping along to songs, I’m probably not very good at it but it makes me happy, so who cares! After months of attempting and such, I finally mastered how to rap “White & Nerdy” by “Weird Al” Yankovic. A lot of people can probably rap this, I guess I’m one of those people. It’s just so much fun to try and rap something fast, you always muck it up!

Best feeling, ever! You’ve had the announcement months, years before stating that they were going back into the studio and now here it is, the album you have been waiting for! When Daft Punk came out with the latest album this year I was so happy. I’d waited for it for years so when it was finally on my iPod to listen to, I was ecstatic! Same can be said when Deadmau5 brought out his latest album out last year too.

What does everyone do when that happens? Scream their fucking lungs out! I know I do anyway, I cheer, stomp my feet, do excited little cheers, the works! It’s an amazing, unique feeling that you experience every gig you go to when this happens and I really miss going to gigs to experience this. Fingers crossed for more gigs in 2014!

I love all these things that you can lose yourself in doing when you have spare time. Lately I’m loving reading one of my books, I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. I sat listening to my boyfriends band Four Floors Of Whores making some new music whilst reading and it was a relaxing way to spend my Sunday afternoon.

I’m shattered anyhoo, I’m going to snuggle into bed with a book and try to settle down to sleep.

Just Little Things Tuesday… Friends

I love my friends, without them I don’t know where I would be today or who I would be for that matter as they helped me become who I am today as well.

There’s little things about my friends that mean a lot to me and sometimes you need those things to realise how lucky you are to have them in your life.

It’s great to be on the phone to someone and you can just stay on there and chat forever. I had a phone call on Monday night with my friend Jacqui for hours about all sorts of things! It was nice to just ramble and rant away about things that were bothering us or making us feel happy. I love phone calls like that.

Not long after the start of this year I had a really deep conversation with my best friend Hannah about some stuff that had been going on lately. I talk to Hannah about pretty much everything because I know she’ll just listen and give me the most honest advice there is to give. As well as this the last time I saw my friend Gabriella we had a deep conversation about my Gran passing away and how it had affected me. She sat there and listened and said things that were honest and relatable, which meant an awful lot. These conversations are the best ones.

Many a time have I had phone conversations until the early hours when the birds have just started to sing. Although rather odd, it’s great having to whisper and be quiet during these conversations, just so you don’t wake anyone up you even laugh and snigger quietly and it just sounds evil after a while.

Every time I see Gabriella we have one of these hugs and one of the last times I saw her I couldn’t help but have a cry because I just hadn’t seen her for so long! I saw my friend Sophie a few weeks back and it was nice for us to have a huge hug from one another, especially as I hadn’t seen her for nearly a year! It was lovely seeing her and we’ll be meeting up more often from now on.

I love when I tell someone a joke, something funny or even the way I say something and they just burst into uncontrollable laughter. It feels amazing that something you told or said could make someone laugh that much. I of course love it too, it shows that I’m genuinely enjoying myself and being happy in the company of the people I happen to be with.

“I can’t wait to see you!” Is one of the best text messages I could possibly receive a day or two before seeing someone and Jacqui is always the one to send these texts, the sweetie. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s always nice to hear you’ve cheered someone up and made their day, even by a complete stranger on the phone. I always try and go out of my way to make my friends feel better if they’re feeling a bit crap and this being said just makes my day too.

This is me, I reply to people straight away via text, emails or messages online if I can. I don’t like waiting for a reply off of someone if I KNOW they are able to answer me as I think it’s rather ignorant. If someone is busy, that’s okay but when I know they’ve seen my Facebook message and just can’t be bothered to reply, it’s rather rude. But when I get people replying back instantly, it’s a lovely feeling.

When I found out that some of my friends smell old and new books like I do, I knew we were meant to be friends. I know one of my friends cleans her phone over with hand sanitizer when she gets home too. Yes this is very odd, but I’m paranoid about germs, okay? I’m a weirdo and for my friends to be a weirdo in the same things as me, makes me feel less of a weirdo.

I love my friends, they’re my world and I hope some of them read this post to realise the little things that make me think of them.

Until next time, take care all!

Just Little Things Tuesday… Food & Drink

There is nothing better in life than little food and drink related pleasures like a piece of rich chocolate cake, some Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, a take away pizza or a big mug of hot chocolate to warm you up on a chilly afternoon.

I love food and I love drink even more and I’m pretty sure most people are going to relate to the little things I’m posting on here.

Cinema popcorn is great, but homemade popcorn is much better. I’ve never made it from scratch myself, but I have made it in the microwave inside one of those bags and it’s the best thing ever! The sound of the corn opening and popping inside, which at one moment is so empty and is then full of popcorn. Plus how fresh and warm it is out of the bag is wonderful. Great for nibbling in front of a movie with friends.

I love water and drink at least 8 glasses of the stuff a day. The best feeling with cold water is running into a 24 hour shop after a gig to buy a massive bottle from the fridge. You can’t wait until you’ve gone to pay for it so you gulp enough down to satisfy you and pay at the till. As well as this a hot summers day when you’ve been for a walk and need refreshing. I’m quite bad and will down over half of a bottle in one go. Cold water is amazing, especially with ice cubes and a slice of lemon or lime.

My friend Gabriella makes the best cups of coffee I have ever had, yes even better than Starbucks and Costa ladies and gents. She just knows what makes a good cup of coffee and whenever I’d go and visit her when she lived in Wolverhampton she would make me a cup of coffee in her Joker mug. I love coffee, it doesn’t perk me up but the taste of it is divine.

Toast is one of those things that you can eat whenever. You can have it for breakfast, lunch, a snack and even for dinner if you team it with spaghetti hoops and sausages! What’s the best part of making toast is spreading the butter across its golden top and watching the yellow melt and seep into it. Such a satisfying feeling, knowing your toast is now prepped and ready to eat!

Who doesn’t enjoy eating Ben & Jerry’s out of the tub? I know I do! Whether I be watching a film, relaxing with friends or just fancy some ice cream, there is nothing more satisfying than leaving a new tub to melt and then digging into it. It’s even better with a teaspoon, means the tub lasts that little bit longer…

I love Chinese food. I love cooking it and I especially love eating it! When I’m at home I try my best to use chopsticks and often fail and look rather stupid, but I do this outside of home too and look even more stupid. But it’s fun to try and eat with chopsticks and the more you practice, the better you shall be. For now I’ll keep trying and use mine for cooking with, something I can do.

*flavourful… Sorry, had to be done. ๐Ÿ˜› Those first few chews on gum and how minty, yet sweet and juicy it tastes. Aww my mouth is drooling at the thought of it. I love chewing gum, it keeps my teeth clean and my breath fresh after eating. Bubble gum is something I don’t have as much as chewing gum, but I still really enjoy to blow huge bubbles with!

If I open my fridge and see cheese in there, I’m a happy dinosaur. Cheese is just a major part of my diet. I know it’s bad for you, full of fat, whatever but I love it. Grated, sliced, squeeze, in triangles, whatever I love cheese! My Mom went shopping earlier this week and when I opened the fridge to see all this cheese, I died of happiness a little inside.

I love baking and when I used to bake cookies they would be all warm and doughy, fresh out of the oven and as much as I would want to eat one, you NEED to leave them to cool or they become a mushy mess. They smell good, look good and taste good. Cookies make the world go around, especially if accompanied with a glass of milk.

When I’m writing or reading a good book I like to make myself a cup of tea, whether it be standard black tea or a nice cup of green tea. Lemon, blueberry and mint tea are my favourites. Costa sell mint humbug tea, which I like drinking in winter time whilst shopping. It’s just nice to sit back and relax with a cup of tea, I take two sugars. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hasn’t this post just made you hungry and want a nice big mug of coffee or tea? It has with me! I’m off to make some dinner.

What little things do you like to do with food and drink? Let me know in the comments down below!

Until next week, take care all.

Just Little Things Tuesday… Rain

This Just Little Things post will be full of rain related little things.

I’m from England, I love rain even if it is a pain in the arse at the best of times. Rain is so relaxing and it keeps me calm on stressful day and the sound of it helps me write and sleep. I love rain, it’s an amazing weather and us Brits are proud of it! And finally after loads of sunshine, towards the end of July we had a ton of rain come upon us, some thunder and lightning too and I can safely say, I loved it!

Even though I one day hope to live in a country that’s only weather is sunshine, I’m from England, the home of April Showers and thus I love a good rain storm. The sound of rain is the most appealing thing but the smell afterwards is just so fresh and it reminds me of Spring and Summer afternoons from my childhood.

This is by far one of the most relaxing things you can do during a car journey, especially if it’s a long car journey too. I know I’m not the only kid who did this, but I used to have little rain drop races, see which one could make it to a certain area before the others.

There’s nothing better than being snuggled up in your favourite lounge trousers, a baggy sweater or hoodie and wrapped up in your favourite blanket whilst it’s raining heavily outside. Even more perfect if you have a hot drink, some toast and a good book to read. Or even someone to cuddle with whilst you watch a film.

Speaking of hot drinks, a nice mint hot chocolate goes down a treat with the toast, good book and definitely cuddles. Marshmallows can be added to make it even more perfect, even an Oreo cookie or two if you’re feeling generous to yourself.

I have terrible sleep issues, but when I pop on a rain recording on YouTube, I manage to get to sleep pretty quickly. I love the sound of rain when I have my window open, on a tent and on a car roof. The sound of the rain bouncing off of the surfaces is so nice and relaxed.

Another relaxing sound that can send me to sleep. It’s great when you have a new umbrella and want to test it out. The sounds of rain-drops bouncing off of the plastic of a new umbrella is just a wonderful feeling.

These are some of the best days I’ve ever had. Whether I’m busy doing something or just relaxing in bed, the sound of rain outside my window is really nice and peaceful. All you need is some relaxing music and you’re set for the morning or afternoon.

Me and my friend Gabriella did this in May when we had a Lord of The Rings marathon. It was really relaxing and just nice whilst we watched the film and chatted away about Hobbits, Dwarves and Elves. I hope to have a movie marathon with boy soon when we get some rain.

I’ve read many books on days like this and it’s just helped to heighten my imagination for the characters and surroundings I’m picturing them in. I’ve read plenty of Sophie Kinsella books during rainy days. I love her books.

Those are all the rain little things that I could find, as well as the ones I really like.

I’m going to bed to listen to some rain sounds on YouTube whilst I attempt to try and sleep.

Do you like the sound of rain as much as I do? If so please let me know in the comments if you can relate to the little things I posted above.

Until next time, take care.

Just Little Things… Continued

From what I can see the Just Little Things post I published a week ago did really well, so I’m definitely going to carry on with making this weekly post until I run out of little things to talk about.

The titles will be random, but a funny and cool random. So, let’s get on with the post!

Everyone loved the swings as a child and that doesn’t go away as we get older. Always waiting for the swings to be free was something that we all hated as kids but as soon as a swing was free for you to use, you ran over to it and swung for as long as you could! I love swings, it’s just relaxing to sit there either on your own or think or with someone for a chat.

You’ve paid to see your favourite band, the support act(s) have been on and then you have the anticipated wait for the band to come on. The music stops, the lights go out and everyone starts cheering and you know soon enough you’ll see them on stage, hear them play your favourite songs and for over an hour share the same oxygen as them. As well as this sing your heart out. I miss going to gigs, I really do.

Kisses on the forehead are so sweet and gentle which makes the feel that little more special and intimate than a kiss on the lips or a quick peck on your cheek.

I loved Sooty as a kid, from the moment I started watching TV as a baby until the late 90’s. I still watch episodes of the show to this day and memories just come flooding back. I love it so much and when/if I have children of my own I’ll be showing them Sooty.

I love hugs, I’m a very cuddly person and I’m glad as well as lucky to be with someone who loves cuddles much more than I do. Long, tight hugs to me just make me feel so safe and wanted, as if they never want to let you go. Best hugs ever, especially when lying down.

“I’ve missed you.” are some of the best words I could ever hear. I always worry that people wouldn’t miss me if they never saw me again, so it’s very reassuring when someone says this to me, whether we haven’t seen each other for months, weeks or even days. It means a hell of a lot to me.

Miranda: Could the penis dent the baby? Carrie: Where do you think dimples come from? Whenever I meet someone with dimples, I can’t help but tell them this is how dimples come to be on certain people. Love Sex & The City. I love dimples, they’re so incredibly cute and I can’t help but poke anyone’s dimples with my finger, even though I have some myself.

I kind of covered this already but I love cuddling and so does boy and it’s something we do often. I love cuddling whether I’m happy or sad, can never go wrong with a good cuddle.

I’m now past 100! I’m really enjoying doing my Just Little Things posts, even though this is only the second one!

Next week I’ll have a themed little things post, I’m so excited about it, I’m off to go and write it up now!

Hope everyone’s week is going well so far, take care all.

Just Little Things…

Like most people who spend the majority of their time on the internet, I love Tumblr. I love how you can reblog whatever you want and can relate to so much on there. Someone can post a really nice quote on there and you’ll relate to it straight away. Not just that there’s awesome pictures on there, whether it be food, celebrities, film or TV clips and more!

However I really like the Tumblr blog, Just Little Things.

Their blog contains a list of pictures with writing on that state little things that everyone appreciates. These little things are usually some things that can be overlooked by most people, but loved by a fair few. Either way this website makes me happy and I thought I would share some of my favourites with you.

I love when you open a new book and you begin your new reading adventure. The smell of a new book is just divine too and the smell of old books is just as nice.

It’s just nice to see an old couple still happy in one each others company. It means a lot for someone to want to hold your hand, especially in public. It just shows there’s still hope for love to anyone who has ever had their heartbroken or is single and that your soul mate and life partner is still out there, waiting for you.

Everyone enjoys this. It’s always nice to look back on what you looked like as a baby, a toddler, a child and even you when you were an emotional teenager. Photographs are amazing reminders of amazing memories and of people who we love, whether they’re still with us or not and that’s why I love photography so much.

Now I have a lot of flaws and over the years they have come, gone and come back again that they’re probably a permanent fixture now. It’s nice when people accept you for who you are and it’s even nicer when they try to help you through your flaws (if they can) instead of judging you.

I love holding hands and it’s nice to see couples holding hands in public. It shows they’re out with that person and no one is coming in between them whilst those fingers and palms are linked and pushed tightly against each others, especially when they fit perfectly. Even holding a friend’s hand in a busy club or arena is nice, it shows you don’t want to lose them in there!

These are the safest and most special hugs you will get in your life time. They aren’t expected and can be from anyone, whether it be your partner, friends and even family. Their arms wrap around your waist and their head rests on your shoulder. It’s just perfect.

Out of the nearly 1,000 images of these little things on their blog, these are some of the ones I like from the first 50.

This will become a regular post on my blog every Wednesday, I hope you like this idea I just thought it would be nice to do and it lets readers (whether you’re regular or not) get to know a little bit more about me and what a soppy cow I can be at the best of times.

Go have a look at their blog and let me know what some of your favourite little things are from there. Here’s the link to all of the ones they’ve posted to date.

I hope everyone’s week is going well so far and enjoy the rest of your Wednesday all!
