September Favourites ’17

I’m currently on holiday when this post will go live on my blog and although I’ve only really been in the UK for just over 2 weeks for the month of September, I can still write what products I loved throughout that time… Right? ๐Ÿ˜›

I do apologise for poor image quality… I took this the night before we left and was rushing to get so much done. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  • Garnier PureActive Intensive 3in1 Charcoal Anti-Blackhead.

This is a product I bought on a whim. I love any facial cleansing products that contain charcoal, as it’s great for oily skin and can really help pull any crap out of your pores. As the title suggests this is a 3in1 product which means you can use it as a facial wash, scrub and as a mask. This isn’t the BEST product in the world but it’s done some wonders for my skin so far! It’s not as scrubby as I was hoping it would be, but my skin has been having some sensitive days recently so this has really helped when I want to use a scrub but nothing too harsh. I definitely recommend giving this a go! I haven’t tried it as a mask to be honest, but it’s an amazing facial wash for sure.

  • Lush Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Tint.

This is my tube of Sugar Plum Fairy lip tint from last Christmas and it’s a lip product I randomly just started using again this month. I think with all the excitement of the Lush Creative Showcase and the Christmas goodies of 2017 being announced, it jogged my memory of this lip tint. It smells amazing, leaves a lovely magenta pink shade on my lips and moisturises at the same time! I’ll definitely be buying more Lush lip tints this year, including Black Rose for Halloween and Santa Baby for Christmas.

  • Paco Rabanne Lady Million EDP.

I’ve owned for a while and when I was first given it by my mom (it was originally a gift she had been given but didn’t like it, so gave it to me! :P) and at first I REALLY hated it, but after using it for a while I’ve grown to love it. The scent reminds me of Yankee Candle’s Fluffy Towels scent and I love it so much. I feel fresh and clean when I wear it and whilst ages ago I couldn’t wait to get rid of it, I now want to buy a new bottle as soon as it runs out. For ages it was my go to scent for work, which to be honest it was for the 2 weeks of September.

  • Mandarin Spa Amber Heaven Gentle Hand Wash.

My mom recently gave me this hand wash after noticing I was running low on hand wash in my bathroom. I had a back up ready to pop next to the sink, but how cute is that??? When I lived at home I would often use this hand wash if either me or my mom had bought any. I love the scent of this hand wash so much as it smells so posh! I can’t really describe how it smells to be honest… Sort of musky but a floral musk… If that makes sense? Even though I really like this hand wash at the moment, I do have a hate/love relationship with this stuff. Before now this hand wash has flared up my eczema and I don’t really know why. I has flared up slightly the past month BUT it hasn’t been as bad as it has been in the past.

  • Dove Pistachio and Magnolia Shower Foam.

Whilst I love this shower foam, I highly doubt I’ll be buying it again unless it’s on a special offer. I picked this up in Boots for ยฃ2.00 and even then I think this was expensive, FYI it’s usually ยฃ2.99. There are three different ones you can pick but I love pistachios so I had to pick this one. I have found that this softens my skin after use and will leave me smelling yummy for a while after use, but I just feel like you have to use loads of it to get a good lather going in a sponge or shower scrunch and that in itself is a con for me. This being said this was something new and fun to try and due to the scent I picked it’s also lovely to use as we go into the colder months. The pistachio has a lovely warming scent to it. As I said, when this is on offer again I’ll definitely pick one up!

So now my beauty favourites are done, time to talk about the miscellaneous favourites of the month!

Favourite TV Show – American Horror Story.

First of all, I know I don’t usually include 2 images when talking about my non beauty favourites, but I had to for this. I just want to get this out there that 1. I have a new favourite actor – Evan Peters and 2. The way he acted when playing Tate in season 1 of AHS was amazing and beautiful. I love the first gif I attached but the second one, oh my! Whenever he cried in that season I just wanted to cry with him. He’s one of those actors who nails crying scenes perfectly and those are some of my favourite to watch. Due to studying acting (as well as writing scripts) I love when an actor can be emotional and he’s just perfect at it (and may I add a perfect human being? :P).

ANYWAY… American Horror Story! Me and Dane have heard loads of good things about this, including from his own parents and we’re a little late onto the AHS wagon but it’s better to be late than never at all, eh? We are currently halfway through season 2 and we are loving it. I loved season 1 so much and his parents both said it’s their favourite to date! I have a feeling it’ll be mine too. If you don’t know much about AHS, every season pretty much has the same actors/actresses but each season has a different story behind it. BUT they’re all supernatural themed. They’re currently all on Netflix so I recommend going to watch it if you haven’t already. To be honest I’m really excited to see more of Evan Peters acting. He’s amazing. :’)

Favourite Film – The Girl On The Train.

This was recently on Amazon Prime to watch and I had heard SO MUCH about both the book when it came out, as well as the film. I wanted to watch it in the cinema but Dane wasn’t keen for it at the time. I’m glad I waited to watch it in the comfort of our own home but bloody hell, it’s good! I haven’t read the book so I can’t compare that to the film but even if you haven’t read the book like myself then I recommend you give it a watch. It definitely reminded me of Gone Girl, but in a different way.

Favourite Book – Erm…

Yeah I’m shit. I haven’t been reading anything AGAIN! To be honest I’ve been saving all my reading for my holiday. I do have shit loads of reading to catch up on though. I have all the K-ON! manga to catch up on, as well as many other manga books. I also have normal books to read and intend on taking 2 Bridget Jones books with me on holiday (as you’ve probably guessed I’m writing this JUST before I go on holiday…) as well as some manga, but we shall see. I’m sure I’ll do a post about what books I took at some point.

Favourite Song/Album – Porter Robinson & Madeon – Shelter and Rihanna – Te Amo.

These are both songs I discovered this month and ones I know I’ll continue to listen to loads, especially during and even after my holiday. Shelter was brought to my attention by Dane who mentioned that someone had used an anime in their music video. It’s an amazing song and the anime music video that accompanies it is lovely and sad all the same.

As well as that I also discovered this Rihanna song thanks to a beauty video on Instagram. I didn’t know of this songs existence, even though it’s been around for just over 7 years now. Bloody hell! I know my usual music genre tastes are in rock music as well as some electronic but I do have a soft spot for Rihanna. She just writes some catchy as fuck tracks and this is one.

Favourite Game – Life Is Strange: Before The Storm.

I completed this game in a day (including unlocking all the specials in each level of the episode) and I loved it, but at the same time I’m unsure what to think right now. I will elaborate without giving away any spoilers! This is a prequel to Life Is Strange where you play as Chloe, sadly she doesn’t have Max’s power but she has her own speciality. In this game you get to find out what happens with Rachel including how her and Chloe become friends and what happens before Max comes into the picture and Rachel goes missing. You get to be a little more rebellious with Chloe than you ever could be with Max and whilst I like this, I do find that both Chloe and Rachel are bratty. I’m not the only one who thought this either. THIS BEING SAID I can’t really say they’re acting bratty when Chloe’s dad recently died and Rachel has some stuff going on herself, which you find out about somewhat in the first episode. Overall it was really fun to play and I already can’t wait for episode 2 to come out soon! I bought the limited edition bundle so that I can get the bonus Max level, as well as all the episodes for Before The Storm.

So those are my favourites from the 2 weeks I was in the UK in September! It went by really quick and I already can’t believe I’m going away in just a couple of days (as I write this) and I’ll be back in 3 days when this post goes live on my blog (FYI hello future Nat! :P)

What were your favourites throughout September? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time all, take care! I hope you’re all well, I miss all my lovely readers! :’)

Fan fiction: real or not real?

Hi everyone! I’m Kanra, taking over for Nat today since she’s on a vacation (and can’t answer the phone right now). I’m one of those odd bloggers who don’t really have a particular niche I stick to. Some days I’m posting about school (I’m a medical student), some days I’m posting about art (I really like painting) and some days I’m posting about random things that take up my interest. Today’s random topic of the day is fan fiction.

I’m not an avid reader of fan fiction and certainly not a writer either. In fact, I don’t think I would have been overly concerned about this topic at all if it hadn’t cropped up in a chat room I frequent. It was a writing group, where people who were either in the process of writing or editing would congregate to share their work and request for constructive criticism. It was a pretty nice group, until someone posted a fan fiction and asked if it could be reviewed.

Admittedly, it was a poorly written piece of work. I guessed the writer was maybe around 14-15 years old, merely writing out a rough draft of a fantasy or day dream they had. The writing was disjointed, meaningless details about the main character, unrealistic bullying and resultant save by ignoring the situation and focusing on the power of friendship or something along those lines. If someone asked me to constructively criticize that piece of work, I would have probably declined because there’s just so much wrong with it that needs to be fixed.

The moderator then decided to throw out the question: should fan fiction be banned from the group entirely?

I recently took an MBTI test which classed me as an INTJ, given the title of “The Architect” or “The Mastermind”. There are other characteristics of this personality type which include things like “avoiding eye contact while talking”. To be honest, I didn’t even realize I had some the characteristics I have until I read up on it, like arguing as soon as a person of power suggests something. So of course when the discussions started shifting towards a “yes, ban fan fiction”, I couldn’t help but argue against it. It’s like my inner rebel teenager came out.

The history of fan fiction is something long and messy, something we will not discuss at the moment (it involves lawsuits and copy rights). The only thing you need to know is that fan fiction is a gray domain. What fan fiction basically does is create a new story from an already published piece of work. There is almost nothing that you, as a fan fiction writer, can claim for yourself. Everything you build on, from the setting to the characters, is not yours. You can’t monetize your writing. I guess that’s why it explains why most fan fictions are poorly written wish fulfillment pieces.

Yes, I’m not going to lie. More often than not, fan fiction has disappointed me. The majority of these pieces of writing are poorly written, self insert fantasies. The occasional rare gem does show up and I couldn’t let a brash decision of “ban fan fiction” stamp these out. Not to mention the fact that most writers started out using fan fiction as a way to improve their writing before creating original content.

It’s okay to write bad fan fiction! You have to start somewhere and practicing it out with preexisting characters, universes and laws is better for hammering out the fluency of your words and polishing the entire process of writing before putting in effort to bring to life an original creation.

It’s really sad that there are amateur writers out there, who write as a hobby, dismiss fan fiction as legitimate literature. In my opinion, fan fiction involves just as much effort and skill as original content. It doesn’t matter what your idea is or how novel your plot is, if you don’t have the ability to convey ideas properly through good pacing, than what’s the point? It’s much more important for writers to focus on presentation and delivery rather than whether it’s original or not. To be very honest, the kind of attitude I see about fan fiction really makes me wonder why people focus on the wrong things. It’s just a harmless exercise that helps young writers develope their skills. If it’s not good fan fiction, then just leave it?

Personally, I like the idea of fan fiction. I watched Dexter a few months ago and in one of the seasons, Dexter is set up to almost turn himself in to the police, but of course, it doesn’t happen. When I finished that season, I wanted to know so bad what would have happened if Dexter had turned himself in. What would the other characters think? How would they react? I needed to know and I really wanted a fan fiction to answer these questions for me. Imagine how many other “could’ve been” scenarios there are out there that can be elaborated and explored through fan fiction! Isn’t that exciting? Of course, finding such literature is truly a challenge.

I normally don’t read fan fiction regularly, but there are some popular fan fictions that I’ve checked out and was blown away by and if you have zero exposure to fan fiction, then you should check it out! My absolute top favorite fan fiction ever is “Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality”. This is a full fledged Harry Potter book and it’s amazing, it condenses the plot of all seven books and years just into this fan fiction Harry’s first year at Hogwarts. It’s amazing and I can’t stress enough about how great this is. The writing style is great, the concept is great, it’s just amazing and deserves more attention!

The other fan fiction is something I came across while seeing art on Pinterest. This might sound really childish but it’s a PowerPuff Girls fan fiction called “More than Human”. Revolving around a high school (instead of preschool) where the PPGs go, it turns out the RowdyRuff Boys are there too. I actually haven’t read all of it (to be honest I kept getting the boys’ names mixed up) but it was really nice nevertheless (very slice of life, high school drama sort of thing) and there’s a lot of artwork out these from fans who loved the fan fiction, so hey! Check it out, might be your cup of tea!

What do you think about people who write fan fictions? Have you ever dabbled in this art? What’s your favourite fan fiction? Have a nice day!

I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Kanra for writing this post! As regular readers on my blog will know, I always love talking geeky on my blog whenever the chance arises! Although I’m not a fan fiction reader, Kanra’s post really opened up my eyes to it from both a reader and a writers point of view!

I hope you enjoyed reading her post just as much as I did! Until next time take care all and I hope youโ€™re doing well!

Independent Artists I Love! #2 JennifairyW

This is the second post of this series and one I wanted to get written and posted on my blog before I go on holiday! This cute little package arrived a couple of days ago and as soon as I opened it I went straight to the computer to get writing!

So my second post for the series is about the lovely Jenn and her store JennifairyW. I discovered her through Instagram a long time ago whilst I was looking for some Eeveelution related merch. One of her Eeveelution charms popped up on my feed and from there I’ve been lusting ever since for products by her.

She recently announced on her Instagram page that she was doing a seconds sale on her Eevee pin due to the pin having some faults. So she popped the limited amount of stock on the website at half the price and I made sure to snap one up before they sold out! I also took the opportunity to snap up one of the Eeveelution charms that I’ve been lusting after for ages… I now wish I’d bought 2… ๐Ÿ˜›

So alongside ordering the Eevee pin, I also ordered one of the two designs of the Espeon charm.

Jenn’s based in Scotland and I only had to wait 4 days from ordering to have them arrive! I wanted to write a review on her Etsy store straight away, but I’m not able to until the 20th and I doubt I’ll be able to that day… We’ll see if I can before I go on holiday!

I love how she packaged my order by popping it into this little packet. The Eevee pin I ordered was also in a little zip lock bag to keep it extra safe.

Alongside with the pin and the charm I ordered you get one of Jenn’s business cards, which is adorable! You also get a little note from Jenn herself and if you can’t quite read mine it says:

Thanks so much for adopting a seconds Eevee. I hope he and the charm make you smile. Come back soon. Jenn x

I think it’s lovely that she pops a personalised message inside her parcels, it’s such a sweet touch and not only did my goodies make me smile, but also the note!

The first thing of the two I’ll talk about is the main reason for my order with Jenn, the cute AF Eevee pin. He’s so teeny and cute and I love it! The basic colour of the metal as you can see is gold, with the standard Eevee colours of light brown, dark brown and cream. The Eevee pins she brought out for her seconds sale are all meant to have not been printed properly by the person she bought/ordered them from. To me my little pin doesn’t appear to have anything wrong with it and even if it does, I love having a pin that isn’t going to be like all the others! I really hope that Jenn brings out the rest of the Eeveelutions designs she has in pin form too!

Ages ago Jenn was on about doing a Kickstarter for some food related pins, I still hope that she does this as it would be amazing! I’d definitely back it. ^_^

The second item I purchased is probably my favourite of the two, purely because I’ve wanted it for so long! As you can see it’s an Espeon charm and I’m so pleased I ordered it when I did as it now appears to be sold out! All of the Eeveelutions she’s drawn so far have 2 different poses, the only one left for Espeon was the standing pose, which I prefer out of the two anyway. It’s so small and cute! It’s only got a design printed on one side but that doesn’t bother me. I didn’t mean to but I scratched a little on the non printed side to see how if the print would scratch off and alas it never. This is a very good sign to me!

I want to get both versions of all of the Eeveelutions to be honest as they’re too cute to choose between the two! I like the Eevee that’s lying down, the Flareon sitting, the Vaporeon standing and the Jolteon that is sitting. Either way I’ll be ordering some more when I’m back from holiday!

Overall I love my goodies from Jenn’s shop and I already know I’ll be buying the other Eeveelution charms from her store when I’m back from holiday! I kind of wish I had ordered more from her to be honest, but with the holiday I wanted to be good.

If you like what Jenn does, then please check out her store as well as all her the social media! Iโ€™ll leave all the links below.

A Holiday Haul!

I’m sure I mentioned time and time again the past month (or two…) that I would write a holiday haul post when I’d bought all the goodies I wanted for my holiday. It now looks like I’ve bought all the goodies I’ll want (and need for that matter…) for my holiday IN LESS THAN A MONTHS TIME! Oh my, the days, weeks and months have gone by so damn quickly.

I’m not going to lie, I am hella excited for my holiday, but I’m also really nervous all at the same time. I know for a fact I won’t want to come home.

Anyway, I decided to be naughty as soon as pay day hit this month and bought myself quite a few bits and pieces for the holiday… As well as to wear in the UK as and when appropriate… I kind of used the holiday as an excuse to buy things. ๐Ÿ˜›

I don’t think I’ll be buying anything else for “the holiday” (hahaha :P) but if I do I can always make a second post about that! The only other thing(s) I can see me buying is a new bra for the dress I bought (you’ll see what I mean when I show it off) and maybe a choker.

Right, enough waffle. On with the haul! I’ll talk about things in the order I bought/received them.

  • Sixty Seven Silver Tone Holographic Sliders (no longer available).

Oh sliders, such ugly sandals when covered in fur and pom poms. I’m not a huge fan of wearing sandals, flip flips etc and more than not often opt for Vans when on holiday due to how comfortable and lightweight they are. However, I had a little thing for sliders this year… The none fluffy variety, of course! I had a look everywhere for a holographic pair but couldn’t find a single thing and when I did SEEM to find something decent it was stupidly priced or the colours were a little off.

As I do at least once a week I had a nosey over on TK Maxx and found these beauties! I waited a while to order them, but as sizes below and above my own started to sell out I knew I needed to get on it and get my pair ordered! These cost me ยฃ12.99 and retail for ยฃ33.99. WOW! They’re amazing though and I’m so glad I bought them! They’re really sturdy and feel like they’ll last a long time. The holographic is sort of matte in colour and doesn’t look too shiny, which I like. They’re not 100% comfortable to be honest and I find they’re rubbing a little on the top of my foot, but I’m hoping this is just them breaking in.

I plan to wear these both in the daytime and the evenings. Everything I’ll be showing off in this video what I bought I’ll probably wear with these sliders. I have to say I hate that they’re called sliders… I know why they are but I dislike it so damn much! I can’t wait to rock these to the beach in my matching bikini! ๐Ÿ˜›

My camera just wasn’t playing ball with me when trying to take pictures! It looks pretty cool though and shows off all the colours of the glitter really well. ๐Ÿ˜›

My camera just wasn’t playing ball with me when trying to take pictures! It looks pretty cool though and shows off all the colours of the glitter really well. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Topshop Black Glitter Skater Skirt (no longer available).

I’ve been in need of a new skater skirt for quite a long time now but I just haven’t really seen anything I’ve liked. My previous skater skirt was from Topshop so I decided to have a look on their website for an upgrade, sadly I found nothing. I looked around various high street stores for a while and I remembered the one place I hadn’t even looked for a new skirt, a Topshop one at least. eBay, my holy grail and first place I often look for things I want at a decent price. I found this Topshop skater skirt straight away and I fell in love! It was bidding and considering there was only 2 of us bidding on it, it started on 99p and I did a ninja and bidded with 5 seconds left, I won. I only paid about ยฃ2.50 for this including postage.

It’s really gorgeous black skirt with pink, blue gold and silver pieces of glitter running throughout it. It’s a lightweight skirt which is nice as it doesn’t feel heavy at all when wearing it. I’m also glad to say that the glitter is embedded into the skirt itself so when wearing, washing, etc no glitter bits will shed anywhere. I don’t know how much the skirt originally retailed for, but knowing Topshop probably ยฃ20-ยฃ30.

I’m just so pleased I picked this skirt up as it’s amazing! It does make my bum look bigger than it actually is though due to the way it hangs and I’m not sure if I like this or not. It can be worn as a high-waisted skirt or normal. With my new crop top (which I’ll be talking about last) it looks gorgeous and works really well. If anything it has finally given me the push and courage to wear more crop tops. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Pretty Little Thing Anaiya Multi Tie Dye Denim Short (available here).

Urgh. Just getting this out there that if you have read my recent blog post you’ll know how annoyed at am at Pretty Little Thing and how I don’t recommend them. If you haven’t, here is the link.

That aside I love these shorts, even if they are a little on the snug side. They’re high-waisted denim shorts with a tie dye affect on them. Although not 100% they do have rainbow colors on them. You can see where they originally dyed them blue, pink and yellow only for the colours to run to create green, purple and orange. They look amazing and very eye catching! They’re distressed too which I love, all over the front of the legs and a little on the one back pocket. The pockets in these are really big and deep, which I love! Means you can keep a phone and money on you if you don’t want to carry a bag around.

I’ll be rocking these with my crop top, as well as various t-shirts tucked into it. I tried on one of my black long sleeved t-shirts and I loved how it looked! I’m tempted to take said t-shirt on holiday so I can wear it in the evenings. I’d wear it with either my pair of Star Wars or 101 Dalmatians Vans. Maybe even my DC high tops. I’ll see what shoes I decide to take with me closer to the time. I’ve even looked at wearing my chunky 90’s looking heels, but I’m not sure if I will or not yet.

I know they’re very bright to wear in the UK throughout the whole year (come on let’s face it, our summer lasts all of a week…) BUT I will wear these throughout the year over here. I’ll rock them with band tees, tights and Dr Martens boots for a grunge look. If anything, I can’t wait to when I’m back from holiday! ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Boohoo Manhattan Hologram Triangle Tie Bikini (available here).

I didn’t need a new bikini and in the end I bought two. Shit. For this holiday I have noticed a pattern of me lusting after things that are either holographic, mermaid scale print or turquoise sequins. This obviously caught my eye (like the little magpie I am…) when browsing around Boohoo. It’s a bog standard triangle bikini BUT OMG IT’S HOLOGRAPHIC AND SHINY AND PRETTY AND OMG! Breathe Nat, breathe.

You can’t go wrong with holographic and when it comes to a hot country where the sun is out most of the time, you definitely can’t go wrong! This is the bikini I’ll wear when tanning on the balcony. It’s the tie at the sides for the bottoms and at the neck and back for the top. As I said, bog standard.

These are still available on the Boohoo website as well as another here which is holographic too. I was tempted to order this one instead/as well as the one I bought but meh. Don’t need ALL THE BIKINIS! xD

I am seriously in love with this picture since taking it!

  • Killstar Pheadra Skater Dress (available here).

The day that Killstar launched this dress for sale on their website I KNEW I had to have it. I’m a massive fan of Killstar and my love of them has grown dramatically this past year. I want NO NEED to own more pieces by Killstar!

This is a skater dress with a mermaid print on, and a pentagram strappy back. This IS NOT a dress I would wear in the daytime, only in the evening when the sun isn’t out and at risk of tanning the pentagram shape into my back. I do not want. ๐Ÿ˜› The pictures of this dress don’t do it justice. To me it just looks turquoise on the website but when it arrived I noticed that in the light the dress will shift and go a purple shade. Also as you can see it has a mermaid pattern on it. Oh Nat, you and those mermaid scales! I do like the smaller scales though and it makes a change from the bigger ones I rock on Black Milk Clothing pieces.

My only issue with this dress is I feel it’s too big… But I worry the size down would be too small… Also as amazing as the pentagram shape is on the back, it isn’t practical at all when wearing a bra. As of yet I haven’t got myself a new bra to wear with it yet… I hope I can get one before the holiday.

I know it sounds stupid because with a back like that you’d want to show off the dress, wouldn’t you? Alas this dress actually looks better with a jacket or cardigan over the top. In fact it looks so cute teamed up with my burgundy cardigan! Who’d have thought? I can’t wait to wear this throughout the year in the UK. I’ll definitely have to wear Dr Martens or brothel creepers. ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Killstar Arabella Halter Top (available here) and Posing Shorts (available here).

The same brand and the same print as the Killstar Pheadra dress. I couldn’t resist not getting this top and shorts. I don’t 100% know if you can swim in them, but damn I’ll give it a go! Nah if anything these won’t be for tanning in due to the top being the way it is, but more for popping out to the beach in for a walk with the shorts or even a pair of shorts over the top. I also wanted to pick these up for pole dancing in as I think they’d be gorgeous!

I do feel a little self conscious in this set due to how out there it is, but at the same time I actually feel really good about my body! I ordered both the top and shorts in the same size as I ordered the dress and whilst I don’t feel they’re too big, I do worry that the top part is a little baggy. I think I just need to get used to the style of it. I plan to try it on a few times at home before we leave for our holiday. I’d gladly wear this with shorts or a skirt with a little jacket over the top for if it’s chilly.

  • Black Milk Clothing Mermemerald Crop Top (no longer available).

Finally we have my last piece of clothing I bought in this haul and to be honest it’s by far my favourite! Everyone knows it, I love Black Milk Clothing and I especially love their mermaid printed pieces. I now own 3 mermaid pieces, including this new addition!

This is a size up from what I usually buy from Black Milk but it doesn’t matter as it fits lovely. It’s the Mermemerald crop top and guess what? It’s discontinued and now a museum item SO IT’S WORTH A FORTUNE! I picked this up second hand off of eBay for about ยฃ24.00, which I’m really chuffed about.

I didn’t expect it to be such a bright green when I took it out of the packaging though, but I adore it. At first when I tried it on I put it on the wrong way around. When I worked it out though and put it on properly I just fell in love. I paired it with my shorts, which looked amazing and then I paired it with my skater skirt. A part of me died and went to heaven for how lovely the two looked together. I haven’t felt all that great about my body the past month and more so the past week so to feel confident and nice about myself, I’m so happy. Black Milk seems to always have that affect on me. ๐Ÿ˜›

I already know I’m going to be wearing this most evenings when out with Dane for drinks and even for a day of shopping! I can’t wait to wear this back at home though to be honest. It’s such a stunning piece and when the weather is crap and gloomy over here, I can see this perking me up. It shifts from green to turquoise in the right light. How amazing!

One of my favourite pictures I’ve taken for such a long time! FYI I’m covering my face because I had some nasty zits on my cheek. YUCK! xD

PLZ DO NOT LOOK IN THE BIN. Nothing in there to hide, but still! xD

I was going to try and merge these four pictures in with the items themselves but it would have just been a mess… Sort of. SO I thought I would add said pictures at the end of the post, so you can see how I would wear some of the pieces together, as well as with other items. ๐Ÿ˜€

So that is everything I picked up for my holiday! I have so much more crap that I could buy and a part of me still wants to pick up a few more things to grunge up my outfits in the evenings. A choker being the main thing right now really. We shall see…

Have you guys been on your holidays yet? Where did you go?

Also, are there any items in this post YOU own or want to? Let me know all your thoughts and answers in the comments!

Until next time all, take care and I hope your weeks are going well so far.

Loungefly x Pokemon Duffle Bag

I’ve owned my Loungefly Pokemon bag for roughly a month now and I LOVE IT SO MUCH! It really does gain some attention whenever I’m out and about which is always nice. If I ever go out shopping it town or anywhere else

I thought I would show off the bag a little more than what I did on my recent geeky haul post (which you can read here) including inside the bag as well as what is in my bag, as I know people love those kind of posts!

This isn’t really a review, but more of a show off of my new bag really. I just love it so damn much that I can’t NOT share it with you guys!

Over the past 10 years I’ve owned various pieces by Loungefly but of course this is my favourite one to date. My first Loungefly bag was a Skelanimals one which sadly broke and I had to return it to the store I bought it from. It didn’t put me off however and a few years after that I bought a bag with Bambi, Thumper and Flower on. I still own this bag, even though I don’t use it much anymore, if at all! After that the only other two items I bought from them were wallets, both fox ones. Sadly one was stolen when I worked in Costa but I still own my current one.

I wasn’t exactly in need of a new handbag, especially considering that the one I was previously using was a Michael Kors one. Although I love that handbag, I wanted something that reflected my personality and a handbag covered in the Red, Blue and Yellow starters is definitely the way to go!

I know a lot of people are going to ask me where I got it from and for how much. Well, I didn’t get it directly from Loungefly due to them not shipping to the UK. I’m pretty sure places like Hot Topic stock it, BUT I’d decided to go down the eBay route to prevent spending a fortune on customs. It took a while to find one but eventually my bag went up for sale and at first it was ยฃ50.00 but the seller put it down to ยฃ45.00 which is what set me off to buy it. I haven’t regretted it or looked back! Technically this was an anniversary present from Dane as he bought himself a new part for the computer, which cost around the same price as my bag. Instead of us buying them for each other we just bought them for ourselves instead. ๐Ÿ˜›

After I bought my bag I noticed that Loungefly were coming out with more designs in the Pokemon series for the duffle bag style (which is what I have). They came out with 3 new designs which are the tropical starter, Pikachu/clouds and Gyarados Magikarp waves. They all retail at $70.00 each, same for my tattoo flash design as well.

When I converted this online (I used XE… This is not a promotional post! xD) it said that $70.00 in pounds is ยฃ53.30, which is obviously more than what I paid. That obviously wouldn’t include any import tax that may have been added on top! I can only imagine the person who sold ย me the bag paid out nearly ยฃ80.00 for this. SHIT.

So now I’ll FINALLY get onto the bag, because I know you’re probably waiting for it. ๐Ÿ˜›

This is a duffle style bag which you can carry using either the handles on the bag, or the shoulder strap which can be taken on and off the bag as and when you wish to use it. I didn’t like the shoulder strap myself so I carry my bag on the crook of my arm, or just by the handle. It depends on where I am and how I’m feeling. You could JUST hook it around your shoulder but it isn’t comfortable for myself. This being said though the handle loop is huge, which I love!

As I mentioned the shoulder strap is removable. It removes and is attached via a clip, which is the same colour as the hardware on the bag itself. As I don’t opt to using it the loops on each side of the bag are left bare. Soon enough I’ll be adding a keyring I recently bought from Roo from their online store (http://cosmicolor.tictail.com) which is Joker/Akira from Persona 5. I intend to buy more from there in the future, but for now I’ll be attaching him to one of the loops when he arrives. I honestly can’t wait!

The size of the bag itself isn’t too small and it isn’t too big. I did worry that it was going to be smaller than the image on eBay showed but alas it wasn’t. It’s a perfect size for me and I love it! I does feel like a bit of a Mary Poppins bag and I often feel like certain items get lost at the bottom of it.

The print on the outside is amazing! It has that alternative pin up look with the tattoo flash print with the Red, Blue and Yellow starters on it, which of course are Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and everyone’s favourite Pikachu. You also have a Pokeball print too. Everyone compliments me on this bag due to the print and you can tell when you meet a die hard Pokemon fan (like myself) when they go crazy over that alone. ๐Ÿ˜›

My favourite Pokemon on the bag has to be Bulbasaur. He just looks so happy and I love the blue rose underneath him too. It just looks really good and works well. It’d be a very nice tattoo to actually get done on my thigh… Not that I will. xD

So as you can see the Loungefly/Pokemon logo isn’t on this side of the bag, making it the “back”. WHEN in actual fact this is the front of the bag when I carry it… I hope that ย makes sense. ๐Ÿ˜›

On the “front” of the bag you have a metal badge that has the Loungefly logo on, as well as the Pokemon logo. I love this as it makes it feel more like a designer bag. The reason I used ” for the front description is because the logo doesn’t face at the “front” for me, but actually at the back. I like the zip to be near to me so I swap the bag “front” around. I’ll show in pictures what I mean.

Not only is the print on the outside amazing, but the print inside is also pretty damn nice too. It’s a cream coloured fabric inside with black images of all the starter Pokemon, Pokeball and even a tudor rose. To fill a bit of empty space there is also some little stars and diamonds dotted around.

Inside the bag you get a zip pocket on the one side to keep things in and a phone pocket on the other side. Nothing really too special about the inside of the bag… Other than the awesome print. ๐Ÿ˜› The pockets themselves are really deep, which is amazing as it means you can store loads of things inside of them. I always keep my phone in the phone pocket and in the zipped pocket I always keep my beauty related things, such as lipstick, lip balm, face powder, tablets, etc.

Both the zip of the bag itself and the zip for the pouch inside share the same zip. The hardware on the bag itself is like a rusty gold colour. I don’t like gold hardware on bags but this works really well and I love it! The zip has the Loungefly logo on and the zip is big and chunky so it’s easy to grab and use.

This of course is faux leather, although for $70 I would want it to be real! ๐Ÿ˜› SOOOO this is a great company for vegans to buy from to be honest.

Overall I LOVE my Pokemon handbag and for years now I have always said how I’ve been after a bag that really does reflect me as a person. I know this sounds really weird, but if I’m going to be carrying around a bag all the time I want people to see me in the bag, as well as myself holding it. Pokemon is something I have been in love with since I was 5 or 6 years old and that love hasn’t died or calmed down.

I’m so damn excited to take this bag on holiday with me. I know it’ll turn quite a few heads.

Loungefly have LOADS of different designs and bags to choose from, not just Pokemon! They have Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, Hello Kitty and more.

The official website doesn’t delivery to the UK, BUT there are a couple of stockists in the UK that you can buy certain Loungefly pieces from. The biggest one and one I’ve always gone to previously is Beadesaurus, a Birmingham based alternative fashion company. I remember when they used to have their own stall in the Oasis Market in town! Now they’re all online and as I said, stock Loungefly. They don’t stock Star Wars, Pokemon or Disney stuff though so you’ll have to probably track certain stuff down online.

EMP also stock Loungefly BUT they don’t state that it is Loungefly. If you’re after Star Wars stuff you’ll have to just search for Star Wars and narrow down what you’re after (e.g. accessories and wallet) same goes for anything else. They stock the Deadpool bag and wallet on there that I used to want. Not SOOOOO much now but I’d totally get the Deadpool bag for nights out! They also stock some Disney stuff, but again you’ll have to go and have a good search.

Amazon are said to stock SOME Loungefly stuff too but whether it’s legit or not, I don’t know. Same for some eBay sellers. When buying off of eBay make sure you can see a picture of the actual product. That’s what I looked for when buying my Pokemon bag.

ANYWAY do you like Loungefly? If so what piece(s) have you got your eye on? Have you ever owned any Loungefly stuff? If so let me know what!

Until next time all, take care and I hope you had an awesome weekend!

His & Her E3 2017 Highlights

Image taken from Latest News Explorer

So E3 2017 has come and gone and me and Dane made sure to tune in whenever we could, missing only two live shows, which we caught up on the next day.

I’ve never watched E3 so religiously before and only ever tuning into the conferences and talks after they’ve been live. It was pretty awesome to be honest cuddling with Dane to tune into the talks and at some points we even chatted to our friend Lee via Xbox Live whilst watching the Microsoft talked. We have now both said it will be a tradition to watch E3 every year.

BUT enough of that, let’s talk about what games we’re excited for and what we thought about E3 overall!

I’ll go first! I was tempted to try to do a top 5, but that shit isn’t going to happen. I may only want a select few but Dane wants loads of games… And I can’t say I blame him. ๐Ÿ˜›

I have to be honest and say my favourite conference out of all of them had to be a mixture of Ubisoft and Sony, I sway more towards Ubisoft however due to two of their announcements.

I am a huge South Park fan and have been eagerly awaiting for The Fractured But Whole to come out. I’ve been waiting a year longer than expected in the first place too due to Ubisoft pushing the release date back since late 2016. A new release date has been announced though AND Ubisoft showed off another trailer for the game!

The game play and story looks like it has completely changed from the one at E3 2016. I had heard rumours that Trey Parker and Matt Stone weren’t happy with how the story was going so scraped what they had and started all over again. Although I get pissed off with having to wait for the game to come out, I am grateful that Parker and Stone want what’s best for the fans. They’ve never worked so closely with game companies when South Park games have come out in the past and they’ve commented how they regret it due to how poor they turned out. As usual from the gameplay being shown and played at E3, the guys never fail to be rude and crude and make me piss myself laughing. The footage I’ve watched is set in a strip club! You even have to do a strip dance mini game and your just constantly farting on the guys crotch. NICE! The graphics look so much better than The Stick of Truth which already makes me really happy! It just runs smoother. I’m never ever arsed about that sort of stuff either. Like the first game your character doesn’t talk and is fully customise-able. The battles are completely different now from how they used to be. You still take it in turns to fight your enemies but you can move all around the area now to attack people, which I think is pretty cool! It also looks like you’ll be able to play alongside more characters than before which is exciting! I really can’t wait for this ย game and closer to the release date I’ll be pre-ordering it.

South Park fans were spoilt though as after The Fractured But Whole we were given the above trailer for Phone Destroyer, which is obviously a phone game. I’m just so damn excited for what this game will bring! I’ve been after a decent game to mong out and play on my phone for ages, and alas it’s finally here!

One of the first games that was announced and I was excited for was Life Is Strange Before The Storm. I LOVED Life Is Strange when it came out and I was addicted to it for a while. I loved it so much that after playing it on Dane’s Xbox I ended up buying it to play on my PS4 too. This game is a prequel to the first and follows Chloe three years before the first game and won’t contain time travel, that’s Max’s thing. We follow Chloe after her dad has died in the car accident and basically from what I can tell, how she’s dealing with it and becomes who she is when she is reunited with Max. We see her befriend Rachel and if anyone else is like me when playing Life Is Strange, I was constantly asking myself, “What the fuck happened with Chloe and Rachel? Are they lovers? Or was Chloe being clingy due to what happened to her dad and thought it was more than what it was?” I’m really excited to find out all about Rachel though as she felt like a main character in Life Is Strange even though she wasn’t existent. From what I have gathered so far though from the gameplay she heavily influenced Chloe to become the person she was when Max saw her.ย We will find out in the prequel all about Rachel though! FYI this is not the second Life Is Strange, that is currently in development. I’m so damn excited for this game though and I WILL be getting it on PS4!

Holy shit this is a game I have been excited for for as long as I can remember now. Quantic Dream are the people behind Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, which are both two of my favourite games! They work exclusively with Sony and PlayStation, which in turn makes me happy as I’m a PlayStation girl at heart. ๐Ÿ˜› Detroit: Become Human was announced a couple of years ago and since then has been worked on! I was really hoping for a release date to be announced after the trailer was shown at E3 this year, but sadly we still haven’t been given a date. From what I can gather from gameplay footage and trailers you play as various different droids who are trying to (as the name suggests) become human. They use their abilities to free the droids who aren’t able to control their abilities and basically make the world between them and human equal and fair. It looks amazing to be honest and the story behind it sounds unique and full of twists and secrets, like the previous games really. To think this game only started off as a way for Quantic Dream to show off what they were doing after Beyond: Two Souls. I’m so glad they decided to go with it though.

Do I really have to talk much about this game? It’s definitely one of my favourites that Microsoft announced during their conference. It’s a new game, Super Lucky’s Tale and it’s coming out towards the end of the year, only to Xbox One. It reminds me of Spyro and you know what? I REALLY miss games like that. I wish people would bring them back, and I’m hoping that this is just the start. It’s also equally appealing to me due to the main character being a cute little fox! I cannot wait to get this when it comes out! A part of me hopes it’s co-op so me and Dane can play it together, but I highly doubt that!

I don’t recall watching the trailer for this at first and due to that Dane was confused whenever he mentioned it to me and I didn’t get excited. “Nat you will want Ooblets!” he kept saying to me over and over again. He popped the trailer on to refresh my memory and I knew straight away that he was right, I would want it. It reminds me of Animal Crossing to be honest… But not as good as Animal Crossing will always have a warm spot in my heart. This will be on the Xbox One so that’ll be the platform of choice for playing this cute game.

Now that I’ve spoken about some of my highlights from E3 2017 it’s now Dane’s turn to take over the rest of the post and talk about his thoughts on the games announced this year, as well as the new Xbox One X.

From the looks of it I will be going against the grain with the populous and say I was and still am pumped from E3. Peoples excited reactions from this years E3 seems to have fizzled out and there are even some people who found this year to be wholly underwhelming. I completely disagree.

First things first is the elephant in the Microsoft shaped room with their new console.

It actually took me approximately 2 years into the Xbox One’s life before I made the transition from the Xbox 360 and I am glad I made the jump. I had serious reservations and complaints about the way Microsoft were handling their launch of the One and did not think it was worth my time and money. Since then they have gone back on many of their plans and with the announcement of the Scorpio (development name of the X) they have rebuilt my faith in Microsoft.

The best thing to do is watch the video above to find out about the specifications but it is all POWER!

In terms of games though there are way too many for me to list here so I will copy in the Xbox game showcase.

Natalee has already mentioned her big ones she’s excited for and I too am also excited for those games, particularly Ooblets and South Park: FBW but she has already spoken of them so I won’t say anymore. For me there is really just too many to discuss and I will most likely forget about some things but I will try to pick a few things out to share my excitement.

Crackdown 3. JUMPING, SHOOTING, THROWING and BLOWING SHIT UP.
The multiplayer for this game will be where it’s at. Making the most of the power of their Azure servers Crackdown is hoping to cause citywide destruction in an online environment. What can I say? I like blowing stuff up… and Terry Crews. NUFF SAID.

Player Unknowns: Battlegrounds is one I never expected to come to Xbox exclusively. I don’t have a PC good enough (yet) to play many games like this. I have always wanted to play a survival/arena game with my friends but the consoles are very limited with what you have available so this is a welcome treat. Here is the trailer from E3:

Sea of Thieves is one more multiplayer game that I have had on my watch list since it was first announced a while back. Open world, multiplayer pirating. There is not really anything more to say. Well, I should also mention it is a Rare (the developer) game who have a brilliant development record until Microsoft bought them out and forced them to do Kinect games. So hopefully this is a return to form for Rare which I am truly excited to go plunder with my friends when it is released.

Anthem was a surprise showing at E3, others may have been expecting a new IP from Bioware but I most certainly was not. This game was gorgeous and also online coop. This is one I am definitely keeping my eye on. I don’t really know much more than it is a 3rd person RPG in power suits. It looks good, take a look!

That’s the main ones from the Xbox conference that made me excited, I just can’t wait till November! I could talk forever about all the games on show so I have really tried to limit myself, but a few honorable mentions are:

Black Desert – Online RPG that looks pretty epic.

The Last Night – Funky retro adventure game akin to the original Flashback.

Cuphead – Bullet hell platformer in the style of the old-timey cartoons.

Ashen – Dark and desperate RPG.

Deep Rock Galactic – Mining with friends!

I am only going to really talk in detail about three more games. Two from the EA conference and one from the Playstation conference.

So first let’s go for the interesting epic that is Days Gone from the Playstation conference. Zombies may be overdone but this really overdoes it in a good way. SO MANY FUCKING ZOMBIES. It actually makes the zombie scary again, not like Dead Rising where the sheer amount is awesome but they are just cannon fodder to have fun with, but a true zombie horde.

I wasn’t so impressed with the Sony conference as much, put that down to me being a fanboy but this year it just wasn’t there for me. There are some games I know I am excited for but there just wasn’t enough for me. Here’s a few honorable mentions:

God of War – An epic story about a gratuitously violent beefcake with a child.

Spiderman – Shame its PS4 Exclusive! No achievements for me on my Xbox. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Shadow of the Colossus (Remake) – Never played the original but damn I want to play this.

EA had a massive show, second only to Microsoft. One of their new and VERY intriguing announcements was their split-screen adventure A Way Out.

Games and their developers seem have forgotten what it means to play with your friends. You may have noticed the majority of my highlights are largely multiplayer, but these are mostly online multiplayer. Gone are the days of playing on the couch with your friends sharing a tiny little CRT TV. A Way Out says fuck that and forces you to play with someone and share the screen regardless of where you are. The story is there too.

Finally from EA is this.

I can safely say both Natalee and I are extremely excited for this. I had the first one and it did not live up to the hype. Yes it was one of the best looking games but there was no substance. EA have promised a single player campaign, free dlc and ALL THREE TRILOGIES. I cannot wait to be playing as the clone troopers in the frostbite 3 engine. The thought makes me moist with anticipation.

YAY after days of asking Dane to write his part of this post, he’s finally done it! ๐Ÿ˜€ I can safely say I am so damn excited for both Days Gone and Star Wars: Battlefront 2. They’re both going to be amazing games! Spiderman is also one I was surprised to see as a PS4 exclusive! This makes me really happy of course due to being a Playstation gamer. The gameplay for it was gorgeous and obviously is steps above games from back in the PS1 days, but it reminded me of the Spiderman game from back in the day. I loved that game so much and would spend hours after school playing it.

I cannot wait for November to come now so we can play new games together, as well as with our gaming friends Lee and Sam!

What were your highlights from E3 this year? Make sure to let me know in the comments, as well as over at Twitter @maybeecoffee ^_^

Until next time all, take care! I hope you’re enjoying the gorgeous weather, I know we are.

February Wish List 17

I’m still on a “spending ban” so I don’t actually know why I’m making this post… ๐Ÿ˜› I’m not going to lie, my wish list posts are probably my favourite to write as I like to share some awesome new stuff that I want to add to my home, as well as to my lipstick and geeky collections.

So sod the spending ban! I’ll continue to do these posts until I don’t want to write them anymore! There won’t be anything too special on the list this month however… Just stuff I want to buy and cannot. Le sigh.

  • ASOS Reclaimed Vintage Black Sabbath Long Sleeve Top – ยฃ35.00 (link)

I recently discovered this piece thanks to Zoe London as she bought it herself and was talking about it in a video. To be honest though a lot of fashion YouTuber’s have bought this piece lately and it’s just made me want to get it myself more and more. Sadly it is out of stock at the moment… I’m hoping it’ll come back in stock in my size so I can erm… Maybe order one… ONLY A MAYBE CALM YO’ TITS!

  • Good Smile Company Deadpool Nendoroid – ยฃ42.99 (link)

As regular readers will know me and Dane love and collect Nendoroid’s and from the day it was announced we knew we would be getting the Deadpool one. I mean look how cute he is! We were planning on buying him this month ready for what we thought was his release date at the end of the month. Sadly that isn’t until next month… We can still pre-order him though as we intending on getting him as a Valentine’s treat to ourselves. ๐Ÿ˜› What an excuse eh???

  • Disturbia Kiss My Ass Acid Wash Shorts – WAS ยฃ29.95 – NOW ยฃ22.95 (link)

I’ve wanted these jeans for quite a while now after I found someone selling them on Depop. I didn’t actually know they were still available to buy from the actual store until recently when I decided to check out their sales. I would love a new pair of denim shorts as I haven’t bought myself a new pair for quite some time now. I’d pair them up with geeky t-shirts and tuck them in. I doubt I’ll get these due to spending ban, but they’ll stay on my wish list for as long as possible.

  • Ray Ban Glasses – ยฃ98.00 (link)

I went for an eye test the weekend just gone after about two years of going without one and sadly my eyes have worsened, which means that I need to get a new set of lenses… Probably frames too it depends. I looked for ages in the opticians that I went into for a new pair and the one Ray Ban pair I liked were bloody expensive and the second pair I liked were nice but seemed really cheap. I had a mooch online and found Glasses Direct who sell designer frames at really good prices! They also sort out your lenses for you too, including thinning them down, which is what mine will need doing to them… Due to the blindness and all. I’ll hopefully get some soon but we shall see! I do really like my current frames so I don’t know why I should change them… A lot of people don’t want to put new lenses into them though which is annoying!

  • Nintendo 3DS Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World – ยฃ34.99 (link)

If there’s a Nintendo character that I really like (apart from Pokemon of course…) it’s definitely Yoshi! He’s just so damn cute and adorable and I just wish he was real. I especially love the little woolly Yoshi that was realised to coincide with the wii U version of the game a few years ago and really wanted to get one myself to put in my bedroom at the time. NOW the 3DS is finally getting its own version of this game which is really exciting! I gave the demo a go recently and really did enjoy playing it, so much so I’d love to pick it up today if possible as that’s when it comes out! ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Pusheen Colouring Book – ยฃ9.99 (link)

I’ve been after this colouring book FOR AGGGGGES as I love Pusheen so much! I guess I just want something I can faff about with and just relax with instead of playing games or reading, as sometimes I’m not always in the mood to do either of those. This being said, surely this colouring book with mostly consist of grey? ๐Ÿ˜›

So that was my wish list for February! Although I’m on a spending ban there are probably a couple of things off of the list that I’ll end up buying due to needing them (glasses), Valentine’s Day gift (Deadpool Nendoroid) and because I fancy a new game (YOSHIIIII!) but we shall see… We shall see.

What are on your wish lists for the month? Make sure to let me know in the comments down below!

Until next time all, take care and I hope you had a lovely week.
